Every pet and person deserves equal care and if that is not the standard, then I'll be finding a new vet from here on out and will no longer be using your clinic as my go to reference. Brought my dog as a walk-in and they were very quick to get us in despite being busy! The staff were all very kind and polite!

Everything that your hospital does is with the utmost care and consideration. My cats have always been well cared for. If I could give this 0 stars I would. Absolutely horrible experience brought in my near unconscious dog but because I didn’t have any money until Friday and told them that I would 100% make the payment Friday and that they could keep her until then, but they brought my limp dog back and told me they couldn’t do anything without payment. I also heard that it was up to the doctors discretion whether they help the puppy with no money or not. Absolutely inhumane and I could not believe you guys. That is mental. I hope whichever doctor this is, is choosing this career because they love it not in it for the money, but unfortunately it looks otherwise. I took her to a spruce grove vet and they told me “absolutely bring her in and we can work out a payment plan.” You guys are mental. Do better.

Had to take my service dog in training here due to an emergency on a Sunday morning. No vets in my area are open on weekends. I called and they said i could bring him right away. He was puking blood and after bloodwork and an exam we found he probably picked up an infection from the pet store i took him to a few days earlier. He was put on 4 medications and is now doing much better and is slowly transitioning back to his normal food. The emergency bill didn’t completely break my bank either. Most weekend vets want 150-200$ for emerg visits here it was 99$. Being on disability this helped so much. The staff were amazing with my sick boy and with me being nervous. They were nice, friendly and even helped calm me when they told me he was sicker than I originally thought. Thank u Edmonton West fam for taking care of my mans.

I live out of town but while looking at the clinic and what they provide their costs are very reasonable and fair. With that, friendly and competent I highly recommended this clinic!!

Used to be good when I could actually see Dr. Navjot Gosal. He's amazing but the new vets, management and reception all roll their eyes and glare and talk with such a disrespectful attitude. Their ear plucking is now $70 per dog when it used to be $20 per dog. It almost quadrupled in price over 2 years. What would have cost me $40 dollars is now costing me $140!! When I went to reception to ask about this, the girl with dark hair in braided pig tails glared at me, rolled her eyes and raised her voice to me saying "we didn't work here in 2019 so i don't know what the costs are" and I said I understand that but i would like to speak to someone to see if this infact the correct cost because this is costing me almost more than half of what it did to get my dogs teeth extracted. I feel terrible for Dr. Navjot Gosal. The people that are supposed to representing him are doing a poor job. I will not be back to this place and I do not recommend this place to anyone. Find a more mature and respectful place to take your pets they deserve kind people and pet owners don't deserve to be gouged and disrespected for asking a legitimate question...

What a wonderful Clinic! My dog had a horrible knee injury and he needed a TPLO surgery. I took him to other clinics and they were charging astronomical prices. My friends suggested this vet clinic, they offered me free consulting with veterinarian and he explained me the surgery in detail; and they cost me almost half. After the surgery, I received a call to ensure that my pooch was doing fine. He stayed there overnight on pain medication for no extra charge. I picked him up the next day, and the nurse went over the post operative instructions and medications with me. Now it has been 4 months and he is doing fine and running around like it never happened. I would strongly recommend this clinic to anybody out there!

My husband and I have been taking our new puppy here since we got him and couldn't be happier. We have gotten all our vaccinations, neutering and any other medical concern/problem appointments here. The place is clean, welcoming and the staff are all very friendly. We are particularly impressed by how throughout and caring the vets are here. You can tell that they really care about their furry patients and aren't just out to make a quick buck. They take the time to really explain what the problem is and help you weigh out your options. We have also never felt rushed during an appointment which I appreciate.

My dog Reeves has a serious heart problems. I ordered Benazepril; it's a special order, must be ordered in advance and prepaid, which I did. When a message came from the clinic that the order is ready, I called back to make sure Benazepril is ready for pick up as well as another medications. I was assured that my order is ready completely. It turned out the clinic didn't order Benazepril. Instead, they offered Fortecor which is twice as expensive as Benazepril. When I refused to buy the medicine for this price, the staff promised that Benazepril would be ready in 4 days, on Monday. I broke a leg, and it's very difficult for me to get to the clinic. But on Monday Benazepril wasn't ready. We have been clients of this clinic for several years. We have two elderly dogs 14 and 12 years old with different health problems; we have brought thousands of dollars to this clinic. And now they left our dog without a vital medicine. It's completely irresponsible!

Horrible experience. Had to euthanize our 18 year old cat. Staff were uncaring and cold. Given one amount over the phone and a different price in person. Demanded payment up front which we expected but the difference in prices in person versus the phone price was shocking. Rough with the cat before and after the procedure. Staff were loudly making jokes and laughing during an extremely sensitive and painful moment. Will not recommend or use them for anything again.

When my cat did some scrounging for food when he shouldn't have, we took him here to get him looked after. The staff was super friendly and provided all the information I needed. Although our kitty dislikes the vet very much due to past experiences elsewhere, they took care of him and provided me updates throughout the whole process. Really appreciate the 24/7 hours as well as it makes us feel more safe and secure that we can come here when we need to for any other emergencies.

Took my kitten here to get spayed, her shots for Rabies and PCR as well as microchipping. Loved that they're prices were upfront on their website so I knew there would be no suprises. It also allowed me to compare the cost with a vet clinic near me (also great but...) where they quoted about 1.5x the amount for her spaying surgery. This centre is actually quite far from me but I decided that overall, the cost-to-time ratio was worth it. Her surgery and 'recovery' period took about 4.5 hrs (dropped her off at 9 and picked her up at 1:30pm). Her surgerical site was tiny which was a relief. However, they forgot to provide me her cone which was also my oversite as I didn't look into her carrier before leaving. Luckily, I had purchased a cat recovery suit from amazon prior to her appointment (read reviews that suits are much more comfortable, also they look so cute) but wanted a cone just in-case. I gave them a call and they were speedy with my refund the next day! I also had a question regarding my kitten's recovery, gave them a call and the receptionist was prompt. Overall, I recommend this place.

All I can say is super awesome! My gsd was acting strange while up in Edmonton and I wanted him checked out. Walked in and was treated amazing from the start. Front staff super friendly and the vet gave him one of the most thorough exams I've ever seen done. We left happy and will definitely go back if up that way again. Thanks guys ????

Took my cat in with a head/facial abscess and they fixed him right up, from emergency walk-in all the way to follow up and meds. :) Reasonably priced, with GREAT service people. Unfortunately our little friend had passed away shortly after he arrived. The nurse showed compassion towards up well we went thru this hard process of saying goodbye. We were made to feel very welcomed and we could have our moments to ourselves. We it came to the billing she went above and beyond for us. She showed us the nearest cafe so we could wait for our paw prints. She also made sure we had all the information we needed and made the phone calls for us.

Last fall I was quoted by a vet for a complete tooth extraction for my cat. With the quote being WAY more than I could afford I had made the decision to put her down. She had a broken tooth and I was completely distraught. When I took her in to Edmonton West Animal Hospital they looked her over and quoted me at less than HALF of what the other vet had for a complete extraction. My girl was going to get another shot at life. As I myself needed dental surgery out of town, they kept her an extra night stay at no charge. Sadly, after 7 months, my 15 year old baby had stopped eating and was drastically losing weight. I again had to make the difficult decision to euthanize. That was two weeks ago. The staff were very comforting throughout the process. Giving me as much time as I needed with her, offering hugs and support. Today, I arrived home to find a sympathy card in my mailbox, personally signed by all the staff. As a pet owner of almost 40 years, I have never received such personal service from a vet clinic. I will be encouraging everyone to bring their pets here. They are in this business for you and your pets, not to gouge your pocketbook. Thank you Edmonton West, for giving me the extra time with my love bug, Karma.

The Vets at Edmonton West actually care about my dogs. They are kind and don't try to push unnecessary costs on me and they give me all my options and help guide me in the direction of the proper treatment plan. Also they listen... they don't try and rush you out and are always willing to answer questions. They will keep contact after the visit through emails and will taken the time to call and deliver rest results etc. They're knowledgeable and always willing to research and learn about something they may not see everyday. My rescue dog from Cuba had a tick-borne disease which had gone undetected for 4 years because the other vet that I took her to when she first got here failed to test her for it, unbeknownst to me. She got sick and Doctor Sharma discovered what was wrong with her and developed a treatment plan. She is almost 100% better today. The vet techs and staff are all Pleasant to deal with and knowledgeable as well. I really like that the Clinic is open seven days a week. Finally they are reasonable with their prices. My dogs get their teeth cleaned their every year because they are so reasonable. I've also been with friends and family member who have needed to let there pets go and the stuff and veterinarians have always been compassionate and kind and make that moment easier for all. I highly recommend Edmonton West Animal Hospital.

“Dr Karen” (at another clinic)called animal health services on me because I didn’t agree with her assessment. She charged me 92 bucks(465 total invoice) to call US poison control to see if the meds she wanted to give would adversely affect my dog after ingesting a weed gummy. After learning I wasn’t taking him to overnight emergency where they quoted a three day stay and up to 2000 dollar bill she hung up on me. Then she called my girlfriend and explained how my dog could die(putting my GF into tears). While I was waiting at another vet to diagnose my dog I was again interrogated by animal health services. The new and clearly competent vet (Dr Sharma) calmly assessed my dog and determined he is fine and should be back to normal by tonight.

When we lost our beloved 14 year old dog suddenly and had him cremated in early December, we paid and trusted the clinic to have a paw print made for us so we could make our daughter a necklace with his print. We received his ashes a few weeks after the euthanasia and were told the print was inside the bag. It wasn’t there. We called the clinic and the person who answered told us it takes about 6-8 weeks for the print. So we waited. When we called after this timeline, we were told that the print should’ve been with the ashes and told by the staff member they would look for it. My husband has called several times and every time has been told someone would call him back. They haven’t. Five months later, we still haven’t resolved the issue. We are truly heartbroken about the whole ordeal, but have accepted that we will never have the paw print. We requested to have the $50 back that we paid to have this print completed and the clinic has not followed through. This ordeal has made a stressful loss that much more stressful. Update: We appreciate the staff from the clinic following up with us after this review & handling our concerns in a kind, professional manner. Although we had some concerns following our dog’s passing, his vet and the staff were completely transparent, provided us with sound professional advice and treated our sweet boy with great compassion.

Visited tonight with my cat as a walk-in, and had a very good experience. All the staff we encountered were extremely kind and pleasant, and the wait was not too long even though we had no appointment. The vet was so gentle and thorough, and she was very upfront with the costs for different tests she recommended, which made us feel very comfortable. I felt the prices were quite reasonable as well, compared to other vets we have visited in the past. The hospital turned a stressful evening into one a little more calm, and we left feeling confident there was resolution to our cats health concern. I will definitely be visiting here in the future, with both my cats.

took my kittens in to get spayed and neutered, was really impressed that the appointment was made the next day and they said we could drop the cats off the day before since we couldn’t take them in the morning of the surgery. really hoped for good service. but then everything went south pretty much. we arrived on time for our appointment, waited 20 minutes after we called to check in for them to collect our animals, no big deal they were busy. then after they collected our animals the vet tech told us to wait there for extra paperwork and payment, so we stood there for 20 minutes while they brought out other animals, waited another 10 minutes, called again asking to pay, then still waited another half an hour. it shouldn’t take an hour for us to pay. the other technician came and helped after we physically had to approach them (even though they literally were looking at us and waved, including the tech that helped us), we told them we were waiting at this point an HOUR to JUST pay and apparently it’s because we went “to” our car and they got confused (we were standing OUTSIDE of for 45 minutes AND every other customer was waiting in their car?) then they admitted too that the they didn’t know what the other tech was doing. THEN we go to pick our kittens up after their surgery. we called 10 minutes before we got there since we had to wait an hour the day previously. nobody came out. waited another 10 minutes called again. waited 15 minutes and people had came AFTER US to get their dogs and left in half the time it took us to even get acknowledged by the staff which we had called and spoken to and this point 2 times. called AGAIN cause half an hour passed and we STILL DIDNT GET HELPED. then when we called they verified the car we were in. still waited another 15 minutes. called back AGAIN and said they were reconfirming again about our car. just bring us our cats and we’ll come and get them! we told you the car were in TWICE on the phone already and were STANDING OUTSIDE. so at that point we had called them AT LEAST 4-5 times and waited 45 minutes before we got acknowledged. i don’t know if it’s because they were busy, pure incompetence and miscommunication, or because we’re in our early 20’s so they feel like they can make us wait or because we brought cats or because we were sitting in our car. but every other customer was sitting in their car, much older, and had dogs and got helped in half the time. and when we got helped it literally took 5 minutes so it couldn’t have been the fact that our pets were more time consuming than others. we tried to be as patient as possible and we weren’t rude or mean if anything a little bit frustrated we had to wait almost an hour to pick up and drop off our cats when we could see people arriving after us and leaving before us with their animals. they were super polite but no organization or attention to detail or time management. don’t know if it’s because they’re just so busy or don’t communicate with eachother. they said that whoever picks up the phone takes care of it but then why did i see the same people helping everyone else that arrived after us. i honestly think they just felt like other things were a higher priority because it’s “easier” or “quicker” or “more fun” considering the tech that WAS originally helping us would’ve rather in-take dogs than finish with her customers. when it honestly should be first come first serve. i was scared to leave my cats here after this cause i felt like they wouldn’t get the attention they needed, they seemed fine when we picked them up. and they’re stitches look really good and they’re not in pain at all or anything. like i am really impressed with the work they did and the fact that they had free overnight kennel and food and water and everything was so amazing and nice! but the fact we needed to wait an hour to pay and an hour to pick up our cats is ridiculous especially when we can see other people coming and going.

The doctor we saw seemed knowledgeable, confident and was very friendly and respectful. Already set a follow-up for the cat; this will be our primary place, it looks like!

The wait times have been a little too long for my comfort but I like knowing that both humans and their pets are being taken care of without being rushed. UPDATE since this I wrote the 1st review I have had Sloane in for a serious sinus infection another clinic wrote off to allergies and Blaise for a severe intestinal infection from a bad bag of dog food that affected all 3...Dr. "L" & Dr. "P" were both awesome in treating them and getting to the cause of the problems...Dr. "L" in particular rocks it....

Every time I have brought either of my dogs to this clinic they have come home to me happy, healthy and well taken care of. Two times my pets have been misdiagnosed at another clinic for serious issues and Edmonton West Animal Hospital has saved the day... I should have known to just make the trip across the city to this clinic in the first place! The vets are extremely knowledgeable and the prices are reasonable. I have always been sent home with detailed aftercare instructions for my pets and they always follow up. The staff is super friendly and caring. It's always a gamble trusting someone else with your fur baby's life but I would, without a doubt, have full faith in this clinic to provide the best care possible for my pets anytime. It is no wonder they were awarded Top Choice!

Brought my first kitten here and have had nothing but good experiences. Girls at the front desk are always helpful and friendly, easy to talk to and ask questions. We've seen two different vets, and both have been great! First time we went, they trimmed our kitten's nails for free, which was super kind and very much appreciated (as anyone who's had a kitten would know how sharp they are!!). They always make sure to schedule any follow-up appointments with you as you leave, and send you emails or call you to remind you when shots are due. It's super helpful that they're open late hours and weekends, too. All of our appointments have been on Saturdays but surprisingly it has never been busy. Their prices were also the cheapest out of everywhere I had called before choosing them. Keep up the good work guys. :)

My dog had an injury with a stick and I was originally quoted around $2000 from our regular vet, and I had been referred to this clinic for a second opinion. The staff straightforward and honest about what was necessary for surgery and precaution. They weren't overly invested overall as the clinic focuses on volume to keep prices lower (as should be expected).. Spent only $400 for my large dog to go under, and to have the wound explored/cleaned. Thanks again for providing pet owners with peace of mind for a reasonable price!

My dog had his neutering done here. I was notified he had 3 baby teeth left before they went ahead with the extraction. 4th day post procedure, he is recovering well. There's also a follow up email to make sure he is okay. Will probably switch vets here. Can't beat the price and service.

We had our puppy got neutered just this Friday, November 26. All the staff were so accommodating and really nice. I felt so comfortable leaving my puppy under their care and they did not fail my expectation. My puppy was attended and treated very well. They even provided a follow-up email to know how my puppy was doing the next day of his surgery.

We had such a wonderful experience here! Our kitty had been to this vet with her previous owner, and we are so glad we chose to continue with her care here! The poor thing vomited a few times after licking most of her dewormer off her back, and the front end staff were so compassionate and kind when we phoned them multiple times to inquire about what to do. They made an early appointment for her the next day when we phoned in concerned and took great care and she is now feeling so much better! Can't say enough good things. We are so grateful for the kind and compassionate service offered here, not to mention the very affordable prices.

My dog got severe burns to his neck and the top of his head a few months back. I brought him in here to get looked at and for treatment. Well the 2 female technicians that looked after him shaving his neck, head and treating the wounds were the sò good. When I got him back it was so hard to look at the burns but he was so calm that it made me feel better. Then a week later or so, one of the technicians called me to see how he was doing and to bring him back in for a checkup if I felt the need to, which I didn't because by then he was basically finished healing already! Incredible!

Disappointed at the lab though, blood work done Wednesday morning and sent out before noon, results back late Friday but no call from the vet to discuss results. With the cost the lab and hospital charges, I think results and follow up should be much quicker. Would also like to see credentials of Vetrenarian posted in the exam rooms. I like to know where they trained and how long they have been practicing. **update** asked to see credentials and was referred to their website, no certificates posted there either, requested them a second time in writing from the vet that treated my dog, no reply. .. ????

The staff starting at reception through to the vet techs and veterinarians are so kind and helpful. We are dealing with a not so common condition Myasthenia Gravis. Dr. Bouclin has gone above and beyond for our girl. We were very blessed that a specialist happened to be in the clinic yesterday with a full schedule. Our girl needed to have a dual cavity ultrasound and I was dreading having to go to a different clinic where this particular ultrasound could be performed at a much highercost. Dr. Bouclin was able to get the specialist to take on another patient, our girl so we could rule out tumors, masses and condition of her organs. Dr. Bouclin took the time to call last night to see how our dog was doing. It meant so much to us during this emotional and difficult time when we are sorting out meds, different ways to feed her and cope with all our girls needs at this time. Thank you ???? for all your compassion, research and for being so patient with us. Any animal you touch is very lucky animal.

I started going here in an emergency for one of my cats about 3 years ago. Since then they have been nothing short of amazing. Their prices are reasonable, they offer emergency visits (at a higher price but still not emergency vet clinic pricing). Every vet I have encountered there has been fantastic with all of my girls. I had my cat euthanized at this clinic. I was able to book an appointment the same day she began to show signs that her quality of life, despite the pain medication prescribed by another vet, was diminished. All of the staff members were very kind and understanding. I was allowed to spend as much time with my cat as I needed prior to and after the procedure. The vet inserted a small cannula in her arm prior to the procedure, and he was so gentle with her that she didn't become agitated in the least. He used the two-injection method, sedating my cat before injecting the drug that would stop her heart. She passed very peacefully with her head resting on my arm. This was the first time I'd used this clinic, but the care shown to me and my pet, including an explanation by the vet about the procedure and what to expect, was excellent. I will definitely be using this clinic in the future.

My nearly 6-month-old kitten was just neutered at Edmonton West last Monday. He supposedly had a wellness exam prior to surgery, but I ended up back there with him last night. He had ear mites and had to be euthanized due to suspected FIP. This did not just develop over the past one week. I don't understand how he was given a clean bill of health one week ago. In addition to the $250ish it cost for the initial exam and surgery, it cost me another $610 last night only for me to lose my fur baby. I'm sure the vet suspected how the night would end from the start but had me pay for blood work and x-rays that never would have changed the outcome even after I mentioned that finances were a concern for me at this time. The money I saw change hands while I sat in the waiting room for nearly 5 hours was unbelievable. They charged me $230 just for the euthanasia and cremation for a tiny 6 pound kitten. (I paid only $165 for my 25 pound dog at Mercy Animal Hospital a few months ago, and Mercy didn't even charge me an exam fee as an emergency walk-in having never seen my dog before.) I definitely would not recommend Edmonton West Animal Hospital to anyone.

In response to Lydia's comment, it is clear that she has never met Dr. Bouclin in person (likely due to Covid-19 procedures). I have had the pleasure of shadowing Dr. Bouclin and so I know what goes on when your pet is brought to her from start to finish. She is always caring and compassionate. I have seen clients bring her gifts and heard countless thanks. It is important to understand that in these times of no personal contact that veterinary clinics are likely understaffed and that means slower turnaround for getting things like your pet's X-rays or test results back. Receptionists and other support staff are on the phones non-stop since clients cannot come in person, and this causes hold-ups with emails and such. Would you rather wait a little longer or risk a mistake being made because they were trying to multitask too much? I've seen the number of emails and calls that vets get on a regular day and it is astonishing if all of them get answered in a timely manner and so during this pandemic sending a reminder may be warranted, but delays should be expected. Also, if Lydia truly did "research" Dr. Bouclin's education, she would see that she graduated from an AVMA and RCVS accredited school which although is physically in the caribbean is actually an American school with highly experienced faculty. She had to write the exact same board exam as any other North American veterinarian and is also licensed by the ABMVA, which can only occur if she meets the standard of education for a veterinarian in Alberta. I agree that not all veterinarians are the same quality, but if they are licensed to work in Alberta then it is not because of where they received there education, it is because of their own drive to seek continued education, collaborate with other veterinarians, and make an effort to connect with their clients. I have seen Dr. Bouclin do all of these things, and so I believe that Lydia's comments are a misrepresentation of Dr. Bouclin's character and should be disregarded.

This clinic has gone above and beyond for my dog on more than one occasion. The care he receives from the vets, the techs, the assistants, and all other staff is far above what I've ever expected. I've never felt rushed or brushed off; everyone treats me and my dog with care and empathy. I know he is getting the best care when I bring him in. Even in an emergency situation, I have never hesitated handing him over because I know everyone is working tirelessly in the best interest of the dog. Their prices are extremely reasonable and they understand that there can sometimes be budget concerns with vet care. This is the only place in Edmonton where I have felt undercharged at times, rather than overcharged. They were very gracious about my budget concerns and referred other resources to help with current and future services. By far, this is the best clinic in Edmonton. I will always refer other pet parents here and I will always bring my pets here.

Woke up to find my kitty Fonzie with a bad abscess on his lower jaw (most likely a fight wound that got infected). My son came over to help me get care for him. He did some research online and found this clinic. We waited an extra hour for them to open instead of going to another one and I am so glad we did! As soon as we arrived, the vibe at the desk from the receptionist was very kind and caring. We got to see Dr. Gosal who is very accomplished in his field (you can read his bio on their site). He was very reassuring and explained everything very clearly and what impressed me the most is that he was able to diagnose my cat who had a very sore jaw without making him cry out in pain... Wow! I had not managed to do that and had been very concerned about Fonzie's pain level during that process. Then nurse Stephanie came in to explain more about the options on the procedures... She was a darling and I felt how both genuinely cared about my lovely Fonzie. I was also very impressed with the fact that he had a nurse assigned to his care for the duration of his stay. We picked him up later in the afternoon and again, the level of care and genuine affection for my fur baby warmed my heart. And the prices are very reasonable. I decided to adopt them as my new vet clinic and so has my son who has to kitties of his own! I highly recommend this clinic and all its stellar staff <3

Our little Chihuahua had become suddenly ill so we ended up with an emergency situation on a weekend but, of course, our regular vet was closed on a Sunday. After calling around, the Edmonton West Animal Hospital was recommended to us vs going to an emergency clinic. When I called, the staff were very friendly and understanding and got us in within an hour or so. I was thoroughly impressed with the service we received at this clinic, especially since we had never been here before. Dr. Chelsea Schuster was absolutely amazing!!! She listened and was very understanding and empathic to our situation. She explained every test that she would be performing, along with the cost of each, in detail, and ended up doing more than expected with no expectation. We had gone in expecting to just be sent away with medication but the prognosis was not good after getting the tests results back and we had to sadly say good-bye to our little guy. It was such a sudden and difficult time and Dr. Schuster was so gentle, kind, caring and compassionate through the whole thing. She explained the process so that we knew exactly what to expect. She was very sincere and you could tell she really cared about the animals she treated. I have to say I was so very impressed with this clinic and would recommend it to anyone. If we ever do get another pet, I would certainly consider this vet clinic for our regular vet services.

I'd midst of a global pandemic they have sure figured out how to be there for our pets!! They were polite, courteous and professional. It did suck that neither myself or my husband was able to go inside with our dog to get checked out, but under the current situations we completely understood. They came and got FrankieValli while I filled out form in the vehicle. The vet called me after checking on our guy to go over possibilities and recommendations. When we agreed to xrays he called us back again and went over everything in details. Gave us a course of actions and also stated if issue persists after a week to come back for more xrays free of charge. Their pricing is very reasonable. There emergency walk in exam 99$ xrays were only 170&, which is very reasonable considering other veterinary clinics!! We are extremely pleased with the care here and if ever in an emergency situation, or if our dogs regular vet unavailable for any reason we will definitely be coming back here!!

I had to get my dog in as there was an emergency with damage to her dew claw. I called my vet and they could not get me in and so I was given Edmonton West Animal Hospital as a referral from another vet clinic. As a walk in, I waited about an hour to get in to see the Doctor. He was very professional and told me what my options were relating to my dog. They did a great job and everything went well. I would only suggest maybe that they do a personal follow up call in a few days to see how the animal is recovery and what to expect further (if applicable). The front staff were respectful and courteous and the facility was very clean. Thank you for making this anxious ordeal (for me and my Miley girl) dealt with. I would use this vet clinic again if I cannot get in to my vet and would recommend them.

I still recommend this clinic to every person with a pet! Original review: This is by far the best vet clinic in the city! I shopped around for years trying to find a the combo of good clinic, good vets, and reasonable prices. This place has the best in all categories. Of course it's best to make an appointment, but I have never had an issue walking in when there was something unexpected. The charges here are sometimes several hundred dollars less than other places for the same procedures, with no loss of quality of care. When I had to put one of my cats down last year my regular vet was away. Even though I had never even met Dr. Sharma before, he was so compassionate and made the terrible situation as easy as possible. I have recommend this clinic to every person with pets that I know, and will continue do so. These vets are there because they really care about taking care of animals. You will not regret visiting!

My cat King got neutered the lady at the front quoted me an amount she had no change told me they would e-transfer funds or when I would come back to pick him up they said I owned $5.30 more which is fine but what made me so upset was the bag was given to me it had such a strong bad smell so when I put him in the car I wanted to check on him as I opened the bag pee all over the bag all over him. I bought a cat on kijiji last oct 21, called them in to transfer my cat’s record from previous owner to my account. Consent was already provided same day, was told it will be transferred over just waiting for the manager’s approval. Oct 25 Booked an appointment, Went in the clinic to get 2nd dose for shots was told we dont have any appointment because they cannot find her record in my account and have to provide previous owners information to check the schedule , filled out the transfer form and was told everything will be moved over. Requested a copy of medical record to be sent via email And up until now i havent received anything. Nov 7, calling in to follow up for the copy i requested of my new cat’s medical record so i can use it for her spay appointment and they cannot find her records under my account again. Its been 2 weeks now and still the transfer was not done. Im just tired waiting and waiting already. I know the clinic must be busy but transferring record shouldnt take this long, if i dont give them a call they wont even know what im requesting for!

I felt pretty rushed this last week. We brought in a stray kitten with a lame leg last week. The first vet said to wait a month to see if it's neurological. The second vet we just saw today didn't look at the xrays and just said right off the bat that we should amputate. I was also never asked for a fecal sample to see if anything could be passed along to a rabbit we have at home. Today's vet said anything that can be passed along will be in his feces, and to bring them a sample that takes 2 business days to process. He was also given a vaccine today but we were never told how long to wait before he gets his two booster shots.

What an amazing place!! I literally cannot say enough about this lovely place! Here’s my story: My poor kitty, Oliver had torn his ACL after getting trapped in something or someone trying to trap him ???? I was quoted $4,500 minimum from ‘other’ vets in and around Edmonton/Sherwood Park and I was having to choose between having food on the table or euthanizing my kitty ???? Either way I was told to try EWAH. They were so affordable and my gosh, so friendly! The ladies at the reception were so kind and compassionate. They even offered a complimentary vet check. No vet I’ve ever met has ever offered anything complimentary. I requested an estimate in the afternoon and by the late evening I was sent an estimate. I was expecting to hear back in a few days. They called me and updated me with how Oliver was doing once he’d come around and they loved my kitty as he was their own ❤️ The vet was phenomenal and the vet techs who did the after care were so kind to us and our kitty, they fell in love with my little guy. If you’re looking for a vet or need a surgery that won’t break the bank, please come and check these guys out. I’ll be forever grateful for you all ❤️

Only giving it a 2 because the second assistant was so nice and I really do appreciate her calming us both down and respecting not only my space, but Odins. I don't know your name but you work with horses and I honestly appreciate you a lot. I let them know ahead of time I had a dog showing random signs of people and animal aggression and my trainer advised me to get him looked at. I was told they would accommodate us to ensure the safety of everyone, especially other animals in the waiting room. We sat in the parking lot for 20 minutes after our appointment. The first assistant came out to talk to us, sticking her hands in my window to pet him, after I said he's been people aggressive and superatic. She continued to try and pet him. We wait in the car again so I can get Odin muzzled and harnessed.. She wanted me to wait outside, and I said that's not the best idea. I should bring him in. She said ok. She insisted on allowing him to walk on a loose leash with no control and when I'd reach for it she'd say she got it. I told her the leash is too loose and there's dogs by the car by the door and I'm nervous. Leading up to this point I was assuming the lobby was empty until she said "let me check to see if we're good to go in". She threw the door open and there was a dog right in front of us. Odin threw himself backwards and a whole mess of a tuck harness, the muzzle coming off and him almost getting his collar off. She took the harness off which he was leashed to, and almost let him run off. I had to grab him and hold him, trying to calm him down. She came out with a lead and tried again. I told her I'm not comfortable and he's obviously not. We're going home. This was not only negligent but DANGEROUS for not only the people around us, but Odin and myself.

I went to Edmonton West as an emergency option because I was worried about my cat who had started peeing everywhere. My regular vet recommended going to an emergency vet (not specifically Edmonton West) because they were worried about a blockage. After an exam, x-rays and a urinalysis we were sent home on a Friday and told to wait 4 business days for results. Over the course of the weekend my regular vet called 4 times to check on my cat and make sure we were okay. Edmonton West would barely give me the time of day when I called to ask if there was something else I could be doing. When the results finally came back they told me it wasn't a UTI, but diagnosed him with Feline Idiopathic Cystitis... Which is fair, but they neglected to tell me they also found CRYSTALS IN HIS URINE! Crystals are serious and can be potentially life threatening if not treated! The only reason I even knew about them was because our regular vet called and checked in again! When I mentioned he was still having problems, they recommended we bring him in and within minutes our doctor asked if we knew he had crystals because we needed to be treating them. I will never be going back to this vet, and will be warning all my pet owning friends about how this practice treats their patients and owners. I am so infuriated I spent so much money there and was not given the information needed to help my cat.

Stop whatever you are doing and put their address and phone number in your phone right now. These guys literally saved our cat's life the other night who had severe urinary blockage. I cannot even begin to express how grateful we are for their help and expertise. We came in a furious rush at their closing time at 10PM, ignoring the fact that we are their first time client they accommodated us right away and reacted quickly, calmly and efficiently. Everyone was extremely professional, kind and their bedside manner during an insanely stressful time was much appreciated. They stayed after hours just to help our loving fur baby and even after saving his life, they continued to follow up in the following days. All is well that ends well, and we are sure we trust this Vet and won't go anywhere else now. We have told everyone about this team of angles and we don’t know what we would do without them. If you are a pet parent you need to make them a visit. Guarantee you will be very happy! There are not enough stars in the google world to possibly give them. I have taken my dog there to get the TPLO surgery in January I believe and since then I have been having the worst experience with this vet clinic. I have brought my dog in for multiple check ups, I have talked to them over the phone of how much dog can barely walk and it’s now May. They say she’s fine and to get some vaccinations to help with her arthritis. So I have been trying to go through Paybright just like we did when she got the surgery and I have talked to at least 5 different people about this. Nobody is helping in any way. I have been asking if I could get the vaccinations and use Paybright to pay for it and they keep telling me how to apply for Paybright but I have already been approved for it months and months ago. They will not give me a straight answer they just pass me along to other people. I cannot keep dealing with the vet. I have tried to be patient and kind but my dog can barely walk and she’s not getting any help from this vet. All they want is for me to pay for multiple exam fees for them to tell me that she’s fine. She’s clearly NOT fine, she can barely walk. She’s in so much pain. Every single time I have to deal with the vet clinic there’s always some sort of problem since day 1. I’ve been put on hold for 40 minutes up to a full hour to be hung up on, I call back and then I have to deal with someone new to be put on hold because they don’t know how to answer my question, so they put me on hold to find someone else. It’s just a pattern, I’m not getting any help. Worst experience with a vet clinic ever.

I have nothing but the most amazing things to say about the vet and techs that took care of us at The West animal hospital. The clinic itself is clean and taken care of even on the busiest days. The hours they are open are great and they are very fair priced compared to others. The Receptionists are all amazing and welcoming. I almost lost my little Pikachu (cat) to a vicious attack. He was extremely injured and there was a possibility of loss of him or even a limb. The vet took a special interest in my little guy and I know she did everything possible and everything necessary to make sure Pikachu was taken care of. S he ended up saving his leg with the care her and her techs took. She made sure it was affordable for me as I had to be there every single day for nearly 2 months for open wound care. I felt very welcome each time and enjoyed hearing the positive feedback given to me about my little guy each time I went. He healed faster than initially expected because of the love and care put into his healing process. It was unexpected and unfortunate what had happened but I knew in her care that he was going to be alright and I wasn't wrong. She was also very informative keeping me updated with how far along we were, techniques she was trying and honest about the timeline. Even after losing alot of tissue and muscle due to necrosis, he seems to be back at 100%, plump and healthy and I don't think anyone else could have done the amazing job she had. I am terrible with words but I truly want to Squeeze you all and thank you profusely for saving him and his leg. I don't think the outcome would have been the same if I went anywhere else and I am extremely grateful for the effort love and care put into my little baby. It was unexpected and very appreciated. Thank you all so much for such a wonderful experience. I would 1000% recommend this vet to ANYONE who needs another to help with their pets no matter the circumstances. I was shown anything is possible. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Please always remember to be patient, kidn and respectful with the vets and reception. They are very busy ladies there :)

Clinic has good hours. Reception staff ignored me when I arrived 3 days before for canned c/d food. A few days later I took my cat here because I wanted a second opinion and they got her in before her scheduled appointment, had blood work and xrays. The doctor informed me of issues that were missed on testing from another clinic a week prior. He went over the results to me in detail and I asked for written notes so I could inform my partner on the cats condition since I knew we weren't walking out the door with the file until he writes it up later. I never got the note in the room and since the Dr already went in to another exam I had to leave with out them as the receptionist and tech had no idea what I was asking for. We were told to go for a blood transfusion and ultrasound immediately at an emergency clinic. The testing was relatively quick only waited 30min in the room before the Dr and 45min for results but the front end staff needs better communication.

Wonderful place to take your pets. Our pup Autumn goes here, and because of her anxiety it can be a little difficult to keep her calm. On her very first visit EVERYONE working here made an effort to show her she didn't need to be scared (even though she was still shy by the end.) Took my cat for the dental cleaning the other day. The whole process was very smooth. Before surgery I was well explained on all possible charges and procedures. It took them about 2 hours to let me know my cat was ready for pick up. At dismissal, the vet cared enough to show me before and after pictures and answer all my questions with patience and respect. When the first poor experience occurred, I gave the clinic the benefit of the doubt as the vet and I were able to reach a mutually satisfying solution. Nevertheless, the service I received today resulted in a very poor and stressful experience for both my pet and I. Taken together, my experiences with this vet clinic make me very uneasy and uncomfortable. The impression that I got is that the staff are overworked, overwhelmed, and extremely disorganized. This results in poor communication among the staff which results in errors while treating patients. The poor experiences I have had make me question whether the staff here are competent and able to properly do their job. The reason I came to this clinic was because of all of the positive reviews and the fact that they are very reasonably priced. After my poor experiences, I will not be going back. If you are considering this vet, I suggest trying other vets even if they are more expensive; the extra money will be worth the peace of mind of knowing that your pet is in competent and capable hands. I communicated my disappointment over the poor service I received today over text (as this is a way of communication the clinic offers their clients). No one from management contacted me to apologize or look into how the situation could have been avoided or resolved. In short, take your business elsewhere and avoid unnecessary stress (for your pet too) and headaches. Update: It's very telling when a business tries to burry a valid negative customer review by posting a 5-star review (within an hour of the bad review having gone up) directly contradicting what was said in the negative review. Very disappointing. If clients are dissatisfied with your poor services, it's a good hint to improve your services and learn from your mistakes.

We originally came to Edmonton West to get a second quote for some dental work for our dog, Kali, but ended up getting some scary news about our girl's bloodwork results that has resulted in a lot of visits here in the past month or so. Everyone here has been absolutely fantastic to deal with and we cannot say enough good things about Dr. Zandi and the care he's provided to Kali. He gave us all the information we needed to get her issue diagnosed and are currently working towards a resolution! The techs have been awesome in dealing with her nervousness at all the visits, and we always get results promptly with a clear explanation of the next steps. I'm so thankful we came here, and plan on continuing to bring Kali here going forward.

I've given this place 3 tries, and unfortunately they're not the one for us. We've heard multiple rave reviews from colleagues, so I don't think it's terrible. It's just not for us. Pros - Prices are competitive, and if you book an appointment ahead of time, half of the consult fee is knocked off. - Walk in appointments are available - Typically quick and to the point - Pleasant staff Cons - Took my 2nd puppy to have her spay surgery here, and the surgical site took longer to heal than another clinic we went to for our first puppy. - Lots of add ons that are only mentioned during consultation. No written/itemized quote was given before procedures until you pay on the day of. (They may do this upon request, but it seems like they're too busy and don't have time to do it for everyone) - Recently came here due to a chipped tooth, and the Dr. took 2 minutes to tell me what I already knew. Told me it would be an extra $150 for cleaning when my dog has minimal plaque/tartar. Got another quote elsewhere and was told I wouldn't be charged for cleaning due to how well I've taken care of her teeth. As much as I wanted to love this clinic since it's close to home, I can't bring myself to. I personally feel more comfortable with our original vet downtown who spends the time to explain everything to us. If you're looking to go somewhere that will get you in and out in a very timely manner, this place is for you. If you're like me and appreciate having a full conversation with the vet, look elsewhere.

Good enough for keeping my cats alive, but not good enough for any recommendation or future visits for the following reasons: 1. Disorganized as a whole. It’s basically like a human hospital…no one knows anything. The vet called me to ask how my cat was doing because I visited my cat that morning. Got a call from the vet about someone else’s pet during the 3 short days my cat was hospitalized. I asked to have my cat’s file transferred a day ahead to another hospital…and I had to ask four more times to eventually have it transferred over. Ah, and there’s a charge of “miscellaneous” that when questioned, the front desk does not know about and have no access to any reference in the computer system. Hmm…would you trust someone this disorganized to care for your pets? 2. Ineffectiveness in diagnosis and limited access to resources. The three days I was away, they recommended to do an ultrasound on my cat, and they just scratched it off because “the guy was on vacation” while we have been told that the ultrasound is urgently needed. Three days, not much done to a cat was getting sick very quickly. However, I am grateful that they were able to take in my pet quickly in his moment of needs. I would urge the business owners to invest in building a better system so that the animals are getting better care.

We found out from our regular vet that both of our dogs required dentals. Our regular vet quoted us, and the amount seemed very high. I started asking around, and our vet's quote was actually average, but way more than we wanted to spend. I checked with Dr Google and found this clinic and called them. We went in for a free dental exam the same day, and we were quoted SUBSTANTIALLY less, and booked the surgery. I was nervous because the amount was less. BUT! We are VERY satisfied with the overall service, all of the staff were friendly, and fantastic. Our dogs were treated well. The Dr spent a long time going over the procedure with us prior and post surgery He was showing us pics of their teeth and x rays, even though it was 9:30 at night. Answered all of our questions, (and I had many)! Overall we are TOTALLY satisfied, and we have referred others. They care, and it shows.

One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a vet. They gave my dog way too much morphine and they didn't have the right medication on hand to stop my dog from having back spasms. My little buddy had to be put down and they would not let more than one person in the room. They charged me for this awful experience. I left and went to a practice that was more humane. Please avoid this place if you can.

Very affordable. With my Male cat to get fixed, it was $130 including overnight stay, cone, catheter and pain medication. Staff were extremely friendly and compassionate about animals. I will recommend this to anyone I know and will take all my animals here. 10/10.

My Boston Terrier Pico got attached by a pitbull at the dog park recently. I did not know what to do first. I just got into my car and drove to this clinic for help. Dr. Alireza Zandi was so helpful and kind to me and to my dog. He gave an assurance that the small surgery would help Pico and he should be fine soon. Very fair and honest doctor. I highly recommend him. The staff are very nice and helpful as well.

I came to these guys of August last year and I am actually going to be seeing them again on April. I live in southern BC and the selection of vets where I live (especially that deal with dental) are few and far between and most of them ARE NOT good vets and they are so expensive that it is going to be cheaper for me to drive 1400km one way and take 2 weeks off work to see them again, than it would be to get this dealt with at home. Everyone that works there that I dealt with were AMAZING! And the cost? OMG! I almost pooped my pants in excitement as she read me of the pricing list. Also what blew me away was no initial charge for the first diagnostic or for follow up check up. EVERY vet where I live is Min $60 Just to get them past the scale! Tesla has always loved going to the vet but u figured after all he went through last time that he wouldn't be happy.about going back. Nope! He LOVED being back there! :) and I guess we will be seeing u guys again fairly soon! I HIGHLY recommend these guys and I HAVE recommended them to friends of mine! :) Thanks for providing top notch care for an extremely affordable price!

We were dedicated to this vet clinic for the last handful of years for food, checkups and medication. Had nothing but good things to say about their service, until yesterday. Our senior cat was not doing well at all, and we needed to euthanize him... We were given time to say our goodbyes, they put a catheter in, then they moved him to a cold metal examination table behind glass for the procedure. Now, I understand the safety measures due to COVID, but the environment and vet were so cold and uncaring. Once our cat put his head down I asked tearfully if he was gone. The vet told me he was brain dead but that we were going to wait to make sure his heart had stopped... Was that necessary to say? After that she arranged him and told us we could come around and visit him as long as we needed, and left. I guess we were just expected to leave his dead body alone on the table? We felt wrong about that, so I asked a staff to take him. Needless to say we will not be returning to this clinic with our business.

Took 2 cats in, one a placid animal, one a fighter. Felt they got great professional care. Mr. Placid was easy. Mr. Fighter had to be sedated and stay awhile for a good exam. Front end staff very friendly and helpful. Only 3 minor (?) drawbacks. 1. When we asked for a quote on costs, all the vaccinations needed were not included despite us giving a good history so on the day of the exams, the cost was more than quoted. Having had cats for many years, I had kind of had this in the back of my head so it wasn't completely unexpected but should have been caught when we booked. Not a huge deal for me. 2. When we booked, we were very emphatic that Mr. Fighter would be a problem and asked to have oral sedation prior. It was refused. So on the day of, our option was IV sedation or to take oral and wait hours or do it another day. I do understand that you wouldn't want to medicate an animal you've never met (much like a doctor wouldn't prescribe meds to a patient they've never met) but I feel this could have been handled better. Also not a huge deal, just irritating. 3. Vet (can't recall the name right now) was VERY good at addressing all concerns and explaining what was going on as well as options. Not very friendly toward the animals though, just very clinical. To me, this is a minor drawback. I feel the cats were well examined and cared for, just...seems like if you're a vet, you might actually like animals. But maybe that was just my morning-after-a-nightshift perspective. Like previously said, the clinical care was very good which for me is the point of going. As long as the animals are looked after medically, all is good. UPDATE: Had to take Mr. Fighter in again for an abcess to his face. Sedation was prescribed prior to going in and exam was able to be done amazingly well. Saw a different vet but care and advice were again excellent. Will most certainly be my first choice of places to go.

I cannot be silent after reading your review, Lydia. I hope you will return to the site so you can read what others and I have to say to you. I pray you will recind your disrespectful and ill-informed review of Dr. ... yes, Dr. Melanie Bouclin. “Do not trust Dr. Melanie Bouclin with your pet.” Nothing could be farther from the truth for me. Dr. Bouclin had been practicing several years before coming to my neighbourhood clinic. What a wonderful first appointment that turned out to be. I am so grateful to say she has been my vet now for 6 years. There is no vet I trust more than Dr. Bouclin when it comes to the health and well-being of my two dogs. “She is unethical, incompetent, inexperienced and careless." Dr. Bouclin has practiced in the US, the Edmonton Humane Society, Edmonton North VetEmerg and several Edmonton Vet Clinics. Dr. Bouclin’s love of emergency medicine and experience in it, combined with her special interests in radiology, and pain management, gives an overall picture of just how serious she is about helping our animal community. Before your phone call ended, did you ask Dr. Bouclin the name of the drug she would administer to you pet? May I ask what difference it makes to you what drug is used for the ultrasound? Dr. Bouclin would never use a drug that would hurt or harm your dog in any way. If you thought of this question after the call ended, did you call back and ask Dr. Bouclin for clarification? “She does not know how to explain much because she does not know much.” ‘‘She is inarticulate.” “She neglects to provide you with any details on your options.” Once again, Lydia, your sweeping statements have no foundation in the truth. I go prepared to my appointments with a list of questions I need answered. Dr. Bouclin always takes the time to answer them. Dr. Bouclin is the first vet I’ve ever had who goes above and beyond explaining procedures and medications. She goes into great detail about what any procedure entails and outlines any possible risks. She uses pamphlets, posters and does her own drawings in her explanations. Post surgery drug benefits and possible side effects are also explained. She describes everything in terms I understand and consequently puts my over-active mind at ease and conveys her knowledge in a concise way. She treats my dogs as I am sure she would treat her own 2 dogs. These are just some of the attributes that makes Dr. Bouclin a conscientious, compassionate and dedicated vet. “She does not allow for second opinions." Dr. Bouclin has saved both my dogs during the 6 years I have been blessed to call her my dogs' vet. One of my dogs has a rare, fatal disease. Dr. Bouclin diagnosed it but to be sure, she consulted 2 other veterinarians, who themselves had never seen the disease but were so grateful for her consultation and who now contact her for a second opinion. “She is easily distracted and does not appear to take her job seriously.” During this time of Covid19, clients are not allowed in the clinic. How could you possibly conclude ‘she is easily distracted and does not take her job seriously” by talking to Dr. Bouclin on the phone, as all clients are required to do now. Have you even met Dr. Bouclin before Covid19 arrived? Have you thought for one minute that while talking to you on the phone, Dr. Bouclin may have received an urgent message from a lab, or the receptionist had a quick question for Dr. Bouclin from a client on hold? How many times in your day are you interrupted, Lydia? Does that make you ‘easily distracted? Can people accuse you of ‘not appearing to take your job’, whatever it may be, ‘seriously'? My dogs have had numerous vets through the years but none have shown such passion and genuine concern as Dr. Bouclin. Animal welfare has been a passion of hers since childhood. In my experience, no one has ever taken their job more seriously than Dr. Bouclin. Continued...

I have dealt with this place in the past and have had positive experiences haven't dealt with them for a few years now because doctor was lacking integrity and professionalism when he suggested to whole battery of tests and putting the fear of God into me that my dog was on it last legs the dog is perfectly fine and healthy today I went to a vet Mill Woods and the guy said diet change and he says that the dog seems to be okay doesn't seem to find reason for complicated and expensive and unnecessary tests dogs 14 years old now and has the energy of a young dog if you want honesty integrity and proper medical care for your pet do not I repeat boycott this place at all costs

We had the unfortunate experience of having to put down our senior cat of 17 years in December. Our regular clinic was closed, so we came here. The technician was so sympathetic and went over all of our options when it came to cremation and having a commemorative plaque made up. She really made us feel at ease and assured us that things would be handled delicately. We were also told to take as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes. A few weeks after, we received a sympathy card in the mail signed by all of the staff. It was such a sweet gesture and made me feel as though they really cared. I would definitely go back to this clinic again.

Our little bull dog went in for surgery for stenotic nares (to open his nasal airway), hernia repair, neuter and 1st rabies shot. The pre surgery appointment was informative all our questions were answered, we knew what to expect. Post surgery the staff was very helpful and empathetic when we called to check on him and gave us an update on how he was and how the surgery went. When we picked him up they explained all medications and what we needed to do over the coming days to help with his recovery. The doctors and staff are awesome...... Highly recommend for all your veterinary needs

Takes me asking 20 times for them to put insurance claim through..Reception never knows what’s going on with anything and I went in for a 350 dollar surgery which some how turned into almost 3000 dollars and when I asked what the extra 1750 on my bill was. No one had a clue. I believe they scammed my insurance and I’ve heard they do from other places. They have no problem taking 3000 dollars from you. And then when you ask them to put the claim through they take two weeks like I don’t need that money during corona. I literally had to call every day and I got a different excuse each time . It’s suppose to be a cheaper clinic but If I called around on this surgery I wouldn’t of paid this much. DO NOT GO IF YOU HAVE INSURANCE!!! Save your time because it will cost you an your insurance more in the end. Even if you don’t have insurance I still would recommend going some where else. I referred my friend there and she was left with only questions and questions if they even cleaned her dogs ear. When I brought my dog there for his ear infection she barley even looked at it. Just too many bad experiences!! You’ll see if you go.

Was a very new experience for me there my very puppy. I entered the clinic stood there not knowing what to do it took a good 10 minutes before someone ask me what I was in for. Then someone came took the puppy into the exam room no introduction or anything after they were done they told me what they did overall I did not had a good experience.

I’m pretty upset with the experience and service I received today since I have been going here for my pup’s vaccinations for the past couple months. I brought my pup in today for some concerns I’ve had and received nothing but rude and unwelcoming service. Upon entering, 4 or 5 receptionists were just talking amongst each other and not helping anyone out. The 2 vet doc’s I saw were very rude especially when I was trying to explain the situation going on with my pup. I was charged for a regular vet check up, when the vet checked nothing but the main concern that I had. Waste of $55. I wasn’t told about the charge for the other exam that was done and was surprised on the bill. The 2 vet docs didn’t even wash hands upon handling my pup’s face many times, especially with the drops they were putting on and wiping on the countertop. The staff I saw were all new and completely unprofessional. These people should be happy to still have a job during unprecedented times. I would fire them in a heartbeat.

I've been going to this clinic for four years now. Never had any issues until recently. It seems they are getting new veterinary people in there that don't know what they are doing. I went in on Monday to bring my pom in cause she just had babies. She was acting strange panting a lot. The vet checked her ears, teeth and her heart. She did nothing else. She didn't check her temperature, feel her stomach. And then she comes in and says she needs me to spend $600 for tests. I couldn't afford all the tests for I'm on a disability pension. I was only to do one. She did the test and said she'll call me in 72 hours with the results. In the meantime time she's getting more fidgety and still keeps panting. I don't know what to do. But the vet didn't leave me with any piece of mind. I can't go to another clinic for different advice cause I just gave this clinic all my money. Very frustrated and disheartening that I may loose my friend.

My dog had to spend the night after surgery and the girls made sure he had extra snuggles in the morning while he waited to be picked up. I always feel like I am leaving my dog in great hands. Vet missed important test we both agreed my pet needed. They excused their mistake as miscommunication based on the fact I could not afford 800$ in office stability ;even though I said numerous times I wanted all reccomended bloodwork. My pet is dying and I still have no known cause. 1000$ I spent to be told my pet is ataxic and " might have " x diseases ( with no clinical diagnosis to support claims ) They discharged us with medication on Oct 28, I asked for a refferal to Pulse emergency clinic because my pet is pretty much dead and needs medical attention from someone who CARES and they still have yet to do the refferal!!!!! THEY ALSO PUSHED VACCINATIONS WHEN MY PET WAS CLEARLY SICK. Just another office taking advantage of venerable people and tugging on heartstrings. Go elsewhere, their prices aren't affordable and they might overlook your pets needs based on your ability to pay 1000's of $s for their " services " . Not only that but while dealing with the missed tests they were incredibly unprofessional and contradicted themselves twice on the probable diagnosis of my pet, upon second opinion I was told that the " probable diagnosis" sounded like a scare tactic to get me to come back into their office to spend more money on more tests . Deplorable . Service . I am absolutely appalled. Coming back to attest that after more testing and further veterinary care at another office we've been diagnosed and it's NOTHING that the vet there had suggested. My kitten was severely depleted and suppressed from medication and treatment given by this vet. I will be filing a complaint and forwarding all information to Alberta Veterinary Medical Association and I urge others in my position to do the same. Don't let this office overlook your pets health needs .

One of my friend told me that they are open 365 days for extended hours. I called them and they treated my cats with proper care and kept her for more than 3 days in clinic and it cost nme even less than half. They work within my budget and saved her. This vet clinic is a life saver. Literally. I could not be happier with them. I wish I have found them years ago. I take both of my dogs here and they are so well cared for I never have to worry. My dog Sugar had two major surgeries there which were very reasonably priced/affordable and stressful for me but when I picked her up they showed me pictures of my dog during surgery which was nice to see how many teeth needed to be removed and why. Great experience from start to finish. We had an emergency situation with our dog and they were able to take us in on a short notice. The receptionists were very polite and understanding on the phone and in person. We didn't have to wait for a long time when we came. The doctor was professional, didn't hurry when he did the exam, listened to all concerns and thoroughly went over all possible causes and options. This all made us feel we were in good hands. The next day they followed up to see how our dog was doing and whether we had any questions or concerns, which was really nice. Very disappointed in our recent visit. We have been taking all four of animals to this vet for years, and have always received great service until recently with all the new staff. We took in our lab for a booster and to pick up flee and tick medication. We waited over 40 minutes past our initial appointment time just to see the vet, Dr. Melanie Bouclin, for 2 minutes. The “wellness exam” was extremely disappointing, she came into the room and knew nothing about our dog’s history even though our dog has been coming to this clinic for her entire life. The doctor then proceeded to yank on my dogs leash, which made our dog even more stressed. The doctor conducted a very quick exam, didn’t speak to me or give me any results of my dog’s exam. The whole exam was about 2 minutes, she proceeded to tell me I could go back to the front to pay, which we then had to wait an additional 15 minutes for. After this visit we are now considering taking our animals to a new vet clinic.

I am a new cat owner so I'd thought this clinic would be suitable after reading all these nice reviews. So basically, my cat had ear mites so the doctor told me to put ointments in the ears for 10 days after the cleaning. No warnings or precaution or anything what I need to know about the ointment. I started to notice my cat is losing its hair around the ear and continuously scratching the ears with its claw. I did read the direction of the ointment and because it is noticably bad for the cat, i stopped putting the ointnent and called the clinic. The receptionist said I will be getting a call back from the doctor so the doctor could provide me an advice on this matter. But nope. Nothing. I dont even know if they actually cleaned the ears or not because it is still scratching its ears. The receptionists were super nice and kind though and they were patient with me when explaining things since I am a new pet owner. But, doctor wise, I wouldnt trust this place and I wouldnt recommend.

Just called to have my “free” dental follow up appointment booked for my dogs that had dental surgery done there almost 2 weeks ago. Was told that unless there was an issue they were not booking these appointments. Dental surgery was over $3700, not pleased that they can’t be bothered to do the follow up that was suppose to be included. Update: After posting my review the office manager called me and explained that due to COVID they were attempting to limit staff and customer exposure and therefore were only doing follow up appointments if really necessary. She apologized that staff perhaps had not communicated this well. She stated that she understood that after major dental surgery I would like my dogs checked by a professional & made me an appt for a time suitable for me. Therefore, I am happy with the service provided.

We were evacuated from our home because of the northern Alberta wild fires and our dog Lola got a ear hematoma during this time. We couldn’t take her to our regular vet so we called here and they got her in the same day to drain it (The hours of operation are great). Lola isn’t always the best behaved so I was a little nervous taking her to a new place but here we felt comfortable and not judged (which sadly we’ve felt in the past at another place) by the girls at the front. They were kind and welcoming (great customer service) and her vet seemed really caring and considerate of Lola’s comfort level. She suggested surgery if the hematoma came back as she said Lola got very stressed when having to have it drained. As you may know, the cost for any type of surgery isn’t cheap and unfortunately we didn’t have pet insurance and being evacuated we had to watch our spending as we didn’t know how long we were going to be displaced from our homes. The second time we had to get it drained we could really see how much Lola dreaded going and we asked if it was possible to get some sort of discount for being evacuees to do the surgery (I hated to ask but it was worth a try and thankfully the receptionist on the phone didn’t make me feel bad or awkward for asking). The receptionist said she would ask the owners; they came back and said they could include the iv, medication, and head cone for free (which saved us a bit, especially at a time where every dollar counts)! We were beyond grateful and cannot express enough how thankful we are to the Edmonton West Animal Hospital & Spay/Neuter Centre for showing compassion to us during this time! Thanks again to all the hard working staff & owners :)

The best animal clinic in Edmonton hands down. We have been bringing our animals here for years now, ever since our cat Fritz had a bout of illness on a Saturday at midnight and needed immediate care. Also all vaccinations and the spaying and neutering my house zoo needed. The doctors and staff here really care about the animals and understand and treat each situation as if it was their own pet. Including follow up emails/calls to ensure everything is going well. They explain everything clearly including the cost so you can weigh out the best options for care. Their prices are the lowest they could be and I really appreciate that having two pups and three cats. When we had to put our poor sick Misty down they gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye, even waiting for my daughter to drive over which was so kind and appreciated. All the staff even took the time out of their busy day to personally sign and mail us a sympathy card. Thank you all so much for being so caring and so good at what you do! ????????????

Definitely the best clinic in town, i have been going to Edmonton west animal hospital from past 4 years with my 3 dogs. Once i found them and tried there services i never looked back. There prices are very affordable to any another clinic. i think almost half from most of clinics. The best thing is that they do not compromise with quality of care. i never been pushed to run test but explained why i need those test. if i feel comfortable that its needed than they will do that. i have seen almost all the vets in this clinic and they are all really good and pleasant to work with. Recently my Golden retriever broke his cruciate ligament in his knee and start limping and i got free consultation with Dr Gosal. he explained all the techniques to me and what is best technique for his weight. He quoted me way less than other clinic quotes. I almost saved around $1500 - $2000 when i called around on cost to other clinics. Same thing is with vaccination and other treatments. 6 month fast forward after surgery my dog is back to normal walking without any limp. Without a doubt i will recommend this clinic to all my friends and family members so that they save significant on money and experience a quality service. :-)

I have now gone to the Edmonton West Animal Hospital 3 times and have had a great experience each time. The vet's are unbelievably friendly and handle pets with the upmost care and compassion. I find that they will always leave me with options in deciding how I would like to proceed with treatment. They are understanding and knowledgeable and have never forced a more extreme or more expensive solution for treatment (if it is absolutely not necessary). Dr Melanie Bouclin is an excellent, and very compassionate doctor. I can’t reccommend her enough. I’m in disbelief to see user Lydia’s review below. Dr Bouclin was the only one with the education, professional resources, and compassion to go the extra mile in diagnosing my little yorkie. He was found to have a rare neurological condition and with her help we found the right balance of medicine for my furbaby to live comfortably for many years. Dr Bouclin cared enough to spend several hours researching and discussing with veterinary conference panelists to help us. From a young age my dog had spent years going from one doctor to another with an assortment of symptoms that we couldn’t diagnose before she came into our lives. We had a few scary scenarios that required some heavy duty drugs and Dr Bouclin explained everything very professionally and made sure we were confident in our treatment options. She even made herself available in her off-schedule time to help us. We also had problems like itchy skin that with her experience were fixed promptly. She did his teeth a few times. She preformed surgery when our dog was attacked, and kept on top of an infection that developed through no fault of the Dr’s. She has good bedside manner and tries to explain everything in the simplest terms, but if asked she can explain things to you in all the scientific lingo and terms too. She handled anything we threw at her with care and intelligence. We also traveled to Mexico with our dog a few times and my parents would sometimes keep him down there for the winter (so spoiled!) and we never had any problems getting medical information communicated back and forth to share with the Mexican vet. Overall Dr Bouclin deserves five stars in our experience!

I took my 9 day old kitten here as she was not gaining weight and I was very worried about her. This was the only vet open with out a huge wait on sunday evening so we brought her in. The vet only checked her heart rate and weighed her. That's it. Did not investigate my concerns, and I felt the vet was not truly interested in healing my struggling baby. We were sent home after being charged the full amount for a 2 minute visit and our kittens health has gone down hill extremely. I do not reccomend this vet if you want someone to truly take time to ensure the well being of your pet.

We took our cat at 7pm, they were able to fit her. I called 2 hours before,and I got appointment. Apparently they could't book apt,only last minute one that cost $25-35 more,but ok. The thing that was super annoying and not acceptable is that someone was vacuuming rooms next door where my cat was in the room. She is being so terrified. I think vacuuming should be done after hours,not when animals are still there. Sick pet need to feel safe,not to be terrified by vacuum.

Ever since they've moved to the new location, the staff don't listen, neither do the vets. I have insurance, it took a month for them to do the paperwork and they completely made a mess of it. When I was there for her check up a year and a half ago I pointed out a sore near her back hip. They told me it was nothing even though I said it clearly irritates her when I touch it although it does not impair her. On her checkup this year, I showed them the sore again as it was still there and they said oh, it feels like maybe she just has a pulled muscle. I explained how it's a sore, how is this a pulled muscle. And they said sometimes cats just get sores or skin tags and they're for no reason and they can aggravate other things. Well now the sore has almost completely healed but she has a huge lump underneath where the sore was and she will absolutely not let you near her because of it. She squeals if I touch it. I told them from the get-go I thought it was something that needed to be actually looked at or tested and now she has a new sore a little further down that she absolutely won't let me touch either. The other thing is if she has a couple of rotten teeth but the vet refuses to remove them without a full teeth cleaning which is over $1,000. Insurance does not cover teeth and we are in the midst of a pandemic so I think I'm being proactive by requesting to simply have the teeth pulled to contain any infection or irritation but they are refusing. I really just don't know what's happening with this clinic anymore. It's really unfortunate because I really liked them after transferring from the Terra losa location when they closed down. Whatever it is, they're not putting the pets first, they're putting their wallets first. ????

This clinic is great, mainly for these reasons: 1. They are way more affordable than other vets. My cat had an exam, xray, blood work, same-day procedure to unblock bladder, and 3 night hospital stay for only $1300. That's so reasonable! 2. They are fairly accessible, meaning they have walk-ins and evening appointments. They aren't only open during business hours.

This clinic has no business calling itself an emergency clinic, They kept us waiting while they gave pets shots and our dog was in severe distress from diabetes. The receptionist was more interested in the huge bag of doritos that a client brought in. I was talked into letting them give him blood tests after I wanted to take him to the vet emergency clinic which our own vet recommended, so we left them alone with our dog to complete the blood tests. When they brought him back to us after the blood testing he was clearly in severe distress. Regretfully, this clinic did nothing to help our very sick dog and he died on the way to the emergency pet hospital. If this clinic had actually provided emergency care our little dog may still be alive. Would give them zero stars if we could.

Not very happy with the vets there. I brought my very sick dog in to be euthanized and they did an exam and said she wasn’t that bad and I could leave her there for 24-48 hours so they could run $2000-4000 worth of tests but that I could also take her home and think about it. She died at home in pain. I wish I would have trusted my gut and let her go peacefully but thought I was over reacting because the vets said she wasn’t that bad. The front end staff was very nice but I feel the vets there just want your money.

The receptionists are all very nice and welcoming and booking appointments are very easy because of their business hours. Had a very bad experience here. Brought my puppy here four times within two weeks and he went undiagnosed with puppy strangles. Told the vets he was itchy and his lymph nodes were extremely swollen. He was given antibiotics on his last visit but was told on our third and fourth visit that he would need blood work to figure out what is wrong with him. Puppy strangles can be fatal and my puppy can also have permanent scarring from this due to late diagnosis. Took my dog to Lessard-Callingwood vet hospital and they properly diagnose my puppy on the first visit. Very disappointed with the Edmonton west animal hospital and will no longer be taking my pets here.

We went to Edmonton West in an emergency situation during COVID. Given the circumstances, we weren't allowed inside the office, but the staff provided excellent communication. Unfortunately we had to make the decision to euthanize our dog. Due to not being allowed in the office, the team worked with us to let us spend as much time as we needed with our boy, and then kindly agreed to put him down in the back of our car. The staff were so kind and patient with us. A few weeks later, we received a card in the mail with a personal note from a number of staff. We will make them our regular vet in the future and thank them for their kindness during a difficult time.

My dog needed to get in to a vet quickly. My vet was booked up for the day and I called Edmonton West Animal Hospital and they got me in within the hour. I was so stressed as my little guy was vomitting, falling over, and couldn't walk. The girls at the front were very nice and got me in. I saw Dr. Sharma and he was very calming and did some tests on my dog and gave me medication. He provided me with 2 scenarios, 1 being vestibular syndrome (which he would recover), or the other a stroke. It was a wait and see approach. Within days my dog was starting to improve. I was so happy to have gotten him in so quickly as I am a new patient of theirs. Thank you to Dr. Sharma and the staff for taking care of my boy and helping in his recovery.

Not a good experience! Will never go here again. Doctor I saw for my dogs eye infection was cold and uncaring. He gave me different directions for the drops then the instructions he printed on the bottle. Then when I called the next day cause she was in more pain and it spread to the other eye they couldn't get me in again and she had to suffer until the next day. Horrible experience!

In the beginning of May I brought my dog in for teeth cleaning. During that procedure the veterinarian called me while my dog was under anesthesia and let me know my dog needed 19 teeth removed. I was overwhelmed and a bit shocked and was told that if I wasn’t ready to make the decision at that particularly time then to wait and think about it or receive a second opinion. Needless to say, I decided to do both and wish that I would have fully trusted the advice from the veterinarian from the get go. At the end of May my dog went back to Edmonton West Animal Hospital and had the teeth extractions. The veterinarian Dr. Zandy was exceptional, he went out of his way to explain the procedure to me in detail not once, but twice. The staff are all friendly and I feel comfortable and confident with my dog in their care. Also; the price for that many dental extractions was half the price as the other place I received a quote from. I would highly recommend this animal hospital to anyone.

I am so happy as I just picked up my very healthy kitty today!! After 4 long days at the hospital he is back to his sassy self! Please look at the negative reviews before bringing your pet here. Also note how the positive reviews can be suspiciously specific and defensive. After our experiences here, I would not leave my pet in this place alone. They basically forgot to do an entire procedure, despite it being mentioned 3 times (in person, by e-mail, on a form). We also brought our dog in for a scheduled appointment, and they phoned four hours later asking for information about the procedure (which was provided already). What were they doing for four hours?? TL;DR - Don't trust this place.

This clinic was available for walk-in traffic for an emergency situation on a Saturday when I could not get an appointment with my regular veterinarian. I tried multiple other clinics that were also fully booked and was referred to this clinic, which I didn't know existed. They are located nearby in the west end and were very professional and thorough with their service and follow-up. I would recommend this clinic and would bring my dog here again.

Awful experience. I took my cat in for an emergency appointment and was recommended a series of expensive treatments and medication. The medication made my pet throw up and when I called back to see about alternatives or if that was even a normal reaction, I never heard from anyone. I received blood work and didn’t hear from a vet for an additional 2 days to explain the results and was again recommended a bunch of additional tests. Needless to say I found an amazing vet elsewhere and we managed to treat the problem with diet (without the $1000+ in tests). Would never recommend this place.

This was our 2nd time going to the clinic. Our 1st was an emergency grape swallowing where everything was explained in terms or process and cost. The follow up was unexpected but so appreciated, as the vet truly cared. I felt comfortable calling with any concern or question. We took her back to them for her spay procedure over our local vet. Their cost was nearly 1/2 of our normal vet. Again, everything was explained and no hidden costs. Our puppy was taken in and I knew she would be cared for well. Upon pick up the clinic was quite busy so I wasn't able to ask all the questions I wanted but I know I can call or email whenever. We are so pleased to have gone with them over our normal vet.

I was not happy with her current vet so I took a chance and called West Edmonton Animal Hospital and I am so glad I did. Even though it was our first time at the clinic all 4 of the staff we interacted with were kind and professional. The vets (Yes two at one time) were amazing. To know that a second opinion is just on the other side of the door (On a Sunday!) is reassuring. Maggie was obviously content with both Vets as she smiled and wagged her tail when she should have been in major pain. You all eased my mind and helped my girl and I will be forever grateful for that. I was also surprised by the cost of the visit it was completely reasonable which is typically not what we have become used to with such a large dog. No Emergency fee, No Sunday fee and I was able to get an appointment with in 12 hours. Maggie is still healing and doing well we look forward to our next visit. I am so glad I took a chance on driving 20 min away for a new vet! Totally worth the drive!

In the past I had Great service for my dogs. I sent sparkling reviews on social media and to people I work with, and highly recommended them. The vet I saw with mine was so friendly and treated us with respect. I think that their service is failing since the move to the new clinic. I did not once see a vet when I took my kitten in for neutering and asked that his ears be checked as he was a rescue from a garage with 14 kittens and I thought he had mites. I paid for the cytology, I paid for "their" choice of medication, and I paid for ear cleaning. I was told they only use tech's for the services of neutering and ear mites, and paid more for the ears than the cost of the neutering and cone. After calling a week later (thank you for the rude tones that day) I was told that they were dead and I would have to keep cleaning the dead ones out, this after I paid them to do it? I questioned if it was even done and treated and her reply "Well it says so on the invoice, so they must have" I wish I was her car sales person!! I contacted the clinic again recently to let them know that the "dead" mites were in fact fully active and I was again cleaning the ears. I have been advised only now that the treatment must not have worked and that I need to pay almost $80 more for treatment for the ears for him and also whatever they charge for each dog based on their weight. Clearly their "choice" of treatment was not effective, or in my eyes even done. If you want "you get what you pay for" definitely go there, but remember if you love your pets, they deserve better

The reception staff are very friendly and personable but i'm giving a 2 star review because I brought my super sick cat in we got blood work done and the Vet ordered 5 different medications, my pet wasn't able to tolerate the meds so i brought her back we got xrays done i'm now $700 in and the vet still has no idea whats happening. Every time i call the clinic to book a follow up or even just to ask a question i am on hold for at least 10-15 minutes. my pets health has declined so significantly over the past few days and I feel like i can't get ahold of anyone every time i call. I also am disappointed that i've spent $700 already with no clue or even idea as to whats going on. My animal is acutely sick and i was encouraged to try different foods.

I have to dispute some of the negative reviews because my experience has been pretty good. The person who said doesn't listen and issues with meds, if you knew any better why bother going to a vet. It may happen the doctor thinks it is one thing and instead another. The other about not getting a call when it is 24hr vs 5 days, then call them. They are busy and a miss call does happen. I've had a cat and now two dogs. I think yes their busy and may not call, but I just call and follow up. The care is great, price is reasonable and the doctors are great with my pets. I'd recommend this place.

Cheapest vet in town, and very quick service. Excellent hours as well! The only thing I don't enjoy is that this vet does feel a bit industrial in that they get you in and out fast, and it doesn't quite have that personal touch I was used to previously. However, you can't complain too much when they beat every other vets prices by substantial amounts( paid $600 for x-rays, blood tests, anaesthesia and dental on my cat while I was quoted $2000 at my other vet for the same service).

The vet told me that she will call me before drugging my dog if needed, prior to his ultrasound. She failed to do so. It was only after his ultrasound that she told me she had drugged him, and she laughed that he was "high" and drooling. She failed to even tell me the name of the drug she used, so I had no idea what he was on. She was easily distracted and in my view she did not appear to take her job seriously. She actually said to me, "Sorry, what were we talking about?" after just telling me my dog has a potentially life-threatening situation. I had to call the office several times, since she did not provide me with her written notes and assessment. I wanted to get a second opinion with another vet, and asked for the x-rays and ultrasound to be sent to me. I was promised that the x-rays will be sent via email, but I still had not received it. It was only after calling the office again and again that they finally sent them to me. So disappointed with the unreliable service.

I found Edmonton West Animal Hospital while in my search for an affordable vet clinic for my dog’s dental surgery as the previously place we went quoted us well over $2,000. From the get go, everyone I dealt with was so responsive, helpful, and kind! I have had unfortunate luck at 3 other vet clinics in the city and this one blew me out of the water with how professional and caring they are as they treat all the pets and owners like family! I had an emergency arise with my dog between the free consultation and the surgery and they were so accommodating and helpful to get her in and take care of that. My dog has always been an nervous patient at vet offices and she feels much more comfortable here than anywhere else we’ve been in 9 years. From the receptionists, vet assistants, and vets, Edmonton West Animal Hospital has an incredible team and I highly recommend them!! Thank you all for making that such a seamless experience and for being our new forever clinic!

10/10 recommend this vet clinic. They have been so kind and caring with my Siamese cat even when he was being not-so-nice. They are very patient and understanding. I highly recommend. As well, you can’t beat their prices for fixing either (for male cats anyway). They were $400 less than what I was quoted at my prior regular vet clinic.

They are very good the only thing is right now a little understaffed and I totally understand it’s because of covid but they seemed really busy and rushed . I also wasn’t to impressed with the complementary nail trim as when I got home I was looking at my cats paws and there was some dried blood on them because her nails were cut a little to short . But other then that I will recommend.

Every time I have gone to this vet it has been a positive experience. All of the staff are really knowledgable and make you feel that your pets are in good hands. Their pricing is also very fair. I always recommend this place to my friends with pets! The only reason i did 4 stars, is because recently i brought my cat in to be examined for a possible URI, and since my cat was too aggressive/scared to even come out of his kennel, there was absolutely no physical exam done. I left with medication to try (which worked!!). And paid for the medication. I explained that i didnt think i should have to pay the $100 exam fee since all that happened was me getting a prescription . they gave me 50% discount which i appreciate, but i still dont think i should have paid $50 for getting a prescription, when they usually charge $15 to get one. anyway, overall great place. Just wish I didn’t have to pay $120 just for meds.

We have been going to this vet for three years for our beloved fur baby, Chris the cat. Not only have they helped us navigate the ins and outs of caring for an elderly cat dealing with renal failure, they have made every effort to ensure Chris' on going quality of life and continuing care. Sadly we had to bring him to the vet one last time to cross the Rainbow Bridge to the Pearly Gates. Dr. Sharma and his team showed unending compassion, empathy and support throughout this horrible process. Even though we obviously did not want to go through this, I am glad we went to Edmonton West. I have revised my review as Dr Menjivar has responded that she will pursue legal action for defamation. That was not my intent, I was trying to express my side of things as Caesar and I were the ones that went through this traumatic experience. Please reach out to me if you would like to know what happened in detail and for information on my conversations with the ABVMA. In my opinion, I would never take my pet here again and I think folks should read this prior to making their decision in seeing the this clinic as well. While in dental surgery, more than 70% of Caesar's back was burned. I was not told the cause from the ABVMA or the clinic but Dr Menjivar states it was from equipment malfunction which I did not know about until now. I’m not sure how she confirmed it was equipment malfunction, no proof was provided. The pictures only show the visible burns where the skin and fur fell off, the burns were more extensive that what can be shown through pictures. I submitted a complaint to the ABVMA but unfortunately, they dismissed it. The ABVMA I guess, could not have condemned for equipment malfunction (which again they did not say anything about equipment malfunction) but should have for lack of aftercare. The doctor took no responsibility for what happened to Caesar and to this day has never apologized. Caesar suffered severely for months and I would stay awake most of the night with him for months, sleeping on the floor with him, as he was unable to sleep through the excruciating pain. The clinic and doctor refuse to admit any wrong doing with aftercare. I had reached out to her and explained if anything even as light as a feather touches Caesar’s back he yelps in excruciating pain. This should have been a red flag for a doctor. She said I could come see him if the pain does not subside within the next day or so and assured me she would see him herself. When I called for an appointment as the pain was only increasing, the clinic told me Dr Menjivar was not even scheduled to work and can’t see him. So I saw another vet at the clinic which dismissed it as a pulled muscle and gave some pain killers. I followed up again as I started to notice some redness/dark discoloration in his back. I sent pictures to the clinic, they usually respond very fast. To this day no one has responded. After being frustrated from the lack of after care and seeing the excruciating pain Caesar was in, I made the decision to see another clinic and vet with empathy and care for animals. They took the proper time to analyze Caesar, it took some time but they were able to figure out Caesar had thermal burns. The ABVMA completely understood why I didn’t want to follow up with Dr Menjivar or the clinic after receiving this shocking news. Dr Ghosal apologized and showed sincere concern for what happened to Caesar when he found out, but nothing from Dr Menjivar.

I took my kitten in to get spayed. We were treated very well. They kept me updated on her progress and were reasonably priced. The spay was $129.00. We got a microchip inserted for $45.00. And her rabies shot was $25.00. We also got 3 extra days of pain meds for $21.00. They trimmed her nails for free as a bonus. The staff were nothing but kind and respectful at all times which I appreciated since I was feeling sorry for my kitty!!!! I will definitely utilize their services moving as they are in a very convenient location for me too. The building is new and modern and very clean. We are happy customer's of the Edmonton West Animal Hospital and have no issues recommending to others???????? P.S. Tip...buy your cat a newborn onesie and cut the arms, legs and butt out and put on your kitten and then put a harness over it. Saved my kitten the awful experience of the cone???? You can also buy surgical suits online designed especially for cats and dogs. Would love to see vets sell these as an option to the dreaded cone!!!

Excellent service! I had my 2 kitties Zeppelin and Meadow fixed and they were super informative on the procedure and aftercare. Meadow has a high blood cell count and the doctor called me and gave suggestions on what to do. They genuinely care about your pets and make you feel welcome soon as they come to greet you. Like many many pet owners, I'm sure, we have had our share of sudden needs to get to the vet. The team at Edmonton West Animal Hospital has always been so kind and accommodating, even with late evening appointments. Our dogs are never afraid to go in. We have had wonderful treatments, and when treatment was not necessary we were told so, rather than be surprised by expensive unnecessary bills. Whomever it is that answers their emails during the day is always so nice when I email in a question about something from a previous appointment or about their meds. It's so nice to see my dogs not stressed from a visit. I highly recommend this team to everyone I know who loves their pets as much as I love mine.

I'd highly recommend this place. I went with two pugs who were not at all on good behaviour when we got there. The Vet we saw was very understanding and patient with them. She checked out both dogs thoroughly, vaccinated them. Talked me through some other health issues they'd been having and gave some great recommendations. The office itself was lovely and very clean. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly and helped manage my dogs upon checking in and out. Also worth mentioning is how reasonable the prices were, much more affordable than other vets we've seen in the city which is awesome, good to know some clinics really are putting our pets before profit.

I absolutely love the staff and care that I’ve received for my pets here. Previously, I was quoted $2800 for a dental surgery (tooth extraction) from a different place and decided to take my dog here after a negative experience with the staff at that clinic. Edmonton west absolutely exceeded my expectations (and cost was much less than my previous estimate). They even neutered my dog during this procedure so he would only have one recovery. Amazing, amazing experience & I will be taking both of my dogs here from now on!

They genuinely care. The prices are reasonable compared to other clinics. My dog ran under a lazy boy and the metal joint severed off the end of his tail. Not only did they stay open and waited for us when we called right at closing time (it was after 9pm), they gave pain medication right away and booked my pup for surgery the next day. His surgery went perfect and I felt comfortable that my dog was in good hands. Props to this clinic
