The last visit to tri lake was the last straw.. The wait in the waiting room is typically half an hour past the appointment time then they place you in an exam room and leave you there for another 45 minutes to an hour..or more.. before seeing your pet... The service is very able.. they have lots of knowledge and ability however, the clinic itself is no longer a small family operated business and as such, the quality of service has slipped. If you are late or miss an appointment, they are very quick to point out that it won't be tolerated but they never seem to be able to make their own appointments on time, leaving a customer to wait... This trend has been getting worse over time. Once again, the service is very able, it's just become big business and you can expect to be left to wait. After using this service for 10 years or more, we now go elsewhere. . Although it seems other places are a bit less money (which doesn't really matter) but if you add the massive wait times.. it becomes not worth the drive. There would, most likely, be times when we would return to use the service, however, for routine matters, you can save hours going somewhere else for help that is just as competent. I was a big supporter for years. Leaving was difficult but I just got tired of waiting and waiting.. for an appointment that was booked a week or more in advance to be left waiting like that.. for every visit for more than a year..gets frustrating.

Trust me when I say that this probably has to be the best vet in the around. I researched and emailed many vets in the and did extensive research into veterinary care in the Kelowna area. Since we are on a budget it was nice to see that the prices were very reasonable in accordance with the care we received there. Save your time researching places to go and just go to Tri-Lake Animal Hospital!

Excellent service very friendly atmosphere, Rex legs are much better he is running, chasing ducks and frisky again (without surgery). We can enjoy this year summer together. Thank you Dr. Eliot Kaplan for your backing and encouragements, I don’t know if I will be as diligent and positive without your support. Thanks again from both of us Elizabeth

Awesome caring people work here. They took a little injured wild bird to help after another vet turned me away. You guys rock!!

Lovely team here, so attentive and caring when I brought my dog in on short notice. Highly recommend!

We've been with Tri Lake for about 4 years now and I can easily say that they're the best vet we've ever been to. Regardless of which doctor we see, it's always the same amazing service. Our first experience with them was after we had adopted a dog that had a lot of trust issues and was quick to nip. Dr Kaplan was very considerate of the dog's special needs and his calm confidence quickly put us at ease with the situation. He never seemed hurried and encouraged us to ask any questions that we had. We can't thank him enough for his patience with us. Our most recent experience was with putting our beloved cat down. I can't even begin to describe how much I appreciate Dr Linda Kaplan's compassion and consideration towards us. She called us after every test, helped keep our cat as comfortable as possible and was there to offer comforting words when we had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye. We make the drive from Kelowna to Winfield in order to bring our pets to Tri Lake and I've never regretted it. As an added bonus, we seem to have pretty good luck seeing unusual animals there. Last time we were there, some kind man let my son feed his pet pig raisins; my son talked about the pig all day! So thank you Tri Lake staff for being so amazing!

I absolutely love this animal hospital! When our puppy was 6 months old, she was poisoned and we took her in to Tri Lake where the great vets and staff nursed her for over a week. We weren't sure she was going to make it. Pheobe made a full recovery. We completely recommend going here!

Amazing hospital. The staff is great, educated and compassionate.

I've been to many many many vets. It's an eye opener when you come across a high quality vet. This is what I experienced at TriLake. My old boy was assessed for pain management. Apparently every other vet missed a torn ACL ! My boy is 14 yr old and is finally in the hands of excellence ♥️????????

Excellent experience even in a time of stress. Thank you.

This business/clinic is comically disorganized. I adopted an African Grey parrot that was in poor health. I booked an appointment with them for a quick checkup to see what I had to do to get her back on track (she's bleeding from self mutilating at the previous home). Tri Lake said they didn't have anything available until the 31st of May (the day I called to book was Friday, May 14th). After explaining my situation that the previous owner was leaving the country in 3 days they said they would see her on Monday for an emergency visit and advised me to "arrive as early as possible prior to 1PM when the avian vet will be arriving." The previous owner packed up Ellie & drove from West Kelowna to lake country & I met her there driving out from Kelowna. When we arrived they had no recollection of speaking with me & said the appointment doesn't exist, they told me it was my fault I didn't call the morning of the appointment to confirm (what?) & that the avian vet wasn't in Monday's (even though they explicitly told me the vet would be there for 1PM Monday to take emergency appointments). I had to call in a favour and have a friend contact another vet to see her. The checkup cost me $56+tax. I then get a call an hour later from tri lake who told me the first receptionist must have been misinformed, and the vet called in sick for Monday. So which is it - was it my fault I didn't call in, is the vet not in on Monday's, or was the vet sick? The checkup at Tri-lake for my conure in perfect health cost $160 - no blood work, nothing, just looked at him. Regarding that appointment - I arrived 30 minutes early yet the vet was 25 minutes late. Kelowna Veterinary Hospital; a whopping $56+tax for a more intricate checkup with a FAR LESS cooperative parrot. I have not had a single organized or thoughtful experience from Trilake, these are our animals guys; have some accountability when you make mistakes. I supplied them with this photo upon my first booking request. [photo from pervious owner's ad]

Wanting a quote on teeth cleaning came in at $800-$3000...I know it's hard to be exact but this is an unfair range...a difference of $2200! A bit much!

We want to thank Dr, Chris Jorden and the team at Tri Lake for taking such good care of our Pomey with a broken paw. They called us as promised as soon as her surgery was completed. As far as we are concerned, they have lived up to their reputation as the best in town. ????????

Dr. Elliot Kaplan is amazing! I bring my lab mix there usually just for yearly check ups, but this past spring my dog developed separation anxiety so I took him to Dr. Kaplan. He was very concerned and asked a lot of questions to get down to the root of the problem. I was thrilled when he said he didn't want to put him on anything (drugs) just yet. Later on we did had to turn to putting him on anti depression but Dr. Kaplan was extremely on top of things, faxing prescriptions right away for us which made things so much easier. I am proud to say my dog has kicked the SA and is back to his normal self! He's only been my vet for 3 years but I wouldn't go anywhere else, and he even works on Sundays!

I really like this hospital because although a little expensive, I know my dogs are cared for in time of need. I also know that there is always someone there 24/7 if one of my crybabies is I'll. It is a multifaceted hospital. The staff and Veterinarians are also very helpful and comforting.

Dr. Coldwell and her team provide incredibly professional and thorough care for reptiles. My Red Eared Slider Turtle required surgery for a large abscess on her neck which Dr. Coldwell performed flawlessly. Post-surgery, she made sure I had all of the proper knowledge and instructions to successfully continue care at home. She also made me feel comfortable and confident leaving my RES overnight two nights in a row. I am so thankful to have found the Tri Lake Animal Hospital, being new to the Okanagan area myself. If we ever have any health issues again, we will definitely be returning for Dr. Coldwell's care.

Brian Lutz

Very personable and caring!

Daryl Chymko

By far the best vet we have ever been to. The staff go above and beyond the call of duty and bring so much compassion into their work. Dr Carmell is one of the most competent and compassionate vets I have ever had the pleasure to meet and we love knowing that our animals have the best care they possibly could have under him.

Chey Rosé Fontaine (Shy)

Extremely welcoming and friendly staff!

I brought my dog here to get spayed and she got mites!! Disgusting cleaning practices. Then when I brought her in to get diagnoses, the vet dragged out the appt trying to convince me it was alopecia. Also, brought my male dog in for a bacterial infection and his ears were all torn up from scratching at them and she didn't even give me a cone!! Another one of the vets doesn't like big dogs so doesn't properly assess them. Really unprofessional, unclean, and bad veterinarians. Which is too bad, because all the nonvet ladies are really kind. But bad doctors makes a bad practice!!

S S

Warm and welcoming right from the get go. I brought in my fancy rat, he was quite hit with the staff. Which was awesome. Also, I was given a room just to keep my boy warm and kind of away from dogs just incase they barked or anything. So, all in all it was great. I couldn't have asked for a better first visit. Will be using their services from now on

They were helpful, kind, and understanding. They did everything the couldn't to help my pet get better. They're knowledgeable, and I love that they have exotic pet experts. However, I wish their emergency line were 24/7. There's no one in town you can call if your exotic pet is sick after hours.

I would like to thank all the staff of Tri Lake Animal Hospital for being so empathetic and understanding, no matter what the situation. They show their true love of animals on a daily basis and will show honest grief should something untoward happen to one of their clients' pets. I would also like to thank Dr. Eliot Kaplan for suggesting Wayne Dorman of Dogzies for the training of my reactive dog, Sam. Wayne has made such an incredible difference and it would not have happened without Dr. Kaplan's suggestion. Instead, Sam may have ended up at the SPCA because he was becoming totally unmanageable. I owe both Dr. Kaplans and the rest of the staff so much for all the care and attention they have paid, not just to my own pets but to all the cats I have fostered, over the years. I can never thank them enough. Karen Brandt

My mother brought her beloved ferret here For multiple visits. The vet dismissed her concerns but ended up going through with a surgery early January, vet bills totally $2400 with Dr.Kaplan. After surgery the issue was still happening and when my Mom brought her back for a check up Dr. Kaplan said it must just be her habit “grooming herself”. Yet they charged her $2000 for a surgery. 2 days ago her ferret passed away horribly from massive sezuires. My mom is absolutely devastated. Upon calling the clinic back the reception was excellent and Said they would speak to Dr.Kaplan about an autopsy. She refused to call my mother back and said in response that my mom needs to go to someone more experienced for an autopsy. More experienced, yet you were experienced enough to perform a $2000 surgery? Absolutely disgusting way to handle someone’s beloved pet dying what an absolute money pit this clinic is. Seems like no regard for the owner or any care for the pet unless they’re getting money out of you.

Fantastic humans work here :)

At first, I would say I was happy to bring my cats here, until a particular visit, where I was told that my cat needed a puffer for asthma for the rest of their life due to a potential breathing problem. When I asked her about whether or not it was really necessary she got very aggressive about my cat needing this treatment and when she said that most of her patient cats are on a puffer, I became very suspicious and went for a second opinion. A second opinion proved her wrong. When visiting another vet, for a bump on my cat, I wasn't aware that this 2nd vet worked with this Tri Lake Animal Hospital until I got said quote below in an email... CT scan of my cat. This while help plan exactly where this mass goes and double check there is no spread further than we expect, the cost of the CT scan would be ~ $1500-2000. This would be done at Trilake Animal Hospital. It could also be done I believe with similar timing to the surgery, but would need to discuss with the team at Trilake to confirm this. Dr estimates that surgery with him would be between $2500-3000, on top of the CT scan." Wow! $4,500-5,000 for a bump on my cat, that another Vet somewhere else, estimated me a quote of $370.00 Also, I already had a biopsy down the first time on the lump and it came back negative for anything. Dr at TriLake had already reviewed my cat's file prior to sending out a quote to this 2nd Vet without even asking to see my cat in person. My reason for putting this review out, is to say that there are other options outside of the area that won't break your wallet. Do research and get 2nd/3rd opinions. It will avoid putting undue stress on you and your animals

Ariane Hohmann

Honestly I have a hard time writing this review. I have worked in Veterinary clinics, went to school for Veterinary Assistant. So when I go to a new clinic I know what to be looking for and what to watch out for. I understand also when there are bad days and good days. I also understand that with Covid it has made everyday things and procedures a lot harder. That being said, I wouldn't recommend this clinic to anyone that is nervous or concerned for the well being of their pet. The customer support or care is not there. Every time, EVERY TIME, I call I am asked "Is this an emergency or can I put you on hold?" Then I am placed on hold from 5 to 10 to 15 minutes on hold. This is not proper procedure, you should have the staff in place to handle the phones and staff that handle the animals. If you have staff placing calls please make sure they are informed with what is happening with your animal. To be told " I don't know" is defiantly not okay. "I don't know, but I can find that information for you" Is a lot better. A basic appointment should not take 2 hours, and it definitely should not come with ZERO update about your animal. Another time, I was waiting outside with my toddler, we brought a blanket, food and we were going to have a picnic while we waited for them to draw blood from our cat. (I was prepared this time to wait outside for awhile) It started to rain, we hid under the cover with everything in tow. It being a small space we were getting in the way of employees coming and going for other appointments. No one said anything, then one of their staff opens the side door and says in a very rude tone "Do you need help with something?" to which I replied "I am waiting for an update on my cat "name." She then closed the door and I heard NOTHING from her. Which honestly made me feel like I was just some random person hanging around for no good reason. No update, no "if you would like to go and come back you can." NOTHING. I then with toddler, food, blanket, in the rain, felt overwhelmed. I called requested to speak to the clinic manager. She did apologize, but said her staff didn't mean it that way. Not, I will talk to them or we will work on our customer care. Just a regular old day. I have given this clinic many, many chances but we are now looking for another clinic. Their prices are too high for this level of care. Customers should not be on hold for more then 2 to 3 minutes. I should not have to wait 3 hours outside to just have ZERO news about my animal. I should not have to fight so hard for just minimal sort of customer care out of a clinic.

Dr Kaplan and Dr Linda Kaplan have been my family veterinarian's for 20 years. I have had 4 dogs thrive and grown up under their exemplary care. Shade was a dog who had many issues in his years. I am forever grateful for the care over 12.5 years. It was not care, it was love. Dr Kaplan loves what he does. He cares about everyone of his charges. I am so grateful to have been able to use their services for my four legged family. I can recommend this clinic over any in the valley. I drive from one end of the city to Winfield only because Tri Lake is the best clinic from the Dr's to all the hard working staff. I know they work very hard to run this clinic and they do it extremely well. I have never ever questioned a decision or a medicine. This is the place to go for check ups to therapy. I simply can not say enough about Tri Lake Animal Hospital and every single one of the brightest, caring Dr's who live and breath this profession. Thank you all for everything you do and do so very well.

Went above and beyond with taking good care of my bunny! Did a full exam, no rush, took the full hour to go over everything going on with her with us. Took the time to also suggest new ways to incorporate a new diet, printed us off some amazing and helpful resources. Overall, so happy we ended up choosing here as the place to look after our bunny during a little spook she gave us! Thank you for giving her all the love and care. Will definitely be back again!

Great service. Dr Carmel was wonderful with our baby (Jersey). He explained the procedure so that I could understand all the options and am confident I know what to expect. The service and professionalism was really appreciated. In addition, we know our dog is a bit overweight and I really appreciated how gentle and encouraging Dr Carmel was instead of lecturing. We look forward to our next visit.

My cat was having issues peeing and we searched in Vernon for a vet that was open, none were taking emergency calls other than tri-lake so me and my girlfriend quickly drove out to lake country. His condition turned out not be that serious and we were provided with medication and clear/concise instructions on how to take care of him and make sure the same didn't happen again. They charged reasonably and we left with food, meds, helpful pieces on his condition to read and smiles knowing our baby was safe. I would let Tri Lake animal hospital to take care of my pets again, and if you live in lake country, or if you're in an emergency this is a good place to take your fur babies. Making sure you can keep your animals safe is very important, and I would trust the team at Tri Lake to do it again!

IF YOU LOVE YOUR DOG DONT BRING THEM HERE!!!! Where do I even begin. Booking the appointment - To start out I made an appointment for 5pm and was told it would take an hour at the most. I was also told I would be aloud to go with my dog inside the hospital. The appointment - When I got there I was told I was not aloud to go in with her even though she gets very scared and anxious at the vet. Then as I sit in my van I notice everyone else is going in with their dog. Hour one goes by and I call to see what is going on and they say my dog is next to be seen. 3 hours goes by and I called to see what is going on they told me my dog hadn’t even been seen yet. They told me to just go home without her. I didn’t want to leave her there so I took her back and was told she was sitting in a cage for 3 hours. I then found out SHE WASN’T EVEN GIVEN WATER THE ENTIRE TIME! I sat in the parking lot for 3 hours (even though the lady told me my appointment was at 5pm and wouldn’t be more than an hour) AND THEY DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Now I have to book another vet appointment somewhere else and do it all over again. DO NOT EVER BRING YOUR PET HERE. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE.

We took our sick little leopard gecko here. He needed surgery but didn’t make it. I was so impressed with the kind, caring and professional staff. They fit our pet in for a last minute appointment, were able to perform the surgery and gave us updates throughout the day. They phoned us to let us know that he had died that evening. When we picked him up the next day we were given cards with his hand and tail prints and also not charged the full cost of the procedure. They did everything they could and I felt our pet was in great hands despite the outcome. I highly recommend this animal hospital and cannot speak highly enough about it.

They were very helpful when we had to bring our dog in as she ripped her claw which I will give them 5 stars for but holy smokes they are VERY expensive! The same treatment at our on vet is less than half of what we were charged. This was during regular business hours and not an after hours emergency. So because of how expensive they were I only give them 3 stars

The staff of Tri Lake Animal Hospital are awesome. I particularly appreciate Dr. Carmel. He is caring and thoughtful and truly listens to any concerns I have related to my cat, Katie. He was absolutely brilliant with my cat, Frank, as he neared the end of his life. I say "Thank You" over and over to Dr. Carmel and Tri Lake.

My dog saw Dr. Jordan for a surgery. All the staff were caring and polite, despite me being a bit anxious. Great service. Dr. Jordan was wonderful - he was calm, compassionate, and too the time to explain the entire process very thoroughly to me in a way that was easy to understand.

Very good people here. Took the time to explain the ultrasound and answer my questions. Followed up the next day.

This is the only place that we take our guinea pigs. Well worth the drive over from Kamloops. Dr Coldwell is very knowledgeable and treated our little Darwin as though he was her own. Unfortunately he passed away in the clinic late in the night after a surgery to remove a bladder stone. Dr Coldwell called me first thing in the morning to extend her sympathies, and discount our bill as a courtesy. When I went to pick up his remains everyone was so kind. It's nice to see that they treat all animals equally, and don't discriminate. A couple weeks later we received a hand written card from Dr Coldwell again sympathizing our loss. I cannot thank them enough. Fast forward a couple weeks and we brought our other guinea pig into the clinic as a walk in and Dr Kaplan was amazing. She was patient, and took her time to go over ever one of our concerns without making us feel like she was in a rush.

We have had animals that have been patients of Trilake Animal Hospital for over 15 years. We wouldn't think of bringing our animals anywhere else even though there are any number of vets in closer proximity. The staff as well as the doctors are always caring and loving towards the animals. They are always greeted by their names and made to feel comfortable. The caring nature of the professional staff always shines, even at the worst of times.

This vet is amazing. I own 4 birds and I will not consider taking them anywhere else. They really care about their clients and it shows that they love animals.

This had to be one of the worst experiences of my life.... on an already difficult decision. I had an appointment to put my 13 year old black lab, with a torn ACL, constant pain, anxiety, lumps and high chance of cancer, down to sleep. I entered the room to say my good byes with my pet and the vet walked in. My dog never growles at anyone but as soon as he saw her he snarled. She was non empathetic and asked for every reason I wanted to put him down and if I exhausted all options. She wanted to know if I wanted to put him on medication without even touching him or examining him. She said she had to examine him over and over, and never even layed her hands on him. She got offended and left the room. She explained that it was the receptionists fault, for not having explained to me the procedure of euthanasia with a new pet/client. It was just terrible.

kaiankat

Always prompt and accommodating. I like that they keep you updated on everything that's happening and gives me options when something needs attention.

Teresa The Customer

Completely mismanaged! Unorganized and not professional! I was their May 7th where the doctor told me that the puppy rabies shot would be given the following week! May 13 i go to our appointment, they tell me i dont have an appointment! I call to speak to the manager and the girl on the phone tells me the mgr wont be back for another week! I said how is it possible that there’s no one to leave a complaint with? Apparently both supervisor and mgr were away! MISMANAGED

Kevin T

Used to be the best doggy Dr but just took my dog in and the Vet was scared of my 12 yr old 30 pound shihtzu mix and he is not a biter leaving me confused as Veteran's should not be afraid of a little dog, maybe she's in the wrong line of work as her ability to do a proper exam is not possible when you are afraid of your job, she wanted to put him under and add a dental cleaning at a huge cost. We were also, after 1.5 hrs in the clinic, forgotten then we had to ask for his medication as we were leaving cause they must have forgotten that too. Very disappointing... Sorry just being truthful

I have been using Tri Lake Animal Center for over a decade now .. everything from saying goodbye to pets or welcoming new ones home with a check up and such .. too emergency appointments when necessary down to the lil dogs nail trims .. the staff is warm knowledgeable and great with the patients and their humans . Reasonable costs for industry.. although let’s face it .. all vets are expensive

Trish Hoyle

Dr Coldwell isn't a good vet my dogs mouth was bleeding and we took him in and she jumped back when he barely even touched her I had to hold my dogs mouth open and she didn't look very well said he needs a dentist cleaning for $1,500 to $1,800 left and forgot about us then went to pay and they forgot to give us the meds and when I asked about them I got asked is he supposed to get them very disappointed will NOT ever go back the lack of professionalism for the pet's and owner is dispicable

They are so great here. No emergency fees, incredibly capable techs and doctors. They're gentle with my cats, they explain absolutely everything in detail, are patient to answer questions, and follow up after appointments to make sure everything is going okay. I will always take my pets there because I know I can trust them.

I was not able to make an appointment with my regular vet and decided to try a vet closer to home. I was very impressed with the vet and with the options I was given. Prices are lower than I'm used to.

I drive from Salmon Arm, BC. We have two dogs who are under the care of Tri Lake. The front end staff are always helpful and the vets are amazing. I always leave happy and I trust in what the vets say. The staff care and the vets do too. They are there to help and never in a rush. Thank you for being so gentle and caring towards my two fur babies!

Teaghan McDougall

The vets on hand are incredible and compassionate. I know my fur babies are in good hands when they come here! One note of improvement would be for the reception staff to be a little bit more courteous... Not sure if the woman we dealt with was new or just having a bad day..

Teaghan McDougall

VCA is so good with our little kitties. We have never had a bad experience and it's very conveniently located. Thank you to all the vets here. We've had to put a few of our older cats down and the vets are very compassionate.

All the staff at Tri Lake Animal Hospital were amazing. The care and service they provided for my puppy was outstanding. They were definitely more pricey than our regular vet but it was worth every penny as they are highly skilled at what they do.

The vets and staff very polite very helpful very knowledgeable I have nothing but the best of the say about them and I had the best experience so did my pet

Gavin Reardon

Laura McKinley

Friendly staff and amazing, knowledgeable Vets...the best vet clinic in the Okanagan in my opinion.

We had a very tough day with our old dog and the staff was very supportive and kind..

Took excellent care of my guinea pig, and reasonable emergency rates. Great vet!

Being the only emergency vet in the north okanagan, I brought my Saint in from Vernon after calling ahead. They quickly diagnosed her issue, were extremely fast at getting her seen and xrays done (no easy feat with a 180 lb dog). They vet and vet techs were all fabulous to speak to and my girl had a positive experience! Very highly recommend!

Russ Prevett

What a great organization. Late on a Friday afternoon had to call on them to assist with a pet emergency and the more local vets wouldn’t help. Friendly and compassionate service and reasonably priced. Strongly recommend using this service.

Rachelle Moreau

Love this vet. Tried a few before this one as this is a bit of a drive from our house. It feels like they care and prices are reasonable.

I had a pet snake when I was in my 20s. This hospital from the time I walked in and even just booking the appointment was a good experience. The staff were so kind. A very wonderful veterinarian gave me the best advice! I was not experienced with caring for a reptile or snake. I was so worried about something being wrong with him and he was a beautiful older cornsnake. Red black white and yellow. He was gentle and unlikely to attack you. Think Mexican garter snake. She held him the entire time she was giving me SO MUCH advice! What to look for if he actually was to get sick. How he sheds what helps him. She had a wonderful tone of voice. I was feeling better, immediately after getting there. She said, upon picking him up and holding him in her very capable hands 'he's healthy and there's nothing wrong with him. He is a little bit cold.' She told me how to make sure he's warm enough and about his digestion. About the big set of lungs they have. What to use in their territory so they dont sneeze and cough. The internet is where many people who have been so lucky to have an exotic type of pet, look for advice. It is filled with advice on the subject. However. After that visit. I can only say, the internet has a very scary amount of wrong information or just not all of the correct information together to set up your pet's terrarium. The amount of very good and proper information on EVERY aspect of keeping tropical snakes that I received was well worth it to me. I am so glad to have made the right decision and visit! I highly reccomend if you have any kind of reptile for a pet. I would be very happy to take any pet I love and have here! For how much happier than he would have been had I not gone! I was a single mother with a not quite full time job making close to minimum wage. I worked in a cafe. I had NO PROBLEM handing over the money to pay them for my visit. Thankyou!

We had to bring our hedgehog in for emergent exams yesterday, and this animal hospital & all their staff were amazing. They were so accommodating, completely outlined their estimates for recommended tests to be done with lowest to highest cost ranges, and gave us options for what we wanted to do next. Ultimately, it came down to helping our pokey baby cross the rainbow bridge, and they gave us the most compassionate, kind care as we said goodbye to our hedgie. We had three small children with us and they were so patient to allow us to explain things to the kids and let them say goodbye before taking her back, and gave us great information about our choices for after death (at home burial, cremation). Their prices were fair and their service extremely timely and well given. 100% would bring any of our animals here again.

I had to bring my African Senegal Parrot in to see Dr. Linda Kaplan as he was very sick. The first appointment available was not for 10 days, so the receptionist took all of my information and passed it onto Dr. Linda. They immediately called back and said to bring my sick little bird in the very next day and that Dr. Linda, even though she had surgeries booked, would be able to fit him in for a physical. She was very thorough and professional. She suggested a few tests just to make sure that everything was working okay and that nothing was abnormal. These were done and other suggestions were given as to diet, temperature, etc.. She also checked back the next day as well as the following day. I even spoke to her as she was leaving on a flight (at the airport) and she gave me her cell number in case I had any other problems so that I could call her directly and immediately in case any problems arose. My little bird is doing much better now and he is back to being his little mischievous self. Thank you so very much Dr. Linda Kaplan and all of the staff at Tri Lake Animal Hospital. You rock!

Leah K

Awesome caring people work here. They took a little injured wild bird to help after another vet turned me away. You guys rock!!

Gaelen Andrews

I've been to this clinic for over a year and have seen several of the vets. The Kaplan's are smart and thorough vets, but my praise ends there. I found Dr. Gibson very difficult to communicate with, and have little faith in her after I came in because my dogs stomach had become quite bloated within the past 2 hours, and she suggested it could possibly be a tumor. I decided to transfer vets after I called in because my dog was having some trouble breathing, and the only offer for an appointment was for 5 days later.

Samme Toering

Went for a vaccine update and they refused because my dog was too "unhealthy". She has had keratoconjunctivitis for 3 years; she is not unhealthy, she has a condition that we are actively treating. I wanted to get her vaccines up to date because she's going in for a major surgery to try to save her vision. Regardless, they pushed us to buy medications we had already tried to treat her keratoconjunctivitis, which previously had no effect. $200 dollars later, and no vaccine update (the reason for our visit) we finally got our dog back because we agreed to buy a medication (that we had already tried with little efficacy). Soooo thankful she's not going here anymore. Take your dog to a vet that cares.

Took my very own first doggo to Tri Lake when I was a teen. Over 20yrs later and I returned with my first birbo (parrot). I am so happy and grateful to see how the love, knowledge and dare I say talent has grown in to a hub of outstanding animal (incl. hoomans) care and guidance. Thank you Dr. Coldwell and staff :)

Our young dog suffered a partially torn ACL at the end of March and since then we have used the physiotherapy services at Tri Lake, including the underwater treadmill, cold laser and manual physio. Pat and Susie are both so kind and compassionate, and knowledgeable! - our dog has gone from quite disabled to nearly normal activities all with their help. I don't know what we would have done without the services offered at this clinic. HIGHLY recommend.

Knoet 2007

well as everybody else have given it 5 stars too there's no sense to explain my 5 stars. we were there to get our dog spayed. Though the staff has a little trouble with math and counting to 25 weeks it all worked out. a nice service for our (rip) cat was that they came to our house (at a price) to euthanize him. better to cry in private :) good place to go with your pet.

Ralf Slotta

Even you couldn't save my dog ????, Toby, I appreciate all effort you put into it. I know you tried your very best. I just want to say thank you, to all of you, doctor's , nurses and all staff for helping to make his last hours as comfortable as possible . I will recommend you to everyone who is in need of your service. Thank you again and all the best. Ralf

Super friendly and helpful. A special shout out to Dr Coldwell who went above and beyond to make sure our dog was travel worthy for overseas. Thank you!

This is hands down the best vet my wife and I have ever taken our bulldogs to. Responsive, professional, skilled and affordable I would recommend tri-lake to anyone. We would particularly recommend Dr. Coldwell who saved our baby bulldog, Bailey after he ingested a foreign object. With what seemed like bottomless compassion, Dr Coldwell kept us in the loop every step of the way and was quick and accurate with her diagnosis, which saved Bailey's life. Our main regret with moving away from Kelowna is that we could not take Dr. Coldwell with us. Matthew Grant and Alison Havlin - pet parents to Cooper and Bailey the bulldogs.

Donna Wackerbauer

I am grateful for the care my critters have been given. They stepped up to help with the animals from the White Rock Lake fire. I cannot give them enough praise. They are the best!

I had my dog put down by these people. I was assured that they where professional and that the procedure would be painless and comfortable for my dog. The person came out to my vehicle to administer the sedative and told me that she would simply fall asleep in 5 or 10 minutes. 20 minutes later my dog was not yet showing any signs of being on a sedative. I had my wife go back inside to find out if there was a problem. When the receptionist came out she told us that it may take a little longer. At 25 minutes my dog started whimpering, stood up and started wrenching and shaking. She continued to try to throw up for another couple of minutes, crying and shaking the whole time. Finally at 32 minutes after the sedative was administered my dog finally lied down and went to sleep. The "vet" told me she did not know why that would happen because she had given my dog "twice the amount of sedative that it called for a dog her size". Because of the irresponsible actions of this "vet" by giving my 50 pound dog a dose of sedative for a 100 pound dog, too much for my dogs’ body to handle all at once, she got to spend her final moments scared, nauseous and shaking. I had to watch as my best friend and companion of 15 years die terrified and in obvious pain because of Tri Lake Animal Nightmare's unprofessional practice. Please, do not put yourself and your animal through what my dog and I had to go through. Go somewhere that they know what they’re doing. A pathetic excuse for a veterinary clinic

We have a dog who was experiencing hair loss and lethargy. Having visited a few vet clinics in Kamloops, we got a referral to Dr Gortel and sooo glad we did. Within 10 mins into the examination, we had her symptoms narrowed down to two causes. Two days later, we were given a diagnosis that we spent months and many dollars trying to figure out. We are thankful for Dr Gortel's expertise and caring nature. She explained everything and is available when we phone with questions/updates.

The staff here are Amazing! My cat Loki is a trouble cat with quite a few health issues and Dr. Heather Gordon has been a huge help with trying to solve all his issues. She is an amazing veterinarian and I highly recommend her as well as Dr. Jessica Treen, who has also been a big help! Great Veterinary clinic, great staff, and is definitely worth the drive out to Lake Country!

My opinion and absolute waste of money if you are looking for diagnostics about dogs. The very green vet I dealt with had little knowledge about older dogs. She just kept trying to up sell on drugs and tests. I took my dog to a different Vet, one with experience and the results were far different. Tri lake just tries to separate you from your money with no guarantees. Never again will I be fooled into going to this money pit.

In a very tragic, freak accident our German Shepherd DJ was struck by a vehicle in front of our home. The event will forever be remembered by our family, as will Dr. Kaplan and the amazing staff at Tri Lake animal hospital. They miraculously saved my best friend's life, and my family and me especially will be forever grateful. The entire crew truly gives such love to the animals, and even let me spend time with DJ at night. Thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts and especially to Dr. Kaplan, the vet tech Paula - who would text me updates and photos of DJ through the night. My best friend is coming home today, and that is solely the result of the care he received at Tri Lake animal hospital. Colin Clarke Vernon

So deeply thankful for their sincere and kind care for all living creatures, big or small! It is such a wonderful thing to have an exotic and pocket pet specialist within reach! Dr. Linda Kaplan has gone above and beyond for my little ratties, and for that I am forever grateful. I will never go anywhere else, many vets don't look at rats or other pockets/exotics as pets, but this clinic looks at them the same way I do, as family.

Steve Giffen

This Clinic really needs to work on its communication and customer service. When in contact with VCA they always seemed to be busy and seemed like they just wanted to get me off the phone as soon as possible. I was trying to get my dog in for a TPLO surgery since last July with no success. I called them 3 times after my vet referred me to them and each time there was something missing but I didn't know that because they wouldn't call and tell me. Now the referral I guess has expired and I would have to go through to process again. All the while through this process my dog has been in great pain which they obviously could care less about. I would suggest you take your pet else where. I have found another clinic to do the procedure in 3 days. Wish I would have looked around to begin with and saved my dog 8 months of pain.

Lisa Kryzanowski

Super frustrated right now. We drove 40 minutes one way after waiting a month for our appointment. Came early as directed, waited 30 minutes outside, only to find out, AFTER WE CALLED THEM for an update, that we could either leave and reschedule or wait 20 more minutes to "find out" if they could see us today. So that's about an hour and a half of my vehicle running with AC and my time wasted because they weren't prepared for us, not to mention the time preparing to leave. We'll be going somewhere else. This is beyond frustrating. I guess our pet isn't a priority.

Both Drs. Kaplan are excellent, as are all of their staff. Even though I no longer live in the greater Kelowna area, I still bring my dogs to Eliot for their annual check-ups, or for any serious health concerns. Knowledgeable, quiet, empathetic............a most trustworthy vet, always!

Jeff H

They were very caring and understanding in the last moments of my beloved cat.

We have been bringing our pets here for the last 16 or 17 years and have had nothing but the highest esteem to this organization. The work they perform is excellent and the followup is far above what is to be expected. We have recommended them several times and many of our friends take their little guys there also. Can't say enough good.

Pattie

These people care. They are not my primary vet. My 2 year old kitten seized and I freaked. We scooped him up and rushed to the nearest vet. He sadly had passed. I couldn't even talk. We were a wreak. They were so compassionate. They didn't even charge us anything. We got our baby back in a box wrapped lovingly wrapped in a blanket in a box. Simon was a beautiful blue eyed fetching kitty that will be forever missed. Thank you for not price gouging.... Or whatever. You guys were as good or better than I could have asked for in this situation.

Matthew Landry

We tried for three days to get a call back from this place, looking to get our Dog's prescription refilled. Called each day, each day they said they would call back. Try again the next day. Finally they agreed to do so, and it turns out they want 50% more then the last place/time we bought the same pills. We had to buy them because the Dog is in some distress but will never go back.

Raija Lehtonen

I had a recheck of my dog which had dental surgery April 20th by Dr. Coldwell. She excellent job on Nelli. Doctor checked on Thursday that everything was OK and everything was fine. If any one is looking for a doctor for their dog, I highly recommend Dr. Coldwell.

Super helpful with my gecko. Unfortunately he didn’t make it, but I got a personal text message from the vet who looked at him with her condolences. She assured me I did everything I could do for him and that there was nothing I could do. She made me feel so much better.

Had to take my Chinese water dragon in, and I am very impressed with all the staff, especially Dr. Kaplan. It was an emergent situation and I was able to be seen late on a Friday evening. Puff seems to be recovering well, and I would recommend this animal hospital to anyone with reptiles.

Brought our cat in because he wasn't eating after his brother passed away. Vet said she thinks he has a block and needs an x-ray; specifically told the vet at the beginning we couldn't afford another $2,000 bill since we spent that much the previous week for his brother that passed, they all remembered us as we were just there. Vet says she sees a block and suggests surgery, tell her again we cant afford a $2,000 surgery, we opt for overnight fluids and they tell us the blockage hasn't passed by the following morning, we get a new Vet (his vet handed the case to someone new) who wants to do an ultrasound now. Says she wants it because she doesn't see anything on the first x-ray like our first vet did, and she can't get a hold of our first vet to ask her what she saw. Ultrasound shows no blockage; but they can't get him to eat and he has a fever so they want to keep him longer so they can figure out what is wrong. Fast forward 4 days of our cat being in the hospital and we get a call from the vet saying she has no idea what is wrong and it "is just gas I guess" (direct quote) when i ask about his eating she told us that a lot of animals won't eat for the vet and if we couldn't get him to eat at home to bring him back. He immediately ate when we brought him home. Long story short, went into the visit specifically saying we couldn't afford a $2,000 bill. Our bill ended up being around $2,100 because they were looking for a problem that apparently wasn't there. While I understand there was probably more to it than this, and of course there is their side of the story which would show how all of their actions were justified. For us, we went in telling them we had financial limitations and it felt like we were strung along only for them to send him home without any answers and an even bigger bill than what we said we couldn't afford. They will tell you to borrow money from family or to use their 3rd party payment plan (which we were denied for), and when you explain the financial limitation, they have no problem reminding you that you can take your pet and walk away at any time; but that it'll be against the Vets orders and they won't be liable for any deaths. I'm sorry for having to leave a poor review as I know nobody intentionally meant to harm my family; but at the end of the day it felt like I gambled with VCA Canada Tri Lake and lost. Edit: They did contact me the day following their response to tell me they needed more time for their investigation and they asked me if I was fine if they called me on Friday the 21st after it was complete, which I agreed to. On Friday I got a call explaining that they were not prepared to have a discussion with me because they haven't talked to everyone involved and asked again if I was willing to wait until Monday the 24th for them to reach out to me, which I agreed to again. I recieved no call on Monday, I didnt expect a call on Christmas day; but still havent heard from them regarding my experience despite it now being 9 days after I was supposed to get a response. At this point I'm not expecting much, this was the kind of treatment we experienced with our pet, they had a chance to explain their side of the situation to me and it seems that they were unable to break away from the issues that caused me to write my review in the first place.

Absolutely the best vet we have ever been to. Organized friendly staff, very clean and welcoming environment. But more then anything they really care. The love and care they have continuously showed us has been, in a word, AMAZING. We will never take our pets any where else. We are so blessed to have these wonderful vets in our small community.

We had never set foot in this office until our dog's health declined and needed to be put down. On a long weekend. The staff were so kind and caring, gently explained the procedure to our children, assured us she was not in pain, and allowed us plenty of time to cry and be with our girl in a calm and loving environment. I truly cannot say enough good things about how lovely our experience was despite our sadness.

They truly care about my girl and doing everything they can to help her. They call me weekends and evenings just to check in on my poor girl. I have been going here for over 20 years. I have hand nothing but excellent service. These people care, and are extremely sensitive and compassionate. I personally find Dr. Linda kapland to be a reasonable, experienced, compassionate, Dr., with a genuine love and concern for the animals she has in her care. My birds and my cat have had the best care for many years, though my cat and a few of my birds are passed now, they received better care here then at any vet I have ever been at. If you want the best for your companion this is the vet for you.

Staff have always been friendly and helpful, my dog came in with a shattered femer, etc after been run over, Dr Jordan performed surgery in a timely manner after making sure my dog was ready and capable of surgery, after months of rehab and exercise she has almost fully recovered from injuries where most dogs would of had to been out down. They saved my pets life and I would highly recommend them for any services needed. I’ve read reviews on here about people complaining about having to wait on the phone and outside, etc, c’mon people this place is very busy and with a pandemic going on, have some compassion and be proactive about your visit. Best place in the Okanagan for emergencies!

Carol Mullen

Our puppy was just 10 months old when we met Tri Lakes. He had had a high fever (40.6) for over a month and I had given up on the original vet because they wanted to continue giving an antibiotic even though it hadn't worked in over 10 days. We had previously had a Vet in Penticton (George Proudfoot) who had suggested we contact Tri Lakes if there was ever a complex issue with one of our dogs. We took our pup to Tri lakes who reviewed all of the test results, added a few of their own and within 2 days had a diagnosis, and had our pups fever down to normal. We have since had many follow up appointments with a nominal follow up fee, and we think our pup now 18 months old is on the mend. He has a auto immune disorder so we know this will be a fairly long road; but we have faith and totally trust in the care provided by Tri Lakes. When our dog stays overnight, there is someone there all night checking on their vitals, and we can call 24 hours a day for updates. I would highly recommend this vet clinic. They have internists, knowledgable staff and will answer any questions no matter how persistent. Prices are competative.

Happy with the actual procedure and care for my pet but very unhappy with the service and communication. My regular vet referred me to this place to have my pot belly pig spayed. I called to ask how much procedure cost and they quoted me $350 but said i had to wait a few months till she was old enough to be spayed. I called back a few months later to set up an appointment and asked again how much, i was again quoted $350. When i was given the bill of $575, i questioned it and they said, yes the spay is $354.52 but the Anaesthetic was $85, fluids $39.38, pain management $12.75 and pain meds to take home $55.93 and tax of $27.39. I have had animals my entire 41 years of life and have dealt with many vets, i understand when you have an animal spayed or neutered the vets will always offer extras like a tattoo or microchip for additional fees but those costs are optional, anaesthetic, fluids, pain meds are not options for spaying a pig, its necessary. I paid the bill in full, but what if i only had $350 on me to pay?? I dropped my pig off at 9am and was told she would be in surgery in the afternoon and someone would call me when she was out. They were wanting to keep her overnight, I asked what time the next day i should plan to pick her up and the girl at the front desk said, i would receive a call in the morning after she had been assessed to determine this pick up time, but when i finally got a call at 6:30pm after her surgery the girl said to come pick her up at 9:30am the next morning (what happened to assessing her in the morning and determining pick up time then??) At 3:30pm I called and asked for an update, I was told she was currently in surgery and someone would call me soon. By 6pm i was so stressed as i still hadn't heard from anyone, i called again, to be told, she was in surgery, i asked if someone could please call me when she was out, and half hour later someone finally did at 6:30pm. She said she had just come out of surgery and everything went well. So I'm questioning this.... why was my pig in surgery for 3 hours?? A spay does not take 3 hrs! I asked for the hospital manager but was told she was not available to talk, so i asked the girl to pls leave a message with her to call me, I confirmed my number with her but have never received a call. Very poor customer service on the managers behalf. My suggestion, quote pricing for the entire procedure (its only fair to us, the ones paying the bill, to know all costs so we can budget appropriately) And please have a staff meeting and have ALL who is working there on the same page so the communication to us paying customers is consistent and doesn't cause unnecessary confusion or stress while we already are stressed for our pets.

Zene Reeves

I am so grateful I decided to take my little one to Tri Lake for an emergency visit. Everyone went above and beyond for us from the front desk staff (Jake, Chey) to the Vet tech’s (Christy, Brianna) and all the Dr’s (Dr. Coldwell, Dr. Gortel). If you want kindness, compassion and the best care don’t go to any other emerg hospital.

Amazing staff & Dr. Bhandal is super knowledgeable and friendly. Our dog will be seeing him for his surgery! I am so comfortable about the care he will get at this animal hospital! Will recommend

Very unimpressed, my cat had a hole in her stomach where she had licked open her stitches. We were turned away and told bring her back to clinic 2 hours away that did the original operation or they can schedule us in next week. Not only will i never bring any of my pets here but i will never recommend this place to anyone. I thought animal hospitals were suppose to handle emergency's.

Terrible experience. Brought my sick puking dog in to see Dr. Coldwell under emergency, not only did we have to wait 45 mins to even see her, but when she finally did come in, she would ask me questions and cut me off every time, then she looked at my dog for 1 min and then gave me an estimate for $1450 right off the bat for every test she could think of. I told her I could not afford all that unless my dog 100% needed that and I would rather do process of elimination and do one test at a time and check results instead of being charged for 15 tests my dog might not need. She had no idea what was wrong with my dog and said that she thought my dog should spend the night there on fluids and go home in the morning and see if she is any better WITHOUT any type of diagnosis or get sent home with an anti nausea shot but didn't even bother to explain why she thought that treating my dog instead of diagnosing the real problem was a good idea. She proceeded to ask me if I could take out a loan or borrow money off a family member, she was clearly very frustrated with her job and told me she hates dealing with finances and didn't want to be stuck working late so I had to hurry up and make a decision. My mom ended up coming in to talk to Dr. Coldwell and she was rude and short with her too. I felt un easy about leaving my dog here overnight. Long story short, my dog is still sick but we were able to take her home last night, our bill came to $800 for blood work and overnight stay with fluids with no diagnosis and I will have to take her to another vet.

Dr. Kaplan was able to give us very detailed nutritional information for our rare birds. Carefully examined the bird we we're worried about, taking her time to check everything and listened attentively to our input.

I’ve heard very good things about this place and my first experience was amazing...but my second experience wasn’t good at all. Hoping for some consistency.

Saved our Dog Milo from a herniated diaphragm. So thankful for the very thorough explanation of the surgery and it’s risks as well as the clear after care instructions sent home. So thankful!

An amazing hospital with very caring staff. They worked hard to help my furbaby, and when that didn't work, they were very supportive in my time of grief.

I would never recommend someone to go here- there are other options and I would encourage you to use them! Fairview is hands down better and less expensive.

Amazingly helpful staff, vets all sound very confident in their knowledge. My own cat made a full recovery from a massive bladder stone the staff at VCA surgically removed!
