I've been visiting Allandale Veterinary Hospital for 5 1/2 years now with my special family member Angelica. I started my relationship closer, but have moved to Hamilton On, and I recently drove my schnauzer for a checkup. I just couldn't take her anywhere else. In my lifetime, I have never met such a compassionate, respectful, professional veterinarian hospital. If I move out of province, it doesnt matter, I would drive only to Allandale to see Dr. Patricia Lechten and her colleagues. I can't say enough positive things about this hospital. Wonderful experience. I recently brought my kitty to south barrie animal hospital in hopes of having some dental work done. I only had one appointment to have her blood work done to detmermine if she was in good health to go ahead with the procedure. IT WAS A TRAUMATIZING experience. So I made the decision to never return and to come here, to Allandale. Allandale, was amazing. Everyone was kind and efficient and actually cared about my kitty. She was treated like a living being and was pet and loved while she was being looked over. They let me stay in the room while they did the blood work, which kept her calm and me very happy, as the other vet (south barrie) wouldn’t allow me to be there for the blood work and dragged her out of my arms and had to pin her down while I heard it all happening from behind the door!!! It was terrifying. So the fact that Allandale didn’t hesitate and even SUGGESTED I could be in the room while it happened, THRILLED ME! It was an amazing experience and I will 100% return and have all my kitty needs taken care of here.

I'm glad they trim pets nails safely and for only a non-perishable food item. But disappointed they declaw cats without informing pet parents of the risks and afterwards behavioral affects. They also believe in medications before getting a proper diagnosis.

I got both my rabbits about 7 months ago and I’ve taken them to see Dr. Poon twice. First was to do an overall checkup when we first adopted them and the second time most recently just for a half year general checkup. I found Allendale and Dr. Poon through a website about rabbits and it was one of the recommended vets close to me (I’m currently in alliston). Though the 30 minute drive is a bit long, it’s definitely worth it! All the staff are very friendly and greet us right away. Dr. Poon is very friendly and knowledgeable about the rabbits’ diets and really knows how to handle them well. He asked many questions regarding our housing situation and what we feed them to ensure we are providing them a happy and healthy home! A bonus is that they get their nails trimmed for free, since I currently can’t handle the rabbits myself since they refuse to be touched or held, so it’s nice that they can do that for us. They don’t seem to mind when Dr. Poon holds them! Unfortunately for me I’ll be moving down to Vaughan soon, but I will definitely still be going to Allendale for our rabbit check ups, despite the 1 hour drive!

My 11 year old Siberian husky tore both crucial ligaments as well as his mencius; his vet recommended Rehab to help him until surgery, and then post surgery to continue for a few months. I could not have chosen a better Rehab for my boy. The rehab team, specifically Sam, are AMAZING. They care for the animals and help them in anyway. I can't recommend them enough. They have helped him immensely and I couldn't be more thankful. Allendale team, thanks so much for taking care of my boy and getting him back to a great quality of life.

I love it here and my dog Kevin loves it too. The staff are friendly and cost of services is reasonable. Kevin visits regularly to get his nails trimmed at no cost. We get reminders for his shots and annual check up. Sadly, puppies get older and inevitably get sick. Sometimes far too soon. The end of life care was professional and comforting. The staff are truly wonderful here.

Unfortunately this vet was very big diasspointment. My puppy was having really bad rash and ear infections so I took him to this vet. The vet said it was allergies and put him on 2 different allergy medications as well as a specialized food. Needless to say I was paying upwards of $500 a month in medications and food. After months of this nothing was getting better. It was only getting worse. But the vet insisted this was the only treatment. So I took him to a second vet for a second opinion. Turns out it was an internal infection and the second vet caught it the second he saw him. This vet said that it is rare for puppies to have allergies and any vet would know this. 2 weeks later and he's perfectly fine! The vet at allendale only cares about pushing meds and their over priced vet food since they make commission of it... I recommend dr. Neillan at alcona veterinary for anyone looking for a vet!

We cannot thank Allandale vet enough, and Especially Dr. Lechin. We had a panic this morning with our boy, and noticed he hasn’t been the same. Of course today was a day the vet had no room and were so busy. After waiting for them to call us back, seeing when and if they can squeeze us in after Dr. Lechin was able to see him. We were so worried and concerned, but she went above and beyond for us & took care of him while we waited patiently, and we will never be able to thank her and the staff enough. Our boy is now at home resting and will be on the road to feeling better. Thank you, so much for seeing Phillip today, we were so scared and anxious but he couldn’t have been in any better hands. It is so hard to trust bets these days, but I wouldn’t trust anyone else. I 1000/10 recommend and will always recommend this vet to all. ❤️

After moving to Barrie we had to find a new vet clinic.I joined a bunch of facebook groups to get some recommendations. 90% of ppl would go to Allandale vet hospital. I had no doubts anymore. I called to book an appointment. Right after the call I sent all the necessary information on the website, that way the clinic was supposed to get info about my dog's previous treatment. My pug has had severe allergies for the last few years that being said we are not new to his health problems. Exactly a year ago he was put on 16mg apoquel( half a tablet a day, on super bad days we were allowed to give a full pill) and we were bathing him twice a week with special shampoo. This treatment worked wonders. He stopped being itchy, all the bold patches grew back and he finally was a super happy dog again. He had no problems starting 2020 march to at least 2020 December. With our previous vet we had some hope that one day we will be able to remove daily pills from his routine. Unfortunately it did not work and this when it was the time to go to Allandale to get apoquel. The first thing that upset me was the guy bringing this general form to fill up again. I am not sure what exactly happened but either the website doesn't work properly or the clinic did not bother to check the information. Second thing that was not my favorite: no one called me to update me with what tests will be done( yes, I do understand there are things that have to be checked but it is great to get an update and I can give my approval). The Third thing was the most upsetting after I got a call after my dog's appointment. The doctor did not bother to update me that he is going from 8mg a day to 5.4mg.They explained all the charges on the receipt. The price for the pills was the same as before so I wasn't suspicious about anything. All the dog owners who have dogs with allergies know it comes and goes in waves. For the next few weeks he was stable, we were trying to do the same routine: pills, bathing, cleaning with wipes. It was getting worse and worse and I couldn't connect things why the pills were not kicking in. All his paws were bleeding, armpits also scratched to blood and started peeing in the house because he did not know what to do with himself anymore. And this is when we have decided to call the old vet clinic to check what exactly has changed. ( I have always believed that a new vet hospital asks for your dog's health history so they can continue to do the right thing and make them comfortable not changing a routine, especially the one that actually worked). So the question is: did the doctor even check what treatment was before we came to them? Why was I not updated about going to a different dosage of the pill? I was really tired to hear on the phone that they have followed the recommended dose for his weight to avoid any side effects. I am not a doctor but as I mentioned before we are new to his health problems. It breaks any pets owner's heart to see them suffering and I would personally do anything that makes my dog happy and comfortable even if it means a shorter life. A year ago I saw him completely healthy and it was the right combination of apoquel dosage and hygiene routine. I just wonder why was it difficult to follow his treatment right aways or maybe it was a lack of vet doctor experience? I am almost sure the homework ( checking on previous treatment ) wasn't done. I put all responsibility on the hospital although it could be the lack of the doctor's experience behind it. It does not fit in my head that a good vet hospital will not follow the previous treatment that worked 100%. We were offered a free check up and everything but we just could not force ourselves going back and risking again after this mistake and possibly putting him on antibiotics. We found another place , he was put back on 8mg of apoquel a day, healing nicely, fur is growing back and once again we avoided messing up his immunity with antibiotics.

Had to come here under not the best circumstance. The team was sympathetic and quick to get us and our cat into a private room. They explained the steps that would be happening as we said goodbye to our pet. They never rushed us had the room stocked with things that you might need during a hard time (bottled water, packets of tissues) they even give you a buzzer to call them when you are ready for the final step. We found out they give you a clay paw print for free which honestly is very nice and a good way to remember a beloved pet. Over all the team was amazing. I wish I could remember names but I was so preoccupied that it was all a blur. Highly recommended them.

I truly tried to like Allandale but I had terrible experiences in all three of my encounters there all with different pets. I believe they are driven by volume and costs. I won’t get into the whys but trust me when I say keep looking. I was not going to even review them but I got a call from them yesterday regarding my 22 year old Siamese cat that they euthanized a year in September. The call was basically come and pick up your cats paw print or we will be discarding it in one week. Maybe they could have mailed it or been more professional, caring or kind. But nope keeping in true Allandale fashion.

We just moved to Barrie and we chose Allandale to be our 3 year-old cockapoo, Bunny's new vet because of all the positive reviews on Google. The front desk, nurses (sorry I forgot their names) and vet (Michelle) were all super friendly, professional, patient and caring! I loved their 'park your car and wait for your pet' system which follows pandemic protocol. Our appointment was late afternoon on weekday, and the wait time was good. Not to mention that was the happiest parking lot in the universe!!!!! We are so happy that we chose Allandale for our furry baby, and we'll recommend it to everyone!

I would just like to write a post about the most honourable veterinary service I have ever, or heard of anyone dealing with. This clinic brings to light what not just veterinary clinics, but many businesses today forget and should live by; For the Greater Good. I went to this clinic over a year ago for a skin irritation and an ear infection on our 158lb rotti, after spending over 800$ at another local “hospital” on overpriced “microbial inspections” creams, visit charges and other drops and pills that didn’t work. On my first visit, I was taken aback by the awesome. Cleanliness of the entire premises. There were waiting areas designed to make it easy for pets to wait, without being in the way of new pets coming in, and sitting far enough away from each other you can keep your pet separated if you need to. We were brought to the exam room with comfortable beach to sit on. Playing on their computer screen is a screensaver frequently updated by one of the exceptional staff members there. It plays clips and pictures of the staff, doing “missions” across Canada, to help save, rescue, provide payed and neuter services and supplies to and First Nations communities, at no cost to them. There are also pictures of their international missions, to Guatemala where they go and provide the same services to struggling communities there. They do all of this for free, they work 7 days a week and do not get paid to be there, they time time away from their paid jobs to be there. They do fundraising to provide all of these communities, locally, nationally, and internationally free service because it benefits the greater good of these communities, the people and of course, the pets. They do not do this for individual financial gain, they do this because it is the right thing to do, for the greater good. To add to the already amazingness of this extraordinary staff, the Doctor will do everything and anything she can do to help you pet out. They do not charge for recheck visits. For example, this ear infection our rotti has, has been recurring for over a year on and off. After the other vet, we came to allendale. We paid the initial visit fee, and have never paid another visit fee for that ear problem since. Other clinics have had “free recheck within 7 days/two weeks/30 days etc,” No, with allendale, they charge you once, until the problem resolved. We have been there at least 5 times. The exact same cream we paid over $100 a tube for at another local hospital was $30.00 through here, you know why? For the greater good, Because they are FAIR AND HONOURABLE. Today I just wanted to acknowledge the efforts of these amazing people. I encourage you to visit their website, donate to one of their missions, or attend fundraisers. They have a “Petapalooza” up on March 24-25 I think I read. Thank you Allandale Veterinary Hospital for being the one place I can bring my pet and know it is focused not on how much profit can be made, but making them better. Keep being an example for the rest. ????????????????????❤️

A friend recommended Alandale Veterinary Hospital to me and I'm very happy we decided to use them to care for our pup. This Animal Hospital is amazing. Staff are super friendly and the dr's know what they're doing. I've heard people say they're expensive, but they do offer complimentary services when you take your pet there for regular check ups and seasonal vaccines. I feel that what they charge and what they give in return is great value for your money. Luckily we've never had any major issues with our dog. He was in recently for a mass removal and everything went as smoothly as you could hope. His recovery was great. He was 100% after 2 weeks and cleared to remove his cone. To the team at Allandale Veterinary Hospital, Thanks for all the hard work and care you give your pets.

My wife and I braced ourselves for an overwhelming amount of suggested shots and vaccine but we were not pushed at all... they respected our breeders request of limiting a lot of what is commonly recommended and even kept a copy of the breeders papers for future appointments. My best friend is an aging boxer mix named Hope who was suddenly stricken with a mysterious illness that caused her condition to deteriorate quickly. After visiting two different veterinarian clinics and testing her for everything under the sun, I still had no answers and worse, began contemplating saying goodbye to my dearest friend just to end her pain. Finally I called Allandale, in hopes that a fresh set of eyes might help. Everyone, from the receptionist who handled my sobbing phone call to the technicians and the veterinarians, where absolutely wonderful, empathetic and comforting. I felt that the Allandale team was just as invested in helping my girl as I was. Best of all, the experienced medical team were finally able to isolate the cause of my Hope dog's pain and put her on a treatment program. Today my old girl is back to her spunky playful self. I can’t thank Allandale enough for helping me make my baby girl more comfortable and restoring her quality of life. We took our 1.5 year old rottie here today to get spayed. It was our first time bringing her to this vet, and they were wonderful. You can tell they are very knowledgeable with the breed (plenty of other rotties in and out while we were there) and they did not shy away at all when we mentioned our girl is slow to warm up to people. We interacted with at least 4 different staff members and all of them were very friendly and professional, and sure to go through all of the steps of the procedure with us. I was looking for a vet in the area for my cat. He was vomiting and not eating for 3 days, the Allandale suggested to take him to the emergency hospital and promised to review the results as soon as possible after receiving them. That was on a Wednesday, I called the following day and the vet wasn't able to see the results since they were busy. Asked for an appointment and the earliest was in 6 days (my cat could have been dead by then. The story changed when I called again the following Monday, the vet could not talk about the results of tests from the emergency clinic unless they see my cat (why wasn't I informed then...$$$$$ of course). In the meantime I was really concerned for my 4 year old cat, I made several calls after the first attemp of seen the Allandale vet. A fantastic vet in Bolton took us in just the following day. He kept Whiskey for a few hours and after the proper medications we came home and my cat stopped vomiting and start eating and drinking immediately. 3 days later he is himself again. The Barrie emergency clinic didn't help either. Thanks to Bolton Vet I got my cat back and also a vet that cares. I won't mind traveling for 1 hour, as long as we have the right care and a very knowledgeable vet, fantastic staff and a reasonable price.

The waiting room was cozy, with some refreshments in the farther back. It is a safe environment for the animals, making sure they do not feel alot of stress. The wait is a little long, however it is worth it. The clinic is filled with little stands explaining things like ticks, fleas, heartworms, etc. The staff are kind, and they make everything possible to make the animals feel comfortable.

I don't generally write reviews, but after moving away from Barrie and trying out a new vet, I realized how amazing Allandale Vet Hospital was. First, they are very careful about the cost of care, and I have never been told one price and then charged another. Second, they don't try to upsell you. Where she can, Dr. L will tell us to buy cheaper alternative supplements. Third, the vet cares about your pet. When my dog got a cut and had to go to emergency at a all hours clinic. Dr. L called the next day to check in on her and make sure she was recovering well. Gosh, I wish they had a branch office near my new home.

This place on certain visits was half the price from our regular vet. Dr Murphy was the best. Unfortunately we ended up having to make the decision that no pet owner wants to make. We were sent to Allandale through the rescue we got our Beau from to complete his neuter. Allandale was able to complete his neuter as well as remove his hind dew claws and microchip him all at once. Allandales staff were amazing and friendly, we were called multiple times throughout the day for updates on our baby, and sent home with great instructions. They also followed up with checkin phone calls to check on Beau in the days following as well as responding to many emails about concerns on healing. Our boy can sometimes be afraid of the vet, but when he went back for a check, he was more than happy to go in, which means they must treat him like gold inside. So thank you Allandale for taking care of our baby with such great care.

I have been taking my pets to Allandale since it was located on Essa Rd., so for at least 10 years now, and I have never had one bad experience. My pets have seen different vets and we have always been happy with the service we have received. The support staff and Vet Techs are all amazing as well. I have always had rescue pets and all staff at Allandale have specialized training in working with stressed animals and it shows as they go above and beyond to always help my pets feel safe. Allandale has seen my family through all stages of a pet’s life. Their service during end of life is empathetic and comforting. I love they have a space set aside for final goodbyes, as we all know this is one of the most difficult times for us as pet owners. I find they are excellent at explaining options for treatment and answering my questions, and they have always respected the decisions I have made. My dogs have been on on their wellness plans for years , which is another service they offer that I love, as it is the best way to assure my pets get the best preventative care they need. Lastly I will add that Dr. Lechten has called me directly to follow up on my pets care on several occasions which I really appreciate knowing how busy she must be. I cannot say enough positive things about the care and service Allandale Vet Hospital has provided my pets with for the last 10 years or so. Great job! Excellent service! I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Very friendly staff and nice facility. They provide a few complimentary services as well. I would not however recommend this place for rabbits. The rescue rabbit I brought in went in with her own set of issues (that was overgrown nails, odd eating behaviors, low appetite, inflammation around the eye), but came out not being able to put any weight on one of her hind legs (which wasn't an issue she went in with). During the assessment the doctor (Dr. Poon) also didn't seem to have a solid understanding of rabbit health. I was told the rabbit's weight "looked fine" even though she was visibly lethargic and her hips, ribs and spine were sharp to the touch. He also only did a cursory exam of her front teeth without checking the molars. He didn't check them until I asked (with which he found an overgrown molar). She was handled by him more than once without any support being applied to her hind end which I believe may have caused her now existing injury (it's been a few weeks and hasn't shown much improvement). Her nails were also unevenly cut which I had to correct at home. Overall I'm sure it's a nice place for other animals, but I'd be wary of taking rabbits here for now. I'll definitely be looking for another rabbit vet in the area.

No matter when you call, it’s always 30 min before a human talks to you and there are always 9 people before you. People lie all the time, I don’t need a machine to do it to me as well. I have to be honest, the conditions that I used Allandale Veterinary Hospital's services could have been better. My cat, Charlotte, was 18 years old and very sick. She went on not eating much for a long time and it was hard to watch her suffer. I finally made the decision to have her put to sleep. I called several vets within the Barrie area and didn't get much assistance. I was having a hard time asking information over the phone so I went in to talk to them for answers before I made my decision on who was the most qualified to do the procedure. Barely keeping it together, the lady running the greeting desk had one of the ladies in the back take me into a more private room to get my answers. They went over everything in great detail and made sure I was comfortable and even had an option for me when I asked about any financial assistance. Literally the same day I took my cat in to say goodbye and they have their own private room outside of the operating rooms to make sure all parties are comfortable. I made the appointment for 7:30 and ended up being 10 minutes late and they had no problem sticking around after closing to make sure I got my closure. The doctor on site even consoled me and assured me that I was not a bad person for making the decision I made. They even make their own clay paw prints which is a nice little thing to have after she is gone. I also went for the option to have her ashes returned in an urn and I got to pick the urn, which was nice to have that option. After my Thanksgiving weekend I got a call saying that everything for Charlotte was ready to be picked up. Upon arriving, I was recognized immediately which made for a discreet and well-needed stress free transfer of the remains into my possession. Inside the gift bag there was the urn in its own personal carry bag, the clay paw print with her name painted on it, a certificate of cremation, and probably the most surprising, a card from both the Allandale Veterinary Hospital and the company they use for the cremation. It was a nice touch as one of the major things I was worried about was my kitty getting the love and care she deserved even after death. Based on the card, which was signed by everyone over there, they are very professional about the whole thing. The company they use to handle the remains is Pets Above Ltd and I plan on popping over to write a review on them right after this. In conclusion, everything that needed to be handled discreetly was handled as such, and everything that needed to be said was said and everything that needed to be done was done. If I wasn't so dang heartbroken over this whole thing, and ready for another pet, I would 100% be using Allandale Veterinary Hospital again.

So compassionate towards your animals and very fair prices , I had a cat who needed a blood transfusion and was quoted $1600 at a different vet and they did it for $350, this was a matter of life and death they were honest about it but also very compassionate when telling me . They also have vets who specialize in large bread dogs and as many know large bread dogs don’t have long life expectancy, we took our Great Danes there for years and they would always remember them by name . I have been going to this vet clinic for 4 years and have never had a problem. Untill this weekend. I booked my appointment for my 2 fur babies and asked how much it was going to cost me. I was told my whole appointment for both dogs would be less then $100.00. However after all was done that was suppose to get done. And nothing more, the bill came to over $200.00. I was not impressed. Considering I only have enough for what was quoted to me. So I had to leave the medication that I was told was cheaper when I booked the appointment. I will however get the medication when I get paid. I just wish when they book the appointment and give you a quote. Then that is what the owner pays not double because it is a different person, there at the time of the appointment.

I would highly recommend taking your pets elsewhere. Very poor customer service. Made me wait in the parking lot for over half an hour before taking my pet in for treatment. Then on several occasions when I called in there was a 25 minute wait to talk to someone. They seem to be more interested in your credit cards than your pets care.

After a lot of research in a hospital that would perform surgery on my dog, I finally chose Allandale which I can say was a big mistake. I read all the reviews and decided that this was the perfect place to go because of how kind the staff were. I had been emailing and sending pictures of the complication my dog was having with a doctor and she told me that the surgery could be done. After driving two hours to get to the appointment I was told they did not have an appointment for my dog. The girls at the front were very rude and they did not even seem to care about my dog. When I showed them the emails I had with the doctor they started to prep my dog for surgery and when I asked for the consult I was told I would be getting I received attitude because "normally surgery is just a drop off and you don't meet the doctor". Finally, I was put into a room for the consultation and was then told that the surgery wouldn't be done (even though the doctor had seen the problem and the girls had already begun prepping my dog). Allandale does not provide what they say they do, don't waste your time.

From the moment I called to book the appointment to the time I picked my cat up after he was taken care of I was made to feel completely comfortable and knew my cat was in good hands. When I called I was given clear information on how the appointment would be handled. A staff member came and got my cat from my car, Dr DePass called me to discuss my cats symptoms and options on what would be done and gave me a timeline to come back and get him. She called my to give me updates on how he was doing, his blood test results, etc. I was so beyond happy with how everything went. Dr DePass was very informative and friendly, the staff I spoke to on the phone and the ones who came to get my cat and bring him back were very nice. Great service no doubt.. I have been with this vet over 10 years I have had no issues other then cost. Yes great service always comes with a cost. I do get this. But when is comes to every visit being more expensive then any other vet over and over again I feel like I am getting taking advantage of. SO I STRONGLY RECOMMEND DOING PRICE QUOTES WITH OTHER VETS AROUND TOWN. You will be surprised in what you will fine out... I did call them to let them know about my concerns and after being a customer of theirs for over 10 years there was nothing they wanted to do other then saying good bye. I am a small biz owner my self and any customer of mine of 10 years leaving would hurt my feelings,, I would try my best to keep them as customers... like the old saying says ........throw a customer a bone once in away...... any ways is was nice while it lasted....
