In early September I adopted a feral (two/three-month?) old kitten. I made an appointment for the fairly large kitten so that he could be examined and have the required vaccinations etc. On both occasions I spoke with the receptionist I emphasized that the cat was feral and NOT tamed. Again when I brought the cat to the clinic I told them the cat was feral and very frightened. It ended up that the cat severely scratched the vet's assistant (on the arms?) drawing blood. The vet came out told me what had happened and that they would put the cat back in the cage, if they could, and that there was nothing they could do at this time. The cat was reported to the Halton Health Dept and I was required to produce a Veterinarian's certificate that the cat was healthy and had received the appropriate shots.
About a week after the incident I received a call from the vet enquiring about the cat. The REAL reason for the call was to advise me that it would be better if the cat went to another clinic and not return to Tansley Woods.
Due to Covid, it was it was November before I could bring the cat to another clinic to be examined and given the necessary shots and provide the necessary documents to Halton Health that the cat is rabies free and healthy.
I cannot comment on the clinic's medical expertise, but I am thoroughly disappointed that they did not follow protocol when dealing with a feral animal. Incidentally, the cat has grown into a gentle loving pet.
