I’m so happy I spayed my 2 year old blue heeler at this clinic. The staff took such good care of her!

Friendly and caring staff. They offer both alternative and conventional care and take the time to really understand your pets' needs.

Always accommodating as possible. Very attentive mostly.

I would give more stars if I could! The staff here are wonderful. The front desk is warm and knows us and all our animals by name when we come in. They were all so compassionate when it came to helping my dog cross the rainbow bridge and made it such a beautiful process. We also have cats who they take such good care of, and go the extra mile. We once had to leave our cat there for observation and the vet took time to let her out of the cage during her lunch break. I can't express how wonderful this place is.

Good, vets, the service is better.

Hands down – the best vet we had so far! Dr. Chapman probably saved our dog’s life (she has Addison’s disease, and it was a difficult diagnosis). I do not often write reviews… but… Kindred Spirits is doing a truly great job

Melissa Bachynski

Fabulous clinic with extremely caring vets and staff. My animals are always calmer at Kindred as it doesn’t feel like a cold clinic. All the vets listen carefully and respect my opinion. They always consider a holistic approach, but also know when more aggressive intervention is needed.

My sweet dog Fergus was a patient at Kindred Spirits for over 10 years. Both Dr. Allyson Belyea and Dr. Claudia Campbell are smart, caring and compassionate vets. In fact the entire Kindred team from the front desk to the technicians in the back room are all wonderful and went out of their way to make my dog feel comfortable even in his final hours. Thank you Kindred Spirits!!

I've been bringing my pets here for years. I don't think it's possible to have a better team of caring vets. They've not even been able to hear two of my cats' heartbeat because they won't stop purring!! ♥️????♥️

A new Vet has just arrived from Calgary and she's fabulous! Chester loved her. Very engaged, gentle and caring. Might just be switching the the other two pups over from McKenzie. Darned if I can remember her name though ????

I recently switched to Kindred Spirits after realising they were just around the corner from my home, and, so far, I've been nothing but impressed. Initially, I brought my cat (just over a yr old) here for a nail trim, because she's something of a little spitfire, and I can't do this on my own. The job required two technicians.. but they bore her hissing, growling, squirming, and general antics with good grace, while remaining absolutely gentle. My second visit was just a few days later, because my little furred demon suddenly began vomiting for no apparent reason. Dr. Stancill ( I believe this is the vet we saw) was great, and one thing I really appreciated was her explanation that X-rays would only reveal a metallic obstruction, and that a serious obstruction would not respond to medication. This being the case, in order to detect what was going on, we tried anti-nausea meds, to which my cat instantly responded; even after the supply of pills was finished, the vomiting did not return. I was very grateful for Dr. Stancill's honesty, and reluctance to immediately recommend expensive, invasive procedures. Also, aside from the jab she received, my cat really seemed to warm up to Dr. Stancill.. which means a lot, because while she's a sweet cat (outside of getting her nails trimmed), she's quite reserved, and treats strangers with caution. Further, because this clinic is situated in a beautiful heritage home, with plenty of natural light and attractive furnishings, it does not feel like the stereotypical, sterile, impersonal animal clinic... This makes a world of difference, and amplifies the caring atmosphere.

I've heard totally wonderful things about Kindred Spirits for years. I'm getting my ducks in a row to put in an application to finally adopt a dog of my own and wanted to have a vet set up in advance. I called in to see if they were taking new patients and Tara chatted with me and answered all of my weird/dumb questions happily and gave me lots of helpful info. You guys are the best.

Been to 6 different vets regarding my shiba's chronic ear infections. First one to finally sit down with me and discuss health, underlying causes, and strategies, not just put antibiotics in the ear and be at the vet every few months. Thank you!!! Exactly what I was looking for, could not be more grateful.

I came in because Nietzsche had become suddenly ill, biting, not behaving like herself, shaking, and hiding in the corner. After three visits to Kindred Spirits they said, "they can not examine a biting dog," and were not kind to me when my little 5 lb. Maltese of 13 yrs. needed help. And so I took Nietzsche on the sea plane to see Dr. Clark in Vancouver (who was her old vet) and he knew immediately what was wrong with her. She had a mouth full of abscesses and was very ill and in pain. He removed 14 teeth and saved her life. Kindred Spirits' initial diagnosis was back pain. By the third visit they labeled my dog "too dangerous to treat," and me "too difficult to deal with." I would not recommend this vet, Nietzsche was a vulnerable 5 lbs, I was a very concerned owner, and in addition I have been a registered nurse for 20 yrs and have never experienced such uncompassionate care. -Janice Jensen

I had a new puppy exam scheduled a few months ago that I ended up cancelling due to poor customer service. I called in advance of the appointment to ask a few questions and was treated in an impolite manner that made me feel stupid for even asking the questions. I manage a small business in Victoria and understand the importance of a customers first impressions and if I could give a suggestion for the business it would be to train any staff who answer the phone to value the importance of this. I have since found a vet who welcomes questions and understands that a little customer service can go a long way.

Best Vets in town! Super friendly, caring, helpful and knowledgeable staff. If I could rate 6/5 ???? I would. Why? Because they try treat your dog like one of their own and you like family.

I chose Kindred Spirits 14 years ago when I got my puppy. Kiomi and I have always received the very nest of care from people who truly love and care for animals.

Attentive and open minded staff with a great bunch of technology behind them. They have Titers testing onsite, making it affordable to test your animal for antibodies before you haphazardly vaccinate. Also they were great in calming my nerves over the phone when my dog ate chocolate. Getting all the details and giving me directions. Totally recommend.

Will Reiher

A wonderful place with great doctors, friendly service and an excellent location.

This animal hospital is amazing. Have been taking my dog there for the past 6 years. They are kind, compassionate and take extremely good care of her. They don't recommend services I don't need, and I think the prices are incredibly fair, especially for Victoria. Have never had a single negative experience here. All of the doctors I've had appointments with have been SO NICE!

Geoff Rice

Great service and they really care for our pooch!

Dr. Chapman was the first doctor in years that I felt took the time to look at every lipoma that both of my dogs have and really examined each one. Really asked questions and also answered thoughtfully all of the questions that I had. Really amazing Doctor.

My wife and I take both of our dogs to the vet and have always had a very good experience with Dr.Chapman. We have a 15 year old pomeranian who had alopecia, dementia and was always very shaky. Dr.Chapman prescribed her herbs and her hair has grown back in bald spots. She is also less shaky and anxious. She did the neuter for our husky and the incision was almost completely healed by day two! We don't go to the vet often but know we are in great and caring hands when we do.

Claudia is an excellent vet.

Bailey the Wonderdog & Myk

Always good service and fair pricing. Not your typical vet maxing out your bill, refreshing! Not too excited about the long wait to get an appointment or having to wait outside before seeing the Doctor but with Sars-Cov-2 society has gone mad. Not their fault but did like it better before. Perfect receptionist, kind and compassionate, a keeper. Been a client since they opened and though the people change, the service is always first class. If you are new to Kindred Spirits fear not, you are in good hands. Bailey the Wonderdog concurs. Arf Arf

Doctor Campbell and the rest of the team here are amazing. They truly care, listen, and provide advice in a collaborative manner. My 17 year old cat has been to several vets in his life and we both couldn't be happier to have found Kindred Spirits.

Janice Williams

Kindred Spirits has been our family's vet for a few years now, we have been very happy with the care provided to our furry family member.

Amy Rutherford

An amazing team of knowledgeable, understanding, passionate and honest professionals. Kindred Spirits takes all things into consideration when caring for your pets; for example, if you have indoor only or elderly cats, they will not force (and charge for) unnecessary vaccinations suited to outdoor or younger cats. They've been so supportive to me and my cats for over a decade; I love them.

Isabelle LeRoy

So kind and helpful. All the staff are nice!

Doctor was efficient and knew how to handle an animal without them having them stressed. Wonderful.

I am blown away by the service we've received so far with the whole team. For a holistic approach which incorporates TCM, I recommend Corrine, who is kind, patient and thorough.

my dog is been diagnosed with lymphoma. a steroid is been prescribed by a conventional vet . I wanted to take a holistic approach to the cancer so I made an appointment. unfortunately this vet is very busy and I could not get one untill 3 weeks . so I asked if the doctor would spare 5 min on a call to advise me if I should in fact use the steroid . they refuse to help me out .

Unfortunately, my dog suffered a herniated disc in her back - which cut off her ability to feel her hind legs (falling all over the place)... 3 weeks I spent with this clinic- 3 different vets looking at her ($$$$$). One vet had no idea and started chiro on her back (making her injury worse). Another vet told me “well the good news is there’s nothing you can do to make it worse” (which led me to believe it was nothing serious - and she worsened again after this). Third vet admitted they didn’t know what it was and that I should see a neurologist specialist in Vancouver. Once I got to Vancouver- they told me what had happened. My dog had a serious injury that should have been addressed with surgery immediately. Due to kindred spirits poor advice - we waited THREE WEEKS, before she finally had surgery. This unnecessary delay- meant that my dog lost a significant chance to recover - she now can barely walk by herself- an outcome that would have been drastically different had the vets at kindred spirits been able to diagnose properly and in a timely matter. I am heartbroken to say the least. Be careful if you take your pet here- always get a second opinion.

Putting down a pet is never easy but Kindred Spirits was truly amazing during the process. Dr. Arthur was unbelievably compassionate and sweet and their staff was equally as great. They left me with a cute keepsake of my cat's paw print as well as a lovely card when I came to pick up his ashes. It was icing on the cake in regards to them showing how much they care.

I had a very unpleasant experience one of the receptionists at this clinic. My dog and I were new to the clinic. I had taken him there because he is elderly and had been suffering from diarrhea for four months and which other vets had been unable to treat. Shortly after my second appointment I phoned, very concerned because my little dog was having ongoing episodes of diarrhea. With each episode he would cry out in pain. After calling the vet and having some back and forth conversations with reception staff I was told by one receptionist that, the clinic was "in over it's head" when it came to the treatment of my dog and that they weren't able to treat his chronic diarrhea; "there's nothing we can do". I was then told to take my dog to Central Vet to see if they could help him. The next week I called to rebook an appointment and to get a refill of his medication. The same receptionist, as I later discovered, then made up some medical information about why one prescription would not be refilled and stated again that there was nothing the clinic could do to help my little dog. It was only when, later in the day, I was able to speak to a veterinarian that the confusion and ill will this receptionist had created was set aside. It appears that this receptionist was speaking out on her own and without the authority or knowledge of the veterinarians. She had, for some unknown reason, thought herself qualified enough to give me medical information and to deliver a prognosis on my dogs health without being properly informed. This woman also purported to set out a formal position of the clinic when she told me the clinic did have the necessary resources to treat chronic diarrhea. I hope that by making this post and speaking with one of their veterinarians the clinic can better manage this employee. She had me in tears a number of times and, since she knew how concerned I was about my frail little dog, her behavior seems wantonly cruel. I still hold this clinic in high regard but, in my opinion, the owners need to establish firm rules to guide this receptionist's behavior.

I decided to try Kindred Spirits based on the positive reviews I have read. My first experience with my 3 m. old puppy was positive; she was welcomed with lots of treats and warm attention. On the 4 month booster visit, my experience was unexpectedly negative. On arrival, my puppy was clearly excited to be there but unfortunately there was only one staff member who did not make any effort to be welcoming. I did not bring my treat supply this time as I thought she would be given lots by the staff. During my 15min. of waiting, my puppy received no attention or treats ????. Matters worsened when I clarified with the receptionist the services my puppy would receive today. I was told I must pay for another $86. full examination (last done 1 month ago) in order for my puppy to receive her booster vaccine. I questioned why a full exam was necessary and after the receptionist checked with the vet in the back area, I was told this is how we do things. So I left and will not come back. I will find another veterinary practice to care for my puppy...one that is ethical/doesn't insist on charging for unneeded and unwanted services...and one that puts their client's first. I have a healthcare background and know that in human medicine, a GP in this situation would only be able to bill for a routine visit or partial exam, not a full exam. That's because it isnt justified.

This place is the best, they treat my doggie as though he was one of their own pets. Always friendly and helpful, and even stayed late one evening to help when my pooch got sick. Cant say enough good things about this place.

I've been happy with Kindred Spirits in my time there. Professional staff, vets that seem to care, no problems getting follow-up information by phone, and I've never felt rushed out. Recommended!

AWFUL AND UNCARING ..I waited six weeks to get to see Dr Chapman for my dog who had knee problems and needed therapeutic acupuncture very much. After I finally got in, we saw her fir only two visits and she went away on holiday for a month. My dog desperately needed an ongoing therapeutic regime and she knew this. I waited and finally phoned to resume ongoing treatment when she gt back and I was told I would have to wait another month. My dog went without treatment for three months and was in pain.As if that was not enough, this clinic does not take cash.I pay in cash, They will make you stand outside the building and give them exact change. When I complained about this and about no one contacting me for ongoing therapy I was told I should seek another vet. My dog now has been in pain for five months with no treatment because I trusted this vet. BIG MISTAKE. And be sure to bring exact change or forget about getting service,The dogs well being was their last consideration and I spent almost $1000 for two visits and meds and was treated like garbage..

Kitty was fixed at Kindred Spirits about 6 weeks ago and every day has been a good day. For him at least lol. Very friendly staff, its a great place for your pet.

I was told that they are not accepting new clients at this time. Yet, the previous reviewer said it was her 'first' time and her post was made 2 weeks ago. Also, if you're not accepting new clients then put that on your website. Don't waste people's time, especially if they need someone's help.
