Terrible, uncaring and rude staff! Waiting on some very important test results for our fur baby and its already been 4 days and still no results. Tried calling only to be put on hold several times and finally being hung up on. When I finally talked to someone she was so rude! Her answer was "your just gonna have to wait for the vet to call you back, we are dealing with an emergency here". I completely understand emergencies arise, but it's been 4 days and still no results. We have been through so much with our cat and have spent thousands in the past 4 weeks to help him heal. It has been both mentally and physically exhausting on everyone. The least they can do is be a little compassionate over the phone and during our check ups.I would not recommend this hospital. He had to be referred to the Guardian Animal hospital in Edmonton for surgery and procedures and spent a week there. "All" of the staff there are amazing, compassionate and very knowledgable. What a difference.

We had to bring our cat to the emergency vet, and it just so happened that the Fort McMurray Animal Hospital was on call. They did everything they needed to do to help him, and were very thorough with his treatment. I am so pleased with the quality of care he was given, and recommend the Fort McMurray Animal Hospital 100000/10.

The staff were good. I am very appreciative that the vet and tech came after hours to see my kitty. That being said, the lack of the other two stars is due to pricing and making me feel guilty when I inquired about putting my cat down, not that I was going to anyway. Not everyone has thousands of dollars to pay for surgeries. I know clinics have to pay to run their business, but holy cow. If there is next time, I will be taking my cats to Athabasca. I will probably do that in general. Thank you for all you did for my kitty.

Impossible clinic to get a hold of. I had my dog put down on the long weekend of September and paid to have her cremated. I have been trying for over two weeks to get a hold of someone to find out where my girl is. One week of mailbox full and now it rings about 8 times and hangs up and can’t leave any message. I want to bring my girl home

Awful customer service and no sympathy for fur parents who lost their pets. I wasn't looking for a lost parcel, it's my puppy's ashes, there's a big difference right there. I guess that explains the star rating.

I've seem cats after they've been neutered, and I've never seen anything like what they did to my cat.. they either need to find a new way to do it, like actual vet hospitals! My cats downstairs is a mess. I've never seen it like that before, my other cat had his done and there was no mess, and not as much pain, Deffinetly not as much as my current cat does right now. I will never ever go back to this place again!! I will go to a real vet next time, one that does it right! And they also charge double what other animal hospitals cost. Make sure to do your research as well before going to this one.

I recently had to use this vet Clinic with my black pug Jacques because my regular vet did not have any emergency appointments available and he was showing signs of a urinary blockage. The only reason they even get a 1 star rating is because they got him in, my experience at the 2 appointments I’ve had to have with this animal hospital were absolutely atrocious and deserve a zero star rating! The staff had very little care to no compassion for my dog Jacques and after little testing or consult recommended he go to Guardian Vet Specialist - in the two appointments I had the vet spent less than 10 minutes talking to me or discussing his options, even after I told them I was on a limited budget they left my only option at heading to the specialist vet. Even when I consulted both vets (fmah and guardian) about an estimated cost for a treatment/diagnostic so I could possibly get together the money needed - but neither clinic bothered to even call me back!!! Not to mention the cost over the 2 appointments was already over $1400 and they did not allow me in treatment areas or to stay with my dog at all!!!! When I called fmah they voiced their disappointment that I did not head straight off to guardian and were hesitant to even prescribe antibiotics to my dog! After being able to get in and be seen at Wood Buffalo Small Animal Hospital he was diagnosed as having benign prostatic hyperplasia and would instead need a neuter surgery as a first line treatment! The wonderful Vet I saw at WBSAH spent the entire hour I was there explaining to me the other vets testing (which she never bothered to do herself) and allowing me to stay with my dog during the whole appointment and be present during the testing needed to diagnose him (ultrasound and cathaterization) and did not once pressure me to get him to the specialty vet clinic before she did her absolute best - the difference in care was astonishing as well as the difference in cost was staggering!!!! The fmah left me with the only option of getting the most expensive vet in Alberta to look at my dog or basically get him put down because the cost is too much, that is completely unfair and had me in tears for a couple days thinking the only options I had would be go bankrupt or say goodbye to a dog I’ve had since his birth. It makes it very obvious the clinic is in it for the money only and not the care and compassion of the living beings it’s in charge of taking care of! I would never recommend this vet and go as far as saying they should be ashamed of themselves!!!

Waking up to a sick puppy is never good. Trying to reach Vets in Fort McMurray is almost impossible and if they are not the ones on call then you are out of luck. Finally when I reached one office they told me they had no openings but I could go on a wait list but unfortunately they didn't think I would get in. We finally reached Fort McMurray Animal Hospital and they were so quick to act and told us to bring in our puppy right away. After 2 days of our puppy getting terrific care we took her back home. She is not out of the woods yet but is scheduled for an operation in Edmonton. I believe that if they hadn't let us come in right away we probably would have lost our little puppy. We can't thank them enough for their care, service and compassion when looking after our pet.

When my boy snorted a dandelion on a walk the staff at the Fort McMurray Animal Hospital were very helpful. The poor little pooch was sneezing and ungodly amount of blood due to the irritation caused by those pesky weeds. The staff here had my boy feeling better in no time.

Took my dog there over an ear infection (for the second time because it was not clearing up and she has been miserable wearing a cone for months) and I have never heard my poor dog screech as hard as she did while they “cleaned her ear”. When the vet asked if I wanted my pups nails trimmed for an extra fee, I politely denied as we have our own set of clippers and nail files we use ourselves at home. After this she was rude and ignorant the entire time with me not to mention she maybe spoke/looked at my dog for maybe 5-10 minutes if that. When I brought up the “wart like spots” my dog has all over her body which she has been picking at vigorously for months to the point of bleeding, I was told it was from old age. When I brought up her cloudy eyes, I was told it was cataracts from again, old age. When I brought up her heart murmur, I was told it was from old age. Thanks but didn’t need to book an appointment for these people to tell me my dog was old. I booked an appointment for them to figure out what was wrong with my dog and prescribe her some medication which they did (poorly) because they prescribed her the wrong medication which made her ear worse for weeks. After months of my dog being in pain and torture from the lack of care this place offers the Wood Buffalo Small Animal Hospital did a fantastic job at not only figuring out what was wrong with my dog, prescribing the CORRECT medication and taking the time to explain how to get her feeling better. They also prescribed her 2 antibiotics and a cream to apply over her spots to help get rid of them. They spent at least 30 minutes looking over my dog and talking/explaining to us what was going on and what the plan was from here on out. Her heart murmur was also not because she was old as I was previously told, it could be a cause from the ear infection and her cloudy eyes are not cataracts but simply glaucoma so thank you to the downtown animal hospital who not only misdiagnosed 3 of my dogs problems but also treated all of them incorrectly/ignored them altogether. It has been 3 days since we went to WBSAH and my dog is 100% back to herself and hasn’t touched the spots on her, picked at her ear and her ear is also 70% cleared up already. Thanks for all the help you didn’t provide downtown Fort McMurray Animal Hospital and thank you to WBSAH to the fantastic service you provided and for bringing my happy amd playful dog back to her normal self.

Originally had an appointment for 11am and the day before I was contacted and told that it had been moved back to 11:30. I arrive at 11:30 and then told my appointment had been 11:15 and that they would have to reschedule. I received nothing but attitude from the receptionist and basically I made the change of appointment up and that they wouldn’t be about to see my pup. I’ll take my business elsewhere if this is the kind of operation they are running.

Like the vet there and my dog surgery went well. My only complaint is they r too hard to get ahold to on phone .Dont know if they don't keep a receptionist on hand for phone calls, I have been trying for two days so frustrating

Brought my dying chinchilla to be put down. I had to pay an extra 200$ for a vet who deals with exotic pets. The vet has never seen a sick chinchilla. Then sent out blood work to be back the next day so we can see what steps to do next. I got a call a week later saying they didn’t even get enough blood from her the first time. And she died two hours after the appointment. The front staff was compassionate, but the manager was rude, insensitive and was borderline yelling at me over the phone. Terrible service, never trusting this place with another animal

Bought our 14 year old pet to be put down because he was suffering. They quoted my mother $177.00 when we arrived at the Hospital they took our furry family member In the back and placed a catheter in him returning shortly only to say that the total bill was going to $436.00 to have him put down. Who does this to a person on fixed income. They claimed it was a emergency call which it wasnt. We paid and left. Later it was suggested after my wife called that our furry friend was not looked after and in poor health that is why he was brought in. I mean really??? we had him for 14 years.. PEOPLE DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE WITH YOUR PETS BEWARE!!! THE ADDED PRICES!!!

TERRIBLE! My husband took our female dog to this vet this morning and was very disappointed with a few different things. First off, they took x-rays which was fine and he was told that it was only a soft tissue injury which I figured anyway but better safe than sorry. Then he was told she had to stay off her leg for a week (meaning from walks) and there would be medication given to him at the front desk. The first two things were fine but I do not understand why the vet could show him what he was suppose to give and not just assume he knew what to do or that her staff would show him. Secondly, when he received the medication from the front desk staff he asked about it and they simply said 'READ THE BOX.' REALLY??? Are you that lazy that you cannot explain how it's to be used since apparently the Vet is leaving that up to you?? Thirdly, I don't know what they did during the x-rays but our poor dog is in more pain now then when she went there!! That's what infruruaites me the most about the whole visit! I don't mind spending money to make sure my animals are well looked after but to come home in more pain then when they left does not impress me AT ALL! I feel so sorry for her and horrible that she's in more pain now then before. I DO NOT recommend the downtown vet clinic. We will NOT be returning!

Brought our cat here to get spayed. I was given a quote and told the receptionist I did not want the $105 microchip that was included in the quote. The receptionist responded no problem. I then asked a question about if she is in heat and about CPR costs. I signed the papers, gave her the cat and left. I picked my cat up later that day and was informed that they put the microchip in and charged me for it. The manager wasn’t in to talk about this at the time. The next day the manger called me back and asked what happened and told me she had to talk to the receptionist and would call me back. The manager did not call me back. Later that day I went in and the manager was not in and the receptionist told me the manager had to discuss the issue with higher management. They still didn’t call me back. Other vets cross things off your quote when they are discussed and this is not the case here. They go ahead and do things to your pet even after you directly said you did not want something!
