I have brought my cat Mittens to Headon Forest Animal Hospital since she was born, 11 years ago, and have never been disappointed with the Clinic, the Veterinarians, or the attending staff. Everyone there is extremely professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and very caring with our pets. Whether you have a cat or a dog, I highly recommend Headon Forest Animal Hospital, and I am positive you will love it as much as I do.

I sit and read posts from different people about this vet but let me tell you about my experiences. A year ago I took our dog to the vet and explained he was falling asleep standing up, falling over, not sleeping and walking backwards. Not one test was done and I was told he was fine. We went on vacation and got a call from our son hysterical saying he found him in his room dead. We took our second dog to the vet explaining her issues and was told she had an ear infection and a yeast infection in her paws. After numerous medications and a HUGE cost we took her home. She seemed to start getting a little better until she would no longer take all the pills prescribed and stopped eating. We took her to another vet and as soon as he saw her he said she is not doing good. After one simple X-ray she has a tumour on her spleen and we had to have her put down the next day. We called to speak to Dr. Martin on Friday and received a call back almost a week later and was told she treated her for what she had but no refund would be received. Our prescious dog was 12 years old and all they were concerned about was putting her under to do dental work at a cost of $1500. dollars or taking her to Guelph to a skin specialist. It is pretty sad that they are not held accountable for their treatments and overcharging for as much medication they could possibly give a dog. You are a disgusting clinic and I warn anyone about taking any animal to them!

After getting wonderful reviews about Headon Forest Animal Hospital, we decided to choose them as our vet team for our new puppy, Chewy! They were prompt and informative from my very first email. Chewy had his first appointment with them yesterday, and even though these different times don't allow us to go in for the appointment, the caring nature of the technician let us know our 7 week old puppy was in good hands. We received a call from the Vet while Chewy was in the appointment to give us a detailed report. We look forward to building more of a relationship with the clinic as Chewy grows!

I have been coming here for about 14 years. I am cost conscious so I always ask how much something recommended is. Do I love my pets less for asking? No. But lets face it cost is a consideration, cant spend what I don't have. They have never once treated me poorly like some other vets have because I ask what the cost is. I've been told by other vets "well, if you love your pet you spend what is needed". I have had many of my animals here for various reasons. They have always provided up dates, follow-ups and worked with me to come up with a care plan that works. I won't go anywhere else with my animals. I have never experienced price gouging or superfluous treatments or procedures here. I have been to many, many vets in my 25+ years of animal "parenthood", and this hospital is tops. From the front line staff to the vets, everyone here is A+ and are customer centric. Dr. Hall and Dr. Murphy are my girls fave vets. Keep up the good work!!

We have been clients of Headon Forest Animal Hospital for over 10 years. They are absolutely amazing! Every single one of the their staff are caring, friendly, and knowledgeable. Their vets are all wonderful, but especially Dr. Tina Hall. Our dog has had a variety of health issues, and her advice is spot on every time. Our dog has never been scared to visit, and in fact gets excited when he does due to the level of care and attention they show him. If you’re looking for an honest and caring vet, look no further! We even moved away from the area, but continue to make the trip as we couldn’t imagine a better place to take him. Thanks HFAH for taking such great care of us over the years.

My mom has taken her dogs here for over 20 years. When I started having health issues with my cat that didn't seem to be getting better when taking him to other vets, she encouraged me to make the trek from where I now live, Hamilton. I am so glad that she convinced me. While they are more expensive than the other vets I was attending, the care than Henry has received since coming here has been absolutely incredible. My previous vets had chalked Henry's frequent vomiting up to excessive grooming, and had given me laxatone, which didn't seem to help. Headon Forest started Henry on a daily anti-nauseant, which finally stopped the vomiting. A few months down the line they also prescribed him a special veterinary food, which has allowed Henry to come off of the anti-nauseant completely. The vets, techs, and reception staff always spend the time with me on the phone. When Henry had his initial exam with them during the pandemic, the vet spent nearly a half hour on the phone with me talking about his issues and answering all the questions I had. They genuinely care about the animals and their owners here.

I agree with some other reviews here. The ladies at the front desk are great but you really need to watch your bill and the service they give you. Last year I brought my dog in somewhat desperate, we were new to the area and he was bleeding a bit from his mouth. They said he had some gum infections and needed teeth pulled. I wasn't surprised as he was a rescue and had experienced other issues in the past. The Dr told me 4 teeth and that it would be about $1000. While he is in surgery a week later she calls to say he in fact needs 16 teeth pulled. Afterwards, my bill was over $2000. I have listened to every food, treat, and toy suggestion since then and here we are a year later and some of his remaining teeth are sore and wiggly. Not sure why they didn't tend to them a year ago. Seems like they were hoping I would shell out another $1000 for them. Needless to say I'll be going to another clinic.

Dr. van Monsjou is just the best veterinarian I have ever experienced; she made my dog instantly at ease and relaxed the second she saw her! I received a phone call updating me about the surgery and the vet was very open to address all of my questions. Headon was willing to see us in an emergency situation as our regular clinic was closed. I cannot even begin to express my gratitude to Headon Forest Animal Hospital. There are not strong enough words in the English language. My just recently turned 12 year old Boston Terrier Venus was going through a rough time. Twice daily seizures for almost a month, then a little lung collapse then heart troubles – just way too much all at once. I was suddenly seeing my once vibrant, curious, outgoing pup wilt before my eyes and it was killing me to the core. There was no way this could suddenly be her time. No way! I had to hold her up so she could go to the bathroom. Her seizures left her in such a weakened state and tired out. She was losing her appetite. She was losing weight. She was not the Venus we all knew and loved. I could not accept that this was her life now. But, when I brought her to HFAH, Dr. Patton came along and absolutely fixed the seizures. Well we know we cannot get rid of them but they can be managed with the right diagnosis and medication. And Dr. Patton got it so right. Venus has not had any seizures or signs of since the new meds and dosages. And Dr. Patton’s promise to follow up always came to fruition with genuine care as to how little Venus was doing along with a strong bedside manner. Thank you! Thank you! Ok, so we had the seizures under control. Then, little Ms. Venus’ breathing became abnormal with little coughs I had never heard before. Poor little bug was not sounding great. I made an appointment to have her checked and Dr. Taminsky (please forgive me if the spelling is incorrect) took to the challenge of diagnosing Venus and discovered the lung and heart issues. At first having been used to Dr. Patton, I was hesitant to have a new doctor see Venus, but my goodness, no matter who sees your pet at HFAH, they share the same level of passion and care for your pet. Dr. Taminsky identified the issues, provided the right meds for improvement and maintenance and explained so well the meds, the dosages, making the best possible recommendations for the health of my dog. Not doing anything more than necessary, but doing enough to ensure complete and most effective care for my dog. She listened, and genuinely cared for my dog. She to expressed the same joy in her improvement and that is key to being a good vet and the reason one should be a vet. Thank-you so much! And the vet techs who have been with Venus every step of the way – thank-you! That additional support has not gone unnoticed. COVID has brought businesses into such unconventional practices, and especially when you have a pet that is your world, and you cannot be with them when they are being examined, I not once had any reservations about passing Venus along to them - not once - because my heart and gut knew she was getting the absolute best care! The doctors listen and they let you talk and vent if you need to. As dogs get older, we as their caregivers get more emotional and scared and sad and having staff and the doctors here take the time to listen and console means the world! We all want our pets to live forever, but we also want them to have the best care, and I would drive 1000km if I had to continue bringing Venus here for the best. Thank so much everyone. I am not in denial that my dog is getting older, but she still has a lot of life to give. HFAH, has given me my dog back! I am forever grateful. Anyone with a pet needs them cared for by HFAH. They are the best! ????

After searching to switch vets from Mississauga, Headon came highly recommended by a few friends. We've brought our rescue puppy Fern here for a couple visits and couldn't be happier we chose them. They try their best to be accommodating and get you in as soon as possible when an issue arises and are very very thorough when they spend time with you. As first time dog owners they've also been amazing in sharing resources and demoing how to clean a puppies ears etc. I love how kind and caring every staff member is and their follow up emails. We have been going to Headon Forest Animal Hospital for years. The staff are always wonderful. We recently had to say good bye to our cat, Lyra. Lyra was 17 years old and it was tough to say good bye, but the staff were so good with us and Lyra. We were impressed that they obviously reviewed our end of life preferences for our pets from our past experience with our dog, Finn. They took us on the day we called about Lyra even though they were totally booked. You cannot find better vet staff! The manager is extremely unprofessional and ill mannered, she took a minor request almost personally and escalated an otherwise insignificant issue with her obnoxious behaviour and attitude beyond belief. It's the smallest amount of power-tripping pettiness I've seen go to someone's head. She actually insulted me and called me rude, just for asking her to waive an extremely minor fee ($25) which I requested in an extremely respectful manner. She could have simply refused. The reception staff and the manager promised they would take care of all my pet insurance hassles during onboarding (for my 2 kitties), which turned out to be a complete lie. One I committed to their clinic, I was left to deal with the pet insurance forms on my own. The staff also doesn't respect our time. They don't call us at the times they promise to call back with important information (on several occasions). One time they made a mistake and told us to arrive about 20-30 minutes before our scheduled appointment, which during COVID curbside drop-off meant that my wife and I had to wait in the cold in the car for that long, and she eventually had to be late for work which was extremely infuriating. They wouldn't answer the phone. They saw us outside and acknowledged our presence (with a dismissive and rude hand on watch gesture), and they kept us waiting. They didn't have the courtesy to pick-up our kitty earlier than scheduled despite being their mistake. This was extremely infuriating and unacceptable. Even talking to the owner about all of this was extremely disappointing, she was very passive about her staff's unprofessional behaviour. This is the worst level of service I received in my life in any establishment, large or small. Definitely wouldn't recommend this clinic.

Headon Forest Animal Hospital always goes above and beyond to make sure that our fur babies are well taken care of. They always follow up with the care of my pets. They even sent us a condolence card signed by all the staff when our dog passed away suddenly. As well they made a donation to the Guelph Veterinary College in our dogs name. Very thoughtful!

Hello, to those reading this review here is my story of how my $500 went down the drain. . So, I registered at my dog at this hospital a few months ago because it was closer to my house. MY MISTAKE. They blindly charge you and you don’t know what you are paying for when you get in. Last week, I took my dog in for an appointment. They said it was just a check up to see how my dog was doing, and so I thought nothing of it. I begin by telling the doctor about my dog and how he has been having diarrhea lately. The assistant said she would inform the doctor to let her know that it is still an issue. The assistant then begins to tell me that tick, flea and heartworm season is coming up. So, me being a new dog owner is concerned and agree to the topical solution. A tick test/heart worm is needed to be done so they blindly charge you $55.00 without telling you about it. They made me wait 20 minutes to take my dog to the back so they can do that without telling me. The assistant then gave me an extra solution so I could put it on my dog as soon as possible. In total, the package for Multi/Advantix was about $170.00 WITH the add on of $20 because of the extra solution. The package is supposed to last 6 months, but now 7 months in this case because of the additional charge. Was it a necessary charge? No, not really. The staff there were all friendly, however there was this one condescending doctor out of the two that I have encountered so far that I would like to talk about. I told this doctor that I was feeding my dog the food that the more amiable doctor gave to me as well as prescribed tablets. I also said that I occasionally mixed the food with ground beef and bits of chicken due to the fact that the food given was quite bitter according to the doctor I talked to before and she said it was totally fine. However, this doctor then decides to rebuttle back and inform me that the chicken/beef was the problem my dog was still having diarrhea. The doctor then begins to tell me that my dog is quite overweight for the age he is at and that it is MY fault that he is this way. I know for a fact that my dog is nowhere near overweight. She then begins to tell me that she would give me more food to help assist my dog to better health and the prescribed medicine will be doubled to aid with the diarrhea. I was alright with it then knowing my dog needed it. Did she tell me how much food she was giving me or how many tablets I was going to be given, the price? NO. The 56 tablets costs about $64.00 and the 12 cans of food, $44.00. I was given 14 tablets and 5 cans last time. Is it really reasonable to give me a whole case of food. She then proceeds to tell me that a fecal sample needs to be brought in in order to determine if my dog has ingested any parasites, and I was okay with that too. Little did I know that she would additionally charge me $32.00 for that assumption. She also said a re-evaluation needs to be done to my dog due to the fact that he is not the healthiest, $55.00. With tax, everything came to $500.00. All in all, after being there for almost and hour I’ve managed to learn that I will never come back here again and now I am down $500.00. *On a side note, if you are thinking of getting an x-ray done or surgery here she did mention that it was about $250 for the x-ray and the surgery ranges from $500-$2000. They will probably will throw in some additional charges here and there so you never know what you are paying for! ** For the last couple of months, every scheduled appointment I spend about $200 or more ***I know that this place has such good reviews but just know statistics does show that people who have issues with a corporate tend not to complain.

The last couple of experiences I have had at this vet have been awful. Will not be bringing my dog back. TO THE OWNER Your response failed to acknowledge that I stated my last COUPLE of experiences have been awful. You do not care about the animals well being you only care about making money. Hence why you wanted me to book an appointment to probably charge me $200 when I simply just had a question. Not once did I state that I wanted to take someone else's already booked appoinment. No. I did not book an appoinment as I did not need an Appoinment. I have been a client of yours for almost 2 years now and I should feel comfortable to stop in if I simply have a question without having to book an Appoinment. If no one was available to speak to then is fine that was not the issue I had It was the way that I was treated and spoken to that I was not happy with. This was just the final straw after having other bad experiences there. Next time maybe contact your clients directly instead of blindly replying and guessing what the problem was without even knowing the issues that have occured. As I will state AGAIN this was not the first issue I have had.

I continue to bring my 2 furkids (Lucky and Logan) here and have moved several times around the GTA but cannot move away from switching veterinarians. Today was my first appointment and I drove more than an hour to take my cat to headon forest. Totally worth it! My cat received the best treatment and was handled with genuine care. Incredibly professional, kind and caring staff who are ready to go the extra mile to make sure you and your animal companion are well taken care of. Reception team is exceptionally kind, informative and supportive, I was treated with respect and were listened to with care every time I called. I can't even begin to express how friendly and professional all the technicians are! Not only Carley did an absolutely amazing job with my cat, but she was also there for me every step of the way, making sure I had enough information, I was well-prepared for the visit and I was emotionally supported as a cat parent. I can't thank you enough Carley and the rest of the team! My cat's doctor was also amazing, a great listener, knowledgeable and supportive. No unnecessary tests or medications were suggested, and I felt my cat was in great hands at all times. I was also impressed by the way appointments were handled during the current lockdowns, very organized and well-planned. I was received on time, my cat's history was taken on the phone and the doctor spoke with me on the phone while examining my cat. I was again updated on everything and then I received a phone call to pick up my cat when she was done. This team is amazing!!! When we had an issue before our actual appointment a quick call and conversation saved what could have been an expensive trip for something I could watch from home.

We couldn't be happier with Headon Forest Animal Hospital -- all of the techs, doctors, and especially our primary vet Dr. Teminski, are fantastic. They are professional, thorough, highly responsive and you can tell they genuinely care about their patients (we receive regular and fast follow-up calls and emails whenever they are needed). When our older cat passed away last summer, the team was compassionate and so helpful as we grieved our loss, and when we later adopted two rescue kittens, we didn't hesitate to bring them to Headon Forest for routine care. It is such a relief to know we have a reliable and highly committed vet team that we can always count on. Plus, we really appreciate the payment plan they have in place for kittens; their first year brings a lot of expenses (vaccines, spaying/neutering, etc.) and it's helpful to spread those costs out over time.

We have been coming here for almost 8 years. They were VERY attentive with my first Yorkie. He had so many health issues with IBD, 2 knee surgeries, lymphangiectasia and thyroid issues. They always took such good care of him. They always made follow up calls promptly after any blood work or ultrasound appointments and would call us in between visits just to see how he was doing. He was quite fussy too and they were always accommodating with us, making sure we got in to a room quickly. Now we have another Yorkie and they’ve been great with his first few appointments. I would recommend to anyone looking for a great vet with friendly customer service, knowledgeable staff and for and an office that truly cares about the well being of your animal(s). All the girls at reception are amazing too!

I was fostering a beautiful dog, through Burlington Humane Society which I have since adopted. He has heart issues due to Lyme and heartworm disease. Maverick was a patient at Headon Forest and the caring, compassion, empathy and treatment he received from all staff there, led me to stay with them even though I live in east Oakville. I have had lots of interactions with doctors, technicians and office staff as I also foster cats and kittens and the kindness and caring extends to all of their patients.
