Quality of care highly depends upon the particular vet that you see. The last vet I saw was fine in regards to treating our cat, but still insisted we be billed for additional after hours call expenses, despite calling and being in the clinic before it closed on Saturday. Different stories from everyone you talk to regarding billing issues. Reception said it wasn't after hours when we initially called for an appointment and to come in because the vet was already on his way back to the clinic. Then the vet said himself he couldn't quote costs because he didn't handle billing, but the clinic would call on the following Monday with the total costs. Clinic called and said that the vets handle all billing themselves there were after hours charges regardless because the clinic closes to small animals at 1pm despite it not listed on their website or being told when you call in. Overall, it's a clinic that's very money oriented compared to care directed. We gave them a second chance after a previous bad experience with a different vet at Southeast (animal still needed to be taken elsewhere after seeing the vet on that previous occasion) but after these billing issues and hearing different versions of expenses from 3 different people, I can't say I'd ever bother going back. Everyone just loves having a bill doubled days before Christmas and whIle being in a clinic before closing and when nothing was said about such beforehand, including on their website. It's about money, not care. (I was contacted by the clinic. They had requested that this review be removed in its entirety, I'm not prepared to do that as I still feel it's an authentic review. I have increased my overall rating to a neutral standpoint, I'm willing to state that the amounts we feel we were overcharged for after-hours visits while the clinic was still open have been removed. I will maintain that given the number of different rates and charges utilized by the clinic, this information needs to be made readily available. Hours and charges as they vary between animals, time, appointment, etc, really should be shown on their website, clinic door, pamphlet or display in the clinic...anywhere clients would normally view information. Have I seen such an array of different charges elsewhere? No, in over 25yrs as a breeder, I have not and clients should at very least ask and be aware of and ask questions regarding all billing costs beforehand. It was fair and reasonable charges were corrected by the clinic, I feel this ammendment reflects the entire experience fairly.)

DO NOT RECOMMEND bringing your pet to South-East Veterinary Hospital. Recently we required after-hours care for our cat and when we arrived at South-East Veterinary Hospital we were hopeful that our little guy would be in good hands and get the treatment he so desperately needed. Well, that hopefulness quickly turned to disgust and disbelief. We couldn't believe how extremely rude and unprofessional Ron Hamilton conducted himself in the short time that we were there. As much as we appreciated him coming in, we couldn't in good conscience leave our cat in the care of such an uncaring and rude individual. After we left I was thinking that maybe our experience with Mr. Hamilton was unique but after reading numerous Google and Facebook reviews online, it's safe to say that unfortunately it was not unique at all. On their website, South-East Veterinary Hospital describes Dr. Hamilton as someone who "enjoys all aspects of the practice - both large and small animals". Wow, if Mr. Hamilton enjoys anything about his profession he sure has a strange way of showing it.

Once again I brought my puppy in to consult about his serious health challenge. I had originally taken him to a specialist facility in Winnipeg but he was still failing when he was sent home. I called Southeast and brought him in as soon as as possible. Dr. Goosen was kind, thorough, and recommended treatment which far surpassed what he received in Wpg. Dr. Goosen's treatment saved his life. I am so grateful for her and the staff's treatment and care for Bailey.

First time I took my 100 lb dog here, the "vet" was apparently terrified of big dogs, didn't bother to complete the basic exam and did not even look at one of the main issues we were bringing him in for. I was livid. What kind of "vet" is scared of animals anyways.... As I was taking a picture to include in my post warning others, the boss came running out. Sadly I went against my ethics and allowed them to "make it right" with a reduced fee (fair for incomplete service provision) with the stipulation that I not write that review. Well, today I went back in and low and behold, they failed at their "second chance" as well. As a result you get Both reviews.

Dr Ron took excellent care of us in a time of dire need. I called in as an emergency call at 7 pm as my hubby was on the way in with our 16 year old pitt bull. Dr Ron was there when they arrived. He gave us the diagnoses and took care of her with great compassion. Despite the terrible out come, his professional demeanor and ability to lift the situation was greatly apricated. Dr Mark Oswald is a great vet and even though he already a busy Sunday evening still made time for my puppy at 130 am. I was pretty concerned about the severity of my puppy's diarrhea and the fact that he was throwing up and really didnt want to wait til the next day to have him looked at. Turns out he had an overload of bacteria in his system and Dr Oswald put him on antibiotics and Metronidazole and gave him a shot to ease his ouchy tummy. Also followed up with the next day to see how things were going.

Brought our poor old dog in to be euthanized. Traumatic for all of us. However, the technician was clearly not equipped to perform the procedure. Our poor pup was not afforded a gentle sleep. It took more than 20 minutes of her writhing around on the table before she passed. 20 minutes is a long time to watch any animal suffer like that. It was horrible. We will never, EVER go back there again.

I would give 0 stars if I could. Nonstop dissapointment. In instance one, a car hit a cat and I picked him off the highway- bleeding, dying. I called as they were the only 'emergency' vet. They were highly rude, unsympathetic. They said even though I hadn't hit the cat, I would have to pay $100+ for them to even see the cat. Gross values. In instance two, my cat fell from 9 ft and was screaming in pain. I called the EMERGENCY vet and was treated like it was just another day. I said how urgent it was and that he was screaming in pain. The receptionist shrugged me off and told me the vet was busy but she would see if he could make time for me when he wasn't busy. 10 minutes later they called me back only to put me on hold for 20 minutes! After 20 minutes they had the audacity to come on the phone and say they wouldn't see me. They asked how he was doing. I said he's screaming in pain and cannot walk. They said he'll be fine. They said the next opening they had was in 2-3 days! Are you not an emergency vet? Do you not take emergencies? I know the emergency hospital in winnipeg treats people kindly and doesn't hesitate to help. Maybe you could take notes from them, considering you handle emergencies horribly.

I have a nearly 12 year old Shih Tzu cross that I have taken to Dr Hamilton for all his needs. Ceba needed cherry eye surgery on one eye when he was young and then on his other eye last year. Dr Hamilton did a great job both times. The staff is very caring and knowledgeable , also friendly. In would recommend this clinic in a heartbeat

This vet has caused me nothing but headaches. Starting with the staff being extremely rude, terrible communication skills, they ignore you if you call them. They also don’t apologize if the make mistakes. I took my French bulldog to this clinic. Not only did they give her an infection for early breeding they also didn’t do the job that they were paid to do. I spoke with them and shared some of the knowledge that needed to be done in order to do it right the response of the owner of the clinic was “are you done talking I’m 66 years old I think I know “ disregarding what I had to say and in the end he didn’t know because it didn’t even work. In conclusion a bunch of money was spent only to have my poor dog get an infection. I also spoke with the staff and told them that Dr. Hamilton did not have permission to handle my dog they did not care and used him anyways. He didn’t even have the guts to call me back for an apology even though I called 5 days in a row asking to speak to him and left a message for him to call me back. They said they would leave the message for him only to ignore me and then get hunged up. If I could give them 0 stars I really would. Save your money and pets health and go to another vet clinic that actually cares about the animals and peoples wishes.

Kayla, the person who answered the phone when I returned a missed call that I had gotten moments before. When she answered, she was laughing and saying “no one here called you I don’t know what you’re talking about” when IN FACT the doctor had called me RE: My horse. Absolutely 5 stars we had a 2 day old kitten that was injured and bleeding and had something internal sticking out from it and we thought it was going to die. We called around and the vets were saying push it back in, the kitten is probably going to die anyways. This vet said bring it in rite away so we did. Happy to say the vet did great work and fixed the little girl up and her prognosis is just as good as her 5 brothers and sisters now. Even though we aren't keeping them all we still felt that it was still a little life and we wanted to save her. So thank you for allowing us to do that. This is our new vet from now on.

Took my dog that is 9 months old here to get eye surgery. That was 684$ then the eyes got infected with the cone on because he was not supposed to be around another dog that we have. They never told us this even tho they have both dogs on record. Took him back and was charged another 123$ to get eyes fixed. Then the cone caused a skin infection so took him in again and was charged another 174$. The next day the skin infection appeared to be spreading rapidly and took him in again. Hamilton was the vet he was super cold and not very nice. Another 341$ all for an infection they caused by lack of information/communication. Maybe communicate better with people. Hamilton didn't even finish cleaning my dogs infection or finish putting cream and then left him sedated and sent me home to finish the job myself. So I had to carry my sedated dog from the car to my house finish cleaning his wound and put the cream on. Then inject him with a needle to wake him up. This was the most unprofessional experience I have had. 1322$ AND THIS IS WHAT WE GET!! STAY AWAY!!

Called to ask questions about a problem (he ate something he shouldn't have) with my new pup and the staff on the phone was awesome in taking the time to answer the questions they could. They were able to take my pup right away. The vet was extremely helpful and answered all questions. She gave my a price and stuck to it (even came in a little under). After just two weeks earlier have a terribly experience with a different vet and over charging and also not being fully straight forward when I asked questions this was a huge relief. TL; DR: Awesome and helpful staff + Reasonable pricing

Friendly employees! As my dog had a visit to this vet they took x-rays and had said his joint was broken although it didnt seem correct. Brought him to a different vet and had the x-rays transfered and was told that the x-rays were too blurry to get a proper diagnosis, so i had new x-rays taken and it turns out he had torn/sprained a ligament in his knee. When they told me it was broken we were looking at some options on what we can do. Surgery was the best option so we called a different vet asked for the cost. The cost wasnt affordable for me. We almost thought of putting him down cause we didnt want him to suffer but thankfully we took a chance and brought him somewhere else!

We had a good experience bringing our daughter's new puppy there to get all the shots with the Vet, unfortunately the receptionist with the dark hair & glasses at the front was very rude & unfriendly. She made us feel like we were a real inconvenience to her and interrupting her. Wouldn't hurt for her to smile a little & make people feel welcomed. Not very professional. I had my cat and then the 4 kittens fixed at the clinic. Everyone was helpful and there was a call after the cats were at home to check on their well being. As for price I was quoted over $500 in Winnipeg for one kitten. It cost me under $800 for all 4 at South-East 3 female. I received a discount considering how many kittens I was getting done. These kittens were from a cat that showed up at my door half starved and pregnant. It was nice to get a reasonable price, considering I didn't want anymore pets. They decided otherwise. Thank you.

We have used them for several years now and find their combined knowledge on all our animals, from our horses & cattle to our smaller indoor pets, outstanding. We were nervous about leaving our cuddly little sweeties behind when we brought our 6 month old tuxedo kitties, brothers Tango and Cash, in last week. Upon seeing the clean facility and how the clinic staff were so kind and we felt comfortable that our little fellas would be given the best care. We picked them up early next am and followed after care instructions. They were both very happy to be home and both our kitties have had no issues. I've been bringing my fur family to SE Vet for 20 yrs. They've been awesome. One time our pigmy goat was having problems during delivery...of course on a long weekend. Brought her in and she was seen immediately....we were told all ok, she just wasn't ready to give birth yet. When we asked how much for visit he said nothing. He just said "you'll be back". And we were 2 days later and now Monday of long weekend. He ended up having to do a C-section. Very reasonably priced . Just last weekend I was bringing my dog for annual vet check and made the decision that morning to bring my senior cat in to be put to sleep...which of course, was a very hard decision. I called and the gentlemen I spoke with was very empathetic and accommodated me without hesitation. When I arrived staff were very warm and welcoming and very compassionate. Awesome team!

If you have sick pet please do Not go to this facility. Vet was cold,rude and knew nothing. The bill was padded. Very expensive I went to see the manager. He was not in 3 days later they did not contact me. They do not care. More interested in making money than providing care. Worst vet in Manitoba. I would have rated them zero but could not So ignore the one star.

I stopped in to put my name on file as a client as we are new to the area and need a vet on call in case of emergency for our horses. I haven't met the vets yet but so far the office seemed a bit disorganized. Staff wasn't sure if they were taking emergencies at all. I'm assuming the staff was new as was the clinic and things will improve with time.
