I called Shamrock for a check up for my pup, after being told by other vets they wouldn't be able to book her in for a couple weeks. I explained the symptoms she was experiencing and they made time for a same day visit. During our visit, I was explained possible next steps, tests, and costs involved. Karma ended up being very sick and Shamrock called me frequently at home to check in while we waited to see if medications would help. It came time to help my girl transition to the next stage of her journey and Shamrock was so patient, kind, understanding with what we were going through but also looked out for my lovely pup's best interest. They showed empathy and care throughout our entire experience. Despite the reasons for our visits and the outcome, and of course covid, I felt cared for and respected.

I give you guys a 1 solely because when my dogs K9 was half ripped out it was after hours. And our normal Vet wasn’t taking emergency calls. So we called your veterinarian clinic. The automated system was terrible. The afterhours Vet who we spoke was extremely rude. After we explained what happened we told us he “Guessed he could see our dog, But it would be very expensive” which is fine it was an emergency. But he asked what Vet we usually see and we explained the situation. He than proceeded to let us know he wouldn’t help us or our dog because we didn’t usually go to shamrock. Which is absolutely pathetic. And clearly doesn’t care about an animals well being. Therefore Shamrocks lost our business. We use to buy dog food from them. But we just won’t bother. It’s always take from them. The ladies at the desk never seem happy. And it’s just pointless to have a job yet not care about it. Good luck. But you lost clients.

Wonderful staff and amazing care for my pup. I was advised of all costs before hand and felt we were very well taken care of. My senior Boxer wad diagnosed with cancer and looked as though she would not live another day. They prescribed a drug that has kept her very comfortable (although ravenously hungry) and we have been able to enjoy another two months (and still going strong) with her. We are aware her health can change at any moment and we take comfort in knowing that Shamrock will lovingly guide her across the Rainbow bridge when it comes her time. Although she has only been in twice the staff already knows her and sincerely cares for her. Thanks to all the staff for the hardwork and love you put into your jobs and our best friends best care.

I have to say this was one of the WORST experiences I have ever had with any business. We have two dogs and one cat, we have been here for two years and we decided to go with Shamrock vet because it was close to our house, well that was a horrible mistake!!!!!!!!!!!! Every SINGLE time we go in there they stick us with a HUGE bill over 200+ each time even with our cat, and they are always searching to diagnose our animals…. Oh well the ear is a little red, nothing serious but here is $30+ medicine you NEED! Oh and a $100+ sitting fee on top of that! Wanting to give our cats and dogs vaccinations and tests that don’t even apply to them, we find out later from other professionals it was unnecessary. To make matters worse the front staff are the RUDEST people, when we complained about the expensive visit 235.47$ for two kennel cough vac…. the blond receptionist reply…. well… go find another vet…. And they basically did not care and there was nothing they would do to help us `YES WHAT GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE SHAMROCK! I am so utterly disappointed, words cannot express. With them and we are pissed at all the money we have thrown away! All I can say is SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME! DON’T GO TO SHAMROCK VET IN COMOX! There are many many other great vets in the valley with way better front desk staff.

I adopted a rescue a few weeks back. The rescue mentioned a free pet exam for my first visit would be honoured by any vet in town. When I went to Shamrock they said they wouldn't honour my free visit because I was beyond the two week limit by a week. They charged me the 90 clinic visit. Shamrock, give your head a shake. If that's how they treat new clients - no thanks. Definitely WONT ever go back.

My dog had ACL surgery done by Dr. Pawel. It was a scary process that was made easier due to his knowledge and experience. We were very happy to have achieved our desirable outcome of our dog enjoying her daily walks once again. We are so very appreciative!

The best vet I have ever been to. We found them when we were looking to spay our dog because they offer a more minimally invasive ovectomy. The process went perfectly and our pup recovered quickly. A few month later our dog got sick and our local vet gave up, so in desperation we returned to Shamrock and they worked tirelessly to diagnose her. When it was discovered her illness was serious they revered us on to a specialist in Vancouver who confirmed their diagnosis and got us started on a course to recovery. Shamrock checked in with us daily while she was in the hospital, and when we were out of danger they took over our dogs continued care, helping us nurse our dog back to happy, playful self. Now we make the 2 hour drive to them whenever she is due for a check in...they have our trust and we are forever greatful for the care they gave us.

I don't mind my animal being greeted first when we walk in but I kind of want to be greeted too afterwards. Is it just me? I mean, look past the bald head and tattoos and I'm a really nice guy that loves his animals. But still, I feel like I'm just a wallet walking in and my animal is the customer. Luckily, the actual Vets inside are helpful, considerate and knowledgeable. Perhaps a little too gun-shy when it comes to cost/value comparisons for your pets health: she was extremely nervous when trying to explain I should get this test done for my dog, that it would do her (my dog) good but I don't have to get it if I felt so. I just wanted to break the ice and asked how much it was and she replied, $20. Come on. I understand, I mean, some people end their pet care at the bare minimum of necessity, but $20? Come on. It's still not detracting from the fact they are a great Vet.

This clinic has been our go to clinic for over twenty years. The vets are very good with the animals and genuinely care about your pets. The staff are knowledgeable, sympathetic and helpful. I highly recommend this clinic.

This is where I take all of my pets because they are very good with large dogs. There are a number of good vets in town but these guys were just fabulous with my childhood dog who was big, old, cranky and spent a large amount of time unwell before passing and they were exceptional in there care and support.

Whats with all the fleas everywhere? I know its an animal hospital and well animals get fleas, but I have never walked into a vet before and seen 5 fleas come from under then bench I was sitting on. They really made me feel like I had a bad dog and he would attack people. My dog was injured and the vet poked at his injury - my dog growled and snapped as he was in pain. The vet over reacted and tried to convince me that our dog we have had since he was a puppy (now 4) would soon turn on my kids. When in fact my dog does nothing by love and protect my kids. Was there for maybe 15 minutes and was charged $80 for him to tell me the dog is fine.

Not sure what happened with the other pet owners but we have been taking our animals here for 8 years and have no complaints. Front staff is awesome. Vets are awesome. We are always given options for treatment. We have used Shamrock for everything from emergency euthanasia :( to scheduled check ups, to travel paperwork and they are fantastic. Excellent people who are compassionate and knowledgable. Thanks :)

My fur children have been going to Shamrock Vet Clinic for over a decade. I had gone to a lot of other vet clinics in the Comox Valley before going to Shamrock Vet Clinic and in my experience , it has been the best clinic amd staff. Whether it has been introducing a new pet to the vet and team or end of life care and saying good-bye, the team has been there for our family. The staff are caring, compassionate, knowledgeable, and believe it or not, my dogs enjoying going. Thanks to Dr. P, my dogs are able to walk and enjoy a pain free and active lifestyle.

My initial rating on this vet was higher..hence why we returned with another pet. Sadly our next visit was not great and we left feeling taken advantage of as the vet went ahead and did tests without advising us of the costs involved beforehand. This made for an embarrassing end to the appointment and owing a bunch of money we didn't anticipate..left with a bad feeling and will not be back

I really appreciated them responding to my dog's illness and need to see someone quickly. Two other vets in the same area basically told me because of covid they were full.... wouldnt even take an emergency- no interest in helping me. Shamrock vet was very efficient and able to sus out my dog's need, prescribe and get me on my way. They followed up a few days later with me too. Clean and great covid protocol! Caring and helpful staff and doctor!????thanks Shamrock!

Amazing staff, they really put the care of the animals first, but are also great at helping the people deal with the situation. I had to use them for an emergency and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality, compassionate care for their animals. The long version: I don't live in the area, but was visiting a friend with my dog. I had to bring my dog in here when he ingested something that caused him to vomit and there was blood in the vomit. Not knowing what he ingested, the staff took excellent care of him. The front of house staff got me in quickly as I had called ahead to let them know we were coming. They induced more vomiting to ensure that if anything toxic was ingested, it was all out of his system, and observed him for a while afterward. The whole time they let me stay with him and talked to me about after care for him. They even have me a towel to take with me in case he had to vomit again in the car. Their fees were very reasonable considering I'm not a client, came in without an appointment, and was really just a mess. Luckily my dog was fine and the blood wasn't an issue. Just a scary situation that was handled beautifully by all the staff I interacted with at the clinic.

I currently have two dogs and have been coming to Shamrock vet for over 15 years, I am not sure how long ago Dr Pawel took the practice over but the quality of care he and his staff give is second to none, the front end staff are always helpful and friendly, recently our family's beloved Cocker Spaniel ( 10 years old ) got Lymphoma cancer, fortunately when he was a puppy I purchased a health insurance plan for him, ( recommended ), Shamrock Vet was able to work with me and the plan to put our dog through chemo therapy, our Spaniel had to make many visits back and forth to Shamrock vet where all of the staff from the front desk girls to the vet tec's to Dr. Pawel himself always made sure our dog was comforted and most times they lay'd out a special blanket they had set aside for him which he would roll around on while he was there, some times for hours, 1.5 years later our furry friend is still with us and he goes back regularly for check ups, he still gets the special blanket, thank you Dr Pawel and all your staff, you are the best!

Affordable prices and amazing care. The love they show my pets (senior cat, young cat and puppy) is beyond what I expect from a vet! We have been going to shamrock for almost 12 years and have never had a problem. Our pets might not love the vet but they do their best to make the animals as happy and relaxed as possible. I see reviews of it being expensive. I think every vet is expensive have had not thought it was unreasonable there is multiple pet discount.
