REVIEWS OF Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic IN Barrie

We brought our cat here late at night when he was unable to urinate anything except for small drops of blood. He was stable, so he was lower on the priority list but the staff made sure that he was taken care of in a time efficient manner. The dr was unable to get a urine sample as our cat managed to pass some urine on his own- so we were instructed to bring back a sample of urine. Even though they were extremely busy we felt like we were still a priority and they promptly tested the sample and were able to clearly and efficiently communicate the problem. Bear and I can’t thank the kind, knowledgeable staff we dealt with enough for their help!

I cannot say enough positive things about this clinic. They took excellent care of our beloved Nala. I will always be grateful for the phone call at 2:00 am to let me know she made it through surgery. Yes, the cost is higher compared to our regular vet; which is justified as this is an emergency clinic with a Dr. on site at all times. Additionally, the Dr’s are managing multiple sick patients, and performing emergency surgeries. I am an ICU nurse, and I was very impressed with how this clinic operates. The person at the front desk is triaging animals at the same time as managing all the clients and paperwork. It is an extremely busy place but they always identify the critical animals and take them in immediately. People need to consider that this is literally an emergency room (without the Ohip funding) that operates 24 hours each day and we should not expect it to be the same as a regular veterinary practice. Love all the staff and I am grateful for the work you guys do.

Not only did Dr. Erica Lutman give my 3 month old kitten an uneven amount of an opiod medication while taking her in to get her hip/lef looked at (supposed to be 0.8ml, most read over the amount and a few under with only one being correct), she also failed to see an obvious fracture of her knee until 2 days later after I already made a complaint about the medication. The manager was great and gave me a full refund on everything, but something needs to be done with Dr. Lutman as that was a critical omission of care. I would never trust this vet with any of my animals again and would advise everyone to stay as far away from this office as possible if you would actually like your animal to be treated with care.

Took our sick cat to this vet, they delivered the diagnosis with respect when we had to put him down, they helped with all the end of life arrangments giving us all of the options available. They made a difficult time better for us and we wish them all the best.

I brought my Australian Shepherd in late at night with major issues, including blocked intestines, and gastric torsion. She was visibly in pain, and uncomfortable. She was suffering from low temperatures, dehydration, diarrhea, vomiting and not eating. We called at 10pm to make sure we could come in and the receptionist was nothing more then arrogant and rude, I’ve never felt so unwelcome before. When I arrived I was told she was ‘stable’ even though she had collapsed on our way there and was barely showing any signs or herself, she literally was under the bench the entire time (normally she’s cuddling like crazy and kissing everyone she meets). They had us wait 2 hours just to be seen by the vet, for the vet to tell me she was fine. (I understand there are other dogs as well with emergencies but when I’m sitting there waiting, and you push me aside to wait for a dog that isn’t even there something is wrong). I had my friend there for moral support and the vet would only listen to her and not me, even though we clarified I am the owner of the dog. The vet did not even touch my dogs belly which was filled with gas, when we were there and he said there was nothing wrong. He actually blamed it on her being in heat... I breed these dogs under a registered kennel name, and I know for a fact it’s not due to a dogs heat cycle. I insisted he x-ray my dog and look closer and sure enough she was in a critical state. With that care I actually left the hospital and refused to let them take care of her anymore. When I requested my xrays they never sent them and their CD burner was ‘broken’. The next day I went to my vet and we called huronia twice for my xrays and they never sent them. The biggest waste of money ever. $600 for the vet to not help my dog at all. I did his job for him!! I’m very disappointed in the care provided and the professional quality of their services.

Rushed my 8m old husky into the clinic on Sunday, she had got into the garage and ate an expired protein. The doctors were absolutely incredible and did everything to make sure my little pup was brought back to me in full health. So thankful for the friendly veterinarian! Thank you for your hard work. They followed social distancing protocols which I imagine is very difficult is this type of job.

Very nice Doctor that has helped us a few times now during the middle of the night. Reliable hours of operation, and gives us peace of mind knowing they are right near our house and open when our regular vet is closed.

The kindness and compassion Dr. Peter showed us and our beloved cat Tommy at such a sad time is greatly appreciated. My sincere thanks.

All the staff were very compassionate and caring when we took the dog we are caring for there last night. I was in a panic but they we calm and explained everything. I feel the fee for the nature of the service is more than fair.

MFM To you

Its a shame that the service at this place is more about Financial gain then care for are Loved ones, anyway we have had two very bad visits with the same dog at this location, one several years ago and very recently was the clincher. We brought are 14 year old Lab in with a 3in cut to the inside back leg, to make a very long story short when we took her to are vet we were horrified to find out that she was not stitched and now had a six inch cut wide open and bleeding very badly. it saddens me greatly in this day and age this could happen, are we advancing as a human race only in Technology you do the math Beware

They went above and beyond when they really didn’t have to in order to take care of me while they took care of my cats eye. Friendly staff, thorough explanation of what’s wrong with Mrs Norris, and it was so quick!

I had a great experience here. The staff was lovely and the place was very clean. The vet was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything to me and gave us her trustworthy opinion on treatment. Of course it was more expensive than our regular vet but that’s to be expected when going to the emergency vet. I would highly recommend bringing a pet here in emergency situations.

We had a terrifying and stressful emergency with our precious kitty, and the folks at Huronia were so wonderful! They stayed calm, cool and collected while I was freaking out, explained everything to me (and patiently re-explained when I needed them to repeat things) in lay terms, and walked me through all treatment options (including prices) before asking my consent. The staff did everything they could to comfort both me and my cat in such a stressful time. Yes, they are a little pricey- but this isn't your average vet clinic. Also, it was appreciated that they are up-front with their prices before you have to commit to any treatment, and I never felt pushed- the vet was excellent at trying to help me decide what was necessary given the situation, giving what I felt was very objective medical advice. For quality & compassionate veterinary care at 9pm on a Sunday night, there is no better place for your beloved pet than at Huronia!

Being far out in the Muskoka region when our 5 month old golden retriever started whimpering on the beach we knew something had happened to his paw. No vet accepted to see us so we drove 1 and half hours to be seen in this clinic in Barrie . Initially they had us fill out paperwork online to expedite the process but after arriving and having to wait outside (because of covid) for an hour and a half. We were told they couldn’t do anything as he couldn’t take a look at the paw since our golden retriever was not letting the vet. They sent us home with muscle relaxant medication with a $260 bill for meds, exam. After getting home and seeing thing turn worse, our local vet immediately sedated, X-ray and put a cast on his paw as it was broken. I think this establishment is extremely negligible and untrustworthy.

Found a cat in the sidewalk by my house, appeared to have ingested something. When calling they told me it was animal control and did not offer the emergent care this cat needed. Brought the cat to the hospital and informed the staff I wasn’t sure if the cat made it or not but wanted to bring it in to confirm and get checked for a chip, they did not want to provide care and told us to bring it elsewhere. Brought to another hospital and the cat still had a heart beat. Due to the lack of compassion they had this cats urgent care needs were delayed. They were more concerned about body disposal then checking the cats condition and for the cats owners. Extremely disappointed.

We had to take our dog in on the weekend. It was really busy but the receptionist was very helpful and reassured us about our dog. Even though we had to wait for about an hour to see the doctor one of the other staff, a nurse i think, took an initial look at Pumpkin and checked her heart and temperature so that we knew she was ok to wait. Turned out that she'd eaten some pot from the dog park and needed to be in the hospital getting it flushed out of her system. We were nervous about leaving her overnight but the doctor sent us a picture of her looking comfortable in her kennel and that made us feel better. Thought it was a nice touch considering how busy they were. Didn't seem much more expensive than the time I had to leave her at our regular vet. Glad they were there!

I had to come from an over 2 hour one way trip with a dog who hadn’t delivered all her pups and over 12 hours had passed since her last pup and 24 hours since the onset of labour. A 4 year old large dog with her first litter of eight and she had an issue being that she had already had one dead pup delivered and risk of losing the last three and her as well if she wasn’t rehydrated and given a shot to help labour along. They saved the mom and able to save one pup which was truly amazing when it looked like all could go and I would be left with four puppies to hand feed every two hours. The team was amazingly supportive yet telling me how it could go and being truthful about events as they unfolded and when the doctor called and said everything turned around and the mom was fine and they managed to save one pup and drive back and pick her up I can tell you the drive back was a whole lot happier. We had a health mom and five healthy pups. Caution to others when things don’t go as a text book case see the Vet as things can go very badly very quickly and this group. Of professionals is totally honest and upfront and supportive all through your experience. Porscha sends licks and I my forever thanks.

Very knowledgeable staff here. Facilities are kept clean and the overall environment is actually fairly calm and quiet. It's pricey but it's fair pricing for emergency examinations and procedures.

HVEC was nothing short of incredible for my dog and I. The staff are so helpful, friendly, and extremely compassionate. Thank you!

They went to great lengths to provide the care when it came to looking after my baby boy Tobie also when my boy passed away they were over and beyond accommodating when I arrived I was hugged by the lady at the front desk and gave me much-needed time before I had to say my final goodbye they will always and forever have a place in my heart ????????

Very pleased with the quick and friendly service at Huronia, especially on the long weekend. We were seen quickly and all our issues were addressed. Dr. Tudose was wonderful with our family and excellent with our dog. For emergency services the cost was very reasonable and we were so happy with the care we received. I would highly reccomend Huronia to anyone with emergency vet needs.

LeeLoo

Excellent compassionate care, nice office environment, and a really sweet office cat. Only complaint would be it's pricey but one should expect that anyways when they rush an animal to emerg at 4am >.<

Ron Loibl

Tired of vets using Covid as an excuse for poor pet care. We can do everything else with a face shield, but keep our family comfortable. We brought back our cat(Dexter) in because he ate a toy. Vets there are more pushy than a dentist! Plus he was covered in his own urine! Makes one wonder if he was ever let out of his pet taxi. If you need emergency vet care, go somewhere else

One of my dogs had a major gash on her leg after a 2 second fight with her sister. It was on the Monday of a long weekend and most vets were closed so I was super happy to find that this place was open. Although the wait was long (to be expected on a holiday when no other vet within a 60 minute radius is open) the staff were very friendly and helpful and the vet got her all fixed up. The price was more than fair. I would recommend this place to anybody and although I hope I never have another emergency like I did, it's reassuring to know that I can rely on Huronia veterinary emergency clinic if I'm ever in another bind

Today we had to euthanize our beloved family pet. He was our sweet boy. The staff was amazing and made this difficult time a little more easy to bare with their kindness and promptness. My fur baby did not suffer because they acted quickly. I am forever grateful.

We had a great experience. Our little puppy Choco was chocking over the weekend and the emergency clinic received him immediately at the front door. The technicians and the Dr were very professional and discussed with us the action plan to make Choco to feel better. They sent Choco home with a treatment and asked to follow up on Monday. They were very serious following the Covid 19 measures.

I had to take my 9 week old kitten there. The staff was amazing. They were very caring with Jet and myself. They definately care about the animals. The areas are very clean. Prices were reasonable for an emergency hospital. I would like to thank all of them for taking care of my boy!!

1 year ago today, my cat was admitted to HVEC, having just been diagnosed with a life-threatening autoimmune disease. The staff were all caring and compassionate, and the vet on duty did an excellent job explaining the treatment plan and its associated risks. Through their care, my cat was stabilized overnight and improved so much that I was able to take him home to continue his treatment. Today my cat is alive and thriving, and his condition is well controlled. I'm so grateful for the expert care they provided!

We were on vacation and our dog came down with symptoms that worried me. They were open early, were prompt and efficient to collect all of his info and get us booked in for an appointment. The vet was so wonderful! Kind, compassionate, friendly and not pushy at all. She gave us options and let us make our own decisions.

We drove here from Orillia when our cat was in a ton of pain and having trouble walking. We’re so happy we came here. We were called frequently with updates after the drop off, given care and treatment options so that we could make the decisions, explained everything in detail by the vet over the phone as we couldn’t see the xrays, and picked up our girl again within 3 hours! We waited at the Tim hortons next door instead of in the parking lot. After we left we called back twice with questions about her medication and progress and the technician checked in with the vet to make sure they gave us the right answers quickly. The team here is incredible! Thank you for helping our 9 year old cat!

I went in last night with my dog her eye had ulcerated and needed to be removed....thank you to everyone there for taking suck good care of Luna.

Incompetent and indirectly killed my dog. Around a month ago my dog collapsed without symptoms but cpr brought him back and we rushed him to huronia. We paid $200 for them to tell us he seems fine and his heart probably didn't stop and it was probably a seizure and we didn't realise it in the heat of the moment. We were told we COULD run blood tests but it would be pointless. Today he collapsed while being brushed. After three successful recessititations we couldn't bring him back. I don't know if it was incompetence, laziness or what, but I would have run those "pointless" blood tests and whatever else vet places usually gouge you for to have my dog back. $500 with cremation. Was told they couldn't cover anything with cremation because he could have died from "anything". Well thanks that's kind of what I tried to prevent when bringing him here a month ago. If you love your dog make a different choice

Michael Lewis

Wow they help with everything appointments on the day so caring. Its alittle pricey but for a on the dot appointment its fair price.

Craig Laster

The worst place to take your loved pet to. I cannot even give a worst rating. We took our dog there as an emergency case, not only did they minimize it injuries, but mis-diagnosed it. But it doesn’t end there…. They proceeded to “Blacklist” us to other vets, because we refused to let those incompetent hacks take care of a loved family member. We went to another vet that informed us of our visit to Huronia’s and their “notes”. Thank god the vet we took him too ignored the ignorant hacks at Huronia and saved our pet. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO THE HURIONIA HACKS!!!

Just in their two days ago with my puppy she has a little gunk in her eye after being hurt and going to this clinic my husband called for eye drops that cost 3$ and willing to pay regardless of the cost but they said they wouldn't help as she needed to be seen again as new patient!!!! Didn't u just have her over night ! Wow so sad what this world is coming to everyone out for the money not the help of the animals it's so sad you guys should be ashamed of yourself can't help after she been their 2 days ago!!! This is why I travel to city for help barrie is a joke!

I had an emergency with my puppy while I was camping up North. My vet had recommended I can contact Huronia. They were very helpful and their advice helped me to treat my puppy and get her on the mend. I am very grateful to Huronia and would definitely recommend.

So good to know that we have such an excellent emergency care facility close by. This morning our dog met a van on the road and he lost. They were thorough in their examination, kept me well Informed in the parking lot throughout their triage, investigation and diagnosis. The doctor and staff were very attentive, understood my crazies and now we have our puppy at home. He will be sore and has some healing to do but I was also assured that if I had any questions, concerns or issues they would be there for us. Thank you.

I brought my dog here she was seen quick and I was updated every step of the way! Amazing staff (from what I could tell with covid19 restrictions which they also did really really well with!!) Overall amazing experience :) thank you huronia veterinary!♡ me and my fur baby appreciate your help!!!

This review is based on my first impression on the phone and price tag. My dog was followed up by Toronto VEC and needs a baseline bloodwork done when we are in Barrie. I phoned first and see if this is possible. The lady who answered my call on March 29 said it is totally fine. When I called back on March 30, a different lady told me they are a 24 hours emergency hospital. I told her that I have phoned and she asked me whom did I talk to. I said it was a lady who worked the night before. She said “sure sure it’s a lady. We have many ladies here.” I told her that she doesn’t need to talk like that, and why does she needs to make me feel stupid. She said she didn’t and she said that she doesn’t know whom I talked to. I said she can just say that. She checked and talked to the doctor. She contacted and to got records from Toronto VEC for me dog. She was friendly when we arrived. I only wanted a bloodwork. We were explained that although we don’t need a consultation, we need to pay for a re-check fee. I was fine with it. However, they told me a bloodwork baseline will cost $278 while the same thing at Toronto VEC costs $168. I said the pricing difference is crazy. I showed her the balance from Toronto VEC. Vet explained that this is their pricing and there is nothing they can do about it. She also explained they use a different machine. At the end I opted to do only liver testing and not bloodcell testing as my dog was doing fine. We spent $210.97 which includes the vet fee for $67.1. Staff are friendly there but I can’t believe for the same test, you need to pay $110 more than a big hospital in Toronto. Is it because you generally pay more in Barrie? Was planning to do two testing in Barrie but based on this, we rather just head back to Toronto.

Had an emergency with our 12 year old baby girl carin terrier Poppy. She ended up having open pyometra which required immediate surgery. I can't even put into words the extreme amount of caring and compassion from ALL of the staff. Never felt so looked after before! We knew she was in tremendous hands with the staff of Huronia!!!! Poppy is now home and on the mend. From Poppy and us a huge thank you to all of you it was a major emotional event for us and you had us more at ease throughout this time. You will never be forgotten ❤ thank you again so much for you care of our little girl!!!!!

This clinic saved my cats life and stabilized his diabetes in 2 days - something my own vet couldn't do in a year. My cat was transferred down from my vet because he was in kidney failure, dehydrated, anorexic and a couple of other issues - again all issues my own didn't have time to see him while he wasn't this bad off. They took him right in and started treatment right away. They did extensive tests and found other medical conditions that I was not told of by my own vet - though they did the blood work. They took the time to answer all my questions and provided detailed information about what was wrong with my boy, what the recommended treatment was, the cost and possible outcomes. I found the doctors very knowledgable and responsive. they were never too busy to answer my questions or provide me updated on my boy. I feel they went above and beyond with my boy and today he is in good health thanks to them. I understand that there is a quite a wait if you go directly there without your pet being transferred but considering Covid 19 and all county vets are sending pets to them as an overflow they are busier than usual but still try their best. The cost is expensive as they are strictly an emergency vet service but in may case where they saved my cat's life I had no issue with it and would take any of my pets there again.

Erin Martin

They took great care of our dog, the vet was friendly and communicative, and the process was surprisingly smooth and easy for 10:00 pm on the Saturday of a long weekend. The dog gets zero stars for collecting a face full of porcupine quills though.

I brought my cat there for ingesting a toxin. He spent 56h there on IV fluids and I paid just roughly $1700. I know that this is an emergency clinic and prices are higher for that reason. While he was there the techs and reception that I spoke to were friendly and got back to me in a timely manner with the information I needed. I felt he was in good care while he was there. I give this a 2 star review however because of the communication at the end of his stay. My cat had his catheter in his arm his whole stay and when they removed it they wrapped it with gauze and vet wrap and wrote a note onto the bandage that told me to take it off at a certain time. No one informed me of this note and the time they wanted me to remove it was 10 minutes after picking him up. Being the only emergency vet in covering a very large area, they absolutely know that people are rarely coming from 10 minutes away. I did not get home for about an hour and 40 minutes so my cats tightly wrapped up leg was ballooned from the foot up to the start of the bandage, and very tender. Simply telling me there was a bandage on his leg would have avoided this entirely but instead a hand written note, on a bandage, on the leg of my cat, in his cat carrier is what I got. I called to talk to someone about it and they told me the swelling should go down in a few hours but that if it didn’t I should call them back. When I spoke about the ineffective communication of notes written on bandages the woman, who was entirely polite, simply told me she’d pass the information along, no apology. I felt fine about him being there until this happened. I’m sure the care he received while there was fine and it’s a shame to have to complain when I bet there were employees there that did their jobs exceptionally… but to miss something like this at the end is unprofessional and could have done more damage to my cat. And to offer no admission of fault or offer a simple, ‘I’m sorry that happened’ is beyond frustrating after the stress of everything, including financially. I guess just ask questions, keep informed, and advocate for your pet to make sure nothing slips between the cracks.

So disappointed. I rushed my dog there this week as she had an infection in her paw. They didnt even look at her. We had to do a follow up with our vet only to find out that the vet we saw at this clinic didnt even look at her. I do not recommend.

They took really good care of my dog, very nice and smart staff. Facility is very clean.

I called your place and you don't support ginea pigs for my animal and it died because you only apparently take only 3 types of animals

mariah Bertolini

I had to take my 6 month old rottweiler to the vet because he didn't seem right. Within 20 minutes of him being there they were able to test and diagnose him with parvo virus (they even tested twice to be sure). Unfortunately that meant leaving him there for 8 days. Although it was a long and expensive process (as it would be anywhere) the amazing caring staff all pulled together and did everything they could to bring my lil man home. They made sure to update us morning and night to keep us in the loop, and once we received our bill it carefully laid out all of the expenses so we knew what we had paid for. I am so thankful to have my baby home and I owe it all to the staff of huronia for making it possible. If you're a caring pet owner and want to do anything it takes to bring them home i highly recommend this vet, you will not be disappointed with the outcome.

Brought my American bulldog on sunday of a long weekend, While yes, it was busy. MY dog had torn some stitches, about 1 inch. I understand the 140 Emergency fee, makes sense. However. When they put the staples into my dog to seal it back up, There were a staple not even covering the wound, its off by quite a bit, and there was still 1/4 to 1/2 inch open. Total bill was near $400 to fix, Won't recommend here. Staff was nice, and gets an extra star for that, but seemed rushed, and it showed with their work, When someone pays a large amount of money for their animal to be looked at, and staples put in, should be done right. The Clinic reached out to me, and we came back in, Free of charge minus new meds. The staples this time stayed in. Great customer service with the follow up and resolution to a previous issue.

Mey Su

What a wonderful and caring staff. They treated our little kitten and the doctor was very caring and friendly. Defiantly a place to go for emergencies.

Nelleah S

Brought my puppy in when she swallowed a sock. The receptionist asked me to fill out paper work but seeing my hands were full with my 2 kids and my puppy, she took my pup right away to induce vomiting of the sock. I was told over the phone it was $145 just to see the vet. (Ouch) another $50 to induce vomiting and another $50 to stop the vomiting, which I wasn't told about but they gave it without asking. So almost $300 later.... I know my vet charges $150 for this so it's pretty crazy it was almost double the price. In any case my pup is ok so I am happy about that. The office and area is clean and the staff was nice in my experience.

Carmen Baum

Nobody likes having to go to the emergency clinic with a pet, but the staff at this clinic are top notch. Yes, it costs money - maybe more than your own vet, but that's what you pay for EMERGENCY care. The staff are kind, understanding and patient - they took wonderful care of my dog. Big thanks to Dr. Lutman. She is both knowledgeable and kind and I would recommend her highly. Thanks Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic!!

Lily Slater

If I could give this facility more stars I would. From the moment I arrived to the second I stepped out they were nothing more than amazing, very professional. We drove over an hour to get there and they made it worth it. Reception was kind and responsive to our emergency. The nurse calmed all my anxieties, listened to my worries and reassured me the doctor would be with us as soon as possible. Once Dr. Dragos Tudose arrived we were the centre of his attention. He went through our scenario with a fine toothed comb. Not once did I feel like he was playing on my heart strings to fork money out on tests and medication. Most vets I've come across rather prescribe medications than work out the problem. He was very knowledgeable and also reassured me the other "issues" (my current vet has told me)my dog has, really aren't. Trust your guts!!! Finally, after all this care and love I felt from each and every employee I knew the bill would be big. But it didn't matter, my dog is good, he is healthy. To my surprise it was a 1/4 of what I thought I was going to pay. I would consider driving from the big city just to get this service again. Amazing staff. Thank-you and Bailey thanks you too.

Rachel Eichholz

We just brought our dog home after nearly two days at Huronia and are so grateful to them. He had an obstruction and, thankfully, it seems he was able to pass it without surgery. Every single person we dealt with was so kind and professional. They provided us with updates every few hours and explained things thoroughly. Special mentions go to Sylvia, Phoebe, and Dr. Lutman. Was it expensive? Yes. Because dogs are expensive and you pay more for a clinic that is open 24 hours a day and willing to call you at 3am to tell you how your dog is doing. But they gave us the price upfront and there were no surprises. Thank you so much for taking care of our boy. We are so thrilled to have him home with us.

They took wonderful care of our girl. The cost of care was only marginally higher than our regular vet. So thankful that we could get our girl help on a Sunday night when our vet was closed.

If you love your pet DO NOT BRING THEM HERE. From loosing our file, disorganization, to misdiagnosing our dog and treating for the wrong thing, to forgetting the meds and invoice requiring us to go back, the hole situation was awful, unprofessional from start to finish. We arrived at 9pm and as per COVID we called from parking lot to let them know we arrived and the girl on the phone clearly was overwhelmed, flustered and annoyed. They were pretty busy, but after 2 and half hours of waiting in the car with our dog in pain, I went in to use the washroom and asked how much longer it would be... reception was snappy and said "it's a minimum 3 hour wait" and I asked "for you to call us to bring the dog inside?!?" that is when she realized the clipboard with our dogs information was misplaced and was put in the pile of animals already seen. We would have waited outside forever. At almost 3 hours we finally got our dog inside, coherent and jumping out of the car on her own, walking completely fine. They misdiagnosed our dog and treated her with HEAVY medications to the point she was returned to us on a stretcher. She couldn't move (not her limbs, body, not even her eyes) and she looked deceased. They treated her for something she didn't have or was causing her issue. It was like if you were go to the doctor with a tooth ache and instead of looking at your tooth they look at your foot and then decide it needs to be amputated. We told them what was wrong and going on with her and they completely disregarded all of her symptoms. They extremely traumatized her. What they did caused her so much additional pain and suffering in her last 12 hours of her life. I wish we NEVER would have went there. After leaving with our dog that could no longer walk or move, we had to turn around at 2:30am because they forgot to give us the invoice and her meds (which was $150 of pills for something she didn't have). They next day we took her to another vet and explained her symptoms and what was happening. They were absolutely professional, caring, and sympathetic. They diagnosed the actual issue with her and they were surprised to hear what was done the night before as it had nothing to do with her symptoms, but in the end she still had to be euthanized that afternoon. We wish we would NEVER had gone to Huronia Emergency. Her last day of life was so awful and she suffered so much more because of them. This place is a joke. Almost $1000 and a 6 hour wait for unprofessional & awful care, causing additional pain and suffering. We cannot change the situation now that she has passed, but we will always regret taking her to Huronia Emergency.

During the civic long weekend my dog had to come in for a few stitches, and although the wait was incredibly long, the service was amazing. The service was fantastic, the wait was very long, and the process was done professionally and with care. Thank you for caring about my dog during a very stressful time...

Waited 4 hours didn’t even get in

I drove to this facility today in tears, confused, stressed, fearful and really-really sad. My little Pendo was slipping into places unknown after ingesting something dangerous ( I may never know when he got it and from where). The front office, the tech and the Doctor made it all feel better. May your careers be ever rewarding and may your joy be full. Thank you!

I originally took my bearded dragon to them to be euthanized because he was having a hard time passing and was in major distress. After 2.5 hour wait they handed him back to me in the bag... still alive. They claimed it was normal and the twitching would go away with some time but I am not aware or twitching that causes an animal to WALK AROUND IN THE BAG. ITS JUST MALPRACTICE. They offered me a refund for the mistake and we let it go. Now, I have my mothers cat which I have to take care of for the weekend. He has severe matting to the point where his skin is tearing. Called to see if they would take him and they said it was the job of a groomer, called the groomers (many of them) they all said it was the job of a emergency vet because there’s a WOUND on the cat. They told me that his issue is “not severe enough to be an emergency” and to make an appointment with my regular vet- who is booking 5 weeks in advance. Don’t go here, it’s just a waste of time and money and I regret even trying to give them a second chance. I will go to a vet that’s going to give me and my animals the time of day.

Sarah

The staff are absolutely incredible! Your pets are in safe hands.

It's hard to write this.. it's easier now I guess.. but at first, this was the closest place I could find that was available .... my family dog was sick, and my parents were out of the country in Europe.. Her name was Chika. She was a mix between a chihuahua/mini pincher... 13 years old. Once I got in, there was so many questions my head was spinning. Guess they were just trying to do their job. But after doing blood work.. I found out she had severe to extreme kidney failure, aperantly had to do with age, and was in suffering, had about a day or so to live... and I knew it was true by looking at her, she was lifeless beyond words.. It was honestly an extremely hard desicion to make. I had to do it on my own and what's app video my parents to say goodbye to her..... super heartbreaking... but the staff there was extremely amazing. So supportive and understanding. They helped me a great deal. They even sent me a card a while later. I'm very grateful they were understanding and supportive during such a sudden difficult time. It all happened on Oct 1st.. but I wont forget the support I got from every single person working at this clinic. Thank you everyone. ❤

This Clinic was amazing, I brought my very sick kitty in at 7pm on a Sunday night. The staff and veterinarians were all so nice and knowledgable. My cat was more of a critical case and they saw her very quickly and kept me updated every step of the way. Not only did they figure out what was wrong with her but they discovered she has a heart murmur. Even though this was an emergency visit, the bill was very reasonable and I felt very comfortable leaving my cat with them overnight. I appreciate this clinic and everything thing did for Ange.

Cassey Halverson

Great care while you're pet is in house. The price was high but I wanted great care. I called with questions after I picked up my cat and felt judged and offered zero assistance.

We had the scariest night of our lives on Sunday night when our little man started having multiple seizures for the first time in his life. We live in Muskoka, so the drive is far. Debbie took the time to give us guidance for how to manage until we could make it to the hospital. Charlie stayed overnight and began medication for his seizures. Both vets who were working during his stay were sensational and took SO much time to educate us and alleviate our terror. I didn’t catch the name of the technician who was working on Monday afternoon, but when we arrived to pay, she brought our babe out to us for a visit and couldn’t have been more kind and professional. I can’t imagine working in a world where you are constantly dealing with people and their pets in crisis situations. It must be so hard on the staff’s mental health. We are just so grateful for all you have done for Charlie this week. We hope and pray we don’t have to see you again for a long time but are reassured to know that the care is top notch if and when we need it. Now let’s just get an emergency veterinary hospital further North :)!

Easily the two worst vet experiences I’ve ever had, have been here. I’ve traveled with my working dogs from Finland to Croatia, always seeing vets here with our 5 dogs. Absolutely stunned at the complete incompetence, rudeness and lack of urgency displayed here, truly. And that’s after a 3 hour wait to have a vet even give an initial assessment. That’s not an acceptable time frame for ER.

Ryan Sixxo

Unable to assist with Reptiles. All I needed was medication injections and they don't have anyone qualified to do it, I told them I can supply the medication. I needed somewhere to get injections for my animal on Sundays when all other vets are closed as part of an ongoing treatment. I cannot condone an "emergency" Vet that entirely disregards entire classes of animals that are commonplace as pets. I did not need any information or veterinary help, just an injection that takes less then 5 minutes everywhere else that happen to be closed on Sundays. I guess your emergency is only important if you own a mammal.

Michael Rowbotham

We had to put our boy down this morning. This clinic has been light-years beyond any other place I've experienced. They're kind, compassionate, professional. Everything you could possibly want, and more. Thank you so much

Danny Deuce

We had to take our 4 year old cat Honey down on Thursday night with a bad case of Pyometra, we were terrified for her! And the staff did everything they could for her, she is now home safe and sound and on the mend, thank you so so much to you all!!!

Michael Sloss

A client's pet was injured and received out of hours emergency care. Grateful for an emergency clinic serving pet owners.

My smooth collie got hit by a porcupine and my regular vet was not available so we drove up to Huronia. They were very helpful and took her in right away. I'm grateful they were able treat her quickly and it was the same price I would have paid at my regular vet. I recommend them.

Kiersten Edwards (kadele)

Previously had been quite upset with service due to some missed quills in my dog after a pricey procedure. However upon seeing my regular vet, he commended Huronia for their good work. He pointed out that quills are very tricky and that the area had healed wonderfully. Thank you!

Sebastien Cabrit

I waited 4;30 hours. There were higher emergency than taking care if my dog, I understand that, but I wish someone would have told me to go home and come back later. Not an onze of convenience and customer care. Not impressed :(

Dirty Burger

My baby boy had blood/water diarrhea and then collapsed lifeless on the floor. I rushed him to Huronia where they took him in right away. My 14 year old dog has had Addisons disease since 2 years old which is a tricky disease and he gets really sick sometimes but I've never seen anything like this and I thought this was the end of the road for him. The Huronia team quickly ran some tests and verified he was having an addisonian crisis and began treating him. They then suggested an ultra sound for further diagnoses of other possible issues. The ultra sound showed Pancreatitis and also provided an opportunity to inspect his other interior organs which helps in making long term decisions. After many meds, fluids, tests and a 4 night stay, he came home with me and he is now almost 100 percent back to what he was. I cannot say enough about the kind, knowledgable and comforting team that is at Huronia and how much better I felt the 4 days and nights knowing my boy was in their hands. I've been to many vets and through many emergency care situations and can say without a doubt these guys are the best I've experienced. Great care. Great price. You just cant beat having a top notch team of vets and staff to diagnose and treat an ailment on a 24/7 basis. To those who say they are expensive, in my situation they were not. I did not feel pressured to do anything. I'm at the vet almost every month and have spent over $33k in vet bills over the past 12 years on my dog and am familiar with various vets and there pricing. As far as I can tell I paid double for the initial exam which is like $150 or so instead of 80$ and after that everything was around the same price as a regular vet only my boy received 24hr fantastic care. If you decide to have a pet then you better be prepared to spend a couple grand when they get really sick. To the Huronia team- Willis and I are so very truly thankful for all the care and work you did to get him back and we will be forever grateful. Thanks all. P+W Edit: 3 months later Willis is better than he has been in years. Thank you huronia xir all your work!!!!!!!

Sandra Fry

From the moment I called the office and spoke with Angela I felt that my dog was their top priority. She was reassuring and calmed me from my panic. Upon arrival the technicians were quick to receive Oakley from our vehicle. The Veterinarian was in constant communication with us as we sat in our vehicle waiting for updates. It felt like the entire office met us after deciding to bring our ill pup home, wishing him and his family well. Their goodbye was so heartfelt and genuine that it brought me to tears. A moment that will be forever in my heart! Thank you Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic. Where pets and their humans come first!

Extremely over priced. I love my dog and they make sure you pay of it. $145 plus gst just for a vet consult. Its disgusting that they take advantage of animal lovers when they're in need of emergency help. And please don't reply with your generic "Thank you for your feedback".How about thank you for your money instead? Your welcome! And thank you for actually being what's wrong with the world! ???? Vet consult $145. Antibiotics $37.58 Pain meds $55.30 Wound care $68. 26 Total $345.94 All just for shaved leg and some polysporin? $70 for wound care? They shaved have a small dog leg. $350 for Huronia to look at 2 small punctures. So thank you to them for not charging $700 like they would at human emergency.(?)

Jennie Sparkes

Honest, caring help given at the most critical time of our lives. Thank you for guiding us in the right direction and always looking out for the best interest of Coco our furbaby.

Anita Mitchell

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE. Unprofessional. Let my dog sit by himself with no pain meds for 5 hours. Because of covid I could not go in except to pay ( of course). Then gave me pain meds but did not bother to let me know whether they had given him any. I had to call when I got home to check. I sat outside and no one kept me in the loop as to what was happening. I called every hour and each time got no answers from the staff. I continued to get more and more frustrated with their lack of empathy. The operations manager is a vet tech but could not seem to tell me when the 1 dog that apparently was ahead of me for the last 3 hours would be done. Clearly did not keep abreast of what was going on or just could not be bothered After 1 phone call operations manager came out to my car and said I could go somewhere else if I want. Wow, what a way to treat Customers. Here is a novel idea, try to work with your Customers not insult them with your rudeness. Go to O'Sullivans. Much better operation No dog should be subjected to this place.

Crys Johnson

DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! My Girlfriend rushed our 5 year old tabby to the clinic, Diagnosed him with Crystals in his urine on New Years Eve 2021. Drove 2 1/2 hours to get to the clinic... Gave medications, and followed directions from vet and he passed away a week later. The one thing that makes me mad is that the vet tech that handed our cat back to my girlfriend did not give her the after care instructions for our cat. I didnt even want to give a star because quite frankly, they do not deserve any stars.

Holy Beef

100% mark up . Good way to line your pockets . Very disappointed in the how the service didn't match the outrageous price . exam. x ray.blood work . =1000 bucks .and dogs no better off. Shame on you guys . You bring Gread to a new level. I DON'T RECOMMEND GOING HERE .

Roman Autobahn

Thank you for taking care of our baby boy Enzo

Rhasputine Rhag

Wanted to inquire if care was needed for my pet over the phone. Was told "medical advice" is not allowed over the phone. I wanted to know if I needed your services and/or should be immediately concerned about pets condition (immediate concern? gone in a day?), not "do it yourself medical advice". I was Referred to seek help here, I'm sorry that reference was misplaced.

Shawn Rocheleau

Thank you so much for taking care of my dog. Even though it was a busy night, she got excellent care. Your staff was caring and helpful when I called for updates and follow-ups.

DanLePro

Today I had to put my dog down. I’ve never had to put a pet down before and was very anxious about it. Everyone was extremely comforting and professional at the clinic, the ladies at the front, the nurse and the veteranirian. One of the ladies offered me and my dad a beverage and was very nice to us. The whole progress was obviously a very sad experience but it went better than I thought it would because of the awesome staff. I would strongly recommend going here for any problems you may have with your pet.

Tammy Brown

Would give no stars but not an option. IMO. It's all about the $ NOT the emergency when $ is low and something comes up dont look to them for any help or symothy !!! Sad but true !!!

It's never fun to have an emergency with your pet, but when I did, they helped me out with compassion.

Kindness, sincerity, patience and diligence are what we experienced with Dr. Tudose, Angela and the staff. When I first called to bring my dog in, I was instructed to instead have an urgent appointment with his vet. He ended up needing treatment through them, but I appreciate that they didnt bring him in until necessary. I was prepared to potentially feel overcharged, but found that they were incredibly considerate in that regard, keeping the treatments and costs to whats necessary. I could tell that they were busy, and dont doubt that thier jobs can be stressful, so how kind, patient and diligent they were was impressive. Thank you so much for exceeding our expectations!

Taryn-Leigh Willetts

I had to bring my kitten in the other night (thankfully I was worrying over more or less, nothing). The clinic itself is the nicest, cleanest vet clinic I've ever seen. The staff were all incredible, efficient, friendly, and even though my kitten turned out to really not have anything wrong, at no point was I made to feel stupid for bringing her in. The examination and consultation fee was $145 ($163 with tax) and I felt it was entirely reasonable given that it's an emergency vet. I had such a great experience there, I wish they also provided general/family practices! Thanks so much for the compassionate care.

Joanne Verwey

HVEC is heaven-sent when needed most. When a life-threatening issue arises and it is after your regular vet's operating hours, doctors, techs and support staff of the Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic have become my local heroes

Jessica Cowan

Amazing fast friendly and quality service - even during the pandemic - my regular vet was very impressed with the quality of the stitches they gave my cat

Michelle Chen

I am so grateful for the care and comfort my cat received in the last hours of his life. Despite being a hectic and probably emotionally draining night for the veterinarian team, they didn't falter in giving us their best care and attention. The environment was beautiful. The room was like home. I could cuddle my baby on a couch rather than look at him upon a cold metal table. It was the best possible way to say goodbye after 19 years of friendship. These people are incredible for all they do.

TRIGS lol

Huronia was there for me when I had to put down my little guy bear. They were so kind and thoughtful with me and they even sent a card with all their signatures sending their condolences. Thank you so much you have helped me with the greiving process immensely. Love you guys and gals!

Spencer Gordon

Fantastic staff! Thank you Dragos!!!!

Andre Champoux

$$$$ It's all about the money. $$$$ Not your pet. Brought dog in for infection, swelling under the eye. They stressed how important it was the sedate the dog, so they could cut open the swelling to drain it. That was $800. Of course a simple needle to remove the liquid was not an option they said. Less than 2 days after, the swelling was back, and worse. Since this would have been free (warranty), they now insisted it was not important and the swelling would go away on it's own. ****THIEVES**** And no it didn't go away on it's own, the dog went to another vet, who took care of the problem.

Tara Baker

I want to say ty so much to this clinic. My dog pug Jane needed emergency care to save her eye and they did an excellent job. She can see clearly out of it after stitches taken out. Wonderful people working there. Ty so much our dog is part of our family and it meant so much.

Tammie S

I called very early this morning got rushed and wouldn't even give me idea if it is life threatening or not. Just I better get them in. I called another vet that is actually coming to my home as I don't drive. When u look at Thier website things shod be worse a bit different as I read it as they did In home blood bwork. Anyways if I have another emergency I will head to parry sounds I guess.

Theresa

I cannot speak highly enough of Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic. We have had to put two of our beloved Boxers down, 9 years apart, after both experienced health crises on a Sunday. Staff were kind and understanding. We were given all the time we needed to say good-bye to our sweet Hagler and Tank and in no way rushed. Staff genuinely offered condolences and were professional throughout. I am grateful for the kindness shown during this sad time.

David “The Aliq” Aliq

I have mixed feelings about this place. When my dog was not doing well they weren't experienced enough to know what was wrong, I paid the $164 check fee but it wasn't worth it, they sent me home with not much hope. When I went to my family vet the next morning they realized something was very wrong & recommended the steps I had to take. I've gone here twice because and both times I've been disappointed.

Kc Sisters

Very happy with this place and the care provided for our dog Jerry. Still amazed how strong the girls are that carried him in. (Jerry's easily 75lbs). Thanks so much. :)

Jasper Stone

Fantastic clinic. Over the long weekend All the vets were closed and the hospital was swamped. Lacey still managed to check on our dog in the parking lot and give us the okay. It made a stressful situation much easier

Allison Pawliw

Helped us out in a jam when our dog lost a nail at the cottage - I would recommend them in an emergency. Friendly receptionist, and super affordable services. Did not like that he was immediately put in an employee only area and muzzled. I would have liked to have been told what they were doing, or I would have liked to accompany him. I believe that being surrounded by 4 strangers and muzzled while in pain probably increased his anxiety - it definitely increased mine.

Poul Nielsen

Our little rescue dog ate half a dark chocolate bar on Christmas. The staff was professional and the vet we worked with was supportive and gave us the information we needed to proceed with the best decision. Fortunately our dog was treated well and didn’t suffer from the poisonous effects of chocolate. And she arrived home just in time for Christmas dinner.

Dawson

From out out town. My old dog had an urgent issue. I brought her here and they were great. The staff was very friendly and caring. They took their time checking her out and didnt rush anything. They also had very fair prices for an emergency vet. Recommend this place to anyone that needs it! Thank you very much

Megan Vona

I came here because my dog was throwing up non stop and seemed to be having trouble breathing. They took him in right away and were in touch with me within 30 minutes. In the end I had to euthanize my boy, but the staff were so kind, caring and professional. They never once bugged me for payment while I was spending time with my boy before having to say goodbye, didn’t rush me out of the building, and didn’t rush me to euthanize him. The vet guided us through the process and had such a gentle, kind way about her. Even though my experience was hard and painful, the team at Huronia Vet Clinic was nothing but amazing. They even sent a sympathy card after everything which was truly touching. I would highly highly recommend this clinic to anyone who has an emergency with their animal.

megan swatton

We brought my dog into the clinic a few weeks ago. He was very ill and the staff made every effort to not only treat him but ensure his comfort. He stayed at the clinic for 3 nights and the staff would always make sure we had a private space to visit with him any time we came in. As I work night shifts, I would call in the middle of the night as any worried pet owner would. The staff were always happy to update me with his status and answer all my questions. Although it was a pricey weekend, thanks the to care he received at the Huronia Emergency Animal Clinic, my dog is home happy and back to his usual self.

Sandi Thomson

I had two dogs go in for removal of Porcupine quills. The dogs were taken in and the procedure done. I felt it was over priced at $1400 but ...The one dog is a standard poodle and that night there was a lot of blood by his bed. Upon examination I found his nails had been clipped and WAY too short, one was bleeding badly...we stopped the bleeding. I found quills on both the dogs, 8 in total to date but the one nail in particular got sorer and sorer as the days went on. It has now been five days and he does not want to walk, holds his paw up and is depressed. I soak his paw in Epsom salts and treat with Colloidal Silver and it helps until he has to go outside again. This was a butcher job! He is a digger and his nails were quite short, this was completely unnecessary! I am not happy. I have sent an email with pictures but as of yet have not heard anything from them

The staff and Vet at the clinic are amazing - very helpful and most of all compassionate. I had to take my Daisy Rose (a 15 year old Shih Tzu) to the clinic early on a Sunday morning - she was desperately sick with many ailments. Even though we did not have an appointment they treated her immediately. They took us to a private room and explained our options - they put NO pressure on us - they then left us to say our goodbyes to our sweet little Daisy Rose - the hardest thing we have ever had to do!! I was able to hold her in my arms right to the end. They then left us to sit in the room for as long as we needed to. Everyone was so kind and it meant so much to us. The bill was reasonable especially being a weekend and for the prompt service we received. THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH - WE REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR ASSISTANCE & KINDNESS. Cheryl Heilbron

Katie Marshall

I brought my dog in last night after she was struck by a vehicle. The staff and vets were extremely helpful and patient with my very scared dog. Thank you!!

Erin Lapp

Recently had to bring my frenchie in and the staff was wonderful. They were patient, kind, knowledgeable and took the time to keep us updated on the progress of our pup. Understandably during COVID-19 owners are not allowed in the building, so having the kindness of the staff during the entire process was wonderful! Negative reviews state upset about the wait times which is unfortunate. The clinic is very similar to an emergency hospital so a wait should be expected. When you call, the staff will give you approximate times as well. With COVID-19, the staff are practicing safe behavior to ensure the safety of others which would result in further delays.

Patricia Campeau

Very professional and compassionate. Brought my bf's dying cat on Sunday. Everyone was extremely nice and accommodating. They allowed us to take the dog with us in the room for our last moments with the cat. The procedure went very smoothly and they allowed us as much time as necessary with our dear pet both before and after the procedure. We can't thank the team enough.

jeanna grigorieva

Thank you very much for your care and help to my cat Busa!!!! we were in a panic ...dont know where to go and what to do.... so glad that at 5am i found your site and phone number!!!! once again thanks!!!! THANKS FOR ACCEPTING US AT SHORT NOTICE WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM!!! THANKS THANKS THANKS !!!

I've had a very poor experience @ the Huronia Vet clinic today. (I'd like to point out that months prior, our dog had an emergency visit for GI issues. She had xrays, bloodwork and was sent home with meds and GI wet food. The receptionists were great! Dr. Wendell was EXCEPTIONAL, and I have nothing but pleasant things to say about them). Today was a polar opposite. My dog is having the same GI problems/diarrhea. (We were advised by our vet clinic not to feed her until we get vet-branded food, as anything else can worsen her symptoms, so we figured getting food @ Huronia would be our best bet). We called in prior, requesting the same wet food. My partner was advised the food would be ready upon arrival. When we arrived, it was NOT ready. We called again in the parking lot, and once told it was ready, we were told to come in & pay. My partner went in and they said she couldn't pay because MY name was on file and not hers-OK, fair-BUT WHY WASN'T SHE TOLD THIS IN THE INITIAL CALL? WHY MAKE HER STAND OUTSIDE IN THE RAIN? So, whatever, I go in to pay and get the food. THE FOOD IS NOT READY. Already frustrated, I'm told by a receptionist (shabby blonde hair, glasses, thin frame) to wait outside (again, in the rain) as they were expecting an emergency visit. Again--fair. An emergency is an emergency. But the "emergency visit" did not arrive to the door for another 3-4 minutes and we easily couldve been served in that time. Waiting outside, a receptionist (brunette) asks if I'd been spoken to. I nodded, then voiced my complaint re: inconvenience. She goes, "This is an emergency clinic not a dog food pet store!" As if I'm stupid and did not travel a distance to get EMERGENCY FOOD (NOT PROVIDED BY A TYPICAL PET STORE) for my SICK DOG. (What kind of customer service is that?? Arent you, the receptionist, supposed to settle my frustration?? Or do they teach combative techniques to their staff @ Huronia to deal w/ clients? Is she not trained to understand that my dog, a NOW-FORMER patient of theirs, required urgent care as well? Since she is sick and hungry and cannot eat anything else at the time? Especially when their "emergency visit" had not yet arrived? It was clear that me, my partner, and my dog were not a priority. After the "emergency visit" was taken in, I'm met by the same shabby-haired receptionist who's telling me to calm down. I was VERY calm. I literally asked, "Ma'am, can I please just have the dog food." She tells me to read a sign at the front desk that says to have respect (as if I'm her child, as if they hadn't already disrespected me, my partner, our time, and neglected my dog's care.) In the end, we left. I, at that point, did not want their service anymore. I requested my name and my dog's file be removed from their system. I went to a different provider and got the same quantity of vet-exclusive dog food for ~$10 cheaper, at that. An emergency is an emergency. I get that. But our simple transaction couldve been addressed prior to their "emergency visit" coming in, had they been prepared with our SICK DOG's FOOD. No client deserves to be treated like this. No client deserves to be told to wait outside, IN THE RAIN, THREE TIMES, AFTER having been proactive and diligent by calling in ahead of time to AVOID A DELAY on THEIR END. I later called in and spoke with their Lead Technician, Ron, who'll be informing the head of admin, Vicky, re: our complaint. He was nice, supportive and understanding. I probably wouldnt be typing this right now if the two receptionists we'd dealt with were nice and understanding too, and not COMBATIVE, RUDE, and UNAPPRECIATIVE of their CLIENT's time. So, thank you, Ron. And thank you Dr. Wendell from months ago. But the receptionists we've dealt with today have no business greeting clients, albeit at an emergency vet clinic. They are terrible at their jobs with ZERO ability to handle client concerns. I'd love to speak with Vicky come Monday.

I have dealt with multiple different emergency vet clinics and this has to be at the top for worst experiences. My dog was admitted to the hospital at 12:45pk with a possible toxicity to the blood stream and I was given no word of what was happening until 5:30pm. After multiple phone calls throughout the long wait I was still given no information. When the doctor did finally call, my stress and anxiety was not met with genuine concern. Instead I found the doctor being incredibly rude to me. After another 30 minutes we finally got results from blood work which did in fact show up with toxins in the bloodstream. I was then told I could take my dog home if i wished, to which I said I would. After a 45 minute wait for paperwork to be done, I was finally able to retrieve my dog. All in all, not a pleasant experience. I can understand long wait times but I cannot understand long wait times with no information whatsoever of what is happening with my pet, and no sympathy for the long wait times. I would not recommend this clinic if you are looking for quick or thorough results.

Brenda McMahon

My cat suffered a stroke last night. They took me in right away. The staff were very helpful and explained the situation with much care and compassion. I had to have my cat put down, there was no other option. Thank you to all who took care of my kitty. So sad.

Chad Markle

They took very good care of my companion. The vet Matt was very informative of my dog Coopers condition. All the staff were very friendly. Clean. And to the nitty gritty, they don't completely gouge your pocket. Nor do they make you feel like your not a good pet owner.

Krystal Tucci

So helpful when I called on a Sunday with a question even though they are not my regular vet, as I have a pet turtle. So thankful they were there when I needed them!

Ryan Chasmer

Words cannot describe how grateful I am for the compassion and care that my pet received at the Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic over the last two days. All of the staff - Vet Techs and Vets helped my family deal with the sudden and unnecessary loss of our family pet who was given a routine surgery at another vet clinic and suffered a series of complications. The staff explained all options calmly and compassionately and spent lots of time with us as we came to terms with the fact that our healthy young dog would not recover from her surgery. Not only did the staff treat us and our pet with great kindness, but they helped us with the payment of the bills which only made this difficult time even harder. I cannot thank the staff enough for their support. Although this was the most difficult time I have experienced in many years, the wonderful staff helped me and my family in ways that cannot fully be explained. Thank you so much! I am so grateful for everything you have done.

Kevin Disher

I would like to Thank Huronia Veterinary Clinic for the outstanding service on Sunday Jan 9th 2022. The compassion and professionalism of Dr Jennifer Parker helped ease the stressful decision we had to make with our beloved dog Maya. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The Disher family.

Judy Duncan

Impressed with the care my kitty received today. Thorough, compassionate and understanding. All the staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful. Cost not exorbitant considering they provide 24/7 emergency care. Jax and I are grateful!

Very pleased with this emergency vet. If I ever had to come back I would feel confident with knowing that the service and care is a priority for them.

Our little shorkie ate a grape off of the floor and luckily we just saw her in time to swallow it. We knew grapes can be dangerous for dogs but one of the kids just dropped one and she grabbed it. It was a Saturday at 5 pm and we were at the cottage, so not sure where to take her. We called them and they were very responsive, telling us exactly what we needed to do. We brought her in right away. They took her in quickly and during this pandemic they had a very efficient and safe procedure. The staff we dealt with were all friendly and attentive and the veterinarian explained everything over the phone. I was impressed with how quickly they responded and long story short, they got the grape out basically intact and our baby is doing great! Thank you to the veterinarian and the vet techs who helped her. We would definitely recommend Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic.

We (unfortunately) had to visit this clinic a week ago to have our dog put down. Although it was a late Saturday night, the staff was unbelievably kind, patient, caring and calm. We never once felt pressured or rushed. The vet assistants and vet took a lot of time to explain everything to us and be sure we understood everything that would happen and all of the choices available. If you are looking for a kind, caring team, I would highly recommend this clinic!

My cat had a bowel obstruction that required surgery. My own wonderful vet did the surgery and everything went great. "Went better and easier then any surgery could have gone." It only took 30 mins for the operation. I had to bring my cat here, Huronia 24hr Animal Hospital after the surgery for over night observation. My vet and the vet at the clinic expected him to be home by morning because he was doing great. The cost would be adjusted for the shorter stay. I called the next morning, it was a different vet from the night before. I asked how my cat was doing and when I could pick him up. I was told I had until 10 pm for the 24 hrs and that he was doing fine but he wasn't eating but that was normal and he would eat when he got home. So they kept my cat there hungry for no reason other than to collect the full amount of money. They also charged me for the IV that I already paid for at my vets that was sent down with my cat and the medication that was sent down. When I picked my cat up they had him in someone else's carrier. I told them it wasn't mine, they went back and brought him out in a much much much smaller carrier that still wasn't mine, they told me they lost mine. On the way home I realized they didn't lay anything on the bottom to protect his fresh incision. I had to pull over and rip the carrier apart to get him out, he laid on my son lap the rest of the way home. I never got a receipt from them when I picked my cat up. When I got my visa bill I realized they billed me more then the estimate. So I called to find out what they charged me extra for and to get a copy of the receipt. They told me no problem they would email me a copy. I still haven't recieved anything. Someone did call me and was unable to explain the extra cost. First they didn't add the 2 amounts charged correctly, then they told me the estimate didn't include taxes, yes it did I was looking at it. Then they told me it was a catheter change but the amount I was told they charge didn't make up the extra amount. Now I have to call again to request a copy of the receipt to figure out what I was charged for. Horrible first impression of this place. I have informed my friends and family to not bring their pets here. I will never bring one of my pets here again.

We brought our little kitten, Willow, in after only having her in our care for 2 days and she was in dire condition. It didn't look promising and we were a mess. The team at the clinic took her in right away and set her up with what ever care they could. Over the next 3 days she stayed at the clinic and they provided her with non stop care. They were so compassionate and really helped us make the best decisions at a time when we were not very clear minded. They answered all of our questions - even when we were calling at all hours of the night for up dates. It has been one month since then and our kitten has made a remarkable full recovery. We wouldn't be spending Christmas with our spunky little fur baby had it not been for this clinic. I can't say thank you enough! Highly recommend!

I had my very sick kitten here over the weekend. They did bloodwork and suggested he likely had FIP.... I had no idea what this was, I have since learned that it is a 100% death sentence. My cat had zero mobility, was barely opening his eyes, in hindsight I realize that he was dying. They suggested leaving him overnight on an IV. Of course I wanted my little kitten to get better so I left him.... I called the next day and they said that he was "slightly more hydrated" and walking some, they suggested I spend more money leaving him for 24 more hours and getting xrays. I said since it was Sunday night I would rather bring him to my own vet in the am..... I picked up my kitten, in spite of them saying he was walking a little he was still completely unable to walk. He also smelled of urine, he was at this point unable to even use a litter box. He was in the same condition as I dropped him off in... No progress. But they wanted to keep him longer. They never suggested I put my cat down.... I realise now that this should have been suggested. I brought him home that night and slept him in my bed next to me, he couldn't move and was just peeing in the blankets he was wrapped in. I found a group devoted to FIP and reached out to them, there were several veterinarian members who helped me to understand FIP, they looked at his bloodwork and said that they too believed it was FIP and there were many indicators of this showing in his bloodwork (I also learned that the only way to diagnose FIP 100% is post mortem) I called the shelter I purchased him from and spoke to the woman who runs it, to see what she might do in my situation... Every person other than Huronia Emergency Vet said that the most humane thing I could do given my kitty's condition was euthanasia. My kitty was put down the next day, nothing else was pushed or suggested by the vet. After spending close to a $1000 to try to save him the night before... When really he had no hope to begin with.

These guys are really wonderful. The front desk staff were kind and responsive (I've never been offered a cup of coffee at any other vet office I've been to, and I've been to more than my fair share), and Dr. Trish Wendell, who treated our dog, Scout, was great. While our dog's ailment turned out to be minor in the grand scheme of veterinary emergency practice (a voracious beagle who may have gotten hold of a piece of a corn cob), Dr. Wendell was thorough in her examination, intelligent in her assessment, and solicitous in her explanation of our treatment options and concern for our worry. One of the things I was most struck by is how carefully they explained the financial considerations at play. They are clearly alert to the realities of pet owners who love their animals, but also may be struggling financially. We've had ample exposure to vets in our dog's eventful history, and our experience at Huronia and with Dr. Wendell definitely ranked with our most positive experiences. I recommend Huronia without reservation.

I took my cat here at 10:30pm at night due to her leg being extremely swollen. She wouldn’t put any weight on it and refused to eat or drink. Due to Covid measures we were told to wait in the car. I waited over 4 HOURS! I did not leave until 3:00am. I would have gone home, however they said to stay in the parking lot. I had to call numerous times to get any updates. Many times I saw the vet come outside and spend over 10 minutes talking to patients. I understand and do appreciate the care, but when you have people who have waited over 4 hours, it is not okay. I will never come back here again and instead go to O’Sullivans. They are much quicker, a lot friendlier and I feel my animal is treated better there. I will say the lady who answered the phone was extremely pleasant and very understanding. However the Vet took way too long. If they had better communication with clients and we’re transparent in their wait times, I would have been more understanding.

Our old fella Cooper arrived at the office Sunday Evening, unfortunately he had to stay there a couple of evenings to get back into a healthier state then when he arrived. Reception and Vets were fantastic communicating with me on his status of recovery. It was a vey emotional ordeal on our end because he is 11 years old. They were very compassionate during phone conversations as well. They are doing a good job adjusting to coved rules as well. Definitely pack your patience. I was nervous bringing him home only because the vets were cautious due to him not eating sufficiently. Devoured 1/2 of his dinner as soon as we got home and a couple of carrots. Good job ladies, and thank you.

Davis Horowitz

Told us to come at 5 to say goodbye to our dog. Arrived at 5 but was waiting on hold for 15 minutes in the parking lot just to be told they didn't know how long it would be until we could come in. You'd think they would have prepared concidering the situation and the fact they knew what time we were supposed to arrive. Super unprofessional.

Andrea Buzzetti

The worst vet experience ever! 5 hour wait. The doctor ran a bunch of tests and took a urine sample to send for culture. After a week of not getting a call for results (which I was told I would), I called to follow up to find out they LOST THE URINE SAMPLE with no explaination. So after paying for the test, I got no results and had to go back to my actual vet to redo the same tests and pay again. To top it off, the medication they gave us for blood clotting issue was actually an antibiotic, not what they told us. They also have yet to send my vet the results for the blood tests after more than a week since my visit. The definition of terrible service.

Trish Jennett

10/10 amazing and professional on all fronts. Highly recommend this practice.

My baby, best friend and heart got cancer after only 9 and a half years together and past away. One of the worst and Hardest things I had to go threw. I wish I could remember all the names of the three staff ladies that helped us. Never the less they know who they are from the pics of my Sunni. They were honest, positive, showed sympathy and most importantly for us were very confident with there verdict. They made our hard experience a easier one. Thank you Dr. Armstrong and staff for everything. You are our new got to place for when fur babies get sick. Thank you.

We cannot thank the team at Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic enough. It is because of you that we still have our Cooper. A special thank you to Dr. Tudose, Dr. McKee and Dr. Wendell. You provided exceptional care that was so thorough and compassionate. You took the time to educate us and update us regularly which was so gratefully received. We would also like to thank all of the lovely administrative support staff and veterinary technicians who we spoke to over the last few days. You were all so warm, kind, and helpful, and made a very difficult time so much easier. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Our dog suddenly fell extremely ill last night and we rushed to this emergency vet at the recommendation of the vet we use M-F. Dr. Zhang quickly recognized the urgency of the illness, although clearly stating she was unsure at first what had happened. She explained everything clearly and with compassion, and was excellent in not sugar-coating the situation which we appreciated. After a few hours, and some inconclusive blood work, Dr. Zhang admitted our dog and within a few hours called us back with a diagnosis as a result of just a few further tests which she explained prior to our leaving the office. She then called again in the morning to provide an update. She was absolutely fantastic throughout the entire process. Her "bedside manor" is wonderful, and her expertise and willingness to research was unparalleled in my experience. Crossing our fingers we won't be back to an emerg vet, but if we need to, it will 100% be this one. In terms of cost, it was obviously higher than a primary care vet gicen they are an acute care vet prepared with extra staff, equipment, and medications to provide immediate care. The costs were well explained, and we genuinely did not feel any unnecessary course of action was recommended.

I only give one star because I can not go lower. These people are pirates. We brought our cat in on the weekend as he was seriously depleted and sick. They assessed him and did bloodwork and diagnosed him with FIP. For any who don't know, FIB is terminal, no cure, no treatment, nothing. So does the vet do the ethical and humane thing and advise euthanasia? No....they see my emotional wife and advise to prolong the suffering by keeping him overnight so they can give him antibiotics and an IV. $700.00 later, my cat is returned to us with a bandage and no other signs of any treatment. Again, the ethical and humane treatment of euthanasia is not advised, rather that they would like to do an xray to confirm what was originally diagnosed, hoping to further line their pockets by suggesting pointless treatments, taking advantage of emotionally charged clients, and a patient who can't complain, and is not well enough protected by law. These people should be charged with cruelty to animals for prolonging the suffering of a dying animal so they can make a buck. If this had been a human, in a hospital, they would have told us to call the family, not tried to sell us additional goods and services. Shameful.

Sadly had to put my 18 year old cat down that I have had since I was 8. It was a tough day but Huronia Clinic made it the least painful it could be, and were great with the aftercare of him. Its been 3 weeks since the day and I just got a card in the mail personally signed by their staff, saying sorry for my loss. Very nice to know they care.

Don Nicol

When you have an emergency with a pet, Huronia is the place you hope you can get to. Facility is beautiful, spacious and clean, staff and vets are excellent and they let you know the possible outcomes first, so you can make the best decision.

Jamie Gibson

Taking our dog here for an emergency was a smooth experience. Every person we spoke to was great, it was easy to follow the COVID protocols, each part of the process was timely and, most importantly, honest/caring staff. I was impressed when the veterinarian, without being prompted, said "and it's only fair to give you an idea of the cost..." and then gave us an estimate, obviously pending the result. That was a refreshing change from every other vet clinic we have tried in the area. The estimate and final charges were virtually identical and very reasonable.

Shelby LeBlanc

I brought my pet pig in and even though they don’t have very much experience they still took him in. We saw Dr Jingyan Zhang and she was AMAZING. She instantly informed me that she doesn’t work with domestic pigs and doesn’t know a whole lot, but she ended up knowing more than enough to help us out for the night. She even prescribed the exact same medicine that my own vet would have prescribed. She truly seemed to care. I greatly appreciate the help from this animal hospital in a frantic time.

THANK YOU FOR TAKING CARE OF ENZO :)

THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT MONEY. $3000-$3800 to have my cat have catheter, IV fluids and bloodwork. As well as a $3000 surgery after that. We couldn’t afford to pay that so we had to put him down. I don’t understand how they can put the money before a life. They have no payment plans for you. Only this thing called paybright, it’s basically a loan and you don’t know the interest rates till after. The only pleasant experience was with this couple that was also waiting outside to put their pet down. (Since I was by myself) they offered me the comfort I needed. He was only 13 months old. I blame the vet for having to put him down. My cat had so much life left to live, and because of their insane and heart breaking prices it had to be cut short. He kept saying it was an emergency (which is understandable because it was) but he made me feel extremely rushed. I am so heartbroken over this. My cat has his sister at home and I can’t look at her without being flooded with tears. When the vet told me the amount my heart sank to my stomach. I knew we couldn’t afford that. I tried asking for other options but it was pay $3500 (and he would still need a $3000 surgery on top of that), pay $1500 for a bandaid (they would “fix” the blockage but it would just keep happening) or euthanasia. I told him we have pet insurance, and the vet even said to me “that makes me feel less guilty”. Are you kidding me. I was at a loss for words. (Even with insurance we would have had to pay well over $5000, they only cover so much, trust me we looked) Our bill by the end was even $630. $630 for basically being told we have to put him down. I am so incredibly heart broken. Please consider bringing your pet to a different emergency hospital. You love your pet, and they sure make you pay for that.

Yuri Menko

Clinic is not cheap but everyone is very meticulous and know what they are doing.

I thought a large animal hospital like this would feel cold, but it was very much the opposite. A huge thank you to all the staff who looked after our Teddy on March 10th, 2021.

Rushed my dog in with a dislocated hip . After over a thousand dollars, no sling, just pain meds , within 8 hours the hip was dislocated again. There was no follow up from HVEC to check in and see how he was doing. Rushed dog to our own vet on second dislocation, (8hours later) and when they tried getting the report it wasn't completed . We ended up having to put our dog down cause HVEC only gave one option and it didn't work . Will not return . Money hungry vet is all I can say.

Thank you so much to everyone who was working last night and gave us such compassionate care as we said goodbye to our beloved dog, Cash. It was our first visit to the clinic, and we knew we weren't going to leave with good news. We were taken in quickly, and given a fast diagnosis that broke our hearts but helped us make the decision to end Cash's suffering from an aggressive cancer. Not only did they give us lots of time and space to decide and say goodbye to our little guy, but they also held the room for an hour while we waited for his previous owner to drive in so he could say goodbye. There was never any pressure, and the vet we had was so gentle and compassionate. Thank you for helping us through a terrible night and for easing Cash's passing.

Kelly Bowman

We brought our dog in with a life threatening condition and were treated with professionalism and compassion. They acted quickly to do everything they could to save him and regardless of the outcome, we knew he was getting the best treatment he could. Because we got him there so fast and because of the actions of the HVEC staff, our beloved dog is alive today and we are forever grateful. People have to realize there is a cost for the availability of an ER for our pets 24 hours a day. If they hadn't been open, our dog would have certainly died. Our own philosophy is to have pet insurance so that we never have to worry about whether we can pay to do what is best for our pets and HVEC did all they could to save our dog.

On Friday July 26th I brought my dog to your clinic as the mobile vet saw her at home and advised me she needed an Xray and to go immediately. I knew she was in distress. When I arrived there was noone there at the desk even tho they were called ahead lf time. A man was already waiting 20 minutes becore us..As we waited Suzie litlle tail wagging, chased the cat the wondered the waiting room...I observe a candle which gets lit whenever a pet is put down.....After we were finally tended to the vet seemed compassionate and caring..my experiece quickly became traumatic and I wish things were handled differently. The vet on duty immediately suģgested my dog was in congestive heart failure. I was told my dog can have an Xray. Giving me false hope it could be something else tnat was wrong...After agreeing and signing the bill and consent to have this procedure they told me she might not survive xrays...so why the hell suggest this if you care..As a result it did traumatize my dog. It took over an hour. I was then told she only had a few days to live even with meds..so putting her down was the right thing to do. I asked to have some time with my dog and was to wait. I was told it would be fine they would be back in a few minutes...but 20 minutes later I asked again. The staff did come but only with paperwork and wanted to sell me cremation and urn options. I wanted too see my dog not go through the marketing of cremation sales. It was also important that i see and pay my bill. You could have brought me my dog and dealt with the paperwork after she was put down My point is why not give sensible compassionate options like offering the dog to me and let me take her home to say our goodbyes ..She had a family who she loved and loved her there was even a note and a treat for her it was very unexpected and sudden. You had my credit card I had to wait to say goodb ye somewhere I didn't want to be all this time listenening to a yelping husky in the back room ..instead I left without my dog. A big bill and a broken heart. And I observe no candle burning for my Suzie.. This dog was more important than any procedure.or money.... I now look back and wish I was given choices. I am living with regret. Huronia ... I am sure selling services is what you are trained to do but Management you need to accommodate pet owners and make this experience peaceful not an ordeal ,if you are truly compassionate about the animals why put them through that to make a dollar. So for anyone reading this ask the vet in their professional opinion is this necessary? Maybe not asking was my mistake..I would hate for anyone to have to go through the 4 hours of stress that we did .

I rushed my 6m old puppy on Sunday night with a very bad eye injury. We paid 800 dollars for them to push eye back in. They should have sewn eyelid closed and because they didnt, we now have to pay another 1600 dollars for our vet to completely remove it. We sat from 10pm until 430am the next morning for them to finally get to our dog and it take them a half hour. They wouldnt let us go home and be with our two young kids, I had to have someone come and stay at our house all night. It was a definite emergency as his eye was sticking out of his head and they made him sit there for hours by himself with just pain meds. I am so disappointed in this clinic. They are all for the money. But they know they are the only ones close by so they can charge a ridiculous amount and not feel guilty because people have no choice.

jenny nash

The care seemed good and the get was polite and informative however be aware of the adding items to your bill that they never discussed. When the vet mentioned my dog could benefit from gastro dog food, I told him we could get that in the morning at our local get as we already get some there, he responded well we will put in a couple of cans. The way he made it sound is that it wasn't going to cost anything. Then he talked about giving the dog two injections and sending her home with a pain med tp which we agreed to . However when we went to pay and saw the bag of medication I 8nqiired what it was in the bag and the vet tech told us it was a prebiotic 13.00 some medication for her stomach 50.00 amd the pain med which I agreed to oh and those two cans of dog food that I told him we could get from our own vet were 14.50. Just need aware this vet is already at least double then other places and triple for some things but then to add to our bill like that was maddening.

Absolutely excellent!!! Our puppy coco have a near drownings event, dr Trish was amazing !!! Beyond expectations!!! All updates were very professional!!! Coco is doing better and better we are all very happy Great job !!! Thank you!!!

Extremely disappointed. I can’t even describe how upset I am.

hayley capson

Don’t normally leave reviews but I was very scared about a head shake that my dog had. Although it stopped before we arrived I was very scared and concerned. The girl at the front desk who helped me was very nice and made me feel comfortable and she was great for his checkup before. The vet that came in didn’t really tell me much about what was wrong because I didn’t have a video, which I understand. What I wasn’t a fan of was the nurse complaining and and being mouthy with me on how she couldn’t keep my dog still for a blood test and sending us home. This place is good if it is an emergency but otherwise I would stick with your normal vet if you can. I paid 160 dollars for them to tell me he is “probabaly”okay.

Chad Cole

Was told it may take an hour. Sat there for two. Finally left. Extremely poor customer service and providing updates for delay.

Dan Piquette

Not overly thrilled with this place. My cat was sick and in a lot of pain and it was likely urinary or bowel-related. Came here in the morning bc couldn’t get into regular vet until later in the day and was worried about a urinary obstruction. Their vet said there was nothing found on exam (not even that he appeared in pain- this was strange because he looked absolutely terrible all morning) and sent him home with buprenorphine despite my protests that meloxicam would be more appropriate. They wanted to do urinalysis and x-ray for over $700, which is not wrong but the price certainly is. Declined and followed up later in the day with his regular vet who (correctly) diagnosed a UTI - he had a fever, other signs and was underweight likely from being sick for a few days. Not sure how a vet emerg clinic missed a fever but I wasn’t happy to have spent $236 for something the regular vet did for $50. Regular vet put him on antibiotics, high-calorie food, meloxicam (for the fever, pain, and cystitis), and did urinalysis for $190. All in all I would avoid this location unless it’s absolutely necessary. The cost is extremely high and the fact they missed a fever and some clinical signs in a sick cat was worrying to me.

We would thank all the staff at Huronia Vet for your kindness and support during our recent visit with our beloved Barney. A special thankyou to Angela for her sincere compassion and support throughout our difficult time. Even though we lost Barney..we know that the doctors and technicians tried their best to save him. We highly recommend Huronia Vet to anyone that has a fur baby.

Will never recommend this vet to ANYONE. I called them today to inform them about a cat that got hit by a car they told me to call the city of Barrie. (I should mention I am the second person who called about this with no help from them) the city of Barrie won’t pick up the cat until 8:30. the cat is severely bleeding, and because I do not have the money to help this poor kitty they refuse to do anything for the poor animal. this place is absolutely despicable to allow an innocent stray cat who was possibly hit by a car and may pass away due to blood loss because the woman who found the kitten can not afford it. I have the whole conversation recorded if there is any dispute about my comment. However I will NEVER use this horrible place again and I recommend you find a place with more compassion.

Nathalie Lapenna

I brought my 17 year old cat there the first week of September and I ended up having to put her down. The Veterinary technician charged us then told us "Have a nice night!" while I was in tears. Like I was checking out at a grocery store or getting food to take out. Maybe say something like "I am so sorry for your loss".... I only put the extra star because of the other Vet Tech (who was compassionate) and the veterinarian was very nice as well. I just lost a part of my family, maybe teach your staff some people skills.

Tasha Wight

Friends cat had a STILLBIRTH and we have no idea how long she was in labour for and they told her the cat didn't need to be seen. WHEN MY VET ASSISTANT FRIEND saw her and said she needed to be seen asap. She had a slight fever and her breathing was heavy. We also don't know for certain if it was the only kitten. Awful awful advice. If you can go anywhere else at all, do. They don't care about your pet.

Kim Sexsmith

Our dog tore his dew claw this morning and was in alot of pain. I called our vet and they were closed, but their voice mail said to go to the Huronia Vet Emergency Clinic, so off we went. First time there and the receptionist and the vet tech were both extremely friendly and caring, and it was a great experience. We were extremely happy with the service and we would recommend the clinic. We would definitely go again.

Recently brought two of my injured cats here. The wait was long, however there were plenty of people ahead of us and while their injuries needed to be dealt with sooner rather than later, they were not life threatening. Prices were great for an emergency vet, I was definitely expecting to pay WAY more. I was given a discount for having brought in two animals at the same time, which I wasn't expecting and they didn't charge extra for having to give my cat a stitch in his wound. Over all I was pretty impressed. I am hoping that I will never need their emergency services again, but if I do I will definitely be bringing all of my animals here!

This past weekend my puppy got into some over the counter medications. It was a terrifying experience especially after we couldn't get him to throw up.... We brought him to Huronia Vet Clinic and Doctor Lutman helped us with our pup. My boy friend doesn't handle stressful situations very well and so wasn't very clear or kind with what he wanted etc. but doctor Lutman didn't miss a beat. She was very clear about what our options for treatment were and if we chose to not follow certain recommendations what the result would be. It was really nice for me because I really wanted to understand what was going on. We ended up having to leave him there for 48 hours (which sucked) but the doctor PERSONALLY called us every morning and evening to give us an update. I really appreciated her approach - remembering ours and our pups name and being calm and clear through the whole process. He is now home and okay - very thankful!

Laura Pullman

Extremely helpful and professional. Took my dog in immediately and diagnosed her issue in no time. Found the vet to be very friendly to my dog which was very important to me. A little more expensive than your regular vet but they're open 24/7. Highly recommend.

Amazing care by Doctor through the night when we first arrived. Intake was slow but I understand critical care triage. The staff was very thorough and informative, also very compassionate to the care of our sick puppy. In the end she recovered and that’s all that matters but I was disappointed in the staff the next day when our puppy was discharged. I was not given direction as the how to treat at home, we felt rushed out and when I called to follow up with food and medication information I was given a vague answer and told to read the bottle. I hope to not have to return but if emergency occurs I would recommend this place for overall care. Our bill of course was thousands of dollars but for anyone wondering the basic exam fee was around $200.

Anna Marshell

Thank you for helping with our questions over the phone, you were a huge help.

Barrie Dog lover

We took our dog to the emergency clinic. We were told that no conclusive tests could be done and the vet only took a heart rate which costs almost $200. BUT if we paid $2,500 - they could monitor him overnight. No thanks. Won’t be returning.

Jeff Patten

Thank you all for the help with our lion head Bunnie Barley, you all did a great job working together as a team Dr.R and JC. And everyone else's. I will be giving your# to our Vet, Thanks again Jeff and Andrea Barley.

Animals and emergencies cost money. but that's one just of the responsibilities animals come with. for all of u ppl complaining about the cost, maybe u should have thought more about emergency funds. owning a pet is a privilege, not a right. how much do you think it costs to run a 24/7 emergency hospital? if they did everything for free or low cost, we wouldn't have them. so sick of the keyboard warriors. don't get mad at them because your animal got into something or had an accident. that's all on you. this place is here when you need it and that's the main point.

sam wr

It was so awful!!! I waited an hour and a half to see the vet. She was so rude and inconsiderate. She belittled me and was arrogent. She gave me several quotes for my dog who was ill. All the quotes she gave me were over 700 dollars. I was so upset because she was so vague at explaining what "could be wrong with my dog". I ended up leaving because The price for guessing what was wrong with my dog Was way to expensive. I still had to pay $150 for my dogs visit and the vet did Nothing. The appointment was 5 min long. Just a money grab. I was so Bothered by this. I called my other vet and went in to see them in the morning. My dog was seen right away and the appointment, treatment and medication cost me $200. Not only is this vet gouging people the seriously lack Customer service skills too. stay away!!!!!!!!!!! Don't waste your time or money

DO NOT go here if you love your pets. These people only care about the money and have absolutely no compassion, empathy or even manners! My daughter took her dog here after he was hit by a car. They refused to look at him until 75% of the expected bill was paid. Ok fine...put $800 down. They took X-rays (over $400) and drained air from his chest (he had collapsed lung) after 2 hours they call her and say there is nothing they can do for him....basically they don’t have the time to continue removing the air from his chest and suggested he be put down. My daughter goes back to barrie to see him and discuss any options and was told there is nothing they can do and that they have animals to treat?!? Ya how about the dog dying in front of you that we just paid $800 upfront for??? The lady then proceeded to slam the door on them because “her shift was over” Absolutely disgusting behaviour from people who are in the business of “saving” animals life’s!!! Never ever again would I go here Edit in response to their reply - you can not discuss this with a third party? Are you kidding me....you definitely had no issues taking a third party's credit card number over the phone so that my daughters puppy had a fighting chance of survival!!!! Disgusting

Thank you for providing such outstanding service! I had to rush our little fur baby to the clinic as she appeared to have difficulty breathing. They handled the situation quickly while keeping my nerves at ease. Thank you to everyone at the clinic for all you do!!

I had to put my cat down this past Sunday and I was soo happy with how I was treated at the clinic. I was beyond consolable I was soo upset. Despite being crazy busy they still made every effort to console me and talk to me about positive things. They also got me into a room as fast as they could for privacy to grieve. You have to understand that when you come to an emergency clinic you don't have an appointment so they can't always help you right away. But despite being busy they gave me as much time as I wanted to say goodbye. Yes the trip was expensive. It cost me 145 for exam, 189 for the drugs to put him down and 30 to cremate plus taxes. But understand it is also an emergency hospital on the weekend so prices can be more. Regardless I was happy to pay what I did for the positive experience I had. It was one of the hardest things I have ever had to go through and they did everything they could to make it bearable for me. Thank you sooo much!

We were concerned about our dog on a Sunday and wanted to get him some medication. Big Bay Animal Hospital recommended contacting this place after hours. Don't believe their recorded message and don't waste your time going to Huronia. They have no regard for your pet and will just tell you to wait to see your own vet. They did recommend Smart.Vet which is another online scam that just takes your money. They give you advise when you pay in advance but there is no follow up and no way to get their prescription filled. Huronia told us they don't dispense medications. Yes a hospital without medications! Don't waste your time. You are much better off waiting to see your own vet if you are fortunate enough to have a good one.

I attended the office on Sunday and it was very busy with a long wait. I think people need to be more considerate to the fact of, while you are there with your sick furbaby and very stressed, there are others that are sicker and graver and yours, so you will be triaged accordingly. This clinic is in high demand outside of normal veterinary hours and servicing a large area, so bring your patience and maybe some gratitude. I found the staff all very efficient and pleasant. So thank you for being there for me and my pup

Took our super friendly Aussie here last night with a lesion on his back. The techs were nice and let him snuggle them and give them kissea but for some reason the vet walked in and acted like he was afraid of my dog before even meeting him. He approached my dog with the weirdest body language like he had never been near a dog before! His behaviour and body language made me really nervous for him to handle my dog and to top it all off they didnt tell us how to care for the sore, just stapled him and sent us on our way. Saw another vet today at a different clinic who gave us detailed instructions for how to care for the sore until the staples come out. Wont be returning.

I suspected my seven year old Bichon Frise, Rosie, accidentally got into some deadly mouse poison. She was showing mild symptoms on Saturday, Sept. 16th, 2017. However, I suspected she got into this deadly poison a few days earlier but was in denial until the mild symptoms. We rushed her to the Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic. Her vitals were stable and the clinic was crowded so we waited. Later the emergency vet did the appropriate tests and realized the urgency of treatment due to the suspected poisoning. She highly recommended a plasma transfusion which we agreed to. Given Rosie's vital signs at 5:30 am just after the transfusion, we are fairly certainly she would have died without immediate treatment.. In addition the overnight emergency vet did not risk giving Rosie a red blood cell transfusion directly after the plasma trans fusion due to the risks of back to back transfusions. Everything done saved Rosie's life and I am grateful they had all the resources to do this. Here are photos of Rosie taken this afternoon after a home groom on December 23, 2017. The money spent to save her life is priceless. We are grateful.

The doctor himself was nothing but lovely apologized for the long wait time was Very personable and helpful. The company’s motto is “critical care , comfort and compassion when it matter the most” . Angela however, did not embody this at all. She was nothing but condescending and full of attitude. Even when she was in the wrong saying they don’t take patients leashes and was so full of attitude telling me to go back and check my car and demanding directions from me when they had it the whole time. For someone working in an environment of emergent of people’s loved ones I would suggest you get an attitude adjustment.

Was just in to the clinic on the weekend and was very impressed with the doctor and service. My dog got in to a box of chocolates that was wrapped under the tree. They talked me through my choices and in the end I decided to have him vomit up the chocolate and wrappers just in case, and then they gave him drugs to settle his stomach. Even after all that he left wagging his tail. I hope I don't have another emergency but I would use them again.

This place was a savior. Helped to fill a prescription from another vet at 2:30am and had it ready for me to pick up within 20 minutes. Very polite and very helpful staff.

Our wee cat had sliced his leg at some point during the day and did a great job of hiding it. Rushed him to Huronia at 10 pm where he was taken in for triage. We were advised right away that there would be a couple hours wait due to the severity of other patients; which is nice to know what to expect. Every staff member we communicated with was very pleasant and kind even with the growing number of emergencies going on. Wally was worked on by Dr. Lutman who was very calming and kind, she explained every aspect of what was next or what could happen and even let wally stay over night at no cost so we could go home and get a couple hours of sleep. Wonderful people to have working on your pet. Came to pick him up this morning and he was very well sutured up and happy to be home. Thank you huronia team!

Our dog, Mocha, ingested a fish hook on Christmas Day and needed emergency surgery that evening. The doctors and all of the staff were so caring and understanding. They took the time to explain everything and answer my many questions. Mocha is recovering well and it’s all thanks to the treatment and care he received at HVEC.

First, I knew it was her time, however, I brought my baby in, she was alert, walking and strong vitals according to our Vet. She needed an ultasound. They handed me my dog who was almost dead, shivering in pain. She couldn't walk, move and just looked up into air. Call my vet to change appointment as I couldn't let her suffer. When I went back to my Vet, he was so shocked. Asked what happened....I don't know. They didn't give or even offer pain medicine. I would have paid a thousand so she didn't suffer the last hour. Was told they didn't notice. How could you not? Talked to the medical director and he said human error happens sometimes. Not what I want to hear.

They were absolutely great with me and my dog after she was hit by a truck. They are kind, professional, reasonably-priced and took excellent care of my girl.
