My entire family brings their dogs here, and has for at least the last ~20 years. When I got my dog, I brought her somewhere in Guelph close to where I live - bad idea. I don’t know why I didn’t just start at Main Street. I brought my pup in for a check up (she was a stray dog for the first 6 months of her life), and Ashley were so thorough and gentle with my scared little baby. Then she got a nasty virus and Dan was also so thorough and checked for all the scary things (all negative - yay!) and got her treated and cared for. I’m so thankful for Main Street for how wonderful they are and taking such incredible care of my girl, and making sure that my anxiety is under control as well. They’re amazing!

For the most part, they seem to work with us. We've had horses and dogs that have been treated by vets from this office. They try to take our needs/capabilities into consideration. Took my dog in because he had a massive tumor around his anus. They did a biopsy but couldn't be bothered to call me for several days after they had the results in hand. Dr. Karen said she would refer us to Guelph because the tumor was too big for them to treat. It has been over a month now and still no referral. We are new to the area, have two dogs and 3 horses... none of which they will ever get a chance to treat. Terrible customer service.

Wait times excessive (40 mins after confirmed time of 2pm). Communication to clients is sub par (called 8:20am for supposed ultrasound appointment for that morning between 8:30am -11am - but no one ever called previously to tell us an appointment was booked). Not customer focused at all. Notice ‘customer’. The pets are taken care of, will note that Unfortunately need to move to another vet now, regardless of proximity to our home. Please decide for yourself. This review is only our perception and experience.

most of the time I like the service, over the years I spent thousand of dollars and was fine with the cost but when I asked for a prescription I got charged for prescription fee because I didn't want to get it filled there and wanted to get it on line so I can save some money...I've got prescriptions filled there before and never had a prescription charge before, I feel thats discrimanation and a money grab...I think I might look for another Vet hospital that looks at the big picture of customer service

I was really nervous about our kitten's first trip to the vet. I was really worried that she'd be traumatized by the entire thing. I spent a lot of time calling every vet in town that I could find and reading reviews. We chose Dr Dan at Main St Animal Hospital. He was so gentle with her and he put us and her at ease right away. He was so informative and knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions and even more I hadn't thought of. He asked us just as many questions to get an idea of her home life and routine. He was so gentle and careful with her as he examined her and gave her the vaccination. She was perfectly content throughout the entire thing. It meant so much to me that she was so at ease and cared for. I'm the type who has a of questions. He never once rushed me or made me feel silly for asking (where can I find a human doctor like that??). He was so patient and understanding of the fact that we're new "parents". He had so many helpful tips and advice. Everyone we met was so nice and friendly. From reception to techs/assistants. One technician was kind enough to apply the nail caps and show us how for next time. It was only our first visit, but we had a wonderful experience at Main St Animal Hospital and we look forward to continuing as clients.

Have been going here for a few years now. Absolutely cannot recommend Dr.Dan Morris enough ! So patient and kind. Always makes sure you fully understand and takes his time with you. He even called to express his condolences, and explain to me my dogs health problems, after she had passed. It was a great closure for me as she passed so suddenly in the night. OVC advised me to contact my own vet about doing a surgery my dog may have required. So being a customer of Main Street Vet (MSV) for 30+ years, I called to talk to them about this and was advised that 'they were too busy'. WOW - 30 yrs of being a dedicated customer & having spent thousands of $$ there, I was thrown to the curb - Thanks MSV! With the help of another vet, my dog is now walking again with no help from MSV! Will never go back. BTW, my dog did not need the surgery.

Brought my kitten here to get neutered this week and I couldn't have asked for more of a vet! They treated him like he was their own. I expected him to be stressed and nervous after surgery and he was calm and relaxed when they brought him out to me. He didnt even notice getting his rabies shot on his first visit there. I have been a loyal customer of this business for 7 dogs over a 20+ years. Love the staff n Vets - great people. All of my dogs love everyone there. However, spent $750 between my 2 dogs yesterday. Heart worm n meds, some shots, etc. I expected that amount - a yearly thing. What I did not expect was to be charged for a nail clipping for one dog, but free for the other - like it has always been. I have NEVER been charged for this before. $18.50. I called & was told 2 different dogs n 1 of them only had glands expressed, so his bill not high enough to warrant. I paid for both bills all at once. And no one bothered to tell me upfront about this charge. I am not a cheap person & I can well afford $18.50, but it’s the principle! Guess they are now nickle n dimeing it with loyal customers. Not so sure I want to continue going there with my fur babies if they want to cheap out on loyal customers! 2 days ago I would have given 5 stars, but this is a breach of my trust.

We have been taking our babies here for quite some time and we are all always treated so well! The attention that our dog and cats get from the moment we walk in until we leave is outstanding! We had a couple scares with our dog and one of our cats a few years back and I feel so lucky to still have them with us, thanks to the Main St veterinarians and rest of the staff! Kudos and 5 stars for the Main St Animal Hospital This place gets top rates from me ever since I had my Guide Dog Fred. I brought him for grooming twice a year for his 10yrs and he would prance sfterwards because he knew he felt and looked good. A year ago I had a tiny Siamese cat that I took from a third party rescue. I took her to MSAH and she was given excellent care but she had too much against her. I decided to give her rest and peace. Dr Morris was very caring to her and myself and his gentle ways with both Patients and Pet Parents. I adopted Trix last June from The Humane Society and really got a wonderful wee animal to love and give her a forever home. I was in awe of the Human Society and their adoption procedures and the cleanliness and efficiency. They also get a 5 star rating.

I have used this Animal hospital for a number of years. I use to take my dog there for grooming but stopped as they would perform procedures on our dog without our consent and then expect payment for same. Today, we had to put our dog down, he was nearly 14 and suffering from multiple issues. While the procedure itself was peaceful and our little buddy passed in a calm fashion and quickly, not once did this vet say, "Sorry for your loss". Yes, they gave us time with our dog afterwards, but still, I found this hospital one not favourable and would not recommend it, or at least, be sure to not to pay for produces they voluntarily perform on your animals.

My pet developed a nasty bladder infection 3 days after surgery and the vet tried to say it was not related. After doing some research I discovered it is related and common after surgery yet I had to pay for antibiotics, urine test and new food $236 later after paying almost $400 for the surgery 3 days prior.. they took no accountability

Dr. Karen was completely negligible when it came to the care of our dog. We brought her in with concerns of internal bleeding and she sent us home saying there was no bleeding. She refused to do further diagnostics and would not provide us with the most basic, non-toxic medication to stop internal bleeding just in case. When the dog did not get better we brought her back in – as a person with a medical based degree, I had to argue with her that the dog had internal bleeding. Finally, she realized it was internal bleeding. She then told us the dog had cancer (with no diagnostic confirmation) and began harassing our family to put the dog down (even calling our home). We took the dog to a different clinic and were able to get a diagnosis of liver disease that caused an ulcer. Due to the fact that the poor dog was mistreated at Main Street Animal Hospital, she is now battling for her life. The wonderful doctors at Manitou Animal Hospital were able to take her in, diagnose her and provide treatment in one day and now the dog is on the long and slow road to recovery. We are still unsure if she will make it due to the fact that she was internally bleeding for nearly two weeks due to Karen’s negligent diagnosis. Please, if you want your pets in good hands DO NOT see Dr. Karen. Dr. Dan at this clinic is wonderful – try to see him instead if you must go to Main Street Animal Hospital. - A concerned patron
