The best vet - ever! I would hate to have to bring my rabbits anywhere else. I have been bringing them there for routine checkups as well as their spay surgeries for over 4 years. Dr Mercier is the most attentive and knowledgeable vet I've ever dealt with and all of the staff are very kind and caring. Never had an issue and will keep going as long as this clinic is open. The prices are fair and more than worth it knowing my pets are in capable hands. I never put a price on those I love, anyway.

This place is not a hospital. Passing by this business causes me great pain. Dr. Chouinard is extremely kind, caring and compassionate. We brought our male cat in as he was suffering from bloody stool and vomitting and they were able to squeeze him in on the same day. The vet tech and Dr were extremely helpful and treated our cat on a "step by step" basis. She did not opt for a complete exam (xrays,blood tests etc) right away. Instead, she started treating the stomache and nausea first before moving on to a more comprehensive exam. This shows us that the Dr based treatment on patient care first and not just money. After 3 days our cat tarted feeling better and more like himself. We even received multiple care calls tonsee how the home care treatments were doing. Fantastic staff!

Wonderful care here of our pet hedgehog at the end of his life. We had some confusion with the vet about how long a certain test would take, but I think that was largely due to high emotion on our part. We were given lots of space and time to make our decision, and everything was explained very clearly. All staff were deeply caring, and even sent a card after we had to put our pet down. We will absolutely be seeing them for all our future pets. It was helpful for me to have a French speaker with me as the vet was unsure of a few English translations of medical terms (a particular type of cancer), but otherwise language was not an issue. Good knowledge of exotic pets.

We booked a euthanasia appointment for our dog the same day - grateful to them for making space, as we ordinarily have a vet further away (just moved to Gatineau last year) and couldn't find a mobile vet that morning - hence the two stars. It ended up being an unexpected emergency, so we called en route and the receptionist told us they would be waiting for us on arrival - in 10 minutes, just after our appointment time. No one was there. It took another 6 mins to get their attention. When a single tech finally came out, our dog was moved into a small room and over the next 8 minutes of waiting, her throat closed up. The tech said they would be right with us, but was clearly irritated at us. Our girl began turning blue in the mouth and was looking at us desperately. Her brain lost oxygen totally, her vision went cloudy and she was sucking for air. We heard the techs laughing in the corridor. My partner went out twice to ask if someone was coming. The vet did finally come and euthanize, and then left with the tech without saying anything. We did not see the vet again, and the tech came back once to ask if we were going to stay in the room. When we went out to pay, the receptionist hardly seemed to know what we just went through, but had a pamphlet for us ready on urns. As a side note, I don't believe the vet was apprised of the urgency at any moment prior to seeing us. I also understand this is not an ER clinic. Nevertheless, I imagine that how this played out fell short of even the clinic's own standards. We are still baffled by the overall tone of antipathy. If you are a vet, please consider training in death work for you and your staff, and have a protocol for ensuring the right tone and process. For others, my recommendation is to avoid this clinic in cases of euthanasia. If you can't get to your own vet (who would most likely care more than this), try to get a mobile vet (at least a day's notice as it seems, in Gatineau) who is trained in demonstrating compassion in these instances. Otherwise, just get in the car and go straight to Ottawa ER.

I love this vet and will be bringing my future rats and reptiles I get to them. I recently had my little boy Shrimp have to be put down from a tumor and they really do seem to care about the client and pet. I brought him in before and since its covid I couldn't go in for the first appointment but the calls were thorough and everything was explained well. No surprises or worry when he was in there. I called after twice to just ask more questions and the vet was more then happy to answer any questions I had. When my little boy was put down I felt like he was in good hands and knew that they would make him comfortable. They sent me a card in condolence of him passing and was hand written. My cat got sick rather suddenly just after the holidays & our usual vet wouldn't be able to see us for a few days. Since I couldn't stand to let him suffer that long, I called Hôpital Vétérinaire Taché & they got us an appointment the next day. Easy to find location, ample parking with great snow clearing, (which was a relief as few things are as annoying as having to slide all over an icey lot while carrying a cat carrier,) animal comfortable setting with very friendly staff. The vet we saw was equally helpful and very kind to my furry friend, who instantly liked her, (even after the poking and prodding that followed.) She was also very understanding that because it was just after the holidays, we had to work within a budget.

We live in Ottawa but will drive to Veterinary Hospital Tache in Gatineau as their prices are reasonable. We have been bringing our two dogs and they are all professional and our dogs are being well taken care of. One of our two dogs is an XL St. Bernese and is very anxious with strangers but the staff can handle him well (with the help of my husband) lol. I don't speak French but communication was never a problem.

Amazing service from both the Doctor and the staff. They are very detailed and care for your pet. The doctor explained everything that was wrong with my little dog and offered different options of treatment. Excellent service, I have been to other vets and they seem greedy about money and your pet comes in second place. This vet didn’t seem like that and they really care about your pet and will not suggest treatments that are not required like other clinics. I recommend this clinic 100%. Also, the Doctor is very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Very happy with the care my baby received.

Very nice staff but not very knowledgeable about cheaper supplies that can be bought in Ontario. I think they take advantage of clients by overcharging. My cat was diagnosed as diabetic and suddenly a month later they instituted a 30$ charge to interpret glucose curve results. Taking my business elsewhere.

The staff and vets here were simply amazing! I had to have my cat put down because of age and health issues and they took care of us like family. They were kind, respectful and very humaine. They didn't rush us and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye to a family member. Unlike other vets, we were not just a number or income to them. I would recommend them to any pet owner and I would definitely go back there. I loved this place when I first discovered it but shortly after I started seeing a short chubby vet with a mowhawk & glasses who started neglecting my dog & making negative comments about his attitude because she was going into sensitive places (he was growling a little bit). Even with the muzzle on she refused to finish our session and had to pay full fee for it. She also told me to bring my dog for behavior therapy and that he would need to be killed if he kept growing with "such a bad growl". I literally thought she was joking at first, considering he is an actual trained therapy dog who was only 8 months old at the time. Guess what aggressive breed my dog is.... a POODLE! I believe this unprofessional weird looking vet is one of the owners of the clinic. Again, everything was 10/10 before we got her. Never been there since.
