We had our lovely little girl Lilly there 2 days ago to be spayed. The complex we live in demands it, I was quite against it. on day 2 she is back to her old self, We have not even had to keep her cone on she could care less about the stitches.

I don't recommend. I had gone there asking for checking my dog's gum because I had found there was grass between his teeth and gum, and I was afraid that I had not removed the grass out totally. Then the doctor recommended me to do the dental clean even he had dental done 8 months ago in Vancouver. I just followed what the doctor said because I thought a doctors should know what is good for my dog. It turned to remove 3 his teeth. After the surgery, my dog suffered a lot due to vomiting, couldn't take any oral medication, food and water. I had to keep taking him back for injection. Finally, he started to eat, however, he pooped blood. Then, I had to keep taking him back to get more injection. Spend a lot of money, after one and half month, serious gingival swelling, worse than before. I mean after the dental cleaning the gum became worse.

We've received great care for our two cats here. The vets are very kind and empathetic. The clinic is clean and tidy, and the examination rooms are nice and well lit. The front desk staff are very well organized, and it's always been a breeze to schedule appointments. I would recommend this vet office wholeheartedly.

Our dog, Kuper had a tooth abscess and needed an extraction. After our regular vet told us that the earliest they could help her would be 4 months away we started phoning around. McKenzie Vet Clinic we’re able to get her in within a week. All the staff and the doctors were great! Clear communication and very friendly and helpful. Had a situation with a dog we adopted through them. We finally got it solved, pretty much accidentally, after which they were completely patronizing, they refused to admit any responsibility, wouldn't even listen to our side of the story, and they flat out refused to apologize, even after I directly asked for an apology. After we are done with what we have already been charged for, we will not be stepping through those doors again.

Words cannot express how amazing this vet is. My dog savannah was extremely sick and they did everything in their power to help me knowing money was extremely tight, but my dogs are my daughters. When nobody else would help me, they were there, and they truly cared about my dog. They went above and beyond in performing her procedure and where other vets were going to charge me more than double, they did their absolute best to not and they worked with me to make it work while easing my fears. Knowing my situation they did absolutely everything in their power to save my dogs life, and because of them she came out of it perfect. I will never go anywhere else. I have two dogs and two cats and this is the only place I trust for them.

Every single interaction I've had with the staff here has been kind and professional. I was in and out over the past three days, and each staff member I talked to addressed my initial concerns and took the time to answer every question I had in depth, without making me feel silly at all for asking things that probably had obvious answers. They stayed calm when I was worried, reassured me as an owner that I was doing a good job, and even offered their personal tips and tricks for things like how to get a pee sample, or how to keep my cat healthy at home while I'm at work. I can't single one staff member out because I honestly felt comforted and welcomed by each one. My wife and I brought our very sick little Snow Pea in during the holidays and unfortunately had to say goodbye. We signed the paper work and paid McKenzie Vet Clinic for a private cremation. On New Years Eve we received a call from them informing us that we would not be getting her ashes back. Their negligence resulted in her being sent off to general cremation. Our precious girls final remains will never come home with us. We do NOT want this to happen to another family. No one should ever have to experience this type of devastation during an already incredibly difficult time.

Echoing my husband’s review because this is absolutely unacceptable service. “Two years ago I was ranting and raving (5-Star Review) about McKenzie Veterinary Services and unfortunately after my most recent experience, I will no longer be using their services. A little back story: For the past 4-5 years, I've exclusively brought my two cats ONLY to McKenzie Vets for anything & everything and for the most part the experiences were positive. Not that money matters or that I think that I’m their most valuable customer (because I’m not) but I’ve spent thousands of dollars just in the last two years alone on my cats for items like: grooming, pet food, tests, blood work, etc. And I do think that this should play a factor on how clients are treated. Another important note is that my purebred Maine Coon, requires annual grooming with general anesthetic because in the summer she cannot keep up with all of her fir and mats start to form. List of events in-order: 2015 – Annual Checkup 2015 (summer) – Annual Grooming at unknown price 2016 (summer) – Annual Grooming at unknown price 2017 (summer) – Annual Grooming at unknown price 2018 (summer) – Annual Grooming at $307 2019 (summer) – Annual Grooming quote $489 ! (Within 11 months the price increase by $182 for the exact same work) “Because my cat requires an annual checkup (even though they see her annually and hasn’t had a checkup done since 2015!) And because different Doctors quote differently”. The staff member literally told me that each Doctor has their own way of billing/quoting jobs and that there was a high chance of getting the grooming done for less if I saw a different Doctor (mind = blown). Oh, and did I mention that I originally had an appointment already booked for this Saturday and they called me to cancel it… In summary, I will never be recommending or spending another dime at this establishment. I feel that I have been cheated and taken advantage of.”

I like this place; Vets are nice and knowledgeable. I always feel like my dog is well treated there. It is more expensive then other vets Ive seen One area they could work on is reception. Certain receptionists ( Definitely not all of them ) need to learn some manners! I'm almost at a point that I may consider switching vets because every time I called I hang up a little upset! Don't be angry if I call to ask about how long a certain surgery is expected to last! It's a legitimate question. Oh and please don't start humming on the phone when I ask questions! That is INSANELY rude!! I really hope this will get better because I really wanna keep seeing the awesome vets that they have there!

We trust our beloved cat Nakita's care [18 yrs old] and my daughter's amazing certified service dog Brite's care to the good Doctors and caring staff at McKenzie Vet Services. Last year they showed such care and compassion when we had an emergency with Nakita's daughter, 16 year old Stella by Starlight who sadly had suffered a heart attack and was dying in our arms. It was one of our most pathetic days and the staff and doctor comforted both Stella and us making her passing quieter and more gentle. They offered us many options for her after-life care which was very helpful. Very respectful crew. Thank you. Bless you all for the work you all do!

Nobody likes to read a negative review, but I'm still reeling in shock from the poor service I received from Dr. Eric Wilkening a month ago that I want to share my experience with anyone else who might be dealing with similar issues. To make a very long story short, my cat has mammary gland tumours. After finding the tumours and Googling what they might be, I took her in to see Dr. W. The visit was like this: he came into the room, I told him what I suspected, he prodded her, and told me that he will have to do radical surgery as soon as possible. That the cost of each surgery will be around $3000, for a total for $6000 (or more) for removal of both mammary chains. I felt so taken aback and so overwhelmed by the bluntness and the one-track-solution that I agreed with the idea, and he left the room. Since then, I have seen two other vets at separate clinics for second opinions. Both vet clinics were completely new to me, and both offered so much more empathy, patience, and care to both me and my cat, including letting me know all my options, supporting me in making decisions, and answering any questions or offering ideas for questions I may have. I won't be returning to McKenzie, and certainly I won't be referring anyone there.

They are so loving and caring towards our fur babies, and they are so patient with all of my questions. They even did a follow up for no cost after I was worried about her incision after being spayed. Where to begin. This past Aug, our 'little girl'- a sweet Great Pyr was diagnosed at another Vet with cancer. We reluctantly sought a second opinion - and nearly cancelled the appointment because of cost. It was a Sunday and I had incorrectly assumed it would have been a visit with a tech. The gals at the front reassured me that they work on Sundays and that she would be seen by a vet. Enter Dr. Piercy. She immediately put us at ease as she said she didn't think Steevie's lump and diagnosis from the previous lab was an accurate measure of a cancer diagnosis. While she told us to be cautiously optimistic at first - SHE WAS 100% RIGHT. Her lumpectomy was perfect but the stitches were in a place that received a lot of 'pressure' when she'd squat so they kept breaking open. We had to return several times. They took us in quickly and made the necessary repairs without gouging us. Our bill was 1/3 less than the quote from the other place even with the added stitch fixing costs. I just wanted to post because finding a vet without a referral can be tough. I also wanted to remind folks to get a second opinion for a serious diagnosis. In our case it was well worth it. We still support our old vet's office with food purchases and blanket donations. I know that mistakes can happen on occassion at any vet's office but the wonderful out come at McKenzie has made us loyal customers going forward and we want to reassure people that the care they will receive with them is by far the absolute best.. When you see the number of happy patients you'll meet in their reception room I think you'll realize you've brought your buddy to the very best - without feeling that you are ever being over charged or taken advantage of. I have NEVER had a vet say they could perform a less expensive test that even though it was an older method, gave identical results. The price difference between the two was only $100.00 but for us it was a large sum. Dr Piercy thought to consider our cost - which was a first - and this simple act told me she was in it for the animals and not the money. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them to any animal lover. We've moved so have experienced four different vet's offices with two Great Pyrs over the years and I have to say combining the highest level of care with an affordable price you can breath easy knowing you'll both be in great, great hands!!

The staff and doctors explain everything in such a clear way, they assist in you so generously in the hardest moments, and they do show how much they care for animals at every moment. They also directed us to the appropriate volunteering associations when we found an abandoned cat. They have us as customers for life, I would never go elsewhere in Victoria.

I have an English Bulldog with Allergy issues and together with Dr Rae, we were able to come up a wonderful treatment for John Wayne without affecting his quality of life. Dr Rae in my opinion is the best Vet in Victoria. McKenzie Vet services knows John Wayne by name and they always have a welcoming smile, a cookie, and great attitude when we come in. I always leave feeling the best care has been given to my much loved pet, and he is always happy to get snuggles from Danielle. Most of the time I call I get put on hold till it tells me to try again later. This has happened at least five times. Every time I get through they want me to bring my cat or dog in to see the vet, even for things like flea medication renewal. The vets are good but you really can tell they're maximising billings.

Dr. Mcartney and his team are wonderful! They truly care about each and every animal that comes into their clinic. I have never felt that they have given up on us no matter how complex the health problem of our pet. The front staff and the technicians are great too -- with knowledge and caring that goes above the average vet support team member. The other great thing about this clinic is that if your 'favourite' vet is away there are many more to choose from so you never feel like you have to put off an appointment due to availability. And besides they are all terrific! I highly recommend the the McKenzie Veterinary Clinic to everyone who loves their pet.

Amazing service! The fact that the same vet's you see in office are also part of the mobile clinic is a MAJOR plus. Especially for euthanasia. Knowing you can get your regular vet to come to you in this difficult time. I experienced this earlier in the year & made sure it was one of our regular vet's days (we have 2 regular vet's in the clinic) with the mobile clinic. Making it 'easier' (for a lack of a better word) all around for the animal, owner & vet that already know each other & the situation at hand. The animal will of course be more comfortable in their own home. With the regular vet that the animal knows, that will also comfort them. The time they took to answer my questions & listen to my change of heart every second with no judgement, just reassurance that whatever I decide is right. It did not feel rushed in anyway & the silence beyond my tears was heartfelt. They left the bill on the table. (I didn't even notice) So as not to add to a difficult day. I am extremely grateful.

Wonderful clinic. Dr. Piercy recently saved our kitten's life. She was very thorough, compassionate and patient with us during our crisis. Upfront about all the costs, options and possible outcomes. We opted for emergency surgery on a weekend no less and so glad we did. She even stayed after hours to make sure our baby came thru ok. We have been in a number of times and each time the staff are all very helpful and professional. And the cats are no longer allowed to help me sew !

The level of care that our yellow lab Blue received from Mckenzie Veterinary Services was fantastic. They followed up with us regularly on his treatment and they were both warm and genuine in their treatment of him. I was blessed to get a same day appointment for my constipated cat when my regular clinic couldn't get him in. All the staff I met were friendly, compassionate and competent. They took adequate time to address my concerns and go over cost and treatment estimates with me. The facility is clean and bright and doesn't smell like animals or cleaning solutions. I found that the prices charged for his assessment, treatment and medications to be quite reasonable. They took great care of my fuzzy baby and I'm so happy to have him back home and feeling better.

I was charged 50 dollars extra for booking in less than 24 hours. There were no other appointments and even mine was late. I was offered blood work for 400 dollars. No alternative offered. The next day another vet saw me within an hour for no extra charge. Blood work for 180. These people should be ashamed of their "services". I'm putting my cat down tomorrow. My best friend of 15 years. Can't help but wonder if he could have had a better chance.

Two years ago I was ranting and raving (5-Star Review) about McKenzie Veterinary Services and unfortunately after my most recent experience, I will no longer be using their services. A little back story: For the past 4-5 years, I've exclusively brought my two cats ONLY to McKenzie Vets for anything & everything and for the most part the experiences were positive. Not that money matters or that I think that I’m their most valuable customer (because I’m not) but I’ve spent thousands of dollars just in the last two years alone on my cats for items like: grooming, pet food, tests, blood work, etc. And I do think that this should play a factor on how clients are treated. Another important note is that my purebred Maine Coon, requires annual grooming with general anesthetic because in the summer she cannot keep up with all of her fir and mats start to form. List of events in-order: 2015 – Annual Checkup 2015 (summer) – Annual Grooming at unknown price 2016 (summer) – Annual Grooming at unknown price 2017 (summer) – Annual Grooming at unknown price 2018 (summer) – Annual Grooming at $307 2019 (summer) – Annual Grooming quote $489 ! (Within 11 months the price increase by $182 for the exact same work) “Because my cat requires an annual checkup (even though they see her annually and hasn’t had a checkup done since 2015!) And because different Doctors quote differently”. The staff member literally told me that each Doctor has their own way of billing/quoting jobs and that there was a high chance of getting the grooming done for less if I saw a different Doctor (mind = blown). Oh, and did I mention that I originally had an appointment already booked for this Saturday and they called me to cancel it… In summary, I will never be recommending or spending another dime at this establishment. I feel that I have been cheated and taken advantage of.

Took in my cat for a broken foot. 2 Months, $1000 and SEVEN splints later, he still has a broken foot. They can't seem to supply him with a bandage that will withstand the time needed for him to heal. This clinic seems very driven for the dollar, wanting me to come in every few weeks for more X-Rays and can't seem to apply a simple cast without putting him under sedation (?!?!?!). Definitely going to deal with a new clinic in the future.

We had a very gentle and kind experience with McKenzie Veterinary. My 20 year old cat was vomiting and they were able to get her some relief as well as offer us possible treatment ideas. With their help we ruled out the easy fixes. When it became clear that she was going downhill fast, they got me in the next day to say good bye. Disorganized business and ill-informed veterinary care. Get another opinion elsewhere, it will be well worth it for any serious infection or injury. Follow-up to owner's reply: I appreciate that the staff all love my dog, but many things went wrong during my several trips that showed off disorganization, messy internal communication, and some disrespectful behavior toward me in the face of those errors. All forgivable, if I could think my pal got the best quality care... but that's not what he got. Dr. Rey last recommended further surgical procedures under anesthesia including amputation and more to come. Luckily I trusted my doubts and took a second opinion. We got some good advice, and I didn't have to have part of my dog's foot cut off. I think the most telling thing was that there was no follow-up of any kind once we stopped scheduling appointments with his serious condition looking at amputation, caring so much as you do, a simple call or email may have been in order.

McKenzie vet, is a great vet. I had brought my cat in when she was sick. They were able to take her in right that same day. The vet was clear with me and didn't hide a thing. A different occasion with a different cat, I needed him to been seen rather sooner than later and again they were able to see him same day. It was a good experience as well. I would recommend this place to other people with their fur babies, absolutely. *Edit* I did have a vet for my first kitty ( didn't own 2nd cat until later ) but when I needed to take her in to see a vet ASAP, Mckenzie vet was referred to me. This is when I called Mckenzie up and they were able to help me out that same day. My second cat didn't have a vet at that time. Since I had great experience with McKenzie I called them up for my second kitty. So now he will remain with them. I am happy to change my 4 star to 5 ???? I would say that the doctors there that treated and saw my fur baby kitty were very gentle and explained everything properly and what exactly the reasoning of the procedure and medicines were for, ..they let me know how my cat was feeling from his issue and what are the options and possibilities were if not treated. I don't even know where to start; I can't say enough about how wonderful this clinic is. I'm a first time puppy mom as of 3 weeks ago so the paranoia and overprotectiveness is real lol. My sweet girl developed cherry eye three days after we got her and we saw Dr. Hockley during her walk in hours (after 6pm, which is amazing, by the way). If anyone should be a veterinarian, it's this woman. She's quick so she can get to the other patients but no questions or concerns go unanswered or unaddressed. She is thorough, warm, and ridiculously intelligent. You can tell she has a genuine love of her profession. I knew I wanted to take my girl here but didn't have a preference as far as which doctor because like I said, first time puppy mom. Earlier that day, I had booked an appointment for vaccines with another doctor, but after seeing Dr. Hockley, I knew Dublin was in the best hands possible and ended up booking with her instead. The administrative girls are also fantastic. So kind, patient, and experienced, and they all clearly possess a serious love of animals. A couple days after our walk in visit, they actually called to follow up and make sure Dublin was doing well and responding to her eye drops. Top notch service! A human doctor wouldn't do that... Lol. Anyway, I could keep going but I'll stop here because I'm sure you get the point. If you have any doubt about who to take your fur child to, I'm certain you will not be disappointed with McKenzie Vet. I will be a client for life.

I have a Kitten, a Dog and a Rabbit, all of which have been taken to Mackenzie Veterinary Services in the past. Let me start by saying that I had not been for a full year up until last month, when I had to bring in my new kitten for his neuter. Prior to this, I had only brought my dog and rabbit in for general check ups and vaccinations with no issues. I travelled from Langford just for that vet, based on reviews and positive past experiences. I'll put this simply. The level of disrespect shown to me at Mackenzie Vet. was atrocious upon my last two visits. When asked if I wanted to have a microchip for my cat rather than what was described as a "slightly visible ear tattoo," I opted for the tattoo to save myself the $50 up charge for another day. I have seen many a cat with tattoos in their ears and you have to really look for them, so no big deal. I picked up my cat from his neauter, and to my total shock and dismay, they had tattoo'd the entire inside of his right ear, top to bottom, with his code. The ink went far too deep, to add insult to injury. My cats ear turned green, and the letters lifted off of his ear like no other. I called Mackenzie, and they told me to bring him back in to see the damage they had caused. My car broke down recently, and for the time being I am at the disposal of taxi's to go to the vet. $50 in taxi cab fare is what it took me to travel to the vet for a mistake that was theirs in the first place. No renumeration for what should have been an unnecessary voyage was considered on their end. Understandable, most vets don't pay for travel fare. But this was their mistake. My Cat's ear was damaged by their unprofessional staff. At least a discounted visit in the future would have been a show of good faith, not that I would have used it. Just based on principle though, that is how you run a business. Upon arriving, I was treated as if I were in the wrong for being concerned. They were nothing but unapologetic and clearly they had no plans to reprocate the situation in any way. All that I was told is that the reason someone MAY have tattoo'd his ear to be extremely large was that they sometimes do this with ferrel cats that are brought in. My cat is not a ferrel cat. They told me it was not infected and clearly must have thought me to be uneducated in telling me that all of the bleeding ink would soon disappear. Ink is ink. Does unintentionally bled ink disappear off of a piece of paper when it gets a drop of water on it? No, it does not. I have plenty of tattoos. I have tattoos over spots where there is nothing but cartlidge, their excuse for the listing and bleeding being in that a cats ear is not very fleshy. Black ink is not supposed to read like brail. It is not meant to lift if it is done properly. Period. So now, my kittens ear is fortunately past the fear of major infection, but remains to be a massive blue/ green ink stain. I have sought many opinions from other cats owners about the tattoo. They said they same; if you look at the tattoo on their cat, it is properly done and is absolutely tiny. No reprocations were made, nor a single bit of accountability was taken by Mackenzie Veterinary Services. Frankly, they should be ashamed and I would advise that nobody take their animals here in the future. I fear for the well being of your pet, if you do. Not to mention the a number of the receptionists are extremely rude.

I have been a client of McKenzie Vet since 1988, through great times and some not so great, but taking on an animal as a companion is something that we understand is a responsibility not to be taken lightly. I will soon lose my precious responsibility, but with so much gratitude to the staff and especially Dr. Hansford, it will be with grace, respect and so much support. It is easy to care for an animal when it is good news, but it takes special people to help out a client and their companion when the news is bad and heroic efforts would be more cruel. Dr. Piercy is amazing! I had booked an appointment and forgot to ask for our usual vet. I was a little concerned when we walked in for our appointment and heard it wasn't our usual vet who was going to look after Felix. The moment Dr. Piercy realized that our Felix isn't an easy client (which was the moment she met us) she got right down on the floor with him and gave him all the non-threatening body language she could. It was not so much the money as that vet's cynicism that led to noxious side effects for the dog and turned me off. At Mackenzie, Dudley has been treated by Dr Ann Signorella who is by far the best vet I have encountered in a lifetime of living with dogs on three continents and across Canada. At this clinic, I know that they have some excellent doctors it their service is by far the most disrespectful and increasingly expensive service that I've ever had to endure. Since their recommendation to put my dog on a medication that may cause seizures, my dog has been having seizures. They are now charging us for treatment for seizures. We have been told that we would be called back multiple times without success for several incidents that we were extremely anxious about. We never get a call back. We have had to call them and then we get charged $125

We have always had wonderful service at McKenzie Vet Service. We first went to them when our 14 year old cat became ill and we had to put her to sleep. The staff were absolutely wonderful and so caring during this difficult time. We now have 2 cats and a dog who visit them yearly for the checkups. My dog had surgery and I was to pick her up at 5:15 pm. I was left hanging in the parking lot for 40 minutes with no response to texts or phone calls. In fact initially I called and was told I had to text, then they stopped answering the phone as well. The only reason I got paid attention to after 40 minutes was because I saw the vet (who was fantastic) going home for the day and hollered at him. He then went in & told the staff I was in the parking lot. The office staff were not even remotely apologetic, told me I should have come to the door (although all signage says not to due to covid), that they knew they still had patients there and they had a line up / were short staffed. They then said I should take it up with the owner. Completely unacceptable, they clearly need more office staff and the ones there need some serious training. It's too bad because I had every intention of using this vet going forward because of how great the veterinarian was.

I'll start with the positive. Dr. Chatton is an excellent doctor and very good and patient with large rambunctious dogs. Staff are friendly and it's easy to get an appointment on short notice. I've had a few bad experiences some from doctors that are no longer there. The latest 2 issues we had with our dog made me question if I should bring her in again. She had 2 back molar pulled which cost around 2000$ total. I was quoted around the same price for the same 2 teeth plus 3 more that may need to come out at a different vet. She's old so we decided to just pull the infected ones since the others weren't a problem at this time just to realize the cost was the same for less work. That was one regretful visit. The next one we went in for an infected nail bed. Even I could see what was wrong with it and this dog is easily handled. The doctor told us she would give us oral antibiotics that she forgot to prescribe plus topical antibiotics which were useless due to the fact that her nail was dying. The doc said her wick was intact and it was obviously not. Went back to see Dr. Chatton 5 days later when it was not getting better and he knew right away the nail had to come out. So we wasted our money the first time and my dog suffered longer. They charge us for a cone that they didnt give us so I had to go back for it and the antibiotics that she didnt prescribe. Now my dog has some issues and I would love to bring her to see Dr. Chatton but I am really considering a more affordable place as she will need ongoing care.

I had never heard of a vet clinic going to another country to help with animals. My daughter has a friend that works at McKenzie Vet, and she was telling us about it. We followed her on facebook, and watched the videos with a renewed interest. The kindness shown to the people, the heart wrenching stories of what they saw, the incredible caring the animals received. I was in awe. When they returned and my daughter had taken a couple of the new dogs for a walk by my work, I fell in love. I paid an outrageous amount of money for the dog we already owned. The last thing I was thinking was to adopt a dog. When I saw the love and care they gave to these little guys, I couldn't help myself. I fell in love with little Pandabear. We have had him for 6 months now, and are so in love with him. He is a wonderful companion for our first dog. Any issues or concerns, I just give a quick call. They have been a great support. I plan on taking in a couple more of these precious babes when I am retired, which is just around the corner. They have renewed my life and given me a new purpose. Absolute horrible horrible place! We brought our 4 months old puppy for a full check up and vaccines, suspected she may have a cough- but were unsure... vet immediately stopped the exam, refused to check her or give her vaccines! Escorted us out of the back door in the most disrespectful manner! We found out 2 weeks later at another vet the she missed a yeast infection in her ears which was causing her a lot of pain! And to top it off, they charged us over 80 dollars for this nonsense and absolutely doing nothing! DO NOT take your pets there, very neglectful and unprofessional.

We had kind of a complicated situation that required immediate surgery for our dog at first to clean up an abscess that morphed into a complicated situation involving a suite of symptoms that were difficult to diagnose. We were grateful at first that we were able to get into the clinic for surgery within a few hours of calling. It was our luck that the vet handling the surgeries that day was Dr. Nicole Salloum. She followed our case closely following the surgery as our dog experienced some pretty severe difficulties. Dr. Salloum checked in with us by phone and we saw her daily for nearly a week as we tried various things. She was sensitive to the cost of investigations, took the time to discuss our case with colleagues in the clinic to ensure we were receiving the best care. Late in the game she even saw us briefly after clinic hours and prepared us for the potential decision to euthanize. Happily through her capable care our dog did end up rallying nicely, although I was grateful for her skills, kindness, and consideration whatever the outcome.

I came home after work (7:30pm) to find my cat, not acting like my cat. I knew something was wrong. I knew there were few options at this hour. After a call at 8 to the clinic, we came in for emergency walk-in. The care and compassion Chai and I received was way more than I expected. The Vet was honest with his condition and what could or could not happen and gave me several options with his well being at heart. Never mind that Dr.Michelle and her assistant stayed well past 10pm saving my cat. We are not out of the woods yet but tonight showed me that some people really do care about the animals and the gift they have and it showed tonight.

This clinic has cared for my cats for over 25 years. I trust their Vets completely and would highly recommend them to others. The admin staff are kind, and unfailing polite and easy to deal with. The vets are very knowledgeable and if they don't know they will research or consult a specialist for you at no cost. I also know they are a great supporter of Dee's Orphan Kitten fund which is a cat/kitten rescue operation and also take time every year to go to Mexico to do free vet work for all animals and arrange to bring back the street dogs for adoption. Two of those dogs live on my street. Lastly, they do have a real concern about costs and endeavor to keep your costs low even if it means doing some tests etc for free. Try them and you will not be disappointed.

Little boots got Neutered and they called to check up on him which was fabulous and gave me a very detailed, easy to follow care instruction package. Both my cats were registered with McKensie Vet. On Monday morning I witnessed my kitten throw up a roundworm. I called then at 9am to report this, they said they would get back to me when I could pick up the prescription. I called back at 1pm. Sitting in vets inbox. I called back at 6pm. Sitting in vets inbox. At 815. 15 minutes after they closed. They called my wifes number, even tho I called and said my number three times already. As she was not expecting the call she didnt see it till Tuesday on her lunch break. But wait. The prescription wasnt ready, they needed my kittens weight. I called them on Tuesday around noon to give them my kittens weight as requested. It is now Wednesday at 5pm and they still have not gotten back to me. I'm not a vet, which is why I visit one. But one would think vomiting round worms would be something they could fill in less than 3 days. What if I had children and the cat puked again? Infecting my child unaware to me? We cancelled with this vet. And from now on will visit somewhere else.

My second time coming to this vet. My cat had just been neutered and I was told I had no reason to want a busker collar (cone to stop my cat from licking his incision) it really seemed like they were just busy and couldnt be bothered. They said he hadnt licked his cuts at all and evidently they werent watching him the whole time since as soon as I got home it was apparent that I did need one. I called them and they told me to come back or go to any pet store and they would have one. I do not drive so this was already inconvient for me but none of the pet stores around me carried one for cats so I ended up having to walk back to the vet and get charged 15 dollars for something that they shouldve sent with me the whole time. Honestly wouldnt have even bothered me that much if I didnt have my cat home alone this couple hours all the while Im sure he was licking away at his insision which could lead to infection and more vet bills. All because of poor judgement by this clinic I do not recommend them if you want to feel confident in the ability for them to take proper care of your pet. Super unhappy. Oh and to add insult to injury.. When i explained the situation the receptionist told me there was no way he was licking and is totally shocked with what I was telling her. No apologies though.

We have been going to McKenzie Veterinary Services for almost 8 years and we are so pleased with the care our two dogs have received. Dr Rae and her staff go out of their way to help us support our nervous dog during her visits. They give her extra time to get settled in the exam room, make sure she has a clear entry and exit from the exam room and they move quickly and calmly to make sure that she is comfortable for check ups and vaccinations. As a result, she absolutely loves going to the clinic and getting to see them! And so do we! This is the strangest vet I’ve ever been to... my first visit, the Dr MISSED my kitten when getting his shots. I watched her literally just spray the injection onto his fur and had to try for a 3rd time before it was finally injected. When I went back for his booster they took him out of the room and did not let me watch; which is concerning since she missed twice the first time. When I came back for my other cat, she needed a urine sample which the COLLECTION it’s self, they charged me $75. Then the urinalysis was an additional $50. They told me she has to stay there all day because her bladder was empty, little did they tell me a day long stay Costs $75. At the end of this visit, I was charged $400..... for a urine sample. I would have taken her home and brought her back if they had respectfully told me the price. Just all around a questionable vet clinic.

I was blown away today! Took my 11 year old Staffordshire bull terrier in with a skin issue ( emergency weekend appt) and was treated fantastically by the staff! I thought that Diane (the Doctor) was amazing! My kitty Paws was hit by a car and when I just showed up there (I was panicking and didn't even call first) the receptionist was empathetic and assured me she was able to sneak him in between the scheduled appointments (it was a Sunday morning). Paws was lucky to get off with some badly bruised lungs, a bunch of abrasions on his face and he was missing a bunch of claws - but NO BROKEN BONES! I was shown, yes shown not just told, how to administer the pain medication as well as to watch out for other symptoms that could come up and what to do about them. To top it off, Diane even called me later that night (at like 7pm so the office had been closed for a couple hours already) to check on Paws and see how he was doing! How many vets do that?? Well done McKenzie Vet! Paws is home and doing very well, his big brother Rex is very happy to have him back. He's been watching over him from a safe distance making sure he's okay!

I have used McKenzie for about 14 Years as my vet service and have had nothing but very satisfying results. I have called 10 minutes before closing with a paw injury ( broken nail) from playing in the park this injury required surgery to repair, the vet and 2 techs stayed for 2 hours charging me only for service no OT or emergency fees. They have been extremely compassionate when I have had to put a pet down due to illness ( cancer) that was beyond treatment. I have found that most of the vets have trained in a specialty so no matter what the problem is there is a professional that can advise the best way ahead. I would recommend McKenzie Vet services to any of my friends with no concern.

We also had mix ups with prescriptions on two separate occasions. We had a prescription for caninsulin (for diabetes) , but given cartrophen (an anti inflammatory), on a second occasion our prescription for Felimazole was for 2.5mg, but we were given 5.0mg. Cats: Mugs (the First) passed away in her 22nd year, Saphi and Sara, were in their 17th years and Monty, my Lhasa Apso was also in his 17th year. Saying goodbye when the time comes is always hard to bear, but I cannot express enough my heartfelt thanks to Dave, Malcolm and Chris for their sensitivity and compassion when they have had the task of putting my much loved and elderly pets to sleep. Mugs (the Second) and Tigger are clinic patients now and have been since they were kittens, 8 and 10 years ago respectively. Incredibly upset with the level of service at this clinic. My cat had stopped eating so brought her in for a blood panel, they said they found nothing and sent her home with some medications that were not explained to me at all. My cat experienced side effects from them and I thought she was going to die (panting, foaming at the mouth, difficulty breathing and dilated pupils), she ended up recovering. I have since taken her to another clinic and they had her eating by the time she was out the door. After reviewing the original blood panel, they found the Mackenzie clinic had not even bothered to test for some very apparent things. She is hopefully on the way to recovery after PROPER medical care. Additional things not relevant to my pet's health but were experienced at the clinic; I was told to arrive 20 minuets before my appointment to fill out paper work, fair. When we arrived the clinic was not set to open for another 20 minuets! So I had to sit with my already distressed cat in the car waiting for them to open. Second, for the life of the reception staff they could not get my name nor my pet's name correct. When I had reached my limit with irritations that morning I said firmly that my name was not 'olivia' the lady burst out laughing and thought it was hilarious. Waste of money time and stress.

Signorella did the surgery and when we went in to finalize everything she took the time to sit and chat with us, answering our many questions. Had to bring our new little rescue "Jocco" into McKenzie Vet tonight as somehow he caught a dew claw and wrenched it backwards and was in pain. We rushed in and they took us in right away and fixed the problem, trimmed all of his other nails, and only charged us for a nail trim!!!! Marvelous staff. Very friendly, loving, compassionate............can't say enough about our great experience.!! A BIG THANKYOU to all the staff at McKenzie Vet!

I call today because i was worried about my little buddy Mack the cat. We have noticed some behavior and irregular urination from him. The receptionist was patronizing and condescending, telling me my cat could have died because i had not called them earlier. I will not use this vet again, i don't need this sort of negetivity when asking for help. Poor job, Mckenzie Vet.

Why do I love them? knowledgeable, responsive (including mobile services), excellent hours. My ginger tabby had superb care from Dr. Chatton and Rhiannon in the last weeks of his life. They were very helpful,and didn't assume my puppy had parvovirus and knew she was nervous why she was drooling and pooped in her kennel and spayed her, tattooed her ear and cut her nail's and pulled two baby teeth am going back for sure

I have two golden retrievers, Cooper and Mickollo who have been seeing Dr. Helen Rae. This review is long overdue and I should have done this long time ago. They were just puppies when they started coming to the McKenzie Veterinary Services (recommended to me by my golden breeders) and Dr. Rae stood to be their veterinarian for many years. Dr. Rae is commendable for her professionalism, her skills and her utmost respect for my dogs as well as our family's challenges. After nine years, my Cooper had to leave us because of fibrosarcoma. Our ordeal of letting him go was made easy by Dr. Rae and staff. She provided more than respect but genuine care for my dogs and my family. Thank you for making it easy for us.

After years of thinking it was easiest to just stay at the same vet I was very unhappy. My rescue dog was never treated very great here. They came across extremely opinionated and made me feel like me and my dog weren't good enough for them. We were made out to be a nuisance. Never felt welcome in the lobby and there was zero respect or patience for my girl who isn't yet socialized. Being a rescue who's afraid of other dogs and freaks out of can't have her in a lobby full of dogs, they didn't like this. They were rude when I wanted to stand outside to wait to be called in. Even though we were right there at the window. They also ignored all my emails with complaints and continue to send me reminders even though I've told them. I will never return and wish not to be contacted. I've switched vets.

My family has been bringing our pets to McKenzie Vet Services since 1986, when we moved to Victoria. Four cats later, in 2013, we still have confidence in the care and support our animals have recieved, especially around having them put to sleep(old age). Our pets have received care at McKenzie since we moved to Victoria in 2004, and we have always received excellent care. Recently, both of my elderly dogs have required care for serious health concerns. In one case, the result was successful surgery and improved health and comfort. Sadly, in the other case euthanasia was the only option. The care my pets and I received from Dr. Karyn Arthur, Dr. Ann Signorella and the entire team at McKenzie was stellar. Clinically, the care was excellent, with both vets drawing on a wealth of knowledge, skill and experience to diagnose and treat my dogs. Difficult news was delivered with compassion, empathy and honesty. Care options were discussed with me, and I was supported in considering a range of treatment options. Both vets took the time to understand me and my dogs, and my wishes for them. When euthanasia was necessary, my beloved dog was supported to die in my arms, peacefully, with dignity and with both of us surrounded by genuine caring and compassion. Words can not express my gratitude for the care we received.

I was blown away by how knowledgeable, kind and professional the staff at McKenzie Veterinary Services were. They were patient and understanding, and even though I called back multiple times, I was never made to feel like I was a nuisance. My dog recovered nicely and I can say it was largely in part to the fabulous advice and attention we received. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a veterinary team to care for their pet.
