My grandfather and I brought in our elderly family dog, who was experiencing a lot of pain for a quality of life assessment. Though we gave full information about his horrible pain and issues with incontinence, the chipper vet suggested we try expensive pain medications on him. It was even a struggle to get him loaded into the car without being in pain. We took her advice and a week later we had to put him down. This vet is an insensitive money-grabber, insensitive to elderly dogs and humans.

In the past year and a half I’ve adopted four amazing cats through the SPCA. We tried a few vets in Abbotsford but after watching how they man handled one of the cats, who is honestly the sweetest little girl and is so complacent with checkups, we finally took them to Ellwood. I’ve had dogs my entire life and cats are a new venture for me and I’m so grateful for Ellwood for helping me with this adventure. One of the cats consistently had eyes problems and would scratch and none of the other vets cared to find the root of the problem, they just wanted to perform eye exams to charge for the process and give eye drops. Ellwood helped us discover she has a chicken allergy and since then her eye problems have cleared up. Two of them came down with a case of feline herpes and while one just sneezed a lot, the other got a nasty eye infection and I was so terrified. The staff here recognized that and helped us through the process and called multiple times throughout his medication period to check in and I was blown away. This office truly goes above and beyond in caring for their patients and I cannot wait for when COVID isn’t a concern so I can take my cats in again. While they’re still open to care for the animals, it’s just my personal preference to be with my kitties during examination unless it’s emergent, like the eye infection.

Best vet ever. Doctor Snopek has been our family vet for over 15 years. He is always kind, considerate and thorough. He takes the time to talk to you and has never been pushy with expensive drugs, surgery or procedures. When we had to put down our elderly, family dog many years ago, he came to our home and patiently waited while we said goodbye. He took the time to explain what to expect from the process and she was able to pass away, relaxed in her bed surrounded by her family. I recommend Dr Snopek and his team to everyone.

You will find that some services are more expensive here than at other places. It's worth it. The group at Ellwood Park get it: They understand what excellence is, and how it is achieved. Their compassion is both generous and sincere. They genuinely care for the animals we entrust to them, and back up that caring with absolutely first-rate veterinary competencies. I have never, not once, been unhappy or disappointed with Ellwood, through more than fifteen years, five dogs, two cats and three guinea pigs.

My grandparents had to move to a different vet office, one closer to their home. When asks to transfer files, they said they didn't have them or they got lost. First of all, do you really want vets that lose files? That's unprofessional. The flip side is also awful, not wanting to share? My grandparents cats and dogs lives could be endangered. Additionally, when they didn't bring in their 18 year old cat for her check-up-(READ: NEW VET), they called SPCA to bring her in and, as a result had to be put down. It was an awful experience, as any loss of a family member would be, but this hurt so much worse. There was no respect or love for our family member of 20 years. Ellwood truly doesnt care for families.

The vets here are decent, the main vet who runs the hospital is rare to connect with while there. They're pricey as well. I have two dogs and a cat and have spent quite a bit of money here. All in all they've been good so far but could use improvement as far as giving people who spend alot of money there a bit of a break on minor things like cultures etc.

The staff here are amazing. I recently had to put my dog down and it was quite unexpected. They patiently answered each question I had and moved things around to fit my dog in. The staff here went above and beyond to be as patient, kind, and considerate as possible. Due to COVID I was afraid I wouldn't get to be with him as his life ended but the staff put a blanket down out back in their dog run where I got to sit with him as they gave him the injection. Through such a difficult circumstance, I felt nothing but empathy from the staff. Dr. Dean, Dr. Engle, Darlene, and all the staff are exceptional at their jobs.

MUST READ: I brought a claim against Ellwood Park Animal Hospital through the CRT for the lack of communication I received as an owner. My cat died last December after having an endoscopy procedure at Ellwood Park. As I did not have an expert witness, specifically another veterinarian to support the claim, it was dismissed. A complaint to the College of Veterinarians of B.C. is on going. Ellwood Park is a clean facility and I would recommend them for basic, simple checks. I would NOT recommend them, if your animal has to be put under and you are spending thousands of dollars. There are other animal hospitals that have the equipment and time to monitor your animal, such as the AEHFV in Langley. Elwood offered a refund for the procedure, but this was not my goal. It was about duty of care and client communication. I hope my actions brought awareness to Elwood Park and they have implemented changes.

On November 23 we took our dog in to have his blood pressure check after going on meds. Original vet bill was over $250 mark which was fine, but then to have to pay $83.22 to have my dogs blood pressure taken was crazy. He was in the clinic less than 5 minutes. I even questioned the assistant several times about this and was assured that it would be a minimal charge. I emailed a few days later to express my feelings and have never heard back from them. I am incredibly disappointed that there has been no follow up or email back. I will now be switching to another vet clinic.

I have never, ever been to a better animal hospital and I've had pets all my life. The building is very clean with a nice atmosphere. The receptionists are very kind and helpful, and the veterinarians are very thorough and take the time to actually talk with you about your pet in ways that are easy to understand and straight forward. They don't act like they are in a rush to get you in and out even though you know it's very busy. I only wish I had found this place sooner since I will be moving out of province shortly.

My family and I have been going here for over 20 years. Dr Snopek is wonderful, he’s taken care of all of our cats and dogs. One time I found an abandoned kitten who was injured. It was a long weekend and I wasn’t sure what to do. I brought the kitten to his office and he patched the little guy up. One of his employees ended up adopting the kitty and he found his forever home. This is just an example of the love and care they have here. I highly recommend this office to anyone

Ellwood hospital is where we have been bringing our cat Bambam for the last couple of years. He has had his yearly shots and physicals there and most recently he underwent a dental procedure that required anesthesia. He is a 14 year old cat and we were scared of him going under and having the surgery because of his age. Dr. Kelly O’Blenis, Sarah and Jessica we can’t thank you enough for taking such good care of our little guy! You are all shining examples of first class care and compassion. Thank you for your quick assessment of what he needed to have done and for carefully monitoring him throughout the surgery. The mindfulness and expertise my pets receive at Ellwood is bar none. I switched to them years ago with my late pup, and the knowledge, care and compassion we received with her regular visits throughout her too-short life was unexpectedly remarkable! All of the vets were extremely honest, informative, reasonable and clear about our options, and the empathy expressed shows true character and compassion for what they do. They were all also very supportive and understanding about the difficult decisions that would have to be made during each prognosis. All three of my current dogs love to visit with the staff during their checkups, and I have comfort in knowing they are receiving expert care. While they are on the high end of average for SOME pricing, you can rest assured knowing you’ll always get more than you pay for with each visit. I‘ve recommended and had many of my local friends and family switch to Ellwood and everyone is always pleased with their service.

Our experience here started off terribly. Our pup was terrified to go in and the experience of being carried in without my husband wasn't pleasant. There were contributing factors such as COVID restrictions and a dog barking on the way in, so we chalked it up to a fearful pup and exacerbating situation. My telephone conversation with the Vet went well and after the eventful entry in our pup was happy to eat treats throughout his visit and left with his tail wagging. The negative review stems from after the fact. During the phone call with the Vet she recommended a medication for the prevention and treatment of fleas/ticks. When we got home and reviewed the medication, Credelio (Lotilaner), we discovered it was not recommended by our Breeder and in our signed contract actually voided our health guarantee. I contacted their reception and she stated they do not accept returns. After explaining the situation, she checked with her supervisor and would not accept the return. They were also unwilling to offer any type of compromise. The box remains unopened and packaging intact. The receptionist inferred that it was a "lesson learned, " recommended to "donate it to the SPCA" and when I was persistent she actually asked me "are you done here?" I should note the medication cost $118.14. The reason it null and voids our contract is the class of drug has shown a history of adverse effects including tremors, neurological effects and seizures. More commonly diarrhea, weight loss, adverse kidney function. It is disappointing to receive such poor customer service from an Animal Hospital that has such great reviews. Even more disappointing they would recommend a medication with these side effects and not be willing to work with the customer when there is a legitimate reason for return one that included a lack of communications regarding the potential side effects. If you bought your pet from a reputable breeder be sure to bring a copy of your contract, as I have learned you need to compare it with what is recommended at the door otherwise you're stuck with a medication you can't administer while they've made off with your cash.

I just adopted a dog and took her to Ellwood for a first visit. Due to COVID pet parents wait outside during the exam and then the vet will call and go over the results over the phone. Dr Snopek was incredible! He stayed on the phone nearly 20 minutes answering all my questions and going over the exam thoroughly. The next day, unluckily, my new pup got into an altercation with my cat and needed to be seen as an emergency. I called a few vets/hospitals closer to me and nobody would see her. Not only did Dr. Kelly at Ellwood stay LATE to see her, they waited while I fought through rush hour traffic and were incredibly kind and took excellent care of my sweetheart. They are the real deal here at Ellwood! I can't thank the wonderful techs and vets enough for their professional care and kindness. It's an extra 20 minutes for me to drive here than other vets in Abbotsford but it's well worth it in the long run and I won't be going anywhere else!

I decided to go to Elwood Animal hospital and the doctor seemed to know exactly what to do. They are very Knowledgeable and my dog get well in no time. The staff is also very friendly and will help you with anything. I would highly recommend Elwood Animal hospital.
