Friends recommended this clinic to us recently and we are glad for it. Our cat was very well looked after and she is wearing her Cone of Shame like a crown! The staff were very friendly and getting everything set up as a new client was quick and easy. When we picked up our baby girl we had our baby boy get his booster and deworming. Dr. Dahliwhal is a very kind and gentle caregiver and dealt with our hesitant little guy. The clinic is clean and bright and we felt very comfortable with our cats being there. Lincoln the Guard Cat was there to say "HI" and he was happy to greet our girl before her spaying. To see such a chill and friendly Guard Cat on site tells you that he is in a place where he gets lots of love and care. When our little boy is old enough we'll be pleased to have his neutering done here as well.

Horrible experience at this vet office. Came in with my dog who has never been here before, and all of the staff are apparently scared of large dogs. Instead of a single staff member attempting to let my dog sniff their hand, they instead just left us in a room for 45 minutes while my dog proceeded to get more stressed due to hearing noise in the hall. Finally we got to see a vet tech, who once again won’t even let my dog sniff their hand, hides behind the counter and gets ME to give him a treat, completely defeating the purpose. After then bringing in a MUZZLE (which my dog has never needed in any vet office before), they leave us alone again. Do not bring your large dogs here, as the staff are apparently terrified of them.

I am unable to explain exactly how much having a vet that cares as much about the animals he & his team care for means to me & my family. I was so heartbroken that I don't even know if I thanked you two for all your help. Very grateful to have you take the care you do of all the airdales. I am so sorry for how everything worked out with Kandi, I know that it cannot be easy to euthanize & there are literally no words to tell you how extremely grateful I am for how you helped her. I am willing to come from Edmonton, AB to bring my babies here, that is how good this place & the people who work here are. The Dr. cares for my families pack of airdales & in the future, my kitties. Drive 2 hours (past numerous other vets) just to come here for the awesome service. Brought 8 puppies in for vaccinations & vet check yesterday & the veterinarian & staff are phenomenal. The puppies loved Dr. Dhaliwal & he was so gentle & thorough. They have answered numerous phone calls to give advice until the puppies could be brought in & are beyond professional & caring. My dogs have been going to this clinic for a couple of years, but my visit this week as the first time since change of ownership. We were hesitant, but felt we would not listen to the negative reviews. I can tell you that it was a very pleasant experience. Dr. Dhaliwal was very patient with my two dogs, and very caring. My dogs are 10 and 8, and I have never seen them this comfortable with a veterinarian. He took his time to earn their trust. Do not let the negative reviews keep you away from this practice. The only reason for 4 stars was the front staff was new and it was a little slower than I would have liked, but still very friendly and a very minor inconvenience. Will be back for sure!

This review will not do this clinic justice! The staff at Gentle Pet Clinic went so far above and beyond for us. We have many local vet options here in Grande Prairie AB but willingly make the 2+hr drive just to receive exceptional service at Gentle Pet Clinic. They are professional, prompt, non judgmental and their prices are unbeatable. It is so very obvious to see they have a true heart for your pet's health and well being. We know because we came in with hard situations (for us and them) and walked away having received the best pet care we could have imagined. So before you start accusing me of fake reviews maybe you should check your facts and also address all the fake 5 star reviews from your pals in Surrey. You should look up the word "Ethics" it may help you. - AWFUL AWFUL PLACE NOW - This place is under new ownership. I HIGHLY recommend you do not take your pets here, the new Vet and owners do not give a sense of assurance or competency. This place has gone downhill. Old Review BEFORE DR. Worst experience ever. Didn't even start the appointment, and my dog was only going in for a groom. If you love your dog then don't take it to Terill Udenberg. The only animal he cares about are his own. He would just as soon as kick yours and spit on you while doing it. Never ever have I been treated so horribly or unprofessionally.

Both our fur babies are healthier and happier than ever. Been a rough 2 years with trusting the other clinic in town and didn't realise we were slowly hurting both our babies with misinformation and improper diagnosis. Lack of care and treatment from the other highly recommended vet in town almost cost us both our pets. The day we switch over to Dr. D we instantly saw the improvement in their quality of life n health. I'm forever grateful and in their debt that they took my call way past midnight for an emergency and saved our baby when the other place didn't answer and had previously charged us exorbitantly during a weekend. Dr. D has been taking care of our diabetic 7 yr old dog as well as our 4 yr old cat and we are so grateful that we finally have someone that we trust. We love and appreciate all the hard work that Dr. D and his amazing team have put into making the place what it is today and continue to give our babies as well as the many that we see the appropriate care and love that they deserve.

I want to say thanks to all the clinic staff and especially to the Dr. Dhaliwal. He treated our dog very well. During and after the neutering operation (which I was very worried and scared about) the nurse constantly kept me informed, telling how my dog was feeling (she called when his blood test was done, she called when he was put under anaesthetic, once the procedure ended etc.). Doctor is very attentive to both the patients and their owners. Despite his young age, the doctor is a professional. It is obvious that a person loves his job very much! The clinic is wonderful, all the staff are polite, attentive, the clinic is clean, with pleasant atmosphere. Me and my pet are very satisfied. Will definitely be back! ????????????

Dr. Dahliwal is associated with two practices that I am familiar with in Metro Vancouver. In his practice here he took the time to assess the situation, provided backup and follow up, and developed a thoughtful approach to managing the issues. I was very impressed by his analytical approach, and his recommendations. My only regret is that this practice is not closer to my home so that I could rely on Dr. Dahliwal's expertise full time.

After having a vet cancel on us then two other clinics refuse to fix our boy we where really thankful that this vet had said yes however last minute they phoned us saying that their vet was late and we couldnt have him fixed (which also makes no sense you have ONE vet for your WHOLE office) and then refused to pick up our phone call even though we had phone almost directly after. Absolutely baffled me and extremly frustrating especially for out little dude who needs to get fixed right away and this office KNEW the importance of it. Not to mention your vet is late?? Thats a pretty upsetting exuse and that has ruined our nuter and schedule. Not to mention once they opened I've been on my phone trying to call them for 10 straight minutes and they will not pick up. Even thought they TOLD us to call them for a new appointment. Seriously the service is a joke.

Our cat swallowed a sewing needle (she won't eat food off the floor but she'll eat metal when it falls on the floor. My wife even tried to fight it away from her and got scratched up). We took her here for surgery. I guess the price wasn't too bad considering and the cat has recovered well.

They have provide excellent care to all my dogs that have visited the clinic. He and staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I think Gentle pets is the best vet in town. We just recently had to say goodbye to our dog Christmas eve. This was the only vet clinic open and they took us in right away, they did all the possible tests on our dog that they were needed, unfortunately the liver had ruptured and there was nothing we could do to save her, 10 years of the best dog ever. From the moment we called, to arriving we had a good feeling with the caring staff and overall atmosphere. Dr Daliwal was very thorough with explaining all test, even showed us all the results. And the best part was they let us take are time spending the last hours with our dog, I swear we took 5 hrs of thier time, and they never rushed us nor were they rude, and it was after closing to. I've been to other vets where they like to rush you. I have nothing but nice stuff to say about this vet clinic and I recommend Gentle pets to other animal lovers, Gentle pets will always be my vet from now on.

We have a senior Great Dane who does not do well in small examining rooms. Dr. Dhaliwal was able to see us within 1 hour of calling, on a Sunday, for an emergency examination. They called in extra help from one of their experienced assistants due to the size and possible temperament of my dog. After x-rays, blood work and a brief yet necessary surgery, we called it a day. Dr. Dhaliwal and his wife, as well as their assistant who was called on short notice, all gave up their entire Sunday to make sure my dog was taken care off. I was ready see an invoice that reflected as much, however that never came. What I paid for was reasonable rates for extraordinary service. We are originally from Edmonton, and I can honestly say our old vet would have charged us double (which would have been totally understandable). Dr. Dhaliwal and his team are the true definition of what this community needs. Honest people with integrity and compassion, who go well above and beyond the expected duties of their practice. We are lucky to have them. Thank you.

EDIT #2: Firstly; I never worked for you. ever. I dont have any certification as a vet or a groomer so you wouldn't want me working for you, either. Just saying. Secondly; maybe tell your staff you accept the certificates because I was told by them that you don't. Poor business practice. Finally; Those women never did anything but open their own business and be honest as to why. How dare this "owner" claim these reviews are one angry fired employee. Shame on you! EDIT: Because the owner seems excited to accuse every negative review as being fake-- Yes! I'm not in your system! I thankfully never ended up scheduling an appointment after the appalling statements I heard, and I never will after researching this business. Will not work with the local SPCA, unable to take my cat there with my vet examination certificate. Would have been happy to pay for the examination had I not been told that their reasoning for not accepting such certificates or working with the rescue/SPCA is "They won't pay us more money." How can you claim to care for animals when you refuse to work with local rescues and shelters. Also please check their 5 star reviews, as they have shocked me. Most of the reviewers are from Vancouver area with only one review posted on their account for this specific clinic. Further research after this showed the previous owner sold this business to the current owner, and upon this transfer a good portion of the staff left to open their own grooming clinic due to "unprofessional behavior, harrassment, and animal neglect." It's only after this came out and according reviews were posted that suddenly this business had an massive influx of positive reviews from southern BC. Shady, money focused, allegedly abusive to animals. Please research your veterinarians locally and take these review pages with a grain of salt. Avoid this clinic. Avoid Avoid Avoid. Go to ANY other clinic.

Yesterday when i visited my veterinary hospital in Vancouver i came to know that my veterinarian Dr Harpreet Dhaliwal , has moved to Fort Saint John and take over the new clinic , he is the one who saved my dog cairo who ingested a sugar free gum and I panicked and called so many clinics but unfortunately so many clinics are close around 9 pm !!! It was him who helped me at 11:30 and make my dog vomited and check all the vital signs of cairo and told me that cairo is hypoglycaemic, needs critical care and keep him under observation for 24 hours and stayed with my fur baby for whole night !!! As you are not here anymore , i would love to extend my appreciation for you through this and i am so grateful to you and highly recommend you !!! Thank you , thank you , thank you for your services !!!!!!

So I gave the 5 star rating and no comment. Over a week ago Monday we had our 7 year old dog in for dental work. I was hesitant.... Walked in was greeted warmly, day 2 our dog was much improved in only way I as her "person" can tell... Eating, mannerisms, playfulness, general behavior... Maybe she was in more pain than I had known and our dog just didn't show it. On antibiotics just in case as per any surgical removal.... I'm very pleased with service. Word of mouth is the biggest advertising tool both in positive and negative experiences. I was on the fence prior, am so glad we went here❤️

Hands down one of the best pet clinics I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. Performs testing that other clinics won’t typically bother with (microbiological tests). Diagnosed a simple yeast infection for my dog that other clinics never investigated and threw antibiotics at. Also performed blood work and walked us through the results. A mixed experience: I called the after hours emergency line multiple times with no answer but the clinic was able to fit me in same day when I called within business hours. Dr. D is very caring and thorough with his tests/exams and is willing to explain the results to you. The clinic was accommodating and allowed me to come visit my cat while he was being kept overnight. The communication among the staff could be improved as the techs often had to relay my questions to the doctor; maybe creating a patient discharge teaching sheet would be helpful. The clinic cat, Lincoln, is friendly and helps pass time while waiting. The clinic could benefit from a tidy up front, however the back is very clean. The final bill was double what was quoted...the tech had informed me the bill might change from the quote, however I had not anticipated such a drastic difference. When it was time to take my cat home, he was given to me in his kennel but his pillow was missing. It was returned to me when I asked for it.

I take all my pets to Gentle Pet. The staff is truly caring and amazing. I have been through a lot with my 4 dogs and in this last year unfortunately I have lost 2 of my older dogs and the staff was very kind and compassionate. This past week I brought my new puppy in for her first check up. After I brought her home she got into something and got very sick. I was so scared and so worried, I was worried she was going to die. X Rays showed her little intestines were plugged solid with something and we had no idea what. It was looking like surgery. Dr Udenberg was very very good with her. After a couple days of his recommendations we were able to get things moving and we figured out she got into some clumping cat litter, which is not good. As of this morning I feel she is on the mend and I am very thankful for Dr. Udenberg and the staff at Gentle Pet for all of their help in saving my new babies life. If you want the best care for your pets then take them to Gentle Pet!

My experience with Dr. Dhaliwal has always been nothing but pleasant. He helped us through every question/concern since the day we brought our puggle, Milo, home at 10 weeks old. He always made every vet visit such a breeze, from vaccines and checkups, to getting our puppy neutered, Milo came back happy and comfortable every time. After an extremely scary situation of my puppy eating something he shouldn’t have, we rushed to the clinic, where his whole staff dropped everything and took on our emergency situation. He saved my dogs life and we are forever grateful! Its unfortunate people are making false accusations about this clinic and its quality of care, because Dr. Dhaliwal is truly passionate about what he does and it shows with the way he handles animals. We were saddened to hear about his recent move to Fort St. John, but we wish him the best of luck with his new endeavours!

I came in with my dog needing a large but superficial wound stitched a day and a half after initial injury, they did their check over and we got her in within half hour for the surgery. They did not try any extra upsells or unnecessary tests. They did what needed done not what would make them more money. They listened to everything I had to say regarding my animal and the nature of the injury. I have worked in the veterinary field and seen my fair share of vets and this was by far my best experience. Highly recommend.

Terrible service, and be aware that the “positive reviews” are left by people who don’t live here and do not use this vet clinic. Spoke to someone over the phone and ended up having to explain a simple procedure multiple times before giving up and calling elsewhere, where they knew immediately what I was talking about. Scary!

This animal hospital, is the ABSOLUTE BEST in FORT St. JOHN. the Veterinarians always always, go Above and Beyond!! Specially DR DHALIWAL. I went there with my cousin when his pet was sick and they fixed it all. Doctor and all the staff that work at this hospital are the BEST!! Everyone out there, try this hospital, you will not be disappointed. They treat your animals how they should be treated, with love and great care. I wish them great future ????????????????

Idk if i should be posting 2 star because they did handle my felines awesomely, but hear me out. They told me the felines vaccines would only be 20 dolllars, fast forward when i come in and they do the vaccines the total comes up to 200+$. She then asked me if that was okay , i was like uhhh well i guess?, I checked the receipt after the fact and they charged me 60+ for their "exams" Litteraly all he did was weigh them, check there heartbeat and did a quick look, How is that 60+ $?? I only have 2 cats btw. USING A FAKE NAME AS I WONT POST MY REAL NAME, CALL THIS A FAKE REVIEW I WILL POST PICS OF THE RECEIPT .

New ownership. Terrible. Go elsewhere. Dont trust good reviews as he is padding them. As per your response I have had a friend who attended your clinic. Most of your staff have left in disgust. Hands down the best care for your furry friends in town. They are easy to get into, flexible, reasonably priced (and willing to give you all your options for cost) and most importantly; they LOVE animals. There is a separate entrance for the less "sociable" dogs which take away the stress of trying to get your pup into the room without incident. 10 stars!

We have been taking our cats and dogs to Gentle Pet ever since Dr. Spicer moved there to practise. We loved both Dr. Spicer and Dr. Udenberg but have recently become very concerned with the level of care at Gentle Pet. On a recent appointment with Dr. D I became very alarmed at some of the things he said and did. 1) he stated that he didn't need a vet tech on staff because anyone in BC can initiate an IV or take blood from an animal, as long as a veterinarian was on premises. I found his lack of insight into why this could be an issue quite alarming. Just because you can do this doesn't mean you should do this... 2) he was very pushy in trying to get me to make a decision for my dog's future care. He wanted me to make a decision as quick as possible, even though I was emotionally distressed. In all my years of caring for animals I have never encountered this level of pressure. 3) he really pushed the pet food his clinic was selling and didn't seem interested in hearing about what I was already feeding my dog for her condition. 4) his quote for surgery was $700 greater than that of another local veterinary clinic. 5) he has VERY poor bedside manner. He was very cold. He said he was blunt to me because I am health care professional and can handle it. No, still not appropriate when dealing with someone's fur-kid. 6) I find it deeply concerning that the majority of the original staff are no longer employed there. This raises major alarm bells for me. 7) A trusted vet tech's review of Dr. D really helped us to trust our gut with this veterinarian. 8) Lastly, when I asked him what happened to the former staff he began to bad mouth a few of them. I won't go into details but I found this very unprofessional. Trust your gut feeling.

I want to thank Vet and entire team of Gentle Pet Clinic for helping us even during easter longweekend on Sunday. Our Sadie was shaking and trembling badly and the Vet took us right away into the clinic and perform radiographs and Blood work . Unfortunately our Sadie was diagnosed with large tumor on her spleen but the new Vet was very honest and told us everything in detail and discuss the prognosis with us. We had to let her go peacefully. She lived her beautiful life without any major concerns throughout her life. We like to thank the team of Gentle Pet Clinic for helping us during this difficult times. We highly recommend this vet clinic, as we find them very reasonable , genuine and helpful !!

Amazing staff! My dog can be a handful sometimes especially new places, but he was so laid back in this atmosphere and was so calm for the vet and staff. I would highly recommend this facility for you K9 companions needs.

2nd Edit: we have an appointment tomorrow at a different office for the dog who's file I asked to be transferred. I confirmed today during our appointment reminder call that the files were never transferred. Edit: "Now that they're trying to say it is a fake review, I somewhat wish I hadn't taken down my tagged photos. Regardless, I stand by my statement. When I called to get my files transferred the owner didn't even ask for my first name. Just took the dogs name and said he would get to it when he can" Unfortunately with the sale of the practice, the quality and compassion have suffered greatly. They're also flooding reviews from people who have never been to the clinic.

DO NOT GO HERE. UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT, AND THE VET IS HORRIBLE. SHOULD BE 0 STAR REVIEW. I wont be back. The groomer that was under OLD management was great to deal. She let me come to the back with her, let me help hold and comfort him while she was doing what she had to do. Then the new management took over. I booked the same appointment, with the same groomer, they gave me a time and I came when I was supposed to. I got there, reception had no idea about the appointment and told me that the groomer had gone home hours ago. RED FLAG #1 She said it was okay, that the vet (Harpreet Dhaliwal) on duty could do what the groomer did. I assumed it would be okay and it's a simple procedure. I started to come back with him, like before, but he didnt want me to, and told me to stay up at the front and cover my ears. RED FLAG #2 I could hear my dog yelping from the front counter.... it was awful. I couldn't wait to leave. Go anywhere but here!

Absolutely horrific experience! Tossed our very sick pup on the table and refused to even look at the dog because another member of the family was trying to get ahold of Rivers Animal hospital. They wanted us to "get off the phone or take the dog somewhere else and be charged over $1000". I highly recommend going absolutely anywhere else for vet care!!

I WILL NEVER BE BACK HERE AGAIN. I took my dog to see DR. Dhaliwal, I warned him before hand that my pug is hard of vision and that you have to put her first and approach from front or she will snap. Dr. Dhaliwal went ahead anyway and pulled my pug closer to him by grabbing his leg and pulling him closer.... well of course my little gal snapped. This is where it went down hill fast, he then grabbed her and knocked her into the table and proceeded to pinch her ear until she squealed and appeared to do in anger or revenge. Needles to say I walked out there and reported him to College of Veternary Medicine. He was actually cruel to my little gal and she was so scared.

I've had two different dogs in the clinic. Both times they were kind, caring, and genuinely wanted to help. This last time I bought my dog Sierra in to be spayed and she was done by the end of the day. We took her back home and the next day you couldn't even tell she had surgery. It took everything in my power to try and keep her calm and to rest up. This is why I drive the hour to Fort St John just for them. Also, the cost can't be beat! They undercharge for their services (should I have kept that a secret? haha) by a good amount. Even with the cost of driving to FSJ it still brings it under the local cost which I have to wait months just to get a surgery appointment. For anyone who accuses this of a fake review feel free to contact me directly. I will explain the same thing for both my dogs.
