During my first few visits, I actually wasnt too fond of this location. The front desk is nice, but my experience with the technician/vet wasnt the greatest. It seemed as though they were recommending the most expensive route. I eventually got a vet, Shannon McKnight, who my wife and I now choose to always tend to our pets. She is great! She is very knowledgable, listens very well and takes a lot of notes on the pet. She then recommends the most natural and least expensive route before recommending medicine. It's because of her that we choose to bring our pets in. Thanks Shannon!

Dr. Beltran is amazing. He did such a thorough examination of Mya who is almost 10 now. She is doing great but this exam picked up on an ear wax build up, which could be easily cleared, as well as a tooth infection which would only have gotten worse had it not been found. I am so happy to have found a more holistic vet in the Ottawa area. I recommend Dr. Beltran to everyone. :)

Too many staff meetings I have been bringing my beloved pets to this clinic for over 25 years. Recently and coincidentally during the pandemic, everytime I go to pick up ordered pet food they are closed for a staff meeting. It's frustrating because you never know when to pick up an order. How is it acceptable to close down for a meeting when customers don't know your meeting schedule. This has happened to me the last three times I went to pick up my order. Can one staff member be assisgned to the door for curb side pick up at least or if it's important for all staff to attend then keep your meetings brief so you don't inconvience and alienate your customers?

My family is fortunate to have Blair Animal Hospital looking after our cat, Large Marge. They always make us feel welcome and the care Large Marge receives is second to none. Kristy and Dr.Clements have recognized what the best plan for Marge was (The FlanPlan) and it seems to be working. Plus she receives Rock Star Status as soon as she gets through the door. It's an ok veteranary clinic but very busy. They don't seem to need people's business and treat you accordingly. We went there for about 4 years. We never saw the same vet twice in a row which is ok for a run of the mill check-up but when you have an older dog with declining health it's nice to have some consistency in care. And forget about getting a same day appointment. A couple different times I had called as soon as they opened to try and get an appointment to the see the vet on the same day and they didn't have anything open. Two years ago and then again about a year ago, one particular vet told us our dog wouldn't be with us much longer and we should soon make a decision about euthanasia. After seeking additional care at Alta Vista Animal Hospital they were able to properly diagnose and treat the problem both times. He's still with us today. Having said that, it you aren't in need of any specialized care and just need regular checkups, vaccination, neuter, etc. they are fine.

The front desk staff are so friendly, we have alot of fun with them. Our vet is fantastic! We LOVE Jen and our little furry friend loves her too. Services can be pricey but worth it. I would highly recommend this hospital!

We recently adopted a pup and Blair Animal Hospital was recommended by a colleague. A very friendly and prompt response was given via email for the many questions I had about cost and what our dog needed to get done. It made us feel as though we were definitely choosing the right place. We immediately felt welcome as the friendly staff greeted us for our first appointment. The veterinarian was very patient with all the questions we had as new pet owners and was more than happy to offer advice and help with anything we needed. We are looking forward to our visits with our new pet and would highly recommend this animal hospital.

I cannot say enough good things about this hospital. I spent almost a full week there, with my pet who was in kidney failure and required IV treatment for four days. I think we may have been served by just about every staff member in the hospital at one point or other, as our vet doesn't work Sundays and Mondays. Every single interaction we had with someone was not just professional, it was courteous, highly competent, warm and caring. My dog hates going to the vet's, but she loved everyone there. I prefer places where the staff get down on the floor with the pets when they can, instead of making them go up onto tables. This is that kind of place.

Dr. Beltran is a miracle healer. Our dog was diagnosed with terminal illness at other clinics, and our only option was to put him down. My son researched other options and found the holistic treatments with Dr. Beltran. When Dr. Beltran saw his blood test, he spent hours on tje phone with me going in details about the problems and the solution, even before we decided to take pixy to him. He showed us that he cares and was concern about pixy before he was his patient. He found problems with pixy blood tests from 2 years ago, that his others doctors never seen mentioned, and that was all before pixy was his patient and for free. After 1 month treatment, Pixy, our dog is back from death, very happy, active, healthy, like we never seen before. Blood tests show dramatic improvement with all the problems he had. He is eating foods that he could never eat before all his life without diaria. Since we got him as puppy few 11 years ago, on ear was always up and one down, now both ears are up, we never seen this before. Thank you doctor Beltran for you exceptional care and for the second chance you give Pixy.

I switched our pets (dogs and cat) to Blair VCA in 2018/2019 and have been so happy here. The reception staff is friendly, compassionate and extremely capable. The vets at Blair VCA are also fantastic, we lost a dog in 2021 and prior to that the entire clinic and vet staff were extremely responsive, helpful and went above and beyond for us, even though they are not an emergency vet, they did their best to get us in day-of when our boy had issues. Our dog was in and out of emergency vets and saw many specialists and the whole time we had amazing communication and support from Blair VCA vets and staff who took a lot of stress off of our shoulders in terms of following up with other vets/specialists to ensure our file was always up to date and our boy got the best care possible during the very scary and confusing time and after his passing after an emergency trip to another ER, Blair VCA was incredibly kind in contacting us and being there for us. Into the nitty gritty of prices - while vet care is expensive I have found that the vets here are extremely fair and reasonable and the staff are always happy to offer up solutions that might be more budget friendly if they are available. They will work with you and do the best they can if you have budgetary constraints. I wouldn't hesitate to use them for any of their services because this is a fantastic team of animal professionals who I trust to do what is best for my animals but who also listen to me as the pet owner and take my concerns and suggestions into consideration where appropriate. COVID has been an extremely trying time for vets and vet staff and despite seeing first hand how terribly some of the staff are treated by some clients, the vets and staff at Blair VCA are always kind, extremely professional and we are forever grateful for this amazing team who are always there for us and we will continue to bring our pets here and refer everyone we know here.

I have brought my Pomsky puppy Aspen to this location since she was a baby and we have had nothing but great experiences here. The staff is extremely kind, honest, compassionate and informative. I do find that things can get pricey at the vet so I enrolled in the Care Club monthly payment plan which covers routine visits, vaccines and unlimited nail trims and that has been very helpful so that I do not have to pay hundreds of dollars each visit. When I moved across the city, I tried bringing my nervous pup to a new VCA location but she was so scared and shaking the whole time. We decided it was best to make the longer drive to the Blair location to where my puppy is comfortable and happy each time she goes.

Our 3.5 year old cat Forte had been struggling for over 5 weeks with health issues and in spite of being in a vet's care was still declining rapidly. We brought Forte into Blair Animal Hospital after having the records faxed over. They were able to determine what was happening and were able to help us make necessary decisions with care and fully educated on our options. Best holistic vet ever - Dr. Beltran is amazing and we also love Dr. Fenstein. Our mini Schnauzer was very sick 9 years ago and after many visits to multiple vets in Ottawa, Dr. Beltran was the only one to figure out what was wrong and get her back to health. We could not have done this without Dr. Beltran leading her get well program - he went to the ends of the earth to determine the issues and bring in the best resources to support her. We recently got a new puppy after the passing of our beloved 17 year old Schnauzer Macie passed away, and would not dream of having another vet help us take care of our new puppy. The entire team at Blair Animal Hospital is awesome so don't hesitate to take your fur child to Blair for amazing care.

Dr. Beltran is the best! I love his holistic approach and thorough examination. It's expensive but I feel I get my money's worth by having a healthy dog....inside and out. Years ago he helped me save a very challenging dog that would have ended up euthanized due to her behavior issues. She did a 360! Rescued a cat that was un spayed. Receptionist wouldn't offer a quote over the phone. Enticed us to come in with an offer of a free exam. Brought the cat in only to be met in the lobby with a quote for $1100.00 for spaying along with information to contact the Ottawa humane society. This information could have been provided over the phone. Also the cost to spay a cat is outrageous.

I had the misfortune of seeing Dr Jane Kielly when no one else was available in an emergency. I was shocked by how blatantly and unethically she prescribed expensive meds and repeat procedures (that did not yield results the first time) as a cash grab but did not follow through on promised follow up. If no one else is available please consider going elsewhere. I am writing this as I wish I had been warned.

Pros: The Vets are great and compassionate with pets, easy to get an appointment. Very convenient. Cons: I find they are very quick to suggest procedures, tests or medication which are very costly. Every time you ask how much it costs the vets pretend to not know, making you feel cheap for even asking and that the cost shouldn't be important... but it is (especially for optional services).

I have used his services for over 30 years and during that time he has been kind, compassionate not only towards my pets but to me as well. A few years ago I nominated them for an award. I would never ever do it again. I love the vets but reception is horrible and rude. Come for the vets but know that reception will treat you poorly. I’m not sure why they work in a compassionate business when they really don’t seem to care at all.

The just want your money. They misdiagnosed my dog after charging for a blood test and thousands in medication. They obviously didn't do the blood test because when my dog collapsed a few weeks later and I had to take him to the emergency, they found the problem immediately and said it would have been shown in the blood test they supposedly did. They are thieves, arrogant and do not care. IF you do not pay them they will threaten to have your dog taken away. They will not allow you to take their scripts to anyone else. They are not a real Animal Hospital. They have very short weekend hours (Saturday only) and have no emergency or overnight care. They are a surgical clinic only. Avoid Blair at all costs. Go to Altavista or Ottawa Vet Hospital on Carling.

Great vets that are very open minded and give you so many different options for your pet. We took our mini bull terrier there after switching vets, and were so pleased by how they took care of him. What I thought would be a crazy vet bill was half of what I expected. They also were honest about the types of shots that were required (not nearly as many are mandatory like we thought) and they switched over his food to something less pricey. Will definitely be bringing Rocky there from now on
