I understand they are booked and busy. But if I call for an EMERGENCY for my bird, insinuating alarming and potentially fatal symptoms in my bird I expect a little more than the receptionist telling me they are booked and to go somewhere else. If something happens to my bird (God forbid) I am blaming them, as I've already been to 2 vets and they are the only avian vet in the area. shame.

We had to put our beloved parrot down ,but they kept us informed along the way. Very sympathetic, and knowledgeable doctors. We requested medical documents, and we are still waiting on them 3 months later.... That's the reason they got 4 stars.

They were great to us, and our Ferret, Frankie. Things didn't end well, but we had expected our day to end that way. They were incredibly supportive with our loss. Amazing place. Thank you!

Booked and came all the way here to see an ophthalmologist as my doctor couldn't exactly tell what was wrong with my babys eye. When I came they took me in, did the basic assessment with the student, then the nurse came in and told me I would have to book to see the eye doctor on another day as she's too busy today with appointments. Big long argument about how I had specifically booked an appointment in 2 weeks time to see the eye doctor and that it wasn't my fault if the secretary didn't properly write down the information. In the end the eye doctor seen the bird- said that they couldn't tell what was wrong with him and that was it. They charged me for the appointments more than what the secretary during the booking told me it would be. When I was told to wait in the waiting room for my prescription- me being the only one in the room along with another person - I had waited for 45 minutes until I went up asking for a prescription that I was supposed to get 35 minutes ago. They had it on the counter the whole time. They knew I came for my appointment 2 hours ago - & neither of the two receptionists could ask why I was waiting so long now... It was all so unprofessional. I will never be going back there again. The service from the receptionist are terrible but the angry nurse who thought I had no right to be angry was also just as bad.

Excellent staff, I had an emergency and they made the whole experience as smooth as it could be. Unfortunately my Chameleon could not be saved but I will be back with my other reptiles. Best reptile vet I have had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with.

OVC was absolutly amazing with neutering one of my sugar gliders. From drop off to pick up to aftercare as well. They were so attentive and knowledgeable... I cant believe they are closing. This is a real loss to the exotic pet community and im crossing my fingers they decide not to close!!!!

I can't thank the Dr's and all the staff enough. Had a sick parrot and they were wonderful! Shadow is now on the road to recovery! 2 hour drive but this is the ONLY avian vets I will ever use! Thank you fron the bottom of my heart!

As a student veterinarian at OVC and as someone who has had bad experiences in the past with other veterinarians, this place is #1 in my books. My rabbit got the best care despite being diagnosed with a soft tissue sarcoma (diagnosed quickly by board-certified pathologists at the AHL one building over). Dr. Gardhouse and Dr. McCready were incredibly empathetic, professional, and knowledgeable. They were very easy to communicate with whether it was through phone or email - I was always given very helpful advice because they take the time to actually talk to you, which is always appreciated, especially considering how busy they are. The price was much cheaper than I thought considering I was seen by these two (highly qualified) veterinarians who actually specialize in exotic species. I highly recommend the Avian and Exotics Service to anyone. Despite their deceivingly small size, they are fantastic!
