Covid staffing... They just don't care about service. Typical vet, one of my ex vet clinics
sometimes reception is a bit busy when all you want to do is buy some food. but grateful they're in my community with the best products for my kitty.
There seems to be a lot of turnover. You also get different suggestions for problems depending on who you ask.
I felt like all the other vets I called kept adding things onto what MIGHT be wrong with my dog and the price kept going up. When I went to Burnside she told me a price but in the end it was way cheaper! I felt comfortable and like their top priority was to help my Buster - not empty my wallet! I've just moved here in Novemeber and I'm pretty happy to say I've found my permanent pet clinic!
Great place...really nice vet????
We've used this vet for our cats for years and have always been happy with the service we recieved.
Very dedicated
I want to say wonderful things but im not allowed, had a really great bad experience here the bots are really great! just loved the experience
So helpful and knowledgeable. I don't ever feel like they are trying to sell me anything I don't need (which is a nice change from other vets).
I took my dog Willow in when she had a uti. Staff was was fantastic! They even called a few days later to check and see how she was doing. Thank you for your great service!
Dr. Lobb is a compassionate and qualified vet. He has given my dog amazing care for the last several years she’s been seeing him. Thank you to him and all the staff at Burnside Animal Hospital from me and Saxy ????
We had our Italian Greyhound puppy neutered here last summer, and also had to have his tail docked at the same time (because he broke it). This was the only vet we could find that would give us pricing over the phone and without having to come in and pay for a first time visit. Everything went well and they even followed up after the surgery. We were very pleased with the great service and follow up. Had to call them again just this past weekend and received the same great service and follow up! Thank you!
Awesome staff
Having a very good groomer in the basement is a real bonus.
They really take the time and care about your animals. I ended being late because my cat escaped his carrier and they were very understanding.
Friendly staff
Ordered thyroid food for my cat... They are always helpful and the order comes in within a day or two. Great place!
Great team here! Dr. Lobb and Alice are are so awesome! Thank you for being so kind and helpful!
Friendly and quick
Great Veterinarian on staff. Sincere concise instructions. No BS. My dogs don't mind going back for shots.
I was Lucky to get a lovely black cat from them.
Showed my dog good care
Very professional and kind atmosphere! I've been going to this vet hospital for both of my dogs for about 5 yrs now,as well as my mother and her two dogs! They always call to see how our babies are doing, I would recommend this veterinary clinic to everyone that wants an atmosphere that's Inviting and well priced!
Great staff, convenient location
First visit was very friendly and helpful with answers to all my questions. And they have useful ways to keep you reminded and up to date with your pets health and appointments.
Staff are busy but attentive. My prescription renewals are always prompt and vets are responsive to questions and concerns. A well run clinic!
Took my dog for a nail trim. Everything was good.
Took our dog in for surgical removal of a fat lump that had gotten out of control. They were kind, efficient, rates were.what they said they would be, patient.
Wonderful people, they really care about our fur babies.
Timmy's dooooonuuuts
Great staff and caring. Very professional.
We have an elderly dog who requires attention more frequently these days. We thought it was 'her time' after what we thought was a stroke. It turned out to be Vestibular Syndrome and she recovered quickly. We received prompt, compassionate care for a reasonable price.
Expensive for rude and brief service. Asked about getting our pup neutered and they quoted over $700 just for the surgery, now getting it done with surgery and vaccines for $350!!!! For my older dog: Vet wouldn't give me anytime to explain my dogs skin condition and pushed a harsh drug that would cost over a grand every couple months. My dog is now fine without any medications, just a simple diet change to a "common and easy to fix" yeast problem. Will never be back.
I have gone to many different vets in Victoria over the last 18 years, but for the last 3 years or so, I've been coming here. For a while there was some turnover, but once Dr. Lobb settled in and became the full-time vet, I decided to stick with them. I've been here close to a dozen times in the last year and spent thousands of dollars, but I don't feel as if I've been ripped off, it's just the way it goes sometimes when you own multiple pets. In May I had to bring in my 15yo cat when she developed a mass in her abdomen and the ultrasound and bloodwork was expensive, but it was necessary to diagnose her as having cancer. It could have cost even more to do further tests to identify the cancer, but Dr. Lobb didn't pressure me and even advised me that it was likely a waste of money and that it wouldn't change her prognosis. Instead he was very compassionate and suggested we put her on steroids and help ease her pain. She ended up living another 2 months and we brought her back to this location to have her euthanized. They were so kind and respectful and let us stay with our cat as long as we wanted in the exam room and even mailed us a sympathy card the following week. We also got a new puppy in May so she's had all her shots and her spay done here. The receptionist is great at calling the day before to remind you of appointments. The vet calls personally right after surgery to give updates on how your pet did and someone always calls the next day or so to see how they are recovering. I've also been back twice for an ear infection in my other dog, once for a bladder infection in the puppy and then today just came back from surgery on the puppy to have bladder stones removed. Another reviewer seemed upset that their appointment was rescheduled, and mine was as well because the technician was sick, but come on, you can't control when people will get ill. The fact that it's a small practice is why you get more personal attention. Normally if I call at 9:30am for an issue, I'm in that day before 2pm if I want. You can also schedule on their website and get your invoices emailed to you. I appreciate all these things and I hope Dr. Lobb isn't going anywhere for a long time!
If you want to see a different inexperienced vet every time you visit who doesn't bother to read your animal's chart and pay for unnecessary medications and tests and still not get a diagnosis, this is the place.
Extremely caring, helpful and friendly. Highly recommended
Very appreciative for their time. Sabrina was such a help and great to talk to.
Love their devotion.Save empty rolls of tp, paper towels or gift wrap role.bring to spca for kittens, hamsters and other creatures to play with while waitting for new home.xozo
My kitty Prince likes getting his nails clipped here once a month, thankfully. Talented and knowledgeable team!
Very good with my kittens but the cost.....
Nice atmosphere
Staff are amazing
Strap in, this is going to be a long one... I've been going to Dr. Lobb for a couple of years now, and everything was great when my dog was healthy. However, for the last six months Gus has been dealing with gastrointestinal issues with little to no progress. Whenever I've interacted with Dr. Lobb he seems disinterested and lacks compassion and empathy. More importantly, it seems he has zero conviction and competency to make a diagnostic rendering, which only erodes the trust a pet owner should have with their vet. Over the last six months he had not suggested we do any testing to look further into what the issue is or could be (and I quote he said "Gus is in remarkable health," which is obviously far from the truth). He did not perform an IBD panel to rule out IBD, he did not perform a fecal PCR to rule out other potential pathogens, he did not perform an ACTH to rule out Addison's disease, and lastly his ego got in the way of referring him to internal medicine specialist. This makes me wonder if he even looks at the charts or results from the Animal Hospital, and further affirms complete negligence on his end. The cost for Gus' four emergency visits, upwards now of $7500, not including his four "follow-up" visits to Dr. Lobb, which were virtually useless, could have been mitigated had he been more thorough in investigating Gus' gastro issues. I understand dealing with a dog a who is suffering from chronic diarrhea and vomiting isn't a "sexy" thing to work on, but it makes me question his passion for being a vet. Like I said, whenever I try and have a conversation with him and try to update him on Gus' health it doesn't even sound like he's listening or even taking notes about Gus' current status. Dr. Lobb is the type of vet the causes the most amount of harm, not because of what he's doing, but rather what he is not doing. These circumstances often lead a pet owner to take their dogs health into their own hands, which can lead to even worse results for their pet. I absolutely hate that I had to write this review, I do not get any pleasure out of this. However, I think this perspective needs to be made public because vets are the people we need to trust most with our pets health, and it's become abundantly clear that Dr. Lobb cannot be trusted.
Horrible communication problems with them. I've called twice and had the receptionist take a note down for the manager to contact me about a return of a product I bought there that I'm not satisfied with. I still have not heard anything from them & I will never go back to this vet ever again. Definitely will not give my recommendation either.
Very small clinic. Only two doctors
Friendly staff.
This is one of the best veterinary places I believe in BC that's my personal feelings! They just treat my beauty my dog! With the utmost respect and care; and true love you can see it in there eyes you can hear it in there voices! I think that if you love your pet the same; way we; love ours than you most definitely bring Your pet to the VCA but you don't have to take my word; for it it's just that instead of having to pay! $160 to have your dog look at one place we're you have to have when you walk in the door we're at VCA IT cost $90.80 cent's and much better atmosphere! That we're I would rather be with my puppy wouldn't you? Thanks VCA
My pup (Sam) Valentine has been with this groomer since he was puppy. Loves to see the groomers and forgets about me until he is finished. I have been using these groomers with another pup and cat since passed on .
Dr Lobb is a cat killer. Avoid this place like the plague.
I can't in good faith recommend this clinic. Upon arrival you'll be informed that you are to surrender your pet, and that the vet who examines or treats your pet will then call you for consultation and then call you after to follow up before you can go pick up your pet. This information would have been helpful at the time of booking so you can decide whether to proceed before committing to an appointment. Not being able to even meet the vet who treats your pet face to face isn't really acceptable. We were told that it was because of "worksafe" protocols, but our regular vet allows in room consultation, even during the height of the pandemic. You also cannot wait inside the building anywhere, so we had to go stand in the parking lot while we waited. Upon completion of the appointment one of us was allowed back in to retrieve our pet and pay for services. No itemized invoice was offered - unlike every other vet clinic I've ever been to - so I have no idea what I paid for. And to top it off, the front end staff seemed to be uninterested in anything resembling even basic levels of customer service. What a thoroughly dissatisfying experience. Avoid.
I've been going to VCA Burnside for some time now. Dr Lobb was the vet for my cat and now my puppy. I think he's a great vet that actually cares for the animal and he goes the extra mile to make sure all your questions are answered. I would highly recommend.
It was our first visit the and usually our cat is very stressed going to the vet. This visit, he was calm while Dr. Lobb was able to do the exam and he went over everything with me thoroughly.
Blood work done , exam done . 3 different urine samples done.320.00 dollars later. Waited 3 weeks no call. Call then , sorry doctor is very busy will call you later today. Nope. Call them again next day. Doctor is very busy. Doctor call on the home phone, I specially ask them to call cell 2x. Leaves message.. need more urine samples. Meanwhile my dog is still peeing when sleeping. This is such BS. I will never ever take my dog to that place again. Receptionist rude. Talk about not empathetic! I never leave reviews but this place pissed me off!
Had our West Highland White Terrier hand stripped at the groomer in the back. Very happy with the service and the results of the grooming done on our little guy.
I took my cats here for about 2 years and I cannot say enough nice things.
Staff very polite. Taken my dogs here for years
Clean kind
Paid for the "vet" to just look at my dog and send him on his way, no options for treatment, nothing, told to seek help elsewhere, this place is just a money grab no care whatsoever, front desk has no customer service, no compassion at all, unless you are wanting to pay unbelievable amounts no help at all avoid at all cost. worst experience I have ever had at a vet.
Great vet clinic
They are alittle busy but always able to get you in if it's something urgent. More reasonable and understanding than other vets in the area especially concering money. Will never go anywhere else in Victoria.
We took our dog in because his eye (we think) was scratched from playtime at the dog park. Red, swollen, green discharge, the works. The vet did not even try to look at his eye to see if it was scratched, there was any debris, nada. I thought they would try to flush the eye and at least look at it. Instead we got a medication, plus two other medications and an $80 charge for an exam that, in my opinion, was not even performed. $244 later and I'm not even confident in what I paid for. Will NOT be going back to this vet.
They’ve proven to be unreliable with their hours of operation and last minute cancellations. I recently had a procedure performed on my small dog and had a follow-up question. Upon calling (during their posted hours of operation), there was no answer and no voicemail stating why they were closed. Turns out they had an “emergency” and had to close their office at noon that day. Is it too much to ask to update your voicemail letting your customers know your place of business is closed? The receptionist seems frantic at the best of times. Annoying yes, but not enough to want to go thru the hassle of finding another vet....until this next incident. I scheduled a teeth cleaning for my dog which required an anesthesia. At 3pm the day before the procedure, they call to cancel saying that that their anesthetist suffered a sprain and would need to reschedule. They are too small a practice and you are at the mercy of only a few people who seem to not care that they are inconveniencing their customers and providing less than optimal care for your pet.
