The Royal York Animal Hospital is a great veterinarian hospital that offers boarding and grooming. Our cat doesn't get anxious when we go there for her yearly checkup. Our dog loves going there for his yearly checkup and the occasional boarding and grooming. They treat us and our pets like family. It's great going there and seeing how our dog recognizes the staff and vice versa.

This is the best vet in the entire GTA and extended area. I would rate this place 6/5 stars. Maybe even a 7/5. The service is absolutely incredible. They really set the bar for how a vet should be. I have had animals all my life, and naturally have visited many vets. This place takes the cake! Every employee is friendly, respectful, and are SO caring! My story: My crazy hyperactive husky (Luna) nearly amputated her own toe. They took the time to really take care of her. They stitched her up, then made sure to have Luna come back for checkups to see the progress of her wound. I was given everything I may need (including a towel for my car in case she bled... just wow!). Over two weeks I visited 4 more times, and 4 times I left knowing my puppy was being taken care of by THE BEST. To the employees who remember Luna: You are all amazing! :) To everybody else: You will NOT regret visiting. You're pet will surely be taken care of here! These people really care. :D

Very overpriced they lie about everything to get u to pay more money my cat was sick and i went un to get him looked after they said he should recover in a couple days upon taking these meds the cost was $378 after tax two weeks went by he was still sick i took him in again it cost me $242 another week went by i took him to the vet on Queensway charged me $68 for everything couple days later my cat was feeling better

The facade of this place is pretty, and staff is super nice, however it clearly hides a lot of unprofessionalism. These people kept my pet sick for years in order to sell me the garbage food they represent. Since we stopped taking our cat in, he's healthy, playfull, his fur is smoother and beautiful and it's quite clear he's this whole other cat. It's impossible not to notice that we would take our pet in for a check-up and they would always find something wrong and our cat would get sick almost right after said visit, followed by extremely expensive hospital bills, such as an ultrasound that in 8 minutes cost us $980. Their answer was "it must've been poop" in his intestine, and we thought it was something more serious. Furthermore, the food we give our pet now is cheaper, it's real and turned him into a happy and healthy animal for the last 2 years. Our cat was miserable for years with the diet they put him on, made by Hill's. It's absolute poison this food! Saddens me a vet knows about all these things and is still able to live with himself and sleep at night participating in this massive scam. One thing is certain, they will not hurt our beloved cat again. They won't even see him ever again. Stay away from this place. They're dishonest and I never want to look at any of their faces.

Our family has used The Royal York Animal Hospital for about twenty-five years and we only ever had good service. The staff are a wonderful, caring group of people who went out of their way to help, advise, treat, laugh and ultimately, console us, when our last cat died. Amber would never have made it to the ripe old age of 20 without them. We highly recommend the RYAH team as an extended family for your pet; yes, good care costs but a true animal lover shouldn't hesitate to want the best for their four legged family members who give so much and ask for nothing in return except our love.

The people working here are incredibly nice and helpful. I’ve only had a few phone interactions but was given enough info to make some decisions for my dog. They also have a grooming service which is amazing - convenient and they do a great job. It’s actually probably the best groom my dog has ever received. They are on the pricier side but I suppose it’s best not to cheap out when it comes to pet health for certain things.

My partner and I came here with our Pomeranian, Fox, for the last year and a half. We got him when he was a puppy and he's almost 2. I always loved the staff who worked the front desk and the vet assistants - this review does not reflect how much I appreciate their kindness, sensitivity, and abilities! However, the alternating vets at this clinic have totally lost my respect. We've brought in Fox numerous times for checkups because he's had a sensitive stomach and, as first time pet owners, we're new to what to expect with our dog when he gets sick. What we've found are excessive blood work tests, prescribed medication before finishing exams and knowing the diagnosis, and overall the feeling that money is the driving force behind the clinic's treatment plans for animals. Fox will need to get teeth removed, as Pom's are genetically predisposed to bad teeth. However, the vet directly telling me that I should "take out a bank account for my dog's mouth" was completely inappropriate and made both my partner and I feel very uncomfortable. When we asked for alternatives to avoid going to a specialist who we couldn't afford, no options were provided. We've now found two clinics (Toronto & Niagara) who were appalled with our experiences and offered options that are safe, reasonable and effective. Bottom line: There are excellent clinics in Toronto that will not rob you off your money and prey on your emotions when trying to help your pet.

I would recommend RYAH to anyone who wants top notch care and customer service. The entire team at RYAH has always been friendly, responsive and takes the time to explain the full details of what they're recommending. They may be slightly more pricey than other clinics, but in my opinion you are paying for top quality. They are prompt to come collect your pet when it's time for their appointment - the time saved has been significant compared to prior experiences. They have also been quick to get my pet in for an appointment or order in prescriptions speedily when I need them. Another clinic I went to prior to switching to RYAH had me wait 2-3 weeks for the same prescription RYAH got to me in 2 days time (they were ordered around the same time frame). They really prioritize customer service and seem to genuinely care about your pet's health.

Dr. Allen explained step by step what he was doing during my cat's physical, and answered any questions I had. I have since switched to Royal York Animal Hospital after my regular vet couldn’t fit my cat in for what I felt to be an emergency.

Do not go here! They will give you false diagnosis on your pets and cause them to deal with it. Our poor pet has been visiting here almost his whole life and he's been suffering with infections weve taken our pet to a new vet and within the first day on new medication the infections are gone and our pet is active and being our lovable pet once again. For too long we listened to them to do nothing or use products that made the infections even worse causing more pain. More appointments more money, all they seem to care about is money, in the grand scheme of things. We will not be returning here with our pet and I advise any one who reads this to do the exact same stay away. Unless of course you like being lied to and having the wellbeing of you animal overlooked for your hard earned money.

Since 09/2020, Dr Allen has helped us care for three of our cats. Compassionate and reassuring, we especially appreciated Dr Allen's expertise and comfort during and following the difficult diagnosis of an aggressive cancer in one of our cats. During Covid, we were allowed to be present for our beautiful black cat's final moments, and couldn't have had a more caring and soothing vet than Dr Allen. I have also been grateful for the entire team's kindness while we have we sat in our car (during Covid) -- the joy with which our pets were received and returned to us was so appreciated. Although we are returning overseas for now, we plan to return with our cats whenever we're back. Thanks again

Yes, as some have said, they are expensive...but we have brought our "family" here for more than 25 years....Dr. Alan & Dr. Browne (sorry if spelling is not correct) have been trusted "friends" that I came to trust & respect! And Pearl & Charlie love them...(more so Pearl! :-) The only time I would have liked to have seen Dr. Alan, (but it was his day off,) was when our little Caddy was in such distress with a extremely low platelet blood count...if we were told that her chance of survival would be nil, we would not have rushed her to the emergency clinic downtown, paying an exuberant fee up front, only to have her treated without our consent, and then her suffering a stroke the next day, leaving us with the only choice...which could have been made in a more familiar setting, instead of a cold clinical place we did not know. This was a very emotional time for us as we had just lost another dog to an accident, 4 days earlier....and I think Dr. Alan would have given us a different option...he is a truly amazing doctor, who has sat on the floor to exam our older dogs & the compassion for the animals is very apparent. ( I had an experience with another doctor at RYH, who, when my cat was obviously showing signs of severe neurological problems, advised me not to put the cat or myself through a lot of tests, that would just be leading up to the inevitable....(which was done quickly and with a lot of compassion! Best bunch of support staff EVER!! Yes, you pay for what you get....and I will keep my pets with RYH forever....even when I can't afford them!!

Everyone here is beyond fantastic. You know they truly care about each and every animal that walks through their doors. The hours of operation are more than accommodating, and they always are able to squeeze in an appointment. We take all of our animals here and would be hard pressed to take them anywhere else. Oh and they have a candy dish at the front filled with Werther’s Originals. It’s a small gesture but I look forward to taking a few each time I am there. ;)

I don't normally leave reviews but I have to say my experience was so disappointing and upsetting that I wanted others to know and consider before they visit RYAH. I took my cat in because he was vomiting on a somewhat regular basis. I mentioned that the symptoms looked very similar to a cat I'd had who passed away from kidney failure. I explained all this to the vet tech. Then Dr. John Allan comes in to see my cat, and he doesn't even complete the physical exam (which I was charged full price for by way) before he says he feels a very large mass in his stomach. I was shocked to say the least, he was just at my vet in Vancouver in April before we moved here and couldn't believe they'd missed a mass the size of a fist, according to Dr. Allan. He then tells me that "in veterinary medicine, we don't like lumps in cats because 75% of them are cancerous." He says he will take blood work, but that ultimately I should go to see an internal medicine specialist at VEC for an ultrasound. As I'm leaving, both Dr. Allan and the vet tech give me their condolences. At this point I'm in tears, deeply distressed, thinking my cat is likely dying. The next day, the vet forwards me the blood test results and follows up with me on the phone. Nothing indicates cancer. He says to me something along the lines of "Well I truly think I felt a lump, but go get the ultrasound and you will have the answer right there." I get a $400 bill and not even a full exam. A week goes by before I get in to VEC for the ultrasound, and I'm super upset and worried all week long. However, I get there and the vet there was AMAZING. Very kind, he said he couldn't feel a mass but he would do the ultrasound. Long story short, there is absolutely NO mass to be found, the vet at VEC said he was likely feeling his kidneys and because my cat is half Persian, polycystic kidney disease is quite common in them. He determined that my cat only has stage 1 kidney disease, that he has had this condition his whole life, and that a diet of KD is all he needs. $1500 later. I'm shocked and appalled by how this was handled - vets that have a vague speculation shouldn't be telling their clients that their pet could likely die and it looks grim. And I've communicated all of this to the reception at RYAH, I just wanted others considering going to know I've wasted a ton of money, and experienced a lot of emotional distress, and ultimately got no help from them, in fact I was steered in the entirely wrong direction.

I am so happy that I found this animal hospital. When I had my first cat, I visited many Toronto area veterinarians. I kept running into the same problems: lack of care, sloppy practices and very tricky sales practices to scare huge amounts of money out of me. When I visited Royal York Animal Hospital for the first time, I was delighted by how different this place is from every other veterinary clinic I’ve ever been to. From the time I enter until the time I leave, my cat and I are treated very warmly. The front desk staff, vet techs and veterinarians are clearly animal lovers first and foremost, not salespeople!! No sales gimmicks, no pushiness to get me to buy my cat all kinds of fancy treatments or procedures. The veterinary care is first rate! I am so impressed with the thoroughness of the check ups that my cat has received, and the really great advice and support that I received from my veterinarian. Make no mistake, this place is a gem.

RYAH has always taken good care of my cat Belladonna. I am impressed with how much they love animals - yes, of course, they're a vet clinic! - in the way they talk to Belladonna when I bring him in and the other animals I see in the waiting room. They always answer any questions I have and discuss with me any concerns. Belladonna complains mightily when he goes there to be boarded when I'm out of town, but they tell me he has a good time and loves the little cat cave they put him in!

The Vet Techs and Dr. Alvarez treated us and our cat Rachel very well. Rachel was very stressed coming in for a check-up and blood work, yet the staff did a really good job in calming her down and reassuring her. So glad we chose Royal York Animal Hospital for our pup! The staff are so friendly and take the time to get to know you and your furry friend. We had a very scary situation with our pup that needed urgent care, the staff went above and beyond to meet with us immediately and get our guy the treatment and surgery he needed asap. We've called for advice, called for last minute appointments and ask advice about medication, all were met with friendliness and helpful information. The staff care so much for each animal they meet and make both the owners and pets at ease. Would never, ever take any of my pets there again. The owners are greedy, high and mighty. They blacklist you if you do not agree with their opinion or service. This happened to me and then I could not take any of my four pets to see our favourite vet, Dr Zack Jones, because he was only an employee. Management has issues. They overcharged my son in September, 2020 and had he not noticed after he had paid, they would have made extra money. Makes me wonder how many others have been overcharged and not noticed, or been forced into costly treatments their pets may not have needed. There are many veterinarians. This place charges too much for sub-service to maintain upkeep on their expensive building overhead and their care for your pet is substandard. Caveat emptor - Let the buyer beware. You have been warned!

Royal York Animal Hospital was always very helpful and caring to my cat who was diagnosed with Diabetes in 2015. It's been a long road, but because of their care he survived pancreatitis in 2016 and 2017, with a great recommendation to bring him to the Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital who were able to help him through these two bouts of pancreatitis. Unfortunately, recently, my cat Noodles passed away in May 2019, due to an enlarged heart. He had a lot of issues along with his Diabetes he also had some heart trouble and terrible anxiety. He was always afraid of everything, especially going to the vet, but the staff at Royal York Animal Hospital were always so happy to see him and very kind and understanding to his special needs. Upon his passing, the staff at Royal York Animal Hospital sent me a very nice sympathy card signed by the staff with a little gift of wild flower seeds to plant in my garden. It was a very touching gesture and I really appreciate all that they had done for my cat over these 10 years. Even though, I will not be having anymore pets for a while, I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new veterinarian for their pet. They are the best and very knowledgeable especially in terms of feline needs. The staff are always very friendly, kind and welcoming to any animal that comes their way. I would like to thank them for all their advice, knowledge and caring over these years! :D <3

Every one of the staff me and my puppy met at Royal York Animal Hospital were courteous, professional, knowledgeable and responsive. They adapted to and created their doing_business_during_Covid guidelines very quickly, right from March 2020, while maintaining their high level of customer service for the pet and human partner. When we first went to Royal York Animal Hospital, my puppy was just 3 months only, and it was before Covid. I saw how they worked with my young pup, and he did not seem stressed at all during his check up and shots. Clearly, the doctors and staff care about their four-legged patients. Since Covid, I have only stayed out in the parking lot, but customer service via calls, text messages, and emails remained 100% awesome.

To found a Animal Hospital in a emergency on Sunday it nearly in possible. My dog has her paw swollen and i got really nevus about that and know there are not that my that are open on Sunday. When I google search and saw them . I was extremely happy. They are not to far from my house like 15 minutes away from Kipling Subway station. They were able to fit in me urgently. Saw my dog and the consultation was great as well! I would recommend this place to anyone who lives in Bloor West Village ( Etobicoke area Kipling or Islington ) . Dr. Allen and all of the RYAH Staff are THE BEST!!! They are very gentle with my cat Stewie and have always been available to help me with him, even taking him in at a moment's notice! Dr. Allen correctly diagnosed Stewie's health, resulting in Stewie finally being pain-free after many years - his health condition was not properly treated at his previous clinic, resulting in Stewie's prolonged health issues and, ultimately, two surgeries. Dr. Allen's diagnosis actually saved me money on unnecessary surgeries. Stewie's previous animal clinic wanted to do an "exploratory surgery" on him, which would have cost me at least twice the amount of a dental surgery. Instead, Dr. Allen diagnosed that all of Stewie's teeth had to be removed; after the surgery, it was like Stewie was reborn - he actually has a voice and uses it, something he never did before the second surgery. I only wish I had known about Dr. Allen and the RYAH team before I had taken Stewie to his previous clinic, who had only taken out 3 teeth, when what he really needed was the full mouth dental extraction. Thanks to Dr. Allen's correct diagnosis Stewie is now pain-free and happy again!!! I shall always be grateful for Dr. Allen and the RYAH Staff's knowledge and thoughtful compassion toward Stewie. If you want a clinic that will give you an accurate health assessment of your four-legged family member and to be treated with the utmost respect and dignity, than look no further than Dr. Allen and the RYAH!!!

Dr. Allen is great! We first ended up here when our dog was bit in doggie daycare. We needed stitches for our pup fast! They accommodated us within 15 minutes and our girl was stitched up in no time. We just brought her back for an annual check up/vaccines, and with COVID protocols in mind they were very organized. Dr. Allen knows what he’s doing, is calm and confident. I knew our anxious and large Great Dane was in good hands. They had her out within 15 minutes, and had managed to give vaccines, take blood and do a general check up. Would highly recommend this clinic and definitely this doctor!

I've been coming to this hospital for years with all the animals in my home zoo. I've worked at another vet clinic, and while some vets offer different (maybe lower) prices for services, you pay for what you get at RYAH and it is worth every penny! The staff are beyond friendly, caring and knowledgeable. The facility is very clean with a hospitable waiting room. Your pet care is fully explained and the doctors take their time with both you and your pet. Pet care isn't cheap anywhere you go, and for the minimal price difference I'll take quality and doctors I like and trust any day.

I love my furbabies more than anything in the world and I want them to have the very best care possible. I had read many wonderful stories about RYAH...stories of dedication, knowledge, compassion, and the successes they have had treating so many challenging cases. I have 3 feral cats. Dauby and Jaspurr are mostly tamed and they seemed to like the staff that worked with them. Bigzby is not yet tamed, he might not ever be fully tamed...he is quite challenging to work with, but the RYAH staff surprised me with how wonderfully they worked with him and I was amazed at how responsive he was to their treatment. The hospital is roomy, bright, and clean with a great selection of quality pet foods, services, a few cuties available for adoption, and a comfortable waiting room. The best part about the clinic is the courteous and professional staff who offer a wide variety of skills. They are very patient and will answer all of your questions. I also love receiving a copy of my pets' medical reports following each assessment. I would totally recommend RYAH in a heartbeat!!!

Great place!I have to change my review on this place ,because a family member took their dog here and they hurt the dog's ears so much they dog was in distress and so was the owner of a dog so much that she had to call her husband to come there she couldn't even drive after it ,and the poor dog was so hurt it didn't know what it was doing ,and they can't talk ,so they rushed the dog to the emergency hospital in Mississauga and they gave the dog something for pain and it seems when the that doctor was cleaning the dog's ears he caused damage to the ears ,so a lot of pain for the dog and upset for the owners and a lot of $$$$ later no I can't recommend this place anymore sorry but I wouldn't feel right if I didn't update my review on this place,

Went to Royal York AH yesterday. This is not our regular vet but they are open Sundays so this was great for our poor cat who was not well. My family have trusted RYAH with our pets for almost 30 years. We adopted our old cat through them and my dog loves going there. Their team is friendly, professional, caring, and they communicate well. They make sure you understand what is going on and what to expect in your pet's care. The only downside is that they tend to be a bit on the expensive side, but you really do get what you pay for with them. Highly recommended.

BEWARE of being ripped off! Very disappointing experience. Brought in a friend's dog for a minor issue and the simple issue turned into a ridiculously expensive one. The vet/clinic took advantage of the situation and charged us ++$$$ for many unnecessary procedures and medications. I was so embarassed to tell the owners what happened (and they confirmed we were charged 4 times what it cost them at their vet for the same issue a few months prior).

Took my dog for annual vaccination and check up. Their system during covid is very effective. They do curbside service; you park then a nurse comes in, then you receive a call from the clinic to discuss details, then the nurse comes back, takes your pet and bring it back when they are done. I am so glad I found a new vet for my kitty! I called RYAH as a new client for my kitty with some concerning gastrointestinal symptoms and they were able to her the same day. Not a long wait for her appointment and great COVID protocols. Very helpful and friendly staff, too! Doctor assessed her vitals quickly and made recommendations for an x-ray, which was done speedily too. Was given helpful aftercare instructions. I was informed that the stool sample I gave in was lost by the lab, so they quickly remedied it by offering a new test (bringing a new container to my home) or refunding the cost. Total vet bill was on the pricier side, but the facility was a top tier one and worth the cost- and thankfully I have pet insurance and was able to get my cat help right away- and RYAH was so kind to help this insurance get processed. Our new permanent vet, for sure!

My rescue dog has been a patient and a groom client at RYAH for 8 years. Everyone - vets, techs, staff, groomers - does an outstanding job of making us feel at home and safe, not easy with my dog. He is large and has issues with trust, separation anxiety and manners. I have always been happy with our treatment, care and grooming. Other groomers have had problems with us, but not here. My dog is now an older gent and did not get good care as young dog before I adopted him, so I especially appreciate their sensible, preventive advice on vision, behavior, nutrition, weight, oral care, supplements and healthy aging. Top grades all around, great care. But Dr. Allen may be Buddy's favorite, he just can't help it. Highly recommended.

PLEASE READ BEFORE TAKING YOUR PET TO THIS PLACE. I am not one to put reviews even when I have bad experiences but given its the livelihood is my dog and other dogs I felt like I had to I took my puppy to this vets office for all his initial shots and etc by doing google reviews thinking it’s a caring office They had recommended some perceptions for my puppy to ensure him from Tyc and mosquitoes and so on. One of the drugs was called bravecto other was a drop instructed to go between the top shoulder blades monthly REVOLUTION as I applied the revolution the next day my dog did not seem all ok he was very dizzy and not walking all so right and then shortly after I noticed a skin reaction all down his spine Which then shortly after resulted in huge shedding down his spine. Until now I think we can agree it’s no one‘s fault that this happened however it’s the next part I have a big issue with. I contacted the office to explain exactly what my puppies going through. What I was looking for is for them take to acknowledge the problem and recommend me to bring him in to examine and perhaps to prescribe him another option that would work better for him however instead became very defensive and said that the specific prescription they have never heard of that it would cause shedding and that they don’t do exchanges of drugs. 1. The company itself promotes that it could cause side effect of shedding 2. I never asked for a refund and or exchange of drugs I said I have no More use for the remaining amount and that I would be looking for a better option 3. In the past other vets have exchanged drugs like this as puppies do grow and prescriptions are customized to the puppies weight given that my dog is still a puppy his prescription could’ve changed as he has grown in that time. I understand the “animal act says a crossing to them they are not allowed to take it back” but then I was instructed I can however donate it back to them how does that even make sense if it can’t be re used for another animal which is understandable even though fully sealed then how can it now be used suddenly on another dog given its been donated. Not once did I hear we are sorry to hear why don’t we book him in for such day to have him examined to make sure that he is OK and that she will get a prescription that would work for him “and that is all I wanted to hear” It is really sad that people just don’t care and operate as a business it is my understanding yes drs are a type of business but there must be some kind of care factor at the end. It is hard for me to put my experience in perfect writing but I hope this gives somewhat of an understanding of my experience. That being said the dr.s are not to take credit away from as they were nice but it’s obvious that Managment directed by ownership is just not coming from a good place. I see your reply however it won’t let me reply directly to it. The Asian vet needs to be let go or she needs to be retrained when it comes to assessing risks over benefits. My dog has allergies bulldog breed. On this particular vet visit she was the vet available. She noticed how well my dogs skin was doing and I told her I had switched foods. She then went on to tell me how I should put my dog on a medication for allergies. I asked for the name and googled it and found that the meds can cause far worst side effects and even kidney and liver problems. I told her this and she said you can’t believe everything you read on the web. I agree completely but this information was pulled up from the medication website. I told her this and she said yes well no worries don’t want to push you it’s up to you. Few minutes later she circled back to putting my dog on the meds. Seriously? My issue is with her and not the rest of the staff or vets.

I cannot reccomend this place to enough people in person so I've taken to Google reviews to do it. They make regular check ups and little issues so easy to deal with. Everyone on staff takes the time to address the baby questions we have. And when it's an emergency/bigger issues there is no where else I would rather take my dogs. Dr Allen is a godsent. My dog was in bad shape because of a herniated disk in his neck. Dr. Allen helped get us keep him comfortable, connected us to a neurologist and got him to expedite the appointment as my boy was in extreme pain.He made it a point to personally call with the appointment details. He checked in every step of the way. He even checked in with us after the surgery notes came in. I could not have asked for anything more.

BAD EXPERIENCE. I brought my puppy in here who has anxiety because he is so young. He was treated very poorly by the staff who couldn’t do a basic exam of him because he’s “scary looking.” He may have barked, but he has never bitten anyone nor would he. They kept insulting him, calling him “aggressive” because he was fearful of strangers touching him. One of the vets (I won’t name names) touched him very aggressively all over his body, she saw that he was afraid but kept going. She didn’t ease into it or try to introduce herself to him, she wanted to get it over with and wasn’t friendly. Then she had the decency to say that my dog bit her and wrote it in his file even though I was present and so was my other family member and neither of us witnessed any biting. He barked but that was it. She made sure to write in his file that he bit her and was aggressive. Then they charged us well over $500 for a checkup that we had to do ourselves, we had to do an ear swab because they were “afraid” to do it. Vets should not be fearful of animals, it is extremely unprofessional. We found another vet recently who was extremely friendly and nice to him. She let our dog sniff her and introduced herself and he was super friendly to her. She conducted the exam with zero problem because she’s a professional unlike the staff at Royal York. I would not recommend taking your dog to Royal York because they will scam you into buying things you don’t actually need and may be too “scared” of your dog to conduct an exam. This was a waste of my time. Thanks for nothing.

PLEASE READ BEFORE GOING HERE.... If I could give this place zero stars I would.... I left a review regarding my experience with reception desk around a year ago although I specified even then I had great experience with the drs treating my puppy at the time. I booked a appointment in February of 2020 for my dog with one of the two drs my dog had seen prior because this is not about reception or anything at this point I found a good dr that I trusted for my dog and I felt only comfortable going back to that dr and the importance of how front desk made me feel due to the unprofessionalism did not matter at all because my dog is way more important to me. I left a honest review about front desk with my experience hopping that perhaps they could take that and change there ways moving forward so other caring pet parents don’t have to be treated the way my pet and my self were by there reception team. When I booked my appointment in February it was made for may and in March the Covid-19 pandemic happened I heard nothing via email or phone if there would be a rescheduling for my dog I also did not hear anything in April or may thinking either they are fully operational or perhaps shut down. Today I called to see what happened to my pets appointment as I got no confirmations no commutation nothing. I explained that I had not heard from them to get any news as perhaps how Covid has changed there practice in business nor did I get my confirmation email etc. The lady asks me for my phone number to look up my appointment however she could not even find my appointment, then she asks additional information and finally finds my file but not the appointment. She says sorry this happened we were only treating emergencies until now but I will call you today and or tomorrow to see when we can have your pet in for his original annual treatment that was booked in February for may I get a phone call by someone few hours later by the name of Helen which is the same manager that wanted me to call in because she was sorry and wanted to make things better with wanting me to call her or email her last year after my original review. “Great job you did on fixing things Helen bravo” I will leave a screen shot of that also on this review. And she says sorry don’t even have your dogs files here anymore and don’t want you back here as a client because you left a negative review. I explained yes I did because my review is about front desk and not the drs it’s a animal hospital I don’t come there for your front desk I come there for the drs and I left that review not to put you down but this gives you the opportunity to practice a more professional and caring business. That being said when I left that review the manager wanted me to call in to make things better and that is why I also felt comfortable booking my pet in again a year later and hoping people learn from there mistakes. They told me they booked in my dog in February for may but they never did because there was no appointment history confirmed by the office First Lady I spoke to and then to say we are not wanting to take you back here because of my google review. Now my dog is left without his appointment and I had to find out not by them but by calling in finding out they never booked him in. Why would you ask me to contact you to make things better? Why would you book me in for may in February if you were never going to book it. Why not originally in February just explain you wouldn’t want to treat my pet anymore for what ever immature reason of yours so that way I could at least arrange another vet to take care of my little guy for when he was due. You should be ashamed of your self this is just sad practice. If anyone knows if Dr. allen and or Dr. Jakubowski work at any other office I would love to know. Thank you Why was I booked back in February for may answer! Why did HELEN THE MANAGER THEN REPLY SHE WANTS TO FIX THINGS AND FOR ME TO CONACT HER SAVE YOUR BS REPLIES ANYONE WITH 2 sense can see your full of it. Thank you ????????

Our dog had to have emergency surgery last week and the staff was phenomenal throughout the entire process. Our dog did have to be moved to another hospital to receive her surgery but Dr. Jones made sure to follow-up the next day to make sure our pup was doing well, and even answered a question I had post operation via text message. I'm very pleased with the service we received and our dog is on her way to making a full recovery.

I also told the receptionist the cat took out the needle for fluid therapy, so I'd like to find out the possibility of doing acupuncture on her. The clinic wanted to charge me $142 for a consultation even for just 5 minutes. Would it not make sense for the vet to have a 5 min phone conversation with me and assess the possibility first? The cat can no longer be sedated as it's really bad for her kidney. They should feel ashamed for their approach!

I have mixed feelings about RYAH. I have been taking my cats there for more than 20 years. Some of the veterinarians are kind, caring and friendly, while some are condescending and arrogant. So, I have had both lovely, wonderful experiences there, and horrible experiences there where I have actually gone home and cried. One thing I find very difficult is that the doctors tend to be very unwilling to work with me when I want to take a different approach to the care of my animals than they want to. A good example is the way they push the so called "prescription diets". They will not entertain the possibility that there are actually amazing, high quality foods out there that are far superior at treating certain conditions than "Hills Diets" (and before you respond to this comment, I will tell you that my mother gave her cat Hills on the vet's recommendation, and it made her cat very sick). I have found the same to be true with the vets pushing Advantage flea treatments, when again, there are extremely effective and completely safe and natural flea treatments out there that are much cheaper than Advantage. They don't listen and they don't want to hear it. They just take this "I know best" attitude, which is so annoying. It's very frustrating for me when I have to take one of my cats in knowing that I am probably going to get an argument or a frowny fact when I try to discuss options or concerns with the vets there. On the one hand, they do give good care and I do appreciate that, but on the other hand I wish they were more willing to LISTEN and work with me instead of being so dismissive and treating me like I am not as smart as they are. One of my kitties has an illness and I found the attending vet at Royal York so condescending to me, and yet, when he went downtown to the emergency hospital the same day, I was treated with so much kindness and respect. What a difference! They listened to me and respected my feelings. Just a couple of months ago, my kitty was at the emergency hospital in Etobicoke, and once again, I experienced a veterinarian who understood my concerns and took the time to both LISTEN and explain away my concerns. I actually told her she was SOOOOO much kinder than the vet that I had at Royal York and I really appreciated her approach.

this hospital is AAHA accredited, has quality care-Registered Vet Techs & Dr. Annette provided great exams for our small dogs on numerous visits to this hospital in the past . Also cats are available for adoption & can be seen at the front. I would recommend although they can be pricey in particular for spaying/neutering & teeth cleaning-tooth extractions. He gave great tips for her care that were easy to implement. Also told us how to get to the nearest emergency clinic since we were new to the area. Such a warm staff! Would highly recommend.

Love this place. Have been taking my pets there for over 30 years. I've even adopted pets from them. They guided me through how to care for a diabetic cat who went on to live for many years on insulin. I also had a cat with anxieties who was biting off her tail bit by bit when she was 2 years of age. With their expertise, we managed her on meds and a collar for over a year. She lived to the ripe old age of 20. We now take our dog there. I especially adore Dr. Yan who truly understand Jacks. Some of the staff have been there for as long as I have gone there. That's a sign of a good working environment. I highly recommend this clinic.

My boy kept going to the bathroom every minute, with 2 cats it was hard to tell who went pee at night so we got very concerned that he was blocked. We called at 8 am and got taken in at 10 am as the vet was also concerned. Unfortunately, the tests showed stones and surgery was the best option for him. I want to say that the hospital took care of him so well Admin: thank you for seeing the urgency in my phone call about my baby boy and booking us asap. Thank you for being able to move around follow up appointments to meet our schedule. And always being friendly when answering any of our questions and concerns. Dr. Jakubowska for being the first one to treat him and do all the test necessary to find out what is wrong with my little guy. Dr. Jones for performing the surgery , keeping us informed, during the entire process. Taking the time to answer all of our questions about his care and future care. VT Shaniqua : for providing me with updates throughout and a follown up photo of him in recovery. Future clients , do not hesitate, we had a bad experience with a previous vet actually 2 vets who I solely blame for making my cat suffer and die, my cat was very sick and neither one of these two "vets" using this word very loosely even bothered to check in. You get what you pay for. Is this clinic a bit pricier? It is. But the care is top notch. We get phone calls dailyish about his recovery , they do not rush u out , your pet is taken care off by the best!!!! I travel from Burlington here because of the services they Provide in the most caring way. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts ???? for taking such good care of my little guy....
