The people who work here treat your pet & you like you matter. They are kind, patient, attentive & thorough.
This place had a bad reputation years ago for very good reason. They’ve done a 360!! They’ve been my vet for thirty years and I patiently stayed with them and finally, now I’m so glad I did. Friendly office staff, techs, groomers, and vets. They know me, they know my babies! My animals are well cared for and I am respected.
Dr Jeff is the best
Only place I would take my English bulldog they always take care of her by far best veterinarian in the city ..
I use their grooming services. Dawn is very experienced and does a great job. She is a bit more expensive than other places I've used, but she really cars about the dogs and treats then well.
I took my kitty magenta to get some shots and a microchip. They were very quick with the procedure and called me immediately after to let me know how she was doing. They also went over a diet plan with me for her in detail and even gave me stuff to take home to help feed her the correct amount. I had a great experience and I definitely recommend to anyone with a pet looking for a vet!
These people care about your pets
I have 2 dogs that go here and I love love love them.
I love this vet I take my fog there
BSAH has changed Vets and with those changes I have found very clear advice, better service and kindness to my pet.
Very caring for your pets
They are friendly. They send you reminders for your pet and take care of them well.
Great vet good staff
The visit & check was prompt. The Vet was courteous & patient in speaking to us. Love the first visit, looking forward to the next.
I had a good first time experience at the small animal hospital but just to give my own little opinion the price was a little bit too high but I appreciate the love and support.
Whatever I need done it’s handle very Polite people I just love them and my pup thank you
I was able to get an emergency appointment for my cat when my regular vet was booked up. He had an infection from a bite and we.left quite healthy. Thanks a bunch!
Good service
Very professional
The staff here are some of the most amazing people in animal care. The vets are friendly and knowledgeable and the receptionists always leave you with a smile
It was the worst place I've ever been to, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, the people there are the most unprofessional money grabbing people I have ever met. They took my friends cat inside, and said no one is allowed in there they came out in probably less then 5 minutes told the person I was with take her home and get a urine sample and walked in so I asked her what they charge and she said they'll probably bill me. Just then they ran out and said you have to pay! She's been there many times before, and they must of needed lunch money? They actually said lucky we cought you trying to sneak away, I wouldn't have paid them at all the bill for the cat was $200. About $50. a minute and they didn't do a thing... I wouldn't even gave them one star they are the worst people I ever met
My cat had bladder surgery here and she was treated really well. They are easy to work with and they're not somebody who will jack up prices. I'd highly recommend them!
affordable procedures and they are very kind. it was a nice experience and im glad i picked this clinic.,
Great place to take ur kitty... Nice ppl and have a payment plan if u would like to get on one
I absolutely love this facility. They are so friendly so very kind & helpful. I feel very comfortable with the care and time they take in grooming my dog, giving vaccinations etc. I give 10 thumbs up if I could. This is a wonderful place!
Receptionist very friendly. Went to see about boarding my cat Pepper. She called me back to let me know nothing was available.
Super helpful and I love their paw plan! Always friendly and informative
Perfect for my pet.
Clean and compassionate to our pets... a little on the expensive side, but well worth it
Very professional and friendly. They provide good care and don't push unnecessary procedures. They give you all the options and work with you on what is right for your family.
Best vet in the city! They can do everything your animal might need and provide really good insurance. They also have a lot of resources.
My first visit was months ago when i had to make the hard decision to send my mastiff over the rainbow. They were super great about and sent his ashes home with a Beautiful paw print. I just brought my new English Bulldog there & they were just as good! She received her 12wk shots and a micro chip. They gave me free samples for heartworm & fleas & tics! They will now be my go to veterinarian for all my pet needs! I absolutely recommend them!
The staff is always friendly, very attentive, extremely knowledgeable & patient. They take the time to listen to your concerns and will gladly answer all your questions. What I love most is how loving & caring the staff is to my 3 rescue cats & my rescued pitbull. They also have "paw plans" for those with financial concerns. They are taking the necessary precautions.. in light of Covid.. to keep both owners and pets safe. We Highly recommend The Buffalo Small Animal Hospital! P.S. And did I mention how great they are with our fur-babies. ????❤️????
I love Buffalo Small animal hospital and will never take my pets anywhere else. Dr Koemel is the best in Buffalo without a doubt.
My dog Barkley has been going here since I got him 2 years ago. The staff are always so polite and accommodating. I’ve only had great experiences and Barkley loves going there!
Buffalo small Animal Hospital rocks!!!!!!!! I’ve been coming to this vet for 10yrs always a pleasure. COVID-19 has changed the way they service our pets however they treated my dog great!!!
Idk feel fishe about the place.
They helped us make the best possible informed decision regarding our cat. Ultimately the best choice was euthanasia. They were very understanding, they gave us affordable options for giving us time to gain comfort and closure with the decision. We were allowed to stay with him during and after the procedure, on the appointed day. I was even late due to being fuzz brained and dealing with work related issues, but they took us anyway. It was heart wrenching as expected, but solemn, and professional. It was the very best a bad situation could be.
Dr Josh and his team where wonderful and very considerate during my time there with Murphy by Boxer. We had to put Murphy to sleep and all the staff there where very considerate and helpful. Murphy is a better place now chasing Squirrels. My next dog and I will be always going to BSAH!!
I have been coming here for years primarily for grooming but occasionally for an emergency visit when my primary vet is too busy or out of town and it is a matter that requires urgency. Judy at the front desk is always extremely accommodating and will slip me into the schedule! The Grooming is TOP NOTCH! Dawn is always excited to see my dog and my dog loves to see everyone there. I dont know what they do to him while he is there but he is always extremely excited when we get there! Dawn is very knowledgeable and always capable of answering my questions about my dogs coat. I have never had a dog that sheds so proper coat maintenance is something rather new to me. I asked about shaving him in the summer to help him stay cool, she then informed me about how shedding works and how his coat actually helps him cool off! She also likes to dress him up for holidays by adding a bow or a festive cover to his collar. Whenever I have dealt with veterinary staff they have always been friendly and informative. They care about the animals and have taken time to make sure that my dog is comfortable enough to perform what ever exam is necessary. My dog likes to hurt himself a lot. somehow he is always cutting himself on a stick or running into something! so when I have gone there scared to death that he won't be ok they have reassured me that everything is ok! and dogs will be dogs.
Brittany Nuzum is amazing! Shes gentle and loving and an amazing person. She truly cares about the animals and the people.
Made everything relaxing and easy even though we can’t go inside with our pets during COVID. Offered lots of different care options without judgement.
Very nice and helpful! Just visited for my first appointment w/my newly adopted cats and they were very welcoming!
Nice clean facility. Super nice employees. Dr. Sara was outstanding. She took the time to answer all my questions and even called me at home personally to follow up on my pet. Prices are super reasonable too. No complaints here.
Great staff and very helpful.
Amazing staff . So good with all my fur family .
I love this place my puppers loves it( I think he loves it because he gets treats lol) everyone from the front desk to the vet are very professional and very friendly to us humans and extra friendly to our furbabies.. I’d highly recommend this place to other furbaby parents!!!
I've been going for years. They have a friendly and talented staff. My only complaint is just generic to vets in general, they charge more for medicine that you can get cheaper over the counter.
I would recommend buffalo small animal clinic to anyone. Thank you.
My puppy is very anxious and very jumpy( she was a puppy mill pup for 6.5 years). The Vet handled her like I do, patiently and lovingly. Lucey loves going to see the Vet.
Wonderful staff!!! Wonderful service!!! My Bella loves her visits!!
Provides good care for my pet.
I've been going here for a few years with my cats. With covid it has been difficult to get an appointment, but they seem to be easier to secure appointments that other places, and when there is a serious problem they will do everything they can to get your pet in and help
It's very clean and you don't have a long wait time. Also they take excellent care of the animals !!
Friendly staff
Took excellent care if my fur baby
Kind, caring, and thorough staff...highly recommended.
Brittany (with glasses) was AMAZING!
I hear good things about this clinic. I have an 8 week old kitten that needs some care. I gotta go hear!
I have been going to this vet since I moved to Buffalo in the early 1980's. It was the only vet in Buffalo that hired women vets. My service has always been top notch. The care for each animal has always been caring and they listen to what you have to say. When my very old dog could no longer walk they helped me through the transition to put him to sleep. Right now they have brought my 17 year old outside cat back from the brink. He needed thyroid tables twice a day. He has his bounce back and he has gained weight and he is enjoying life again. Thank you Buffalo SAH. Linda Marie Franchell & Jesse Grossman
I always take my cats here. They are friendly and helpful. They take good care of your animals when you have to Board them.
If I could give your Veterinary practice ZERO stars I would! My family has been bringing animals to your practice for years, and the quality of care has continued to decline! From my mother being told she was bad pet parent for having a sick animal euthanized (because she couldn't dish out thousands of dollars on a surgery that had less than a 50/50 chance) to the care you have provided to my 5 animals personally. When my 14 year old rabbit, yes he lived to 14, had to be euthanized you left me sitting in the waiting area ALONE crying my eyes out while my animal was taken from my hands, euthanized, and I was handed back a dead body in a box! I have NEVER heard of a practice not allowing you to be with your animal for this procedure, but you had no problem with it. Then I bring in a Great Dane puppy, and one of your vets tried convincing me Hill's Science Diet puppy food was the BEST food for him and lectured me on how uneducated I was for feeding a raw diet, mind you this was AFTER telling me how healthy he was and how wonderfully he was growing/developing! This same vet tried to convince me to neuter my Dane puppy at just 4 months old! Anyone who knows anything about extra large breeds knows that is a huge no no; their body needs to develop properly BEFORE being neutered, and 18 months or older is the recommended age but I'm not vet so my opinion and research didn't matter. Then offering to cut my newly rescued bully breed mix's nails and he was quicked so bad the powder didn't even work to stop the bleeding! The whole foot had to be wrapped up; I've never quicked him, but again I'm no vet so no one cared what I had done or how I did it... but you were so nice (*note sarcasm) to tell me you wouldn't charge me for that service, I mean you only clipped 2 nails and one had my dog bleeding EVERYWHERE, but you're the professionals. And lastly and most importantly the straw that broke the camel's back! My Dane ended up sick and not eating, he was brought to your practice for an "emergency visit" as we knew something wasn't right, well it took about 5 minutes to even be acknowledged... sounds like an emergency, right? After tests and xrays etc he was diagnosed with gastroenteritis, no big deal. Then he was prescribed 3 medications to "make him better," and given the MAXIMUM dosage of metronidazole for his weight/size; 3000mg per day, 3 pills (500mg each) every 12 hours 6x500 = 3000mg every 24 hours! We were given no drug information, but apparently this drug can cause all sorts of issues with the nervous system! Well, when my big 167lb boy was collapsing in my backyard and I called your practice to see if this was a side effect of the medication I was told, "Someone will call you back." YES! Because a 19 month old puppy collapsing randomly isn't important; why did I need called back you may ask? Oh, because your practice decided there should be an ALL staff meeting DURING regular business hours which you should be open and available! Instead, I received an answering service who could NOT help me! Luckily, my neighbor referred another vet (who I will be writing a rave review for) and helped me get my dog in my car for transport. Not only was someone willing and able to take my call they wanted to see him IMMEDIATELY! I shared with this office the drugs he was prescribed and was informed right away he has metronidazole toxicity, and started showing pre-seizure symptoms. Had they not taken me right away he could have had a full blown seizure, and I would not have known what to do as I was NOT aware this drug could do this to my dog! Did you know 1/3 the amount your office prescribed would have actually cured his GI issue?! But, I'm no vet so what do I know? This drug caused an issue with dog's nervous system and could have been much worse had I not made it to a vet when I did. And to make matters worse, when your office FINALLY returned my call (after he was already hooked up to IV's and being treated) your vet chose to talk over me and be argumentative! So much more to say, but it exceeds the character limit
They are amazing and treat my baby like he's my child, with so much love.
Buffalo Small Animal Hospital was quick to get my fur baby seen and upto date in her shots I'm extremely happy with them
This place has always been my go to for all my pets…the staff are very friendly and address your needs and concerns. The doctors are awesome…Dr. Andrzejewski is the best!! If your looking for a Vet for your pets I advise you to choose Buffalo Small Animal Hospital you won’t be disappointed.
I love this place, they've taken excellent care of my dog for nearly 7 years now... We only switched because I moved out of Buffalo.
Thank you all for everything! This truly is a place that cares about animals & families. The compassion this place has shown to my fur pup has been amazing. Thank you all for everything! - Stinky & Brian
Great place
Great facility with the best staff. Very reasonable prices. Get the paw plan!
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, they were very gentle with my kitten, the place is clean, and I will be coming back.
Good care
This practice is extremely efficient and very thorough with the care the provide to my animal.
I took my sick cat their was toald he was ok. 3 weeks later I had to get my beloved cat of 13 yrs put down. I'm still very heartbroken over this. I would not trust that dr. With anything.
Seem to busy to take anybody new alot of people have no transportation around here and taking the bus is to risky with cov 19 at this time
They were very accommodating and not too expensive. We got our cat's shots, flea treatment/grooming and boarding.
I love the way the attended my Skye.
I went there yrs ago. This time most recently my friend took his dog here for updated shots etc....seemed good as well didn't go in tho. But the vet came out to chat info to us and that's great, not only the assistant. So overall no complaints.
Phone inquiry was informative and pleasant.
They were the only ones accepting new patients. They are so loving and caring and patient.
I just took my dog here. Eww. First, it smells super weird and looks extremely drab. The technicians were pouring lysol everywhere, probably to cover up the weird smell, but it was pretty hard to breathe. The vet examined my dog for less than 1 minute, asked me less than 5 questions, and then "treated" my dogs sebaceous cyst by shaving it with a shaver and supposedly aspirating it with a needle. Then he gave me $50 in meds that I don't need (the topical antibiotic ointment I might be sold on, but the inflammatory pills I'm pretty sure were garbage. So my less than 15 minute visit came to $124. Well, you'll got my money people, but I will not ever come back.
We adopted a beautiful new 4 legged baby into our family. And we decided on the The Buffalo Animal Hospital when it came time for her 1st vet check. The doctor was very patient with her, as she sure is rambunctious. And helped me with a lot of the new-mom questions, and answers. We have insurance and all the information on our puppy which helps a lot of with future vet bills
Amazingly awesome
Love this place! The lady vets are SOOOOOOO caring! All my babies are VERY well taken care of, I never have to worry about them. BEST vet EVER!!
I've taken my animal here for years and I'm never disappointed with staff..they truly care for your animal and always ask you if you have any questions or concerns for your pet
The service here was unreal. The Cat Lady was so helpful and so knowledgable and everyone was so nice. They were very understanding and really listened to what I had to say. This was little Milos first trip there and I feel like he is now part of the family there. I took him for just a Health and Wellness Check up and I think it was so incredibly helpful. This will definitely always be my vet for the life of my kitty kitty
Rude on the phone. These vets just want your money go to McClelland instead.
Rebecca is the nicest person in the front end at this office she is companionate and caring.....Not sure who Ashely is but she was rude called for a emergency situation that was going on with my companion dog and she just kept telling me “take her to a hospital because we are booking until December”. I asked Ashely if I can speak to a vet she said they are not in I said can I speak with Rebecca she said she’s not in so I called back explain to Rebecca what was going on she was able to get my sweet little girl in right away. Thank you Rebecca for being so caring and compassionate and all the doctors at Buffalo small Animal Hospital on Elmwood.. Oh and I can’t forget about Ashley the groomer she is also amazing❤️????
Very friendly staff. They are amazing!
They really care for my "children ",well my friends
As of January 2022 the overall staff from reception to veterinarian are kind, attentive, compassionate, and above all really listen to you. I feel heard when I express concerns about my fur daughters. Paw ???? plan is literally a life saver for your kitten or elder babies. imo 5*/5*
We decided to board our dog, Johnnie, there for the weekend. We were greeting by a recenptionist with a complete lack of customer service skills, very unfriendly. When we were done checking him in we were apparently ready to go, but she didn't tell us that for another 10 minutes (we were waiting in sight). The individual we saw walking dogs was smoking, I'd prefer my Johnnie to not have smoke in his lungs. They also underfed our pup! How dare they?! He was returned with half of the food packed for him still in the container! I had only given 2 meals extra in the container! He also attained a UTI and a scratch of the top of his head while we were there. They also charged and did a check up (without notifying us first) However, the one good thing they did, they found an ear infection and began treatment. Long story short please don't bring your dog there!
It's appropriate that the reviews are so mixed. This is a good place to take your pet if you need routine shots, exams, etc. The beside manner with healthy pets is OK and the costs are low. However, they do seem to have a bad way with animals in trouble, whether that be those suffering from disease, injury, or behavioral changes. If your pet has no issues, I'd suggest taking him/her here for annual vaccinations. If a problem arises, I'd suggest taking them to another vet for diagnosis, and then calling this place for a quote on any recommended surgery. They seem to do very well with procedures at a greatly reduced cost as long as they know exactly what needs to be done. The diagnosing vet can fax them the info they need.
I have used Buffalo Small Animal Hospital for two years, since I moved to Buffalo, and I have always experienced extreme care and professionalism from the team, including Dr. Koelmel. She has gone above-and-beyond for my pets especially when my cat had terminal cancer. She texted me every day to check on the status of Frank, and when he passed away, she genuinely was there to care for him and me. I've taken my two dogs and three cats there for annual appointments and several emergencies, and each time it was exceptional.
They were the only vet I could get my pup in quick. They were quick and kind. They explained everything in a way I could understand. The price was reasonable. They even complimented my guy on his handsome looks and good behavior. Also complimented me on how well he's being kept. That meant a lot to me considering I'm fairly new to being a pet owner.
Got Yelled at by a receptionist for being 13 min late..i did call and let them know i was running behind at work..a 10 dollar late fee .she ????yelled???? at me you are 20 minutes late you missed your entire appointment and told me they would NOT take me ..2 appointments after me were already there and being seen.. when they did end up seeing me after someone asked the vet .i waited 3 weeks for that appointment and had to leave work early to get there.. Unfortunately had to send someone 911 to hospital ..waiting for the transfer put me 13 minutes late completely disgracefulness the way i was spoke to even after i explain why i was late she continues to say no they will not see me ..i have been a customer 4 years and now i am looking into changing vets.
Been going here with my pet for over 20 years....would recommebd.
These guys used to be good, but things have changed. Maybe some training on customer service and empathy would be a start. Thank you for the response, but I don't think there is any way to ensure our next visit is a good one, since I was told we need to take our business elsewhere and was given a stack of records to give to our new vet - whoever that will be. Nice.
I took my two cats Ryan and Vita here for almost 20 years (1999 - 2016). I was always very impressed and happy with the care and attention we received. When my cat Ryan got sick and passed last year, the staff was incredibly kind and supportive and it meant the world to me. I highly recommend them. If I hadn't moved to another city, I would still be a customer. Keep up the great work!
Very friendly staff and so gentle with my dog Noah.
My dogs have been patients here for almost 15 years. Buffalo Small Animal Hospital is the best in Buffalo.
Nice

They have always done a great job taking care of my dog.
Ok
These guys are great and take the time needed with your pet.
I described my experience once already. it's mysteriously disappeared.
They care about your pet here
I am always pleased with Buffalo Small Animal Hospital's care for the animals and the pet owners. The veterinarian took such time with me to explain what was going on, to walk through options for care, to take my cat's "sassiness" in great humor and stride, and to offer personal, friendly care in our conversation. I haven't taken my pets anywhere else in 15 years, and have no plans to make a change. I am delighted with this Vet service. (msg from August 2020)
Clipped my pup ear
We're able to answer all the questions I had. Plus introduce me to an animal insurance like program. Very interested
Came in recently for an annual exam for my cat. Service was quick and easy, was able to maintain safe social distancing and still maintain the personal touch with being able to speak to the vet directly on the phone while my little fur baby was in the exam room. I think they have adapted perfectly to keeping everyone safe from COVID-19 and still being able to maintain a high level of service.
We are totally fed up with this vets business practices. We've been with this vet for about 10 years. And so out of respect, let me start with the few positives we could say. The staff in general is friendly. They are time efficient with appointments. They may not have the right answers to your questions, but they do at least listen. And that's about all. Now the real issues. First, the vets rotate through there frequently. Every year we see someone new for our dog. Someone unfamiliar with her and they always seem to have different levels of experience. So some are better than others, but there is no consistency in treatment. The place is very unclean and the air is unfiltered, which at first I thought was normal. When we go there we leave with lots of fur from other animals on our clothes. The dander in the air causes me to sneeze and cough from the moment I walk it, until hours after I leave. Meanwhile our other dog has been going to another vet office for a year and a half and that place is immaculate. I never sneeze, rub my eyes, cough or leave with animal hair. Which made me realize how unclean this vets office really just is. The biggest issue that we have is pricing. Our two dogs are the same height and weight. So when they need meds, they are given the same amount and dosage. This vets office charges double and sometimes triple the price for the same meds than the other vet charges. For instance, right now they are on Panacur for whip worms. The good vet charged us $51.40. This vet charges $106 for the exact same med and dose!!!! And it's like this every single time! They don't have much in the way of technology, so when your dog needs real treatment you have to be referred out and often end up paying two vets for the same issue! We really do not recommend this vet. It took me 12 years to write this review because I hate to be negative just that much. But I just couldn't take it anymore. After this last event with the worm medicine pricing. Enough is enough.
The services they charged me for were double, almost triple the price I get at other vets. The vet sent me home with medicine without explaining what it was, what its for or how to use it. I ended up paying around $400 for a cat exam and blood work. I would suggest going to a different more affordable vet clinic.
As a first time pet owner, I had some concernes about adopting a senior cat with medical issues. The staff at Buffalo Small Animal Hospital have eased all of my fears. They listened to my concerns and spent the time to educate me so i'd know what to do if she got sick. The curbside service was fantastic - at one point during our appointment, my phone lost service while speaking with the vet. She then came out to the car - maintaining a safe distance and wearing a mask- to continue our convo about my cat's health. The whole staff was so kind. I not only feel much more confident as a pet owner, but also confident that if my kitty does get sick, she will be in the right hands!!!
They are super nice here.
Everyone there is super friendly, explain all options and what's best for our pets.
The vets and techs here are very professional and friendly. They take their time to explain any procedures and answer any questions. Ashley always cuts my long-haired dachshund's hair just like we like it.
Very personal and professional staff!
This is an excellent vet! Each employee is wonderful, very thorough the vets are, clean, grooming is wonderful, they have the paw plan that I highly recommend, great location downtown and I recommend this 100%!
I got the impression it is not too clean. It smells bad whenever the door is opened. It is very small, no separate areas for cats and dogs. Icould not understand the man that took my pet, neither could my teen-aged grand- daughter. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. I did like the lady that came out to explain things to me although what she told me they did contraindicated what the man told me.
There good with my fur babies
They are kind, on top of things, just a bit on the pricer side, but vets seems to be rather high cost. I'd definitely recommend taking a cat here, I'd assume the same goes for dogs!
My kitties have been coming here forever
Great vet. Very polite staff and great vets and vet technicians.
I am extremely disappointed my Rottweiler was a patient for 8yrs. I referred four people to this vet and spent a lot of money over the past 8 yrs including special services like grooming, boarding bubbles even donated blood while boarding there and now that Bubbles is not doing well having problems walking small animal clinic was not helpful for preventive care and now acting like they just don’t care! now she’s at the end of the road! Wish I never took my bubbles there!
Love the staff.
It was a good experience the staff were professional and friendly. They also have a great COVID protocol system in place
Bella and I barely had to wait in the car - perhaps 5 - 10 minutes. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The veterinarian was kind and thorough in reporting his assessment of Bella's condition.
I don’t recommend this vet. We had issues with one of our dogs having anxiety. They put him on medication and after 2 weeks it wasn’t working so they added another medication. I requested this doctor call me back but I ALWAYS got a poor excuse why she couldn’t. After almost 3 weeks the doctor called back leaving a message that my dog shouldn’t be on 3 medications. No one EVER told us this prior. This office is completely unprofessional and rude. Received numerous nasty comments by the office manager and secretaries. Their staff changes over very often and now I know why. Do not take any pets to this vet!
I love this place they have taken care of all my dogs over the years friendly staff very caring
The staff is super friendly and put all my worries at ease!!!
I honestly was so excited that a vet, groomer, and animal hospital was right down the road from me but after reading these awful reviews I am horrified by what this establishments practices have been. I’m so glad I read these before taking my new puppy there! I would have been mortified if somthing like what happened to these poor pet owners happened to the puppy I love so much and if you are thinking of going I STRONGLY suggest you read all the reviews beforehand. There might be a couple more good posts then bad but the story’s of the bad def our weighs the good in my opinion.
Very nice
Changes in procedures were made due to covid 19, but the new process went smoothly. They were prompt in assessing the situation of my cat and it didn't take long to here from the doctor. Payment was easy and someone was right out with my cat, her meds and my receipt.
My mother has been bringing her animals to this location since before I was even a though, and I have always brought them since I’ve been on my own with my own animals. They are always attentive, the vets take the time to answer any questions and have Greta personalities! Dr.Dave so absolutely amazing and doesn’t try to “upsell” you on any unnecessary to. I would recommend anyone to this vet!!! Just brought them and with Covid being a risk they did a fantastic job to help address the concerns that many have during this hard time.
Knowledgeable staff, so kind.
Buddy love ya guys and so do the chamber’s family
Love it ????
Its been two years since our 16 year old beloved cat, Apollo, was put to sleep at the BSAH. It was a horrible experience. A needle was inserted into his little leg (he weighed only 6 lbs) and he struggled so much that 2 assistants had to hold him down. After several minutes, he was comatose but still breathing. The techs had to do the procedure a second time because, in their terms, he was still "fighting" to stay alive. At this point my husband and I left the room and returned after the second attempt was successful. A horrible way to remember our pet's final moments.
I brought my puppy pit there the first time was great, everything was fine...2nd time there..they took him in without me for shots. 3rd time I went in concerned about his stomach and it not looking right and he also (this the first time seeing him do this) was shaking Iike a leaf. They felt him and just told me he was fine. My dog HAS CANCER. found in a simple xray. Noticeably something was wrong. Do not EVER take your pet there if your concerned and want ur pet to LIVE. HORRIBLE.
Always friendly, caring, efficient, Affordable. I've taking my dogs there for 7 years. I'd recommend it.
Great service and they follow all the safety policies to keep everyone safe.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. EVERY SINGLE TIME my dog has need to be seen due to being sick or any concern I may have, they have NOTHING available for months. They provide all of these phone numbers to other clinics that are "24 hours" but when called, they are not. I do not recommend taking your pet here. By time you get an appointment your pet will probably be dead. A friend of mine has had the same experience.
Always friendly and have more than fair prices on everything. Also they groom.
They are honest and up front about expenses and helpful when it comes to finding solutions and willing to demonstrate what to do before administering a medicine at home.
Got me in quick and took care of my cat Morris a little pricy but good
I have only used them for boarding, but was very impressed with the staff and the cleanliness. I will probably start taking my dog there for all of her care.
They are extremely knowledgeable and caring about your pets.i have both of my pitbull puppies on their puppy plan.its vey affordable and reassuring.
Horrible customer service, rude reception and ignorant doctors.
The staff is absolutely wonderful! Very kind, Caring and Nurturing.
great ????????
Great visit. Really liked the fact you can go in with your baby.
A professional, kind, and attentive staff from the receptionists to the doctors. Clean and inviting facility. The care they provided to my ten year old cat, Crystal, was excellent and has yielded positive results.
Our go to vet and boarding facility since 2003.
Beware, the dollar is more important to them than your animals health or comfort and the satisfaction of the customer. I, like many other reviewers, felt that the Vet and Techs are coercive. My Cat was dying, the Vet said he had a heart condition and after paying over 200 dollars in lab work that said he was in perfect health (he died a week and a half later) the vet suggested that we get his teeth pulled, a procedure that would cost between 1,200-1,800 dollars. Here's the first salesman tactic that I noticed: (If we did it now we would spend less money) when we were hesitant the vet said that if we didn't do this within a couple days our cat would have to get the lab work done again. After we decided against the procedure we were told they were legally required to give a rabies shot. We refused saying he's an indoor only cat. They said again that they had too. I've read the law, they are not! I, as the owner, need to request it. At the time of service they failed to charge me for the rabies shot. They called me few days later and asked me to pay over the phone, I was busy so I had them bill me. A week later my cat died and I forgot the bill. A month later I received an invoice with an 8 dollar increase. I went directly to the Vet office and aired this whole list of complaints to give them a chance, they were unmoved and unwilling to appease me, they threatened to send my bill to collections. So, for 32 dollars the Buffalo Small Animal Hospital has bought one less patient.
Great staff
Takes great care of my puppy Capone
Wonderful team! love coming here
Friendly. Dr. Mroziak is the best!
The whole experience was awesome.
We signed up for the puppy plan and paid around $800+ to have our austrailian shepard fixed and vaccinated. Buffalo Small Animal Hospital would not honor the last round of shots covered by the plan, that was paid in full, because our appointment was February 17th instead of the 10th. I though it was petty to jam us for $130 for a shot that would have been covered the previous week. I guess we'll be looking for a new vet.
Opens up at 7:30 am ,parking in front, friendly staff ( so early in the morning) and the dog is happy about the experience
We adopted a puppy from the Buffalo Animal Shelter and she was spayed at the Buffalo Small Animal Hospital. We chose to have them be our regular vet for our dog. We saw both Dr. Wagner and Dr. Sardina. They were both extremely nice and knowledgeable. The vet techs were also great and showed us how to do some simple things such as trimming her nails. My husband and I were first time dog owners and first time puppy trainers and we appreciated all of their help and tips along the way. We would absolutely recommend Buffalo Small Animal Hospital to anyone looking for a great vet.
Iv been going here for sometime now and there the only ones i trust with my 2 dogs and 6 cats health and there groomer is amazing wit my cat. I dont have any complais at all
The Entire staff is great, from the front desk to the doctors. They listen to my concerns and really care about my dog, whether she is in for a routine exam or sick visit. We typically see Dr. Koemel and trust her to help keep our dog healthy! She is amazing!!
Handle my dogs with respect and care, I've had bad experiences with other vets that I thought stressed the dogs out too much. They are always very kind and considerate.
This veterinary service is great I've been coming here for a long time since I was a little girl they have puppy insurance that shouldn't cost alot .
They are amazing. From helping me with the kitten I found at Coca-Cola Field to the loving care they've given my 15 year old cat they are consistently outstanding. Lovely staff and reasonable pricing. I can't thank them enough.
They are very good. Wouldn't take my fur babies anywhere else.
These people are the best. Caring and safe during covid-19
Always friendly and very helpful.
They saved my dogs life
Always a good atmosphere with courtesy and respect
Took our dog in for a visit.
We love it herr
Take my rescued and previously abused APBT here for shots and she's on the overprotective/fear aggressive side(not her fault)...great staff and when you have an appointment scheduled you're actually seen at the appointment time! No waiting around for 30mins which is GREAT because she's quite the handful. She's been coming there since she was a puppy, she was given to me at 8mos and is now 8yrs and loved. UPDATE: 3-4-21 just scheduled an appt for a very sick cat I've taken in from my TNR colony. The receptionist was very patient and answered any questions I had about Paw Plans coverage for him since I'm keeping him, now. She also provided phone numbers and addresses for emergency clinics just in case. Also, not sure why owner responded calling me "Shane" in their response lol UPDATE:3-15-21 Had to make the decision today to end Hemi's suffering. The staff was able to schedule a next morning appt but allowed me to bring him in last minute and let me take my time. They were incredibly understanding and compassionate. RIP HEMI????❤????????
To me money is more important than the care of the animals. If you are short on cash and don't have it all they won't work with you. Even if you have been going for years. Took my dog last Wednesday and paid over $300 and brought my Buddy home and he passed 3 hours later. You never mentioned that Buddy was I'll all the time I have been bringing him there. He was brought in for his yearly check up and also 4 times a year for grooming appointments. He was given a wellness check every time at these appointments as he had to be sediated for grooming. Not once did any one tell me or refer Buddy had a problem except his teeth were getting yellow. In all the paper work did it ever mention anything. He had blood work before and it was fine. Even on the last day when I brought him in you did blood work and you told me that everything was functioning fine. What bothers me that in your comment you said he fought for a long time. You never made me aware of any problems till after his passing after all the times he has been there and all the check ups he had.
The Doctor who accomadated our visit was new to us..He concentrated more on Cooper Ming' s heart murmur than the reason we came n for.. Not familiar with his bedside manner, so I was taken aback & devastated that he put a quessing period on my baby's life..He ran blood work on him, & I hv not heard from him yet..My husband & both cried all day & night.. Cooper is our heart , our World.. We had a conference w/Dr.Patricia Tempkee today, she is sendg over the results from our office visit w/ her n June. She has been managing Cooper's heart Condition for 4 yrs..We trust her immensely. Any decisions or therapies re: Cooper Heart she has to be involved in the decision making..I hv been coming to BSAH since I was 4yrs old..Trust me that is a loose of years..Rebecca & Ashley r like Coopet's family..Unfortunately My experience was sad!
That's our vet very respectful and friendly
I love the Buffalo Small Animal Hospital! They've been caring for my silly, elderly Bichon, Gigi, since I moved into the city a few years ago. From knowledgeable, caring veterinarians and vet techs, to wonderful front office staff, to awesome groomers, to the boarding handlers, they do it all, and very well! Sarah grooms Gigi, and has actually colored her ears and tail a few times (pet-safe, temporary). She's terrific! Thank you all, and Gigi says, "Woooooooo!!!"
The response by Kim the office manager is completely false- no one was kind or responsive as you can see in other reviews. Ashley and Kim should both be fired for their poor handling of customers and rudeness. They brought out the records of our dogs when my husband came to pick up medication today and said we were no longer patients and refused to work with us to ensure that we could get the medications our senior dogs need while we transition to another vet. The actual veterinarians that we have seen have been fine but the current administrative staff is terrible!!! Read other reviews to see this. I wonder what rude response from the management I will receive now for telling the truth. If there is a manager higher than Kim I would love to speak with them because Kim refused to give me her bosses name and hung up on me. I to schedule an appointment for my sick pet on Monday fully expecting to wait at least 2 weeks as it was not an emergency. The next date available was over a month away. When I questioned why the next available date was over a month away I was told in a very rude unprofessional way that "if it was an emergency I should take my dog to the emergency vet" When I asked to speak with the manager she was even ruder and claimed I was being rude when I questioned her. I asked her who her manager was and she refused to tell me. She claimed she didn't have her information. I said that's ok but you must know their name. And she refused to tell me. Who does that? Buffalo small animal hospital has completely gone down hill within the last year. They have eliminated boarding, it's a revolving door with the vets on staff and now they no longer have Saturday hours. The staff is rude, unresponsive and unprofessional. My husband went to pick up our senior dogs medication and they came out with his meds and our two dogs files and said your wife was rude on the phone and that we were no longer patients. They will not fill our dogs prescriptions at all. My dogs are on several prescriptions to stay healthy and they were unwilling to work with us to help transition to a new vet. My dogs are 13 and 14 years old and I have never had a problem - ever -with any vet . Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
Pull up curb side service worked flawlessly. Buffalo Small Animal hospital employee Very friendly and considerate. A+ experience. Highly recommended.
Been going here for years with several of our pets. Great service.
I love the techs and the vets at this place. they take excellent care of my 4 year old dog and when I had to put my puppy down, they were so caring, compassionate and understanding. Dr. Mike was so awesome during that whole awful experience. I'm so glad he was there with me. Absolutely the best place for my animals!
We moved away due to work and our dog needed his medication continued. COVID-19 hit and we couldn’t get in to see a new vet. These folks were amazing and continued prescribing no questions asked. Unfortunately, we had to let our best friend go and although we were across the country they sent us a card letting us know they were thinking of us. Amazing group and always willing to take care of our family. Can’t recommend them enough. Your family is in great hands here!
Okay business
Efficient and effective
Caring vets❤..took care of our golden until he moved on. Vets gave laser for Kips sore hips. Kip loved going to vets! Our shitz is receiving the same solid, good, caring medical care from these wonderful vets.
Thank you for the great advice it helped my puppies a lot they ate back to betting healthy
Medical care was fine. Had a horrible customer service experience. Unfortunately, our dog passed away, and Instead of apologizing for the poor attitudes of office staff or sending a sympathy card like normal clinics do, management argued with me publicly on Facebook instead. Would not recommend.
They are always nice to us and our dogs we recently had to put our oldest pit bull down and they were so nice to us they gave us as much time as we needed with him before and after they sent us a card as well as called us I truly appreciate these people and everything they did to help us through such a horrible time in our lives
During my pets follow-up visit on August 17, 2020, related to his dental cleaning on August 7, 2020, care of my pet and service given was pleasant, inviting and respectable. The wait was not long pertinent information taken as well as given. Instructions given to continue medications as prescribed, call if any further problems... appointment made for annual visit. All in all a good visit with communication which was much appreciated.
My visit to Buffalo small animal hosp. Was positive. The workers show their love and patience for the animals Dr. mroziak explained everything in detail.
I’ve always had good results with this place and trust them with my pets care.
My puppy and I had a great experience at the Buffalo Small Animal Hospital. Everyone greeted us and showed a interest in my dogs health and care! I was very impressed and this will be Butters health facility permanently.
Dr Dave genuinely cares and is so respectful to his patients! Buffalo Small Animal Hospital is always friendly, accommodating, and compassionate.
Our visit with our cat was handled well, both from safety aspect and medically. Very good communication with our veterinarian , gave thorough review of all medical issues as well as preventative care for the future. appointment went quicker than expected. Very pleased with our experience!
Phenomenal attentive care encompassed in a team atmosphere.
Couldn’t ask for better care during a pandemic.
Staff was short and rude
Great Business always Friendly
My first time walking in the front staff greeted me very attentively. Upon getting into the exam room, the staff was really friendly. I had a long wait between seeing the assistant and vet, but it was okay as vet explained that he was with a family who was struggling with the decision that they may need to put their dog to sleep. The vet spent plenty if time talking with me, answering questions, and explaining needs for kittens. My second visit was much faster, and continued to be a great experience. Everyone is friendly and really knowledgeable. Plus you can't beat the convenience of their "paw plan" that lets me plan monthly payments for my pets needs
The food was excellent and they had the service to match it!
Reasonable prices and friendly, informative staff
It makes me sad to write this because I have been taking my dogs to Buffalo Small Animal for 35 years but under the current ownership, I have become uncomfortable trusting them with the care of my pets. This is for two primary reasons. First, they are understaffed and cannot keep veterinarians on staff. The doctors change literally every time I have made an appointment over the past four years. Some of these doctors I have found very caring and competent but when I go back they are gone. This alone tells me that something is very wrong with the practice if they cannot recruit and retain quality doctors. Second, while Rebecca, the long time person at the front desk is very nice, I have found (especially over the last 18 months) that the other front desk and office staff have been very rude to me over the phone and in person and, in the case of one woman, incredibly nasty. I have never missed an appointment, never not paid in full at the time of a visit and have brought a dozen different dogs there over the past 35 years because the doctors and staff were wonderful caring people. The majority of those people are gone (some left for the vet where I now take my dogs) and, unfortunately, I truly feel that the management does not care about their clients. They are managing the practice so poorly that all they care about is getting as much money as they can from a visit.
Place is very unprofessional they're bad at recordkeeping do not take your animal there
It took a while to be seen because there were some emergencies. The vet apologized and have me a nail trim for free! Always pleasant and helpful.
Loved it!!! Definitely a great experience every time!!! You will not be disappointed
Scheduling is easy. I was able to schedule online using their website. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The prices were good.
Justice had a great visit time. I'm wife was a scared to leave her alone for the first time but the staff kept us updated on how she was doing .
I give them 100 stars over and over and over!! They're the best Veterinarian hospital in WNY hands down! I can't stress that enough!! Dr. Koelmel is an exceptional Vet. She went above and beyond and saved my little 16 yr old Boomer's life. I absolutely love her! The staff is so pleasant, professional and very caring. They offer Paw Plan (Health Insurance). Their prices are very affordable. They have plenty of free parking and convenient hours. It's a win win for everyone!! I recommend Buffalo Small Animal Hospital to anyone who wants great care for their fur family pets.
Brought my eight year old lab here for the first time and everyone was friendly and professional. Definitely a bonus that we didn’t spend along time waiting to be put in a room and once in a room we were immediately seen.
Service is amazing an fast
Pretty good clinic
The staff is very friendly and knowledge and the prices are affordable. I have always had good experiences at this location and highly recommend it to my friends and family.
Dr. Koelmel is incredible. She is responsive, thorough, kind and compassionate. The entire staff that I have interacted with over the past year couldn’t have been nicer and more accommodating. This vet clinic has undergone a remarkable transition for the better. I wouldn’t have recommended them five years ago but I do now without reservation.
Very good accurate result and really nice nurses ☺️
They have taken care of my dog for 13yrs.
What an amazing group of people! We are adopting a small Pomeranian from here and have had a great experience. The tech Kelly( also the foster mamma) has been very helpful with any questions we have had. We are thrilled to have found this sweet little puppy and can't wait to make her a permanent part of our home! Thank you to the office manager Chelsea for introducing us to this little gem :)
Very friendly staff.
