We have had to visit 48th Ave Animal Hospital frequently this last month as we are transporting a couple cats to New Zealand. All the staff and the Vet have been amazing and patient to help us through the process. Their advice has been helpful and have been very flexible with our needs (which can become difficult being that the country import laws in NZ being very strict And precise). All in all, Great rates and helpful friendly staff and barely a wait to get in with our appointment. We have been going here for years with all our furry family members and will continue! Don't forget about half price vaccination day every Wednesday!!

I like Dr. Sharma. I recently had an experience where my cat was diagnosed with FLUTD and they wanted to keep him for a few hours to get a urine sample from him... ( I should have been given non-absorbent litter first before keeping him in the clinic). 4 hours later they call me explaining they couldn't get a urine sample from him and that I could come and pick him up, but upon arrival I was handed my crusty pee covered cat. I asked why he was covered with pee and I was given a shrug. I expected at lease for them to wipe him down, but I was just given the bill. This was all experienced with one of the female Veterinarians, I do not know her name. My cat was hiding for hours and seemed traumatized from sitting in his urine for hours... I went back to Dr. Sharma that day to discuss a plan for my cat and to see what he had to say and he was completely informative and actually seemed to know what he was talking about and the new vet I have never seen before made me feel uneasy to go back there.. I have mixed feelings. They haven't even called the check up on him at all, which they used to be doing every time I brought them in for even a simple check up.

If you’d like to call yourself an animal “hospital” there needs to be more than a vet tech or receptionist there when you are open.

In a recent situation we took our dog to this vet and received excellent care. We took our dog here for a third opinion and we left Dr. Sharma's office with a plan and a feeling that there was a solution and we were going to receive the best care possible. Not only were the staff friendly and compassionate, but Dr Sharma and Dr Jandi performed a high risk surgery on our dog with great professionalism and care. They gave us great advice informing us of all pros and possible complications while making sure to remain positive and make us feel at ease with any decision we would make. We also received follow up calls and the Dr and surgeon were available by phone for any post operative questions we had. Our experience with 48th ave Animal Hospital was excellent and we will continue to place the care of our dog in their capable hands.

We first visited 48th avenue after our 8 week old puppy started vomiting. Although we were satisfied with the service from our former visit, we did not have a delightful experience with our second. Coming in to get our puppy's second set of vaccines, we were NOT informed about the "Vaccine Day" which the clinic offers lower prices for shots on Wednesdays. We got them done on a Sunday, and we would've appreciated PRIOR NOTICE and TRANSPARENCY about this discount, especially since vet bills can get quite expensive. We also found that the vets could've been more gentle and patient with our puppy during his injections. We felt that the process was rushed and that the doctor should've done more to calm our puppy down and build a positive association with needles for future vet visits.

They bend over backwards to help both you and your pet. They are also AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) accredited. This is not an easy accreditation to get.

i had read other positive reviews about this vet, made the little extra travel from richmond (which they were so grateful for!), and i was so pleased with how friendly, helpful and informative they were. i had switched vets because of bad experiences and poor treatment at my previous vet, and that turned out to be a really great decision because my cat is doing great and i don't have anxiety about going to the vet anymore! these guys have made my vet experience such a breeze. it's always clean and welcoming here, spacious and not crammy. and the best part is that i can be in the exam room, soak up all of the information, ask the vet questions, and just it's so much less stressful for me and my cat. i used to dread vet appointments but now i'm more than happy to return for all of his check-ups. plus they pre-cut your pills for you which is so nice and convenient. i will continue to take my pets here and continue to recommend these guys! i'm grateful for the care and compassion they've given my Dean!

Friendly & helpful front desk staff. I'm always so impressed that they know my dogs name without asking when I come in to get prescription dog food. My dog had to have a small procedure last year and I was very impressed with the vets calm, informative demeanor. Also loved that they called to check in and see how recovery was going after he came home. Easy to make an appointment and love that they open late so I don't have to take time off work to bring my dog in.

I just adopted a cat and he arrived home with a terrible "skin condition". I called 48th Ave at 8 am when they opened and they had my cat and I in within 4 hours. Turns out my new kitty has a bad case of fleas. He is black to it was hard to see at first. The gal at the front desk was so kind and understanding. She called the previous vet in Washington State to get all of the old medical records and talked me through some of my concerns as I waited. The Dr. Sharma was lovely. Calm and kind, and my cat was like butter in his hands. I am delighted to know such caring people are here in my community to help me with my cat!

I've taken my dog to see a number of vets (5+ over the years) and from my experience, this vet clinic is the best. Dr. Sharma is gentle with my dog, listens to my concerns carefully, and explains clearly. He does not ask for unnecessary tests even though he knows I have pet insurance. His staff are wonderful too! I drive 45 mins from Vancouver to Ladner to see Dr. Sharma and his staff. Really grateful to have found a good vet + team to care for my pet.

After coming home to a sick and dehydrated dog, we visited the hospital late on Friday and without appointment. The staff was great and Dr. Sharma was kind enough to work overtime to help us. We were able to see blood tests and x-rays on the spot, not only that, our pup was relieved immediately from the treatment. Dr. Sharma even called us on Saturday morning to check that all was well. Went to this vet clinic, to vaccinate my young dog ( chihuahua). It was quite stressful for me because I know that he doesn’t like strangers and might become aggressive towards anyone who will try to approach him.Of cause as soon as I got into the clinic , my dog got stressed, there was a lot of barking and growling. The Dr decided to wrap him in a towel and take him away for few minutes. As soon as they did, my dog calmed down, stopped barking. The Dr. was able to examine him and do shots . Our experience was fantastic!! We brought our three adult cats in to be microchipped at the same time. It could have been a gong show but instead vet staff had the paperwork prepared and ready and greeted us and our cats with open arms. I will begin by saying (Dr Judy Cheng) is an outstanding Veterinarian. Misha, our 6 month old kitten had pneumonia. Dr. Judy was kind, and loving as she tried to heal this little Soul. When Misha finally lost his battle; Judy came in on her day off to help us with his crossing over. At no time did our family feel like we were being milked financially, (as is the case in many other clinics). The entire Staff were exceptionally caring and showed sensitivity towards, Misha and our family. Our dog, Joe, has been under the routine care of the clinic for over a year. We have found the staff friendly, efficient and a pleasure to deal with. Over a month ago, Joe developed symptoms of liver problems and was submitted to a ultra sound which revealed cysts on his liver. A course of antibiotics and liver support medication was prescribed with a follow up scheduled for three weeks later. This blood test found that the adverse indications had increased and also revealed pancreatic problems. Dr. Sharma and I discussed Joe's prognosis and decided that it would be kinder to allow Joe to go on to his next life and an appointment was made for the procedure. My wife and I were present and Joe passed on peacefully. In all our dealings we found that everyone was compassionate and caring, both for Joe and ourselves. Professionalism combined with a real love of animals is what makes a veterinary clinic successful and we certainly found it here.

This is our go-to vet for our furry friends. We originally started going there because of their generous hours, but have stuck with them because of the service. All the doctors we've dealt with have been good, and we never feel like we're being upsold. They showed extreme compassion when we lost one of our cats back in February, and even followed up with a hand-written card. Highly recommended for anyone with pets in South Delta.

I needed emergency care for my pet and this was the only place in town open on a Sunday. All that was needed were some sutures. The vet wanted to sedate my dog, but I requested tying local anethsthetic first. They agreed and came back with the invoice to sign off on- almost $400!! I asked for a break down, and one of the charges was $20 for bandaging! My dog needed help regardless so we proceeded, but the vet refused to allow me to be present for the anesthetic and suturing...which would likely cause her more anxiety and panic....which would mean he would get to sedate her and keep her for monitoring...which would likely be another $300. I left and took my dog to another vet in a neighbouring community and they did the local anesthetic and suturing for $115- and let me stay to help hold and comfort my dog. No $20 charge for bandaging! Brutal- taking advantage when people are stressed/ scared because their pet is injured.

Absolutely TERRIBLE experience and will never be returning with any other animal ever again. My 7 month old cat Charlie was diagnosed by Dr Sharma with a fairly severe hernia which is very uncommon in cats and so he recommended my boyfriend and I bring him in once he was old enough to get neutered and he would operate on his hernia at the same time. Dr Sharma told us how crucial it was for him to have this operation while he was still small because the older he gets, the bigger the hernia would grow and that it could become life threatening. SO, we scheduled his neutering AND hernia operation for tuesday April 23, spoke to them at least 3 times before the surgery and were assured that they were going to operate on his hernia at the same time. My boyfriend dropped Charlie off in the morning and said "Im just dropping Charie off for his neutering-hernia operation" and then he left. A couple hours later one of the girls called to let us know that his neutering AND hernia operation went VERY well and we could pick him up by 5. We get there and nobody seemed to know who Charlie was or where his file was or anything. Then finally we got to speak with Dr Sharma and with no apology what so ever he informs us that he "forgot" to operate on his hernia and we would have to leave the cat over night. I refused to allow that to happen because this was all supposed to be done at once under one anesthesia. Dr Sharma then says he could do the operation right then and we could POSSIBLY pick Charlie up later and that he would "wave the anesthesia fee". I was not letting my kitten be put under for a 2nd time in one day and I found it extremely unprofessional that he was going to do that. So we left with our cat, with zero care instructions for after his neutering or any kind of pain meds. Nothing. No apologies. Nobody contacted us after either to try and keep us as customers. Needless to say, we brought our poor Charlie to the Tsawwassen animal hospital and the service there was over and beyond what was offered at 48th. They were shocked at how swollen he was from the neutering and that no pain meds were given and how unprofessional the whole situation was. Dr Sharma doesn't seem to really care much or have any compassion. Seems that he is just there to make money.

Last Tuesday and Wednesday were probably the most upsetting days in my life. With no for warning my beautiful Black cat became very sick, possible stroke and the a seizure. On Monday I was playing with her and Tuesday/Wednesday saying good bye. The Dr's and the staff were excellent in a very difficult time. Today (a week later) I received a sympathy card signed by all staff using my fur babies name with each comment. Prior to that on Thursday Dr Sharma called to talk to me. I know my next feline family member will be going there. Thank you for the kind care to both my angel and me.

We started our relationship with the 48th Ave. animal hospital when our guinea pigs started to get older. It is quite difficult to find a veterinarian who is knowledgeable about "exotic" pets. When Dr. Sharma was out of town for a week, I tried to find another vet and had to travel to another city to find one who knew about guineas...and his fees were outrageous compared to the fees charged at 48th Ave Animal Hosp. Dr. Sharma is very knowledgeable and one of the most compassionate vets I have ever met. In our three year relationship with him, he helped us give our dear guineas quality of life in their old age, and helped us feel comfortable in our decision when the time finally came to have them euthanized,(over a year apart in time). All the staff were so caring. Every one of them wrote a short goodbye to our little creatures in cards that were sent to us. They are a wonderful trained, caring, supportive group of people and I would recommend them to everyone.

We brought two rescued kittens from Maui to Ladner, BC. We had vaccinations started in Maui, but took the kittens to 48th Avenue Hospital for follow-up and spaying. They did a fabulous job, gave us choices about treatments (IV or not, for example), sent us home with instructions and cones for our kittens. We then took our 7 year old lab there for booster vaccinations. On both occasions, the appointments were on time, courteous, and the book keeping of the animals' information flawless. I started as a new client here a few months ago after I had enough at my previous vet in Tsawwassen. my experience here was fabulous. Not only did i find Dr Sharma a very caring and compassionate vet, the staff here was also very friendly and knowledgeable. I did not find myself being pushed into buying unecessary services and products( my previous vet was). The convinience of late evening and weekend appointments is great to have. Now I have moved all my pets to Dr Sharma's care. I am very happy and recommend this clinic to my friends and family.

Would highly recommend. We called on a Sunday morning to get an emergency appointment for our cat and were seen at the clinic by 12:30pm that day. Dr. Sharma and his staff are just the kind of people you want to have looking after your family pet! They are kind-hearted, and seem genuinely interested in the well-being of both the animal and animal's human. My old cat, Ripper, came home yesterday after having dental surgery. But before being discharged, the vet took lots of time to clearly explain what he had done during the surgery, and what the next steps would be to help my Ripper regain his good health. As well, Ripper's aftercare was explained to me by Brittany, the office assistant, and she was lovely and answered all my questions completely. Twenty-four hours later, Ripper is doing extremely well -- and Dr. Sharma just phoned to follow up on his recovery. I would definitely recommend the 48th Avenue Animal Hospital to anyone looking for quality veterinary care for their beloved pet.

The moment I took my puppy in the clinic. From the receptionist, all the way to the doctor I was informed everything I needed to know as a first time dog owner! It didn't end there the next day I received a call from his clinic to check up on my puppy, asking me how he was doing or anything strange you notice about him. Inexperienced staffs and horrible customer service. This is our very first time visiting this clinic. Our dog broke her leg at the trainer’s house and this is the closest clinic which can arrange a surgery asap. I do appreciate their efficiency in helping our dog to get the medical care she needed. However, when we brought our dog back home we realized there’s a lot of cuts from the razor blades, which they did not mention to us at all. It’s a due diligence to inform the owner of the pet if that happened, at least the clinic we usually go to would tell us. Instead of accepting the complaint, the owner of the clinic told us that it should not be our focus, and EDUCATED us that we should care about the healing of the bone instead the “minor cuts”. We do care about the healing of the bone but we are also very upset about the fact that they failed to inform us about the cuts they made. Will not recommend this clinic to anyone.

I took my dog to this vet for a bladder infection. First, the vet was late 30 min to the appt and kept my dog for X-rays that he said would take 1 hour for over 2 hours. You can tell there taking more appts than they can handle. Second, my dog is 13 years old and has had bladder infections 3 other times which I told the vet. The vet indicated we should do a urinalysis, culture text and X-ray and meanwhile start her on antibiotics. I asked him twice can we just do the urinalysis and if that comes back negative do the X-ray and he kept saying I would Not recommend it. He said if we don’t do it all at once, later we might have to change the course of treatment. I really felt pressured to do the X-ray, came out spending almost $600. The x-rays were done in the office and the results were immediate - which did not show anything. The other tests had to be sent away and 5 days later got the results which confirmed bladder infection. I’m actually not even sure why we had to do a culture test because my other vet never did them just just urine test. When he called to give me the results, he said because of the type of infection we should give her 10 more days of antibiotics and do another urine and culture test once done, this is after me telling him she’s already doing better. He saiid his recommending this because this type of infection is usually difficult to deal with. How about we wait and see if it’s necessary for my dog?!? I just didn’t get a good feeling of this vet and won’t be back. He was very pushy and overall I think work was done that could have waited or not really necessary. Sent from my iPhone

Our 7yr old lab ended up at the FV emergency vet after several days of vomiting and restlessness. Follow up X-rays we’re needed 8hrs after the emergency to be sure no be blockage. I called our vet of 7 yrs when they opened only to be told they were too busy and I should go back to emergency (45-60 min away) to have the follow up X-ray. I had heard about 48th avenue from friends, so I called them and explained the situation. They understood the seriousness of the situation and managed to get me in that day despite being extremely busy. Needless to say, I immediately transferred all our dogs records over to 48th avenue animal clinic and I am so happy we did. The care and compassion my dog received was outstanding.

took Puppy in for second set of shots the vet gave him a thorough exam and reviewed all his documentation I bought with me before giving him his shot Puppy was crying after the shot The Doctor took off his leash picked him up and cuddled him and walked with him pacified him immediately I have never experienced that with a vet before such compassion He told me what to look for if there was any reaction to the shot Told me to bring him back in4 weeks for his final set of shots and then a couple of weeks after that for his rabies as he doesn’t like to give it at the same time where some other vets do!

If I could give zero stars, I would! The doctor was absolutely horrid. We went Ladner Animal Hospital as we just adopted and needed an appointment within 5 days. The vet said the cats were healthy and proceeded to leave. When asked what was checked and how he knew they were healthy, he replied by telling my husband to research more about cats!! ???? Umm, that's why we are there in the first place! When handling our cats the assistants and vet were rough and uncaring. Prior to this visit, our cats were confident and adjusted well to their new environment. When the cats got home from the appointment, they were traumatized. They hid under the bed for 30 mins. We managed to coaxed them out and are better after some love. Never will I ever go back or recommend this vet! I'm honestly surprised it's still in business. For shame!!!

The one complaint that I have, understandably during Covid the doors are locked. However, we were standing outside for quite some time before someone came to attend to us. We knocked, then phoned in before someone came to the door. Lots of parking out front which is a bonus when you have a pet to deal with that may need care.

I was very pleased with my experience with staff and the Veterinarian at 48th Ave Animal Hospital! My pup had just got bitten by a dog and my primary vet was closed and the 48th Ave Vet was fully booked up with back to back appointments but they were able to squeeze my baby DJ in. Not only were they able to fit us in but I knew that they fully understood the extent of this emergency and knew that DJ needed to be treated ASAP. This Animal hospital loved and cared for my sweet little DJ just as much as I do. You can tell that 48th Ave isn’t about just business, they truly love and care for your pet as their own, they knew 100% that DJ needed to be seen and did everything in their power to be able to do so. As soon as I arrived they were able to take DJ in almost instantly. I am so thankful for the staff, they made me fully understand the situation and explained to me in detail about how to care for him afterward, not only did they do that, they also followed up 2-3 times within the treatment period which was a week. I am so overly pleased. I would recommend 48th Ave Animal Hospital 100%!

We took Lucy to see Dr Sharma and his amazing staff because she was having a couple issues and had been slowing down. We assumed she was lazy and resting more due to age. After telling Dr. Sharma her symptoms he immediately asked questions associated to hypothyroidism, did some blood work and started her on medication. The BEST experience I have ever encountered with any animal hospital organization! My dog has chronic allergies that can become incredibly severe over night which often result in immediate professional care. From the day she was a puppy she has bounced back and fourth between a handful of animal hospital's and vets, I was charged outrageous amounts for checkups, many were follow ups that I was charged again for another "required" check up, it took 4 years to even come to the conclusion she had allergies. I felt taken advantage of and deceived as many Vets told me different than the other Vets. Finally, by recommendation, we brought her to 48th Avenue Animal Hospital where she was literally treated like a family pet. The care that was extended not only by the Vet, but by ALL the staff down to the assistants was just remarkable. In one single appointment they were instantly able to diagnose, yet another allergic reaction. Yet this time I was informed of everything and anything I could do to help, steps to follow, medication along with an open invite to call whenever to ensure we are using it correctly. I HIGHLY recommend this Animal Hospital and can promise you will not regret bringing your beloved pets here. You will receive the care that is required and be thoroughly informed along the way, they are immensely cost efficient, friendly, and truly take care of your pet as if it's their own.
