The staff at the Downtown Veterinary Clinic are very good with my dog! He is always excited to go in and they treat him like a long time friend. They don’t try to do unnecessary sales pitches and will comfort you when your dog decides to fight a raccoon. I have confidence my dog is well looked after and am grateful for the good care!

Dr. Degi and the entire staff at Downtown Veterinary Clinic are the best! Having moved from Texas a year ago with my 4 animal babies (2 poodles and 2 kitties), I spent a great deal of time searching for the “right” veterinary care for my very spoiled and high maintenance pet family. My poodles always seem to be getting into trouble, and I first met Dr. Degi when Maverick (my youngest poodle) swallowed something (a toy) while I was traveling and needed a few days of care immediately. Downtown Veterinary took excellent care of Maverick and he recovered completely! I am confident that all of my animal babies receive the best care from Downtown Veterinary Clinic! The clinic is state of the art, clean, friendly and everyone is professional and quick to respond. All of my animals love going to “visit”!

Our dog had been misdiagnosed at another clinic and when we saw Dr. Hall she knew right away what was wrong with him. We were definitely impressed with her level of knowledge. Highly recommend her. We also never felt rushed and felt like they always took the time to explain everything.

The staff is quite friendly but the poor treatment we received from Dr. Hall made me decide to go elsewhere. I took my dog there several times over a two-year period for a recurring ear infection. Received the exact same medication every time, even though i repeatedly asked if we could try something different. Finally went to Juan de Fuca vet clinic where the vet inserted gel into the dogs ear and the infection has not reoccurred for about a year. Did go back to see Dr. Hall for vaccinations and told Her about this. She responded “oh we could have done that”. Also, I don’t know if she’s afraid of big dogs, but her manner is very standoffish. When most vets and her own staff would offer treats by hand, she just dropped a handful on the floor of the exam room. That will be my last visit.

I have been in many times with both my dog and my cat and the staff are always so pleasant and kind, and have been able to resolve complicated health issues that other places overlooked. They also send follow-up and reminder emails to make sure everyone is doing well and that medication is never missed. We have had two excellent experiences so far with this vet. The first time was a drop in to pick up fortiflora- fast and friendly transaction. The second time was a scheduled appointment for our dog with a red swollen/shut eye. The receptionist was friendly during check in. Dr. Katie was absolutely amazing! She was so good with our dog, and really took the time to ask us questions to assess the scenario. She was friendly and very knowledgeable, and explained everything she was doing through every stage. She also took the time to go through the price of an extra eye test, which we appreciated. All in all, we had an amazing experience during a stressful/sad time. Highly recommend, they were great!

This is a long overdue review! My Pablo who is a 3lbs tea cup chihuahua has been taken care of by Dr. Degi and his team for about 7 years. The care, attention, dedication and professionalism of this clinic and it’s members is outstanding. I am so appreciative of their flexibility with my last minute request and urgencies. My little guy has also have dental surgeries with Dr. Degi and him being a high risk dog; due to his congestive heart desease, it requires double the care and attention. I would never be able to trust another vet or clinic to take care of him. I know with certainty that he is in the best hands and care possible and this means the world to me. I highly recommend Downtown veterinary clinic for all and any of your beloved pet’s needs. 10 stars rating if these were available ????. Every time I call in for an appointment I can book in quickly. They offer email reminders on keeping your pet up to date on vaccinations. And best of all prices are definitely better than other vets that I have used in Victoria.

Awesome quality service for a great value. The docs are pragmatic, the vet techs and front desk are always friendly and very helpful. I find that they're very well priced for a downtown/metropolitan vet clinic. Stay independent! One thing to be aware of if you drive is that the parking lot is pretty tight. If you can park on the street outside and walk over, you might have less of an issue. But it's free parking downtown so it's still not really that bad.

Doctors are careless. I took my cat there for a heal exams and paid over 100$ and the doctor spend not longer then 5 minutes to check on my pet, he didn’t even check his eyes and his teeth. Speechless ????????

After being pretty reserved and limping through the weekend I decided to take my dog to the vet. Although we have a vet a ways away from where we live I called around to find an open appointment anywhere on Monday as I just wanted my dog looked at. The care my boy Jake received here was top notch, and we ended up returning a few days later due to allergies/skin problems the dog has had his whole 5 year life. And now finally have a care plan other than thanks for the money, buy my pet food. After the second visit I asked them if they could be my dogs primary vet. There check in fee is reasonable, all costs have been reasonable, the environment is clean, the staff is friendly and the Dr. cares about my dog and goes over everything clearly. I will bring all future pets here, and highly recommend this place to anyone who needs a vet , or just doesn't think their current practice is working.

Im giving it 1 Star because I felt annoyed by the way they handled my puppys situation. They wanted to charge me for random fees that I wasnt told about in the room. I just felt they were very overpriced and sneaky with the way they charged me. Felt better off going to a different vet! A lot cheaper and better quality of care :)

I had a concern about my dog and called to book in an appointment. While the clinic was booking well into late September / early October (to be expected, given the pandemic) the technician on the phone was very knowledgeable and advised me to check around to get my pup seen sooner. She was perfectly professional, compassionate, and genuinely concerned about my dog's well being. While I didn't end up booking with Downtown Veterinary, if the level of service I recieved through a short phone call is any indication of the overall service and care provided here, I would recommend this clinic to anyone.

She had reviewed my dog’s files before I arrived and fully understood the situation but allowed me to further express my concerns. She was patient with my dog (and me ????) and very thoroughly examined him. It’s obvious she knows her stuff! She’s clearly very competent and experienced. I really love Downtown Veternary Clinic and I recommend it to all pet owners. Dr. Degi and his staff are the most caring of all the Veterinary Clinics I have ever been to. I have 2 dogs, one of them have a dislocated knee and after taking h...im to a Veterinarian which didn't treat him very gentle he became scared and was shaking every time I had to take him to the Clinic. We recently moved to Victoria and a friend recommended us The Downtown Veterinary Clinic. The first time I took him there he was calm, he wasn't scared any more and both of my dogs love Dr Degi and his Saff because they are very gentle . You can really feel that these people have a real passion for animals and for the job they are doing. I don't have enough words to thank them for the way they treat my dogs.

I never experienced any issues bringing my cat in last minute if I had to, and I felt comfortable leaving my cat with them for as long as needed. I was in the clinic quite frequently caring for a cat, who fell in love with Dr. Degi and his staff. We phoned today to make an appointment for our 17 year old dog because she hasn’t eaten for three days nor has she wanted to drink. She can’t stand very long and sleeps most of the day. The clinic would not see our little dog today and said to wait!! We’ve been going to Downtown Vet clinic for many years. We were always looked after so well by Dr Levi but he has retired. The clinic is not the same. The Clinic has not shown any compassion for our sweet little dog, nor for us. We are so disappointed and sad.

We went to Downtown Vet due to the location convenience and got assigned Dr. Hall for our pets. We always left feeling like our questions were vaguely answered and our concerns were always dismissed. The final straw was when Dr. Hall’s neglect almost led to our cats death. Thank goodness we went to a different vet clinic for a second opinion. This vet did a proper, thorough exam and immediately booked us in to a see a specialist in Vancouver the next morning. Dr. Hall’s “exams” were always careless and quick and everything was always “fine”. Please stay away if you love your animals.

I booked my dog less than a month ago to this clinic which included an initial meeting and examination. Thinking I was now a client and subsequent visits would result in being charged for what is required, vaccination etc.. I called to make another booking for kennel cough but was told there would be an $86 health exam required along with the vaccination. I understand if there is a governing body setting rules that all clinics must abide by but this is entirely up to the clinic. Charge a very small follow up fee and you would retain clients, not have reviews like this and make more money in the long run retaining clients and potentially for a lifetime. Transparency upon forst visits would also help clients understand the future expenses and individual clinics fee's. I wish I had known this as I would not have booked or had a refund of my initial visit in hindsight. For reasons like this and mistrust why not put forward a set of governing rules so clients feel respected, fairly treated and attempt to restore the veterinarian industry as a whole. This charge is a money grab.

Anytime we have brought in either of our two dogs for checks they always ask in about the other. When our puppy has gone home after a vet appointment because of sick rather than checks they call a few days later to check in on him. The service is amazing.

Dr. Degi is an incredible doctor. It's not surprising that his staff is also top-notch. If he wants to order blood and / or other tests for your pet - please know he does not do it lightly. Follow his advice. He worked closely with us when our cat had an acute attack of pancreatitis; our kitty would have died without his guidance. Dr. Degi and I communicated almost daily to discuss kitty's status and what to do, and he would answer questions and listen to what I had to say. Weeks after the crisis, I received an email from Dr. Degi asking how kitty was doing - talk about follow-up! I sent a happy report back to him. We also have a semi-feral cat who loves our daughter, but absolutely hates all other humans and cats. She has a mean streak and will lash out with her claws and teeth if we try to pet her, or even if we just walk by. I told Dr. Degi, "You get 2 minutes with her, at most, then she will start hissing and get violent" because this is what she's done with 2 vets before him. Dr. Degi spoke to her and stroked her, and she changed into this calm sweet cat who was rubbing all over him. She didn't want to leave him. Now she loves our daughter *and* Dr. Degi (but that's it). I also appreciate that testing is done right there, at the office. It is difficult to pack up and go to yet another hospital / doctor to have x-rays or urine samples taken. One office visit here and it's all taken care of. Dr. Degi is a caring, wonderful doctor for your furry family members. It took me 12 years living here to find such a great vet. I wish all the cats in my life had had such great medical care.
