This Veterinarian is classified in the category of Animal hospital.
Possibly the best vet you can find. They are patient regardless of how scared my dog is, and handle emergencies very well.
Do not go to this place ! Very poor service, was billed for $600 for an exam I didn't even see. Big $cam!!!!!
Dr.Shin is a good doctor - very patient and listens to the pet owners concerns and doesn’t push anything - discusses treatment plan ,possible risks and listens to owner feedback before recommending a treatment plan or alternatives; doesn’t force anything and revises the plan for progress after consultation with owner. I would recommend him to see your cat. he was very helpful in taking care of my cat during this final months. The staff were all great as well and compassionate.
Horrible experiences. I would encourage any pet owner to consider any other option outside of this practice. The staff does not care for pets as an owner would hope for and are just out to charge owners additional $. They are not helpful, provide incorrect opinions and should be avoided at all costs unless you want to continue to be charged with no real solution. How can one provide a treatment plan only to have a new solution a few months later that is entirely different with an increase in cost.
I have always taken my pets here. The best staff and service.
At first I had thought that my pets were taken very good care of here as they were suggesting test after test to run on my pet, but $1000 deep and she was diagnosed with a parasite, and the vet said she did not need to be de wormed and will probably just "go away"... I feel uneasy that I did not push back and request the treatment sooner, but I trusted the vet's opinion, I feel as though I was taken advantage of as I was very worried about my pet and willing to do anything to make sure they are ok, it just shocks me that so much testing was done but no treatment.
Clean, spacious facility with engaged and caring staff. Can be a little pricey compared to smaller operations, but they've always treated our pups well.
Wonderful experience. I came in with a potential Emergency with my dog, and the staff were all kind, caring, and calm and got to action right away with helping my pet when I walked in. I will definitely be returning here for my regular vet!
The staff are all fantastic and caring. They are open until midnight, giving piece of mind when dealing with the stress of a sick pet.
Caring staff that clearly love what they do ! I know my fur-family is in good hands.
WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD AT A VETERINARIAN FACILITY. RUDE AND IGNORANT STAFF. WHEN YOU CALL AS INSTRUCTED ON THE WINDOW AND BY THE STAFF YOU ARE GIVEN A VOICEMAIL THAT SAYS THAT YOU WILL BE RESPONDED TO IN 2-4 HOURS. AND THIS IS FOR AN APPOINTMENT THAT THEY SCHEDULED. INSANE. TOTALLY LACKING IN PEOPLE SKILLS. TOO BAD THAT THEY SHOW MORE EMPATHY TO THE ANIMALS RATHER THAN THE PEOPLE WHO PAY FOR THEIR SALARIES. I HAD TO CALL THE OFFICE 4 TIMES TODAY TO GET A PERSON TO FINALLY TAKE MY DOG TO GET HER VACCINE SHE WAS SCHEDULED FOR ON THE DAY OF HER FIRST VACCINE TREATMENT. FOLLOWED UP WITH TEXTS AND EMAIL CONFIRMING THE DATE AND TIME FOR HER APPOINTMENT. WE SHOW UP ON TIME AND IT WAS A TOTAL GOON SHOW.
I have nothing but praise for this facility. I have taken all four of my dogs there over the last 30 years and would not go anywhere else. The vets are great, admin staff are super and the groomers top notch. They discuss all procedures and costs in advance allowing you to participate in the decision making process. If you love your pet then look no further.
Wow! Only wish I could have met the veterinarian and staff in person, but safety protocols mean this is not possible right now. Very caring team. Took excellent care of our pet feline.
Truly the most loving and caring vets I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Amazing support staff and excellent doctors. Highly recommend!
For a vet hospital, the service and staff are friendly and caring. This place tries to make up with high prices on pet food, etc. Best to go to a mass pet retailer or online for pet food.
Great no contact experience, our cat was happy and healthy!
Excellent service, very helpful, pleasant and honest.
Always awesome great staff
Wonderful staff! They have great knowledge and so friendly to my puppy and all the other animals! Will recommend!
After 40 minutes driving to there, I checked in 9 minites late but they cancelled my appointment. After 3 minutes waiting on phone in front of the door, they said doctor can not see you because it’s 1 hour appointment and you are a few minutes late.
I was looking for a vet in the area I moved into. At first I was a little apprehensive to go her simply because it's by the Shops of Don Mills but this is the best vet I've been to yet! When I had to take my little Jack Russel in because she was sick the vet took his time and showed me the overall cost and was very honest about what I needed vs. nice to have without breaking the bank. After our visit he called me not once but twice to check up on our little fur baby and made sure she was doing well. I'm very happy with the overall staff and welcoming service we've received.
Oh how I love Dr. Randy and the staff at Don Mills Vet ! My two dogs are my child substitutes - I freely admit they are members of my family, and not just "pets" or livestock. The care is superb, and the fees reasonable for both care and medication. i.e. at my previous vet they charged (are you ready for this ??..) $30 per dog to trim their nails !! At Don Mills, this service is free for regular clients. Also the Metacam medication my elderly dog is on is cheaper here by 15% here vs the previous care provider. From Carrie at the front desk, to Jan the groomer, to the vet assistants - everyone here is professional, deeply caring, and excellent. Can't recommend them enough.
Very welcoming and friendly staff. Super helpful, knowledgable and truly care very much for pets well being. They are my go to place whenever I need special care for my cats.
Unbelievable care by people who believe pets are family and not possessions. They also do a very admirable job caring for and adopting out rescue cats and kittens. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
Great vet here and they do grooming without sedation!
The best!!! Satisfying!!
Been a client of this practice for about 3-4 years now. I take my 10yo cat here for her yearly check ups and I have always been satisfied with their service. They have great, flexible appointment times and excellent service. I trust my kitty in the hands of these experienced personnel
Highly recommend Dr Andrea Smith. She was thorough with my dog, kind, caring and took her time explaining my dog's condition. My primary vet clinic was completely booked today but my dog needed to see a vet immediately for care. My vet clinic recommended me calling VCA Scarsdale and the entire staff was very accommodating! Thank you Dr Smith, Zanks and Melissa!
Been taking my cat there for the last 5 years and loved how it was before....now after reading these comments I am looking to bring her somewhere else because she is sick. I wasn't aware that new admin was like that!! I spent thousands of dollars for check ups and blood works and a lot of cat food (buying from them for over a year) that never helped my Fifi with her overweight problem, the opposite! After following the right amount prescribed now she is even bigger and struggling. If anyone can suggest another vet in the don Mills area I'd appreciate it to let me know. Sad because it was very convenient but I will not risk my cat and my wallet anymore.
Great team providing topnotch service to all shapes and sizes of pets in the neighbourhood.
The most capable and caring doctors. Staff are competent and super friendly. Highly recommended.
I've been bringing my pets here for years, and the staff just gets better and better! Compassionate conscientious people who are always friendly.
Very friendly and professional place. Expect top tier service if you take your pets here.
Gave a diagnosis for my dogs paw. Vet was looking at the wrong (healthy) paw...????
Love the care and concern they have for my pets. 2018 review. *** JUNE 2020 - My how things have changed. I no longer recommend this veterinary clinic!! Very sad to say since new ownership took over there has been an incredibly disappointing decrease in the level of service, care and integrity that I had been accustomed to receiving. I started going to Don Mills Vet in 1987 to Dr Randy Marshall and never doubted the level of care my animals received. My status as a long-standing customer, having spent thousands of $$$, fostering 30+ dogs, and 100’s of shared clients in my pet care business means NOTHING to the new regime. Even a complaint to head office was ineffective in the decline of the business. I have received and documented 20+ reports and complaints from previously loyal and long standing customers- not happy and reporting unsatisfactory or negligent behaviour in the care of animals left in the clinic. Dogs left unattended for more than 12 hrs overnight, charging for excessive tests, missing key clues before rendering a diagnosis, poor customer service, and failure to disclose costs before giving treatment. 30 + years down the drain. I no longer have confidence or trust in this organization and have taken my business elsewhere. Shame on you VCA Canada Don Mills Animal Clinic.
I trust them for all the care that Darby my poodle of 13 years needs.
Today I'm extremely disappointed. I had an appointment for my cat and even if every businesses are re open at the moment (due to Covid), the staff wouldn't even let me in so I could explain and show the vet exactly what the problem is. This would have been the 10th time or so you would have seen him for the same problem. Him (he is a really big cat) munching at his paw for no obvious reason (not going into details here because it's not the point and would make the review really long). My cat was seen most of the time by Dr. Courtney. Dr. Courtney, you are a really nice person but that being said, I want to emphasize on your incompetence and the fact that all you are (have been) trying to do is prescribe any drugs and hope it will reduce the symptoms and never tried to find the root cause. I have been a very good client for 3-4 years now and today you lost me forever: I will never again set foot at VCA Don mills and strongly encourage everyone reading this to do the same. You are getting one star because I can't give 0 and despite your incompetence, you and all the staff are always extremely polite and kind. I can't express how disappointed I am and tonight I will report you and the clinic to the OVMA (Ontario veterinary medical association).
I love it... Dino so and so.. Honestly these people are awesome and know how to deal with animals.
Absolutely honest and thorough. I took my cat here in March and April. They cut her nails for free, and even gave me a free carrying case when they saw mine was broken. They are professional and friendly, without judgment. They found an ear infection, which most vets miss, within minutes of me being there. The inspection, diagnosis and treatment, took less than 30 minutes for under $200. The vet is amazing and friendly. I defy anyone to find a more friendly, accurate and professional vet in this city. 5 stars and i've had pets all my life. I wish more places were like this.
Staff is very nice and knowledgeable.
Worst experience at any veterinary practice that I have taken any of my dogs to.
Always knowledgeable, high quality of service, easy to get appointments, our family has been using them for over 40 years.
Terrible. Staff provided incorrect diagnosis for my dog. When I returned a few weeks later, it was a new diagnosis (completely different), which also ended up being incorrect. They are not knowledgeable and provide incorrect diagnosis's and just want to be able to charge pet owners more money for their inaccurate services. I wish I knew what I knew now so I could avoid this so called "veterinary practice".
I keep prolonging my attempt to book my 3rd appt. I’m considering changing clinics. Every time I come here I’m always prescribed with a medication $. And if You don’t know how to apply it, there’s a charge if they do it for you. And when they show you omg terrible sloppy example not clear. Example ear drops or the flea and tick drop that was a waste of money stupid me. She made the application sound so confusing so She said “would you like me to do it for you” I said “yes please.” I thought wow this clinic is amazing for noobies like me so caring. when she did it it was just a drop on the neck. And mentioned that’s a service fee. A second of being shocked of possible charges. Asked her what the charge is she said the front desk will tell me. Great... so I just gotta find out what it is and just pay it since the service is done. Also when they did the ear drop I couldn’t see she just took her to the back and I heard my dog crying as if she was being held in a crate for 3 minutes... then I was told they put the drop in and there’s a charge. I didn’t even see if they did! Right then and there I felt so stupid that I paid for that simple service and a tiny drop. Why couldn’t she be nice to me as a first time patient and new puppy owner and just do it for me once so simple... I guess nothing is free in the world for such labour. Gosh I felt so stupid when I agreed for the assistance of the drop and knew I lost a ton of cash that day. I am new to having a puppy so I wanted to make sure I knew how it was done I asked can you show me and she did it as showing me and I got charged. Be prepared you visit it’s a quick in and out and $$$. When I went it was $60 per visit minimum charge. And they have to bill you for other things there was never a flat fee of $60. I only came to this clinic because it was not to far from my house. But I’m willing to change clinics. Summary: Wishing for transparency instead of pure sales or forced sales. Nothing horrible about this place. Nothing super friendly. Just average. The bill will indeed go up. When I was told my dog had an ear infection at 4 months old I was surprise there was no proof. I just said ok what do I do about it. “Here let me give you the medication drop.” “Great that’s very kind.” Go to the desk “$$” what! This little bottle cost that much! I still have it I only used it twice my puppy doesn’t let me go near her ear so wasted money. Spend so much money on this place makes me feel the pain of owning a dog. You know when people say having a dog is expensive? I didn’t believe it. And I think food and toy and pee pads are not expensive for my small yorkie. But the clinic you go to can make that a fact. Hope you have a good experience and no issues with billing if you go. Prior to my review 2 people agree that billing is high.
My many cats & dogs went here for over 15 years. Now my only dog goes here. Love the vet; prefer the office staff before this place became a VCA franchise.
Expensive and the staff seem to try to pull the rug over you and charge you for anything they can. Even worse is how often and poorly they have misdiagnosed pets. I would avoid at all costs based on experiences that I have encountered and that friends have experienced.
Caution all pet owners to strongly consider looking for a different vet. The staff here have misdiagnosed my pet on multiple occasions, do not admit their mistakes or oversight, are not thorough and only seem to care about charing pet owners continuously due to their staff and practice negligence at the expense of your poor pets. I would look anywhere else before taking a beloved pet to this practice.
Would never ever recommend this practice to anyone. It is extremely expensive for incorrect diagnosis, pathetic treatment, unfriendly staff and does not seem welcoming to pets. Every time I have picked up my pet, she comes home and drinks an entire bowl of water...do they even provide water at these places? I would shop around for another vet and caution anyone with using this practice.
Have always been great with my cats and Friendly staff.
Great vets, really caring, though after a point even they couldn't save an old dog no matter how beloved she was.
Incorrect diagnosis, poorly trained vets and money comes first. Do not recommend this to any pet owner. At no point do you feel that they have the interest of your pet at heart. They provide inaccurate diagnosis, the vets do not seem to care at all about the pets and you end up wasting both your time and money. There are much more suitable and qualified vets out there, if only i had discovered this sooner.
I took my last dog to Don mills and the way the staff treated him and how well he was looked after his entire life ensured i will not go anywhere else. Our new puppy has now been going to Don Mills for 2 years and he enjoys walking through the door and seeing his friends at the front and i know all the staff there will treat him like their own.
My dog loves coming here or is it the treats she gets here.
Thanks
Do NOT go to this Vet. They prescribe strong pesticides to sick dogs without going over the risks and benefits, make wrong diagnosis and provide third world care and charge an arm and a leg for their " services". Be warned. They were excellent when Drs. Sheldon and Redhill were there but recently very bad. Also taken over by an US company.
Very disappointed with Don Mills Veterinary Hospital. Reception staff are rude and disrespectful, very unprofessional. Pleasant to you until after you pay. They DO NOT return voicemails, messages or answer your questions. I left several messages regarding an estimate I received for a very expensive procedure, they did not return my call. Attempted several times to make an appointment and even left a message indicating what I was looking for, requested a call back, no response. Repeated issues with insurance submissions, do not complete services requested such as nail trims when being brought in for other services. Aside from Dr. McCarthy and Dr. Courtney, I am very dissatisfied with my VCA experience. I would not recommend this veterinary hospital. I’m switching!!
I think it’s very hard to trust that an exam is necessary as we are used as humans to go to drs and leave with a prescription for Advil. First time here I wasn’t comfortable with all the exams the dr asked and she explained why they were necessaries. One year later, came back, asked for more exams, I said no to the ultrasound , I was convinced it was an UTI and said yes only to blood/urine work. The dr was so worried that she called me on Saturday to beg me to take my dog to the hospital for an ultrasound (their technician was not there on duty) and that call saved my dog’s life. Yes, the exams are expensive, but if a vet call me from her home to check on my dog and ask for an exam that she will not make money on, she deserves my respect! I am eternally grateful for her help and care!!
1 hour drive only to wait 3.5 hours with a dog in pain and nothing absolutely nothing was done for over 3.5 hours. We ended up leaving to find another vet. I do not recommend this Vet clinic at all.
The care is excellent, honest and the staff are friendly, professional & very kind.
Wrong and inaccurate doctor diagnosis, very expensive, unknowledgeable staff. Not worth it for your pet...much better options out there than this horrible clinic.
Great staff that goes beyond duties to help, sometimes understaffed at Doctor level and not cheap
Highly recommend NOT to use this veterinary. Use to go there with my dog, not even one time I was happy with their service. They use all kind of trick to charge you more. If you go there be prepare for expensive bill .
Our vet for 15 years they are very competent profrssionals.
