Luna passed away peacefully in my home on May 30th, 2016. Carly was extremely helpful and coached and corresponded with me leading up to the "day". Dr Dhaliwal came to our home and was always very gentle with Luna. He was honest and compassionate through every visit. We did all that we could to keep her comfortable after her kidney diagnosis a year ago. She lived a great life and was such a loving kitty. Sadly a day after her 16th birthday we had to say goodbye. The team at Central City were all very supportive, empathetic & professional.

The most affordable vet we found. Took our cat in for a procedure. When he came home the problem was still present had to go back, no extra charge for another round of the same procedure only a day rate of about $35. Price was close to what was quoted. Staff are friendly with the animals. Will be returning when needed.

Sad to say that I had to change my review after my most recent experience with this clinic. Took my dog in to get a rabies booster and an exam as he was crying in pain off and on throughout the past few days. When I first came in the receptionist seemed flustered and confused, and repeatedly asked what my dog’s name was and why he was being brought in today. When he was taken into the back to be examined, he was brought back into the room where I was waiting not even five minutes later with the vet expressing concern about his abdomen. She said his abdomen area was hard and painful when she touched it, and said he needed several tests. She also said he never had a blood test before, even though he had one not even 6 months ago when he had a dental earlier this year. She sounded extremely concerned and said he needed X rays, a blood and urine test as well as a test for pancreatitis. She didn’t discuss his symptoms with me at all and brushed off the suggestion of back pain that I thought he had. From the way it was discussed I was under the impression that he was either gravely ill or had a tumor. It was about a thirty minute wait for the X rays, so I stepped outside to wait. When I came back, the receptionist asked me if I had an appointment as if she didn’t know who I was despite just being in there. The vet came out and said that she would send the X rays out for an additional opinion (and an additional charge) and that the results would be available the next day and to call then. She prescribed tramadol for his pain and we went home after that. I received a call from Dr. Sandhu asking why my dog had his blood taken and that he was perfectly fine in those regards, which blew me away since I was under the impression that he really needed it done. He then said the X ray results would be in soon. The next day (today) I received a call from the vet that initially saw my dog only to be told he was completely fine. X rays were clear, bloodwork was fine, but no mention of the pancreatitis test. She said it might be joint pain and to call back after he finished his prescription of tramadol. In total, I spent $600 to be told that he might have joint pain after being put under the impression that he was seriously ill. I am absolutely blown away that I spent that much money only to be told he MIGHT have joint pain. Why wasn’t he examined more thoroughly? Why look at his abdomen area once and decide he needs $600 worth of tests after not even 5 minutes of examination? My dog is still crying in pain and now I will be taking him, and all my other pets to a veterinarian that actually care to listen and spends more than a few minutes on an exam. It pains me to write this because I have had such good experiences with Dr. Sandhu and Dr. Daliwhal in the past. I highly encourage those looking to come here, or who are currently coming here, to consider taking their pets elsewhere.

I had a sick cat and they were able to give me an appointment for the same day. My regular vet couldn't get me in for 3 days. The Doctor was really friendly and took really good care of my cat. X-rays were required and the vet took me to the back room to show them to me. The entire feel of the office was with happy employees who cared about the animals that came in. I was very happy with the service I received.

Amazing service. Came here for all my puppy needs.. Dr. Mulvaney is incredible. He integrates his personal experience with his professional advice and gives his best. We had to put our beautiful puppy down who was suffering from congestive heart failure, Mulvaney and his team made it very easy to find the proper food and path for our puppy. Highly recommend this animal hospital and also adopting an animal. They CHANGE your life as much as you change theirs.

HOW does this business have such good reviews?! Have been here twice. Once was for our cats first vaccinations. One of our cats developed an injection-site lump from the Feline Leukemia vaccine he recieved here. It could have developed into a sarcoma which is fatal-could have killed him at 4 months old. We have since had the same cat given the same vaccine multiple times by vet clinics who use a different pharmaceutical company, because apparently the brand Central City uses is notorious for causing cysts/lumps and side effects. Don't know how they haven't switched over yet. Then today I took two 7 week old kittens in because they and their other siblings all have what looks to be an infectious rash or fungus spreading rapidly between them and rapidly on their faces. It's been about a week and I wanted to make sure I can get some topical ointment, either antibiotics or an antifungal cream. First of all the vet said he couldn't even see what I was talking about, asked a bunch of questions that had absolutely no relevance, and said they probably have either herpes or calici virus. They don't have symptoms of either of these illnesses - both of which are lifelong and very serious diagnoses. He then suggested putting all the kittens on oral antibiotics,which makes absolutely no sense given the symptoms as well as the fact that both of those are VIRAL infections. I will never be coming here again. I wouldn't leave the life of a single animal in their hands.

I have nothing but respect for dr daliwal at this clinic. The care that he has shown is immense. Its hard to miss. And his professionalism never waivers in its quality. I have personally witnessed dr daliwal take a moment to step aside and take a personal moment to shed a tear alone while in the course of delivering treatment to somebodies pet. Its hard not to be moved when you just happen to chance upon a moment such as that. The gentleman genuinely cared about the outcome for that animal at that moment, and it showed. It is that very same doctor whom I recently watched confidentially scoop up my cat, an animal notorious for asserting his belief of what should and should not be violated within his personal space, and cradle him to his chest with my cat very obviously calmly moving in close to the security it offered, looking at me as they walked out to the treatment area with the expected amount of fear in his eyes but also an overwhelming amount of trust in the situation. It’s a moment In time that I could never forget anytime soon. But, in the other hand, the other vet who works here, I don’t know his name, seems to be quite the opposite. Every time I take my catheter and he sees this doctor my cat comes out in worse condition than I brought him in. And the bill seems to cost more for doing less than with dr daliwal.

Our dog dislocated her hip one morning, she was turned down to get urgent help in about 10 clinics around LMD. We had to find a surgeon to perform a surgery ASAP and Central City Animal Hospital was extremely well responsive. We were able to send in our xrays and med reports by email and within minutes were called back to be scheduled for a surgery. Dr. DHALIWAL met us at the hospital and made sure he answered all our questions and took his time to explain the process before and after the surgery. The prices were also quite reasonable! Overall a great experience with all the staff at the clinic.We are very thankful!

I used to come here but after a recent visit I cannot recommend this veterinarian practice. I have a large dog and brought him in on suspicion of a possible ear infection. He was seen by Dr. Pr. He didn't find any sign of infection but due to the depth of dogs ears he recommended some medication as a preventative measure. I agreed. He "massaged" my dogs ears so hard he yelped three times and hid behind me, shaking and panting. My dog is not small, he is also in good health, and to push that hard to get that kind of response is way to hard. My dog now seems to have some issues hearing and I am worried of damage. I will be going to see another vet to determine if that is the case.

This place seems great due to the wellnes check fee and most reviews but they will always try and get you to pay for unnecessary tests and then hard pressure you to buy food or products. The doctor is dismissive and uses scare tactics to try and get you to pay. I left shaking and tears thinking my cat and best friend of 13 yrs was going to pass away within the day. That was almost 2 yrs ago. They didn't even do a thorough examination just told me I would need a full blood panel, special blood panels, xray, ultra sound and my cat would have to stay in office for "several days". They almost didn't let me leave without her. The cost was between $3000-6500. They took her back and gave her some medical treatments without asking me and I still had to pay, while crying and shaking. Avoid this place

My cat developed Pyoderma bacterial skin infection after a standard spay surgery there, which required an emergency visit and strong antibiotics injection at an additional cost The vet appeared surprised that cat can develop Pyoderma infection, saying that he has only seen this infection in dogs before. 5 minute Google search shows that it affects both dogs and cats. What was described as a simple standard procedure by the staff turned into a nightmare for our family. The promised affordable cost of $50+ turned into $280 so far and we are not out of the woods yet! We will switch to another vet clinic.

This vet gave our cat medication to combat an infection but was considered by a vet eye specialist to have been four times the safe dosage limit. Our cat is now blind as a result. Have made a complaint with the college of vet medicine and am planning to sue this vet. STAY AWAY FROM THIS VET!!

I already made a complaint to them but I wanted to come on here just to warn other clients. Please note my cat is very very people friendly. She's flown on several flights between provinces because she is my sister's cat and they were out of BC at university but are now living together with us as a family. She is docile and calm. I mention this as no one called to ask if I'm ok with being her nails cut, which I would have said no thankd as she had her nails cut recently prior to coming. And as I mention, she is not aggressive so I am not sure why they clipped her nails. My cat came here for a dental because I didnt see anything alarming on the reviews and I've come before for vaccinations with no problems. The treatment costs at Central City were more affordable for me during these more difficult times. I saw they had given a complimentary nail trim on the printed invoice so I checked her nails and I actually gasped out loud. The nails were cut so short, almost right on the quick for several nails and one nail someone actually cut INTO her quick. Dried blood and you can clearly see it is way too short. I hope they find who cut her nails and have a proper conversation with them. Because this is concerning and disturbing. Again I've spoken to them but I just feel so upset. I've let them know this too but I will not be returning here unfortunately. I love her like family and I am actually so distraught that this happened. I feel guilty for bringing her here. Please see for yourselves how deep her nail was cut.

Our SharPei was suffering with liver disease from a very early age. We took him to an overpriced vet in North Vancouver, only to keep getting the "Let's wait and see" treatment. We finally took our dog to Dr. Dhaliwal on a friend's recommendation and we are very happy with our decision. Dr. Dhaliwal immediately and properly diagnosed the liver disease and put him on lifetime medication that has kept his liver in check. Dr. Dhaliwal has always taken good care of our dog and his fees are extremely reasonable. When our dog had melanoma, Dr. Dhaliwal found and removed it. When our dog was attacked by a much bigger dog, Dr. Dhaliwal stitched up all many wounds on his body and head. He does a great job of cleaning teeth, too. The office staff is also friendly and helpful. We love our vet and recommend Central City Animal Hospital to everyone.

I discovered this hospital and Dr Dahliual through the rescue organization I adopted my dog from two years ago and since then he’s been our vet. Though they are out of my way and I drive +40 minutes to get my dog treated, its worth it. Dr Dahliual has so much integrity and cares so much about his patients. Price wise they are very reasonable. He is diligent, honest and does not try to push unnecessary treatments on your pet. He simplify care and treats you with honesty and integrity. This is refreshing and a unique trait in today’s world where most vets take advantage of people ( unfortunately I have been taken advantage of for 17 years with my late dog with a veterinary practice that I shall not name) - we are grateful we found dr Dahliual and feel compelled to let as many people know. If I could give this vet and business more than 5 stars I would!

This is an incredible Animal Hospital. Finally a place where staff are friendly and polite, the Vet was so loving and kind towards our dog. It was quick and affordable. It's so nice going to a place that feels welcoming and like your not a bother to them like other places. Dr. Dhaliwal is the best vet around. He came back to perform emergency surgery when my big dog tore his belly open in the woods requiring 3 layers of stitches and staples. My dog Ginger stepped on some broken porcelain in the forest on a walk. Recommended by folks at the Hume Dog Park, Central City Animal Hospital is close by, so when the accident happened, I called. They got Ginger in right away and later that same day she was home and recovering. Then it happened again, less than a month later. They fixed Ginger up again and she's recovering now. They were kind, observed all the covid protocols and reasonably priced. (Surgery is still super expensive tho.) I found an old toilet, half buried just off the path. It has now been removed.

Sorry, I truly can not recommend this place and the rating of one star is generous. I took my rescue pup in as her recently operated cherry eye blossomed out again. After waiting almost 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment time a vet came in confirmed that it was cherry eye and stated that the vet who had performed the operation would have to look after her. Both vets work in the same office . So my appointment lasted less than 10 minutes and I had to make another appointment for the other vet to look at her. Today I arrived for my second appointment and was informed that this vet was not going to be in today and I would have to reschedule again. To be fair, the receptionist did leave a message on my cell phone about 30 minutes prior to my appointment time but my cell phone blocked the call while I was driving. After arriving and being informed of the situation , I inquired as to why she did not contact me earlier as she knew first thing in the morning that the vet would not be in, she thought that 30 minutes prior to the appointment time was sufficient. This would not be so bad, but I drove for almost 90 minutes to get there for both trips, so I was really frustrated. The only redeeming thing about this appointment was that the Pie Hole was next door and if you really want a good pie, this is a good place to visit. Their Christmas pie added a bit of cheer to my grumpy mood.

The staff that works here are all very nice and patient, were patient and gentle with my pet and answered all the questions that I had. I have had pets come in for emergency surgery in the past and they try to help make sure the prices don't get crazy and you know what you get yourself into. I will always trust these guys.

This place was recommended to us by the rescue agency from which we adopted our dog. I'm so glad we took their advice, even though it is a bit of a drive (20 mins) from our home compared to other clinics on the North Shore. The staff are incredibly friendly, organized, and accommodating. They were able to fit us in on very short notice, and once we were in the treatment room with our dog, the Doctor was so thorough, and went above and beyond in examination, treatments, and fielding many questions from us. They're rates are VERY competitive, and we left with lots of bonus info from our session.

We had been seeing the clinic for a while where we brought our kitten for his regular vaccines. A few months later the unthinkable happened and our kitten fell from our balcony. He survived with nothing broken but had a punctured lung that needed care. It was an extremely difficult time, made even worse by horrible experience at another vet hospital that threatened to take our kitten away if we didn't pay their exorbitant fees. We were eventually able to bring him in to our regular vets at Central City. The doctors here were amazing! We really felt like they cared for us and our kitten. The doctors were very reasonable with their recommended treatment and costs, and even offered to do a free x ray because they knew how high our bills had been already. They even called to see how he was doing! Our kitten made a full recovery and we are so thankful for the care and service we were provided with! Thank you Central City! You alleviated our suffering and made our furry baby all better!

We've taken all three of our dogs to this vet since we got our second dog in 2014. The prices are very reasonable, what would have been a $450 spay + blood panel was $200 (including tattooing and flea treatment). Our old dog used to have a recurring skin problem, which only took one treatment to heal once it was prescribed here. When my older dog was passing away, I was all the way downtown and my sisters were home alone with him, no car or any means of getting him to a vet, and the staff there instructed them over the phone on how to keep him calm and take care of him until I was able to get back to Burnaby. By the time I got home, they had closed, but they gave me a list of emergency hospitals, and texted me a copy of his medical history for the new vet. Excellent service.

I took my bunny there for the 1st appt prior to her spay, very friendly, loved the place, best price. One thing that threw me off was, they asked me to bring my bunny next week, in fast prior to the spay, bunnies are not like dogs and cats, they can’t fast or they can die. As a “ exotics “ vet he should know that better, I will procede with the spay, I just hope they inform their staff a little better. Bunnies cannot vomit, so no risk of vomiting with the anesthesia. I will update my review after the surgery

I had a great experience at this animal clinic. The vet Dr. Parmod has been super patient and helpful with my puppy. He took great care of Charlie with the second vaccine shot, he rubbed the shot area to make sure Charlie feels less sore, and helped me clipped Charlie's nail. Been coming to this vet for 6 years, and was happy they never tried to upsell us, with our 2 rescue dogs, until today. They stressed they needed blood and urine along with their reg. shots. Did not say it would cost $500! Both dogs are very healthy - vet said we should use it as a baseline. So unhappy with my $853 bill. Then they insisted both dogs teeth are in desperate need of cleaning - at over $400 per dog. My dogs are 6yrs and have great teeth for their age. Will never return - feel so ripped off.

Good clinic. Reasonbly priced and quick service. I took my dog in with a "hot spot" and the doctor was able to see us diagnose, and recommend medication pretty quick. This was a nice because it seems like we got more cream etc that we need for this time but should it come back we will have leftovers.

I can not say enough good things about central city animal hospital. My family has had 7 dogs under their care during my lifetime. Not only is this one of the best priced clinics I have ever come across, but this clinic and their veterinarians seriously care about the well being of your animal as well as their human clients. The doctors really take the time to get to know their clients and provide the best possible care that they can. I have been to other clinics when living out east and noticed that some clinics recommend unnecessary things for money grabs. Not this place. They seriously just want the best for your animals and help in any way that they can. My family has recommended so many people to this clinic. I’ve been a pet owner for over 13 years and have been to countless vets throughout Greater Vancouver. I’ve always had trouble trusting the doctors because I felt like they weren’t looking out for the best interests of my pets, but rather just wanted to make the most money off of me. This place was recommended to me by a friend, so I started coming here instead. They charge the most reasonable prices I’ve ever seen at any vet, the assistants are all super nice and friendly, the doctors never try to push for extra tests/medications, and they answer all my questions with detail and patience. The clinic has multiple doctors, and while there are certain doctors who are definitely better than the others, that isn’t an issue because you can always request for the doctor that you trust the most.

Took my 6 year old pup for a dental cleaning here. He’s never gotten cleaning done in his life and I was very VERY worried but everything went smooth, and the doctor was patient with me and was willing to answer any questions I had. They seem like a good reputable place because there were other dogs that were there for dental cleaning as well.. I will definitely come back in the future !

I am hesitant to write the great review and five star rating that they honestly deserve because I selfishly do not want them to get busier. First off, this clinic has the most reasonable prices I have found but it does not compromise the care. They don't try to upsell and recommend unnecessary treatments and tests which I really appreciate. They have accurately diagnosed and treated my dog's various infections and injuries since I have been going there over the last year. Busy front desk and phone but they have always been polite.

All my dogs and once a friend's cat have gone to Dr. Dhaliwal and more recently Dr. Sandhu. Very knowledgeable vets. When at 17 years of age my last dog developed metastatic cancer, Dr. Dhaliwal came home so that I could hold my pup in my hand as he crossed the rainbow bridge. The staff on the front desk are also very welcoming. Wait times can sometimes be longer, but that goes with the nature of the clinic. One complicated case can delay all other appointments, but if my dog was the complicated case, I would definitely want the vets to take their time instead of looking at their watch! They will take the time to help your pet. My current dogs get their annual vaccinations, dental work and any other ailment treated here. Dr. Dhaliwal also very successfully performed femoral head mastectomy on my last pup. And everything is just so reasonably priced. Really like the vets and the staff at Central City Animal Hospital :)

This clinic has gone downhill in terms of service and competence. It's not the fault of the staff at the front counter, but the owner/management. I've been a customer here for over 8 years and my dog requires specialized pancreatic medicine to digest her food (otherwise, big problems). I've had to re-explain my dog's requirement for special food and medicine at least 5 times just in the past year as this clinic seems to turnover staff constantly. The owner/manager does not seem to train new staff on medicines that it has historically kept in stock, and the new staff had no clue as to what the medicine did. Feel free to bring your pet here if you want to keep re-explaining your pet's health conditions to new staff every few months. I will be searching out better (or at the very least, decent) service from another clinic.

Admittedly this review is a year old, I was telling someone about our experience and re-felt the anger so I thought I'd put it out there. Just after we adopted our dog we noticed he wasn't using one of his legs, and it seemed very sore. Upon investigation by the vets here, it was deemed to be a ligament issue. His leg got worse and worse, so they did xrays, and found a grey area, so they did a biopsy. First bad experience - the xray. I dropped my dog off at 730am, and was told I could get him at about 3. When I went to pick him up, they had said the xrays "hadn't worked" and needed to do another set. I ended up waiting until almost 5pm, at which point we got to go home. On the way home, my dog pooped in my car. He has been at the vet from 730 am to 5pm and they hadn't taken him out for a bathroom break!! Second bad, life-threatening, experience - the biopsy. They had told me the biopsy had come back clear and that they were stumped and didn't know what to do, and had suggested a TPLO operation. I was skeptical, so we went to another vet, who immediately said "cancer" and suggested amputation. She recommended a lovely vet who would do the operation. This new vet requested the original labwork from the biopsy, which wasn't sent by Central City until it was requested three times. When it was finally sent in we were told that the biopsy had actually come back inconclusive and the lab recommended a second biopsy be done!! Had we listened to this vet, we would have paid thousands for an unsuccessful TPLO surgery only to have our dog die of cancer. The vet who did the amputation (All Critters Animal Hospital in Fleetwood) is amazing and did a fantastic job, and obviously really care about him. Central City vets, in comparison, had me hold my own dog down while they played with his knee (in effect, squeezing a bone cancer that had eaten away at his bone and caused excruciating pain). The nurses were friendly enough, but I would definitely caution anyone using Central City for anything other than buying food and getting your pet weighed...

Absolutely love the care and passion that each vet here has for you and your fur family member. I've never been so happy or more comfortable in trusting someone else with my cats. They are here to help make sure your pet goes home healthy and happy, without the thought of ever over charging you. I brought 2 of my cats in as one developed an internal infection after delivering her kittens and another had an abscess form her back paw which worsened over night. They were back to normal in a matter of days once given what I needed to help fight the infections. They didn't even charge me for check ups afterwards as they wanted to ensure my girls were all healed, knowing I was short on funds. This is the only place I'd bring my animals for any of their needs. Thank you to every staff member that ensures the smiles stay on every face.

We were a bit skeptical about bringing our dog here due to some of the bad reviews. We finally decided to bring our senior dog here who had a severe periodontal disease. Dr. Harneet Saini was very kind, professional and knowledgeable. The staff were very friendly and attentive. They called me before proceeding with the dental extractions. The treatment for my dog was excellent and successful. The price of the procedure was reasonable. Today my dog looks very happy, her teeth are very clean and her breath is very fresh. Thank you very much for your help and we will come back again!!!

This clinic came recommend to us by a dog rescue organization.. We brought our dog in for a knee problem and were not sold an operation. The Vet candidly told us that we'd waited too long for an easy op remedy, and that he did not recommend we pursue the more invasive option, in our case. Our little pitbull has managed fine with the leg since, and we are glad we did not spend 1800 on an invasive op. The vet is very caring and knowledgable, plus he does not overcharge at all. He is the real deal.

During COVID-19 we were referred by Forever in Peace, who were limiting contact with the public, to instead take our pet to Central City for cremation. We left our beloved pet with Central City on May 16 and after still had not having heard anything back by May 25, we made a call to Central City. Their response was very nonchalant with no apology, just "yes, he is ready for pick-up". When asked how long he had been there and why no one called us, there was no answer. When asked, no one called us back with any answers. We spoke with Forever in Peace who confirmed having picked up our pet on May 19 and having returned him to Central City on May 21. So, 5 days went by with no one bothering to call us. All that was needed in this situation was some accountability by the Vets in charge and an apology, as well as, some assurances that measures would be taken in the future, in terms of oversight, to ensure this would not happen again. Mistakes happen but it was their lack of a considerate response that warranted this poor rating.

Slow service. And not that girl wasnt great but she was all by herself doing all the jobs. Understaffed. Also, I got my dog from a rescue, and he wasnt cheap. I was told that all his shots and neutering would be covered. (Well first 3 sets of shots ) when I took him in for his second set, went seen vet, got the shots. When i came out i was told oh by the way the rescue shelter only covers the "basics" and I owed for the rest. Now I would have gotten them regardless but would have liked to have been informed before I went in as to what to expect
