After my cat Marley was taken to an emergency vet clinic for bladder issues, it was discovered that she had kidney stones. The emergency vet wanted to perform surgery however I took Marley to the Britannia Kingslabf Veterinary Clinic for a second option. The staff at this clinic are beyond just knowledgeable. They understand the benefits for all the different types of food and helped me find a proper diet for my cat as she has a chicken sensitivity. Most of the cat food available was not feasible for her but we found a food that works for her and within one month of a new diet and antibiotics, Marley’s kidney stones are gone. Would highly recommend this clinic to anyone! Will definitely be taking Marley back as long as I am in Calgary

I've had to take my dog here for a check up due to her becoming very sick over night. As it was the first time she was sick I was freaking out. They took great care of her I left her there in there care for the day as I had to go to work. They made me feel comfortable which was good cause I was a nevous wreak. I picked her up and she was a little weak do to throwing up and what night the night before she was happy which was a relief you can tell they care about them animals in that are there with them I've taken her back for a check up and vaccines and they were very good with her then too Prices are fair as well.

I would like to thank Britannia Kingsland Veterinary Clinic for Boss’s healthcare over the years. Boss is a purebred English Bulldog and has had his share of allergy skin and ear infections. They have always taken great care of his issues and at the same time shown me how to care for him on a daily basis. There isn’t anyone on the veterinary staff that I would not trust with his care. I have never had an appointment where we felt we have been rushed out the door. I cannot imagine a pet owner coming away from this facility unhappy with the care their pet has received. Great work from everyone there!

VERY unhappy with this vet. We recently had our cat in, and were given a perfectly reasonable quote for the overnight stay, tests and procedure. On arrival to pick her up, the bill had suddenly doubled with unrequested and unauthorized tests. Would NOT recommend this clinic if you dislike financial surprises.

I recently started going here as I moved closer and by far one of the best vets, also one of the cheapest.. My oldest cat had an eye infection in October 2018 and my previous vet charged me over $300.00! I discovered I grossly charged but Britannia vet has some of the best pricing I've seen. I have 4 animals, 2 cats, 1 dog and a bunny. The cats have no issues getting check ups and neither does my dog. My dog is afraid of everyone. I had my rabbit fixed there back in December and they were very informative even though I though it was a girl we found out it was indeed a boy. It was a very good chuckle and made my 2019! He had a small infection which happens but I was only charged for the medicine and they proceeded to call each week to make sure Stitch was okay. I've recommend this vet to a few of my friends that have animals. I hope to be dealing with Dr. Douglas and Dr. Murphy for the next little while.

I was here a week ago for the first time with my blue tongue skink Charlie. I was referred by a friend who is also a receptionist at this clinic. I wanted a vet who know about the tiliqua species, and I would be able to talk to about my concerns regarding my lovely boy. Charlie and I saw Dr.Murphy. She is fantastic at what she does, and the treatment she recommended for my boy is actually making a tremendous difference! He is looking so much better now, and it’s all thanks to Dr. Murphy! It was also reassuring to hear from a vet that he is being well looked after and apart from this minor setback, he is healthy through and through. Charlie has had two homes before me, and he was in pretty rough shape before he came to me. It makes me so happy that he is doing well! I can’t wait for him to be able to be himself and burrow like he loves doing! Thank you again for everything! I will be bringing my animals back to you!

I have been taking my rag doll, Eva, here since she was a kitten and our experience has always been great. The location is convenient and clean. The vets and staff seem to genuinely care about your pets well being and your concerns. They always offer clear explanations and options for any issues, respond quickly to emails or phone calls, and follow up after treatments. I also appreciate that they don’t try to sell unnecessary products/services. A few years ago Eva was spayed here as well—the surgery and recovery went very well. Through neglect and complete disregard and lack of detail - they killed my bunnies leg. Sept 14 - I brought my bunny in as he injured his leg and needed a cast. They applied the cast as well as gave him an xray and charged me $1000. There was 2 checkups before the removal of the cast. I asked for on the second checkup for the cast to be replaced as I thought it was too tight. They explained that it wasnt too tight and that it was looking good. The day of the removal they noticed the leg as completely died and they sent me home with a less then <1% chance to try to save it with hyrodtherapy and accupuncture. Which is animal cruelty on its own as hes in very sever pain and cant even use it to get around. Its so weak I'm scared it will snap in half. I have taken further action as I truly dont believe they should be running a vet clinic. They have missed very simple signs which led to the death of my bunnies leg - I feel like they have slipped past the point of no return and shouldn't be in charge of ANY life!

Update: Ellie and I have been going to Britannia now for a year. They have been exceptional in their care of my puppy. Appointments usually can be scheduled within 48 hours. Top rated vet here! I called for information on puppies and pricing shots etc. I was more than impressed with the receptionist who provided me with valuable information as well as taking the time to properly explain and answer all of my questions, I had lots. When I get my puppy, she's going here!!

Dr. Murphy 5 stars Dr. Douglas 0 stars Definitely go with Dr. Murphy stay far away from Dr. Douglas. I would argue that Dr Murphy is one of the most intelligent vets in all of Alberta. Dr. Douglas on the other hand is horrible. I brought my toy poodle Tara to Britannia Kingslands vet because she refused to walk long distances, acutely became extremely reactive and aggressive, was yelping in pain when people picked her up, was having panic, had anxiety attacks every night and became a completely different dog. Dr. Douglas barely looked at her and told me she looks fine. I was frustrated with that answer and went to Dr. Murphy. Turned out Tara had brain cancer. She eventually started having seizures and was put down by Dr. Douglas. Dr. Douglas was very rude didn't even read her file as to why she was being put down came into the room as I was sitting crying because I had to euthanize my dog and started interrogating me about why I was euthanizing my dog because she didn't read the file stating she was having 3 minute long seizures due to brain cancer... She's a horrible vet and I highly recommend you never go to her but on the flipside Dr. Murphy is an absolutely amazing vet and I would go to her a million times over

I have another regular vet that I have been taking my cats to for years for their vaccines/ check-up; However, this clinic is a lot closer to my house, and I would not hesitate to bring my boys here for any immediate issues or concerns with them! :)

We took our skinny pig Snort in to get a cyst removed. The veterinarian was really lovely and professional, and explained the procedure in detail. She did a good job and Snort was happy and back to normal almost as soon as we got home, no infections or problems with her stitches. I have to say they are amazing! I had brought my dog Sasha into see Elaine Murphy, as Sasha had a lump on her tail they did X-rays, blood work and found out that it was a tumour and they had to remove it. In saying this they had removed the lump and we tought at that point we would have to cut her tail off but again Elaine and her staff were amazing and with long term care and cleaning and changing the bandage regularly the lump went away! Hi highly recommend Britaannia Kingsland!! Thank you so much Elaine and staff for everything!! :)

I came to this vet clinic only because I live around the corner. I have to share this review because I have been so happy with the way they have treated both me and my rescue dog Sofie. Everyone who works there is so knowledgeable and friendly. I have been pleasantly surprised that at each visit the staff go out of their way with helpful tips and you can tell they genuinely LOVE dogs! Good friendly staff. I brought my dog in with a broken dew claw nail, it cost me $250!!!! :0. Same thing happened to my other dog a couple months later, I took him somewhere else and it cost me $26!? Britannia Kingsland did give me a bunch of antibiotics that the other did not but even with out those it was still over $100 more expensive for the same service. The work done was great and the staff was friendly. I'm not rich though and glad it doesn't cost that much when I myself break a nail. To be clear, good service, friendly staff, but maybe shop around if price is of high importance to you.

I do not normally write negative reviews but I felt very upset and disappointed in the service, and the response that I received when I did voice concerns. I took my very sick dog in and was seen by a vet in this clinic who also was very concerned about how my dog was presenting. He did a very thorough exam and was very good with my dog and with explaining things to me. This appointment which included blood tests came to just under $400.00 which I promptly paid without question. The vet was very concerned for my dog and explained if conditions worsened overnight to take her to the 24 hour emergency clinic right away. I was also told that I would be contacted the next day by a vet to give me the results of the blood test and to check on my dogs condition. After a sleepless night with my dog, I awaited for a call and was neither given the follow up call as promised or so much as a courtesy call to check on my dog. When I finally got the call two days later, I stated this was not good service and I wanted some form of compensation. It was first stated that this was no one’s fault, however I felt that I paid top dollar for a poor service. And what was promised was never delivered. The vet did call two days later indicating all blood tests were acceptable, and my once very sick dog now appears to be healthy. I will not be attending this clinic in the future.

We really wanted to like this place but unfortunately had several bad experiences. It seems like they overcharge and are mainly focused on selling you insurance. Watch out for additional costs. We called to set up blood work to ensure our dog is healthy to get spayed. When we picked her up they said she needed to have a fecal examination as well. Of course we got it because we want what's best for our pet. It was an additional 65$. We got a folder after the examination that basically had a receipt and a bunch of pamphlets selling insurance. No actual information on her examination. No records. We never got a call regarding her stool sample results. But the worst part was when we called to check on her blood work to make sure she's ok they told us they never did any blood work. We were blown away that we paid around 150$ for things that our new vet said are very unnecessary.

I have been a client of Kingsland Britannia clinic since 2000. They have been amazing with all of my pets. When my cat was 17 years old we had her put down & the staff were incredibly compassionate. Now I have 2 dogs, one who was quite sick as a puppy. They diagnosed him as a parvo puppy & I credit them with saving his life. He is now 10 and in great health. I have used all the vets in the clinic as I book according to my schedule (and they are usually very accommodating) - they are equally professional and caring. If I have any issues they always follow up with me at home which I appreciate.

When our cat had to get emergency surgery the vet techs reassured us that they gave him lots of cuddles and they seem really sincere. Their prices are fair and I feel very comfortable having my pets in their care. I can’t recommend this vet clinic highly enough!

I have a dog with a compromised immune system and Dr. Murphy is the first vet out of 4 my dog has gone to who was able to make her better (she had different issues which Dr. Murphy either fixed or is treating). She is very knowledgeable both on conventional medicine and holistic (my dog needs both ). She is always taking courses which is important in the field of medicine. The other vets who work there too are great!

I switched to this clinic with my new puppy as it was more convenient than my prior vet's office (who were very good but parking was a nightmare). From the moment I walked in the door, it was obvious that the clinic wants to provide a pleasant atmosphere and experience for clients and staff alike. It's bright, airy and the examination rooms are very roomy. It smells clean without smelling of chemicals, and they have a great supply of food and treats. Dr Hamill has been fabulous to work with, and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. I'm so happy I made the switch.

Friendly, knowledgable and informative My wife and I feel very fortunate that we have we have this clinic in our neighbourhood where our two boys, Charlie and Kipper have been going since they were pups. In fact ,they always look foward to going for a visit ,for their 6 week nail trims. From the staff at reception ,to the staff in the back ,to the trio of veterinarians , Dr Murphy, Dr Hamill and Dr Douglas are 3 of the most educated and caring vets we've ever met. Never feel rushed at appointments as they always have time for our questions and or concerns regarding our two Jack Russels who are VERY ACTIVE!!! :) From battered squirrel fights to back aliments to bee stings ,they are always there for the boys if they need some attention. In todays world where we are all feeling rushed and customer service is waning , Britannia clinic makes us as pet owners feel confident that our boys have the best care and advice possible for them and they make us as people feel welcomed as well HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!! The staff are unbelievably nice and truly care for the animals. We took our sweet pup to a few clinics throughout the city and by far Britannia is our favourite. They were very respectful of our decisions on how to move forward with treatment, never gave us a bill that we didn’t understand and they are quite reasonably priced. Good service but I felt like they just wanted my money. recommending unnecessary tooth removal of a puppy tooth of 600$. Also was not interested in paying them 70$ pet check before a vacation. I did not mind the first one but a second fee after only a month ....not ever going back

I wouldn't recommend taking small animals here. I took my guinea pig a couple months ago because I'd noticed him limping, and the vet was really rough during the exam. She also took him into a back room without me, which made me uncomfortable. I got the medicine to help my piggy, but overall it wasn't the best experience and I would instead recommend Calgary Avian & Exotic Pet Clinic for birds and other small pets.

Baxter (my dog) and I love Britannia Kingsland Veterinary Clinic. Baxter was sick last summer and the staff was so helpful and informative. They even answered some questions I had over the phone so that I didn't have to go in. They are all very kind and gentle with my dog. I would highly recommend them (and Baxter is all better now, thanks to their help!).

Our dogs have been patients at Britannia Kingsland for over 10 years. When we get out of the car, they know the exact path to the clinic's door and are happy to be there. The vets and staff are very professional, caring and responsive to our concerns. They do not order tests unnecessarily or suggest buying dog food at the clinic (as opposed to Costco or anywhere else). They care about our pets as much as we do and as if they were their own pets. If one dog is in for an appointment, they always ask about the other one. Highly recommended.

Ok. So normally I don't review but wow. We came in months ago for a dog with what we thought was a bad hip. Xrays and tests later it was said upper back. And she has an allergic reaction to something. Pay for oils. Metacam and prepay for 4 shots for back issue. I have other issues but the problem is she had a stable simple raw diet (no issues) beef. Rice. Pumpkin. Vet says oh well beef is one of the worst allergens.. Actually no, chicken is. Through wife forcing info out of vet it became clear. One this place is a cash grab toting natural holistic approach but I fact push meds at high price ans 2... Not wanting to admit that product they told us we NEED to buy and need to buy from them is likely the cause. My dog has hated fish her entire life and the oils sold to us are fish based. And here hot spots and red bleeding mouth and paws started after consuming these products. I'd like to point out they saw front paw and didn't notice back paw (which was bleeding a Daya go). I don't tell people to not go to a business. But if you truely love your animal go somewhere else. I'm. Not saying they aren't good with some issues as even a bad Dr can make some issues go away. I've owned animals my whole life from cats and dogs to livestock so vets have always been in my life. Research options.. Unfortunately reviews aren't accurate I understand..dont waste your money.

I've been taking my dog to this vet clinic since day 1 and will not take her anywhere else but here. The staff really care about the well being of your animal and are very compassionate. My dog kallie had a lot of tummy problems as a puppy and they would always phone a couple days after I had gone it to see how she was doing. On one occasion I had to take kallie to the emergency vet as it was after hours and the next day Britannia vet clinic phoned me to find out what had happened and provided suggestions for me to make kallie more comfortable.Truly an amazing clinic with amazing staff.

Do NOT go here. I recently got my miniature Australian Shepherd or we can a half ago from poor owners. I’m having her shots updated so I read reviews on this clinic and decided to take her here. These reviews are wrong they do not care for your animals. Keep in mind my puppy is under 2 pounds. When my puppy was getting a simple check up the lady was checking her ears And told me to hold the dog So she could check its mouth afterwards. Because the dog doesn’t like its mouth touched it was having a hard time staying still. So the VET proceeds to poke my dog in the eyeball so she yelps and her mouth will be open. I was livid. And judging by how she was acting I don’t think it was an accident. Not only did she not have a vet tech in the room with her helping her she told me that I was doing a bad job of so she could check its mouth afterwards. Because the dog doesn’t like its mouth touched it was having a hard time staying still. So the vet proceeds to poke my dog in the eyeball so she yelps and her mouth will be open. I was livid. And judging by how she was acting I don’t think it was an accident. Not only did she not have a vet tech in the room with her helping her but then she proceeded to shame me about the shots not being updated on time. I just got the puppy and I’m not the bad owner here.
