I called to ask about getting nail trims for my kitties.. She asked how they were in regards to getting nail trims and i mentioned not great, one of my cat's has anxiety. She put me on hold to ask if they would be able to take me. She came back and said that because my cats were not there I guess for a long time, and they weren't up-to-date on their annual exams... which actually they are, but at a different vet.... that she would not take my kitties for a nail trim. I was kind of in shock! like ok soooo because I haven't been there for a while and because they haven't seen my cats.. you won't give them a nail trim ??? And she said yeah that's the reason!... like what in the actual heck?? I'm still shocked. Refusing business??.. ohhhK!.... So I'm wondering now with my pets.... If they needed an emergency visit or something would they see me or not because I haven't been there before makes me really wonder. Well I'm glad I have always been going to the Selkirk animal hospital on Christie Ave. that's where I will be staying and giving my business always to. Wow! *smh*

This place is absolutely horrible. They only care about getting the most money out of you and dont care about your pet. Our family cat had been having several issues after moving into a different house and each time they tried to treat it he only got worse and they continued to guess on what was going on acting like they knew what it was instead of admitting they didn't. My cat was 11 years old and when I finally convinced my mom to put him down because none of what they were doing wasn't working, the vet then said it was just because he had a few rotten teeth and that if they removed it he would be good as new. So she paid the 500$+ and got his teeth removed and a few weeks later he became paralyzed from the waste down. He suffered so much in his last year because they vet couldn't resist getting that extra dollar instead of telling my mom what I've been telling her the whole time. He was too old and should not have went through surgery especially if they didn't know for sure if that was the cause. And if it was the cause, why make us go back there so many different times and tell us something different every time? 100% Would NOT recommend. They do not care about your pets.

I walked out because they wanted me to put my dog through all these test which would have been close to $800 I refused because i didnt think what they said was right. They then told me would call animal control on me. I went to another vet my dog was perfectly fine, was just dehydrated and needed a iv. Cost me like $200 and shes herself again. Called them and said if they date call animal control.on me go ahead I have the vet bill from the other vet. STAY AWAY!!

My Dog was coughing non stop so I took my dog there and the rececptionist said it was likely reverse sneezing that was causing my dog to cough. .They vet could not see the dog but not to worry because revervse sneezing was normal. I went to a differnet Vet office where the receptionist didn't give and opinion or shoo us away but asked the Vet and the Vet diagnosed my dog with a heart murmer at stage 3. I will never go to this Vet office again!

The dr seemed nice when I took my 13 year old dog to be euthanized, everything went as planned and they were very compassionate. The problem I had was they sent me a sympathy card (also very compassionate) and inside the card written by the dr a note basically told me I was a bad pet owner because I wouldn't pay the astronomical prices to have my dogs teeth removed due to gum disease. I knew that my dog was having gum issues and that coupled with other issues my dog was having was why I made the difficult choice to euthanize her. putting it in my sympathy card was not the right choice. If they had sent a separate note I would not have been so upset.

It was the first time we brought our dog to this vet. She needed her annual check up and shots. I was really impressed by how knowledgeable all of their staff was. The vet answered all of our questions and was super gentle with our dog, the dog did not even really react to getting her shots. I will certainly be using them as Lexi's vet from now on! As well, they were kind enough to accommodate our last minute request for the appointment. (phoned at 8:30 am and they were able to schedule us for 3:30 p.m.) Very clean facility, friendly and knowledgeable staff!

I have been taking my dog (now almost 12 years of age) to Dr. Klug since she was an 8-week old puppy and would never consider going anywhere else. Dr. Klug is an amazing, compassionate vet who made my very small and nervous Shih Tzu (and her very nervous owners) feel comfortable from the very beginning. She has always been there for us in any event of emergency and has never recommended any excessive or unnecessary treatment. Her staff are always upfront about the cost and are much more responsive and courteous than in any vet clinic that can be found in Winnipeg, so although I live in Winnipeg, I do not mind travelling to Selkirk to see Dr. Klug for all of my dog's medical needs. She and her team are absolutely the best!

My saddest memory will forever be the evening we had to say goodbye to one of our furry family members.The absolute kindness we were gifted with at such a time of sadness made me realize that this is is such a great group of truly caring and kind individuals. We had phone calls and emails from both Dr.Penner and Dr. Klug during this difficult time and I will always be grateful for their genuine concern. We’ve had many animals that have visited the clinic. A guinea pig, two rats, bearded dragon and now the two new loves of our lives our two rescue dogs. Every time we’re there, we feel grateful for the patience, caring and understanding we get from the minute we enter the clinic. Whenever someone asks were I take my animals I always pass along the phone number!

My dog was over medicated. When she woke up she cried for over an hour. It then took her two days to start eating again. Also when she was put under Dr.Penner clipped her nails. He clipped them so short they bled which he then told my spouse was okay as you can just put styptic powder on them. He did this in front of my spouse. Makes you wonder.

What a disgrace of human nature these people are. Trying to profiteer off a dying loved one. We decided to give a senior 10 year old rottie that had been abandoned and then rescued, a forever home. We actually adopted him from here. He had severe arthritis and lymph nodes all over his body. He had problems with his stomach and his feet were worn badly from the distance he travelled. He was thin and already looked on deaths door. We brought him home. He changed completely, he sprung to life, he played with our other rotties, lay beside your feet, rolled over, sat for his food, loved a belly rub and made funny sounds when play fighting. He also turned into the protector of the family, barking when someone he didnt know came close to the house. He would lay his head on your lap with cloudy old rottie eyes and ask for nothing more than a head rub or ear scratch.His eyes would say "Thank you for helping me and I'll always be here for you" Why did I write this? Because in the space of 1 year an old dog that was given a second chance and he lived it to the full and became a loved family member became very ill, very quickly. You could see it in his eyes ,it was time. We decided that because of his pain and rapidly deteriorating health that putting him to sleep would be humane thing to do. Selkirk wouldn't offer the service unless we were going to fork out just shy of $500 for diagnostic tests alone, excluding euthanasia? And hold him for a day in pain?You know your dog and these indescribable monsters think it's more beneficial to profit off a dying loved one than bring him peace? We went to our local vet in Winnipeg and immediately offered euthanasia after seeing him. Our loved one died in my arms in most peaceful way I'd hoped he would. We'll never forget you!!
