Profit driven and unethical practice. Overdiagnosed and overtreated my dogs on multiple occasions just for monetary gain. Performed negligent, sub-par treatment on my dog that resulted in her needing more treatment and undergoing more anesthesia, which can have serious consequences in an older dog. Charged me $60 for refusing to buy medications that I already had at home and kept my dog hostage until I settled the fees. In the end Dr Kuan who works there threatened to report me to spca when I went to a different vet and refused to accept treatment she recommended. I don't have enough bad things to say about them.

Have been trying to get prescribed medications for three days, coming for the third time to the clinic to finally get the prescription the receptionist was pretty rude and did not do anything in order for me to get the meds. Wish you improve your manners and sense of responsibility????

we are very happy with this veterinary practice. the vets have always taken time to truly figure out the issue with our dogs and offer not just a prescription but also advice leading to a better understanding on our part. we switched here long ago when our previous vet office referred us for a dental cleaning. after the thorough and informative pick up appt with Dr Mac (now retired), well, we never returned to the old vet. Dr Richter and colleagues have maintained this standard. not low prices, but fair enough, and worth it for the quality care, for us.

Really happy with my trips here so far. Staff are incredibly friendly and clearly love the animals that are brought in. A little pricey but still much cheaper than vets I've been to in the past, so I'm happy. The care they gave my little guy is worth the money! Also, the rooms are all super clean, and the waiting room is super cute, with a little play station for kids and a place to park your cat carrier. I love it!

We just moved to Burnaby and finding a new vet is always stressful when moving to a new city or neighbourhood. However, we were really happy with our first visit at this veterinary clinic: the staff was welcoming and re-assuring, the vet was awesome, very kind, knowledgeable and didn’t try to upsell like a lot of vet clinics do. They do carry a few brands for pet food, and generic/standard care products for pets as well. We would highly recommend this vet clinic to anyone looking for professional advice and care for their little family companion, and we are glad we have now found our go to Vet close to our new home!

My cat died alone here at night while he get intensive care, Nobody watched him after hour, they found him died early morning and they're not sure why he died. He spend 3 days in hospital because of his kidney problem. Didn't ate for few days so I take him to hospital. Doctor said he is in terrible condition, might not make too long if I don't put him in. so I decide to do this - that's first day. I visited him second day, looks very upset. didn't look good. peed on himself which never happens before. third day, looks so much better but peed on himself again. Ate some food, loos much more relaxed. Neither me or doctor didn't have doubt about his health at that point, but he passed away at the same night. I've read previous reviews about their expensive price, So I've take a close look at my bill for 3 days. I had estimate bill to compare, but some medication charged more than double, other nutrition pills charge 30 bucks per pill which cost $50-60 for whole bottle in Amazon. I've ask them why this is so expensive, they said it's being injected instead fed so technician and vets are more involved. Other nutrition pill has been charged whole bottle, they said they should have explain better, and asked me if I want donate it to local shelter now. I was bummed. So much regret to take my cat to this hospital.

Very frustrating experience. I booked an appointment for my dog's vaccine shot and wellness check weeks in advance, taking time off work for it. Got a call today from them saying that due to their doctor's change in scheduling, the appointment will have to be cancelled. I tried to reschedule, but was offered no flexibility on times available. The person on the phone told me that they're very booked up and that "sick pets take priority". This is a statement that I will not argue with; however, I booked a wellness check for my pet for the exact reason that I do NOT want her to BECOME a sick pet. This clinic sent me emails and letter mail to urge me to book a wellness check, only to now tell me that it is not a priority. Moreover, when I asked them whether it is wise to delay my dog's vaccine shot, I was told that it should be done as soon as possible. How could you tell me that it's urgent, only to cancel my appointment and tell me that there's no availability? This is hypocrisy at its worst, and I am very disappointed in Burnaby Veterinary Hospital for the way they handled this situation.

I booked an appontment for my dog for his vaccine shot, nobody informed me that it'll have to be very on time, otherwise no refund on the book fee and will not able to get his shot. My appontment was on 2.30pm, and I arrived at 2.45pm which I'm told it's too late and they're going to take an illness dog for higher priority. It ended my dog didn't get his chance for his vaccine because I was late for 15 mins. I'm so disappoint with its service and so angry for this so called "good service".

As with most things in life you get what you pay for, our Yorkie is part of the family and I think his health is as important as mine. Veterinary medicine is expensive but it is not an area where I am prepared to cut costs. I take my dog here because they provide the highest standard of care for my pet and that is the most important thing for me. The Great Doctors and staff are very knowledgeable and super friendly. I could not recommend this hospital more.

I called the neighbourhood for price checks and for confirmation at each business I called that the vet would agree to let me implement my decision to have my cat euthanized without trying to gain personal details about my personal life in exchange for permission to kill a cat. Of the local veterinary businesses who confirmed this decision is mine and the personal details of my life are irrelevant to the vet administering a hired kill, Burnaby Vet Hospital offered the lowest price. So I called back to make an appointment and then reception tried to change the agreement to renegotiate for the cat's fate being the vet's decision. I explained I had already handled the logistics in the price check. The receptionist kept responding with "Will you let me explain to you..." followed by her verbose versions of the concept of veterinary discretion, without having the cognitive ability to make an appointment with a vet who agrees to get the work done. I let her know repeatedly I reject having logistics I have already handled for her explained to me by her as though we are in kindergarten. She asked me to waste my time taking the cat in to see the vet in order to let a randomly selected vet be whimsical across our lives, so I asked her why she thinks I was calling on the phone to make appropriate arrangements in advance, and she said she did not know.

I had been to this location four times since moving nearby. Staff was great and friendly but my last time there was not very satisfying, largely customer service. My dog had a sudden illness and I had to take him on a walk-in for an emergency. They took him in right away, but advised I was to be charged an emergency fee for $125. I thought it was a bit steep but I accepted it for the sake of my dog. What bothered me was the fact that the vet spent one minute with us and charged us the extra $125. I asked the Vet if it can be spread over the cost of all the charges (meds, exams) so I can still claim it all on pet insurance, and she told me it was fraud, which didn't make sense to me. I then asked her if she was governed by any bodies on regulation for prices and she said no it's just a guide line. So how is this fraud if they make up prices as they wished anyway without a governing body? Sounded more like a money grab in my opinion. Anyway, I usually get an email to give my feedback. I took the time to write to them, and they didn't even bother to acknowledge my response, and it has been a month now. Overall, I was not pleased with their client service and I will be looking to go elsewhere with my pet.

I happened to come during the pandemic and right as we rolled up there happened to be a power-outage in the neighbourhood. Despite that, the friendly staff took in my cat for an assessment and were super prompt and clear about their findings. They also have me a complimentary bag of vet-exclusive food. So happy to have found such a great vet a few minutes away!

The staff here is amazing. They are friendly and respectful. Have taken more than one cat there, and even when I lost one of my cats due to heart failure, the staff was compassionate, caring, and very understanding. They use state of the art technology and have their own lab. My cats have seen multiple doctors there since when I lived there I was so busy working shift work, and all doctors were on the same page when providing treatment. It doesn't matter if the medical issue is simple or complex; this is the veterinary hospital that I recommend to everyone who wants top of the line service. I actually switched to this hospital after having a poor experience at a different one. Then I ended up moving to the US. I miss the people working here; they are all terrific. I hope I find a hospital just as good as this one.

BVH is one of the best bet clinics I have had the pleasure of going to. The genuine care and depth of knowledge is unparalleled by any other clinic in the region. They were thorough in they health check and diagnostics and took the time to explain my options for pet treatment. All of my pets go to Burnaby Vet and all are treated with care and calm to ensure their experience is as stress free as possible. I would recommend BVH to anyone looking for a long term health care for their fur family.

This vet office used to be very professional - I spoke very highly of this clinic. However, quality of service has really declined over the last 2 years. I think the staff are overwhelmed due to Covid-19, and this has caused bookings to be extremely limited and far out - months out, to the point where the staff recommended us that maybe we were better off going to another vet. Additionally, we were not told about having to pay $80 to add our puppy into their system as a patient. We wouldn't have minded paying but a heads up would have been appropriate.

Exactly one year ago,I received a “reminder”’from them to call Toffee in for a senior bloodwork exam NEVER DO THAT as it’s a moneytrap. Eventhough I moved to Maple Ridge I WAS TEMPTED as I worried for my dog! She was PERFECTLY HEALTHY! There was a MINOR elevation in her kidney value and they worded it to me like it was the end of the world made me feel DESPERATE! Highfat renal diet was suggested for my CHRONIC GI DOG WHO WAS ON A LOW FAT DIET FOR YEARS! 4 months diarrhea,weakness,fall on head,seizure,dead in one year because of the head injury that led to seizures and lesion in her brain! ALL because she had 4 months of diarrhea due to a STUPID APPROACH and she was SO WEAK! SHE WAS HEALTHY AND HAPPY AND STRONG! I will NEVER FORGIVE YOU BURNABY VET HOSPITAL. When I called them out, when my dog was still alive, and told them that I had stopped feeding her the high fat (because of a Facebook support group who warned me), the vet receptionist dissed me, belittled me and told me to take my dog elsewhere. If you’re thinking of your pet’s health do not take them here and you know your pet pest, dont rush into immediate meds for every small thing, do research first before you give them anything… I miss my angel terribly and I hate myself for taking her there!

We went there for a dog we were pet sitting and the entire process was amazing. The way staff was interacting with the dog spoke volume about how much they care about pets. I cannot find fault with anyone I've come into contact with, and they were all extremely friendly and respectful. This clinic also doesn't try to upsell you on procedures and tests. I take my dog here. He is overweight and dropping in lbs.. he is a rescue. Not from Canada him being overweight is not my family's fault. He is a reactive dog to both people and he has selective reactivity to dogs so exercising him can be a struggle. But i am personally working with him everyday on training well heres the thing.. All the Vet Techs here LOVE him and are super sweet and understanding. Never had an issue with the vet techs love them all. I do like one of the vets i am bad at names my apology but. On the past couple visits the vet i saw was very rude and judgemental, and even blamed me for my dogs weight. I had to explain several times that he is a rescue and i am working on his weight. Its harder to lose weight in the winter as his metabolism is slower. They tried really hard to make me switch to their food instead of his raw..I felt very insulted by the way this vet talked to me.. im not going to stop going because overall its a very good clinic and very lovely people. I wish the vets were more understanding of individual pets and their people. But really over all it really is an absolutely lovely place.

It's a nice place and good doctors but it's extremely pricy. We stopped going there after our quote to spay our dog, it was ridiculously expensive. Our last experience there was the worst. I called to get flee medication for our dog not once did I say I wanted six months of it neither was I told the total price, but I should have clued in when she said they needed 24 hours notice to place the order, I thought to myself that's a lot for a month of flee medication. Once my boyfriend went to pick it up the next day he was very surprised by the price bought it anyways but then called around and found out we could get it somewhere else for half the price. Needless to say they were super rude about the return making my boyfriend feel uncomfortable. We won't be back here any time soon.

I been going to this vet for 5 years will our first dog and would of given them 5 stars. But with our newer dog I was very disappointed with all the sale pitches. Your first appointment with them they book a Vet assistant appointment before the vet check up, which they claim was to inform you of all the things the doctor was going to do and shots, but it was more a 30 minute sale pitch to buy food, insurance, hiring dog trainers and so on. I feel bad for the Vet assistant who goes to school to become a vet assistant and ends up being a sale person instead. I also mentioned that I may consider puppies in the future and got a negative response too. Clearly the vet didn't approve of the idea, but we like the breed and temperament of our dog and just wanted to keep the option open. I clearly stated that my family might want to do multi-generational family pet with this breed, but kind of felt I was treated more like a nasty puppy mill owner. Didn't even mention the idea that at $2000+ for a puppy would be incentive enough for any experience dog owner which I think might of gotten me thrown out of the vet office. Personally I prefer my vets to treat my pet illnesses and prevent illness. Not a sale person to sell me things I don't need or asked for.

My cat injured his leg and I landed on Burnaby Vets. After booking an appt, I called back to ask how much an X-ray would cost. The receptionist refused to quote the price range for a single X-ray. This policy is very specific to this clinic, as several vet’s without flinching where able to give a price range for an x-ray, but unfortunately were booked out for the next 1-2 weeks. I asked to speak to the manager in hopes there would be more flexibility, again an out right refusal to give a price range for a single X-ray. This leaves me as a customer feeling dis-empowered to move forward and prepare financially so I can help my cat get better. I was left unsupported and no longer felt safe bringing my injured cat to them.This policy clearing shows it does not have the clients best interest at heart, instead are looking after themselves first and for-most. Beware of places that rigidly refuse transparency, more often than not, there’s something fishy is going on.

Quite disappointed overall with my experience at Burnaby vet hospital. They do not let owners in with the pets due to covid which is somewhat understandable but we did not have a proper opportunity to then talk to the vet about our questions and concerns. The receptionist always seems too busy to care. The vet quickly phoned following the appointment so we could talk to them but they did not fully answer our questions. They also would not provide record of vaccination. We switched to a different vet and it was a completely different experience. The new vet was so thorough and made me feel like a valued costumer

I would like to thank all the staff at the office. We were recently introduced to the facility when we brought our dog in and unfortunately he was diagnosed with lymphoma. We spent six weeks with visits and I cannot say how impressed we were with the friendly and caring service. The staff went above and beyond to make our Buddy's last weeks comfortable. In the end, we had to put him down and I cannot say how much they made our last moments with him very precious.????????

Not open from 12.30-1.30; I went on their website and under 'Location & Hours' nothing is mentioned about this closure. Instead it's written under their COVID-19 updates -- people aren't going to dig through the site for your hours. Put them up on the appropriate section of your site please - it's just poor design not to. I showed up at 1 just to pick up some supplies, and a nurse working there came out and was very rude/abrupt telling me about the opening hours. She started telling me of all the places I can find their opening hours (I guess they list them everywhere but their 'Location and Hours'?). OK, sorry for giving you my business I guess? I'll be going elsewhere in future.

The most ridiculous one was we were about to leave the house and got a call from them said they have to reschedule it. Today was also very disappointing. We were supposed to have an appointment but went there and was told that we didn’t have it at all. Apparently the operation management needs a lot of works.

Really appreciate time and attitude of the staff and vets in taking care of my dog Momo's skin problem. They are friendly, caring, passionate and professional. Dr Hatley was so patient that she addressed to all my concerns and answered to all my questions. I was so scared when I dropped Momo on the floor from the counter. Assistant Kat acted fast and brought Dr Hatley to check Momo in detail to see if she is doing alright. Im so grateful that I found Momo this clinic. For sure will refer to my friend who have pets.

Every time l bring my dog here Dr careful check all the problem for my dog. Usually they spend for 1 hours and they appointment schedule are great wouldn't have too many dog or cat site in waiting room at the same time.

The vet was considerate and listened to my concerned and discussed her assessment and thought process afterwards. We ran a couple of tests and she thoroughly explained the results although she was not able to make a diagnosis in the end. However, I was very dissatisfied with two of the technicians at the clinic. At multiple times I felt they pushed unnecessary medication/ tests on me despite of clearly stating I wish to discuss it with my husband first. They were even rude at times when we turn down some of the medication/ unnecessary blood tests. I am a registered nurse and my husband is a physician, so we have a very good understanding of medicine and medical prognosis. Overall, we felt this clinic is like most other money grabbing veterinaries which do not necessary care about the health and well-being of these poor animals, but are in business simply to make money.

From shots, to Dentistry, surgery, or assistance with behaviour issues the service is excellent!! My cats are treated with kindness and compassion. The clinic is very clean, and affordable. It took me 3 years to get my cat spayed (don't come at me, I know it's bad). The reason it took me so long was because a number of my friends had lost their pets during or after their surgeries (clinic unknown). Naturally, I was horrified. However, I came to my senses and knew it needed to be done for the health and comfort of my cat. I did TONS of research to decide where to go. I came here. Here are my reasons for my 5 star review: -Appointment bookings were quick and efficient -Had to cancel the spay appointment super last minute due to unforeseen circumstances and they were so kind about it -Explained to me very clearly how to prep my cat for her surgery as well as aftercare procedures -Everyone is very welcoming and I always felt that my cat was safe in their hands -Compared to other places, prices here are very reasonable and they won't trick or force you to purchase something you don't need It's been 3 weeks since my cat's surgery and she's honestly a brand new cat! Her incision is healing so beautifully and I can tell she's super happy.

This is the saddest story for me. I have been a client here for over 20 years. When Dr. McIntyre Owend the practice you always felt it was all about the animals then Dr.Richter bought it and tried very hard to make it work. I feel for her. Now I tried to go in there the other day to buy food. And was scared out by 2 things. The sound of a Mrs.Radnic (I know because I asked) treating people worse then animals and the look of the receptionist. I may be wrong but most people I talked to don’t want to be served by a scary women with face tattos. The prices are now even more outrageous now that it’s an spca clinic I think they jack the rates here to subsidize the shelter

Tried to book an appointment for my cat several days ahead. We've done several emails indicating that I positively would like to book a certain time for my cat. And I also received a phone call from them to talk about the appointment date and time. A day before the confirmed day, I was told that they did not book the appointment for me because "we spoke of this, although we did not confirm that appointment". ??????? Excuse me?????? really????? You messed up the date while on the phone and now you Srewed up the booking?! What the worst worker I have ever seen. Being a loyal customer for years and now I think I made the wrong decision.

Brought my bulldog here when he was sick with something 2 other vets couldn't figure out or help with. Dr richter was unbelievable, she cares so much. After 6 weeks of seeing other vets and going on and off antibiotics, once we brought him to her within 12 hours he had ultrasounds and found a block in his intestines, something he ate. She did surgery that same day and saved his life. I'll never bring my dog to any other vet ever again, beyond happy with all the staff as well. Never thought I would find a vet this caring and passionate.
