I brought my dog here a week ago. they were only open for about 45 minutes but said that if I rush there they would take a look at him because they could understand the concern of my voice. Right away they calmed my concerns and explained everything to me, they made sure to talk to me about any tests that were going to be done while they were going to be done and the costs up front and beforehand. I also got to speak with the vet that dealt with my dog (Dr.Cheema) and he was amazing and very thorough. They should get another star for following their covid-19 protocols safely.

The staff at Sage Hill Animal Hospital were very accommodating on the very short notice emergency with my cat. They were very friendly and gentle with my kitty and did an exceptional job explaining the diagnosis and treatment options. I felt a genuine desire to get my kitty healthy again. When we bring a pet into our lives we form an unconditional love and treat them as we would anyone else that we love. We certainly want the absolute best in every aspect of their lives. When it comes to veterinary care we of course seek excellence. If you measure the qualities of excellence you look for integrity, passion, innovation and of course commitment and compassion. We have been dealing with Dr. Cheema and his staff for a little over 6 months now and to put it simply, I have absolutely no reason not to fully trust his integrity. He is very passionate about what he does and is sincere in his care for his patients and is genuinely compassionate in his understanding of what the owners are experiencing and their current situations. Dr. Cheema is hands on and involves the owners to help them understand exactly what the issues are. Dr. Cheema has gone above and beyond over and over to give our Golden Retriever the best care available as well as going the extra mile to help us with the treatment needed to give Daytona the care he deserves. Daytona absolutely loves going to see his buddy Dr. Cheema. We are eternally grateful for the excellence in quality and service provided by the entire staff at Sage Hill Animal Hospital. I booked a same day appointment here as my regular vet was unable to see my Labradoodle, Finnigan, for an eye issue. I cannot express how happy I was with the service. From the initial call with the receptionist/tech to the post consultation discussion with Dr. Cheema, I received an exceptional level of customer care. Not only did Dr. Cheema solve the eye issue but he also let me know of a couple of other issues that he noticed with advice on how to handle them. Finn is generally a nervous ball of energy when going to the vet, when he came out he was happy, relaxed and quite comfortable to be there. It's clear to see that they really care for their furry patients! Not only was the service amazing but the price point is cheaper than my regular vet clinic. Thank you Dr. Cheema, you now have 2 more labradoodles to care for. :)

I got a new dog last September and he was 8 weeks, the first things I did was going to the Vet Clinic. Since I am new of Calgary, I google it and ended up at Sage Hill Animal Hospital. Since that day I am a very happy costumer. I purchased the plan that they suggested me, and I am grateful for that. My puppy got sick couple of times and having the plan helped me lot, I just showed up and they took care of him in few minutes. Every time I bring there my dog, he is happy and not scared at all, that says everything about the place.

We first discovered this vet hospital 2 weeks ago when our mini Doxie was really sick and wouldn’t eat (which is her favourite thing to do). Dr. Cheema ran extensive blood tests and quickly diagnosed her with pancreatitis, which can be life threatening. Our dogs condition was very poor and she was immediately put on an IV and professionally cared for in the 4 days she was treated. Today we went back for a check up and follow up blood work and the results were normal. Dr. Cheema showed me how to properly clean her ears (she sometimes gets ear infections) to manage her health at home. We are relieved our pet is healthy again and grateful to Dr. Cheema and his staff for their compassionate care and saving our dogs life. We have switched vets to this clinic as a result.

I love this Vet. Dr. Cheema is amazing. My cat Ginger had some bladder problems, and I was so worried for him. He was in the litter box all the time, but he couldn't pee. The poor baby. I took him in to see the doctor, and he got him fixed up right away. However ginger kept having problems. He had to come back twice. Apparently the food I was feeding him (which i THOUGHT was good food) was causing his problems! Dr. Cheema suggested a new food and Ginger has been happy and healthy ever since! Dr. Cheema was very friendly, kind, and you could tell that he REALLY cared about my pet. I was so worried about Ginger, but hes all better now :) thank you so much!!

First time I visited here was when my dog injured himself while playing. It was sunday and the hospital that we go to was closed. Dr. Cheema took us in as this was an emergency and also stayed back after hours. He was very thorough with Leo's exam and also explained to us his xray that he took. No words can express how thankful I am for Dr. Cheema. Brought my puppy, Pluto to sage hill hospital for the first time on May 11 for a checkup. Pluto can be so aggressive towards the strangers and unfortunately non of the staff can handle him. (Idont blame them. My pup is huge and not socialize) My boyfriend and I were then asked to come get him because they couldn’t examine him. We got inside and saw Dr. Cheema and his staff waiting for us. He then explained why he couldn’t do any examinations. I was so worried that Pluto would suffer from his itchiness and we wont be able to find out the cause. To make the story short haha, Dr. didnt give up and he asked me and my boyfriend to hold Pluto and he will then try his best to see what is wrong with our pup. Turns out that he has an allergy to chicken! Gave us the right food and some medications too! May 22nd, Pluto got neutered and surprisingly, we didn’t have to come inside this time. They were able to handle him! Prices are very reasonable!

I barely leave reviews, but I think this vet deserves a review from my appreciation. I have been taking my dogs between two different Vets hospital; however, I end up taking my two dogs to visit DR. Cheema instead. I had some concerns about my dog's coughing, so I took my dog to another vet at the beginning, but that vet hospital did not ore even go through the X-ray details with me. So, I called and sent the X-ray pictures to Sage Hill Hospital; Dr. Cheema called me back after their closing hours (after 8pm). It shows me that he cares; I also truly appreciated. I appreciate DR. Cheema's profession, care, and honesty. people should know how great this vet hospital is. Also, since Dr.Cheema is the only veterinarian there, he is busy all the time :)

Dr. Cheema wrongly diagnosed both my cat and my sisters dog & made us pay for medicine and very expensive food that neither animal ever needed. It ended up making both our pets super unhealthy and after being checked out by two different vets, it was discovered that both pets were healthy originally and didn’t need the medicated food or anything we spent thousands of dollars on. It’s not even about the money, it’s about the fact that we were feeding our animals medicine that they never needed and making them very sick. I’m disgusted with how he treats animals. Everything is about the money for him. You will never hear that your pet is healthy. He will always make up something that is wrong so you have to spend money. I’m absolutely never going back.

Today was our 3rd and final visit to this vet. We’ve been misquoted each time we speak to the team and today was no exception. After speaking to the vet over the phone and confirming several times what the final cost would be, we were once again given a different (more expensive) cost during payment. I asked if their team usually honors the price they give their customers over the phone or if they regularly up charge during payment and there was no constructive answer and no sense of urgency that this was an issue. We were already on the fence about booking with with them today and now this has confirmed our decision that we won’t be coming back. Unfortunately, we’ve lost our trust in this team.

I LOVE my dogs so when I walked into Sage Hill Animal Hospital and asked to meet with the doctor on staff in order to determine if he or she would be the right fit for me and my fur babies I was absolutely impressed. I met with Dr Cheema that day and immediately knew that this was the perfect fit for me and my girls. With 3 dogs the vet bills can be endless so I love the pet plan that Dr Cheema offers, I purchased 3 plans that day and immediately scheduled dental visits for each of my girls. The pet plans are amazing and well worth the initial investment, I’ve just renewed for 2019! If you are looking for a veterinarian that cares and takes the time to explain and answer your questions about your pet I would absolutely recommend Dr Cheema and his staff at Sage Hill Animal Hospital, definitely one of the kindest and knowledgeable animal doctors the girls and I could ask for! I'm grateful the technician suggested I purchase a Wellness plan for my 17 yr. old cat. It covered the preliminary tests for his dental work, his dental cleaning, and some of his blood work when he developed Pancreatitis. It certainly made it less expensive and alleviated some stress during his illness. My Cat has fully recovered and back to being a happy cat. I don't even think Dr Cheema and his crew even deserve 5 stars. They Deserve a billion. I honestly can't even comprehend what an amazing human Dr Cheema is. The compassion, honesty and care he has is by far the best I have seen and I have been to a ton of vets with our sick dogs. Our last boy Choco came down suddenly with pneumonia and Dr.Cheema fought so hard to get him through it but unfortunately he didn't pull through. He was there with us the whole time with patience and compassion and love for Choco and for us making the decision we had to. I will never forget what a kind soul he is. They actually treat you LIKE A HUMAN BEING! My dog has had an ear infection, needs her deciduous teeth removed, spayed and a liver biopsy as something is still wrong with her liver. After 2k of diagnostics. I've had to have her to 5 vets now and she is only 8 months old today. Her 3 surgeries are this Saturday at a 24hr hospital in case there are complications with her liver. All that being said I am 99% likely to return here for regular care assuming my baby survives. I have been to several other vets, one nearby....they treat it like a factory and you are just a number. Dogs and pets in and out. Payment processing running in and out. Long waits. I was treated so badly by one vet that quit and went somewhere.....that I called sage hill crying. That is embarrassing to admit but they were so kind with me on the phone and were quick to give Zola her follow up on her ear infection and give a second opinion on her teeth for a very affordable price. After reading all these amazing reviews, I was very excited to bring my puppy here, unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience and I will not be returning. The first time around, when I went to pick up my dog, the reception told me that only I can go inside and not my partner. However, the couple behind me was able to both go inside. The second time around, the reception told me I had to give her my card to pay and I wasn't able to enter, even though the whole time I saw people going inside and paying. Not sure if there's favouritism for people that always go or if the reception just didn't like us. But the fact that not everyone is given the same treatment is unfair. Will NEVER recommend this place to any of my friends with dogs.

FANTASTIC PLACE! Extremely friendly, thorough, and informative. I learned more about our dog's health in one visit than I did in the numerous visits at our old vet in Vancouver. We came here because our little angel had a cyst that had quickly evolved into an abscess during our move from Vancouver to Calgary. Dr. Cheema diagnosed the problem and explained how he could remove it through surgery. After we consented, he performed a blood test to make sure our dog could handle sedation, and anesthesia (if need be). When the blood test came back, he showed us the results and explained what the values meant in great detail. It gave us peace of mind, as we knew that our little guy was in tip-top shape. Dr. Cheema performed the minor surgery, which took about 2 hours, to remove the abscess and to stitch our little guy up. After the surgery, they provided us with pain medication and explained how to properly clean and disinfect the incision. Two weeks later we came back and to have the stitches removed. The total cost was about $820 (we had our own dog cone which saved us a little money). At first glance that may seem expensive, but it was a very reasonable price for a comprehensive blood test, two vet visits, medication, sedation, surgery, stitches, and peace of mind.

Between working with a dog rescue and having 3 dogs of my own, I have been here quite a bit in the last year. Dr. Cheema always explains the problem in a less medical way so it is easier to understand what is going on. My own dogs love him and he makes the entire visit less stressful than any other vet we have gone to. The clinic is also exceptionally clean every time.

Wonderful place. We took our notoriously difficult cat (Fiona) to Sage Hill Animal Hospital in mid-February when she was dealing with a multitude of issues. We have been taking our puppy regularly to Sage Hill Animal Hospital for her vaccinations. The staff is very kind and friendly. After every visit, Dr. Cheema gives us a consultation on our puppy's growth graph and overall health. We are happy with the care and would continue to take our dog here.

Dr Cheema provides all services on site with a couple of exceptions that are done outside the hospital with results returned in a few days. Hours are great. My cat became very ill within 2 days of being bit by another cat. He was there to find the issue, address it and he sent me off with everything I needed to see my cat back to health. Dr. Cheema and Tech Angela were so great at fitting in my cat for an emergency xray after he injured his paw. They spent over an hour with me going over everything and all my options very thoroughly. We live close by and when our dog Mira injured her leg, we decided to take her to the animal hospital in Sage Hill instead of our regular vet. I first called the hospital to see if we could stop by right away and they told me the doctor was about to leave but he would stay until we got there. We got there and was greeted by Angela and got us into a room right away. Dr. Cheema examined Mira and was very thorough and had a conservative treatment approach to Mira's injury. Our dog is very accident prone and have seen Dr.Cheema multiple times after that. The service is amazing; they call the next day to follow up with how Mira is doing and Dr. Cheema takes the time to explain his approach on treatment and I never feel rushed. After my dog came home from a weekend at the pet sitter and swimming in their pond, my dog started to have skin issues/diarrhea on and off for a year. I was suspecting it had something to do with the pond, but every other vet told me my dog couldn't possibly have worms because he is on a monthly de-wormer, so he was diagnosed with allergies/skin issues instead. I then went on a year of expensive treatments for allergies with absolutely no results. Finally, the diarrhea got super bad, so I came to this vet hospital. This is the vet hospital that actually diagnosed my dog properly and eventually saved him! They offered the worm testing that all other vets refused to do, and it turned out my dog got Giardia. Once that was treated, all of my dog’s chronic skin issues completely went away and there was no more diarrhea. I would like to say thank you for saving my boy! It has been a few months now and I haven’t seen any issues ever since. Very thorough and good clinical judgements, I highly recommend these guys.

Dr. Cheema and his staff are the best we've ever dealt with in Calgary. They are all so kind and gentle. We started to see Dr. Cheema last year (2018) when our dog got sick. We weren't happy with our current clinic and found Dr. Cheema by chance. We never looked back. This past weekend (Sept. 2019) we had to make the tough decision to put our sweet puppy down. She was 10 yrs old and got sick very suddenly (July 2019) along with going blind in her last few weeks of life. We went to see Dr. Cheema all summer for advice. By early September it became very clear that she was suffering. He was so kind and compassionate and walked us through this difficult process. Our entire family was in the room in her final moments and he couldn't have been more gentle or understanding, along with his assistant. Super happy with my experience here! My puppy had an ear infection but our usual vet is closed Sundays, so I was pretty anxious. I remember passing by the Sage Hill vet a couple times and I’ve heard good things about them, so I gave them a call. I was booked in within an hour of calling in. Zoey has an ear infection and Dr. Cheema helped her today...the same day I called with my concern. He always gives me good advice and explains possible causes, treatment and post-treatment care clearly. ORIGINAL REVIEW: When I called my regular vet 30 minutes before closing time and shared symptoms of my dog's bladder infection (blood in urine, lethargic, etc.), their response was to schedule her in for a week later. I understand that they could not see her so close to closing time, although I was still hoping....but to suggest waiting for a week? Anyway, called around and found this wonderful clinic. They were very busy that day, I was not one of their regular clients but they still booked time for Zoey. They took their time diagnosing, explaining issues to me and providing appropriate meds. I was and is so grateful for their service while my dog is healing. Thank you so much Sage Hill Animal Hospital, your sacrifice while working later than usual, is valued and appreciated.

We found Sage Hill Animal Hospital on a Sunday when Annie, our German Shepherd, was having some medical issues and were very happy to find them open 7 days a week. Dr Cheema and Rose took amazing care of her and quickly diagnosed her with Giardia after some tests. Our pup can be a little timid but despite the discomfort of needles, blood tests, and some IV fluids, Annie was in good spirits and obviously comfortable with the staff. Dr. Cheema and staff were fantastic to deal with. They were able to see us the same day and had an in house lab so there was no long wait time for blood test results! They were so great at making my dog feel safe and comfortable and the check up was thorough. They took the time to answer any questions I had and they provided me with useful advice. If you're looking for a compassionate vet who cares about their patients - this is the vet to go to! Our little guy just had dental cleaning that required complex extractions. In my lifetime I've vet shopped quite a bit - always in search of someone who truly cared about their patients and not just only their wallet. I will say that Dr. Cheema is the only vet who has ran me through the lab values, debriefed us on the surgery after, and also saved the teeth extractions for us to look at (without being asked). We've been through several other dental surgeries at other places. Most vets don't even see you during discharge - most of the time you are simply given the bill and your pet handed to you by vet technicians. I am glad that he is the owner of the clinic and his passion shines through in the care that he provides. His staff are excellent and friendly.

We commend and highly recommend Dr. Cheema and staff at Sage Hill Animal Hospital. We have been at Sage Hill for the last two years and always been pleased with the service. On a recent busy Saturday, we called with a possible problem. Our dog was squeezed in late afternoon and discovered she needed surgery. Without hesitation for the lateness of the day and other patient commitments, the surgery was done and our dog ready to come home after 8 p.m.

This clinic is the few places where they show care for your pet. However, the prices have increased recently since they open. They are very similar to VCA. Example: medicine for your dog is 4 times higher than the average price. If they send testing for analysis, you never get to check them or to have an explanation. Basically you go thinking “ ok it won’t be more than $120 ish. ALWAYS Comes to $250, 400 or more. Not sure if we will come back.

I found all of his staff (especially Alex) to be very pleasant and well trained. . They are great here, they were able to fit me in last minute! Prices are fair! Staff and veterinary are friendly and informative! I had to go for a 2nd visit, which I would like to update my review. I had given 5 stars according to my experience. But my 2nd visit had me coming back to edit my review to 4 stars. The evening staff is so opposite from the day staff (seems to be 1 lady) but wow is she ever rude. Called me claiming I was late for my appt, and when I said I'm like 1 min away she huffed into the phone. I sat in my car afterwards replaying my phone convo in my mind from that morning when I booked appt and realized I was not late, infact 15 mins early. Anyhow when I picked up my dog, I realized I forgot to ask Dr Cheema if I should continue using the drops for my dog. So I asked her and she's like what instructions did you receive on the box. I said 10 days? She replied with has it been 10 days? I said not quite. Then keep using it. Just the tone, she speaks to customers is so uncalled for. Definitely doesn't seem like she likes working evening shifts or wants to be there. I'll be keeping my appts during the day of possible.

I highly recommend Sage Hill Animal Hospital to any and all the furry kid’s parents to get service from awesome Dr. Cheema and his great team! Our family feel so luck to have them! My dog had many different health problem at her puppy stage, and Dr. Cheema gave her the best treatment every time with our visit and the puppy came-back to be health and happy dog again! Dr. Cheema is so knowledgeable with his checking up / diagnoses / treatments.... even more recommendations on dogs daily lifestyle to keep their healthy! Dr. Cheema is not only so great as a Vet, but also so thoughtful for the furry Kidd’s parents, once he is firmed with what’s the problem of the dog, he would recommend us not taking the unnecessary exams which we were asking for, try to save money for us. Dr. Cheema is too kind and with soft heart and outstanding sharp observation abilities! One of our visit, while we were about leaving, he noticed some other issues on our dog besides we were asking... he gave the actions, he gave the check up right away and right treatment to follow! Dr. Cheema and his crew are super professional and responsible and caring.... my dog had serious issue with our last visit, Dr. Cheema did blood work and X-ray found the problem cause, gave lots helpful medicine. Sage hill hospital called me next morning following up how’s everything with my dog. There are not enough words to say how great every staff at Sage Hill Animal Hospital. Dr. Cheema is the best veterinarian I’ve ever dealt with. When we brought our dog in for emergency surgery on a Sunday, he was very professional and straight forward. He is incredibly compassionate, he even stayed late to make sure our boy was ready to come home. He literally saved our dogs life and we will never forget the first class service! The icing on the cake is that this is the fairest priced veterinary clinic you will ever take your pets. I would strongly recommend anyone reading this to take your pets here.

My dog had been ill for days, all other emergency vet clinics told me it would take hours to get them in because of how busy they were. When I called Dr. Cheema he got Wookie an appointment within an hour based on the severity of his symptoms, and before this I had never been to this location. He gave Wookie life saving surgery the next day, and talked to me on the phone almost everyday for 10 days after either calling to check up on Wookie or answering any question I had about his medications or recovery. I have never had such amazing service from a vet, the fact that he went out of his way on multiple days to check in on Wookies progress shows just how caring he and his staff are. On top of this his bills/fees are incredibly reasonable and he doesn't go out of his way to overcharge you like I have found some other clinics to do in the past. Dr. Cheema has to be one of the best vets in Calgary. Thank you so much for all you did for us!

They deserve far more then 5 stars, they are amazing and ive been having a few problems with my cat and i called like every half hour to find if something was normal and they are always happy to hear from me. The receptionist is amazing collen deserves the most praise i would recomend this clinic 10 out of 10 times. I am so glad i switched vet clinics. This one just cant be beat in my opinion

My dog is a little aggressive with new people touching him so the vet is not a fun place. The last vet wouldn't even go in a room alone with him. These guys were great about it, told me he flipped but they continued to do the exam. Just hope they allow people in the room with their animals soon. It was very stressful not knowing what's going on with your anxious dog while he's in a room with strangers. Over all very good vet and will continue to take my boy here

Amazing clinic, doctor and staff! I came home to find my dog, Bella in excrutiating pain. I was shocked to find that she had an open sore on her behind. I panicked not knowing what happened. I called Sage Hill Animal Hospital and Karen booked me in right away to see Dr. Cheema. It was our first time at the clinic and we were so warmly welcomed. Dr. Cheema was very knowledgable and walked me through the treatment process. Bella had a ruptured anal gland. Dr. Cheema performed the surgery right away and reassured me that everything will be okay. Bella healed beautifully. We are so grateful for Dr. Cheema and his team at Sage Hill Animal Hospital, and highly recommend this clinic!

Dr.Cheema is the very best veterinary doctor I’ve ever had! He is so passionate about his work, he works day and night! He always makes himself available for a visit. ANYTIME! I don’t know how he does it working basically seven days a week this last entire year! This shows you his loyalty to his practice. He truly loves and cares for all the animals he sees and he goes over and beyond the call of duty! His patience with us humans ;) and the time that he takes at every visit to answer alllll of our questions and concerns is like nothing I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing. (Usually one feels rushed and pressured to leave the office quickly at other Vet clinics I’ve used in the past). He also never forgets anything about our last conversation and always asks how I am doing personally, that’s so nice! His caring nature is full circle from owner to pet. He is one of a kind! Finally, we found a savior for our dog! Coco had been suffering from a skin issue that no doctor could cure for the past 8 years. However, Dr. Cheema was able to quickly identify the issue and treat him accordingly. It was simply miraculous to see that Coco stopped scratching and his skin got better the very next day! We have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Cheema. He was highly professional, well experienced and very friendly. We greatly appreciate that he took the time to give us a proper understanding of Coco's skin condition and treatment plan. The kind and welcoming staff also made our experience all the better.
