We came to Mitchell’s on referral as our older Lab, Dax, was struggling with a multitude of health issues including walking. Right from our first visit to the rehab center Dr. Gerald Gyorffy and the Team used their skills and compassion to help this special needs dog live another 2 years with quality of life that far exceed our expectations. If Dr. Gerald didn’t know why, he learned and what he did know, he taught us and the Team so that we could all give Dax the best quality of care. From the Vets, to reception, to the office and the kennel staff, every one of them gave that little extra to make our appointments as manageable and flexible as possible, which isn’t easy trying to move a 100 pound disabled dog. When we felt that the situation was hopeless this dedicated Team stepped up and gave us the strength and courage that we could do it. We are so appreciative and grateful that they saw the love and joy Dax brought to our family and respected how important it was that he never suffers. We truly believe it was because of them that Dax was able to live a full life and leave this world on his terms, not ours.

I called MAH based on word of mouth experiences, and they were able to get us in same day, even as a new patient. The next day they performed lab tests while we waited and were able to diagnose the problem with our kitty, Peanut. They offered an injectable medication so we didn't have to struggle with pilling our cat. The office is honestly one of the cleanest vet offices I have seen. They sell hill and royal canin food products, and it seems a lot of people come in just for that. They have a cat waiting area if your cat is frightened of dogs. We never waited past our appointment time, and there are many exam rooms. The staff here is very friendly. Everyone from reception to the technicians are wonderful. We met with Dr. Natalie and she was extremely thorough. She explained all possibilities and outcomes so we could be prepared. When I returned the following day with samples for testing, she tested them right away and came out to sit with me and tell me the results. She took Peanut's health seriously, and gave me peace of mind. There is lots of parking and two entrances, one more where the pet food is. The office is overall laid out well. We look forward to returning to this office for annual check ups and are appreciative knowing they can always fit us in for urgent matters.

My girlfriend and I rushed in, really early, on a Saturday morning because our cat was passing away. The staff and veterinarian were very considerate, patient, and empathetic of our situation. They were great, in short. Unfortunately due to slight miscommunication, my girlfriend and I were confused about the processes and fees in regards to cremations. We were misinformed (on our part) and didnt realize the extra fees regarding some of the cremation services. The owner/veterinarian that originally assisted us felt our distress and reimbursed some of the fees. Very pleasant, understanding, and compassionate, & professional business. We have been dedicated patients at Mitchell Animal Hospital since we moved to KW in 2000. Everyone who works at Mitchell is kind and compassionate not only for the animals they care for, but also for the families. While we have primarily used their services in the past for our cats well being check ups and neutering, we have seen them more frequently since our Puppy Josie joined our family in 2017. This past couple months has had us visiting 3 times a week for Laser Therapy to heal a wound on Josie's Leg. We would have been lost without their care and support for dealing with a difficult injury, plus their compassion and understanding for the financial cost of the injury we were facing. Everyone at Mitchell was very willing to support us and made us feel like family. I could never imagine taking one of our fur babies to any one else!

Worst experience at a vet I’ve ever had. The only saving grace was the front desk and the nurse. The doctor was rude and unprofessional. She told us the dog food we give to our dog is not good(is in same price range as the one the doctor tried to sell us). She just said Royal is better and no further explanation, although the extensive selection available to buy at the front was sufficient. Very dismissive of our concerns and only seemed interested in up selling opportunities. Also was aggressive and accusatory about the lifestyle of our dog even though we’ve had her for less than a month and have barely had time to right the wrongs of her last owners. I’ve never been so uncomfortable in a vet office and would gladly pay more to never have to deal with that nasty woman again.

Our 15 yr old cat has been going to see the great veterinarians here for about two years since moving to the area. Have always had a great experience. Our last visit was during the COVID 19 lock down. The clinic had a good system in place to keep all involved safe. Our cat had a bladder infection and was unable to urinate causing her so much pain. The staff accessed the situation over the phone and then had us bring her to the clinic. The met us at the door and wished her away to be treated. Bringing her back in about 30 minutes. She’s so much happier and the service was great as usual. Highly recommend them.

Blown Away! This was my first visit to them and the difference between my old Vet and my new Vet is night and day! They are warm and welcoming from the phone to the time you enter the office. Dr. Nate sat down on the floor and showed love and compassion to our dog Beans. You could truly see the concern and care. He spent as much time as we needed to answer all our questions and was realistic with pricing and options. To top off the experience as he stated he would, after hours he spent his time writing a lengthy email with details, additional information and friendly closing and has ever intention of follow with more details on Monday! We have taken our pets to MAH for over 13 years. We first took our puppy there when she almost died within the first week of having her. Their vets, tech and admin staff provide excellent service. They call to check up on your pet a few days after an appointment which shows how much they care and which saves you money if any issues have arisen or have not been resolved since the appointment. Their admin staff is very friendly, compassionate, reliable, and efficient. I find that good admin staff can make all the difference at a vet or doctor’s office.

Excellent vet from our experience. Our dog had eaten grapes and they induced him to vomit and were able to get him to vomit them back up. Probably saving his life. I find them over priced for their services and they don't even do a very though job at examining the animals for check ups. They also like to charge for things that they don't tell you about. When I mentioned this I was told by the vet I can take my business somewhere else. Don't worry, I defiantly will!!!

Spent way too much money and endless trips on dishonest services. My cat had an eye infection in the right eye, it took 3 trips, and 3 different vets First trip: VET1 - checked to see if their was an ulcer- none present - spent $150 for an eye drop antibiotic WITH steroid - was not warned of possibility that an ulcer could occur! We were not given a cone, or advised to use one at any time - no mention of herpes - was told that a chamomile press ,that I was doing at home and was helping the swelling, was extremely dangerous and a bad idea- which is 100% untrue - Worst case scenario - removal of the eye Second Trip: VET2 - Steroid drops made eye 100% worse after only a few uses - we were not refunded on medication that was mis-prescribed and almost unused - VET2 found an ulcer- not surprised because apparently it is very common and easy for a cat to develop an ulcer, especially with an already sensitive eye! - Short mention of Upper respiratory tract infections- nothing prescribed, no advice on moving forward - Paid $200+ for new eye drop antibiotic WITHOUT steroid, cone, antibiotic in pill form (+ a dispensary fee for the medication just to be written) - Told to get serious about eye removal Third Trip - VET 3 - Medication did not make the eye worse, but stable - Told to consider a Specialist ($300+) - Told that removal of the eye is most likely option - New eye drop antibiotic WITH steroid - Still no mention of cat herpes or any other possibilities Went to a different clinic - was given a discount for being a new client - discussed cat herpes and upper respiratory tract infection which could be playing a huge part- given l-lysine to help boost immune system - Told that ulcer is scaring, there is no need to remove the eye because it is still functional, causing no pain, she can still see out of it - given an ointment as precaution - however, still cheaper than any one of the visits at Mitchell Animal

Took my kitten here a few months after I had gotten her to get treatment for an upper respiratory infection. The staff at the desk were friendly but the Vet that came to examine my kitten was cold in comparison. I felt there was some judgement when I revealed that my kitten was was barn cat and was told that because of her size and that she was a barn cat she most likely would have feline hepatitis or feline HIV. I left feeling overwhelmed and upset. I can understand being upfront about any possible conditions, but the way it was delivered I believe was in poor taste and unnecessary at that time seeing as I was just looking for antibiotics for her cold.

I've been going here since 2009. My dog has had a lot of health problems, so we go frequently, which he loves! The last couple of years, I've mainly seen Dr. Gerald and Dr. Amber. They, as well as the vet techs, have been thorough, dedicated, and caring. I have never been rushed. The vets have been open to my questions/requests for different pain medications and approve of a home-cooked diet. MAH offers physiotherapy and laser (which I've done), a yearly wellness plan with monthly payments that includes a discount for visits, and lots of parking. They're always able to fit me in on the same day I call and are quick to email back.

So far, I have been here twice. Very friendly and great with my husky puppy! One vet was really good the other seemed a bit scared but was also good. The tiny inspection room was about 30 degrees the second time which irritated me and my good friend with the thick fur coat. Reasonably priced for necessities, but they do promote some optional products that are overpriced (way cheaper online) but thwy are veey clear and honest about what is or is not optional.

We are more than happy to have found Mitchell Animal Hospital for our cat. Dr. Gerald Gyorffy was just amazing with out cat (he handled our problem cat with ease and gave us some valuable tips (which he demonstrated) and what kind of companion to get him, what diet will suit him, etc) He spent over 30 minutes (probably more like 45 minutes) with us explaining different approaches, and answered all our questions in detail. He truly cares about animals and it really shows. Very reasonably priced also. Dec 12, 2016 - Since my last post, we have had another vet at Michell Animal Hospital, and he was as good as Dr. Gerald. I am quite pleased with this hospital.

Having to say goodbye to a beloved family pet is not easy at the best of times. Faced with this decision we visited Mitchell Animal Hospital to aid in this journey. While I do like Dr Gerald he was not available to see my dog who was found through blood work to have kidney failure. He was end stage. The young female vet who was assigned him neglected to do a critical test which could have helped, days later he passed, in a very uncomfortable way. months later I got a puppy. I took her to Mitchell for spaying and was assigned the same vet. I was nervous, I waited at home for my phone call to pick her up. The phone call I received was to tell me my pup died on the operating table. Two dogs gone in three months. I was devastated. I wanted answers, this vet promised me a post mortum report which I never received. I still believe she made an error and it was not disclosed to me. Needless to say I have a new vet who recently neutered my new pup, success!

Brought in my sick cat for a second opinion and was upfront that this was the case. The vet was unable to offer any meaningful diagnosis at all and recommended either euthanasia or sending him to a specialist out of town that would charge thousands and likely would not help. My cat is still very much alive and has a good quality of life still so I'm very glad I did not heed her recommendation. I was also quite disappointed that despite what their website said they really are not able to handle complex problems and have no one on staff who can do ultrasounds. Their website also has no email address listed which is an easy fix that they will hopefully add.

Do NOT go to this vet. The other day my grandfather went in with an emergency for their dog. Yes, it was close to close and yes, he did not make a call. The reason for this is because he didn't know he had to and it was an emergency as his dog was no longer able to breathe. He went in thinking it would be okay since it was a real big emergency. The associates then told him that the emergency does not matter and that he needs to call and make an appointment. They didn't even advise him to go to the animal hospital that is 24/7, this was a hospital he didn't know existed. Now, it doesn't take a vet to realize that if a dog can't breathe it is a serious problem. I think it is cruel and inhumane to not help an animal that can't breathe regardless of the hours of operation. If I can stay an hour later at a retail store so someone can buy shoes, a vet should be willing to care for an animal that is ill. Now, needless to say, my grandfather's dog passed and he booked an appointment with a different vet. That vet even advised if the day he originally went in if they would have helped she could still be here today. It is inhumane that a vet is not really to work a little bit longer in order to save a dog's life.

Our Golden seemed to be panting excessively and was extremely cuddly (out of character) but other than that was eating well. Dr. Natalie listened patiently and did a full exam - all seemed normal. She noted a few things that could be of concern so recommended blood work. She phoned both my husband and I the next day to provide the results. She was very helpful and understanding. I also brought up an issue I had with a prior Golden of ours, and shared my possible fears for our current Golden and guilt over her passing. Dr. Natalie listened patiently and explained the illness our prior dog had in detail and assured me there was nothing I could have done to save her. Everyone I have dealt with at Mitchell has been kind, empathetic and knowledgeable.

If your pet has an emergency go no where else ! They went above and beyond we didnt think my dog was going to make it she had a bad infection and required emergency surgery they got her in that day got her stable. This vet is the nicest vet we have ever worked with. All my 3 BIG 110-130 lbs dogs LOVE coming here. They are so accommodating, even when you call in for an emergency or simply to ask if you can bump the time of your appointment during that day. We don't do this all the time to them, but when we do it makes are busy lives easier. The way they handle our pets with respect and love shows because it takes 1-2 people at their clinic to do the same blood test on my dog who comes out happy, where as at another clinic they need 4 assistants and my dog comes out screaming. We actually discovered this vet after our old vet misdiagnosed our dog with an ASL injury which was actually an infection in the knee that required emergency surgery before it became sceptic. The mistake of the old vet costed us $6k and with the help of Mitchell, the mistake didn't cost our dog her life. Mitchell figured it out because they took x-rays and sent it off to a local 24 emergency vet near by that understood the very mysterious swollen-knee x-rays better. I love them for that, they don't let the care of your dog stop just because they are unsure themselves of the next steps for care, they will always refer you to the best if that is what you ultimately need. Simply put, quality service before profit. 5 stars.

Ridiculous! Horrible ! I will avoid this place in the future if possible. Several vet techs ignored me standing by their door for 30 mins past the scheduled appointment time and then gave me attitude when I asked what was happening. They said they were so busy they didnt have enough time to acknowledge me. I was shocked and said how much time does it take to say " we will be right with you" ? Then I got more attitude from the vet tech. Gerald has been great in the past but his employees are not maintaining his level of care anymore.

My cat has seizures last year and we took her in, the vets themselves and vet tech etc are awesome and make sure they really take care of you. -This is more specific to my case- However, I did some research and found that the food I was feeding her (BFF brand at pet valu/petsmart) had been recalled in Australia for the same reasons, low vitamin b12 causing seizures in cats. They told me it wouldn’t affect Canada as it’s different suppliers. However the moment I switched the food and decided to try no meds, she was fine. The meds made her very depressed so I was surprised they didn’t want to entertain the idea. Dr. Nate dealt with her ear infection most recently, and he is awesome! I have never felt so reassured, made me feel like my small issue of an ear infection was as important to him as I was to me. The staff are wonderful here! Overall this place is good, friendly and caring. Will continue taking my pets here!

This place is fabulous! We just visited for the 2nd time. Today we brought Rusty, our 1 year old ginger boy, to get him checked out as a precursor to his neutering. Mitchell Animal Clinic is so thorough that, as last time when we brought Jinxy, our 16 year old DLH, they apprised us of any/all possible underlying issues that may reside due to specificity of breed, age, lifestyle, etc. This kind of detail orientation is so absolutely valuable, and quite surprisingly, minimally charged, that we just cannot see ourselves ever going elsewhere again. Just another fantastic reason to have relocated to the K-W area. We are just so pleased and the only possible way for Rusty's consult to have gone better, were if it had been possible to be able to cosmetically salvage the aesthetic value of our little guys testicals with...some silicone implants, perhaps. I know it's a silly request, so I didn't...but, he so cutely displays them, and this subtraction seems like it just might affect/damage his little ego. Ok. I think we've got more than necessarily needed here. Thanks a lot Mitchell Animal Clinic & the city of Kitchener, Hell Waterloo too! This restart could not have gone any better.
