It breaks my heart to leave a bad review of this clinic, having brought our animals there for around 20 years. However, things have changed with new ownership - something which hasn't been advertised. Unfortunately, the kind, caring vets & vet techs are being undermined by poor administrative support and a distinctly different business ethos. We've discussed the most recent incident with our (now former) vet, and he was very understanding and regretful, but that doesn't change the fact that it appears clients can't depend on compassionate, quick and dependable service anymore. We could not get past reception for three days, and were spoken to rudely and with zero care for our pet's health. Eventually had to take our cat out to the Pierrefonds Animal Hospital where he had to be immediately put to sleep. This debacle would never have happened in the past, and as such I felt the obligation to warn others, especially long-time clients who may not be aware of the change in ownership. This was not the first run-in we have had in the past year with disorganized, unhelpful and ill-informed reception/admin staff, and as such we'll be going elsewhere from now on. A serious shame, as I'm sure many clients will be jumping ship as they come to experience the new atmosphere. What a waste of good will and client loyalty - until this all started, we were singing the praises of this clinic to any friends/family with pets.

My kitten was treated carelessly. Dr maccay didn’t even remember to write down her weight during her first examination. She was very sick after they prescribed her medicine for ring worm. Did not give me any information about sanitizing the environment. I had to find that information on YouTube. She was vomiting yesterday. I called and asked for a vet tech to call me back TWICE. Nobody called me. This morning my kitten started fading and began to have seizures. I had to bring her to another vet and by that time all we could do to ease her pain was to euthanize her. They couldn’t find 2 minutes to call me back. I have spent hundreds of dollars a there for multiple pets. I had been a client for a long time. This could have costed my kittens life. BE EXTREMELY VIGILANT IF YOU DO BRING YOUR PET HERE BECAUSE THE STAFF IS NOT VIGILANT.

The team looked after my very sick dog in an exemplary manner. It is one of the only veterinary clinic in Montreal that is not "pushy" compared to exams or expensive medication. After six decades of dog ownership, I've seen more than my fair share of vets, and I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Isabelle Poulin. She is passionate, caring and came highly recommended for her surgical skills by our oncologist. After meeting her for the first time, I was reassured to go ahead with surgery. Over the last ten months, she has successfully removed a spleen with a large tumour attached, a smaller tumour in a delicate location and an aggressive oral melanoma in two separate operations. She took great care using a local anesthetic so my 12-year old terrier didn't need too much general anesthetic and closing up like an expert seamstress to preserve Riley's smile.

This place has been my dog's vet for the past 7 years, but I will no longer bring her there. I called them up because I noticed my dog's teeth were rotting, so the clinic told me to bring her in. Upon inspection they did confirm the teeth were rotting BUT can't fix it because they don't have a vet in their staff to do teeth extraction. Instead they referred me to a outside specialist who is too overqualified for such a simple procedure and quoted too much. I called around 3 other vets in the area and they all were able to do the procedure in-house and quoted much less. I essentially wasted $80 bringing my dog to the animal health clinic. They should told me before coming in to go to a different clinic because they don't have a Vet in their staff able to do such a procedure.

I have a cat that suffers from a chronic respiratory issue and will always have to take a particular medication for the remainder of his life. They know that yet after seeing him before giving the prescription. After that they insist on another visit before giving me the medication. So $180 + the medication every time I have to renew his medication. I believe it’s called blackmail/extortion ???? I had to go elsewhere to get his medicine. That vet knows his condition and will prescribe it every month for him without holding the medication hostage! His long time vet knew this too and gave the medication without hesitation. Sadly he retired. So I had to find a new vet. But these guys, it’s all about the ???? money!

We've tried 4 different vet offices in the area and we like this one the best. Our dog has had two urgent cases, one for a systemic infection and the other for an intestinal blockage and the care and service was caring and thorough. Their prices seem to be quite fair, and I don't get the feeling that we are being nickel and dimed when we are there. I would give 5 stars if we could consistently be followed by the same doctor, but that said we've also felt well serviced by all of the doctors we've seen.

I've been going to the Animal Health Care Clinic for over 10 years to have my cats taken care of. The staff is knoweldgeable, courteous and professional. I have never had to wait long to see a veterinarian when I have an appointment, and they are good at seeing my cats at short notice when something unplanned happens. The treatments are priced fairly. The examination rooms are nice and It's usually easy to find parking close by. The clinic has prescription food for cats that is pricey compared to the brands in supermarkets, bit my cats are so much healthier since I switched to the the premium food, so it's worth it.

Truly THE best medical experience ( human or otherwise ) I've ever had. They were professional, considerate and had great " bed side manner". Dr Katie Mackay was considerate of our financial situation without us even mentioning it. She went above and beyond to make sure that she did everything in her power that we were taken care of and that Migo ( our cat) was taken care of in the least invasive ( and expensive) way possible. Her staff was sweet, informative and understanding. We called as nervous and questioning cat parents several time and they never got impatient and always gaves us all the information we needed. thank you thank you thank you ! I have been this clinic 4-5 times and with all due respect I have to say - NO to their service. 1st time I went this clinic, they pushed me ordering some expensive exams and meds for one of my dogs. I stopped the treatment 2nd day, and my dog was doing just fine. Well, everybody likes money. I have learned my lesson. 3rd time I went there for my dogs' regular vaccine shots, they claimed they had an emergency service with a big dog, so my appointment was late for 2 HOURS. OK, it was fine, some dog had bad time, and I could wait. Oh, BTW, at the end of my 3rd appointment, I asked them if they would call me for the vaccine shots next year, they said "YES". They would call me before to confirm the appointment, but they didn't. When I realized my dogs vaccines were already expired(because one of my dogs got sick rushed to the emergency hospital), I called them instead. Everybody makes mistakes, I understand.... Finally, let us talk about what happened when my dogs needed emergency. That was difficult. A week ago, one of my dogs had bad time. When I called them, they told me that they had emergency service, but they only opened till 5pm and that was 4:15pm. Even though I told them I could be there in 10 minutes, and I was already driving. They still refused me. :( A week later, when the other of my dog was very sick, and I called them around 230pm. They told me they DO NOT have any emergency service AND their appointment was full. :O I called them back at 3pm, and I told them I had seen them taking emergency before, then it turned out they had time at 320pm after all... during the conversation, the unwillingness of treating my dog is well expressed. I can take a hint. Thinking about what happened the first time, how confusing their service seems like, and their unwilling attitude, I try my luck with other clinics. Bakers seems provide excellent service according to reviews. :D Wish me luck! Finally, I want to thank everyone who finish my review. I know it is long and maybe too detailed. The reasons why I am doing this is because I love my dogs so so sooooo much, and I just want what the best of them. I wish you all the best and none of my experience with this clinic will ever happen to anyone of you! Good luck!

Vet said my cat had to go under to stitch up an open abscess wound. The process seemed very invasive and painful for the nature of this wound, and I was told I did not have any other realistic options...I did not buy that for a second, as my cat has had abscesses before. The quote was also estimated to be a ridiculous amount. Took a while to get the vet to suggest something else and less invasive, such as a topical antibiotic and cleaning the wound everyday. I went with the latter, and my cat healed just fine, without having to go under. I am all about doing the right thing for my beloved pet, but putting my cat under seemed absolutely unnecessary and invasive for an issue that healed very well without anesthesia. I've been to this vet many times, and the more I go, the more I realize their pockets are more important than my cat's well-being. Not coming here anymore. RE: Clinic states my claims are unsubstantial in the comment below; for privacy reasons, I choose not to display my full name on my google account. Thus, I have been a client at the AHC, and am entitled to write this honest review.

While I have only had a couple of visits with my kitten, I appreciate the friendliness and professionalism of everyone on staff. As a new patient, they did their best to accommodate me sooner when a problem arose before my first appointment. The receptionists make sure to call you beforehand reminding you of your visit. The vets are helpful and in good spirits, ensuring to give me all the information needed as I cannot be in the room during the appointment (due to covid restrictions).

Superb service, super knowledgable people, caring animal lovers and are always accomodating! They remember their clients and pets, its always a personalized experience here. They go above and beyond in answering any questions regarding your animals health, or diet and follow-up in a timely manner. Our kitten had a scare when he ended up with crystals in his urine, and the vet immediate did everything he can to diagnose and treat our kitty right away, including an ultrasound. He identified the problem being the over proteinated diet, and once we adjusted our kitten's diet he got better within 1 week and a half. We did a follow-up and all crystals dissappeared from a second ultrasound. Payment plans are flexible as well depending on the treatment done on your pet.

Really great clinic!!! I came here for an appointment to get my dog neutered and everyone was really friendly and helpful and willing to answer any questions I had about the procedure and potential costs. Going to the vet is always pretty expensive but in comparison to other clinics, most vets I have seen add fees for every little thing, which usually ends up giving you an even bigger bill than you anticipated, this place DID NOT do this, which was fantastic. My dog had her surgery and everything was done very well and she seems to be recovering very well. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone in the area with a dog. They handled my big crazy energetic dog like she was a shitzu and they have very convenient timing for appointments!! 5 stars across the board ;)

Dr. Seto is an exceptional vet. He is very knowledgeable, caring and remembers everything about our cat and her complex history. We drive in from the west island to see him because he is so good. He is one of the rare vets I've met that is equally good with animals (they stay calm in his presence) and humans (he always involves my daughter in the visits). You never feel rushed, and never feel like you are asking a stupid question. He doesn't immediately turn to expensive meds and tests, but is not flippant about treatments. He is excellent at suggesting lifestyle, diet/natural remedies as a first pass treatment. Our cranky diabetic cat with behaviour issues even likes him, and that is saying something.

How to start this? How about Dr. Isabelle Poulain is the best, most empathic, professional and dedicated veterinarian you and your animals could hope for. She has saved the lives of two of my cats and countless others we have sent her way. (we are in animal rescue) She gives up her lunch hour to operate, she stays late for emergencies she takes in wild animals and raises them when they are orphaned, she gives her time and skills to wild live sanctuaries and rescue group. Her surgery skills are unparalleled as is her warm and friendly nature. I trust her with my fur babies. I can give no greater compliment than that. I am adding to my initial rating because I was in the waiting room this morning when Elina Lima, who just left a terrible review, treated Dr. Isabelle Poulain in the rudest way possible, calling her names and threatening a bad google review, all because Dr. Poulain would not give the city of Montreal a paper with a fake reason so miss Lima could leave her dog unspayed. The man accompanying her was incredibly abusive to the staff as well. I come home and look up the reviews and sure enough I find hers. I had to say something because this clinic should not be penalized because of Dr. Poulain's honesty. Miss Lima was awful, rude and acting like a spoiled brat who was not getting what she wants. Shame on her for writing this review under false pretenses. Tell me Miss Lima, will you abuse your dog as well when she won't obey?

Honestly probably one of the best vets in Montreal! Their prices are much more reasonable than any other clinic i've been to. My tom cat nearly passed away from a urine blockage and they saw him right away even tho I didn't have an appointment. My kitty was hospitalized for about 4 days and they knew i couldn't afford to spend thousands of dollars, so they worked with my budget. This place honestly cares more about the animals than the money, staff is very nice and I don't think i'll ever change vets quite frankly!

I have been to several vets depending on where we live at the time. I really like this vet. They arent pushy, they so far have always offered the cheapest treatment available first. They come off as really honest. I am sure it depends on which vet sees you, but I have seen 2 different veterinarians at their clinic and both were great.

It's been 14 years that I've been going to the Animal Health Clinic in NDG with my cats and dog. When my dog had a life-threatening back injury we were lucky that I could take him to see Dr. Gilmore who over the years I had grown to trust completely in his knowledge, and compassion care. ❤ He has also at times informed me when a treatment isn't necessary, or respectfully helped me weigh treatment options. At times making treatment decisions can be so difficult. So having a vet that you trust completely makes all the difference.

This clinic gives great service and are even open on weekends. They were able to treat my cat Toby on a Saturday. He had a blood infection and needed medication. I was seen the day I called. In 24 hours, my 16 year old Toby was as good as ever. Weekend malaises happen to me often, forcing me to go to a 24 hour hospital. Usually 3 times the cost. Thank you everone at this clinic especially Dr. Zapata, for a good diagnosis and a perfect treatment plan. We are lucky to have such a good clinic.

I have mixed feelings. I needed "Revolution" for my cats but the clinic would not sell it because they haven't seen my cats for a while. They would not see the cats because at that time they did not accept patients. They would not put me in contact with any doctor who treated previously my cats in their clinic. Still the doctors there are good. They even have a dentist. One of my cats just had some teeth removed and everything went well. The clinic is clean and has a large choice of cat and dog food.

Last week we brought our cat Abby to see Dr. Seto, she had been acting odd and was not eating. She was hospitalized for a week and her condition was quite serious. Since she is now getting better I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the Animal Health Clinic (AHC). Everyone we interacted with from the receptionists, to the animal care technicians, to Drs. Seto and Drooker were truly amazing. During the week Abby stayed at the AHC myself and/or my husband visited regularly in the morning and evening, as a result we we able to interact with most if not all of the animal care technicians. On each visit we were made to feel welcome and never in the way. We were also given updates on Abby's behaviour throughout the day. Each person we spoke to seemed to genuinely care about Abby's well-being and made every effort to make her comfortable. I have nothing but good things to say about Abby's wonderful care givers. I am not great with names and fear I will miss someone so I will not list everyone individually but know that if you interacted with Abby I thank you for your kindness and professionalism. In addition to the animal care staff we extremely lucky to have both Dr Seto and Dr Drooker oversee the care of Abby. Both are clearly very skilled veterinarians and true animal lovers. Both Dr. Seto and Dr Drooker spoke with me and my husband about Abby's condition and medical needs on numerous occasions. Not once did I get the impression that they had anything but Abby's best interests at heart. We are so lucky to have found the AHC.

I have been to the clinic three times now and every time the service has been great. I took my kitty to have her eye checked, because it looked irritated. Long story short. Doctor Andrea did a full examination and made some recommendations re. blood test to check her kidneys, eye drops, a gel for constipation, shifting to senior food. She explained every single issue clearly and I agreed and followed all of her recommendations, including blood test which I decided to get done right away, since we were already there. The bill came to just over $400 (reasonable) for full examination, prescription, blood test, and a happy healthy kitty. On a side note, staff and clients seem all very chill, so there is a nice mood in the place. One leaves content.

Dr.Poulin is so top notch and she gave me the best advice for my 12 year old pug with periodontal disease. We had been medicating his breath, but the the meds stopped working. She suggested giving him pre and post antibiotics and removing the cavity creep teeth and with a few post sedative and nerve pain killers Tucker only had 2 days of recovery, by day 3 he was running and playing again after dental surgery!!! His ear infection also cleared up. My dog is healthier and happier because of the dedicated work of this great clinic. It's a bit far from me in the old port, but I don't mind paying a taxi to get the best care. <3

I used to live up the street from this vet, and so naturally it was the first place we checked out. We were decidedly unimpressed with how our cat was (man)handled the first time years ago, but every other time since then has been excellent. The front staff is very courteous, and Dr. Louvet is fantastic -- knowledgable, compassionate, and professional. We now live on the other side of town and still make the trek over, because Dr. Louvet is that good. Vet procedures are never really cheap. But at least for that area, it's not more expensive than the alternatives. So, until our cat is fully out of the woods (and even then), we will probably keep coming back here despite the distance.

It's with regret that I give such a low rating for this clinic. They are professional, polite and I know they care. However, despite my having 4 dossiers with them ( three cats and one dog) it has been three times that they have not had enough room for either emergencies or simple nail cuttings. 1. my old cat had terrible teeth problems and was not eating. When I asked if I could have an appointment to check her teeth, they gave me an appointment 2 and a half weeks later. She was unable to eat and despite me saying this, they said this was all they had. I went to another vet who saw her on the spot and operated on her the next day. 2. My dear old cat with multiple toes was in desperate need of a nail clipping because they were piercing his paw. They gave me an appointment weeks later - all I needed was a technician. When I said this was unacceptable and that I would have to find another vet, the receptionist said, "yes, I would suggest you find another vet" ... which I did - same vet as above, my old vet from off the island. 3. Same cat with multiple toes - this past Tuesday (it's Thursday tonight), I came home to find him unable to walk. I phoned the Animal Health Clinic and despite the obvious emergency said they had no availability. On the same phone call, another tech came on the phone and said that they did not accept emergencies. I have FOUR dossiers with them. I have been with them for years. I took my dear cat to another vet (same as above) who saw him on the spot and I had to put him down Tuesday night. High blood pressure and racing heart resulting in multiple strokes - enlarged heart. He was 18 years old. I am quite disgusted and terribly, terribly disappointed with this clinic. It is obvious that they care more to fill their appointment sheet and it is obvious that they cannot accommodate their own clientele..... humans, I mean. They are forgetting about their real clients, the animals. I am disgusted with their philosophy of saying to me go elsewhere... so I suggest to you - you, too, go elsewhere if you are thinking about going the Animal Health Clinic simply because it is a convenient vet in NDG. There are more humane vets elsewhere.

The clinic is very caring when you are in person with capable and kind vets and vet techs. I'd love to give a better rating based only on that aspect. TLDR: Difficult to speak to someone, difficult to schedule appointments, information on your pet is not readily available and mixed messages on how to proceed for scheduling appointments. However, I am incredibly disappointed time and time again with scheduling appointments and mixed messages. Aside from it always being difficult to schedule appointments in the past because it is a busy clinic, I am finding the clinic to be unreliable. My recent experience started with bringing my 2 cats in for wellness checks. One became ill shortly before the checkup and was treated accordingly. I was told that despite the systems being down I would hear back the following day regarding her labs/blood work. I did not hear back. I could not get in touch with anyone either. Following day I did get in touch, but no one was able to provide information on the lab work because the Vet who saw Pixel was not in. All ended well enough when I finally heard 3 days later and there was no emergency. I then asked about the lab results for my other cat, Luna, as it was written on my receipt and I had paid for her as well despite not knowing she was going to have blood work done. Turns out I didn't know because they didn't do it...but reception had no idea due to systems being down. It took a week of no responses to my inquiries before I finally heard back that I was correct and a refund would be provided. Again, things happen, I'll let that slide. I asked how far in advance to schedule for Luna's follow up vaccine booster and was informed I could definitely call back a week before it was needed to schedule an appointment. I asked to verify and was told it wouldn't be a problem. Last straw - this morning I called because our 3rd cat, a newly adopted kitten of 12 weeks has an irritated eye. I know this can be a sign of infection. I wasn't asked who I was or anything about my pet because "We are booked until the end of October. Please call at 8am tomorrow to see if there is a cancellation, otherwise I can refer you elsewhere". What happened to me being able to call a week ahead for Luna's follow up? Am I to expect that she won't be seen? Polite and caring is wonderful, but the run around and mixed messages have turned me off. I am seeking another vet clinic to see my pets and recommend others to do the same. Especially after reading so many reviews with similar issues even prior to their system outage and prior to the pandemic. I'm sad to leave such wonderful care, but it seems care only applies when you are currently in the clinic.

I've been with them for less than a year, I went cus my cat needed a surgery and I don't want to go back to her old vet cus they have different vets for every visit and they don't seem experienced (one of them was very rude which triggered me to change place). My dog passed away because of Dr. Catalina zapata's misjudgment. When I was explaining all the detailed symptoms about my dog, she didn't really know that what kind causes made my dog being suffered. (Unsure for everything, said all speculative diagnosis, suggested to do x-ray but even she gave up for doing because my dog struggled too much). Then she gave me some medicine which were really useless then let us go back home. The day I met this doctor, my dog's condition was very critical so I went another hospital and doctor there diagnosed my dog had slip disk without any medical treatment just based on my explanation and my dog's behavior one that I explained exactly the same to Dr.zapata. Additionally, the doctor, who works at another hospital, told me that it was really common thing that beagle(the type of my dog)could get due to their body shape. When I heard about this I doubted zapata's ability of vet and she has not had enough experience to figure out . If she didn't know, she should have told me frankly and suggested me to visit other hospitals rather than just continued to keep on eyes on him. I wasted my dog's precious one day, he eventually died. (Slip disk has to be treated as early as possible, the time is really matter and important, if not the dog gets waist-down paralysis or gets a big shock to die).I really don't know why I paid the high consultation fee which made my dog being suffered more and eventually dragged him to be died. I want to spread this story so that other ppl won't have the same experience that I had. Other than that, receptionists were very professional, they had high understanding that how to deal with emergency situations.

This was my vet for my previous dog for the last 7 years and I did not have any complaints with their service. However, I have adopted another dog in October, a rescue and had him sterilized in December as the law stated it had to be done by Jan 2020. Before sterilization he was very calm and played well with other dogs at the dog park and in the street, however, after sterilization his behavior changed towards other dogs drastically - though every other behavior is fine, to humans etc. It's a night and day comparison. Dogs he was friendly toward then, now he shows aggression and many times I have had to remove him from the dog park, and walking him on the street is a challenge as I have to avoid other dogs. Before sterilization he was very friendly and didn't bark at all. I googled it, and I know I should't believe anything i see online, but it actually seems to be possible that dogs, will become more aggressive or show aggression after sterilization when they did not before. I emailed them to let them know that this is happening and asked then if they had any resources or if they could suggest trainers to try and help this behavior. I got a voicemail (in French when my email was English, no biggie, but y'know customer service and all) back that basically said that, its not possible that castration causes his aggression and that I should "just not go to the dog park". No other help was offered. I was pretty disappointed from the response and would have appreciate some guidance or help like I asked for. I mentioned this in my response and they have yet to answer. I will go to another Vet from now on. It seems like if its not something they can fix with me paying, its not their priority.

My furbaby of 12 years old who had cancer started convulsing this weekend to the point she was really suffering. It broke my heart to see that and decided to have her cross the rainnow bridge . The decision was hard but could no see my 3 pounds yorkie suffer like that. I hadn't slept in 3 nights caring for her as paliative as my regular vet suggested. It was horrible and I wrote to my vet who close during weekends, and she said to come tomorrow monday or to find another clinic if pain became too much. As the day went by My dog was getting close to the end and suffering more. I realised I couldn't wait for the next day. I googled clinics open on sunday and was attracted by this one with great reviews. I was in total panic when I called, and after i explained the situation they accepted my baby eventhough I was not a regular client. They received me eventhough I was crying loud for furbaby. They installed us and talked to me and took good care of my baby who pased calmly under the expert hands of the vet. My baby left without a noise over the rainbow bridge.. Even though I was in great sadness, i am very grateful for this amazing clinic and staff and would recomand it to anyone who wants a good place. The place is welcoming .They offered for cremation and urnes. Going back to get it in 14 days . thank you so much for everything.Dr Poulin and staff. Be assured of my gratitude for Gracy and I. I *was* a huge fan of this vet clinic. As you consider the reviews below, I would strongly urge you look at the dates. I fully understand that we are currently in a pandemic making many things more difficult but it is impossible to get an appointment here anymore. At the end of the summer I was given a 3 month wait for a shoulder injury, today I called about an abscess (time sensitive) and was referred to an emergency clinic. Again, I understand we are in a pandemic, but they appear to have closed the Annex which used to be an incredible resource and given it is an *entirely separate building* would address issues related to proximity. There is no doubt that the care they provide is outstanding - if you can get it - but I don't see the point in having a regular vet if it impossible to get in to see them. It's with a heavy heart I'll be looking for a new vet because exceptional care is pointless if you can't get an appointment.

My chihuahua coco is now 12 years old , 3 years ago he started limping and was more and more disinterested in walking . 2 years ago he could barely walk a few meters before sitting down to rest. After an examination from Dr. Poulin she concluded that coco has severe osteoarthritis. She has been treating him since with a mix of oral supplements (i hide in his food) and injections. All i wanted was to keep him walking from his bed to his food bowl but to my surprise he now walks, is capable of climbing a few stairs and sprints around the house when he is happy. :) Needless to say, I'll be able to keep him for longer than expected . Amazing people ! I came in for an emergency c-section and spay for my cat and only paid $1095.00 compared to $4000.00+ at DMV emergency vets. Unfortunately all her babies were stillborn but she came home hungry and not in any visible pain. After waiting an hour, I met a young veterinarian who spent most of the consultation to tell me that my dog was "so ben cute" and that she saw no problem with her paw. After having insisted that she look better at her paw and asked if it was not the "anterior cruciate ligament" she told me that to look at it, it had to be that and that it should be given a strict rest period of 6 weeks (try to prevent a puppy from 6 months to move ...). With hindsight, I realize that I probably could have suggested any disease to her and she would have acquiesced. During the meeting, I felt that she was in a hurry, inexperienced and that she only thought of moving quickly to the next client. She did not even want to put my dog on the exam table to observe it. Another annoying point, she greeted me in French saying that it was ok that we speak in this language, at the end of the exam, I realized that she had understood nothing of what I told her (I had told her that my dog had fallen 3 days ago, but she did not remember this information in her diagnosis), so I had to explain her in English again. Seeing the condition of my dog worsening, I went to see a veterinarian at another clinic. According to him, the problem was obvious: dysplasia of the hip! And moderate exercise should have been maintained to maintain muscle mass! This vet took over an hour to examine my dog from head to toe and took the trouble to explain to me everything I needed to watch about my pet. It was while coming out of this appointment (which cost me half the price!) That I realized how much the staff of Animal Health Clinic had not been kind to my pet. Après avoir attendu une heure, j'ai rencontré une jeune vétérinaire qui a passé la majeure partie de la consultation à me dire que mon chien était "donc ben cute" et qu’elle ne voyait pas de problème à sa patte. Après avoir insisté afin qu'elle regarde mieux sa patte et demandé s'il ne s'agissait pas du "ligament croisé antérieur" elle m'a répondu qu'a bien y regarder, ça devait être ça et qu'il faudrait lui donner un repos strict de 6 semaines (essayez d’empêcher un chiot de 6 mois de bouger…). Avec le recul, je réalise que j'aurais probablement pu lui suggérer n'importe qu'elle maladie et qu’elle aurait acquiescé. Lors de la rencontre, j'ai sentie qu'elle était pressée, inexpérimentée et qu'elle ne pensait qu'à passer rapidement au prochain client. Elle n'a même pas voulu que l’on dépose mon chien sur la table d'examen afin de l’observer. Autre point agaçant, elle m'a accueillie en français en me disant que c'était correct qu'on parle dans cette langue, à la fin de l'examen, j'ai réalisé qu'elle n'avait rien compris de ce que je lui avais dit (je lui avais expliqué que mon chien était tombé 3 jours auparavant, mais elle n'avait pas retenu cette information dans son diagnostic), j’ai donc du tout lui réexpliquer en anglais. Voyant l’état de mon chien s’aggraver, je suis allée voir un vétérinaire dans une autre clinique. Selon lui, le problème sautait aux yeux : dysplasie de la hanche! Et l’exercice modéré aurait du être maintenu pour conserver sa masse musculaire ! Ce vétérinaire a pris plus d'une heure pour examiner mon chien de la tête aux pattes et s’est donné la peine de m'expliquer tout ce que je devais surveiller à propos de mon animal. C'est en sortant de ce rendez-vous (qui m'a coûté la moitié du prix!) que j'ai réalisé à quel point le personnel de Animal Health Clinic n'avait pas été attentionné envers mon animal.

Best vet in Montreal! would 100% recommend! In the past 3 months I took my cat to multiple vets due to a mass under his tongue that wasn't allowing him to eat or drink water properly. No one was able to tell me what he had and I just kept spending money on tests that kept coming back inconclusive. Hands-down the best vet clinic I have found anywhere. My worst / best story: I called with a dog in obvious need and pain at six pm this past week, after a local vet told me to take him to the dreaded animal hospital. The Clinic instead squeezed him in between two other appointments that evening and diagnosed gave treatment and kablam, out in 90 minutes and doggo was back in almost perfect form within about 12 hours. Top-notch customer service and kindness to boot. I cannot say enough positive things about this place. I've made three visits and the dog lives.

I normally don't provide reviews and I wish I could provide a higher rating. We took our miniature poodle to this clinic for his vaccines. During our second visit (puppy was 6 months old), I told the vet that the lower baby canines had not fallen and the adult canines had already erupted. I was told not to worry as the baby canines could be extracted at the same time as neutering at 8-9 months of age. I was able to get an appointment with another vet in St. Henri who told me that the baby canines had to be removed asap and since the adult canines were now more than 50% out, my puppy will very likely lose his adult canines as they have grown in the wrong place. He's almost 9 months old. I'm in the process of seeing a specialist to see if we have any options. I am writing this review in case it helps anyone with a similar issue.

Some time ago, my cat Bonnie was afflicted with urinary crystals which needed immediate treatment. Dr Peter Gomberg took the situation well in hand and made sure that Bonnie was eating the proper food and took her in for a second check up about a month later to see how she was doing free of charge. From the receptionists to the technicians, the service at this vet is outstanding and I feel that the prices are fair and don't take advantage of loving pet owners. Bonnie will continue to go to the Animal Health Clinic for years to come.

In terms of veterinary care, the animal health clinic has been great to us. They are always very kind to our dog, who loves to snuggle with everyone at the clinic who will let her. However, after her spay surgery, I was sent home with four syringes for pain medication, and was told to give my dog one per day for four days. She started having severe diarrhea and I thought this was strange as it continued into day 2. I checked the prescription more closely and did some research, only to discover that EACH dose of medication was FOUR TIMES the maximum dose for her size. Upon contacting the vet surgeon, Dr. Alex, in the middle of the night on Sunday, he was so gracious as to respond immediately and offer me a morning consultation and a free blood test. Thank goodness, the results were fine, but had I not noticed the incorrectly measured dosage, according to clinical studies this medication could have permanently damaged my dog's kidneys or even killed her, especially as she is still a baby. In sum, I am very happy with the way we were treated, even after this mistake. However, if anything was wrong with my dog, I certainly would not have been happy and would have pursued legal action. I do recommend these vets as they are great at their jobs, but the technician's mistake was unacceptable nevertheless, so I would suggest you review EVERY medication they give you and insist to learn about the potential side effects and get everything confirmed and double checked by the vet before you leave... and then check it again before you give it to your animal. We will continue to use the animal health clinic in the future, and I'm sure that they will understand that my honest review was necessary in this case, as my dog could have endured very unnecessary suffering if I had not noticed the mistake, and it is my duty to inform other families with animals of my experience. Moreover, I would like to add that, while several people that work at the clinic stopped by the room to check on my dog, the technician did not come by to offer apologies. Perhaps they were not available that morning, but I would have expected a courtesy call and a sincere apology at the very least.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Seriously. They misdiagnosed my cat over ten years ago with pemphigus foliaceus, even after charging me a considerable fee to perform a biopsy to "confirm the diagnosis." My cat suffered considerably for over a decade taking daily doses of prednisolone before a *competent* doctor in Boston told me that his symptoms didn't resemble pemphigus at all and that such a diagnosis could only have been given by a complete amateur. Turns out my cat required a simple course of antibiotics (4 weeks) to clear a common case of dermatitis. Again — if you care about the long-term well being of your pet, do *not* go here.

Dogs Rule

The vets and vet techs have been generally amazing in my 2 years going to them. Their receptionists not so much. I've had a few poor customer service experiences when calling for appointments or inquiries, which can really make or break your entire experience. 1). Had a medical emergency with my dog and was denied an appointment 'no room', cold and very unaccommodating. 2). Was charged that pesky $67 fee for my dog stepping foot into the building. No exam needed or done. How is this morally acceptable? I thought this clinic prided themselves in serving the public fairly, not gauging owners with BS fees. Worst part was when I called to speak to a manager the already rude receptionist proceeded to try to push an argument. Again, where are the customer service skills? Animal clinic or Best Buy, learn to speak to people in a polite and respectful manner. You are single handedly escalating situations that could be resolved in seconds using proper social skills. 3). I feed my dogs raw food. When my pup had started losing weight I was worried and called explaining my situation needing a consult to ensure he wasn't sick or having a bad reaction. Same rude receptionist claimed they had no 'pet nutritionists' on staff rather than booking me an appointment like a professional. Great vets, poor front staff.

I've had very good experiences with this vet but will never go back. I moved to Ottawa but couldn't get a quick appointment there so I brought my dog to this vet where she was seen before. My dog had an infected anal gland which was cathetized and drained without sedation (something my vet in Ottawa says is cruel and unnecessary), I could hear my dog screaming from the other room and when I took her to the vet today (unrelated) she had a full blown panic attack (she is a breeding dog from a puppy mill and already has severe anxiety due to the treatment she suffered there). Let me say, I've never had bad experiences at this vet before, I'm not sure if it was because it was a different vet (Dr.Mackay) but seeing how traumatized my dog was today was heart wrenching (she has never been afraid of the vet before nor does she ever make noise, let me tell you she panicked like I've never seen her do before). Another thing is when I was at the AHC for the infected anal gland appointment, Dr.Mackay shot my dog full of vaccines that she did not need (I didn't have the papers to prove shed already had them) nor did I give her permission to do so, it cost me 130$ extra. Ive heard from other people that this doctor has also given their animals unnecessary vaccines and I'm not thrilled about this vet anymore. It sucks to have to write this review because before this, I recommended this veterinary clinic to EVERYONE, we've brought so many animals there and referred so many people, it's a shame but seeing my sweet animal in a state of terror today made me very unhappy.

I absolutely love this clinic. Great staff, super educated and knowledgeable vets. There is none of that feeling if pressure or guilt when you don't agree to a procedure. The fact that they have an ultrasound is A HUGE bonus. Not all vets have this machine and they all should. One of their vets thought my cat may have a heart murmur and that his sneezing wasn't something to worry about when in reality he had a huge infection taking up the space of his entire left lung, he ended up in intensive care at the hospital just 2 weeks after our check up, where we learned that he must have had his infection for months. A few weeks later, our dog went for back pain, they gave us the wrong syringe for her anti inflammatory, she had 10 times the dose twice, which landed her in the hospital to prevent an overdose, which delayed her treatment and led to an operation.

2 of my pets have been followed by the clinic. All the vets are compasionate, and know when to direct you to a specialist if needed be. They will present you with all your options and will rarely send your pet for unnecessary tests if the vets don't deem them necessary. Great team!

People there are caring and give good service but like any animal health clinic the prices are high they will try to bamboozle you into spending money but that happens in any animal clinic however if you're looking for a place where people care and are conscientious this is a good place to go

Nice clinic with mostly great service. The last two times i went for a follow-up to an issue with my dog, the vet didn't charge me any visit fees, which I appreciated a lot. They are also not pushing medication unnecessarily and for the most part seem genuine about they healthcare practice. It's a busy clinic, so getting an appointment can sometimes be tricky and expect to wait-10-15 minutes for your turn even if you show up on time.

This place is amazing!!! The clinic took my sister and her beloved dog in without an appointment. My sister's dog was having cluster seizures????. They did everything they could to save my sister's fur baby in January. Unfortunately Taylor didn't make it????. The staff were so compassionate and understanding. I recommend this place 100%.

I brought my dog to this vet July 13, 2020 at 12:30pm. Something was wrong with my dog Blue. When I woke up Blue didn't come to me and he always comes to me when I wake up so I knew something was wrong with him. So I brought Blue the vet. He has been there before. In the car he looked like he was dying. I ran into the vet clinic and said I think my dog is dying please come to the car and see him. The women I don't know her name said you need an appointment. I said I understand but he looks like he's going to die please help me I was crying she said she will see if the vet can see him. Then she comes out and gives me a paper and said to go to the emergency clinic. I was so scared Blue would die. There was 3 clinics listed on the paper. Lachine was the closest we were driving looking for the clinic I was never there meanwhile Blue looks like he's dying his breathing was shallow then his tongue was hanging out of his mouth then he died right when we finally found the clinic. I ran in and said I think my dog died. They came out right away and the vet took him in the room. She came back 2 minutes later and said Blue died. This vet wouldn't even look at my dog when I said he was dying and then give me a paper with the wrong address. If they at least check him he might not have died. I understand that you need an appointment but this was an emergency I'm sure the person who would be waiting would understand. I'm heartbroken. I will never ever go to this clinic again The women who sent us away is in the wrong field of work.

Me Pilar Ortiz, I had the same problem with my dog’s theet (5 pounds ChineseCrest dog). My vet at that time was considering that it was way more healthy for my dog to keep them till her sterilization’s operation than putting a young dog under anastesia twice! I asked my own dentist his opinion and if health of an animal is at risk by waiting ? Do you Know that there are lots of adults (human) living with their babythoot still...as long as the theet is healthy. Sorry but I think the vet at Health Clinic was reasonnable and thinkink more about skipping and anestesia is BETTER for the young ANIMAL health. Plus, WE skipped an antibio serie. Sorry to tell you that the other vet was thinking more about his pocket $$$ than anything else?! So sad... My dog theeth were extract at same time than sterelization, she is perfectly fine and no theet problem. She ‘s now 8yold.

Our cat Hans was blocked and suffered from a Urinary Obstruction preventing him to pee. We were very worried as this happened during the weekend and it was threatening the life of our cat. Fortunately, the Animal Health Clinic is open on Sundays and they took him right away despite being completely booked, even if he didn't have a file there. The staff was very professional and we were amazed by how our cat was reacting well to their intervention desipte the pain and incomfort. We were very lucky because DRE. Isabelle Poulin managed to unblock him on the spot, saving us over a thousand dollars or treatments. The technicians were also very good at explaining every medication and the new diet that we had to follow. Finally, we were relieved to be able to bring our cat home on the same day, which is priceless! The costs, including the consultation, conselling, medication and new food were more than reasonable. Some vets can have a reputation of overcharging and taking you for a ride, especially during emergencies (it happened to us at Centre Vétérinaire Rive-Sud). Not this one! We definitely recommend this clinic!

This was the first time my dog has ever had to go to the vet and she had hurt her back and was showing an immense amount of pain. Completely stressed and terrified, I called them and they were able to see us within the hour. A huge thank you to the staff for being so lovely and making me feel calm and like my dog was safe in their hands. We will definitely return for any future appointments needed in the future.

I called the animal health clinic and told them that my dog was getting sick and lost his appetite. They made an appointment for the Thursday that week.(they should have told us to go to a hospital) We went for our appointment and they sent us to the hospital for the exams because they don't do that. (but still got charged for the 10 minute consultation). We went to the hospital and found out that our precious Rufus had a tumor in his intestine and needed surgery. The hospital contacted the animal health clinic with his info and they said they could only do the surgery the 25th of August, thats how soon they could do an emergency surgery. A surgery that we were told needed to be done asap, as in within the weekend not in 3 weeks. We managed to get a surgery booked for Monday with another vet in st jerome amidst not getting answers from other clinics. I called the animal health clinic on friday to have someone explain why they could not perform an emergency surgery sooner. I was told i would get a call back that afternoon from the vet or technician, which they never did. My boy passed away and we found him deceased saturday morning upon waking up. My wife and I are in so much pain. The Animal health clinic called me on sunday and left a message asking for an update on Rufus. An update, not even to call me back to answer my questions. We feel like we have been failed, we lost a member of our family and had to chase after vets for help and advice, we are not specialists, we did the best we could and paid every penny we had to take care of our buddy and now he's gone.

Could not overstate my satisfaction. I have never been to a vet clinic I felt comfortable trusting with my animals. Not only did they perform a miracle to save my cats leg, but I could tell the veterinary and the staff genuinely care for the animals in their care. When it came time to pay I was shocked to see how much they had helped me out in keeping he bill low. I would drive an hour out of my way to bring my animals here after the experience I had. I'd give them 10/5 if I could.

The staff at the desk are very nice and the vet that I met with was friendly and knowledgeable. My cat was very calm during the check-up so I gather she liked him too! Their pricing is very good. The only thing is they don't have a parking so if you're going by car you have to find a spot in the street nearby.

So what am I suppose to do, let me kids see my cat die in my house .it was a sudden thing but they are the ones who did tests on my cat and gave him a clean bill of health . I was told they would email me a list and to go find my own vet place .
