The staff was great, very caring and trustworthy. I trust them with my pup.

Took my Cockatiel in for immediate care, at first over the phone they sounded quite rude, but I didn't think much of it until they phoned us 30 minutes later telling us the bird was dead. Extremely blunt and rude.

Sue Palmateer

Very caring and compassionate. They explain everything and when I had a question when I got home after they treated my cat, they even called me back to make sure my fur baby was okay. Best animal hospital around.

great service, wonderful and caring staff!

Dani Brant

Excellent service. The vet is refreshingly honest and all the staff are so compassionate. I brought my cat here to cross the rainbow bridge and was so happy with how gentle and kind they were. They definitely need to update the clinic as it looks and smells like a 1970s magazine, but the service more than makes up for it

Update: Called today to actually book my cats appointment and spoke to Joan. Very awesome aswell and very helpful. Wonderful ladies that work here I tell you!! They also have the cheapest prices around. Chantel is the receptionist I've ever met, helped me get some prices about my cat getting spayed, talked to me about my cat is still in heat so much and offered me suggestions to make it cheaper!!! This girl is amazing!!

They love my furbabies as much as I do ????

Took my Pitbull to them for 10 years never a problem!!! Had him put down in march 2015 from cancer he was too old to pull through the surgery!! I always use this vet and always will. Taking my new puppy in soon... my family has also had a cat and 3 other dogs put down here and cremated when we got my pitbulls ashes back his name was engraved on the top of the box very satisfied with this vet they also knowing that I couldn't pay it all at once let me pay what I could till I paid it off

Great vet and staff! I know there's a lot of mixed reviews on this place but whenever I have needed them they've pulled through and didn't charge a fortune for it. This review is years over due but I think it should be shared anyways. So to begin and to add the context of my experience with them I'll start at the very beginning. 7 years ago my grandpa died and he was my favorite person in the whole world. It just so happens he passed on my birthday too, but on the very same night my friends dog had puppies. I was grieving severely months later and I decided something needed to change and pull me out of my depression, so I got a puppy. Daphne is a husky/sheppard mix and one of the most hyper ADHD dogs I've ever had lol. I love her to death and taking care of her is what got me taking care of myself again. Flash forward 10 months and I moved to Belleville with someone. As we were moving in the door was left open and she got out and was hit by a car on Station street. We took her to the closest vet and that was unfortunately the Bleeker St one and they wouldn't even see her until I paid all the fees upfront. As you can see she's pure white with a bit of blonde and she was so filthy and her leg barley hanging on. Needless to say I was traumatized seeing her in such a state when she was my lifesaver. The Bleeker vets kept throwing out numbers at me and saying how she needed a possibly 10,000$+ surgery and lots of aftercare for up to a year or more depending on the course we took and how if I couldn't do it or afford it I should just relinquish her to their care now so they can do what's best for her. As we were sitting there she was clearly in pain and I had to ask and pay them first to give me pain meds AND I had to ask for wipes so I could clean her wounds. They kept pushing and saying how difficult it'll be and how much money it'll cost and they don't do payment plans so I should do what's best for her blah blah blah. So I called BAH and they told me they did payment plans and to bring her over. We get there and they do xrays, set her leg, cast it and tell me what the best course of action will be. Within days they had her referred and into an orthopedic surgeon and a steel plate and 6 pins put into her leg. All inclusive for the surgery, xrays, medication, follow up visit was 2,300$ and at thay point they allowed payment plans. I'm not sure if they do now but they did. Point of this long review is that BAH was there when I needed them the most and gave her the best care for the best pricing and they were very kind and didn't at all try and make me relinquish her to the SPCA when I said I couldn't afford it all right then and there. So I will be forver grateful to them for not taking advantage of me when I needed help. Why I am posting this now is because I was in last week because she had a ear infection. Over the past few years we added some new additions to our fam and we were taking them all to my s/o vet. They raised their prices apparently tho and are kinda snobby there and I never really liked them and last time we took out other dog in 1,500$ later we still no answers as to what was wrong. They couldn't fit Daphne into their schedule for awhile because it wasn't an emergency type situation, so I called BAH and they got her in within a few days and gave her what she needed with no issue. The exam fee here is only 75$ instead of the 95$+ like most others and unlike other vets I've been to they don't get you a run around here for a answers to questions. So to wrap this long AF review up I highly recommend Belleville Animal Hospital because they care for the animals here and it's not just all about getting as much money out of you as possible.

Have been here with my dog and both my cats. Have always had a great experience.pricing has always been very reasonable and have never had any "additional" charges added to my bill. The veterinarian has always been very professional and caring towards my animals. Have been using this vet for over ten years and would recommend him.

BEWARE!!! The absolute worst vet. The main vet of this hospital should have his license taken away. One night, after hours, I had an emergency and they were the only vet on call and I had no other choice but to put my trust in them. The vet seemed annoyed that he was called in. He refused to let me wait in the waiting room while he checked my cat. He told me to leave. I stayed in the parking lot and watched him immediately shut the lights off in the hospital. Minutes later, he drove away, abandoning my pet. I called and reported him. The next morning he lied to me and told me he worked on my cat all night but could not save him and handed me a huge bill. This happened a number of years ago when the pet hospitals rotated being on call. I've been wanting to tell my story for a long time. I will never get over what happened that night.

Despite covid restrictions I was more than just accepted as a ''drop in'', the lady I spoke with was VERY patient and caring while I fought through tears to even tell her the problem. Though the Dr wasnt in, she was very helpful and as informative as one could be in her position and further fit Sugar (my chihuahua) in for the very next day! I brought her in for an infection in her bum and the Dr said she had a fever and hard time breathing too and wanted to keep her over night! This scared me for two reasons, the obvious being my Baby is sick and gonna be petrified im not there to pick her up, and two Im on Odsp and was already spending my food money for the month! So I agreed and the next morning Dr Burns called again and in the most clear, polite, informative and professional manner explained all, that she was doing much better than the previous day and to my complete surprise and relief despite all the extra Dr Burns did the final bill was hardly a reflection of that! I can only assume they COULD have charged me alot more though either way, I cannot stress enough how AMAZING this place and the people that work there are! In s moment where I literaaly felt like I was drowning while watching the most important being in my life suffer they were exactly what Sugar and I needed! FOREVER GRATEFUL!!! THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH Dr. Burns and staff!!! SOOOO HAPPY to have Sugar home again, and to see her poor little bum back to normal!! :) All the best, Sugar & Mike

My dog was really sick, loosing her fur, had scabs i thought she was gping to die, an I went to a vet clinic an paid 2500$ for testing, blood work biopsies, an got no answers. Went to Belleville animal hospital, he took her in, came out an said he thinks it's a allergic reaction. He said she was allergic to corn, wheat, or chicken or all 3. He gave her a shot of cortisone, to help make her comfortable. She's been healthy ever since, there has been a few times where she's gotten Into chicken an she has had severe reactions an I've had to take her in for cortisone shot. I also take in stray cats that come around an I get them fixed an re home them. He had fixed 14 cats for me with no issues, he neutered my puppy who is now almost 3. I have had several interactions with this vet, an I've never had any issues. My 1 cat got scratched on his nut after he was neutered an there was flesh comming out an I took him in an they fixed it an didn't charge me a fortune. I have not went to another vet since. They have earned my trust with all they have done for all the fur babies. Thank you for being awesome.

I would highly NOT recommended this vet clinic if you love your pet. I had drove there today because the breeder wanted us to get the puppy checked out by their vet I live 2 hours away from belleville. Drove down there, they couldn't find his previous files. Then the lady had took the puppy from my arms and said i need to weigh him. She wouldnt let us go with her.. The Dr kept sayibg " lets get things moving, we need to hurry up" they weighed him and the dr came out and said your dog has a heart mermer and proceeded to say " give the dog to the breeder" he then said the dog has nose problems. They prescribed 2 medications i asked what they are for he said infection. Wouldn't give me any paper work for the dog and or information on these meds. Took the puppy to Cavan hills closer to home on our way back and they said absolutely do not give your dog this medicine is will harm your dog!! They wouldn't transfer over their papers to Cavan. The breeder had called and said the belleville vet called and said your dog just has a cold. He tells us onr thing then calls the breeder and lies!! If we would have given the 14 week old puppy this medicine we would have a dead dog. If you love and care about your animal PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS VET. They have no idea what they are doing and or talking about. Horrible horrible experience after reading the other reviews I'm not the first one who has had a bad experience. This place needs to be shut down ASAP!!!!!

HORRIBLE! We consented to ONE test and ONE overnight stay. The price was supposed to be $350. Go to pick the dog up the next day and the bill was $1200!!! They threatened to not give us our dog back and call the police to tell them we abandoned the dog! HORRIBLE AWFUL SERVICE!

We were told that our border collie had arthritis and a flu bug of some sort. When she collapsed again, a few days after being released, we went elsewhere where she was quickly diagnosed with hemorrhagic sarcoma—a text Book case. The second vet also said that the diagnosis of arthritis made no sense based on the x-rays that they sent over. By the time she had surgery it was too late and she died went to another vet who took one at her pale

Very unhappy pet owner. Took my cat in after noticing my cat peeing around the house as I know that’s a warning sign. Was told that it was a simple infection that needed antibiotics to fix. Asked the vet to test for crystals as that happened to another male cat of mine in the past. Was told I wasn’t crystals and just to use the antibiotic. Cat got worse over the next day or two and I called the vet back and explained how he was appearing worse and not even keeping the medication down anymore and again asked if I should bring him back for checking for crystals. Was told no not to bring him back and it definitely wasn’t crystals and to just try a different antibiotic. Same result the following day with the cat appearing even sicker and again called the vet and told again it wasn’t crystals and I had to be patient and let the medicine work. The following morning noticed still no improvement and the cat appeared in a lot of discomfort. Said enough is enough and brought the cat in and told them to look at him. After one quick check was told he had a blockage from crystals and that his bladder was ready to burst. Asked the vet what treatment they would do and was told there was nothing they could do as they were closing for the thanksgiving holiday (WTF) and to take the cat to the emergency vet in Rosmore. Took the cat there and had to pay over $500 to have the vet inspect the cat and tell me basically there was nothing I could do and he was probably to far gone. Had to make the tough decision to put my best friend to sleep on thanksgiving weekend. Called the vet back when they reopened to complain and they completely changed their story about crystals saying the did check and and did all the proper testing and would take no likability. Told them I expected them to cover the cost of the emergency vet visit and was flat out told no. Advised they could at least cover the cost of the visit to their clinic and the cost of the medication and was asked why and when I told them about the misdiagnosis from the crystals they changed the story again saying had nothing to do crystals and there was no misdiagnosis. Told the story to friends over the following days and was told by more then one person they have had bad treatments there and others have lost animals because of them. TLDR: don’t take your pet there if you want good treatment or want them to live. Wish I had know before and would not have lost one of my best friends

Very dissatisfied with this place, and would not recommend. We went here with our small Senior dog for a rabies clinic, as the one we normally go to was not running this year. Our dog has back and neck issues, and is also very nervous, so we were holding her until the vet came in for her shot. When he did come in, (I believe it was a Dr. Burns) he did not tell us how to hold her, or to set her down, and he did not give us any chance to do so. While my mother was still holding her, he VERY forcefully grabbed her by the neck, to the point where she yelped, and jabbed the needle into her neck. He is then went on to say that we weren't holding her properly, when again, he did not give us any chance to hold her differently. My mother was very upset, and this is also alarming as I said, our dog has back and neck issues, and the way he grabbed her could very well have hurt her. I tried to explain as we were leaving why we had an issue, and he only yelled at us to leave. I understand as we were some of the last people to come, that he may have had a long and difficult day, but there was no reason to act as he did.

We had an emergency incident with our dog. The vet kept us waiting for hours and when he finally came in he explained what our dog would need for treatment. I asked how much it would cost as this was an unanticipated expense. The vet said it would be $300.00. I told the vet how relieved I was as I wasn't expecting a big vet bill right now. The Vet assured me it would cost 300.00. The vet said we could not take our dog home as she had to be monitored by himself and the office, if all went we could take her home in a couple of days. I stopped at the front desk and paid the 300.00. When I went to go and pick up our dog the bill owing was $1200.00!(not including the 300.00 we had already paid.) When I inquired why I wasn't told about this the office didn't say, even though I had asked before how much everything would cost so I could make financial arrangements. Apparently when the Vet tells you a price and tells you it would be any more he doesn't mean it. Then my dog had numerous infections afterward and each time we went to the vet for a check up he said she was fine, just needed time to heal, put on antibotics. It turns out the vet left a piece from her surgery in her! HORRIBLE and unacceptable. I would not recommend this vet to ANYONE-!

My cat was hit by a car (happy ending, he was fine) a couple years ago. Some scratches and sprains. They were very courteous and acommodating. I was noticebily shaken, as I didn't bring him into the vet, and a bystander who witnessed had taken him here. They allowed me to see him as soon as the could, and we're incredibly patient while I essentially harassed them for updates. They made me aware he was OK by all appearances, and presented me options without it feeling like they were trying to "gouge" me. Thanks for keeping my buddy in good health

Legit almost killed my cat. Main vet refused to return my calls until I threaten a lawyer and he gave me my money back. My cat only lived because we took him to another vet who was absolutely shocked at the horrible procedure they performed.. a spay for a crypto cat. They decided also to keep him over night without notifying us and when I called to see why I didn't get a call to pick him up all they could say was he hasn't woken up yet. Don't know if things have changed but I wouldn't chance your animals life. Facility staff do not carry out up to date procedures with proper approach and the facility also out of date. Poor mannered staff and an awful foul smell even in the front lobby. My cat smelt like this also after bringing him home. Looked as I'd they kept him in his carrier all night and used the blanket I sent with him to clean him up. Horrible.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with dealing with care for my animals. They neglected care for my animal. My dog was attacked by another dog and brought it for an emergency during office hours and was shoved in a kennel. He was in the kennel for 14 hours with out his injuries being treated. The staff were very rude and unpleasant. When I called to check on my dog they would tell me he was in a kennel and not being saw anytime soon. I had enough of their games and knew my baby was anixious, scared and confused and told them I was coming to get him. When I picked my dog up it was obvious he had not drank for the 14 hours and that he was very stressed. His wounds were still opened and bleeding. I would not recommend this vet to anyone!

Took my canary here as they were the only place that would look at him the same day. Great first impression, I wasn’t able to get there for a few days as I live in Kingston so an employee who lives near Kingston stopped at my house and picked the bird up and took him in for us, I was super impressed. However, since then the experience was not good. I suspected he had mites on his skin, was told he had no mites but did have pneumonia, with the explanation he was probably allergic to the food he was eating. Which was weird. They kept him overnight 3 nights before we were allowed to pick him up. When I get there I’m told the 2 days ago he fell in his cage, cut his leg, was bleeding for 15min and nearly died. I questioned how this happened and was given a very defensive, highly suspect answer that didn’t make sense. He was handled incredibly rough when I was being shown how to administer his antibiotics for the pneumonia, and given no written instructions. Then I was told if I thought he was getting worse again to just “give him more” of the antibiotics. When I got home and looked at the bottle, the date on the bottle was from more than 3 months earlier. As I was paying for the services, I was told that the food I was giving him had “no nutritional value” and I should be using their food, so I buy a bag. Once again I’m looking at it at home and it’s parrot food, not canary, the pieces are enormous and there’s no way he’d be able to eat it. Overall a terrible experience and given an alternative I would never set foot in there again, and the bird isn’t even any better.

7 years ago I brought my beloved new puppy to be fixed. There were complications during the surgery that they would not admit to. They gave us back a staved dog that we no longer recognized. We could see every rib bone in her body, not eating or moving and would growl and nip if approached. Called every day for 6 days: they insulted us calling us names, refused to take her over night without fees until the 7th day we got a second opinion. We then confronted the vet staff on complications and nearly killing our dog, they took the dog over night at no charge and kept her on IV's for 24 hrs. She was better after this but the problems should never have happened. The surgery should have never happen the way it did. She was in heat and they should have closed up immediately and called us back in a month but they did the surgery anyways and nearly killed her. She lost too much blood and was in too much pain. We will never take another pet to this clinic.

This hospital is the best animal hospital I have been to in the area, and I've been to 3 in Quinte West. They are the only one of the 3 I've been to that actually CARE about your animal. We've been there multiple times with our dog, and every single time we are met with welcoming open arms that make us feel at home. We 100% recommend this doctor over any other in the area.

Jessie Doxtator

Everytime my cat has needed to go here was due to an emergency situation. They always took good care of him and give him extra snuggles when he had to stay the night. He is still living his best life at 13 years old.

Initially, I found this place rather charming, with their old school approach to medicine...lack of computer....handwritten bills...etc...but it's a joke. Dr. Burns shouldn't be practicing veterinary medicine in my opinion. Here is my story: Approx 3 years ago, I brought my (then)10 yo Golden Doodle to be assessed entirely because he had a rather large lump under his right shoulder (armpit)....Dr. Burns palpated it suggested it be removed, mostly due to the fact that it wasn't loose or moveable, which can suggest cancer...loose lumps good...fixed lumps bad...so we went ahead with the surgery, during which he found a few small random ones which he removed as well (great) after which I was given instructions to keep him still due to the location of the incision...if he went upstairs, jumped on furniture or chased an animal, he would likely tear open the incision...his opinion was the lump was just a lipoma, only fixed because of the location (trapped under a large muscle)...once released...loose lump..(good) FF - January of this year...COVID protocols in place...Gus' lump is back, and he is clearly struggling to get up and lay down etc...Dr. Burns mentioned they can return, but unless it is bothering him, don't remove...I made an appt outlining the reason for exam was THE LUMP UNDER HIS ARMPIT YOU REMOVED 3 YEARS AGO IS BACK...and Gus seems to be in pain...is it due to lump? Is it arthritic? They examined him while I waited in the car (COVID) and recommended I purchase a huge pail of glucosamine tablets to see if that helped.. I started with a small bottle in case he doesn't like them (he hated them, they didn't help)...and they recommended removal of lump, dental cleaning...which I booked for March 17th...no reminder call, when I arrived to appt, they didn't know who he was, why he was there, thought he was 9yo (couldn't read their own handwriting)..he was almost 13yo..and thought he was there to be 'fixed'...(you did that 12 years ago) Once we got on the same page...I left him for the day, picked him up around 8 hours later...first thing I noticed was, despite his grogginess, he was moving MUCH better than after first surgery, no aftercare instructions, no concerns with stairs, running or jumping...I was incredulous...I said to them, "last time I was told to sleep downstairs with him and keep him still?"...they said, "nope, he should be just fine"...so over the next 24 hours, as the anesthetic wore off, he was fine...like...completely fine...so I decided to check him out myself, and gently lifted his right paw to look under his armpit to see the incision and...THERE WASNT ONE!! I felt the area and THE HUGE LUMP...(SIZE OF LARGE GOLF BALL)...WAS STILL THERE!!!!!!! There were a couple of incisions along his abdomen, which weren't in compromising areas where they took a couple of small lumps, but not the huge one I brought him specifically in for...that they had removed three years ago and should have a record of the location etc? I contacted the office and explained the situation, they said they would have him call me...He did...he was unapologetic and suggested I should have marked the area on the dog with a marker(??)......and that he would be willing to "take a look at him, when he comes to get his stitches out"...I said...'nobody even told me he had to come back...I thought they dissolved". .he said. .'well, I'm telling you now"..he said that they couldn't find a lump where I described it and its unfortunate I couldn't be more clear. Me: If you couldn't find it, why didn't you call me? do you not have a file on the dog? You removed a large lump from the same spot which has regrown, 3 years ago...and examined him six weeks ago when I brought him in entirely because of this lump!!! He wouldn't commit to redoing the surgery free of charge, maybe he would not charge the anesthetic...he wouldn't refund me...I wasn't comfortable going back...took the dog elsewhere (they removed stitches) and ultimately, my dog became suddenly very ill 6 weeks later and had to be put down...$800 for a service I didn't receive.

So a friend of mine brought her cat here about a week ago. The cat was having difficulty with urinating and was admitted to get a urine sample to see what was the problem. She waited 4 days without even a phone call from the veterinarian, and then they finally told her that she was able to come pick up her cat and that he would be making a full recovery and would be sent home on antibiotics. The next day she comes down and is told a completely different story. The vet finally shows up at his clinic and tells her that the cat would spend the rest of it's life in pain, that it had some kind of crystal present in it's urine that they would not be able to fix with surgery and that at the time the only thing possible was euthanization. So she showed up to take her cat home and ended up leaving with her cat dead in her arms. Nothing sat right about this situation with me, something seemed fishy so I decided to do some investigating. Called a few other trusted animal hospitals around belleville and was absolutely floored at the responses I received. the belleville animal hospital essentially killed my friends cat because they are too out dated and old fashioned to carry out a proper surgery. I was told by three other animal hospitals in the area that there was absolutely no need for euthanization, and that had she brought her cat to them there are NUMEROUS options available that could have saved her cat. there are surgical options to remove the crystals, there are laser options to blast them, there are food and medication remedies that can be given. so what I took from this situation is that BELLEVILLE ANIMAL HOSPITAL KILLED A 1 YEAR OLD HEALTHY CAT BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE CURRENT AND MODERN EQUIPTMENT NEEDED TO CARRY OUT NECESSARY PROCEDURES. not to mention the fact that I USED to be a client here and bring my dog, until I started realizing a few things, one of which is that I NEVER saw the vet. I'm pretty sure he doesn't even stay in the building and gets called in when clients are upset. random people take your animal from you down some long hallway and then god knows what goes on back there until they bring your animal back to you. it's unbelievable that this place is still in business!!!! I spoke with a client outside once who had her dog get fleas from this place. the ceiling tiles are all destroyed and waterlogged from the roof leaking. it looks like nothing has been updated in the place since the 1970's. I don't even think they have a computer system. only piece of advice I can give is DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE. SERIOUSLY. belleville animal hospital should be condemned.
