Good quality is an understatement. Every single employee, technician and my pups vet are out of this world amazing. Wonderful. Good covid precautions. The staff are very friendly and helpful, very patiently answered all of my questions. You could tell they really cared about the animals brought into their care. The vet that saw my cat through her vaccinations and spaying was super, very patient and kind to the cat throughout. Neatest stitches I've seen in my life. And to top it all off when I was worried about her sutures they let me bring her in for a quick follow up with no hassle. Absolutely recommend.

While I understood the reason I needed to get my new puppy checked out for an issue I thought he had and get his first round of shots. Dr.Ira was very wonderful to work with and answered any questions and concerns I had, Apollo enjoyed him very much after warming up with some treats and was even given a toy after. Dr. Champion and her team are friendly and down to earth. They work together great as a team and create a wonderful energetic environment. My dog and cat were more relaxed going to Cumberland Vet than any other vet we've been to. They care about the dogs and owners more than anything and I've never felt they over charged me for anything. Dr. Champion has a great balance of medical and natural philosophy that works perfectly for me. I have felt much more secure as a pet owner with her support as my animal doctor and I would recommend her clinic to anyone and already have! I wouldn't want to leave the Comox Valley purely because I have finally found the perfect vet. They are the best!

Been going to Dr. Currie for years. She is compassionate, friendly and most of all honest. In a world where people will try to get you to do things that cost, just for the sales, she has never tried to push anything that wasn't in the best interests of my kitties health and (in the case of my poor Alchemy, who we did have to put to sleep because he was just too ill) what was best for their quality of life. I am so grateful I found her, now if I could only find a human doctor as good!

Had an emergency with my cat, urinary blockage. Initially took him to the university where it would have ended up being almost $3500, without the inclusion of special food and meds. Cumberland is much more affordable, everything was less than half the price as the university and that included meds and food. They certainly know what they're doing there too. I was called the next day to see how my cat was doing and gave us some more information, as well answered all my questions. Truly appreciate Dr. Neufeld and her colleagues.

Really love this veterinary clinic. The reception is wonderful and welcoming. The vets are awesome and they really care about your beloved pets. I take my 2 dogs and 2 cats there and never had 1 bad experience. The staff are very knowledgeable. The vet assistants are very friendly and helpful. I will be going here for years to come! I highly recommend this place if you ever need a vet. There’s always parking available close to the doors. They give free treats to your babies when you are waiting and make sure your animals are comfortable and happy. They have a great affordable pet plan that saves us money for our doggies.

I went through here going across country and they made time for me and were so very compassionate toward my old cat. You can tell they love animals and treat each case with sympathy and care. Everything was explained to me and I was shown how to administer the medications my furry friend needed. They called to check up on the little guy 2-3 times before the trip was done. Truly excellent care and a place I would not hesitate to bring my animals again if it was in closer proximity. Staff was good and friendly. Not a fan of all the fees. Just wanted to make sure my dog was okay. Ended up with a quote for service , it's a pet not a car the final bill was less than the quote only because I didn't get a bunch of unnecessary test done.

Diagnostics aren’t timely enough and they don’t act in an emergency situation and the triage that was required to assess the increasing symptoms of vomiting on Tuesday to discomfort, drooling and depression 24 hours later Wednesday morning warranted far more than ANOTHER 30 hours waiting it out in their clinic on fluids. I should have been referred out for emergency diagnostics. But by the time their diagnostic capabilities showed evidence of a blockage/torsion 48 hours after first arriving at this clinic to seek help (painfully waiting for results for blood to come back from Vancouver, waiting to ship him to another vet for ultrasound in Courtenay-which should have been done Wednesday morning, if not Tuesday, NOT THURSDAY LATE MORNING), surgery was just an insult to my poor dog’s injury and he died of septic shock. In fact he was already septic at surgery, shown by the histology report after the fact. He was then left to die post op when (admitted by the vet later) he should have been euthanized hours before he finally died when I showed up and sat with him one last time for an hour, questioning why we weren’t euthanizing him. The worst traumatic experience of my life. If you feel you need diagnostics results fast, I discovered the painful and hard way, they do not have the ability and seem to be ridiculously fine with risking waiting to take action in an emergency situation.

The most amazing service I have ever received. I called regarding my rescue dog this morning, and they booked him in for surgery immediately. The technicians, receptionist, and veterinarian herself were so extremely compassionate towards myself as a new dog mom and my rescue dog. Amazing, professional and accommodating since the very first visit! They squeezed us in last minute when an eye infection came up, and even though they were fully booked we didn't feel rushed - in fact I felt less rushed than I have been at other vets where I had made the appointment weeks ahead of time. They have even emailed me on several occasions to follow up and see how my dog is doing - I'm just totally impressed. Super thrilled with the service here and I will be bringing my two boys here for hopefully many years to come! You would be wise to do the same :)

You guys are usually very nice and give great service but my boyfriend has had more then one complaint of you guys refusing to cut our dogs nails. It’s understandable if you guys are swamped and super busy but at 5pm when it’s dead and half an hour before you close? ... I don’t think so. He came in there today at 5pm to get them cut but you guys told him there was nobody in who did that while there were three of you sitting there chatting. Aren’t you guys vet techs and shouldn’t you know how to cut dogs nails??? This has happened more then once before and I wanted to give you guys the benefit of the doubt but not anymore. If it is such a problem for you guys to cut dogs nails then maybe you shouldn’t advertise unlimited nail trimmings especially for the optimum plan.

I laid down on the comforter with my dog and they gave me so much time with her. I felt so comfortable and I know she did too. Outside of regular checkups for my 2 cats the few (but nerve wracking!) instances I've needed more urgent vet care Cumberland clinic has been amazing. I've been walked through scenarios I can handle at home myself over the phone free of charge. Just yesterday when I wasn't sure if I needed to bring my male cat in or not, I was reassured better safe than sorry and even during all this craziness my call was returned within the half hour and they made time for me almost immediately same day.

From lack of veterinary experience to missed bloodwork to extremely disorganized front line staff to poor animal management and care, I don’t know how anyone could recommend this vet clinic unless you have no medical experience in order to advocate for your pet (which most people don’t have) and just go with the flow and hope everything is ok. Worst vet I have ever been to. My poor doggie will be better off not going there and so will my bank account.

Very disappointed in today's visit. Took my dog for her Bordetella vaccine, and she ended up receiving the wrong vaccination. They gave her rabies and parvo vaccines, which were still current by the way, and didn't even give her Bordetella vaccine. When I realized their error, I returned at which time they finally gave her the correct vaccination, and charged me full price and no apology.

I brought my cat KitKat in for a yearly check-up and updated vaccines, etc. I was extremely impressed with their patience with a suddenly not-so-friendly cat when it came to nail clipping! I never felt rushed during the visit and had lots of time to ask questions and had them answered in clear language and reassurance that I was doing things right as a first time pet owner. All three of the vets that practice here are wonderful, but my pack and I’s fave is definitely Dr. Chotowetz. The staff, especially the vet techs, are always professional, kind and patient. I love that they’re always excited to see my pack members. Both of my dogs had major injuries, the dogs and my self were well taken care of. I feel confident in their abilities and trust their judgment implicitly. I know that my animals are being treated with lots of love and care, the staff go above and beyond. Our dogs love going there even when they know they're getting shots or, recently, an excision with frequent follow up visits with an eventual revision and re-closure of the wound. We received follow up calls each time and the staff and vets treat us like people who care about their pets, not just customers. Have had to put two dogs down and that's never a great experience, but we felt comfortable doing it there.

They even gave me a few follow-up calls to make sure things were going well, and some ideas for things to look for that might signal any changes. Overall very positive experience (or, at least as positive as it can be, since you’re taking your pet to the vet), and I’d highly recommend them.

I was there less than a year ago on an emergency basis as my dog was having pain while urinating. $879 Later they gave me some pain meds and basically said they can’t find anything wrong. Xrays, (not to mention a charge for someone to look at the xrays!?)urinalysis and bloodwork apparently nothing showed. He seemed to get better on his own, but now this past week he needed emergency surgery due to bladder stone blockage (I went to another place) and they said they had to be there for quite some time to cause as much damage as they did!! they were able to find out right away what was wrong for $160.. plus do the surgery costing $908. This place just wants your money, they do not care about your pet at all. Find somewhere else that will actually listen to your concerns, and not charge you a two weeks wage for it!

Have had Cumberland as my Vet clinic for 9 years . I have complete confidence in this clinic . Dr. Chotowetz has been the reason I highly recommend this Clinic . I met her at one of my sons hockey games . Her son played hockey with my son . The reason I tell you this is I am a dog nut and have had dogs for forty years . (4 large dogs) . Dr. Chotowetz and I had never met and I noticed that night she was reading a very large book on dogs . We talked and as a result I started taking my Keesha ( lab / border collie x) to her clinic . Dr. Chotowetz has been exemplary in her veterinary skills and her personal touch to her work has been greatly appreciated. She is one fantastic person and vet . My partner and her son went in for an appointment to go over vaccines and get a deworming and the veterinary assistant, then Dr Champion herself were extremely rude. They proceeded to argue with her, laugh in her face when she was requesting half of the quite potent Rabies vaccine for her puppy. This was all infront of her 7 year old son. The service recieved today was rude and abysmal. Disappointing for our great lil town. We both will be finding other care for our furry family members. I suggest if anyone has any opinions about vaccines and how unnecessary many are that they do the same because they will not want to listen to you at Champion vet.

Dr Neufeld is happy to prescribe medication to my dog but not able to discuss the medication or any alternative over the phone. After charging over $600 for a basic visit and a couple of tests only 7 weeks ago, a quick chat to discuss the dogs symptoms and medication would be expected. Instead I have to book another visit, which in covid times we are trying to avoid and charge me again for a visit when aquire chat would solve. Too expensive and what seems like a money grab. Happy to sell me the medication, will not discuss the medication over the phone. Not using these guys again.
