The quality of care is outstanding. I can't possibly recommend them strongly enough - professionalism and passion are clearly evident in everyone who works here.
Very cordial staff
I brought my hamster Penelope here for the first time when she developed severe health problems. Dr. Graveling was the sweetest doctor I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with and treated Penelope like she was her own fur-baby. Her expertise and bedside manner was highly appreciated. All of the vet technicians I dealt with were so very sweet and understanding of my situation but Jennifer went above and beyond for me. Jennifer listened to me sob on the phone for 15 minutes while we spoke about end of life services and she gently explained the process and the procedure. Jennifer also dealt with me calling 3 times in one day for reassurance that everything was fine and for her I am forever grateful. Dr. Graveling is also the most passionate doctor I’ve ever met as well, on two different days she was able to help me and prescribe Penelope new medication even though it was her day off. I love this vet hospital and the staff have kept me sane during this difficult time. To them I am forever thankful for treating me and my Penelope like we were family. They deal with kindness, love, and compassion and don’t treat their clients like strangers. I love everyone here and I wish I could do more to say thank you!
Skilled, knowledgeable and caring veterinarians and techs, backed up by a staff with excellent customer service. We have been several times, and they have been consistently excellent each time
We've taken our 4 month old puppy to this clinic three times now, and every time we have had excellent service. The staff are very welcoming, and you can tell there is a real love for animals here. We've never had issues with them trying to up-sell us on anything, and they have done an excellent job of easing our minds as new dog owners. 100% would recommend.
Bet veterinary hospital by far! A little pricey but so worth it! The staff treats our fur babies like their own, so loving, friendly and caring! Thanks for taking such good care of our little Ruby when she was at her lowest and almost lost her!!
Our cat has a really hard time at the vet - he gets scared and goes fangs and claws out when he feels like is not totally in control of what's happening to his body. The staff at South Burnaby Veterinary (every single one of them) are kind, caring and understanding of the added stress this can bring to a vet visit and do everything in their power to take care of him and alleviate our embarrassment and worry. In addition to their exceptional empathy and incredible professionalism, they are also very skilled. Dr. St Clair has provided us with diagnostics and treatment that go above and beyond regular care, and both she and Jennifer have taken extra measures to listen to our concerns, explain processes, and set extremely clear expectations. The patience, kindness and level of care that we experience at this vet clinic makes them the only provider we will consider. Thank you to the whole team for being so consistently wonderful.
Everyone is very polite and kind. However I am made to feel that I am being unreasonable when I request a same-day call back from any one of the vets regarding a potential emergency. My dog had torn off his pad, and I couldn't get into the vet, and the front staff repeated to me that "one of the doctors may or may not call you back." I was shocked. "May or may not?" Wow...this is a management issue and it is highly insulting. We brought our animals here for 2 years, knowing we were paying a bit more, but we expected great service. This last call-back issue was the last straw. We have moved on to a vet in New Westminster. Sad - because we like our animals to get used to a vet. Oh well.
Amazing place and the staff really care.
They are very kind and patient with our cranky cat, and have been super accommodating with having to change appointments last minute. Definitely happy with this vet hospital.
Nice and friendly staff here. They offer in-house blood tests and xrays and while you wait here you can go next door to Cristas 9 for some awesome coffee. Me likey.
I've been with another veterinary clinic for the last 3 years and in all that time they had no idea who I was, this clinic is different. I find the doctors knowledgeable and straight forward, the staff is kind and supportive. I took my dog in for a visit because I thought there was something very serious wrong with him, and after he had been very sick. One of the ladies asked if I was ok with her taking him to the back where the doctor was for a quick look because the Dr. was pretty sure what it was. Sure enough it was exactly what the Dr. thought and they sent me on my way...no charge. I think that vet visits are generally $$$ but I have never gotten the feeling from these Drs. that that is why they are in this business. I would highly recommend this clinic.
amazing place and amazing staff 5 stars without doubt
I love this place. Vets are so thorough and truly love animals. Reception staff is extremely helpful and always friendly. Best vet clinic I've ever been to.
The people are amazing and honest
I have been visiting different vets with my cat with a GI problem for a while now and in this clinic they were been not only very professional and helpful solving his problem, they also didn't make tests that they weren't absolutely sure my cat needed. Surprisingly they care more about the animals than the money. They are not cheap, they are not either expensive, their prices are in the average range but you can trust that they are not going to do things that your pet don't need just to make some extra money.
They were very compasionate and professional during a very sad and stressful time for us. I respect them for their work and recommend them to anyone looking for a good vet with doctors who got into it because they actually care about animals and not because it looked like easy money.
They are so friendly, my pup had 4 teeth pulled and she's STILL ecstatic to see them. Prices are good, they try to find you the best options. Really great all around.
These guys are our go-to vet.
The best vet in Metro Vancouver. They are trustworthy and so kind. You can tell they truly care about your pets and wont try to swindle you into procedures that are unnecessary.
I've been meaning to write this review for a long time, but it was painful to do so, so I put it off. My previous vet clinic closed suddenly and without notice, at a time when my elderly cat Leo, was under their care and very ill. Suddenly with no place to turn, I brought Leo to South Burnaby on a day when he was in great distress. I was so impressed with the care and compassion that the South Burnaby staff (Dr Ford) had for Leo, despite I was a brand new client who came in on a moment's notice. It was not a happy ending as Leo had to be euthanized, but there was no pressure from staff and they let me make the decision in peace and with compassion. There was a special room set aside for this final task which is very calming and professional -- not like a hospital setting at all. I am very grateful for the care the staff showed at a very difficult time.
Hard to find people who take care if pocket pets, they take great care of my Guinea pigs
Great service
Seriously these ladies go above and beyond and are so lovely ???? give you all the knowledge about being new dog owners and were so gentle with our Rocco ❤️ they spent so much time with us it was a welcoming place, very neat and clean. I will definitely keep brining my dog here!
Great staff, and my Snoopy recovered after only one week after having tattoo and neutering. Very clean and comfortable.
Amazing service! They are always accommodating and patient. They answer any questions that you have.
Excellent vets and staff, they genuinely care about their pet patients, and are very easy to understand about the recommended care. I've never felt them be pushy about buying into more expensive treatments, as they've always explained the available options as costs up front. Their baseline visit fee is a bit steeper than other places, but it's worth it. No plans to ever go elsewhere for my dog's health management!
Absolutely the best place for your four-legged family members. They genuinely care about you and your fur babies with all their hearts. I could never say enough good things about them.
All the staff at the South Burnaby Vetrinary Hospital are thoughtful and caring animal lovers who have helped us through the toughest times with our elderly cats.
All the people here are amazing. They were kind and knowledge able. They helped us though a difficult time with out cat. Very professional. Would recommend them to anyone.
These guys are great. They took her of our pug for years and always went the extra mile with her. And even though we lived on the north shore we still went all the way out there. Unfortunately our pug passed a while back and they helped us with everything she needed and made the experience as easy as it could get giving the situation
South Burnaby is and always will be the Best ever!!!???????????? I can never begin to Thank Dr Michelle Kates???? in Nov 2004 , we first met when my 3.5 month old ball of fluff Tiggy a Persian kitten went for his 1st visit . When Dr Kates met my boy she called him Mr Tigg's ???? Hyper Trophic Cardiomyopathy/Asthma. I had 11 fabulous years with my boy.
Compassionate & highly qualified support staff, experienced & caring veterinarians -- I wouldn't take my dogs anywhere else. Our senior dog has had dental work here & we were very impressed with the quality of their work & the superior level of care provided. Would highly recommend to anyone seeking veterinary services for their pet.
Extremely friendly and caring service. I wish my doctor cared as much about me as they care about my cat!
Been dog sitting Taotao for almost 3 months, know nothing about dog care, she had an ear infection, I felt lucky that I choosed this vet, the staff are very nice and informative, they had done great job cleaning the ear, making sure there is no bacteria in the ear, they also provided easy-to-remember instructions about how I should use the medicine. Since this is the first time I visit this vet, there is a welcome package which was nice. I can tell this vet is great from Taotao.
Amazing and knowledgeable staff! Our dog is very anxious and everyone is so kind and patient with her. So grateful to have found this gem of a vet!
My friends have had great service here. Never over charging or doing surgical procedures that were not needed. Thinking of switching vets. They are not all about making money. They care about people's financial situations and do not take advantage of people's love for their pets like some others do.
This hospital was amazing when my doggie needed to be in another place, over the rainbow bridge. They were incredibly compassionate and so so so very empathetic ❣️ and when I took my fur baby cat there, they had the same compassion. I am guilty that I took my last fur baby to a terrible place that tried to tell me that my fur baby was not dead????????????. She clearly died in my arms and I was very distraught telling them this and they kept on pushing for an examination????. Nonetheless, you South Burnaby veterinary are amazing and thank you????❤️❣️????????

Friendly and accommodating staff. Extremely thorough and personable veterinary clinic. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
The only vet that I trust with my dogs. We had a potential emergency (dog chewed a plug and burned herself), showed up with no appointment, were seen right away. Vet agreed it looked like a burn, gave us antibiotics and mouth rinse, and it only cost $180. Any other vet i've been to would demand bloodwork and mouth swabs and a bunch of other expensive testing, but South Burnaby Vet has always been really reasonable and you know it isn't about the money. They have that touch with animals and you can really tell they care.
Careful evaluation and then phone follow up phone calls.
Just called to see if they could fit in my dog for an appointment today: his paws are infected underneath and he is not eating and drinking and the receptionist (Monica I think?) said the next available appointment was on Monday- 3 days away. When I asked if she could possibly fit me in today, she said no but “good luck!” Then, I called the Eagle Ridge pet and bird hospital in Coquitlam and they immediately got me in today. Thanks for showing me what kind of vet clinic you are from the beginning so I don’t waste my time. Have a great day!
While the staff is very friendly, service is good, and the doctors qualified, I can't help but feel overcharged every. single. time. I go here. They give me zero information about whether the prescriptions are absolutely necessary, or just a recommendation. Last time I went, they charged me $85 for a medication that my dog didn't even need, and when I called to complain they then refused to offer a refund or even a future credit against a consultation. Their consultation fees are absolutely ridiculous, and I'm disappointed to read other reviews with similar experiences. I may need to look into a different vet hospital because I cannot sustain these unbelievable and unnecessary charges.
I really luve my babe Bella...she is a delicate unique not like the common name she is a delicate princess...she goes 2x 's a year for her gently done haircut!!! U ask for Jennifer & she will help u on every Sunday...when she is willing to give up a day from her new born...the 8 hours that she works she gives it a 110% out of 100...I trust Jennifer as she gives my little princess Bella a few breaks & she doesn't add her tips to her price...so 20 - 25 % is reasonable...Jennifer has been schooled speciffically gone to school for giving ur babe a gentle haircut...breaks are givin to urs special 1!!! Trust me!!! If I had the name of the other place I went to u'd hear how badly this place was...so call this phone number & be ready for 6 Sunday's down the hill but its worth the wait...ur babe will be pampered gently kindly & luvingly...truzt my opinion...u know another place for haircut - oh I forgot I've taken Bella & Mya my other doggie to get their toe nails done clipped & they are ready for anything!!! So take ur pet for clippings haircuts or vet work they are all kind u realize there are humans at this work place & u will see how great ur buddy has been taken care of!!! Take care pemeten...
Great personal care for your four legged love one.
Do you every get that queezy new-pet owner feeling when you aren't 100% sure what is going on, or what is about to happen? That feeling goes away here! Dr. Gravling and vet tech (Madeline?) put me at ease. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and they treated my bunnies with love. This is especially important when your animal is part of the family! Thank you.
I called around to get my bunnies nails clipped and they do it at a reasonable rate. Always knowledgeable and caring.
Misdiagnosed.Tried to overcharge
Bar none, the friendliest and most caring vet that I've been to. Consistently a great experience, especially during covid. During this time, other vets will ask to remove collars/harnesses/leash and drag your pet in with a rope while they cough and choke. Not here. The only reason not to come here is if they dont offer the service.
They always take great care of Bailey and Daisy
Dr. Ford is the best! The whole team is kind and accommodating.
I'll tell you what, those office assistants, especially Emilee, are amazing at what they do. The doc's are fantastic human beings, and the rest are amazing too. They do very good work here. The prices are fair and no one looks at me funny when I empty the bowl of candies into my pockets.
Very friendly
These guys are our go-to vet.
Awesome as always. Friendly staff and caring Dr's.
Incredible service and care
The best of care but hard on the wallet!
These ladies are the best! I have taken my furry family members there for over 2 decades and won't go anywhere else.
Excellent customer and pet service, quick and reliable. Prices for meds and service appear standard for veterinary services around town. Got our dog back to being happy and barky again.
It was a really good experience here! They are very knowledgeable and kind. I would recommend this place fully.
Made some serious mistakes during a small check up leading to my dog ending up on life support for days. Luckily, he survived. They owned up to their mistakes and paid for the extra costs, but it doesn’t really change the fact that now he has lifetime of issues because of their mistake.
We adopted a dog from a rescue organization ... the dog was not heathy Oreos Doctor and the staff took super good care of him what a improvement in one week .. Our Family is so grateful
Friendly staff
We've been taking our two cats here for five years, and are happy to give then a top rating. The staff are super friendly, the space is well designed, and the care is excellent. They also follow up with us after every appointment, to ensure that things are going smoothly, which we appreciate. Just a great team!
They helped my dog with medicine. He feels better soon.
I would recommend South Burnaby Veterinary Hospital to anyone! Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. I take both of my dogs here for regular checkups and unexpected concerns. I was worried about taking my highly anxious heeler here, as she does not do well with strangers, but the staff has made the experience for her very comfortable. Extremely caring staff who just want the best for your pets!
I have always had a great experience taking my dog. The front staff are friendly and the vet takes her time to listen to my concerns regarding my dogs health.
Friendly people. They know what they are doing. Take my 2 cats and dog there.
I love the vets and vet assistance at South Burnaby Vet! They’re so kind and gentle with our pets.
The vets and vet techs treat your pet as if they were family. I trust this place to care for my animals.
I moved out here from Toronto and put a few vets (and clinics) through an interview process before giving the position to Dr Kates at SB. She is, legitimately, THE best vet for my pack. I trust her recommendations for their care 100%. The vet techs are always super friendly, as is the front end staff. All around a great crew.
Always very personal service and the professionals there really care about pets.
Friendly and supportive vet service. Our family have 4 pets that we bring here!
Very friendly staff and knowledgeable vets and techs
5 DMV in 3 years We've been taking our dog here since 2013. People are great and they gave our dog good care. It is disappointment that it's become a 7 day a week production line vet service though. From 2013 to 2019 our dog was seen by 3 DMV then from 2019 to 2021 our dog has been seen by 5 DMV. Recommendations: 1.) Only let them book appointments with the same 1 or 2 DMV. 2.) Get a copy of the "Patient History Summary" sent to you after each visit and phone conversation. They use the summary to tell each other what is going on with you as well as your pet.
Great care and friendly staff!
very good place
Awesome vets and caring staff!!
Awesome Vet with nice staff!
Always take good care of our fur baby. ❤
Very well recieved
The staff was wonderful and the DR was caring, patient, and really listened to us
My family used to take our dog to the old location on Kingsway, and they were always great. I started taking my cat here when I moved back to the city, and everyone is very sweet and kind.
It was a real comfort to me that my very sick Smokey the cat. Was in such good hands. Sadly, Smokey didn't come home with me. He was that sick. The staff were very helpful. I got to sit with him till the end. I left in tears. But was also happy that they had made it a good farewell to my pal Smokey. Thanks South Burnaby Animal Hospital. Randy Deboer
I want to thank all the staff, for being such great people, but especially Dr. Michelle Cates, and Sheri for helping me say goodbye to Murray. We have been going there for about 9 years. The staff have always been very welcoming... and I would recommend this vet to anyone looking for compassion for there animals.
Dr Ford seems to definitely know what he is doing and the staff are great with "dumb" questions that I have ????. Dr Ford also demonstrates that he is keeping up with new veterinary studies and practices. If you can get an appointment here do it.
Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. They present to you all the options and let you know what are priorities and what can wait.
I highly recommend this place. The staff and service are excellent, and they take the time to really get to know your pets needs. The only downside is that they are pricey, but it makes sense since they are a step above others.
The best, hands down. Quality and compassionate care for our furry friends.
Excellent staff & service. I had an emergency with my cat & they saved him. My cat & I both grateful for their help.
The veterinarians and technicians here are all amazing. When my cat was sick they did everything they could to make her feel better. The service is always polite and respectful as they take the time to acknowledge the people and the situation as individuals. I highly recommend South Burnaby!
I brought my cat to do annual shot . they charge me $75 for consultation fee . ( I just "chat "with the vet how is my cat and he use spectroscopy to hear his lung ... ) so if I know that will cost that much money I would not let him did it . I check other vet clinic they will charge $0-30 depend on how many shot your animal will take . I also bought the cat the "revolution " one kind of flea plus some diseases prevent drop . they sell it for $110 , but other vet clinic only charge $87. totally overcharge .. they are very friend and the clinic is very clean and nice .but if you just want get the annual shot or buy some flea prevention drop ... it is not worth it .
Staff is always friendly and the vets always knowedgable.
Kind caring service.
Awesome vets and staff. They really care about the animals and their owners.
Friendly staff, and the vets are informative, patient, and tender with the pets
Good cat grooming experience. However I was sold a 6 month supply of flea advantage for $100 which was not what I needed at the time and I was unable to return it even though it had been untouched. Will be seeking grooming services elsewhere in the future.
Doctors, vet techs, and reception are all pleasant and helpful.
Always had a great experience whenever I had to bring one of my pets here
Been bringing my dog here for 8 years, I always get top notch service and care. All the employees are animal lovers and ensure that my dogs (and mine!) minds are at ease. The price is a bit higher than other clinics, but you get what you pay for. Highly recommend this vet!
Good Service and professional vets
They take excellent care of your pet. "State of the heart care." I choose to come here, yes there are cheaper places to go, but it's your fur baby.
Took my bothers cat there to have nails cut real clean and they are so nice there.
I was happy with the service here. The assistants were very kind and told me my cat was unusually well-behaved, which I'm sure they say to everyone but made me feel like a very proud kitty-mama.
We've had wonderful experiences with South Burnaby Vet, the staff all seem to love their jobs, and have all shown a great deal of care towards us and our dog. While they can be pricey, they are primarily concerned with making sure that our dog was happy and healthy, and they gave us many options to achieve that. We really appreciate how knowledgeable and informative all the staff are. While we never look forward to a trip to the vet, we have always had good experiences here.
Best vets in the area for a good 15 years. We changed vets 10 years ago due to an illness my kitten had and my previous vet wanted to try the most expensive tests before even giving a round of antibiotics. I understand the danger of prescribing antibiotics if unneeded, but when all signs point to an Upper Respiratory Infection, it should be common knowledge to try. Anyways, the vets at South Burnaby Vets warned that it may not cure him, but they understand the financial aspect of an owner. Still willing to help their cat, but unable to afford CAT scans, ultrasounds, and invasive biopsies if unnecessary. The antibiotics fixed his sneezing fits and they have shown great care and love for my pets since. They even came to my home to put down my 22 year old cat a few months ago. They understand the family aspect of pets. They do not treat them as animals, but as part of our family instead. We would highly recommend them, even though they are a bit more per visit, the quality of care far surpasses the cheapo vets I've been to or heard about.
We have lived in the area for a long time and have tested most of the vets in the area; SB veterinary is the best in town on all fronts: service, price and atmosphere.
These guys are the best! They are always helpful, and you can tell they really love animals. They call to follow up after a visit or check-in to see how animals are doing if you haven't been in a while. They answer emails and messages in a timely manner. A friendly, professional, empathetic team who goes above and beyond.
Great people that love the animals and do amazing things.
To be honest, i am not impressed by the first vet experience at this hospital at all. I took my puppy to this hospital for the first time for vaccination. Waited about 20 min past my appointment time. The vet seemed to be in a rush, when i asked about the diet question, she said she had another appointment soon and let me discuss with the technician. The technician provided a bunch of insurance leaflets and the materials of the kibbles brand and shampoo products that they carry. It feels more like up sell. My friend's vet in other hospital discussed many topics during their vaccination appointment like daily teeth brush, their puppy's diet etc. I didn't get any useful advice other than had the vaccination done, and two folders of leaflets. I don't think it worth the $84 consultation fee. I decided to try other vet hospital next time.
Amazing and knowledgeable staff! Our dog is very anxious and everyone is so kind and patient with her. So grateful to have found this gem of a vet!
The best and most caring staff! Our pup Chloe is always taken care of and we receive honest and direct information at all times.
My beloved cat Bitsy was taken care by South Burnaby Vet hospital. Their passion and professionalism is the best veterinary among the lower mainland. They have walked through the last two years of Bitsy and gave her the best possible care.
Veterinarians are very caring and truly care about your pets. My cats are in good hands!
After read all the positive feedback online, I decided to switch the vet and book my kitten’s Neuter Surgery with this place. I got contacted by them the next day after completing all the online information. The girl on the other side of the phone told me that I need to book a consultation before surgery so they can get to know my cat better. Although this was not anticipated, but I mean, fine, as long as my kitten gets better service and care, I don’t mind paying a bit extra. I told the girl that my cat is very timid, he can be very nervous and under high stress while travelling to the clinic, so I’d like to cut the # of trips we visit the clinic. Since he’s going to receive his last vaccine with the current vet on Nov 16th, and planning to have the neuter surgery with South Burnaby on December 7th, if I book a consultation in between, that’s 3 trips within less than 4 weeks. The kitten will go crazy and under great stress. I asked if the consultation is mandatory, and if I could have the consultation on the same day when he gets his neuter surgery. The answer was: YES, consultation is MANDATORY, and NO, you cannot have the consultation and surgery on the same day! Okay, then I waited for her to perhaps give me other options or suggestions, but no response from the other side of the phone…after 5 seconds of dead air I told her I’ll call back another day (which I won’t). I don’t know….maybe booking mandatory consultation with new clients is some sort of “unspoken rule” of the industry, but being so inflexible is not the best practice to run a business. The impression I had from this initial phone call was: This place doesn’t care about you and your pet; stick to the rule of making $$$ from consultation with new clients is their first priority. Well, guess I’ll keep searching for a new vet, and good luck to myself.
Have had the best experiences here with every staff member. They all care so much and make it much easier even in difficult times. Would definitely recommend them to anyone!
Dr Ford is a good Vet
Awesome team that genuinely cares about the animals they are helping
I cannot recommend this vet clinic enough. Everyone at South Burnaby is wonderful. My boyfriend brought our dog here from weeks old until his last day. Dr. Andrew Ford became our dog's vet last fall when he was brought in for seizures, which turned out after a referral to be inoperable brain cancer in our 7 year old Boxer. Dr. Ford went above and beyond the call of duty, took the time to explain things, answered every question we had and checked in on us once in a while, while we went through the toughest 3 months with our puppy. Dr. Ford is caring, easy going, well versed, knowledgeable and supportive. He was lovely to deal with through such a demanding and emotional time in our lives. Thank you, Dr. Ford, and everyone who cared for Taz. We will always be grateful and remember the highest quality of care you gave. We'll see you again, one day.
We had 2 cats there over their 17 yr life span and all the Vets and staff have been so professional and caring even when we were in a desperate situation with them being sick. The atmosphere is great for all pets and very clean. It's nice to see everyone with smiles when you go there and we strongly recommend you taking your pet there.
SB Vet clinic was our vet for 8 years--as a result of moving we have had to change vets--we can only hope that our dog receives that same treatment at the new vet as he did with SB. During his visits--some of a very serious nature--he was always treated with the best of care and it was obvious that the staff cared about the animals in their care.
Your furry friends are in good care with the team at South Burnaby. Impeccable customer service, clean and professional facilities. The clinic runs on the pricier side and I find with each visit they always seem to recommend running tests/blood panels which means shelling out a decent amount of coin, but it all comes from a place of genuine care. Now if only my family doctor was this friendly! Highly recommended.
I cannot recommend South Burnaby Vet enough. We have been taking our pets, both cats and dogs, here for over 20 years and are always so impressed with the knowledgeable staff, quality of care and commitment to our animals. Recently we had to bring one of our dogs to another vet for an emergency procedure as we were out of town and not able to get into South Burnaby that day and the following day South Burnaby called to check in on her and ensure everything went well. I have so much trust in them and would never go anywhere else.
Treated dog well
staff are friendly and vets are nice!
Very caring for your dog
All the staff are so knowledgeable, and caring. Their hours are very convenient and parking is right there.
Staff are phenomenal. We adopted a feral cat that has PTSD from a raccoon attack ???? and they are the only ones that can handle her safely and get it done. She shreds the rest of us! Would highly recommend them to anyone!!
Dr. Ford and all the staff we dealt with were extremely gracious and helpful. They called and followed-up the next day to check how our puppy Cora was doing. Would highly recommend this Veterinary hospital to anyone.
Always the best patient care and state of the art medical treatment with an inhouse lab
Very friendly staff, all take the time to answer any questions and seem to enjoy their work.
It’s hard to find a great vet you trust but I’ve had nothing but good experiences here. The reception is very friendly and accommodating with scheduling urgent appointments. The vet techs and vets are very knowledgeable and professional and I love that they continue to follow up afterwards to make sure your pet is doing well. They do an amazing job and truly care.
During our emergency everyone was helpful, personable, dependable and respectful. They took my calls and called to check in. If money wasn't a concern they would be my number 1 choice. Thank you for your help ????!
Best Pet Care and very Affordable
I have been going to this vet since the 90’s and in the past 2 years have noticed a huge decline. They went through so many staff. A new vet and then another new vet. My cat was passed around like a rag doll. They say they study the file but failed my sweet baby horribly. After spending thousands of dollars and asking specific questions it was more than obvious that they did not study her file. I had to put my sweet baby down on December 23rd. It was holiday staff and it was cold and pouring rain outside. They made us wait outside for over half an hour and then said they are ready for her check up. Thank goodness my friend was with me for moral support as I was speechless. They said this is the procedure and that they have to make sure I am morally making the right decision. My friend was horrified. She had just put her cat down 2 weeks beforehand and said that this is so wrong in so many ways. What should have been a comforting experience was worse than any nightmare I have ever experienced. Now they have lost me as a client as well as my friend ( who has 2 cats now) as she noticed the same changes as me with the revolving door of staff. Another friend of ours has also decided to leave due to all the changes and she says that often they have done double tests which were not necessary. Please take this to heart as I don’t wish this kind of treatment on anyone. My fur babies come first and therefore I say goodbye and good luck to anyone that goes there.
Staff is always friendly, vets are great! Beautiful office as well. They have always taken care of our Pippa.
Very professional and friendly
Excellent care
Best vet I have been to. They handled my cats so gently even though one is a bit of a tiger.
I often come to the place to get pet supplies like flea medicine and cat food. The woman with long dark hair was serving me and gave very basic service, with not a lot of extra counter courtesy. I said ‘Thank you’ and didn’t hear anything back. Seems customers like me don’t feel valued anymore. She said she will go check in back to see if she had the flea medicine as may be out. Quite a damper and not necessary. If out of stock, then tell me at the time not before you know!!! It was in stock and wasn’t necessarily to put customer at unease.
I don't have a doubt that the vets from South Burnaby Hospital can take care of my pet, but they overcharge like crazy and every little thing costs money... In my case, when I called and scheduled vaccinations for my dog, warning that I don't need anything else... they still put $80 consultation fee (which never happened and I never wanted it) in my account and other minor things, which I never asked... They do it without asking your permission and then it's kinda late to fix, because it's done... I really don't like this attitude... I want fair service.. I am self employed myself and I never treat my clients this way, as I prefer to have less profit, but at least my conscience is clean and I know that I always consider my client s needs.
Best vet in the city
Nice people, very gentle and good with nervous pets. Prices are a little on the high side.
My cat has been here about ten times. I have had nothing but positive experiences here. I don't feel they are particularly overpriced, compared to other vets. Every vet I have dealt with has been extremely thorough, careful, and very considerate towards our cat. I can't remember the names of each vet I've dealt with, but Dr. Carter is one of them. There was also a second female vet. Both of those were highly knowledgeable, friendly, and very insightful, and didn't cut any corners. They clearly care very strongly and have a genuine love for the animals, and are very compassionate. The staff are very accommodating and friendly. They are busy, and you just have to deal with that sometimes, because they can't attend to absolutely everyone. They also have an in-house blood testing lab for some blood tests. I'm trying to be objective, but I can't really think of anything negative to say. I understand that vet bills can add up, but I am happy to get the best care that I can for my cat. They basically saved my cat's life when he had an undetected medical issue that came up out of the blue suddenly.
Great people, true animal lovers
To make a long story short, this place is phenomenal. They have taken care of our bulldog for the last 10 years, and most recently, Dr Stean pretty much saved his life when another hospital told us that our dog had cancer and would die soon. Even though the initial tests looked bad, she showed genuine care and compassion, and gave us realistic ( yet costly ) options for us to look at before making the difficult decision to euthanize. She didn't give up on our dog, which helped us follow our gut and get the extra attention he needed to at least give us the peace of mind we would need to put him down. Turns out it was a good idea, he didn't have cancer! Thank you Dr Stean for saving our dogs life. And thank you to the rest of the staff at SBVH over the years who have always been fantastic!
Helped our kitty to get well
Fantastic place they really seem to care about your pets Update, July 6th/19 They go far beyond other places, we are having flea problems and they printed some literature to help us try and control them as well as pamplets, none of which was asked for, but very appreciated
Great staff
Good doctors that always try to make it more affordable for me, a young and low-income individual. My dog loves going there so much, she gets so excited when we pull into the parking lot.

They took great care with my elderly cat. Jenn truly is a cat whisperer when it came to grooming him. The ladies at the front desk were caring and helpful. This was my first time there.
We visited this place with our dog because of an important and urgent health issue. We didn't have any appointment, but they were able to provide a late spot. Our dog was handled very carefully and the vet tried to find the best option for us. The staff was really helpful. We have our dog for 10 years and visited several vets, but I've never found this good service. Based on my experience, I really recommend this place.
Great service
Our dog was attacked by a coyote and we took him here to he cremated it was extremely difficult time for our family. The staff here were very understanding they sent us a very thoughtful card later with there condolences for our loss. Really appreciate the staff here definitely would recommend this hospital.
the best care you could ever hope for...everyone is wonderful.. i have been coming here for 18 years and can't imagine ever having to take my little dog anywhere else..
Great customer service, very caring staff
The vet asked to do lots of tests which are not need (I talked to other vets). she even wanna give a 11month puppy do kidney test! Unbelievable! All about money. I talk with the vet about 10min, nothing else, and cost me $75!
Excellent staff and care for pets. I can genuinely see that they care for the animal’s well-being.
We 1st came to them years ago when we lived in Burnaby. They are so wonderful, professional, compassionate and kind! Even now, living in Vancouver- they are Still the only veterinary clinic will will ever go to! They also have a little shop that sells various quality pet foods and supplies. Accessibile parking and entrance ( a small parking lot). I can't recommend them enough!!
