I got to say something about this place we had an appointment to get our Black lab put down on June/10/19 so that was fine the lady took us in and said I'm going to take her out back and give her an injection so she doesn't feel the pain of the Catheter so that was fine she said that will relax her before the Catheter gets placed in her but she said and I quote she is a big dog so "we might have to give her another injection" we said yes that's fine so she comes in to check on her and the dog and said I'll be back in a few minutes to take her so they come back to get her and took her out back for the final injection that was the one in the Catheter and didn't my dog howl and howl and cry with pain and all the while they were doing this they were really pissing us off so she came out with my dog and said she's just about gone my mother says was that our dog howling like that and she said yes we had trouble getting the Catheter in so my question is why didn't you give her more meds/injection so she wouldn't be in pain like you said you were going to do I'm so disappointed in this place and very upset I will never get her howling out of my head that's all I can hear ???????????? Very disappointed ????

We love Baccalieu Trail Animal Hospital! We have three dogs, and have had three others before them, so we spend a lot of time there and it’s always welcoming and warm. Dr. Brison is our regular veterinarian, but we’ve also seen Dr. Rufino, we couldn’t ask for better. The staff are always helpful and kind. We’d never dream of taking our fur family anywhere else.

Money grabbers sums it up. Always with an upsell, rude and insulting if you decline. Refusing to even sell you over the counter topical flea treatment without paying for exams etc. This wasn't always their policy and you'd think they would want to see animals healthy. I have 4 pets so if one isn't up to date that one cannot purchase flea meds. Disgusting. Another friend had her dog fixed there, not a cheap procedure and they insulted her for not paying extra to clean his teeth. This place used to be good but since they expanded they seem to expect their customers to pay for their expansion. You don't need to be rich to love and raise a pet well.

The on call vet was very nice my cat was dyeing and they came in and relieved him so he spent his last few minutes with no pain they really helped me and him so I knew he wasn't suffering anymore the female on call vet that day even hugged me when i was leaving and said sorry for your loss she was a sweetheart she was even crying cause i was so upset about losing my cat i had for 11 years i was really upset and she comfort me I'm forever thankful that they came in and relieved my cat from pain. Sometimes the wait times are a bit 'extended' BUT in saying that.... it's because they are caring for someone else's Pet - and you wouldn't want them to be rushed when tending to YOUR fur baby!!! He is not normally one for female vets but he lay at her feet in comfort. We will return for our future vet needs. Well worth the 45 min drive, our dog loves the car ride too! :)

There is nothing worse than worrying about the health of your pet. I feel I am so lucky to have the Baccalieu Trail Animal Hospital in my community. My dog is nearly 13 years old and from the moment we took him there for his first visit as a puppy, I have experienced knowledge and professionalism from the entire staff. You feel that they care for your pet as if it was their own. My dog needed to have surgery which removed 8 kidney stones and the staff was a great comfort and reassurance through the whole process. The same went for more minor things which also demanded immediate attention. They feel like family and I have the utmost confidence in them.

Very good first impression. Nice and clean and cozy inside. The girls at the check in table were very friendly. We showed up an hour early, but they took us in right away because they weren't busy. The vet was also wonderful. Very gentle with my cats and made the whole appointment painless. I was worried they might try to charge me for extra stuff or send out expensive blood work, but she didn't even suggest it, knew my cat needed an antibiotic, gave me my options, and then proceeded with what I wanted. I believe this office will take payment plans which is wonderful if you can't pay your full bill right away. Even though this vet office is my only option I would choose it in a heartbeat. Very satisfied and so are my kitties.

This is gonna be a long one but I think it’s worth the read. First I want to start off by saying thank you to everyone who works at the hospital who saves animals lives daily, I know you guys do amazing work but I am just sharing my bad experience. As a little bit of background, we had a kitten who we got at 8 weeks old, he was perfectly healthy and we never had any issues, until at 6 months when we get him neutered, we soon begin to have issues. We notice blood in his urine, he’s very lazy and depressed, and seeming to urinate everywhere. We gave him penicillin and he soon seemed to be healthy, happy and playing with his toys and other animals brothers again. About 2 or 3 days later, he became very sick, very quickly, he began hiding away and we sometimes couldn’t find him for hours. One night at about 12 pm we found him, very limp, I’m our closet, we knew something was seriously wrong, we called the vet immediately and was greeted by a rest her unpleasant veterinarian. He proceeded to tell us “you should wait for the morning” and “it’ll take me 40 minutes to get there (keep in mind this vet lives 5, FIVE, minutes away from the animal hospital I am unsure why it would take him this long, especially in an emergency) and it will cost you $300” we didn’t care about the money we just wanted our cat to be okay. After a little bit of arguing the vet agreed to come look at our cat (keep in mind he’s only 11 months old) We arrived at the vet pretty quickly and seen an assistant go in, at this moment our cat stopped breathing, terrified we ran to the door and started knocking. After countless banging and knocking on the door we gave up, she wasn’t going to answer, and by now our little 11 month boy was gone. We waited a full hour, maybe even a little longer, for the vet to arrive (the vet who lives 5 minutes away) as they took our cat we already knew the fate we were about to face. I thank them for even coming at all but I just think if they came earlier, or answered the door knowing we were there, we could have saved our little boy. I also don’t want to blame the animal hospital for the sickness of my cat, but it makes me wonder why he was perfectly healthy until they neutered him. We will never know now, all we know is we miss our little boy so much and wish we could have done more to save him. If you took all the time to read this, thank you, I don’t hate anyone or fully blame anyone for this situation. I just wanted to let people know what they may expect when it comes to an emergency. Thank you.

My animals have been patients at the Baccalieu Trail Animal Hospital for as long as I can remember. I have never went there and had a bad experience. The reception desk is always ready to help and get appointments underway with friendliness and courtesy. The amount of respect and kindness the veterinarians show is very heartwarming and I always feel comfortable and welcome with my animals. Even during the time of euthanization of my animal I would not want to be anywhere else but in the kind, caring, and capable hands of these doctors. I will continue to keep my animals under the care of this hospital as it is certainly all they will ever need.

Without a doubt in my mind that the Doctors and staff are the best around ! Professional, friendly , courteous and reasonably priced . They truly care about you and your pet . They do what needs to be done , don’t try to price gouge and explain what they are doing . They recognize your stress level cause of your sick pet and treat you accordingly. I brought our pet in and it was next to death . Now it’s home and at less then half the cost of another place that said it was next to impossible to save . . We live in the east end of St. John’s and choose to go to Baccalieu. We have been to several vets in St. John’s and were not satisfied with the level of service. The staff at Baccalieu care about your pets more than your money. When you walk through the door you are not treated as you were just another number and they are quite friendly. They are very competitive with their pricing and don’t try to push treatments that are costly. We found that all options were explained and the decision was completely up to us without being pushed to spend money on the most expensive option. When we go there now we never say “I wonder how much is this visit going to cost”. Very comforting knowing our pets are getting the best of care.

The staff here is friendly, kind and patient. The atmosphere is lovely inside the clinic there is much space to move about the place. Very knowledgeable staff, lovely friendly veterinarians. This is tile floor for cleanliness so be prepared for echoey, noisy environment if it gets busy. No complaint; just an observation it can be difficult to hear if there is animal noise going on in the waiting area when it's busier. There is plenty of space away from the front desk and most pet owners are very respectful of eachother. What a lovely animal hospital.
