They overcharge for regular check-ups. They want 90 bucks just to ask the vet a simple question or to refill a known prescription like antibiotic cream for hotspots. Just today when I was calling to book for flea and tick blood tests I asked if the vet could take a quick look at my dogs mouth (prior visit). I was told it would cost me 90 bucks. I was already looking at $60 for blood test plus another fee for spring check up and the preventative meds that I would have bought for my dog. It would have cost me close to $200 then they wanted $90 more to look at her mouth. I told them I needed to get off the phone. When I first brought my dog to them for shots they said she was pregnant. I ended up paying for that visit as well as buying special pet food for pregnant dogs. Turned out my dog wasn't pregnant. After all of that I still had to rebook the vaccinations and pay for that. I've had visits where the vet doesn't even touch the dog; she just stands at the desk and takes a lot of notes. We overpay for all the BS paperwork and administration. One time when my dog had a open sore from a grooming accident, I brought her in to be looked at. The vet looked at the wound (but did not touch or treat it) and prescribed meds and said I should try to clean the wound the best I could. That's when I lost it and said that was the main reason I was paying 90 bucks for the visit. I literally had to beg and plead for the staff to help me shave the hair around the wound and assist me in cleaning it. Aside from the pregnancy faux pas, they are competent and provide good care. If you have boatloads of money maybe this is your place.

I took my rat in and they were very caring and considerate. I unfortunately had to put her down but they helped me as much as they could. They even call you to check in on your pets progress. I definitely recommend this vet. They're one of the only vets that treat rats and they're prices were responsible.

Went to get my chameleon put down who was in very poor condition. Nurse who lead us into the room was fondling, talking, and playing with my chameleon before the euthanasia began. Unbelievably disrespectful and painful to watch when losing a friend. I would not recommend getting your pets euthanized here. Ridiculous behavior.

Every time we leave this clinic, I have a higher opinion of them. It is evident that the staff truly care about the animals they are tending. One of our dogs is very nervous, and the staff is always so kind and gentle with him. If he's particularly nervous, they let our other dog go with him (the running joke is that she's his emotional support dog). They are always pleasant to deal with, upfront and honest. I have full trust in them when it comes to our dogs and their care.Even with Covid, the clinic runs like a well oiled machine. So pleased with the service and grateful that we switched from our previous vet.

I am very impressed with this clinic! My chinchilla had gotten a big bump on her chest and I was very scared as I did not know what was going on. they made time for her instantly and took her in to get checked out even though it was last minute. I’ve been taking my hedgehog here for almost 3 years now. They are by far the best vet we have ever seen. Previous vets we’ve seen had no experience with hedgehogs, so it was basically just a guessing game. It is comforting to know that the veterinarian is knowledgeable and comfortable with treating hedgehogs. As far as pricing goes, Preston Animal Clinic is far better than any other exotic animal vet that I’ve seen. All of the staff are kind, friendly and are genuinely concerned for the health of your pet.

Recommended: I have gone here several times even with some years inbetween visits and they do well to remember your pet. I recently had to put down one of my rabbits and it was a good experience, as good as losing a loved pet can be. We wanted to be sure that we were making the right decision, so a veterinarian came in and gave us an extensive explanation of his condition. We felt certain we were making the right decision. They were very patient with us, the cost was reasonable (~$150) and they offer a pawprint impression gift for those who don't want the ashes.

I've been going to the folks over at Preston Animal Clinic for about 4 years now. If I could summarize it in 3 words; professional, helpful, genuine. I'm a lifelong ferret owner, being that the animal is classified as 'exotic' can make things a little tougher when looking for a solid vet to look after your fuzzbutt family. I don't need to look any further. I have never felt pressured, the pricing is competitive, I do find the lack of detail on the invoices to be a little concerning. The service is always prompt and professional. Overall, working with the staff feels like a collaboration rather than simply a transaction. They have worked with me to help keep costs reasonable. They care about the work they do and it shows.

We started coming here about 10-12 years ago when we got ferrets and being that ferrets are a little exotic they were an ideal vet. Ever since they have been great with our bulldog and my girlfriends rats and now my brothers new ferrets. They're quick to tell you a cheaper solution to expensive vet drugs or prescriptions and aren't there to just try and sell you whatever they sell. Also very accommodating with appointment times and emergencies, we had some issues with Vegas (our bulldog) over the summer and phone at 7pm knowing they close at 8pm and on multiple occasions have said just come now and we'll get her sorted out before the end of the day, all of which held them back from going home at their scheduled 8pm close. We don't always get the same vet but all the girls tend to remember Vegas and their records always line up, we never have to explain things twice. Definite asset when you're dealing in your animals health. What good would a vet be without detailed health records? I've recommended lots of people that have made this vet their go to now, whether it's an exotic animal or an everyday cat and dog they're more than happy to cater to your needs.

I just wanted to write a review about how incredibly compassionate the people who own, run and work at Preston Animal Clinic are ???? My dog was diabetic and lost both his eyes. He still adored them all and loved going in. All went above and Beyond at all times. Made the whole experience so much better then it could have been. Can't say enough good things and I recommend to anyone looking for a quality, caring, compassionate, professional, family atmosphere and can't thank them for all they have done!

Amazing clinic! They go out of their way to make the animals feel comfortable there. I have 2 cats. Ive taken them both in here. They have a designated cat room with a litter box, a towel on the hard metal table, toys, all kinds of different treats and nip, and use a feliway diffuser. My cats dont want to leave! Vets are also awesome and very knowledgeable. Again, great clinic!!!

We recently moved and selected this vet on my dog walkers recommendation. I was so happy with our first annual visit. The staff were amazing, especially our vet. She seemed to actually love dogs, she explained everything thoroughly without me needing to ask. She didn't seem like she was in a rush and she genuinely seemed to care about my dog and getting to know her. I have had previous vets and sometimes they can seemed to be indifferent to animals. I feel better having both a knowledgable and caring vet looking after my dog. There was no issue ordering our special order heart worm or tick medication and reception staff were extremely prompt in updating me on a slight delay in delivery for one of the meds when I inquired

Really glad to find this awesome clinic. All staffs are very nice and patient. Brought my sweet Caramel (4 years old guinea pig) in yesterday. She has a really big tumour on her shoulder. Doctor Laurie is very kind and knowledgeable. She explained all the options and the worse results with me. Unfortunately test result confirmed the tumour is an aggressive one. Luckily Caramel is doing all fine at the moment. Eating and moving a Lot as usual. Will monitor her behaviour change. With medications, hope I can keep her for another year. Highly recommend this clinic. Definitely will come back for all my furry friends.

I've been going here for at least 15 years and they have been absolutely amazing with all of my various pets over the years. While they may be pricier than other clinics, they truly care about what's best for the animals and will do everything and anything in the animal's best interest. Also, they take injured wildlife such as turtles, birds, and other animals and treat them and release them to reputable wildlife rehabilitation facilities. I could not ask for a better group of doctors for my furry family!

Compassion and understanding. Preston animal clinic came to my rescue today. I found an injured baby bird. I called and messaged other organizations and was told they would put the bird down. Preston animal clinic told me I could bring him in and they would see to his needs. I called back and he will be moved to a wildlife sanctuary.

Hey folks. If you are ever looking for a vet clinic that takes care of your furry friend in the Cambridge area, you need to consider Preston Animal Clinic. My senior cat was there last night and had misbehaved at the clinic and was just downright upset and scared of his visit to the vet. They treated him with absolute compassion and friendliness when he wasn’t behaving and did everything they could to make him calm. They kept me updated the whole time through and stayed after hours for a little bit to make sure he was ready to go home after a rather eventful visit with them. From what I understand it took a team effort to work with him last night. Being a cat dad (lol!) I appreciated how they took good care of him and kept me updated through the evening. I cannot say enough, how appreciative I am of all the staff last night in dealing with him. He was one heck of a challenge from what was told to me. They did a great job.

The vets here are so kind and compassionate. When my bunny was not doing well, Dr. Bob called to check in almost every other day. The staff here go above and beyond to make sure your pet is loved and cared for. I wish the prices for the appointments were a bit less, but as long as my fur babies are cared for I am happy! Just wanted to say that Dr. Isabelle is a true gem. My Fluffy has been here multiple times in the past year because of an ear infection and bladder issues. She is treated with so much care and respect. I'm hoping to transfer my other pets to this vet as well.

The most amazing animal clinic there is. Each and every staff member here is incredibly personable and they truly do care. They always make not only our animals comfortable and feel loved, but us as well! Plus, Dr Isabelle is an absolute gem, and even reached out to us personally after we let the clinic know that one of our birds had passed. Cannot recommend this team enough! I've taken my dogs to several veterinarian clinics in my life as I've moved from place to place. This is definitely the best clinic I've ever been to. They are small enough that they get to know you personally. The staff members are always kind, compassionate, caring, and will always go out of their way to help and propose solutions. Dr. MacDonald is incredible, and one of the most knowledgeable and caring vets I've ever known. She clearly chose the right vocation as she communicates with animals on their level and seems to be able to read their emotions and feelings. She's empathetic with animals and their owners equally. I can't imagine going to any other clinic while I live in driving distance of Preston Animal Clinic.

I have dealt with this clinic for roughly 25 years, two dogs and four cats. We have always been treated well whether it was something simple like purchasing food or when someone was being put to sleep. The four cats, Ditka, Pinball, Tinker and Tiger dealt with Amanda or as I call her Dr. Mac. Amanda is not only really good in treating your pet medically she is also very caring and compassionate toward both the pet and the owner. I lost my last pet on the 3rd of this month and with a move out of the area in the near future I will no longer be dealing with Preston Animal Clinic. I can state wholeheartedly that if I was going to adopt another pet and remain in Waterloo Region this is where they would go.

I came to them with my very sick beagle. The gave me a breakdown of my options and the costs involved. Sadly I had to have him put down. They walked us into the examining room, told me what was going to happen and they gave me plenty of time to say goodbye to my dog. We were told this is the only vet in the area that takes wild animals. We had a pigeon hanging around that wouldn't fly but would run. After looking into it we were told that if we could catch it we could bring it here! They will assess the animal and then get it to a rehab facility. The lady at the desk was fantastic and very helpful! We were very pleased with our experience and would recommend Preston Animal Clinic to anyone looking for a vet.

I went to preston animal clinic under the worst possible circumstances ever. I went to another vet where I feel like my dogs were not assessed properly. Leading me to rush two of my 3 dogs to preston.. each dog was their first visit ever to this clinic. I never ever have seen so many great staff members in one place. They make you feel at home... they did everything they could to help me save my 14 month old dane unfortunately he passed.. if he was diagnosed properly at the start (at the first vet) then he would still be here... so people saying they are two expensive I disagree if I went here in the first place I truly believe I'd still have emy dog and 1000s of dollars back from trying to save his life.

These guys are great. We have a rabbit, and we struggled to find a vets that didn't simply treat him like they would a cat or dog. These guys know their stuff, and gave me the confidence I needed put my fur baby in their good hands. They are very generous with their knowledge and have taught us some valuable lessons in how to give our boy what he needs for a long, happy, healthy life. This is the clinic you will want to patronize.... I just wish we lived closer to Cambridge. As a small business owner in the animal industry these guys are in it for the right reasons and for all living creatures. I rescued a robin from the middle of the road with a wing injury on the Friday night of the long weekend. This clinic was referred to me as a clinic that will assess the little bird NO CHARGE and release to a local rehabilitator. Who does that...especially for someone out of town who has never patronized them. The staff is super friendly and very helpful over the phone and my husband reported the same in person. This is an animal clinic that respects all walks of life.
