(Translated) A loyal client for years, I really appreciated Dr. Lachance. On the other hand, it is a clinic for Anglophones, French people do not feel welcome there. In addition, after spending tons of money on food, medical care and medicine, I was refused an appointment while my dog was dying. He spent the last 8 hours of his life in a clinic he didn't know when there were vets at the Aylmer clinic that day and I said my dog was dying. It is a total lack of responsibility and empathy so this dog had always been cared for at the Aylmer clinic. I will never go back, never recommend this clinic. It hurts to feel rejected as my dog was going through his last moments in pain. (Original) Fidel client durant des années, j'ai beaucoup apprécié Dre Lachance. Par contre, c'est une clinique pour les anglophones, les francos ne s'y sentent pas les bienvenus. De plus, après y avoir dépensé des tonnes d'argent en nourriture, soins et médicaments, je me suis fait refuer un rendez-vous alors que mon chien étant mourant. Il a passé les dernières 8 heures de sa vie dans une clinique qu'il ne connaissait pas alors qu'il y avait des vétérinaires à la clinique Aylmer ce jour-là et que je disais que mon chien était mourant. C'est un total manque de responsabilité et d'empathie alors ce chien avait toujours été soigné à la clinique Aylmer. Jamais je n'y retournerai, jamais je ne conseillerai cette clinique. Ça fait mal de se sentir rejeté alors que mon chien vivait ses derniers instants en douleur.

Always been friendly and helpful. Explaining what's going on in detail. Our cat got in a fight and was shaking his head / ear a lot. We called in the morning and they didn't have any space. They called back 10 mins later and gave us a spot during lunch hour because aforementioned behavior. Great service. Oh and the cat is fine too.

So disappointed in the care my dog got. We went in for what was supposed to be a small surgery, they call mid surgery telling me that she has cancerous tumours and it'll cost an extra $400 dollars if they were to continue with the surgery, how did they not see that the NUMEROUS times i brought her in before? They then tell me surgery went well, but when i go to pick her up the secretary was extremely inconsiderate and rude, we had to pay before even getting to see our dog, we walk in and shes full of tubes and having a seizure?? All the while the doctor is on the phone asking another vet what to do and telling us she can't stay there overnight.... they told us she was FINE! My poor dog ended up dying in their care and i am beyong hurt and disappointed in how everything happend. I will never go there again. Because of them my dog is dead.

Very disappointed. Called in early spring to schedule vaccines and was told to wait as it was too early. I called in the summer to book the vaccines and was then told they were booking out three months. I thought the vaccines in question were due in the summer and asked if that was within the dates for the vaccines and was told it was fine. Now i asked them to send me a vaccine certificate so i can board my dog for a few days and find out half of them are past due. I call to ask them about it and am brushed off by the person on the phone, telling me to go elsewhere and not acknowledging their fault because "she wasn't a part of it." Well great for you, i didnt know my dog was at risk. I have always liked this business, my family has been getting our dogs taken care of here for years. The main reason was how accommodating and friendly they have been to me and my dog. I don't know if they are under new management or something but that interaction sucked and now i have to make other arrangements for this issue and figure out if ill keep coming here at all.

This Vet is Super in every way. It was the worst vet visit I'll hopefully ever have to make and the staff was kind, compassionate, patient, and helpful. We ran into the building in a panic, without an appointment because our little dog was dying in our arms. She was bleeding from the mouth and in horrible distress. They took us in right away, tried to stabilize her and when we had to decide to euthanize her they were supportive, kind, and compassionate. We saw Dr. Cliche and she was wonderful and knowledgeable. MJ was terrific too. I will NEVER use any other vet clinic. They are worth every penny you will spend. You and your pets are patients at this clinic not just a number. This vet has been the best! My baby, Trigger, was with them from the day I got him 9yrs ago until last Friday, when he passed. Dr Lachance was caring for him these last few years and she's amazing. Such a compassionate person who would do anything to make you and your fur baby feel better.. thank you Dr Lachance for making Trigger's end as peaceful as it was :) I'd also like to thank all of the receptionist who over the years have gotten to know us very well.. they are always so kind and helpful. Drs. Terry and Greg Varney looked after our aging Schnauzer for the last Five years of her life, starting at age 11.We had lived in many different cities, but these father and son team were the absolute Creme de la Creme...in terms of service, availability, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, the CARING and EMPATHY and time taken with us and our girl!!! They absolutely GET IT!! At the end of her life, when the terrible decision ultimately had to be made, they were soooo supportive and caring and understanding!! They let us have all the time we needed alone with Heidi following her passing. They don't make vets like these guys anymore... Their care and concern for the pet was always the priority. Costs were very reasonable, and NEVER test- crazy!! God bless them both!! We give them a never ending THANK YOU!!!

She's patient, caring, knowledgeable, and has gone well above and beyond to help our pet (who is quite a special dog - anxiety, skin problems, ear issues, you name it). They are a horrible place ! None of the doctors knew what was wrong with my dog. They put her on multiple medications only to have her undergo a surgery they knew she was not strong enough for. They performed the surgery without even knowing what was going on inside her, there was no z-ray done. Mind you I brought her in several times for them to figure out what was the issue. They lied to me about her health and didn't even call me when she went into shock after the surgery I had to walk in on my poor dog dying and they didn't even tell me !!!! I was devastated and heartbroken I've never seen such an insensitive place. My poor dog was in shock and having seizure after seizure and they knew nothing. They revived her 2 times and continued to let me know that she can't stay the night there and needs to be brought to an overnight facility depending on HOW MUCH I WANTED TO PAY. I AM DISGUSTED WITH THE WAY THEY HANDLED THIS SITUATION there were only two vet technicians who were sympathetic. The surgeon and everyone else were heartless and I'm extremely disgusted by the lack of knowledge these people had. My poor dog my best friend is dead now because of them, when this all could have been avoided if they knew what they were doing. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR LOVING ANIMAL.

Dr. Greg Varney is the absolute best!!! Dr. Varney really does care about your pet and is genuinely concerned when you are. He isn't afraid to tell you like it is & advise you on a better approach. Both of my Rottweilers LOVE him & always let him touch them....which is highly unusual! Highly recommend this VET to anyone living in Ottawa! Take the 20 minute drive across the bridge...it's WORTH IT!

Very unprofessional receptionist whom I spoke with this morning regarding a prescription re-fill. She argued with me and wasn't listening to what I asked. The staff should be trained to manage all clients and not to raise their voices when they are being asked a clear and concise question about a fill of medication. Her response: well they are all very busy. That is not how you talk with a client. If they couldn't provide a service to a non client (as I am new to the Aylmer area) by filling medication - they should have advised appropriately as private information was sent to their office. I will be filing a formal complaint. She then advised how you can cross the interprovincial borders with a sick pet (not sure how this was relevant) however, again this is not how you manage or coordinate client care. Perhaps this clinic should be determining whom they hire as their frontline.

Best vet clinic with the most competitive price around Ottawa/Gatineau. The place itself is a bit dirty but the staff are very friendly and attentive. They take there time to answer all your questions promptly. There is always a wait time once inside, but usually not over 5-10 minutes. The place is a bit out of the way (middle of nowhere), but still worth it.

No star!! Everytime I pass this vet clinic I feel angered sad and disgusted. My whole family is traumatized from this experience. We brought our family pet there because she was not well. We were giving a bunch of pills to buy, just by examining her stomach. She was on the pills for two weeks and did not make her better. we were told that she needed to be operated, we accepted, brought her in... while operating on our pet they called and said that they found a tumor and asked what did we want to do... of course we told them to remove it. I was astounded that they hadn’t done an X-ray before proceeding to operate on our pet. Anyway we were supposed to pickup Roxy our pet that evening after work . we were ready to go get her and we got told to wait and they would call us for when to come to the clinic. Arrived at the clinic with my whole family, they wouldn’t let us see our pet until I had paid for the operation and the pills for the recovery process. I did that and got to see Roxy. She was still on the operating table with only her neck moving she was paralyzed from neck down. The vet reassured us that this was temporary and “that she did a great job” she was boasting about how well she had done the surgery. We thought it was weird how she was acting but whatever we were happy to know our pet was going to be alright. From what we were seeing was the opposite. She looked awful and was trying so hard to breathe and was shivering uncontrollably. The vet‘s assistant put a warm blanket on her and that didn’t help. Nothing worked they had her on a respiratory system no better the vet finally got on the Internet to lookup why she wasn’t getting better from the operation. She told us that earlier after the operation the dog had been walking around and everything seemed fine. It’s just in afternoon that she started exhibiting these problems. Obviously a lie, Roxy looked as if she had never been of the operating table. It was getting late and they wanted us to leave with the Roxy in that condition. I said no we would not leave until our pet’s health was stable. They told us that we would have to find another clinic because the were closing. In all this commotion our Roxy died in front of us while they were trying to get us to leave. She was not strong enough for the surgery and they should have told us that. I wouldn’t recommend this veterinary clinic. This was one of the worse days of our lives.

Not worth the visit. We have had terrible service over the years and it has gotten worse. We wait over 30 mins for the vet inside the room after our appointment time. Front desk staff is not friendly. We were not told about ‘side effects’ of spaying our dog and now she suffers from constant incontinence . We can’t get medication without a checkup even though it’s a chronic condition. We were charged interest on a vaccine that they forgot to give us and charge us for, the first time. We have gone to another vet who makes us feel welcome and love our dogs like family.

Great experience! Recently moved to the area and had been looking for a reputable vet. had tried 3 preivous (one was outside of the city as well as country vets may be lower costs) however Dr. Lachance and her technician Erin were so caring and wonderful to my cat and costs were about the same as country vet I had tried. My cat had an abscess that they quickly took care of, were thorough and very knowledgable based on pre-exisiting conditions and recommendations for future treatment. When your pet isnt well, it's always comforting to have them treated by experienced, caring and compassionate people - which is what service I received here. Highly recommend.

This is by far the best veterinary clinic I have ever taken my animals to. The staff are very kind and caring and also don't push unneeded tests just to make money as I've experienced in the past at other vets. In January I had to euthanize my senior dog and throughout the whole process, I was treated with such compassion and kindness. I was allowed to take my time with her before and after, and didn't feel rushed to leave at all. When I finally did leave the room, MJ, one of the ladies at the front counter embraced me with a warm, loving, motherly hug, which made me feel so special. Dr. Choquette is fabulous as well. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an amazing vet and staff! I travel from the Ottawa side. It's definitely worth it!!

I used to go there for my beagle Ellie and my dad had a black lab - Missy (who passed away a few years back). The service Dr. Varney offered was incredible and the prices were pretty average. When she would go in, the vet would cut her nails at no costs after her shots and check ups. The vet and front staff are great, but the prices are insane! We were told that it was 100$ for her boosters. In Ontario it was included in the vaccine price - 40$ or 50$ okay - but 100$ is insane. They also no longer offer complimentary nail cutting after you have an apt and get a few things done. It’s now done by a tech and it’s 30$. At least for 30$ the vet should do it - or like in the past, at no cost. Years ago, on my pet’s first visit, they offered me a little book where the vet signed for her vaccines and wrote info about her - it was a neat thing about that place. Today I had to ask for it and when I asked if the vet could sign it so that I can keep track (after paying 200$ for her first apt and 3 shots - you’d think they would go the extra mile), the lady said “well she can do it next time when she comes for her spaying”. The service is just not the same. It’s just an average vet now. She's kind and on point with the most recent research findings on animal care. Dr Greg Varney is just the best! I had gone to another clinic and was not satisfied with their prognosis taht my cat may have cancer and that it might be time to put him down. So I went to the Aylmer Vet Clinic because they have an ultrasound machine. Well, Dr Varney saved my cat twice! Mr MinMin is now 19 years old and still amazing thanks to him. I will not see any other Vet. I trust him 100% and he is just a very kind man. Staff is super there as well.

We started using the Aylmer Veterinary Clinic 2 years ago after we moved to the Pontiac region. We used their services 4 times with our aging dog and each time we saw a different veterinarian. Each one of the vets were equally professional, competent, caring and compassionate, we always received excellent care and service from the vets as well as the office staff. We had the good fortune to have 9 great years with our dog Archie after adopting him from the Humane Society at the age of 7 and were fortunate not to have encountered any bad experience at any veterinary clinic we used, however, we found that the Aylmer Veterinary Clinic excelled all others, we truly got the sense that they cared more about the animals than their bottom line. Sadly, two weeks ago was our last visit, we had to make the dreaded decision to say goodbye to our beloved dog Archie. Dr. Varney could not have handled the situation any better, with care and companion he guided us through the difficult decision and he made us feel confident that we were making the best decision for our beloved dog, while our hearts were breaking we knew it was time and Dr. Varney made us feel at peace with our decision. Thank you again Dr. Varney and the staff of Aylmer Veterinary Clinic. To Mr. Tonkonogov I can assure you this is not a fake review. Yesterday Feb 3 I called to try and get an appointment for my dog who was in distress. I had made a previous appointment for Feb 6 but could not wait. He was having an allergic reaction to something. I was told there were no openings. I called another clinic and they saw him within 3 hrs. I could excuse this but this is the second time this has happened to me. brought my lab in today bc he has bad diarrhea for a few days now, and saw Dr. Barrette. by far the best and most friendly vet clinic I have experienced since moving to Ottawa 8 yrs ago. I, myslf have approx. 20 yrs working in vet practices and have yet to meet a clinic that does not want to do hundereds of dollars of testing and they know how to pull on heart strings....Alymer Vet DOES NOT do this, and the kids nd ess from the moment I walkd in to the moment I left was a 10 plus...so hands down, I would recommend this clinic to anyone, and again this is coming from someone with a lot of veterinary knowledge...thanks again Alymer Vet, and if any of my pets need your care you will definitely see me again, but I hope not ..and that is being said in a good way ????

The website lied and said they're taking new patients but when I emailed to make an appointment, they said they were not taking new patients. How am I supposed to get my sick cat looked at? Literally every vet is booked up or won't accept new clients. Emergency vets are the only ones open and charge insanely high fees. I had to put my beloved Mika down and they were amazing with me and after also. I recused a little dog from them and she is super I have have to wait for an appointment for nail cutting or other stuff. Have taken her to have her spa day and they cut her nails but not short enough. So back to the vets to get it done. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE AND EVERYONE!

They literally saved my Mithra's life. She had developed a serious infection in her uterus and after all necessary tests to confirm exactly what needed to be done I brought her in for surgery, which they thankfully had room for withing 48 hours. They kept me updated and in contact before, during and after the surgery. I was calling them 2-3 times a day before and after and they were all extremely understanding and patient with me. The staff is very nice and I like the veterinarians that have served me. They can make last minute appointments and I even had a vet willing to see me at closing. The one dislike I had was that they never called me to update my rabies vaccine. My old vet who had transferred all my records to them called to check that I got a call. But regular appointments are hard to get unless they are far ahead of time. Parking lot is a little tricky to maneuver.

We've always had a dog, and moving to the area from out of province, we started seeing Dr Cohen at the Aylmer Vet Clinic. Best vet ever, she's been looking after our Bernese Mountain dog for the last 3 years and its been wonderful. She's earnest, straightforward and has a great bedside manner. I wish she could take on human patients. Also had TPLO here, with Dr. P., the recovery time was less than expected, and she was like a new dog. We have a pup with special needs and everytime we've gone back we have a different vet that we have to re-explain our dogs situation to - out of the two vets we've seen neither has really seemed to know how to relate to our pooch. The concerns we've brought forward were addressed in a very 'doctor knows best' manner (less active listening and asking and more telling you about your own experience). So far we haven't encountered a doctor that's the right fit for us but we've had really positive experiences with their vet techs and some of their administrative staff. They seem to have a large roster of vets so I'm sure they have someone for everyone, it's just a matter of advocating to find the right person for your family's needs.

It is unfortunate that I have to rate this clinic so low. The services provided here are top of the line and you can guarantee knowledgeable vets and great care! My dogs love going there however the front desk customer service is now horrendous. I call very frequently due to both my animals being on long-term medication and I order my food there as well. My experience has been that there are only 2 receptionists who are pleasant to speak with and who go above and beyond each time I call : Sue M and Ashley! My recommendation for clients is if you do have a complex issue, ask for them as you can tell they care a lot about the jobe and they always ensure the problem gets fixed! Even when they had to tell me things I didn't want to hear, they were very friendly and offered other solutions to put my mind at ease. The other receptionists make me feel like I am a burden for calling and I am often scared to ask questions due to the way they handle situations. I dealt with a gentlemen named Sam last week and he was extremely rude on the phone. He didn't give me the time of day to explain what I needed and promised the vet would call me that day which was not true as the vet was not even working. My neighbour told me that she had a very bad experience with this recepetionist as well where he hung up on her and told her he didn't care that she was upset. This clinic was known for being treated like family but unfortunately it seems the managers have hired some terrible receptionists in the last few years who are unprofessional which is ultimately ruining this business. It is really too bad!

Used to love this veterinary clinic, staff has always been great and they always put you and your pet first, but sadly since Dr. T. Varney left it has been on a steady decline. They have become about how much money they can get instead of the well being of your pet. They are always over booked and the wait times are crazy even though they have twice as many veterinarians as they did in previous years. I miss when Dr, T. Varney was in charge.

Excellent service, knowledgeable staff. I have been using this clinic since 1991. I've had four dogs over this period of time -- a lab/german pointer that was was 15 years, a husky that had to be put down at 2 years, a russell/lab that was three months shy of 17 years. When my current dog, a 3 year old great dane that I got last summer, needed medical attention, I brought him to Aylmer -- even though I have a couple of clinics that are closer. I am still impressed with the quality of service I receive.

The lady tells me that they are very busy until the end of August even after telling her my case. I repeat my story and add that I had a good comment on their service. The answer that tells me ... I had to plan ahead and go see another vet as they are busy and return at the end of August .. I remain feeling a word and insult. Ont me dit par la suite pour honorée ma garantie je dois voir un vet dans les 7jours ouvrable . Donc la raison de mon appel . La dame me dit qu'ils sont très occupé jusqu a la fin août même après lui avoir dis mon cas . J'ai répéter mon histoire en ajoutent que j'avais eux un bon commentaire de leur service. La réponse quelle me dit... fallais que je prévois avant et d'aller voir un autre vet vu qu'ils sont occuper et retourner à la fin août.. j'ai rester sent mot et insulter. J'espère quelle s'attend pas je retourner loll.. heureusement j'ai trouvé un autre vet ..
