Last Friday we could not get them to look at one of cats that was not eating or drinking and even had what looked like a seizure in from of my wife. We had to take to an emergency vet and after trying to get her stable all weekend we finally had to put her down on Sunday night. Epic triage fail. Moving to another vet.

A year ago we went to visit for a mild skin infection and received the best treatment and medication plus the vaccines he needed. Last month we came back for a different reason and we are glad we did! Great and clean place, kind and gentle staff and excellent service! They take the time to examine and explain what is the situation and follow up with phone calls and emails to make sure your pet is ok. Prices are reasonable but definitely their customer service and vets are really their best asset!

He was on the mend the next day due to the medication prescribed and the love provided. This is by far the worst uncaring vet I have ever come across. My dog had a growth next to one of his toes. My appointment was with Jennifer Portch. No warm welcome, she was all business went to her computer and barely looked at us. Then she lectured us on how a raw food diet is terrible for dogs and said we are basically bad pet owners. Then she promoted her brand which of course they carry that I should buy. Instead of seeing what was wrong with my dog. She spent 1 minute looking at his paw and said interesting. Goes on about how its a button tumor and not acknowledging it could be anything else. She did not shave his paw or clean it to do a better diagnosis. Instead sent me home with ear infection medication. Because of this robotic uncaring and lack of empathy I went back to my regular vet, who took the time to do all these things and more. Stay away from this vet they just want your money. And will try to upsell at every turn. Try doing your job which involves being a good person that actually cares for animals and a relationship with their owners. I am absolutely appalled that this person is a vet, what a big disappointment to anyone that has an appointment with her.

Dr. Booth is very knowledgeable and patient with all of our questions as well as giving you other options if available. I had a kitty emergency last week and called to see if they could see my little guy pretty close to closing time. They were so wonderful and accommodating and didn't seem to mind we kept them there half an hour after they were supposed to close. The tech was great and sympathetic and the vet, gave us different options and recommendations.

My friend recommended we visit with our first dog, while he was alive Dr. Booth, Dr. Portch and Dr. Johnson were very helpful and compassionate. When he passed we brought our new dog here and got the best of care. We're going through some tricky times right now with our girl, they found she had symptoms that alarmed them and immediately referred us and helped us get into an Oncologist specialist in Mississauga/Oakville. Because of their quick attention her Lymphoma was diagnosed quickly. It has literally given us months extra (possibly more?) we never would have had without their quick intervention. Even while we're getting treatments at this other location due to her specialty needs, the Doctor's at Richview Animal Hospital check in after reports come back from periodic emergency hospitals or her oncologist which means a lot. The other staff are fantastic as well, special shout-out to Lisa who is always bright and welcoming and concerned with how the fur family is doing. Pet ownership is expensive, you never know how much time you have and when you find out there are terminal issues, it can be stressful for pet and humans alike. The value we get back from the care provided is more than worth the expense of pet ownership, thank you Richview Animal Hospital. You saved our girl and she's comfortable while we enjoy our remaining time with her!

I moved to the neighbourhood and Richview Animal Hospital was recommended to me by other dog owners. I have a senior dog with two relatively benign tumors (according to my previous vet) in different places. After our first visit the Richview vet evaluated her and recommended that the tumours be removed. We received two estimates, one for the initial blood work for about $300 and another for the actual procedure $1500 with a 20% variance. We accepted the estimates and proceeded with her blood work. It was clean and we were scheduled for her surgery, but that’s when the situation went awry. Less than a week before the scheduled surgery we were informed that the appointment had to be pushed out a week, and that the estimate had been “revised”. It was now $2300 with a 20% variance, an $800 difference. I asked for an explanation for the date change and the inflated estimate and was told that the original estimate had an incorrect time allotted and additional time was needed to be added to perform the surgery safely and that for some reason the vet was no longer available on the original date. I said that I felt this was a bit of a bait and switch, because we had already paid for the blood work and agreed to the procedure with the original estimate. I asked if we decided to not go with the procedure if anything could be done to discount the actual procedure cost or provide a refund for the already completed blood work if we decided not to proceed. Management relayed a message through the technician I was speaking with that nothing could be done. I do not doubt the accuracy of the revised estimate, and I don’t suspect any malice, but I felt that it was extremely unprofessional to not take greater accountability for the original mistake that was made. I’m also unsatisfied with how quickly particular veterinarians at this hospital push surgical options for benign conditions that aren’t aggravating quality of life. That was not the only negative experience I’ve had. I also have a puppy of 5 months. At 16 weeks the vet noticed her baby fangs were a grey colour (the root had died) and strongly recommended that if they didn’t fall out within a week that they should be surgically extracted under anaesthetic. I contacted my puppy’s breeder expressing concern. I sent the breeder photos of her teeth and she checked with a dog dental specialist she’s been working with for a long time. The breeder relayed that the condition of the teeth was no reason for alarm, and that sometimes baby teeth will lose blood supply (and turn grey) before they fall out. If it’s not causing pain or showing signs of inflammation and infection that it’s fine to wait until they fall out on their own. We were also informed that baby teeth fangs should fall out anywhere between 20-28 weeks, not necessarily by 16 weeks like our vet had suggested. Sure enough the teeth fell out at about 22 weeks and her adult fangs started growing in fine. These experiences (and others not mentioned) lead us to seek out a new vet.

My cat had stopped eating for more than 24 hours and I wanted him seen by a veterinarian ASAP. I phoned Richview Animal Hospital and without any appointment they could accommodate me as a new client immediately. I had a very positive experience meeting the staff - everyone from the front counter to the technicians were friendly and professional. They made me feel like my cat was in good hands. The place was clean and well staffed. I was given a number of options and exact quotations before surgery. As my cat's health did not improve on its own, they did X-rays and blood tests and Dr. Sterbinsky performed surgery. After the operation he phoned me and told me what he did during and after surgery, what he found, etc. a very thorough report which I highly appreciated. I never felt rushed, and I think my cat was treated better than humans. I was able to visit my cat while it recovered, and I got again, a very thorough recap (with anatomical illustrations) from Dr. Portch. At home, while the cat is making a full recovery Richview Animal Hospital made daily calls to me - sometimes SMS or emails when I wasn't available on the phone, to inquire about the cat's recovery and answer any questions. I am throughly impressed with all the doctors (Dr. Johnson and Dr. Booth too) the technicians and the staff and would recommend this veterinary office to anyone who loves their pet.

I brought my cat to this vet with what I was sure was an abscess. My cat was there for 6+ hours and each contact, was the vet requiring permission to do more and more tests, which of course drove the bill up. At the end of my $1200 visit, they say it must be a sprain, but we won't give pain medication until we get this one last test. I agree, pay my bill and come home. The next morning the abscess I was sure he had, burst open. Another visit, they say to stop giving him those pain meds(that they forced me to test for or withhold meds) and clean up the wound. A few days later, my cat is sneezing constantly and lethargic. Take him to MY vet and they diagnosed him with a respiratory virus he could have only caught from Richview Animal Hospital. Do not waste your time here, buyer beware. If you are taking your pet to the vet, you want them treated accurately and not come home with a sickness they didn't previously have. Or have a vet that would withhold pain medication they want to prescribe until you pay for another test. Google doesn't allow a zero star rating unfortunately.

I have been with Richview for a few years. Overall, I have been fairly happy with the Vets, Techs, and service. This changed when I needed to have dental work for one of my kitties. The preparation for this appointment is pretty extensive. I was advised of my drop off time, that Emerson would be the second appointment for his dental (around 10am), I would get a text when the surgery started. The entire day passes, I have heard nothing. By 4pm, I’m concerned and call. I was advised that they were just starting. I was quite angry that I had been given the wrong information, and he had been sitting in a cage for 8 hours. I would have rather dropped him off later, or at the very least, given the right information. When I picked him up at the clinic, a Tech advised me to give him another dose of painkillers later on in the evening. He was already high as a kite. I asked repeatedly if this was ok. I was assured it was. Getting him home and reading the discharge instructions, it clearly said that the painkillers should be given the following day. On the envelope with the medication, it says the same thing. Upon reading up on this buprenorphine, I was mortified. I decided to follow the written instructions. If I had overdosed Emerson, what would have happened? Would I have hurt him? Would that have killed him? Richview said they would call the day after the surgery. They didn’t. Left a message the following day. By then, I noticed that Emerson had vomited following the painkillers. By the time I saw the vomit, I had given him his second dose of the day. His breathing was a bit strange, and I was monitoring him to see if I needed to get him to Emergency. Called Richview the following morning, expressing my concern about being given the wrong information about the pain meds, but also being concerned about his reaction. I was assured the Vet would call me that day. Nothing. I decided to forgo the painkillers due to Emerson’s response. This was an awful experience from the start. Were it not for being legally bound to a “Wellness Package,” I would be looking for another Vet. I’m thankful that at least I can go to Emergency if needed. My trust in Richview went from upper floor to the basement.

I am happy to be with a veterinary practice I can trust!! They referred me to surgery at the Enlarging Nasal Openings in Dogs (Stenotic nares is a form of brachycephalic syndrome, an upper airway obstruction disorder seen in breeds like bulldogs). The result is impressive, on the first night she was no longer snoring and was breathing better. We also did the castration at the clinic the points were perfect almost imperceptible!

I recently started taking my two cats to Richview Animal Hospital after debating for a while where to switch them to, since I hadn't changed vets since moving to the area in 2016. Just want to say I am so, so glad I decided to choose Richview. The quality of care, service and professionalism they demonstrate are truly exceptional. Not to mention they offer very reasonable, fair pricing. My older, female cat has notoriously hated the vet, and we had such a great experience during COVID & they made her as comfortable and stress-free as possible. My younger male cat recently had a scare with ingesting a small amount of plastic, and the front desk/admin. staff and vet technicians were so helpful to alleviate my worries over the phone. Please do yourself a favour and research more about this place. The reviews here on google should be enough to make you not want to bring your pet here. I’ve brought my puppy here ever since she was 9 weeks old. Every time she has seen Dr. Kai Moore my partner and I have left extremely satisfied. The most recent time I brought my puppy in she was experiencing some awful symptoms that I wanted answers for so I opted for any doctor that was available to see her. I felt very rushed and very uninformed my whole appointment. It felt like the dr just wanted to go home for the day versus treating my puppy. Since I have their puppy wellness plan I thought most of the fees were covered. (Who would assume they would leave with an $800 pet bill when they pay monthly for a wellness plan??????) I was told a price for the x-rays that were needed for diagnostic purposes which I consented to. I was not told about the blood work that costed us nearly $230. I was sent home with food and medicine without any specific instruction and I spent 3 hours there and lost nearly $800 for my puppy who is still experiencing the same symptoms she went with. A couple days later, I thoroughly read my invoice and I find out I was overcharged $80. Please find a passionate vet who will treat your pet like their own. Unfortunately this place practices for money versus helping people.

We just had our first visit with Richview Animal Clinic, and I’m very impressed. There is a good reason why they have such great reviews. I took my 3-year-old pug in for his annual shots and a check up. Dr. Portch was the best! She spent time asking me questions about him as she examined him, and she addressed all of the concerns that I had. She educated me on the breed and their common ailments, and she gave me sound advice on preventative measures. The visit was not rushed at all and the exam was the most thorough one my dog has ever had. I found the costs comparable to other Vets. They offer a wellness package that I will most likely get in the near future. The girls up front were also wonderful. They did a good job showering my pooch with lots of love and attention to make him feel comfortable and welcome. It was a great first experience and we will be back.

I would highly recommend using Richview animal hospital because they truely care about the animals wellbeing. I have two cats and I've always had to keep them in their cage unless it's their turn to see the vet. Richview told me to allow them to roam freely in the room until we needed to leave. I always dread going to the vet because it's so stressful having the cats cry. They hate being in the box. They were also very thorough and didn't rush through the examination. Iv never been to a vet until now that didn't rush us in and out in 10 minutes.

Update 1: I would like to clarify that we did pay 2500 extra based on the recommendations from the vets office. This is on top of the 140 a month we are paying with the vet. Additionally we paid approximately 700 dollars for extra care provided at the vet. After this post went up up the vets office has been hostile and unreasonable. They are holding us hostage based on terms which were never disclosed to us. Stay away. Find another vet. First post: This vet made us sign up for a puppy wellness plan under the false pretense that we would be covered for any checkups, after care, and our puppy's neutering. Its a 140 dollars a month approximately. However on top of this monthly bill we paid a total of 2500 dollars extra for our babies care. Overall we felt pressured, scared and cornered throughout our experience with this clinic. Avoid this clinic at any cost. Go to any other clinic in town.

Watch out. this place advertises a laproscopic spay but they take out the ovaries & the uterus. same with jane animal hospital. the only diff between richview's spay & a traditional spay is the incision is smaller. but they charge the normal expensive laproscopic procedure amount. & they go out of their way to not tell you that they take the uterus out also. this is why they have appointments available with little notice. roncy animal hospital only takes out the ovaries & they are booked 4 months in advance.

An extremely disappointing experience. I showed up and called to confirm my details and they said to wait in my car. After waiting for over 45 minutes to an hour and numerous calls that left me "on hold for the next customer service representative" (this was weird as its a small hospital made me feel like I was on hold with the government) Then they tell me, they checked in the wrong animal! I'm unsure how this is possible as I gave them my personal info and my pets info. The exam was informative but they didn't tell me the medication would have side effects. Won't be coming back.

Just over a month ago, I was looking for a Vet in my area. We were looking to getting a puppy (which was all very new to me) and I had so many questions. I called around to various places and no one answered the phone. I called Richview and Teresa answered. She was very kind and patient, answered all of my questions and I felt better informed. A week later, I called to book an appointment with Richview for the new member of our family and Teresa answered the phone again. Not only did she remember who I was but she was so excited for us. Our first visit to Richview's office was great. We were welcomed with smiles and the office was very clean. The team is very informative, patient and they take the time to answer all of your questions and concerns. Our little pup Jake just loves Charlene. This animal hospital is the worst hospital to take your pet, because: 1. The worst time management! During the summer of 2021, we made an appointment for our GS puppy. When we arrived we had to wait 45 mins before we were allowed to enter the hospital. We waited another 40 mins for a doctor, and additional 25 mins to receive the vaccine and clean the puppy's ears. After this, our puppy was very exhausted. 2. This hospital prescribes unnecessary medication to make a profit! After the first visit, our puppy got sick and we went back to the hospital. Before the appointment, we called and inquired about any delays. We were promised no delays. However, we waited 20mins before we were allowed to enter the hospital. The service cost was twice as high, additional and unnecessary medications were prescribed. A similar issue was resolved in another animal hospital for half of the costs we pay here, with fewer medications required. After our 2nd visit, we told the hospital that we are transferring to another hospital. However, this was ignored and we continued to receive phone calls regarding appointments. 3. Lack of professionalism! This hospital called us to schedule an unnecessary appointment for rabies vaccination. The rabies vaccine is given at 16 weeks and 1 year. We have an 8-month-old GS and this hospital called us and made an appointment for rabies vaccination. This is illegal and no one has the right to do or tell someone to give the rabies vaccine to a dog at the age of 8 months. This was very unprofessional and stupid. 4. The stuff is rude and unprofessional! When the receptionist called us to notify us about the illegal rabies vaccination appointment he could not answer any of our questions, was rude, and hang up on us. In conclusion, we highly do not recommend this hospital. There are other better hospitals in the area.

I've got a pup named Koda and I've been taking him into Richview Animal Hospital from the first day I got him. Koda is a bit of an odd ball and they have helped me a lot in figuring him out. I came here to get my 17 year old cat checked because of a nose bleed, they were trying to charge us more than $2500 of just test and couldn’t tell us what was happening to him. Just for blood work and a check up was $400 they also charge us $100 for a senior profile. So I decided to take my cat to another Vet and they charged me $500 for a checkup, blood work, X-rays, medication, and to stay overnight!!! $2500 is unacceptable for Richview hospital!! Very disappointed as they couldn’t even tell us the worst case scenario! I don’t recommend going here!!!!! Very very disappointed!!!

07/31 2pm: The vet reach out to me after my review. She will discuss with the management the "response in 12 hours or under" promise they have in their website, because they are only able to reply in under 24 hours, and this may cause frustration to customers that are expecting a response quicker than what they can actually deliver. She was very helpful over the phone to discuss our dog's situation. And we decided to book an in-person appointment so she can take a look at Jackie and address the situation. The text consultation amount will be waived from the in-person amount. Which I personally think it's fair, considering that if you went with the in-person consultation to start with, you would have those doubts addressed anyhow. I'm updating my review to 4-stars as the company was very serious in receiving feedback and addressing my complains, quickly reaching out to me and resolving the situation. 07/31 1pm : Do not use the virtual consultation! Extremely disappointed! We booked a virtual consultation via text. We thought that it would be an actual consultation where we interact with the vet via text. They promised a response in under 12 hours. We gave a description of the situation we needed vet support. It took more than the promised 12 hours to get a few lines very basic level (google like) response. Wrong assumptions done, no questions asked, no pics requested. I replied back with a couple questions quickly after their response and never heard back. As the name implies, I thought that this was going to be a consultation via text with two way communication between us an a vet. We went to Richview for the first time a couple months ago to get our dog the annual vaccines and check-up and all went well, but I'm extremely disappointed with this virtual consultation service. Probably the worst vet interaction we ever had and the most not well spent $28 dollars we did in our lives. Had vets a lot more helpful via phone an not charging for it. I don't complain on paying because it's their time so it's fair to charge for it, but this was just pure poor service.

Normally Reggio (our dog) is so anxious at the Vet. that it becomes virtually impossible to properly examine and give him his shots, but at Richview everyone was so good with him and the Doctor was able to examine him thoroughly and give him his 3 shots without any real issue - very impressed and everyone was so pleasant towards me and Reggio and that made our 2 visits so much easier for Reggio!

From reception to Dr everyone was amazing. The receptionist was very patient and took great notes for the Dr to understand the circumstances (no in office visits right now due to Covid). The assistant who took him in was very friendly. He was so excited to go with her like he's known her forever. Dr was very thorough. After assessing him she called me with her findings. She gave me options and explained everything to me. Everyone was very professional. I received prompt replies. I waited a bit past the appointment time but tbh it doesn't matter. When you're dealing with animals who can't tell you anything and owners anxiously waiting outside, there bound to be some delays. It's totally understandable. I would rather wait and make sure all the patients get assessed proper. I would highly recommend this office.

I've been a client with Richview since 2018 and service was satisfactory until Covid-19 started. Since then, I have felt very disappointed and frustrated with their management. Clients have not been allowed to enter the hospital to accompany their pets to appointments *regardless of what stage of reopening Toronto is in* Why is it that I can enter a mall or store with capacity and social distancing limits, but not accompany my pet? The price I am paying here does not reflect the value for such impersonal services from March 2020 to present. All clients have to call the hospital upon arrival to notify the reception that they are here. This has led me to wait in my car anywhere from 30mins - 1hr before my pet was admitted inside, despite arriving on time - 3 TIMES. The lack of customer service and quality that has resulted from this type of no contact service has led me to explore transferring my pets to different vet. When I was booked my puppy's spay surgery, I booked it for a specific date so that she would be operated by a specific doctor, I had made this request clear when booking the appt. On the day of the surgery, I found out a different doctor also scheduled to perform surgeries on this date would be completing her spay. In addition, the hospital requested me to drop off my puppy at 8:30am, which I arrived on time for. Her surgery did not start till 11:30am.... Some positives are that the Vet Technicians that I have come into contact with are very nice and friendly. As well Dr. Moore is the best doctor in my opinion. I hope this hospital becomes more organized and relaxes their Covid-19 restrictions. Most clients I see standing/and or waiting in their car outside the hospital appear equally frustrated.

Recently moved to the neighbourhood and booked my first appointment here. Understandably covid protocols mean checking in via phone and waiting outside. I also understand things happen and it cant always run on time. People are usually understanding if they are given some sort of update. I wanted 45 minutes. I contacted them multiple times but was given no information. This didn't make for a great first impression or strike confidence that my pets would be cared for. I tried to call one last time but after a few minutes on hold, I gave up and sent an email saying I was leaving. My kitty Chica was very sick for 2 days. I looked online on Friday to book an appointment and everything was booked until Monday. I was going to wait until Monday except that Chica was crying and had problems lying down and sitting up. I realized i could not wait the entire weekend to have someone look at her. I called the clinic and told them my story and how Chica had barely moved all day. She told me they were booked until Monday and then said 'hold a minute'. I was expecting to hear 'come on Monday' - since i knew that everything was booked. However, she said 'come right away' and we will squeeze you in. Turns out she was bitten had an abcess and was in great pain. 1/2 hour later she had antibiotics, painkillers and a clean wound. Next day she was back to her 'bad kitty' self. I am so grateful that they took Chica because she was in such pain from the infection. A veterinary office that cares about animals and their well-being and will make exceptions if the need arises. Thank you all from the gal you who answered the phone, the vet tech and the doctor.

I've had my cat for 8 years. I received more education in this visit than the last 6 vets I've been to. The Dr. also was very kind. She did not make me feel judged for not knowing what I probably should have known as a cat owner. I left with a clear action plan and future costs. The wait was alittle long but everyone including the other fur parents were very friendly and the Dr. did explain those were emergency patients. Updated review 3 years later August 4, 2021. My cat remains a client of RIchview and I continue to receive excellent service. I went in for his senior examination approximately 3 weeks ago and he was so anxious and as a result vomited in the exam room. The vet was soo kind not only in his professional examination of my cat but also in his interaction with him. Wiping my fur babies face was just soo touching to me. I went back today as my cat still wasn't well and the vet had some kind of magical hands that not only calmed my cat down (as he hates car rides) but he slept all the way home. WOW. I also wanted to say thank you to the vet tech who cuddled my cat like I would. I have been to many vets around the GTA ...and this is the first vet hospital where I see the vet, vet staff love my cat like I would and this has not always been my experience. I have brought my working K9 here, as well as my pet dog and cat. I have always found it rather easy to make an appointment, in that they have late hours. Me and my fur babies have always received a very warm welcome upon entering, and I don’t have to wait long before being called in. I feel the techs are very knowledgeable, as well as the veterinarians. I feel like all my questions get answered and everything is explained clearly. The doctor reviewed my pets medical file and was familiar with her history, which I took comfort in. When it appeared that some information was missing from the previous vet, they called to get that information. I like that they go over the estimates of future procedures and follow up to see how my animals are doing. Another vet took the time to help measure my pets nails, which wasn’t necessarily part of the scope of the exam, and was very much appreciated.

Cannot say enough about this clinic. Our vet could not see my sick cat so I called Richview being that they were close to our new place. My vet faxed blood work and other test results. The team there stayed 45 minutes after they closed to get needed tests done and they were kind and considerate. A big bill, but I already knew what I was getting into and they made it clear all the testing was my choice. Would highly recommend.

This was my fist time visiting this Vet, despite a bit of a wait in the car, the overall service was good. What was quoted to me was accurate as per the invoice. The staff were very thorough with their explanation of the examination that took place and recommendations were made but they were not pushy if you declined. Compared to other vets I have been too, this experience was pleasing and I wouldn’t hesitate to bring my dog back when needed.

I brought my new puppy to this vet based on some positive reviews, unfortunately, my experience was the worst imagineable. Initially my puppy was constipated. I went along with all of their recommendations for x-rays, stool samples, medications, changes in food, etc... Six hundred dollars later, I had no diagnosis. All tests came back normal but my puppy went from constipated to diarrhea and no in between. This back and forth went on for over a week. Then on Saturday night, my pup had really bad diarrhea, so the very next morning I made an appointment and the only time available was Monday at 1:20pm with Dr. Moore. I booked online with their online booking system and I advised them that my puppy hadn't pooped since Saturday night. I even included a video of my tiny pup straining and screaming in pain when trying to poop. At 11:30am (less than two hours before my appointment), I got an email from them, that my appointment had been cancelled and based on my description of his problems, it was an emergency and I needed to take him to another place immediately. I was in disbelief that they were cancelling my appointment so I called their office and they provided me with a phone number of another animal hospital, which I called and was closed. Richview Animal Hospital had NO regard for my puppy at all. They knew this was their screw up and that my puppy was in an emergency situation and when I called them to see if they could squeeze him in given the emergency situation, they simply said "sorry, we can't". I have been a pet owner for more than 24 years. I have had various vets around the cities where I have lived and I have NEVER seen or witnessed anything as callous as what happened here. They knew my puppy is in danger and they simply cancelled the appointment because one of their vets didn't show up to work??? How is it that one of their vets, couldn't take 10 minutes to cover their mistake, when my puppy was in serious trouble? Prior to writing this review, I also read a few other reviews on here and I can say from my experience, the negative reviews are 100% accurate. This is a very greedy vet. They will push the dog food they sell. They push expensive diagnostic tests, try to make as much money as they can and then when you really need them, they aren't there for you. Absolutely disgusted by this place. Steer clear, profits over patients. 0 Stars warranted.

Had the dog at the vet right on time. Finally. After a 27 min wait, he went in. Two days later, went to get some meds for the dog. I called, as per instruction. After 10 mins, I walked up to the door. A girl was sitting there, headphones on, looking at me, the phone ringing with my call, and she turned her head away from me. Like I wasn't even there. Finally. A guy came out. Told him why I was there. He came out, almost right away, with the meds. My 1st visit. Not impressed.

I brought my dog in for 2 appointments. The first one the staff made me wait outside for 30min whithout any instruction to me in -5 weather. The second appointment, the staff left me outside 10min in -10 degree weather. They finally let me inside and made me wait an additional 40min to see the Dr for a follow up vaccine. Don't waste your time. There are cheaper and better vets in the area who value you and your time as a customer. I wouldn't have posted this review if it was a one off occurance.

I had a very negative first & only experience with Richview Animal Hospital. Once in the exam room with my both of my dogs, they started gauging me for more money claiming they had misquoted me on not just one item, but on everything. From my initial estimate of $1,450.24 for both dogs + extractions, I was put on the spot and expected to pay nearly $2200 +. This was dropped on me only after the exam on both dogs were performed, and I was expected to pay the exams fees. I was forced to wait at the clinic, until the owner or management was called because I refused to pay for the exam fee when I had been grotesquely misquoted and mislead into bringing both of my dogs there. In October of 2019 I called and inquired about dental cleaning under anesthesia for both of my 9 year old Morkies. The receptionist walked me through the estimate, advised that there would be additional cost for any potential tooth extractions (which I expected). Copies of the estimates were sent to as well by email (please see attached). I called Richview Animal Hospital the week of January 13, 2020 re-confirmed the estimate and scheduled the initial exam and bloodwork for both my dogs for January 23, 2020. Upon arriving, the dogs were admitted into the exam room and were examined by Dr. Booth. No complaints about Dr. Booth. The exams are standard for new patients, and are a pre-requisite for the dental procedure. Both my dogs had their previous vet records transferred to Richview Animal Hospital, where they had recent exams performed as well. After Dr. Booth had left the room, the vet tech went over the estimate with me again. She re-stated the amounts (attached) which I was quoted, and then advised me that I had been misquoted for the dog's blood tests. Instead of $477.68 for their exams and blood tests, my new total was going to be over $700 for that visit. I let this go, and agreed to pay. As we continue, the vet tech re-stated the estimate provided to me for the dental procedures. She again advised that I had been misquoted. Instead of $486.28 per dog, it was going to be closer to $700 per dog before extractions. The extractions are not what I am challenging, but rather the 'misquoted' estimates which I have on paper attached, which mislead me into coming to Richview Animal Hospital in the first place. At this point I was not prepared to accept yet another 'misquote', and I advised the vet tech that I felt I had been mislead and that I was lured into this appointment under false quotes. I asked her if Richview Animal Hospital can honour at the very minimum the price quoted to me (attached) for the dental cleaning, that I would pay for the difference in the blood work and as well for all extractions. For about 10-15 mins I was left waiting in the exam room, with my two dogs. The vet tech came back and simply said "sorry, we are training our team to give better estimates. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do for you". I was upset at this point, and suggested I would leave and go elsewhere. The vet tech left again, after another 5 minutes another person came into the exam room. I told her I was not inclined to pay the exam fee today, because it was contingent on the dental procedure and only after was I mislead and told I was misquoted and the cost was substantially more. She then offered me $50 off per dog, which was nothing in the grand scheme. I declined, and was made to wait there until the owner was given a call to consent that I would not pay the exam fee. Overall I spent just under 1 1/2 hours under this ordeal at Richview Animal Hospital with both of my dogs. This was my first and only experience, I felt taken advantage of and treated unethically. The owner was called while I was there, and made zero attempt to do the right thing. She did not speak to me, she did not honour the quotes provided and she certainly never followed up. I will not and do not recommend Richview Animal Hospital. If you read the reviews, I am not the only person who has a similar review, pay attention to those!

I would like to start off by saying i would not recommend taking your pets to this place. I made an appointment to take my puppy to get his shots. I was 10 min late and I was questioned where I was. I advised the receptionist I would there in 2 min which I was. Once I arrived I waited 20min. . That being said when I asked why I was waiting this long outside she said you have to wait your turn but my appointment was 30 min ago. The Manager as she said she was seemed irritated and I must say zero customer service for someone that was bringing there pet there for the first time. Not welcoming what so ever. Finally I technician came out to let me know that they were ready to see my puppy and while I was waiting with my 7 year old son she advised me that my son was not allowed in and that only one person can enter with the puppy. Right there I wanted to just take my puppy to another animal hospital and after my son had a melt down as he was so excited to see his dog for his first doggy appointment she said NO and said she can take my dog in and examine him and we can do the appointment over the phone. Now why would I want to leave my dog inside there for the first time and not know what they are doing to him what treatment and what I’m paying for if I’m not there to see. . Now who takes there pet and let’s a doctor examine there dog and just pay after not even seeing anything not being there to meet the doctor and get a feel of there service. . As I had no other choice I said okay. As I was trying to calm my son as he was crying in the car. I see that they allowed a mother with her teenager daughter enter the building. Now how are they following policies and procedures. They deny my 7 year old son but allows another family to enter. I called them and said to bring my puppy outside I’ll take my business elsewhere. I prefer to give my business to another animal hospital where they treat all customers the same with respect. Terrible customer service and do not recommend richview animal hospital for your pets.

I feel compelled to write a review of this clinic because of the extraordinary support and compassion that they gave our dog Ralph and especially our family (2 sons aged 12 & 11 y.o at the time) when I was hit by an SUV with Ralph on a running leash. Unfortunately, Dr. Booth was unable to save Ralph's life but we will never forget how he and all the vet techs went out of their way to support our family through this terrible experience. We have subsequently rescued two dogs, one of whom was severely abused. Dr. Booth and Dr. Portch have been amazing in assisting in Mason's rehabilitation after a trainer suggested that he should be put down.

After my little Yorkie Bella was was rushed to an emergency vet hospital due to congestive heart failure, I decided to switch to a regular vet who was closer and had access to a cardiologist if needed. I have had 2 visits at Richview so far and I couldn't be happier with the service! The vets and vet techs that I have dealt with were honest and caring. They laid out all my options, described her condition in detail and never pushed me to choose pricier/unnecessary treatment options. We brought our dog in for a nail trim after he was refused at Petsmart and at-home attempts were unsuccessful. Dr. Pastuszok has been assisting us with finding a medication that will keep our dog calm in order to get the nail trim done. Although we haven't yet found the right medication, the understanding and encouraging responses from the staff at Richview has been more than I could have asked. I switched vets because my last vet was always pushing unnecessary tests and treatments. I was surprised when Dr. Johnson spent the time and actually got down and did a thorough hands on examination of my dog. Drop off time 8am - Pickup time 4:30 pm. Our puppy Kaylee had surgery last Thursday. We were so nervous as this is the first time Kaylee has had any medical treatment apart from shots, checkups and the usual care year round. Kaylee had some teeth extracted also teeth cleaning done by Dr Jennifer Portch, DVM. What an amazing doctor. The staff who took excellent care of Kaylee was outstanding. We were notified when Kaylee’s surgery was starting, every step of the way we were constantly updated on the progress. Dr Portch called me during surgery to notify us of further teeth that needed to be extracted explaining it would be in Kaylees best interest to do all the necessary work at once. Which we did. We were notified when surgery was completed and informed on Kaylees condition. (Which was fine) The staff really took excellent care of Kaylee during recovery. On pickup that evening I was taken step by step on Kaylees recovery, things to do, meds to take when to take them. how Kaylee would react in the days following surgery. Kaylee is recovering at an amazing rate. I have to thank Dr. Portch and all the wonderful staff at Richview Animal Hospital for the care and loving way you take care of your four legged friends who come through your doors daily. Highly recommend Richview Animal Hospital.

My dog had two ACL tears in his back legs, they said they couldn't fit him in for a month because they had a lot of 'new animals' joining the hospital. He has arthritis and needed the surgery, they said they would do x ray's a month after requested, the x rays would not have shown the tears in his legs. The other vet got him in less than a week later. Would not recommend to anyone.

Ive been surprised and feel that I've found a place, to not have to worry about taking my small dog June!! I had a bad vet experience after getting her fixed 11 years ago and after never looked back. Until she got a bad gum infection. The old way of healing her didn't workout this time. I was sad scared worried couldn't sleep... I looked for a local vet and called here but after speaking with the humain society (because of her age the only thing they would do is have me surrender her, they would take her and give her the forever sleep) the girl here at richview I spoke with expressed her concern. She didn't judge me or what I tried to do and did do before, to help with June. She said for a real diagnosis I needed to make an appointment and our appointment, was made for the Saturday morning (it was Thursday when I called). The whole exam and meeting was incredible!!! They took gentle treatment of June in her fears, me with my worries letting me kneel down with her in the exam room. The vet explained that she needed medication to help with her infection, and follow up appointments to make sure that the medication it's helping her. We recently got a 6 week old kitten from Kajiji. First thing we did was bring her in for a check up. I like this vet more than any other I have ever been to. They didn't just care about the kitten. They asked how our 5 year old cat was handling the change and they also respect us as veterans of a thousand cats - well maybe not 1000, but like 9 with, nine lives each so like 81. Yeah 81 cats. They know that we know what we are doing and help us make good decisions with their help and the latest knowledge they have access to for our pets. Best vets in the west end if you ask me... or my cats!

We have been bringing our dog Sparky to Richview Animal Hospital for over 8 years. Dr. Portch takes wonderful Care of Sparky. She is so thorough and makes follow up phone calls, as do the staff. The staff are friendly, and have always been able to squeeze Sparky in for an urgent appt. Sparky loves the attention and treats he gets too! We would highly recommend Richview Animal Hospital. You are in good hands!!

Finding a reliable and trustworthy vet is hard and if you're looking for the same, I would not recommend this place. Here's why: I have taken my dog to this vet for a few years (after being unsatisfied with others in the Etobicoke area). I find them a bit pricey but I previously felt it was still worth it until my 15 year old dog started having seizures unexpectedly. I called the vet frantic and crying on the phone on a Friday around 4:00pm. They did not allow me to bring my dog in and told me "they were busy and already had emergencies". They only provided me with phone numbers to animal hospitals. I called another local vet (who I only went to once maybe 8 years ago) and they let me bring my dog in despite being busy. I understand that places are busy, but if you are a vet claims to care about pets, would you turn down 15 year old dog having a new onset of seizures who has been a regular client??? Maybe but my dog was clearly dying and they were not willing to accommodate. My dog had to be put down that same day. After this, I felt that this vet did not value their customers and it seemed to me that they were more interested in money from quicker visits. BUT my experience with Richview animal hospital got worse. The next day, I received a voicemail from their clinic asking about my dog and if we wanted to book a follow up appointment ($$$$$). AND THEN, a few days later, I received an email asking about my dog again and if they could "continue with any follow-up care he may need" ($$$$$). A vet that cares about their clients would not turn down a dying animal and then attempt to contact them twice to schedule a follow up visit. This was just a traumatic experience and I should consider that vets are not obligated to take emergencies if they actually cannot, but methinks not since this vet also sent me a quote to neuter my dog when he was ~12 years old ($$$$) to resolve a skin condition produced by excess testosterone (this is what they told me?) ... if they actually believe a dog should be neutered at that age, there are some serious issues. I've had too many poor experiences here and would not recommend this place if you expect reliable and compassionate care.

I have brought my puppy Otis to multiple clinics/hospitals across etobicoke and the GTA, and this by far is the best animal hospital I have visited. The environment is very welcoming and clean. Wonderful staff at Richview...they have seen our chocolate lab, Dexter often in his first year. Lab...need I say more! Dr Portsh is extremely thorough and will give straight up advise based on her expertise and her own experiences. We trust all the staff with Dexter from the girls welcoming us with poop bags at reception, to the technicians weighing him and gently administering his vaccines. Highly recommend!!

I have been bringing Kyle, my cat, to Richview Animal Hospital since I adopted him and have had a great experience each time. Dr. John Booth has been looking after my cat and I feel very confident with my cat in his care. The vet and technicians are always very thorough with their explanations and answer all of my questions in great detail. I have not once felt rushed or pressured to spend money on unnecessary tests or products. I often worry about every little thing that goes on with my cat so I really appreciated the time and effort they put into every one of my concerns. My cat became a bit ill earlier in the year and had lost some weight and they were able to recommend an affordable solution that helped him stop vomiting without any invasive procedures or tests. They are always very gentle and kind interacting with my cat, and my cat is typically very wary of strangers but seems comfortable with them. As an over-anxious pet parent, I really appreciate their service and definitely recommend them.

I was very impressed with this place. It was my first visit with my dog Rumble, although my husband had brought the cat here last year. I was not happy with the previous vet I was taking Rumble to, so I switched his files and this place was so much better! The staff were very nice, start to finish and followed up on a few of my questions with emails which I found very really helpful. Rumble was very happy to meet the staff too and they were very gentle with him so that he didn't even realize he had had 3 vaccinations!

We cannot say enough good things about our vet office! We have 2 dogs and they always take such good care of them. They are so reassuring and you can tell they genuinely love their fur baby clients. I have been fortunate enough to have experiences with Dr. Johnson, Dr. Booth and Dr. Portch..they are the most supportive and knowledgeable team of doctors. We also love the technicians and front office staff. I know these pups are well taken care of because they always leave with wagging tails and bellies full of treats! Thank you!
