I wouldn’t highly recommend not going this vet they will kill your animals I brought my rabbit to this vet I told vet she is show bunny and she’s grand champion She went there because she had gi stasis and need help all cared for was the money and they did give me meds for her but it turns out it was allergies meds and she siad she didn’t have blockage but she did and she wasn’t eating Or drinking the vet told me to keep giving her food but She obviously was blocked and kept getting worse if you need take your rabbit to vet go to Beaverton cross roads vet they do amazing job I wouldn’t recommend farries lane vet I will be getting a a hold of my lawyer and get my money back because this She passed away in my arms the vet did not do there job right I would definitely not be taken my rabbits or cat or dog here ever again And just don’t what people to go though what I did I don’t just what my money I what what I been tho

We have been taking our two senior dogs and our cat here for a few years since moving to Barrie. All of the doctors are so caring and attentive to our animals. They are sensitive to the rising costs of the health of the pets but still ensure they receive the best care. As one of the dogs has become older and more needy, we've been in touch with the vet almost weekly. Every single person that we talk to or request different foods/medication/questions has been so kind and helpful. I can't say enough good things about Ferris Lane Animal Hospital. They are a wonderful group of amazing individuals.

I took my ferret into dr. Julie deroo. Amazing woman!! The receptionist Laura is a lovey woman as well! She was so easy to deal with. Goku was comfortable with dr deroo and she went above and beyond answering all of my questions and little tasks to help him and myself out. He went in because of a broke tooth at the gum line, dr. Deroo was able to make sure all visible/feelable fragments were out and that he has a good chance of healing without surgery, which was what I was dreading. The initial check up fee is a little higher than what I'm used too. About 20$ more, however I can't complain because he is classified as an exotic. However, I truly feel like I got my money's worth with dr.deroo. All around happy with my visit!

Quick appointment. Our dog had bitten her fur off the back of her leg. Not knowing if it was serious or not, they had an appointment available within the hour. Upon arrival, warmly greeted and short wait. Vet not only looked at her leg but combed her out looking for fleas or ticks. He shaved her wound, washed off her leg with antiseptic soap and applied some ointment to her. He reassured me that she had nothing serious wrong with her. A wonderful experience. Thank you

We purchased two bearded dragons a few months ago. After a month, one started growing larger than the other and attacked the leg of the smaller one (we assume, and now have their own homes). His leg was slightly swollen and he wasn't using it well, although there were no tears on his scales. Two days later the ankle started turning dark, so we made an apt with the herp vet at this clinic. They asked how much it weighed. He weighed 7 grams. We brought him in to the clinic, she looked at him, pulled on his leg, squeezed it, and then stated he was too small to treat regardless of the problem. We were told the pain medicine would likely kill him. We were not told his leg would fall off. We were told to keep him comfortable. May I ask what kind of person would do such a thing? Knowing from the time we walked in that you couldn't treat it, but continue to aggravate the bothered area? Why? To cause pain we cannot manage? Or create infection to fester we cannot treat? That night following his visit his leg blew up like a clear balloon. I cried and just watched him in pain as we were told there was nothing that could be done. The infection spread. A few days later, his leg fell off. I woke up in the morning, and lost my mind. I called your clinic back and was told "ya, she said she expected that to happen" by the receptionist after speaking with the herp. Why wasn't I informed of this? This would have been vital information for me to seek another opinion. I was also told "she said its okay and his foot could grow back." At this point still in tears, I sought out Big Bay Animal clinic. They were kind, understanding and sympathetic, and most importantly, equipped with properly educated staff. They immediately took him in and treated him properly, and told us that he can be treated and healed and he will be okay. NO THANKS TO FERRIS LANE my lizard will be okay, however upon asking for a refund they felt it was unacceptable to do so. You didn't treat my lizard. In fact you denied my lizard treatment when he was entitled to it. Whether your staff were not educated enough to perform such tasks, or were just too lazy to dilute it down to his required strength, is really besides the point. The bottom line is : if I would have followed the advice of your staff my lizard would have likely died. He lost a leg that could have been saved had been properly treated by your staff on the first visit. Thank goodness I consulted someone else.

I was not a client when I needed to bring my hamster in for euthanasia, and although they were not accepting new hamster clients at that time they still booked us in and even sent a lovely card in the mail. Will definitely keep this vet clinic in mind for when my dogs are next due for a visit and might make a switch to here!

I've had nothing but positive things to say about this clinic and Dr. Deroo! She has been my vet for over 3 years now and handles all of my parrots incredibly. My blue crowned conure who is leery of new people warmed up to her right away. Same with my two lovebirds, they were comfortable and at ease with her. Not sure why there's such a negative review below - For every bird I've owned that has seen Dr. Deroo I've always been asked about their hatch dates, but it's never been an issue if I do not know it. They usually would like to know the age of the animal they're dealing with. Their receptionist/clinic assistant, Laura, made the effort one morning to return my call that I had placed late the night before when my conure's blood feather started to bleed excessively. I didn't leave a message, but she saw the number and recognized I had been there before! I will continue to bring my current birds and potential future birds to her! She is well educated and treats my birds the way I do!!! If you have any birds in your household, I would highly recommend taking them to see her if any health issues arise.

For anyone looking for a vet who's going to be measured and NOT immediately assume your pet will need the most extensive and expensive treatment off the bat, definitely see Dr McLean. Friendly towards human and pet; listens, looks, takes his time, doesn't talk down. Checks in post-appointment. I will continue taking my cat there. Also, indie! Not part of the dreaded VCA.

As a matter of fact, I looked around, found a place better, less expensive (around half the price for same products and services!) WAY friendlier staff. So glad I switched. Don't make the same mistake I did wasting money and time at Ferris Lane.

I have 5 ferrets, my exotic vet quit where I was taking them. I called Ferris Lane for a meet and greet, just to come meet the vet as i have to like the vet before caring for my animals. I met Dr. Julie, she is very nice and caring vet. Since I have 3 ferrets sick, Dr. Julie offers amazing knowledge, and care. I wouldn't go anywhere else. The people at reception are very nice too! I’m torn about this veterinary clinic. I feel how much they care about animals but I always (even pre-COVID) felt the staff (not the vets) is always in a rush, there’s a sense of hurry throughout conversations, transactions. The clinic operates in “this is what most should do” and don’t easily consider your animal’s breed, history, family lifestyle or concerns. Overall, it’s an okay experience, they are convenient for us.

If I could give Ferris Lane AH a 0 star review I would. My experience there was horrible. They expressed zero concern for the health of my animal. My snake got stuck to some duct tape I had used to secure loose cables in her tank. I took her to O'Sullivan AH (who were fantastic by the way) and they managed to get her free. She seemed relatively unharmed, but had a laceration along her neck. They told me to go to Ferris Lane as they were reptile specialists and would know what, if anything, would be necessary to care for her. I walked in and asked to speak to a vet about my snake. The lady at the counter said they only have one doctor who specializes in reptiles, but that she 'isn't taking on any more clients'. I said I only want to have a 5 minute discussion with them, mainly asking what to look out for if my snake develops an infection, but she said no, they're not taking on any more reptile clients. I asked if I could call and speak to them over the phone. She said no, they can't give out medical advice over the phone. So I asked her what I could do... she said take the snake to Toronto. I wanted 5 minutes, lady! I was even willing to pay your ridiculous $89+ fee just to even meet the vet. But nope. I'm sure there are some fantastic people who work at this clinic, but the people I spoke with definitely were not one of them. I'll never take an animal to Ferris Lane again, and I would recommend you do the same. Go to O'Sullivans or literally any other vet clinic in town first.

We had to put our beloved cat cleo down there and the staff was so amazing and respectful. The vet was genuinely sad and made sure we could see cleo as she fell asleep. You really get a sense that they care. A week later they sent us a hand written letter with cleos paw print and we thought that was so sweet. This is the best vet weve been to in barrie and I reccomend them everytime. Bring your animal here if you want genuine and actually caring people to handle them!

Just got back from getting my small Bunbun's teeth trimmed and I could not be happier with this vet!! Dr.Julie was so kind and happy to listen to my many questions, and she handled my nervous bunny very easily and with care. The prices are great too, and they even carry many AMAZING lines of food in house for lower-than-store prices!! <3 I'll be coming back for sure with any future issues!

Would like to share my recent experience at this vet clinic. My 9 month bulldog pup was ill and was suggested that he should get an x-ray on his stomach. I made an appointment to bring him in and when I asked the recepionist when he would be finished she could not give me a time. I explained that I did not want him left in a crate for a long period of time and her response was that they had 3 surgeries that day and they would see my pup when they could. I was not willing to leave my dog not knowing when they would see him so I left without doing the x-ray. The next day I received a registered letter advising me to find a new vet because they no longer wanted me as a client. I only wanted what was best for my pup and this is the way I was treated. The letter gave no reason why they no longer wanted me as a client. I find this insulting and just poor customer service.

Dr Julie has been my ferrets dr for many years now, and she and her staff are very kind and caring. I had to just recently say goodbye to one of my ferrets named Lewee and she sat in the room while I saw him off to the rainbow bridge even knowing how busy she was. I thank her for that even though I was a wreck it was good of her to do that.it made me feel as though she really cared. I recommend you check them out as they are a wonderful team of people. Also she is very knowledgeable regarding many animals species!

Originally tried this place because of convenience but decided to stay because of how tentative and knowledgable and kind everyone seems to be. The amazing experience started with the first phone call to inquire about puppy vaccines. I couldn’t believe how much information we received and how personal they made the experience. Other vets were cheaper but didn’t get the same service on the phone.

I am definitely going to be finding a new vet. They were a little too rough with my bunny which upset me, but what really made me upset was the fact we called in on saturday at 12:30 asking if someone could take a look at our 8 week old chinchilla as O Sullivans did their best but they didnt know much about them. We were immediately told no and to wait until our appointment on Monday.. well unfortunately the appointment never came as he passed that night. When I called to cancel my appointment.. i explained why and i got "oh. Im sorry. Have a good day" I understand they were closing in half an hour. But we could have been looked at in that time.. and maybe could have had one more night with our pet.

Absolutely rediculas. I called about nail trimmings for my two bunnies and was told because they hadn't been there within the last 12 months they would need a full exam before the trim could be done. I have been able to bring my bunnies for nail trimmings to other vets multiple times without having to pay for an examination. They told me this is a "new policy" .. clearly they are trying to take more money from loving pet owners. Avoid this vet clinic. I'll be sticking with O'Sullivan's, they are so much more friendly and do not charge an exam fee for just a trim, prices may be slightly higher somtimes but they are available 24/7 with about 12 vets on staff at all times. Plus they do nail trimmings for FREE 4 or 5 days a week with no examination fee for just a trim Ever!! I have never had a bad experience there, I only used Ferris lane vet the odd time because it's a 30 second car ride ..But I won't be going back. It's not right they charge fees for unnecessary services. Thanks.
