The doctor was compassionate and caring about our dog who was near the end and was of a great comfort to us.He was excellent as was the lady receiving us.Thank you..Scrappy is resting and did not suffer..

we had to euthanize our dog last night after a medical emergency. the doctor was amazing; she took him in promptly, addressed all of our concerns, provided different options and handled our difficult dog with experience and provided great comfort. the doctor even consulted other specialists to make sure we had all the answers we needed before we made our decision, which helped us immensely. we are very deeply grateful to this clinic for everything they did for us.

We came into the pet hospital last Friday evening thinking we were going to have to put our sixteen-year-old poodle down. To us he showed signs of a stroke, loss of consciousness, couldn't walk, eyes rolling back Within 20 minutes they knew exactly what was wrong. Turns out he had found a Marijuana cookie in the garbage that he got into. The next day he woke up looking and acting like a pup. Big lesson learned but very thankful for their expertise and knowledge. They even called the next day to check up on him. Would highly recommend their services.

Took my dog, Silas, there today after he was lethargic and was shaking. The staff were wonderful and treat Silas with care and were happy to answer all my questions. Yes, it is expensive and you have to wait if your dog isn't critical, but that is all emergency vets. Great service and I would take my dog there if he ever has another emergency.

Great place. My dog is going through pancreatitis and he had to go there Saturday night-Sunday evening since our vet was closed. I was so nervous leaving him with people I didn’t know, but the vets and the vet techs that work there are amazing. They are so kind! I called 4x while he was there and they made me feel so much better. I would definitely recommend !

My regular vet referred me to this after hours vet clinic for my kitty who got into lillies. They were great, from the very first examination right until it was safe to say she was okay. The lady at the desk explained the charges, had compassion for my girl and the doctor himself was great as well. Explained about her blood work, updated me on her condition. Between them and Tweed Vet, they saved my cat. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. Thanks for saving Sally!!!

Our 14 year old Shih Tzu had fallen down half a set of stairs and was in a great deal of pain. Even though it was a busy Saturday afternoon, the Vet took his time explaining treatment options as well as how the pricing system worked. As it turned out Ruby had not sustained any serious injuries but would have to be monitored closely for a few days and home. We were treated very well by the folks at the Pet Hospital and left feeling that everything was going to be ok. As well we received a follow up call Saturday evening. Thank you once again. I’ve had to take my dog here twice (unfortunately) for emergencies. I have to say that both experiences have been fantastic. They have kept me calm and it’s great knowing they’re available when required. Are the prices high? Yes, it’s an emergency vet. Is it completely worth it? Yes, in my opinion. It’s the same anywhere I’ve been when it comes to emergency vets!

B S

Very expensive but paying for the convenience of after hours. The vet that worked last night was so compassionate toward myself and my SadieBeans as she crossed the rainbow bridge. Thank you so much for being so kind.

Huebert Farnsworth

I called every vet in belleville this morning trying to get help for my buddy, hes 15 and in bad shape, they all referred me to this place because the local vets aren't seeing any new patients?, anyhow I was quoted $612 to have my border collie euthanized... he weights about 70 pounds. Even the lady I spoke to on the phone said that the price is high but they're the only emergency place around. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone, profiteering off people's love for there pets/friends.

Jessica Shaw

Been here a few times and they're always amazing. Very caring and helpful staff. I can not say enough good things about this place.

Visited the animal hospital Sunday evening after hours as my Rag Doll male cat was in excruciating pain suffering from urinary tract infection causing blood in the urine. I learned this is very common in rag doll breeds as they are susceptible to kidney failure and urinary tract infections. Both Doctor Mohammed and Vet Tech were amazing! They were extremely knowledgeable, professional, comforting, empathetic and compassionate! They treated our sweet Prince with such great care! We were given our best options and provided with antibiotics, pain medication, inflammation injection and urinary care prescription food. Since starting his medication Prince has been doing much better and is starting to eat and drink again and bleeding has since stopped. Cost of medication and check up after hours was very reasonable at $395 and worth it as Prince is starting to feel much better. Big thank you to the Prince Edward County Animal Hospital Team for your excellent care! Greatly appreciated!!

Mike Gallo

Great experience! Thank you to Ashley and the vet who stayed almost an hour after they finished work to look after my cat.

Dr. Burns and Pam were wonderful.

Do not go here unless your pet is going to die without immediate treatment. lazy and expensive, pill pushers. Had to take my dog to my own vet 2 days later due to improper treatment at this place. Crazy expensive. Over $200 to walk in the door then the price goes up fast after that for anything they do.

Darryl Deforge

While out of town our 15 year old girl (our dog) had an emergency and needed to be put down. They were very caring and gentle with her.

Heather Symons

If i could do a minus i would,I called Friday night to have my 19yr old cat that was losing his battle with cancer down . I was give a price of 552$ to put my cat down that was barely breathing. Because I couldn't afford to pay that kind of money and no payment plans my poor boy suffered till this morning. It cost me less then 100$ to put him to sleep at my vet . The person or persons running this place see animals and our love for them as a cash cow #richoffus ,#newpricinglaws

I had a puppy that was spaded a week ago today , on Sunday she blew her stitches and was in need of a vet as her intestines were hanging out, I called the after hour emergency number at 10:30am and was told a vet was not available until 6pm, reviewing all options and praying to find a vet sooner, I was left with no choice but to wait until a vet was “AVAILABLE “, I sat on the phone for hours and received a call that my 6pm appointment was moved until 7pm , and that my puppy was going to be put in priority sequence according to other emergencies , I indicated that she had her insides on her outsides and how concerned I was, only to be told to drive her to Kingston immediately, well with the hwy 49 construction and the ferry running every half hour by the time we got to Kingston , the vet in their clinic would be there...I was HIGHLY recommended to get her to Kingston because they knew she was in trouble , but when told by a vet tech from another resource to just take her there, I was told they couldn’t take her on until a vet was on premises...not even to be accessed by a vet tech ..long story short I called every vet in the area and spoke to a veterinarian at Bell Animal Hospital and he told me to bring her right in, he opened his clinic and performed life saving surgery on our bull dog that was half the price of her spay, people be aware , if you love your pets as much as we do you have alternative options as all vets are grouped with one facility...call Bell animal hospital and get the service your pet family member deserves ...vets deserve holidays as does everyone but when a system fails you that you are willing to pay for ...something needs to be done...if your pet “family member” was hit by a car would you want to watch them suffer for 8 hrs and die because no one was available, I wouldn’t and I stayed on the phones to get help...Bell Animal Hospital didn’t ask questions, asked how long until I could get there and didn’t even request payment...our “family member” came first..”. He saved her life and I called our regular vet at 7am and explained my horry, if all vets from Belleville, Prince Edward County and Trenton are counting on this clinic, a lot of animals will suffer unnecessarily , my puppy had a fever over 102 and if left any longer would have gone septic...and may not be here today! Moral of the story don’t let corporate cost cutting take your family member away...pets don’t have Ohip cards but are family members so deserve to be treated as such.. call Bell Animal Hospital!

The team at the emergency hospital has been accommodating on extremely short notice. I'm grateful this service exists in our community and am impressed by the level of customer service we received.

Beware of an upcharge of $63 for "Non Shareholder" on your bill. It was not disclosed and then charged. When confronted about it, they refuse to take it off the bill. Be sure to ask for a written list up front of all service charges so you are clear exactly what you are paying for.

We brought our pet to this hospital on a weekend during emergency-only hours. They were dealing with a bunch of serious cases, and our case wasn't an emergency. After an hour of waiting the doctor came to collect our pet, and got him all fixed up. As visitors to the county without a regular vet here, we appreciated the kind and efficient service.

Brought my pup in - believing an eye infection - not emergancy but it was on a holiday day - nowhere else to go. We understood we would have to wait for others who were in emergency circumstances but after a 3 1/2 hour wait and an extremely rude receptionist - we finally went home with no treatment. We will never go back after receiving such horrible customer service. It sickens me to know I was going to pay your fee of $260 for an ‘assessment’.

Josh Coghlan

I love this place because It's the best place to take your pet in ☺️☺️

Ron Ireland

I called for some advice regarding my older female dogs sudden urine leakage issue she was having. After an excellent discussion with the vet she gave us some excellent advice. Thank you for your kindness, empathy, and compassion.

We had to put our sweet baby Teddybear down at this hospital. What wonderful and caring staff. They gave us as much time with our Teddy to say goodbye.

Yesterday was our second time using this vet service and our dog received excellent care. A long wait time, but it was a busy day and was due to triage. We would gladly wait knowing that pets with the most serious medical needs were prioritized, as that’s what we would want for our pups in an emergency! Instructions for medication were very clearly communicated, and our little girl is almost back to normal already. It was a pleasant surprise to receive a follow-up call tonight from Dr. Singh checking-in on our dog’s progress! Thank you so much for offering an after-hours vet service in our area. It’s a great comfort to know that a visit is always an option in an emergency!

Andrea Boddam

They were very compassionate with my dog at the end of his life and helped when making a very difficult decision. They even let us still be with him at the end even with covid protocols in place. I hope to never have to use them again (for obvious reasons), but am glad they are there in an emergency.

My husband and I had to rush our little Morkie to the emergency vets last night. It was an extremely scary and a very traumatic situation for us, including poor Roscoe. We got to the clinic and they rushed him right in no questions asked as they could clearly see what was happening with him. I was absolutely beside myself and the wonderful receptionist was so kind and patient with us while we worked to fill out his paperwork. She came out a little while after and told us what they were doing to him and assured us that they were looking after and doing their best on our little boy. After waiting for a bit on pins and needles out comes our baby in the receptionists arms ready to go home all put back together. (Insert Mom cry here). She gave us a list of things to watch for and sent us on our way. ???? A little while after arriving home we had a few more questions regarding pain meds and a cone for him to keep him from getting at the problem area through the night, so we could all try and get some rest. The very compassionate lovely lady vet got on the phone with us and put our minds at ease, but agreed a cone would be best, so my husband drove back and picked one up(which was all ready for him when he got there). I cannot say enough good about this clinic and their staff! They went above and beyond 1000 times over in one of the scariest and shall we say bizarre medical emergencies I’ve ever seen!! Their level of service, compassion and professionalism was bar none and we are forever grateful for the help we received last night! We whole heartedly recommend this wonderful clinic! Thank you for your service.

No vets on site.. opens at 6, but no vet showed up until 7. Taking blood here costs $600, at local vet it's $160. Not sure why the difference in price, they all go to the same labs.

The staff are dedicated and professional. I thank them for being there and for giving of their time and knowledge. We are lucky to have this kind of pet hospital in our area.

Travis Carter

Not happy at all I dont even give them 1 star spent 500.00 to be sent home with no help NOT HAPPY at all

Emma Batten

The staff here are extremely kind, thorough, and helpful. Their rates were very affordable compared to other emergency clinics I've visited. The staff really went out of their way to be kind and empathetic with us and our pet. We are so thankful for the care that we received today.

Melissa Knapp

I am truly disgusted by how this place can run. Yes, it’s great to have an emergency pet hospital BUT what good is it if they charge you 4x the amount of a normal vet, don’t really communicate the charges and tell you basically if you don’t have $3000+ at this minute, you’ll have to put your pet down (for 4x the normal price might I add again). I wish they would work with you on payment plans because not many people have that much money to spend right then and there. For someone who is supposed to care so much about animals, we basically got a “if you can’t afford $3000+, too bad, you’ll have to pay to put her down.” I’m truly enraged and saddened about our experience. Luckily we found another vet who was still open, normal priced, and took payment plans.

roger lough

The vet was an absolute idiot and after having to deal with his stupidity, I had to pay a bloody outrageous bill.

Melissa Koning

If I could rate it a zero I would... its heartbreaking...

Rodney Woodside

After a short phone consult, they determined my cat required immediate interventions and instructed us to come in right away. They took our cat in, explained everything that was happening, and provided treatment until we could transfer our cat to our vet the next morning. Very professional and knowledgeable staff. There are a lot of reviews focusing on price. Yes they will be more expensive than your routine vet. They are an emergency service. They operate in the evenings/nights and 24/7 on weekends. They need to charge more to retain quality staff to work these undesireable hours. As pet owners, it is our responsibility to ensure that we can afford to take care of our pets, we all knew that when we agreed to take them into our homes. Its a tough pill to swallow, but we should not be attacking the services that devote themselves to helping us in our time of need. Thank you for all that you do. You have saved my boy's life.

Ken Farrell

The rates this place charges is obscene. Our dog is no better today. Wanted $1600 for 3 stiches. Charged $400 just for the visit.

Wendy Macey

Helped us and our boy in the middle of the night, were supportive and explained everything allowing us to make the right choices in care. Sent a follow-up email to check in. So appreciated!

Brenda Bond

Dr Singh and Ashley were absolutely wonderful both are very compassionate. Our dog was very sick, Ashley and Dr Singh new exactly what was wrong with her. Glad we live close to a emergency vet clinic like this.

Lisa Walt

I had the worst experience at this veterinary clinic. I took my cat in for an emergency appointment, while explaining how the cat had been acting and what led me to this emergency visit, the assistant/receptionist was extremely rude, cut me off, spoke over me, and would not let me explain anything. The vet then came in, I was hoping this would be a better experience, the vet seemed friendly but after a 2min examination told us she didn't have much information as to why the cat was sick. For 2mins with the vet, and the assistant being so rude we were charged $400 and sent home with no information.

I took my little dog over early in the morning Sunday as she was in distress with her breathing and had a funny cough. We waited an hour before they came out and in 20 minutes reported she had a significant heart murmur but wasn't critical they weren't too concerned because she up barking. "You can come and get her if you want she doesn't like it here" she said. I was to take her regular vet on Monday. As time progressed I called them back at around 9 that evening to say she was worse and not very responsive. She says well you know she has a murmur and you could bring her back but some of our equipment is broken not working and there are only two us here and we'll be doing a surgery so won't be answering the door for awhile. You could take her to Guelph but that's expensive. She jumped and she hawesd a bit more says well we do have some hospital care here but she's better off seeing her own vet . She put me off as best she could until I got frustrated and hung up. They are connected to Loyalist animal hospital were I go and I was shocked at her hohum attitude. We'll she is seventy in humans yrs know with a little giggle. My little dog died in my arms at 11 o'clock that night I called to tell her this stating they told me she wasn't critical. We'll that's too bad she says then perks up asking me if I was interested in purchasing funeral items they had to offer. Let's go for the dough right. I got a bill for $220 before I left. She finished stating that they were only a REFFERAL service you know. Funny the sign reads HOPITAL EMERGENCY SERVICES. This little pup suffered for hours it broke my heart and I will never never recommend anyone use this service. I have let my friends know already who are animals lovers with pets and they will tell their friends. This little dog stayed by my side all through my cancer treatments and was only 11 yrs old. Both her and I deserved and expected than this. Susan Short

I've been here twice with two dogs on weekends, and each time we get excellent service. The vet techs do an incredible job receiving the pets into their care, and we have always left feeling confident that our concerns were addressed and we could rely on them later if we needed further help. I'd imagine their work often feels tough and thankless, but I hope they know that their availability as one of the only pet hospitals open over the weekend is incredibly appreciated for those of us who care deeply for our pets.

Eric Toussaint

Went to the vet with our little pup, we were told she had no feelings for pain in her hind legs after being driven over and that she would be paralized, suggested a nerve doc in toronto and very expensive procedures. After a costly night at the hospital and lots of sadness we took her to our vet in Northumberland the next day, as confirmed by the hospital, she had broken pelvis and femur, but said no pain was normal due to the trauma she had been through and that she would recover well, now, our pup is back to 100% and will likely suffer from arthritis. So glad we went to our vet since we were ready to put her out of her misery.

Robbie Bromley

Horrible place. Very rude unqualified people working after hours.

Michael Roesler

My dog was very sick and I brought him to the emergency clinic. $600 later I was no better off. I had to take him to my regular vet to get treatment. Waste of money.

JANE ARNOLD

We brought our 6 month old puppy here twice for after hour care. She was lethargic and in pain. You misdiagnosed her with a slipped disc when she actually has meningitis. Not to mention your inconceivable rates for assessments-$220? Plus $600 for an xray? That is completely opportunistic, you are taking advantage of scared people who will do anything for their fur baby in a time of crisis. You guys are shameful...we are lucky our competant vet was able to see our dog right away and diagnose, treat her and give me reassurance to trust their opinion, plus charged me less than half of what you do for just walking through your door. I didnt want to put my dog through an over 1 hour drive to Peterborough which was the only other option open, and I really regret that now. If we didn't have a regular vet my dog would not be here. Imagine having to live with that guilt.

Sherry Ribeiro (Shaz)

This is the worst place for animals my friend brought her 6 month old puppy there in an emergency situation the pup had appellant head trauma, as soon as she walked in she was charged 280.00 then was told to exray the puppies head would be an additional 900.00 when she didn't have that kind of money could she make arrangements she was told NO 900.00 or no cray so what alternative did she have she was given pain meds and told to keep the pup calm well she got home completely devastated she went up to her room with baby a few hours later the puppy her best friend DIED I am reporting this as these prices are absurd you let little Minnie die because you wouldnt take payments you are Terrible people and I would never recommend this place only go if your rich or you want to give your baby a death sentence

Anthony Georgieff

All they care about is taking your money. I would advise to stay away from this clinic.

Kai Murray

Had to take my 13 year old dog here to be put down Due to health reasons on 02/17/21 the front desk clerk was very rude! Until it came to payment! I had my dog cremated she told me 5-7 days for return It was a month this Wednesday March 10 2021! I called for an update an the lady didn’t wanna look in to it until I started to raise my voice an get upset. See would only then give me an email address for her manager an told me it was the paw print taking so long! After I wrote an email 24+ hours went buy an I never heard a thing! then we got in contact with gateway animal cremation! An found out it wasn’t the paw print taking so long!! After this all happens the vet finally emailed me back! An wouldn’t answer any questions! Now I have wrote a couple emails an they will not get back to me!! So if you deal with this place! You will get horrible customer service, be way over charged An lied too on a service they sold you!!!!!!! Edit: it’s been over a week and no body will email me back! Absolutely horrible Customer service! The owner will comment on your review but yet won’t pick up the phone! Highly recommend staying away from this place!

Kadeesha Shattraw

My dog had been puking blood and pooping blood. It was 2 am and I was in a panic and worried...my vet wasnt answering their after hours phone so I decided to give this vet a call just to ask a few questions...they refused to give me any advice or anything because my vet is bell animal hospital. I even told them I just wanted to ask a few questions but I guess that was to hard for a vet to do. This place is a disgrace!

Daniel Massicotte

We had an emergency service and an unparalleled welcome. As well as a reassuring follow-up two days later.

Brittany Canning

Brought my Chinchilla to this vet over the weekend when she injured her tail. I must say I am very impressed. Both the Vet and the Tech were incredibly friendly and knowledgable. They were very cautious while dealing with such a fragile animal and I can tell they genuinely cared about getting her all fixed up. My only complaint would have to be the incredibly high prices. Over $400 for an exam fee, some bandaging and antibiotics. However, they were very understanding of the fact that we are tight for money and did what they can to help. I also feel it is worth it to come across a Vet who genuinely cares and is so knowledgeable.

Great place the receptionist was super would highly recommend them I think all the negative reviews are because you see them at your worst times when your animal suffering

Alexandra Larose

Don't be fooled by some of the bad reviews. It almost influenced us not to go but we had to take our dog Marcus quickly since we noticed some blood in his urine. We called before coming in on Saturday morning and were very pleased with Erin initial phone conversation assessing the situation. She was lovely and very professional. She was able to give us an idea on the cost of the visit and this was very accurate and there was no surprises at the end when came the time to pay. I drove Marcus to the clinic, and the women who came to meet Marcus and I outside was very friendly and gentle. She took Marcus in and said Erin would be calling me in a few minutes and she did. She confirmed a few details discussed earlier on initial call and asked if she had my permission to proceed with the urine test. She confirmed that she had received the history from Marcus vet. She said that the vet on site would be calling me shortly with results. The vet called me 30 minutes later to discuss and confirmed it was a urinary tract infection and went over many details and other observations. I found her to be very thorough which I really appreciated. She was also very calm, friendly. I had my dog back within 10 minutes after that call. 5 starts for this pet emergency. Everyone was friendly and was very compassionate. I would not hesitate to refer someone there.

Brooke Armstrong

The vet tech Pam was AMAZING! Took the time to talk to me and gave me information that was invaluable. Had to bring my sick puppy in, and the vet was very thorough and gave me 2 different treatment protocol printouts so I could decide the extent of treatment and extras I wanted based on what I could afford. My puppy is doing much better now. I gave it 3 stars because it really depends on the vet on duty (had a less than pleasant experience there before with an uncompassionate female vet)

Rick Mosher

T Schwagz

Way over priced and take advantage of desperate people.

Lauren tremblay

Absolutely HORRIFIC experience ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT EVER TAKE AN ANIMAL THERE EVER AGAIN, $3000 FOR BLOOD WORK AND X RAYS AND IV, LIED TO ME WHEN I ASKED IF MY CAT COULD HAVE BEEN POISONED, VET ON DUTY WOULD NOT SEE ME FOR 40 MIN - at any other vet this visit would cost 500-900$. I went there because my cat got into something poisonous, after filling out all the paper work and waiting to get seen, the receptionist takes us to one of the rooms, and leaves us sitting there FOR ANOTHER 40 MINUTES because the vet (male, didnt catch his name) didn’t want to see another patient before the shift change. Then, when Dr. Jennifer gets there, we can hear her telling her colleague how they can be held liable if anything happened to my cat in that time (red flag!!!). Dr Jennifer then proceeds to tell me there’s no way my cat if suffering from poison (I raised concern that it may be a result of burning scented oils) and assured me that’s not the case and it seems chronic (remember this for later)... mind you she hasn’t done test yet. When she comes back with a treatment plan, THE BILL SAYS 2900$. Now, I understand charging a little extra for night shift premium, even 1500$ would be reasonable, BUT ALMOST $3000?! THREE TIMES AS MUCH AS ANY OTHER VET/EMERGENCY VET. For blood work and x rays and IV fluids? This bill didn’t even include surgery. Also, she told me my cat was going to die if I didn’t do every bit of that treatment plan plus an extra 500$ for possible medication - so that brings the bill up to about 3500$ (Needless to say I just got my cat iv fluid and antibiotics and then took her to another vet). Oh ya, and not to mention, I scheduled an appointment with MY vet a few days later, and sure as hell, the first thing on that report is “all signs of poison ingested” THIS VET JENNIFER SWORE UP AND DOWN that there was no way that was the cause. I understand to an extent if she was trying to make me feel better (as I was sobbing the entire time I was there, this lady is telling me my 4 month old kitten is going to die) but telling me the EXACT OPPOSITE of the correct information is negligent and frankly unprofessional. Never ever walking in that lawsuit waiting to happen ever again.
