Dr. Tim Zaharchuk is amazing, he truly does his job for the love and care for your pets. It’s hard to come across professionals who still do their job out our true passion and not just money. He took his time with us explaining everything and we never felt rushed. A true professional! The office staff were all very pleasant to deal with as well.

Dr Zaharchuk has been taking care of my fur babies for, I believe, 35 yrs. I trust no other veterinarian. He has always cared about each and every one of them as if they were his own. Anyone else who says differently is lying. His staff are equally caring. When we had a pet, which we ended up being severely allergic to, Derrydale staff helped us find a loving home for him.

I have been going to this vet since my 12 yr old english bulldog was a puppy. Fantastic people and clean clinic, never had a problem. FWIW I have an english bulldog so I tend to have more vet visits than your average dog.

I should have done more research. My bunnies were booked for a spay on a Friday morning. I got a call to pick them up around 4. After consulting other vets that specialize in bunnies I was told they should have been kept overnight. This office is closed over the weekend so I had to travel to Guelph when there was complications. My bunny died as a result of the procedure. Please don't bring your pet to this clinic. I would never bring another pet to this clinic, and neither will anyone I've spoken to.

Took my hedgehog Mishka here for 5 years. She was always treated well, and the staff always doted on her. She had her uterus, and eye removed under Dr. Z, and she did great both times under his hand. He always goes over everything in detail in regards to what's being done, as well as other options. Dr. T is great as well and always complimented Mishka on her strength. Mishka passed away today, and I wanted to thank the entire staff for the dedication to care they showed her during her 5 years.

This is our 4th cat with Dr Z and the crew at derrydale. Our first lived to be a happy health 19 and was with Dr Z his entire life. They are kind, caring and direct. They were able to make saying good bye to our furry friends easier, and with great compassion. They are now helping us with a rescue and she is 100 % improved from when we first brought her in a year ago. I have referred several friends and neighbours all of whom have had good solid service and support . The clinic also provides support services for seniors who may not always be in a position to afford care for a loved companion. Over the years we have grown to trust them and in the Rare case something has been out of the ordinary they have always done more than expected to correct the situation. Professional, caring and compassionate. Thx from Snappy, Oskar, Tsuji, and now Catrina.

Dr.Tye was very thorough and helpful. She was respectful of our decision to feed raw and gave us guidance to make sure our dog was getting proper nutrition. She ensured we knew how to make sure we prevented cross contamination etc. She was patient with all of my questions and also gave resources to the questions I had. I would highly recommend this office. All the staff are pleasant and nice. Covid protocols are followed.

I've given this place a second chance because mistake and overlooks happen bit, NEVER AGAIN WILL I RELY ON THIS PLACE!!! Years ago a vet told me he would look into a shot for one of my ferrets adrenal disease and let me know if he could find it or not. I never got a call. Then this year I was suppose to get a referral for my other ferrets adrenal disease,. No apparent referral was sent through, according to the other clinic ,and they couldn't find me on file when they've used my number multiple times. So disappointed because the staff friendly but this is not a professional.

My dog was not doing well at the time and so we rushed him to the nearest animal hospital. Even though Button was not registered with this hospital, in time of despair, the entire team promptly took care of my pup and tried whichever measures they could to help him. Without knowing us or my dog, they gave solace and comfort to us in our time of distress. I sincerely thank Derrydale Animal Hospital for their consolation seen and felt through their actions and communication during this difficult time in my family's life.

My opinion is to avoid this vet - and we will from now on. Were given a "worst case scenario" price for a full tooth extraction on our dog (she's almost 13). Took her in for the surgery, and came out with a bill $600 more than the worst case estimate. Went back for a post surgical visit and bloodwork - and he found a TOOTH (oh that's embarrassing is all he could say)! Then the bloodwork results baffled him and he brought the "C" word into the conversation. He wanted to do an xray and ultrasound for approx $1300. Instead we drove to Barrie to see our old vet clinic and they did bloodwork and a urine test (half price to his rates). Her numbers were better and led to the likely diagnosis of Cushing - not cancer! And don't get me started on charging $35 for a nail trim - and this was on the visit where he found a tooth that he left behind. We now have to have a SECOND surgery elsewhere (vet in Barrie) to remove the tooth - as it's very sharp and bothering her with her tongue that now hangs out that side of her mouth. While he was very kind when we had to put another of our pets down - he's been robbing us blind with our living pets since. We will never be back - he's lost our faith in his abilities, and his fees are out of control.

My review for this has changed over time. When it comes to pricing, they charge you for every little thing. I couldn't afford to take my dog in for regular visits, vaccinations, and appropriate tests for her age. Second, the staff there is very friendly and the vet gets to the point of any concerns but have never really seen them go out of the way for your pet. ( I have gone there for 10 years). Recently I found a new vet that goes beyond expectations and affordability. My new vet will sit down with me and explain and show me all her results. I have a better understanding of my dogs health then I did with Derrydale. And, they don't over charge me for the small things ( like a banadage ).

A few years back I took my two little budgies here. Only thing was my vet I'm going to now is down the street vs 15km away. Dr. Z and his staff were amazing couldn't ask for anything more. His knowledge with animals is on point. I do wish I could have been much closer. But at least I know I have somewhere as a back up in case.

Overall, the experience was good. There isn't many vets that will work with rabbits. My only complaint is I had to repeat all the history information (foods, allergies, age etc.) that my wife had already provided. We had also requested that their nails get trimmed while they were there. I didn't double check before I packed them home, only to find out that they never did the service. Not so much a critique of the vet, as perhaps record keeping.

Where do I begin?! Derrydale Animal Hospital staff are amazing and compassionate. Our guinea pig Greyboy passed away suddenly on us Friday August 14, 2020. Honestly it was a shock. From the moment I spoke with Sherry at the hospital she assured all would be ok. Payment was processed over the phone and arrangements were confirmed for drop off. Upon arrival Sherry greeted us at our vehicle and presented us with a keepsake picture frame. We then said our goodbyes to our Greyboy and left knowing he was in great hands. Fast forward a week and a half later we received a card of condolences from the staff at Derrydale. Real tears again but this time of peace knowing he was at rest. Thank you Derrydale Hospital and wonderful staff.

Dr Z. has been my vet for 15 years, and has always helped with my pets problems. I had a golden lab service dog that had a year of hell with a slipped disc and went paralyzed, with his help we got him on his feet again.

Worst vet ever! Dr. Tim Zaharachuk is very unprofessional, has no class and doesn't trust his staff to deal with administrative issues. We paid for 3 pills of tick medication that is to be administered every 3 months. This medication is based on weight and my puppy was 5 months. They gave me 1 and said to come back to get the others and we will weigh him at that time. I pre-paid. We decided my puppy is too young for the medication and wanted a refund. Well they said they would only give us for the 1 because that's what we brought back, even though the receipt says 3. The doctor says they have all these 'balance and checks' in place. However, the bigger concern is that they don't know what drugs they are administering and no balance checks. Otherwise if they checked inventory they would know they were over because they didn't give me the medication. And if they did give me the medication, they would have gave me the wrong dose! As my puppy is growing and the medication is based on weight. Very unprofessional doctor. Causes a scene in front of other patients waiting. Everybody was uncomfortable. We decided to change vets, he keeps claiming it's because of the money, let me assure you we would pay triple his exaggerated prices for our dogs with the right clinic. It's the principle of it all. I do believe what goes around will come back around. We are the most honest people, but assure you in the future we will get everything in writing. Do not go here! Over rated! Plus, he treated my dog for either a bacterial or fungal infection, he didn't know what it was, and yet that wasn't even the proper diagnosis. The medication worked and as soon as we stopped taking it, it all came back. We took out dog to another vet, it's an allergy to the protein we were feeding him! We changed foods and he's fine. Do not go here!

This pleasant experience continues throughout the entire visit, with all staff being very knowledgeable, courteous, understanding and caring, concluding with options available for my pet and an HONEST professional opinion. All of this along with very reasonable rates, I will definitely be back! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!! : )

We normally see Dr Z. For overall wellness and grooming of our 3 birds. A few wks back one of our bird was not well. Took him to Guelph animal hospital as Derrydale was closed over the wkend. Guelph animal hospital saw him as it was an emergency. We decided to bring him home. Called Dr Z on Monday, his office was fully booked but he squeezed us in and treated him. He took the time to take our calls through out the week and ensure he was better. Dr Z was amazing and caring. Thank you Dr Z for seeing us when you were busy and for getting baby boy (22 yr old Eclectus parrot) better. ????
