We had a very sick dog with chronic painful skin conditions. The doctors were great and very supportive through a very tough time in our lives. They held our hand all the way to the end of her life and were always offering options to ease her pain and suffering.
Amazing, professional, and kind staff. They were recommended by my brother and I was more impressed than I hoped with how thorough they are with checking up on my dog. Thank you. We will return for another check up soon.
Professional and kind staff with well priced services. During COVID they have a good system going to pick up and drop off pets at your car.
I also wanted to share my positive review of this place. My 6 year old cat has constipation issues, sometimes so bad that he has to go into the vet for several enemas and overnight stays. Over the past two years, he's been in much better health (due to us following a special diet and increasing his outdoor time), but about 6 months ago I thought he was getting sick again (usually I can tell about 3 days before he's become seriously ill). I tried to get him in at a few vets, but no one could take him. I went to this place as a last resort, put off by the negative reviews. The result was that my cat was actually not having another episode of constipation, but instead had an infection deep in his ear from a cat fight. The vet knew this right away, gave him a few shots of anti-biotics and pain killers, charged me a fair rate for the shots and the visit, and offered me a deal on his vaccine updates after the infection was gone. The doctor could have easily gone along with the idea that my cat needed an enema and overnight care (a bill of $300 - $500, the most I've ever paid to get him care was $800 in one go, death is the other option), but was honest, instantly aware of what was wrong, and quick on top of it. (If anyone goes off about how much money I put into my cat, I don't really care how much it costs, I'm a broke student but I'll eat ramen for a few months if it means my best friend gets to live.) We now buy our cat food from this vet regularly (he's on a vet diet), and if I ever need to take my cat in again, I'll be bringing him here. Friendly staff, friendly doctors, and honest service. That's awesome.
Tried to take my cat to get a microchip. I had warned them the night before she really doesn't like vets. They had planned to put the chip in, but quickly discovered my cat wasn't going to sit still. So, had to make another trip and reschedule to have sedation to get the microchip. I feel like this could have been done the first time with my warning, but maybe they were just being cautious
Dr. Giffin and staff are excellent. They have looked after my Bailey boy since he was 6 weeks old. Thank you Tammy for taking the time for going over and above the call of duty.
I desperately wanted to like this place since it is close to home. That said location was one of the main reasons we chose it and the majority of reviews were positive. Sadly, after my 3rd visit we decided to switch vets. We adopted a senior dog in November and we wanted to make sure he was in tip top health considering he had some issues when surrendered. He was also doing some things such as excessive licking that were cause for concern. We were told the licking might be a food allergy and were sold a prescription diet to try. After some time, the licking did subside to a mild amount. We went over some other concerns I had, he was examined, his anals were drained, and everything else seemed normal. We left feeling good about our choice to come here. Some time later, I noticed that he was excessively drinking water and getting up frequently in the night to pee. We made an appointment to inquire about that as it didn't seem normal. The day before our appointment he managed to rip his dew claw to a dangling bleeding mess. I asked that the appointment be moved up in the day which they were able to nicely accommodate (although in the end we waited over an hour to be seen from that time). The dew claw thankfully was a clean rip and came right off. I asked if they could be so kind while they bandaged him to cut the other nail for us. They said they would. They didn't. The following week it was hanging off him. No blood and it fell off in the night but still. We then discussed the excessive drinking. They said they could take a sample and see if it was something serious but that would cost x amount and since it wasn't going on very long we might want to hold off. It was up to us. I appreciated something not being forced on us in case it wasn't necessary and might just be a one off. But then, the vet brought up that his ear was crusty. Not knowing any better I said 'oh, we are getting him groomed tomorrow'. And that was that. Now sometime has passed and we took him in recently for his shots. Since his ear has remained gunky ever since I asked it be looked at. Might as well kill two birds with one stone especially since you are paying $70 for the visit. A different vet from the last told us that a crusty, gunky ear is NEVER normal and is a sign of infection. WHAT? You mean he's been living with an infection ALL THIS TIME? I was not very impressed. They took him to take a swab and run a test. He was given back to us while we waited. They said, yes its an infection and the staff will give us ear drops. The girl brought them out and went to walk away. I'm asked "how do we use these?" She gave us an explanation that didn't make me feel any better about putting something in my dogs ear. I asked if they had done it for today hinting it would be nice for them to show us. But, they said they already had. I got home and thought 'that is odd' he was given back to us while we waited for results and yet they were already put in? Now I'm noticing odd behaviour again which includes smacking his lips, licking his nose, and his paws. getting up frequently in the night to drink and need to pee. I've managed to look at his teeth today and they are BAD. I'm not a vet but, I don't think they can get that bad this quickly or at least on one of the three visits they could have looked and said 'you might want to get them cleaned'. I did actually ask about his teeth on the first visit and what we could do to help that isn't just brushing as he does not like my fingers near his snoot. We were told nothing but brushing works. I know it's on us to have been doing something we were given no time line of when they would need to be done and I assumed they weren't that bad. As I said, I appreciate not having stuff pushed on us but, suggestions for insuring he stays healthy. Preventative measures would be nice. It feels like this place wants something to get bad so you have to go back.
This veterinary clinic has moved from an easy access building to one that needs more signs to find the entrance. They provided us with a drug to calm our cat down and she was VERY relaxed. Next time I will give only half a dose if I can. The reception was good and friendly. I find the costs more than anticipated, but our choices are limited. It is a clean facility though, and I like that.
We've gone to Hastings Veterinary a few times, and have always found the staff to be friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. They have never been pushy with services or have recommended a treatment that my cat didn't really need, which is truly admirable. When a course of treatment has been suggested, we were shown why and the option to proceed or not has always been in our hands. We will continue taking our cat here!
Very friendly and accommodating. Knowledgeable and compassionate.
This Veterinary has a very clean and professional environment with such nice staff, it's quite clear that they love what they do.
The entire staff have always been so helpful, kind and accommodating to our dogs needs. Their hours of operation are great, especially being open on weekends and their prices aren't insane like most others.
The entire staff is awesome and have been looking after my furry friends for many years now. Top notch service and care during these covid times.
I took my dog here twice last year and have been meaning to write a review. i have dealt with both Dr. Bajwa's and have no complaints. they are both very kind and caring towards my dog and show genuine care for animals. they took the time to explain the difference between a medication i am currently giving to my dog vs other options out there. also I have to say there is no pressure here, they tell you whats wrong and you make the call. thanks for the great service!
Whenever I go in the staff is always very friendly and helpful. They take the time to answer all my questions and make me feel like they care a great deal about helping the animals they have coming in however they can
My friend and I brought a stray dog in and they were FANTASTIC with him! He is hopefully being returned soon...
Super friendly staff. My family pets actually visit another vet in pitt meadows however when we need something quick hastings veterinary hospital is just around the corner and very dependable. I’m thankful for having them as a neighbour.
We LOVE the team at Hastings Veterinary Hospital, you can really tell that they care for your furry family members! The staff are always so friendly, kind, and patient and take the time to listen to your concerns and explain. I would give them 6 out of 5 stars if I could, my dog and cat are treated so well there that they are actually excited to go the vet!
They are like Family
Always a great experience. Staff is so friendly and treat your furry friends like family.
I was referred to Hastings Vet Hospital by a friend and so I had high hopes that it would be positive. I brought my little corgi in for a first visit after picking him up, along with all of his paperwork, gave him to the vet outside because you're not allowed to go in. I am fine with all of this. Upon returning for his second round of shots, I got a call from the Vet stating that since he is 12 weeks he is good for all of the shots, however my dog was only at 10 weeks. It turned out they inputed his birthday incorrectly, and couldn't get all of the shots that he needed during that visit. This was frustrating as they booked me for this day as I was going camping with my dog a few days after. After some back and forth, the Vet did confirm that you could give the second round of shots at 10 weeks. They confirmed they updated the information and stated the next round is due August 4th. Today, I got an email stating to book the appointment for the 4th and my dogs name was spelled incorrectly. I called the office and they advised that they actually don't have anything until the 17th. When I described the situation, the receptionist didn't offer to look into it at all and just said "I wish I could do more". There was absolutely NO ATTEMPT to help in this situation which now aligns with the careless attitude when inputing my dogs information. I would not suggest anyone bring their dog here, if they are this careless with the small things I would be concerned with how they approach any situation.
Great doctors. Excellent, caring, attentive staff. We feel very lucky to be close to this vet.
Very caring Veterinarians
My dog has feelings about going to the vet but I have found that Hastings Vet is really patient and caring with her, her anxiety, and overall they take their time to work with her which is really important to me as an anxious dog owner. Overall recommend them :)
I felt so scammed. I came in to buy suppliment that cost $2 but they charge $18 instead by adding dispensing fee. They told me I don't need to see the vet since it's not medicine but still want to charge a fee and took all my info so they can bother me with junk mail. I walked out and fuming. I hope no one ever goes there. Very dishonest and lies to your face. They should have their license revoked and reported to BBB.
Extraordinary kind doctor, nurse and tech helped our doggy get tested, diagnosed, and start getting effective treatment and recovering within a couple of hours. They also call to check in about your pet for the next couple weeks!
I have always had a great experience coming to this Veterinary clinic. My dog Dora is very healthy and (luckily) we don't frequent the vet's office... but she is a shelter dog, who can be very skittish and nervous, and Dr. Bajwa and staff …
They helped me right away with my sick dog, open all day, perfect for emergencies. The place is beautifully decorated and the personnel are very lovely and helpful.
Good place
Nothing worse than canceling a much awaited 3rd vaccine the night before...I won't be bringing my pup here again.
Our dog Zeus always is treated well when we go there. He may not love it , but the staff is so good with him
Great health care for our dog. Always pleasant.
I have been coming to this hospital for past 4-5 years with my cat "honey" who was taken care by vets and staff here with utmost care throughout my visit. I was compelled to write this review after going through all the negative reviews.. I firmly believe that everybody who is working in this premises are pet compassionate and especially their "cat love" is amazing. Vets explains things in detail and they know what they are doing. Highly recommended...
This is the second time I've been a satisfied customer. 6 years ago I had another cat who I brought here and these people really care. Don't worry about leaving your furkids in their skillful hands. I just had my new furkids (2 female) spayed and all went well. Will be back for future visits!
I've taken my puppy here multiple times and have always had professional service. Amazing team at Hasting Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. Shanahan and the staff at Hastings Veterinary are excellent. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a vet in the area.
When we had to have our 12 year old cat, Lilli, put down recently everyone at the clinic was so kind, caring and understanding yet professional it made things much easier to bear. After discussions and deciding this was the right course of action to take, the euthanasia procedure was fully explained to us, we were then taken into a separate quiet room where we were allowed to spend as much time as we needed, at each step of the procedure, to stay with our little lady and say goodbye to her properly. She went very peacefully and it was definitely as good an experience as having to have your cat put to sleep could have been. Thank you specifically to Dr. Alex, as well the others who helped us, everyone was very considerate and caring.
Very nice people, but it's a vet so they are always trying to make you spend more money
This team is only the best! I come from Squamish with my Dog, Xander, and Cat, Milo, for their professional services. Thank you for always being there for my fur family ????
Very knowledgeable people except that they are super expensive. Just to cut my rabbits nails they charged me $32 when anywhere else they would charge $10-$16 max.
Awesome staff.
My dog is almost 7 years old and has always gone to this vet. When he had kennel cough, Dr Bajwa (or his brother, I usually see either one of them) never pushed antibiotics on me. Also never pushed me to vaccinate my dog. They've always been friendly and one time they even waived the examination fee for me because my dog was fine. I've never encountered a rude receptionist there. The only reason I've been loyal to this vet is because I felt like they never tried to upsell/push me for extra treatments/pills/special food for my dog. As professionals, they do mention it sometimes but not at all in a pushy way nor even in a very convincing manner (which I appreciate). The only thing I didn't enjoy as much was the one time I went to have my dog's teeth cleaned (he had to go under as well), I was surprised that many of his teeth had to be pulled and a $300 turned quickly into over $500. But, I've asked other vets and they said it is very reasonable for that to happen because they don't know until they check whether or not the teeth have to be pulled. At the Oak hospital, just the cleaning itself without pulling teeth was about $1000 (I got a price quote for my dog). Overall, it was still cheaper and my dog seemed fine. The next time I go for a cleaning, however, I'd appreciate if the doctor would at least have an initial peek at my dog's mouth so that I can at least get an idea on what kind of bill I'm in for. I'm willing to listen to constructive criticisms about this vet, but aside from the lady whose cat unfortunately died during the spay, the comments don't seem to talk about specific facts on what happened so one can only assume they are based on a heated emotion. Despite the comments below, I'd still come back here.
The staff is very friendly and my cat has received good care during the initial visit. The warning is that when I called beforehand to do price checks to get my new kitten vaccines and spayed is that I was told $170 + tax for the initial visit and vaccines, and $451 + tax for the spay procedure. I was very clear when I asked about the price that I needed to know the total price for ALL vaccines and the spay procedure. The first visit was $170 + tax but now for remaining vaccines and spay procedure I have received a quote for $600-620 + tax. $150-$170 MORE THAN WHAT THEY SAID!!! BE AWARE of this difference as a paying customer if you are considering this veterinary clinic. I called the office to let them know that I was upset about this difference in price and their only response was to let them know if I would like to go elsewhere. Hopefully based on my feedback they can give more honest quotes up front!
A very caring and kind staff. Our puppy has received excellent care at this clinic.
Good location, both our boys (cats) come here. I haven’t taken my boys to any other vet so can’t compare - but the place is clean, the staff and front receptionists are all very attentive and whenever I call, even if it’s for a last minute appointment, they do their best to fit me in!
Great clinic! My cat is dramatic yet the team at Hastings Vet Hospital always gives her the best care!
We've been taking our animal family here for years. Great vets, great staff. Highly recommend. Edit - once AGAIN, Hastings Vet clinic comes through. We forgot our cat's medication when we went on vacation. Carly (?) and Dr Bajwa went out of their way to help us get sorted. Thank you, guys! A++!!!!
Very friendly, helpful staff that show a passion for the animals they take care of.
The staff at this place are more compassionate, professional and caring than any of MY doctors. I feel so fortunate to have had VOKRA recommend them. My two cats have been here on a few occasions for emergency care - they provide empathy and concise information without leaving you to wait too long. They always are upfront with pricing which is a rare gift. When the cats seem sick or have eaten something dangerous and I call, the front desk staff makes sure to get me the earliest possible appointment, often within the same day. All of the people who are involved at this place are some of the sweetest and most gentle people i’ve met. when you are coming in for an emergency it is SO important to have that gentle nature. Our veterinarian here calls to check in with our cats’ health and we receive annual reminders of upcoming shots or checkups. I have had a lot of vets and cat specialists that have not measured up and been harsh and confusing to deal with. This clinic is run with compassion and professionalism and it makes our visits a lot more comfortable. LOVE VEGGIE & CASPER
The team at Hastings Veterinary Hospital is the best. We have trusted their expertise for over 3 years now. Everyone is so knowledgeable, kind, friendly, and the customer service is great. The email reminder/appointment system works well to make sure that my best friend Marcus is always up to date. I highly recommend this vet for all of your furry friends needs!
Very nice and knowledgeable people that are making sure your furry child is all healthy and happy with the least amount of stress. I've never been there before covid, so I had to stay outside, which is a bit unfortunate as I can't take my very stressful cat there. I hope things get better soon.
The staff are so sweet and kind, great experience. My cats a new patient but I can guarantee I won't go to anyone else. I was in need quickly, and emergency fees are outlandish knowing this they got me in with a cancelation I was so greatful, I called around about 10 different places to get him in and everyone seemed so rude and impatient on the phone, but the staff here were genuinely so kind. The prices are extremely fair, very happy I found this place. Also its very clean!
There are 4 or 5 vets there most are fantastic one is not as great but still good.
Super friendly and helpful staff. Was able to fit me right in when I called for my Cat. They didn't order excessive tests and the bill was very affordable (for a veterinary bill)
Friendly staff!
We're so happy to HVH as our local vet. Couldn't ask for more caring lovely people looking after our fur-kid.
Amazing. This place put smile on my daughter.thank you.
I have nothing but amazing things to say about the hospital! Thank you to the staff for everything!
The staff is so kind! They make the experience stress free for your pet!
Took real good care of my dog. And very good price. Definitely will be coming back
Brought my cat here a few times. They were very careful and nice to him, because he was quite scared. The prices here are the best in the lower mainland for surgeries, neuters, etc. I feel very confident in this vet. The staff are super kind to both people and pets! Will definitely go back whenever needed for my little man.
Caring people, love animals.????
The vets here are very thorough and gentle with our dogs. We've appreciated that they are not all about the money and will let you know if cost can be avoided. We've been going here for about 5 years.
My VOKRA cat Adlay had her spay surgery here. Everything goes so well. I appreciate their perfect work.
This is a very caring friendly clinic. My standard schnauzer became critically ill with pancreatitis and Dr. Dahliwal saved her life. In my opinion he went above and beyond in her care, and is always available to answer any questions that I have had since. I would highly recommend this clinic and this doctor, and his staff.
Overpriced, but perfect for those who have money to throw out the window. I used to live in the neighborhood so I visited this place. Now in my second cat, spent countless $$on scans and whatever treatment they recommended. I care about my cat. So today second tooth cleaning for my cat. Surprised to me the estimate is $1100!!!! What I paid like $500 1 1/2 year ago!!! No reason given except it has gone up. That is ridiculous. I also noticed a $5 price difference for a bag of treats from other vets. Seriously you charge $13for 1 small bag and other vets charge $8. What do you do that justify these prices? My heart is broken, I have to find another vet to trust. Thanks & enjoy your customers money
We first brought our dog here when we moved to Burnaby. Within a year we moved again and then again one time thereafter, each time moving further from Hasting Vet Hospital. Despite moving further and further, I insisted on bringing our dog for the remainder of her long life. Today, we put her down and the staff here carried themselves with compassion and professionalism as they did each and every time we visited. Thank you to the staff for eight years of valued care to our beloved pet.
First I want to thank all of the staff at the clinic. You guys have been so amazing with our babies, and a kind group of individuals to interact with. They are transparent, honest, kind, and patient. They do not suggest unnecessary care for your pet if Dr. Laura doesn't feel like it's a concern. If you want the upmost care for your pet, and not stress about your pets visit, these are the people. We're fairly new here, and will be continuing when we need or pets looked after. Thanks for being so amazing guys, you've made this whole procedure with pixie so much easier.
Staff is super friendly and caring.
The staff, vets and vet techs, are all so friendly. They really care about the animals. The vets take the time to explain things. I'm a big fan of the care and support that is being provided at this vet hospital. I greatly recommend them!!
I've been there in 2017 during the final days of my old flurry friend and I have no words to express how grateful I am by the wonderful treatement I received from the staff when he passed away (my dog was 15 years old). They were extremely caring and did an exeptional job. This is an amazing veterinary hospital with a wonderful staff. Thank you for all the support you guys gave me during one of the saddest days of my life.
Staff go above and beyond to accommodate your needs. I trust them completely with the care of my dogs.
We have been taking both of our cats to this vet since they came to our home as kittens. They have been extremely kind, knowledgeable and helpful at every appointment. They answer all of our questions with great detail, and have made sure that we understood each and every test and procedure. We also board our cats with them when we go on vacation and have had amazing experiences each time. I have and would reccomend them to anyone looking for a new vet.
Very friendly, caring and efficient staff. Thank you for taking care of our kitty, Zinc
Drawn to this vet based on the relatively low prices, but my experience is that the complications arising from unskilled operations and poor judgment led to long term issues and costs.
This place! I had my doubts at first about this place. After my interaction with the vet and the staff as well as other ppl who have taken their animals there for many of years, I feel that I made the right choice. The vet answered all my questions as well as explained new things to me I had no clue about! I would fully recommend that you either take you fur baby here and if you don't have one recommend them to all your friends that have fur babies! Thank you Hastings vet hospital!
Not happy that I can not accompany my dog into the exam room.
Very good treatment and was great with our pets they have taken care of both dogs and the bunny and they took the time to answer all our questions and knew what they were talking about..
Excellent place ... very caring and knowledgable staff!
Always polite, caring and knowledgeable.
I feel compelled to write this because of the negative reviews they have received. I think this place is great. The administrators are kind and their schedule is flexible. My poor cat recently broke his leg and I was concerned about his pain the next day. Even though I had taken him to a different vet to get his x-rays and cast done (an emergency 24 hour one) I called here with questions because I had previously visited them. The vet on duty took his time to personally speak with me, really listened to my concerns, and advised me. I could tell that he genuinely cared. I was certainly impressed! And the kitty is feeling much better now :)
Very good experience. Doctors are very humble and nice here especially Dr Bajwa. Staff is very friendly and caring. Take care of your pet and explains every thing in detail. I always prefer to take my pet here.
Amazing care always...very professional and kind????
My dogs were spayed there without complications, friendly staff and convenient location
This vet has always given our dogs excellent care. Knowledgeable, friendly, and honest service all around. Thank you.
Dr. Bajwa and Dr. Shanahan are always compassionate and extremely knowledgeable, especially in addressing care for senior dogs. They are wonderful at communicating with clients. The techs and assistants are both kind, friendly, and skilled. HVH also supports the local community by assisting rescues. We honestly couldn't ask for a better veterinary hospital. Thank you, HVH
Attention all pet owners, please please please stay away from this clinic!!! I adopted a kitten (she was less than 3 months old), found this clinic based on Petsmart recommendation's. I did all her initial examinations there, and my kitten was perfectly healthy. Took her to get Spaded 4 ago at this clinic (she was 10 months old), post surgery she was OK, they gave me 3 days antibiotics with anti-inflammatory fluids. She was fine the first day, but passed away 2 days later( I was out for a few hours), I came home and discovered her lifeless. I called the clinic the same day, they said they were sorry and ask to bring her to do an autopsy, but I refused because it is too painful for me and my husband to do more test on her dead little body, and just wanted her to rest in peace. We are still in shock and can't believe this had happened to a perfectly healthy kitten with all signs of life. The staff is friendly, but that's not going to bring my baby back! For all those who are reading this, please stay away from this clinic!!! Whoever did the surgery is incompetent, and should not be practicing in this field. Don't trust your pet to this doctor, he is extremely lucky that I did not sue him, as we just want to leave this behind us!
Friendly help pet
Once again we have had excellent service. Our dogs have no fear when entering the office, where they know they will be greeted with love and care. Wonderful service, excellent care and seniors discount on their already reasonable prices. We travel 45 minutes each way to get there, but it is worth the drive.
They have always treated Ellie with kindness and lots of hugs!! She loves everyone there including the Drs even after they have poked and proded her. Very grateful that they stayed open during this crazy time as Ellie required major surgery. It got done and she has received excellent after care treatment.
nice and friendly staff
Clean, friendly staff and caring vets. Made me and my cat feel welcome.
good
Our dog Ryo needed a dental check and the Vet recommended to remove his pre-molar. We were so lucky to have Amardeep Bajwa at Hastings Veterinary Hospital recommend this. The tooth had broken and it would have caused a tooth root abscess. We had no idea of the tooth being broken or how it might've happened. Incredible service and we can't thank the team enough for their amazing support.
Great service and care for your pets!
Dr. A .Bajwa, Brandi and Carly came to our home yesterday to help put our beuatiful lab doodle Charlie to sleep he was 13.They were caring and very profesional.Charlie passed away in our arms in his home and on his bed peacefully. We will always have a loving special spot in our hearts from this lovely team from Hastings Veterinary Hospital. Sheryl and Randy
Best team but the new location doesn't have parking ! You can parking at the previous location but I don't know for how long
Compassionate and caring with my fur baby
Good staff can usually get in when needed.
Transferred here since it's not far from home and my dog hates the car. Very awesome staff. The vet was very through and knowledgeable. The women at the front desk very friendly. The prices were reasonable.
I regularly board my cat Swifty at this facility and the staff always treat him like a king. Couldn't be happier with the quality of care.
Well I have a allergic puppy so I just went in for hypoallergenic food the girl was informative and very nice
I brought my cat to this vet 3 times. After the 3rd time which is today I decided not to bring him back to this vet anymore. Not only the general doctor (Dr. Bajwa) did a really rough job on the first day, but also when I brought my cat in for the 3rd urine analysis (which they told me to do), they took my cat away for 10 mins, charged me when the process was still going on then the nurse carried him out saying he was doing well and have a nice day and walked away immediately without asking me if I have any question. No official result! I have been looking after my cat and his litter box of course I know he IS doing well but I brought him there for a clear result didn't I? I walked out of this vet feeling like being scammed and disrespected. My cat was with another vet before and they took way better care of him. I transferred his file here because it's close to where I live now but I guess I better travel some extra mileage for my cat's good.
My husband and I were looking for a new vet closer to our house, and Hastings Veterinary Hospital was recommended. A little over a month ago we took our dog to have her teeth cleaned and her nails clipped while under anesthetic. Our dog has lupus, which affects her nails, and trimming them can be very painful. About a month after the procedure we noticed she was limping, and one of her nails appeared to be bleeding. When we looked closely at her paw, one toe nail was significantly longer than all the others, and this seemed to be causing much discomfort when she walked. Since the length of that one toenail suggested that perhaps it was not trimmed adequately, if at all during the procedure, I called Hastings Vet Hospital to explain the situation and ask if they would trim the one toenail in question. I was understanding and very polite, and just wanted to relieve my dog’s pain. My fear, as I explained over the phone, was that I might hurt her if I tried to do it myself. The receptionist, in a very cool tone, responded that the clinic did not trim just one toenail. I was a little taken aback, and reminded her that it was the clinic that caused the issue in the first place. She then told me the procedure our dog had was over a month preceding (inferring perhaps that this issue could not be their fault?). When I pressed her further to trim the one nail, she put me on hold for some time, apparently to consult with someone else. Her tone was no less conciliatory when she returned to the phone, but she consented to the trim, adding that if the vet were to look at it, it would cost us money. Later, when we took our dog in, they were cordial, but cool. They trimmed our dog’s toenail, but did not ask about the status of her nail, if she was still limping, or if there was anymore blood. There was no apology, explanation, concern, or mention of the fact that the one toe nail was so much longer than the others. This was a very disappointing experience for us. Over the years, we have only ever received kindness and caring for our pets at the animal clinics we have dealt with. Our brief encounter with this one was cold, uncaring and defensive. A very simple response of, “Of course, bring your dog in and we’d be glad to have a look at her nails”, and a few follow up questions when we brought her in would not only have been the professional response, but also a simple common sense one. It would have been a gesture that they cared. We will be not be returning to this clinic in future. We know there are many more out there that can do much better.
I have just recently visited this hospital as my current vet clinic was booked up. I was very happy with the care my cat received from Dr. Childs and will go there again for sure. She was absolutely willing to listen to me, take my word for things and did not run any unnecessary tests (which my previous vet would have ran). She gave me a ton of options for treatment including cheaper alternatives for long-term care while also providing me a ton of options for medication which my previous vet did not. Like most vets, yes, the cost of the bills are high but this is unavoidable. The staff at the front desk have been very helpful and compassionate as well. I would recommend this vet again and will definitely go back.
Great care for our furry family members
We recently drove a man and his ailing cat to this clinic to have the cat assessed. The staff did not know him but they got him an emergency appointment and were extremely kind when they explained that his cat was dying and nothing more could be done for him. They gently helped the man make the right decision to end the cats suffering. I was so impressed and we will be switching to this this clinic for our future needs. Also.. the hours are great and easy parking.
Don't not bring ur pets here. My cats was in today for a check up. The vet I had did not give a name nor did he know what he was doing or saying, trying to sell me things before he even ask about the cat. The vet doesn't seem to realize …
So caring, great treatment of my dogs and such nice people from reception to the techs to the vets. Highly recommend!
Great vet! They have always treated my pet and I with care and compassion. One of the few vets I’ve seen that gives you options and has no problem breaking down pricing/costs.
I don't know how I felt about this. My kitty just died there from a spay surgery. She's only 4 months old. The vet said he didn't know why it would happen but it did happen. He also said it was probably due to that my kitty couldn't handle the anesthesia. THEN WHY WOULD YOU NOT RECOMMEND ME NOT TO DO THE SPAY FOR HER? By they way, one of the receptionists was just care about my money. I guess I won't go there anymore except for that I am going to pick her ashes next time. Best wishes for my kitty in the heaven. R.I.P.
