Nowadays this firm receives a score of 4.4 stars over 5 and the rating has been calculated on 127 reviews.
As you can read, the average score it has is really high, and it's founded on a large number of opinions, so we may conclude that the rating is quite faithful. If people have bothered to rate when they've done well, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to put evaluations when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Veterinarian is classified in the category of Veterinary care.
Hard to rate, excellent College with excellent Faculty and labs. Horrible management which has lead to angry staff
Got my baby all fixed up with the best Vets anywhere
A great institution with many world famous studies and research programs being conducted
Excellent service and great care. Didn't get good news but it was easier with the way they handled our situation.
Always love this weekend at College Royal. Wonderful family activities. Thank you students!!
Located at the University of Guelph this is the leading Animal Hospital in Canada and cancer center for animals
You guys had better get your heads out of your asses & permanently revoke his Veterinary licence. I'm tired of people getting a slap on the wrist for ANIMAL ABUSE!! If his licence isn't permanently revoked you'll make your precious college look just as bad as him!!
Brought our Dane there today and needed a scope done because we suspected an obstruction. They refused because the x-ray came back fine. We ended up driving all the way to South Hampton Pet Hospital today and by 9:00 pm the scope was done and yes there is an obstruction. Pet owners just know their pets and should be listened to especially when we are paying. Truly a sad experience. I am glad we went elsewhere and didn’t give up.
The only place for your furbaby in crisis
My girlfriend called when my harris hawk was dying. They told us it wasn't worth coming because he'd be dead by the time we got there as we live in Orillia. It's a maximum two hour drive. He didn't die for another five 1/2 hours. During COVID-19, no other place would take us as there's only one other place that specializes in birds here that was open but refused as well. They were rude to my girlfriend and unhelpful in helping her find another solution. She was distraught and having the receptionist be rude was the last thing she needed. This was my bird but I had to console my girlfriend due to the staff's behaviour. I'm very upset as I've had previous good experiences but this one has left me absolutely devastated as OVC allowed my bird to suffer.
OVC saved my diabetic dog! The staff were amazing.
Green Space. Peace & Quiet.
.
Good college. Amazing professors.
Amazing teaching facility. Great tour and lectures on family and friends day.
These guys saved my 8 year old poodles life. My spoo had bloat, and her stomach did a 360⁰ flip causing her to loose 25% of her stomach. She had a heart attack, collapsed and started blowing up like a balloon. She is alive and well, and I am ever so grateful for their help. Thank you a million times over. Blessed.
Got my baby all fixed up with the best Vets anywhere
Called to get some information about my sick animal and the receptionist was extremely rude. I'm sure the veterinarians are some of the best but a receptionist that serves as first contact to potential clients should have the knowledge and capacity for empathy and compassion. Cut me off before I she even knew what I was asking telling me she couldn't give me any information. RUDE!
They take care of animals and train our young veterinarians to take care of our friends .
Really good place to study I really like the second cup in here. The view is really nice from the upper floors and there usually isn't anyone else studying here because it's far from main campus
State of the art vet teaching centre.
Cannot say enough about the care we received for our puppy, Piper, to repair her broken leg. The patience and compassion shown to us made an anxious time more tolerable. All our questions were answered and we've been amazed at the continued availability for support post surgery. Thank you to the amazing team at OVC!!!
Good to love your pets but help poor people too
My dog suddenly became paralyzed while we were visiting family in Ontario over the holidays. After a brief work up at a small animal clinic, we were sent with an emergency referral to the OVC Companion Animal Clinic. OVC called the clinic back and said they were unable to do an MRI until the following week but assured us they could do other diagnostics. Upon arrival they immediately brought my girl to ICU and sent us back to the waiting room. We had a short consult with a veterinarian who was waiting to speak with the neurologist. Finally called us in to tell us they couldn’t do an MRI until the following week, charged us $250 for ICU Monitoring (which she didn’t need! She was not in life threatening or unstable condition). He proceeded to tell us we could call around to see if we could get in for an MRI sooner at another clinic, but was unable to tell us which clinics had the capability - being from out of province we had no idea who to call.. I have also had to wait over 2 weeks just to receive a copy of the claimform and invoice so that I can submit to my pet insurance company. We decided to wait until we were back home to Calgary to do an MRI with a clinic we can trust... turns out we didn’t need one. The vet we saw could tell immediately that there was something else going on, complete a series of X-rays, and diagnosed her with bone cancer in her neck and she was euthanized. I am livid knowing that OVC should have been able to diagnose her 2 weeks sooner and we wouldn’t have had to put her through additional pain and suffering.
Aging I say would be biased: I worked there for 15 years. I will say that this place has some of the most experienced and innovative veterinarians in the province. Referrals only.
Amazing! My dog was paralyzed in the back legs. After back surgery he is now walking and enjoying his life again
Simply the best place for a sick dog. You need a referral from your local vet.
The staff are warm and compassionate people who are highly skilled, knowledgeable and trustworthy. The vets answered my questions about my cat's cancer diagnosis and prognosis clearly and thoroughly, and I never doubted their expertise. It was comforting to know that my cat was in the best hands possible; I felt they truly cared about Jolly. Highly recommend.
Much Ado About Nothing.....
Really good place to study I really like the second cup in here. The view is really nice from the upper floors and there usually isn't anyone else studying here because it's far from main campus
Mahavir Singh Rekhi should be stopped from practicing for good. If Strooband can't do his job he can go too, objective investigation.? What a joke.
We had a great experience with this clinic. Dr Pinard and her staff were very caring and professional with our Schnauzer he had surgery on both eyes and is doing great now. We highly recommend this clinic and plan on returning when the need is there. Thanks very much to Dr Pinard, Suzanne and all of the staff at the optimology department in the Ontario Vetenary College.
‼️‼️BEWARE!!! I brought my year old Frenchy last year in October for hedge tremors, they said she had low potassium and kept her for the night the next morning at work I got a call that her airway had collapsed and I need to come there right away I got there she was on life-support they said she had aspirated and developed pneumonia they had to do an emergency tracheostomy,They told me it would be $8,000 to $10,000 and that was if they could even save her as she developed pneumonia in both lungs when she aspirated, I’m very thankful she pulled through she also had a sliding hiatal hernia that was repaired a few days later the total vet bill was $13,500 .I have about $9000 of this paid off as I pay them $300 a month yesterday my girl was in distress and couldn’t breathe I called them as I called numerous vets they said they could not help her to bring her to OVC where they have the equipment and have dealt with her before, I called and begged them to see her they said they would not see her without the remaining balance of last year‘s stuff paid even though I’m making payments each month and even though I told them I could pay for yesterday‘s visit the staff were horribly rude and said that they would no longer speak to me and they would not help her I beg them to just see her as she needed help the staff on the phone finally said I’m hanging up On you, and Did just that I called every vet on Google begging for someone to help me and I found someone brought her in they said she had fluid in her lungs gave her some needles to turn the mucus in her lungs into liquid so she can per it out and cough it out. This place is a horrible place if you don’t have money they do not care about the pets it’s all about the dollars with them find somewhere else to bring your pet where you can get the help they need because if you are in distress and you don’t have the money upfront they will turn you away and let them die

Terrible place. They will try and rob you blindly!
Awesome place to visit,
Fantastic, knowledgeable and prompt care
I contacted the Ontario Veterinary College in the hope of getting cataract surgery for my cat for less than $4000 but learned that the College charges the same rates as one would pay at a vet's and that one's vet has to make a referral for an animal to be seen at the College. However, my question was answered very quickly and pleasantly.
Great team working there. ????
Cool to see, could get very easily lost if not familiar with the layout. On guelph campus so easy to get to.
DO NOT bring your pet here ever way overpriced brought my dog here a couple years ago had to put him down due to tetanus $7000 for meds even my vet was blown away at the price paid for cremation and never got my pet 's remains back
I cannot explain how grateful I am to OVC. My dog was suspected to have lymphoma and we went to many other animal hospitals in the GTA before going to OVC. None of the animal hospitals were willing to take the time out to fully examine my dog and to explain things. Not only did OVC take the time out to help us understand what was going on, answer our questions and what treatments were available, but they took the initiative to see what was actually wrong with my dog. They did not simply rely on the reports of other animal hospitals and vets. Because of this, not only did they figure out that my dog did have lymphoma, but was developing a second cancer that was largely undetected in urinalysis and blood work. This finding ended up saving my dog's life as we were able to cure the second cancer before it became a full blown problem. I wish all animal hospitals were as compassionate, friendly, patient and caring towards animals. The only downside about OVC is that you need a referral by your local vet to been seen. The referral and how complex the case is, dictate whether they get admitted to OVC. Because of this, sometimes your animal may not get seen quickly by them or the case might not be accepted (this is usually the case when they are full and you are receiving adequate care from somewhere else). However, they are always willing to hear any appeals that you may have.
Thankgoodness for help.
Very compassionate
So my dog had a broken leg and they amputated it
If you care for animals OVC is the place for your donations. 35 years ago I had a very sick dog. They were miles ahead of anywhere with treatments. It is also a wonderful place to honour friend's furry friends by sending in-memorial donations
We were there for BAER hearing tests on 7 pups. The staff were efficient and friendly taking each pup in. It is always a good experience going to OVC!
Best care for family pets I have encountered in my life very comforting at stressful times
Victoria
They make getting your pets claim processed very difficult. I found out they won't even answer medical questions that insurance companies may have even after records are received. This is a huge turn off.
A professional seat of learning with a focus on student success.
most trusted place in Ontario for veterinary services.
Shame on you for re-instating proven animal abuser Dr Mahavir Singh Rekhi. Your organization should be shut down for good for failing to protect animals and regulate abusive doctors. SHAME ON YOU!
Had to take my dog here was very sick absolutely compassionate staff when discussing his illness and when answering questions about the last moments I'm ver grateful to them for trying to help my boy
They saved my pup. Im forever grateful
We had an experience where we had emergency surgery for our dog on a weekend after Midnight. It was a very stressful situation in which we were transferring from the Emergency Vet to OVC. The staff were very responsive and took the time to explain things well but only after making sure our dog was comfortable and stable. They called us before and after surgery as well as 2 times per day while he was recovering with updates. They were compassionate and exceeded our expectations. They run a very good facility there. The other bonus was our quote was higher than the actual bill which is understandable as they had to quote worst case scenario.
Took my bird here and the doctor was great. He knew what he was doing and constantly updated me to let me know what was happening. Ended up having to put her to sleep but the doctor was very empathetic about it and seemed to genuinely care. Would highly recommend this place for bird owners.
Writing in regards to the Skyway Animal Hospital. The OVG school has been held in the highest regards in the world but you are willing to let this proven abuse slip by with a slap on the wrist. This gives this vet the right to close in St. Catharines and open in any other city. A short course in how to handle animals cannot change a person over night from their beliefs. Please keep your standards high and review the suspension given. This can be done. Take this man’s license to practice away from him. This wasn’t a mild case of hurting an animal. This was animal abuse by a Veterinarian being paid by his clients for trust and care in regards to their pets. Thank you. Jene
DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE. The vet tech gave my dog the wrong dosage and killed her. Please do not take your chances.
Super helpful people who actually care, we drive 1.5 hours just to take are dog here. Great doctors and staff true animal People.
wonderful teaching hospital
Friendly, professional, and prompt. I'll let you know my thoughts on price after I get the bill :)
Should I wanna go here?
Always professional.
Ontario Veterinary College saved my little buddy Nacho's life. I have a Yorki 8 months and he is me and my wife's best friend. For 2 weeks my little buddy was feeling sick and after going to see 4 veterinarians 3 of them stated he had a neck injury and I was told to just let him rest for 2 weeks. That was a bad idea, WRONG Diagnosis! 1 of the veterinarians the last one I saw Dr. Amany Ghali from Aquitaine Animal Hospital diagnosed my Nacho right. He knew something was wrong with the little guy and gave him an antibiotic shot which later proved to give my Nacho sometime to live. This was important! At around 2:00 a.m my Nacho was getting up sitting down getting up sitting down moving all around the place like he was confused. He was also moaning so went right away and brought my buddy to Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Animal Hospital. They diagnosed him for about 4 hours and we were told that Nacho was in critical condition and needs to be transferred to Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph. I had to pick Nacho up and drive 1 hour out to Guelph. When I arrived in Guelph at Ontario Veterinary College I was greeted at the front door and he was put right away into the intensive care unit as he was in critical condition. He couldn't even move on the way up driving to Guelph it was like he was dying. After a while we received a call to do some tests on Nacho. They did a CT Scan and found Nacho had a bacterial infection in his brain. He had Bacterial Meningitis in his brain which is EXTREMELY RARE. Ruby Ng from Ontario Veterinary College whom is very polite and knows how to take care of your dog told me the amount of pus in Nacho's brain surprised everyone there that he was still alive. I had to make a decision to operate on my buddy and it was a 50/50 chance as they had no studies for this surgery and they needed to admit Nacho in quick to stop the spreading of the bacteria in his brain. We decided to go with the surgery as I was told my Nacho was fighting for is life. So we decided to proceed with the surgery even though this was a high risk brain surgery that needed to be performed. Me and my wife want to thank Ontario Veterinary College for their expertise and all the staff that helped save my dog Nachos life. This surgery was extremely difficult as it had to do with my dogs brain. Ruby Ng and Gibran Castillo was extremely helpful, very detailed, comforting and very informative keeping us up to date on Nacho's outcome. Fiona James the supervisor who operated on Nacho along with Ruby Ng and Gibran Castillo saved my Nacho's life. Nacho is doing extremely well now and is recovering quickly. This was also over a weekend so I want to thank Ontario Veterinary College for rushing my little buddy Nacho in and performing surgery with perfection and excellence. No other animal hospital could have performed this procedure only Ontario Veterinary College had the expertise to perform this type of brain surgery. Thank you Ontario Veterinary College for saving my Nacho's life. Me and my wife's best friend. 5 stars for Ontario Veterinary College along with Fiona James, Ruby Ng and Gibran Castillo. Thank you for saving my best friends life!
This place is very very expensive, and the staff are really rude and snobby!! Don't go here!
Procedure and knowledge wise, probably the best. Service and communication, it is hit and miss. The first vet was great at communicating and putting himself in our shoes. The second vet was terrible at communicating and had not empathy.
Best vet school in North America
Actually, I wasn't there for the veterinary college. I was attending a cadaver lab in association with the policing and Criminology course I am taking with WLU. It was a learning experience I will never forget. I was very touched by the personal aspect of being able to touch and examine the bodies of those who had donated themselves selflessly.
Took my girl in for tests and surgery. CT scan indicated that surgery wasn't possible. Very upsetting and stressful BUT the entire team was so compassionate from intake to discharge and hopeful about alternative treatment. If the need ever arises with my other pets, I won't hesitate to bring them here.
AWESOME STAFF! Very knowledgable and pet loving! Well worth the trip as your pet is treated like a VIP - patient.
Be prepared to part with your money $$$
Having recently experienced the trauma of a sick animal and of having to use this facility in the treatment of our animal, I can say that they did all they could to bring our animal back to health. Due to Covid we never had a face to face meeting with the team of doctors involved in the treatment. However, the Doctors were always there for our phone calls or text messages and were always patient and never made us feel like they wanted to get off the phone. We hope that we never have to go back there again, but if we do, we know we are in good hands.
