I switched to these two veterinarians last year from my previous vet of 16 years because these guys actually care for you and your animal and they are cost friendly. Their staff is super friendly and that helps a lot when your pet (family member) is in distress, it helps you keep your cool as well.

My cat was a patient here a few years ago and things may be different now but I wanted to share my personal experience. My cat was neutered here and when I picked him up he was absolutely petrified. They wouldn't put him in the carrier because they were scared of him so I went into the back room and he came right to me. They read his chart to me and told me they removed his claws which gave me a heart attack as that is not something I would ever want. She corrected herself and said they removed a deciduous tooth. When I brought him for his shots I mentioned I was concerned about a blurry spot on his eye. The vet quickly looked at it, told me it was likely caused by trauma when he was young and it was just a scar. At every appointment here my cat was terrified and aggressive. When I transferred to a new vet, my sister (a vet tech) looked at his records and told me the amount of sedation they used for his neuter was higher than she’s ever seen. I asked his new vet to look at his eye because I had a feeling something was wrong. She examined his eye using a light, scope, and dye and diagnosed him with Feline Herpes which causes eye ulcers. He needed meds and eye drops multiple times a day for several weeks. My cat now goes to his new vet and is always calm and has never been aggressive with them. They can't believe he was ever that way. Don't just pick a clinic because of their prices or hours, or because it's close to where you live - do your research, find a clinic with experienced and thorough staff and trust your gut!

Misdiagnosed my dog completely. Did not take the time to listen to what I had to say or what his symptoms were. The vet told us he had an eye infection, we later rushed him to another vet when he was unresponsive to find out he had eaten something poisonous. We had called east barrie and they told us they didn't have time to see him again, even though it was an emergency. The vet at Huronia said he did not have an eye infection, and they worked with us for 3 hours to help our pup. Huronia vet said the vet at east barrie clearly in their opinion should have never diagnosed him with an eye infection as his eyes were not even red. The rolling back indicated something serious. I asked for a refund and they refused. I asked to return the medication they had given me as I'm not going to treat my dog for something he doesn't have and they refused. In my opinion they do not care about the animals.

The veterinarians are top notch, the technicians are awesome and they are very reasonably priced compared to other clinics in town. I always highly recommend their services to anyone who asks, best vet in town.

Took my cat here twice. The vet spent literally two minutes looking at her and barely spoke to us. You can not know what is wrong with her by examining her for a minute and not even speaking to the owner about her behaviours, habits, issues etc... They gave me the same diagnosis each time. They claimed it was dry skin, despite her coat being soft as feathers and barley any dander. They put her on prednisone to stop the inflammation of her skin and sent us home with oil. I was told it could take months to see improvement, if any at all. Months went by and I saw zero improvement, except for the temporary relief that lasted as long as the steroids did. I took her back. I have lots of experience with cats and I suggested we try a prescription diet for her due to my suspicions of her having a food allergy, they just pushed to do blood testing and a panel, to see if she was in good health to be drugged indefinitely. They yet again drugged her with steroids. He still claimed it was absolutely dry skin. They didn't seem interested in trying a diet of elimination, but I pushed for one and received the first diet. I trusted my instincts and took her to a well reputable vet in Barrie after. My suspicions were correct about her having a food allergy. We've been working on an elimination diet and her skin is responding well to it, proving there was an allergen in her previous diet. They said she had absolutely no dry skin. The other vet basically said East Barrie Vet’s "treatment" plan was pointless. All they wanted to do was drug her, which temporarily covers the issue up and then push for more blood testing. I was even told that this testing would show nothing. I received much better help from this other vet, including the fact that the vet actually spoke to me like she cared about my cat. I highly recommend not seeing this vet, as they did absolutely nothing for my cat. Try vets like Ferris Lane animal hospital, Barrie Vet VCA, Big Bay Point Animal Hospital, or Simcoe Vet. They will help you.

Absolutely Amazing, Dr. Sharma and the Ladies in the Office were , perfect . Gave a huge relief to me when taking my Dog into Clinic. Dr . Sharma took time to come outside the Clinic to advise me and alleviate any concerns I had , and the follow up by his Staff , was also good for my emotions. I HAVE NEVER had a bad experience when dealing with those PROFESSIONALS. My dog is 13 yrs old and although , ownership has changed, I will never seek another Veterinarian. I also advise friends and neighbors with a new pet , to go there for their pet for the best service , caring and concerned follow up.

The staff here are incredible. I cannot even attempt to express how much gratitude I have towards them. If you’re looking for a place to go where the vet and ALL of the support staff truly go above and beyond to treat your animal as if it were their own - please go here! They truly are all so caring and compassionate. I have had pets my entire life and have a lot of experience with different vets as I’ve moved around a lot. Nobody has ever come close to even slightly comparing to these amazing human beings that are employed at the animal hospital of east Barrie. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Don't bring your pet here. I brought my kitten here for a check up and to get his vaccinations . I also scheduled a date to have him neutered at 5 months. I was given a quote with 2 prices for him to be neutered. I was confused as one price was for just over $200. the other for over $400. Both were much more than the $140. I was quoted on the phone, but that is another topic. When I asked what the difference was I was simply told that if I couldn't afford the $400. neutering I could choose the $200. neutering. Of course I want my kitten to have the best care but why would there be a choice not to have the best care? That was 3 months and 4 visits ago . Today I called to find out what all those choices were, as I am not a vet and don't know medical requirements for neutering. I didn't even know what most of the list was. So I called to ask and got the same answer as 3 months ago. If I couldn't afford the $400. I could choose the $200 option. I told them I would call them back when I understood what the difference was because I just wanted my kitty to be neutered properly and charged a fair price. So I called another vet they had one price and provided the best care. When I got off the phone I was left a message from this vet saying that they didn't like that I asked so many questions and should find another vet. I am sorry but I don't agree. I think it is the job of the veterinarian to explain and answer questions. I also think it is wrong to have a pet owner pay double the price to get proper care for their pet. Every time I brought my kitten in for his vaccinations I had to pay for a check up making his vaccinations costs almost $500. When I asked why the vaccination was so expensive I was told that it included a check up.There was no check ups but they did clip his nails. Stay away from this vet the focus is on money not on the care of your pet. I wasn't looking for a discount vet and never would but I playing games with words and not being able to answer basic questions is not good.

If you're looking for a vet that you can feel comfortable bringing your loved ones to I would recommend them highly. We had to put down our dog this past year and how someone handles likely the most sensitive and difficult conversation says a lot about how they conduct their business. They treated us with dignity and respect and I really appreciated the level of care. Thank you again.

Charged my mom $700 for a hairball that our cat had! That is insane. Could of just gave us them meds to see if it would of helped. But no they insisted on blood work and xrays! This vet is all about the money. I feel so sorry for my mom. I would rather give a no star!

I went into the animal hospital with my friend and her dog for her needles, They ended up trimming my friend's dog nails (without asking). Without making sure that the dog's nails were trimmed all the way. But mainly the dogs toe nails were sharper then I've ever seen on any dog in my life. Please PLEASE make sure you guys do your job.

I will never bring my dog here again. I explained the symptoms , my dogs eyes rolling back, he was shaking, very lethargic, and they diagnosed him with an eye infection. I paid $140 for the visit. I drove 2 hours home only to have my dog start to convulse and become unresponsive. I called the vet back immediately and they said they didn't have time to see him even though it was life threatening and to take him elsewhere. In my opinion the entire visit to the animal hospital the vet didn't listen to me or the symptoms I was describing that my dog had. I took him to Huronia Veterinary Clinic and thank goodness for their amazing team of people who truly care. The vet their said there was no sign of any eye infection AT ALL, and he had actually eaten a poisonous plant. They spent hours helping it clear my dogs system and making sure no permanent damage was caused. I later emailed the East Barrie Vet requesting to be refunded as their misdiagnosis almost killed my dog, and i had to pay $140 for medication he doesn't need, and an examination in which they completely missed his condition. They refused. I tried to tell them I needed a refund as I had to spend money on actually fixing what was wrong with him instead of an infection that wasn't even there, I wouldn't have asked for the refund if they had taken us in right away and tried to fix their mistake, but I believe they couldn't have cared less about my dog. Will not recommend and would never return.

My wife and I moved to Barrie just over a year ago and we wanted to find a vet that was closer to home. I went and got a quote from this place to get my puppy neutered and the price was $100 cheaper than what my previous vet had quoted. We went ahead with the procedure and everything turned out great. The staff that I have dealt with so far have been great so far as well. I like the fact that they have a special candle that they light when an animal is passing to let people know to be respectful.

Over the years I've found it hard to find a vet that was reasonably priced, most places charge you over $200 just to walk in the door. So when I found this place, I was surprised, you can get out the door for under $200. That changed on my second visit, $200 for an x-ray that cost them $20, CASH GRAB!, I found out later that the x-rays were really not needed. They then try and push there "special" and "expensive" food on you, saying if I don't get their pet food, the problem will come back, bull s**t!! They just want you to buy from them. It's too bad, I have several pet's but I won't be going back to them!

I needed a place that would show compassion for not only for the pets but also for the client , a place that actually places both first . I called Barrie east their price was a needed surprise.an appointment was set up for the following am for my Shiloh , my dear pet passed away early in the am surrounded by those who loved her I am thank I requested clipping of her fur they obliged . and this clinic is the first one that informed me that my beloved pets ashes would be placed with others in a special area dedicated to these pets in a pet cemetery . the staff were helpful informative and listened a rare trait . the staff and the doctors I have heard go the extra mile . thank you Barrie East for making this time of loss easier . truly first impressions make or break it whether clients choose a vet or not as my first impression of Barrie East Animal Hospital , I would recommend them and look too bringing my other pets . in saying this the only way places such this clinic stay around is to have clients who also show understanding and appreciation to them by keeping communication open regarding fees and accounts , ask questions before treatments , know the cost and work out payments if it is a much needed procedure and pay on time , communicate problems .. that way they know they matter as much as they care about you and your beloved pet. this is a great hospital what makes it work is the people . with out good people we as pet owners and our pets suffer. and as a Pet owner good people and care is hard to find . take care

Very friendly & caring staff. Vet was so personable. He really cares for the pets. My 2 dogs just had surgery and EVERYTHING was clearly explained both in person and on my paperwork. Very clean...but does not smell like other Vets. Best of all...really affordable compared to other places. They strictly follow COVID protocols for yours and their safety. Great place & highly recommend giving them a call.

I've been going to this vet to this for a very long time for my Dog Chase who has had so many accidents, 13 stitches in the back of his throat due to catching a stick, torn claws from running, injured knee and kennel cough which I thought maybe he injured his throat again the vet told me let's rule out kennel cough first before we go any further, which he was right and saved me so much money. The father and Son are very intelligent, always know what injury and healing time for my dog!! Plus very friendly and shows lots of compassion!!

I was a client for many years with my dog. Had to take my dog to the emergency clinic where I had to put it down. Phoned the east end clinic to let them know that I would not need her vaccines due to the fact that she was no longer here, left a message and no one responded in any way. I am disappointed with the fact that I got no response or condolences !

We came in on a Sunday with what we considered a small emergancy with our cat. The vet we usually go to was closed. So because we felt we could not wait we decided to just show up hoping they could help. Missy our cat is 8. She had a small lump that never bothered her and we woke up to it bleeding. I was very scared. The vet saw her imeditaly told us his opinion. Did not pressure us to go one way or another. He did advise removing the lump is the best option because it can only get worst or is at risk for infection. They told us they could clean it, send her home with some antibiotics and we could get a second opinion from our vet...They got us a quote, respectfully let us talk it over and we decided to go ahead and get it done that morning. They removed the lump with surgery and sent missy with us later that night. We followed the instructions and the wound was healing amazingly. 2 weeks later ( today ) we took her back to remove the stitches and we were in and out. Wound is looking great and missy is feeling better she is back to normal now that cone is off her head. The girls at the front our very nice, friendly and called to checked In. The vet himself was very professional, does a great job and does not pressure anything on you but does give his professional opinon. Very nice office I will definitely be recommending this office. Absolutely disgusted in the this clinic! We have taken our pets here the past couple years and haven't had an issue till today, even at the beginning of the day they were even telling us they were going to discount the surgery for our cat cause we have been such loyal clients. Our cat miscarried, my husband called to tell them what was going on and to get here an appointment, he told them that he wouldn't be able to pay until Friday, he was put on hold and then told he could and to bring her in, so he did. If it was an issue we would have waited till Friday. They then said she needed almost $300 in xrays, he said ok, but again he couldn't pay till friday, as we have the funds we just have to move some money around or he could make a deposit. They gave him the impression that was fine. Once the xray was taken there was miss communication all around, he was told she needed emergency surgery (which we knew) and the Dr would call him to go over everything, he never called. The assistant kept calling him and putting him on hold to talk to go talk to the Dr. The clinic kept called my husband asking what he wanted to do and pressuring him to make a decision, giving yet another impression the surgery needed to be done ASAP, and then told him that he needs to pay for the xray before we could take her home. They kept interrupting him and wouldnt let him speak. Hubby obviously got upset, its his cat, and he was given the impression payment wasn't an issue and trusted them with his cat. He couldn't pay so he left. I called to see what had happened, they told me we were no long welcome there, if we didn't pay in 48 hours they would send it to collections and if we didn't come get the cat by the end of the day they would report us to the SPCA.... report us cause of your negligence, miss communication and unprofessionalism.?! These animals are peoples family. We take them to vets to help them cause we love them and are scared and trusting vets to take care of them with compassion, understanding, and a little sensitivity when it come to dealing with the pets owners. People are very emotionally attached to their animals and if the professionals in this industry cant respect that and handle them selves properly when someone's there with their pet emotional and scared, then maybe you need to consider a career change! We got the money and got our cat out, AND THEN They tell my husband that they wouldn't have even been able to do the surgery till Friday, possibly not even Monday? So why the heck did they have us come in, knowing we couldn't pay till Friday, and also knowing they wouldn't be able to help our cat right away anyways? I have her booked in else where for tomorrow morning, doesn't negate the fact that we had to deal with this on top of everything else going on in the world. I will not be recommending anyone to go here anymore.

I recently had a chance to visit this vet clinic with a senior client of mine. I am a senior home support worker and brought one of my senior clients there as her cat was not doing well. We were both very impressed with the care that we received. We saw dr Sharman and he explained all his concerns in detail. My senior client is hard of hearing and vet was very patient during all the conversation we had with him. I do not currently have any pets but if i ever adopt a pet, i will happily take it to this vet office.

Hands down, the best vet team we have ever been to. All of the staff are kind, courteous and gentle with the animals. This is the kind of vet all pet owners are looking for. They are really looking out for the best interest of your pet. If things need to be done, they are honest about what needs to be done right away, what can wait and what is simply suggested. Quotes are given before action is taken, and you receive a few options. They are very upfront and transparent throughout your visit. They are full of advice, in regards to training and behavioural issues, and have plenty of resources on hand to help you with those stubborn minds! Emergency care is next to none. They always find time to fit you in, even if that means they need to stay a little later in the day. Never have we felt rushed. Should the day come that a pet needs to be put to sleep, they are very compassionate. They let you take all the time you need with your pet, both before and after. They do offer and have options for pet memoriams, but they aren't pushy to sell them. If you are looking for great care and compassion for your furry family members, this is the place to go.

Got my cat checked because it looked like she had a ringworm I’ve told the vet that she had experienced something similar before, so I then asked for an antibiotic oral medicine to get it treated ASAP but instead the vet gives me a cream, a few days after (5days) my cats’ ring worm grows in size so I had to eventually come back again get charged for another check up and then given the right medicine. Be aware this vet is just a money maker , he doesn’t care about your pet.

Dr Sharma is the best! I am a crazy dog mom and he really takes the time to explain everything to me. He is extremely patient and thorough, and gentle with my timid little dog. My dog has had to have multiple surgeries and Dr S always helps me figure out the cheapest, but safest, ways to get him through the surgeries. The receptionists are always very friendly, and calm and accommodating during an emergency.

I've recently started taking both my cats here, and I've been really happy with the treatment! Even though it's only over the phone and not in-person vet appointments, everyone has been really friendly, thorough, and professional. Unlike some vets I don't feel overcharged or upsold, and prices have been reasonable in comparison to phoning other local vets. I've been able to get my cats booked in super fast and their curbside system works efficiently.

As always the Staff & Vets are incredibly kind, informative, they take the time to make sure when you leave your visit you understand exactly what is going on with your fur-baby. The are also very reasonable priced (you get much more than you paid for and they don't pressure you to purchase their food etc. We wouldn't go anywhere else!!
