Just want to thank the entire team for the amazing care they gave our dog Ripley. She spent four nights at the hospital and it was a very scary time for us. They gave us great updates, answered all our questions and reviewed options. As a result of the care she received our girl Ripley is doing much better and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤

I just came back with my cat after two days being in the clinic for surgery (obstruction in the intestines). If I could rate them 6 stars, I would do it without a doubt. You guys are freaking awesome! Let's start from the diagnosis. I brought my cat Monday morning (2 AM) and they took good care of him, examined him and performed tests. The x-rays didn't reveal anything clear, so I decided to bring my cat back home and monitor him (which was one of the options I was given). I was explained what could be causing my cat's discomfort, but the doctor told me to give it some time to see how my cat's condition evolved. Unfortunately, by Tuesday afternoon, my cat wasn't doing great, he was hiding, not eating and hunched up (clear signs of abdominal pain), so I called them back and urged me to bring him back to the clinic for further examination. I did as I was told, and 3 hours later, my cat was going into surgery due to a blockage in his intestine. It was not only caught on time, but accurately diagnosed. The x-rays took that day were reviewed by 2 different doctors in a matter of minutes, and they both agreed surgery was necessary and urgent. They gave me the option of having another test done, but told me it would only add to the bill given that the were almost 99% sure of what was going on with my cat. And obviously, in the interest of time for my cat's well being, the best next option was the surgery, which was communicated to me along with the risks of the surgery. This only shows professionalism at its finest, and also caring for my bud. Additionally, from the receptionists, to the technicians and the doctors, they all showed so much concern and the cared so much about my pet, I felt my cat was the only patient there, since everything was done promptly and everyone seemed to know what was going on with him. Which was a surprise, because I was there for hours and the amount of patients that come and go is tremendous. So really, if you want the best experience in difficult times, and your pet to be cared after, please bring them here. Also, there was a constant communication between the clinic and me, on the days prior to the surgery, they called me at least once a day to check on my pet, which was awesome. And after the surgery, the doctor called me twice (the surgeon himself!) to give me a status update on my cat, the possible future developments and how we should act in case any of those situations was presented. My cat wasn't eating after the surgery, so one of the possible things was to insert a feeding tube, which the doctor was trying to avoid at all costs (given the discomfort it can cause). He finally gave me the option to bring my cat back home, to discard stress as a cause of his not-eating behaviour, which I gladly accepted (since I missed him dearly) but of course, they gave me all the instructions on how to take care of him and when to bring him back to the hospital in case of emergency. The facilities are outstanding, they are even better than several clinics I've been to as human. They have procedure rooms, a rehab centre, just to mention some perks. They understand pet owners' feelings and allowed me to see my cat after surgery several times without hesitation. Even right after the surgery, I had to bring him his food, and since he wasn't ready for visits yet, one of the technicians kindly asked for my phone and took some pictures in his little cage, which was awesome! That night I was able to sleep better thanks to that. Finally, prices can be considered high, but I guess that depends on the person. I don't like to be cheap with my cat, and save some pennies which in the long run may result in even more expenses and probably more issues for my cat's health. I was always communicated the prices of the procedures, or a range in which the cost could fall, before anything was done. I don't have a lot of money, but I told them money wasn't an issue, since I just wanted my cat to be healthy. I will definitely bring him again, if there are future emergencies!

Any time we've had to have an emergency taken care of, doctors and staff have been excellent. Yes, it costs more, these are accredited facilities, and specialists, available when you need them. Very good team.

Our dog was diagnosed with bone cancer in his knee in Sept/17. We were referred to this hospital for a second opinion and treatment. Before we decided to amputate, we wanted to get some tests done to ensure it hadn't spread. We were quoted $1500 for the tests but the bill came in at $2200. We decided to amputate after they confirmed it hadn't spread. We were quoted $2000-$3000 but the bill came in over $4500. We asked if they could confirm what type of cancer it was and was quoted another $100-$200 for staining - were then charged $500 - when they should've been able to tell us this post surgery anyways. They told us it was hystiocitic and recommended chemo as there was a strong chance of it spreading through the blood. At this point, we couldn't afford anything else nor did we think was a good idea as he'd already lost alot of weight. We switched to raw food after alot of our own research and fortunately, our pup is still with us over 18mths later. The surgery went well but the fact that every single step of the way we were quoted one thing and charged significantly more put an extremely bad taste in my mouth. Some people may not have been able to afford it and would've made decisions based on the quoted prices. Buyer beware.

Every experience that I have had with the 404 Veterinary Emergency Clinic, they have been friendly and professional !

Catrina Jankowski

Horrendous place. Zero compassion. How the woman on the phone sleeps at night is beyond fathomable

Jeff Goodfield

tremendous service and support and although expensive, not outrageous by any means compared to the others or what you will find with your own vet. thanks so much.

viclarson

Amazingly caring and knowledgable vet and veterinary staff, worked with us to find the right care for our cat. Thank you so much - you turned a very stressful situation for us and our cat into a positive experience.

This clinic saved my dog last year during Covid19. He had developed severe otitis causing meningitis and they referred me to a clinic in North York with a neurologist and surgeon available over the weekend to save my dogs life. My humble apology.

-5 Stars if I could, money hungry. 0 Customer service or empathy for pets or clients. Tara the Customer Service Manager works 9-5 at a 24hr facility what a joke. This place made me SO uncomfortable, First time they quoted me $5,000+! for a root canal and cap. After getting a second opinion I found a cheaper price for the root canal and was told the cap 404VCA recommended was an upsell. I called 404VCA and explained that I am looking to book elsewhere. After talking to our family vet in Oakville they tried hard to during covid to accommodate my pet but told me that they had to get a 3rd party dentist to use their facilities, unfortunately the dentist did was booked into late April. In hast and worry of my dogs tooth being infected (which they would have to extract, his canine tooth), I made the horrible choice of going back to 404VCA to rebook my pet, this time just for the root canal and after explaining my financial situation, I was told that I have an appointment booked for March 22, they even sent me papers to sign and said if I put a deposit that I could pay the rest when I drop off my pet for the procedure, which I agreed to. I kindly asked to review the papers and I told them I would call back to confirm my pet was actually booked for the 22nd before proceeding to make my deposit. After a few hours I had time to review and sign said papers, when I called to confirm if they book his appointment, Bethany who picked up asked me first to PAY IN FULL after "pulling up my file". I calmly explained that my pet has Trupanion insurance ($1000 deductible) and to please look into my pet file there should be notes on our previous discussion so we can be on the same page. After a brief hold, now she asks for deposit of $1600+ on $3,000 bill for a root canal, just so she can book the appointment. Again having no choice as I did not want to risk my dogs tooth to get infected explained for the second time that I am comfortable to pay a deposit of $500 now to book the appointment and the rest of the $1100+ on the day I drop off my pet. Bethany, bless her soul, says that's OK and takes $500 from my master card. After taking said $500 she proceeds to tell me that she can not book the appointment until I pay the remainder of the $1100+. Out of sheer frustration I did exactly that and paid the rest of the $1100+ like an idiot. NOW GET THIS. I asked in frustration is my pet now booked for the 22nd since you have all my money. Bethany tells me after taking $1600+, "Sorry to tell you are not booked for the 22nd and I can not book you an appointment at this moment, we will have to call you back tomorrow to see when we can get you pet in" SO WHY TAKE MY MONEY BETHANY IF THERES NO APPOINTMENT?! Out of pure rage I hung up.. WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS IS THIS?! I immediately reminded myself that there other pet dentist out there that actually care about clients and pets and I called 404VCA for an immediate refund. I could hear Amanda grinning over the phone during the refund process and I knew right away I made the right choice, I just don't understand what kind of money grab they think this is, my pets health is on the line. I will go to any other place EXCEPT for 404VCA, all they care about is money and that's upsetting.

My brief experience with them was really pleasant. Very helpful and well priced.

$440 for a quick exam, get some antibiotics, and have urine sent away for analysis for an expected UTI. I hope you enjoy my 1.5 days salary for your 10 minutes of actual time spent on my dog...my wife sat in the office for 2 hours waiting. At my regular vet this would have cost approximately $140. $300 markup. For what? One day this will come to an end when veterinary medicine is taken over and regulated by the government, and I will be one of the loudest people for it..I have been taken by emergency vet hospitals before..nothing new to me...so enjoy it while it lasts..don’t spend it all, make sure you invest some of that money you are robbing from animal owners.

Jessica Dalrymple

Waited over 4 hours to be seen, finally leaving around 4am without even seeing the vet as the only soul I'd seen in the last hour was the cleaning crew. There was only 5 patients all night. My regular vet opens at 7am. I'll wait the 3 hours in the comfort of my own home and save half the money. Pros : Reception is friendly and the building is very cleaning.

FREEDOM LION

changing estimates, threatening to put my dog down or put her in a shelter if i didnt comply with their theivery, go anywhere but here.

Jeff Wiener

The hospital seems like a well oiled machine. Very organized, and although we had to wait a while, we were quite pleased with the compassion and care our dog received. If only our health care system was so well run!

Natasha K

If I could give this vet 0 stars I would. The service is terrible. I brought in my robo dwarf hamster who is in a tremendous amount of pain. He suffered from a hard fall and is having seizures and his eye is bulging out. His behaviour is completely different than before the fall. He is sleeping at night which is not normal for hamsters (they should be running on their wheel all night) and shivering as well as twitching. When I brought him in the ladies were laughing at me and my friend while we were crying and refused to put him down when he is very clearly suffering. They only way they could help is if we spent hundreds of dollars. As we walked out with the hamster the lady at the front desk proceeded to say "WOOWWW" and they all laughed as the door closed. TERRIBLE PLACE.

My utmost thanks to the kind and caring staff, from the receptionist to the vet tech and the vets. This was our 2nd occasion to bring a very ill kitty to them. Both times we received outstanding care for our fur babies. The final outcome we knew was going to be sad but their kindness made it more bearable.

Elizabeth Magee

What strikes me the most about this clinic, is the kind and atmosphere. Everyone is so helpful and friendly!

If I could rate them a zero, I would have. Stay Clear! I won't even discuss the outrageous prices! Lets just get to the point, Dr Joanne Fagnou tries very hard to intimidate you. Without a doubt, she thinks she's 100% better than you are! She is quick to put down any surgeon you see and loves to gloat on how wonderful she thinks her and her surgeon are. What she seems to "FORGET" to tell you is the fact that her surgeon is her husband and the two of them own the joint, so that puts even more money in their personal bank account! If you require rehabilitation for your animal, make the trip to Barrie. Its half the cost and the people there are very personable and accommodating. If you have an pet emergency, go to Toronto Veterinary Emergency Hospital, 21 Rolark Drive in Scarborough, its well worth the drive. Point blank ...... stay the hell away from this place! There are way better facilities and specialist to go to!

Almost 4 years our dog Jäger had back surgery. He couldn't move his back legs because of a slipped disc that caused the vertebrae in his spine to rub together. With the help from the staff at the 404 Referral Hospital and their rehab centre, he got about 95% mobility back in his legs. He is doing great! Thank you to 404 Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital, If it wasn't for your team I don't know what we would have done. About 3 years ago our cat Lexus had a blockage and again without the team at 404VERH my cat would have passed over night. They dealt with me calling all the time bring him in thinking he was blocked again and it was just me being paranoid. He is doing great now. About 1 year ago our other cat Skittles wasn't acting herself and we brought her in for a check up. The staff did everything they could to help us out. Last month Jager needed another surgery this time it was to remove a MCT. Dr. Gagnon did an amazing job on his surgery. The staff at the 404 Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital always go over and above for my babies. I will always trust them to care for them.

Just went to this clinic with a guinea pig in a critical conditions that the pig developed overnight, was impressed to be accepted on request and with the human approach the doctor had towards the pet, thank you!

Jessy Brown

Took our fur baby there today after she cut her paw pad pretty deeply at the cottage, and I wanted to make sure I was covering my bases with caring for it properly. Not only were we seen surprisingly quick as a walk in, the service was great from start to finish. We were given solid information on how to continue caring for our pup during her recovery, along with following up with our regular vet in a weeks time. I got exactly what I was looking to get out of the appt, then to make it all that much better.. they didn’t charge me! Anyone who owns a pet, knows first hand how even the shortest of appts is followed by a redonk bill.. I mean, it’s why so many of us have pet insurance. This just made my day! Big thank you to the wonderful staff working today! Roxy and I thank you. Roxy even says she will overlook the attempt at taking her temperature rectally. ????

Sam Keeper

The amount they charge is 300% more then the going rate. Its disgusting that you are taking advantage of people in a vulnerable position.

Sarah Elizabeth

Brought in our 4 month old puppy after we believed she was reacting to a few routine shots from earlier in the day. From my initial call to the hospital to our arrival the staff were warm and welcoming. They made me feel relived when I arrived and after checking her, reassured me that she was fine. Great overall experience.

Madison Bowles

Finally! An emergency vet that at least knows a bit about rabbits!! Definitely would recommend!! And the staff are really friendly!! :)

I have taken my dogs here for rehab and fitness (underwater treadmill and pool), dermatology services and surgery to remove small mass on one of my dogs and have always been very impressed. They have excellent staff, state of the art equipment/facilities and show care and compassion for the animals and their families. I never hesitate to recommend this hospital to anyone in need.

Robbreon

Yeah your team are amazing support when my cat was taken there today and the guy can't even tell gender even after being told and inspecting her. I was told that an X-Ray would be all I needed and it would tell them everything. However after I'm told there might be something in her bowel, I can pay more money to get it checked and then possibly up to 5,000. He then brought up having her put down. Clowns. I would leave less than 1 star if I could. Disgusting humans.

Devan Del Medico

This vet was an absolute life-saver last night when we had to rush my dog for treatment after he had a terrible run-in with a porcupine. They were able to see him quickly and charged significantly less than another clinic had. I appreciate the transparency as well as their kindness to include a complementary nail-trim while my little guy was out from the anesthetic. Thank you so much.

Reese

Kind of a waste. My parrot had a cut near his eye, puffy and swollen, got me very worried. Went here to spend 175 (about $50-75 more than other specifically avian clinics) + seperate exam and medicine costs, for anti inflammatories that didn't address the red irritation in his eye. 12 minutes on the phone and brief exam time/175+ dollars. His eye then got worse and I wasn't about to drop another 175 to try again. The result was the same as if I didnt go here. Just info for other concerned bird parents when looking for treatment. Side note, not related to this place specifically, but - unless your parrot is significantly dehydrated, IV is a common vet scam.

Richard Torcato

Took my dog there to get looked at for a bump above it's eye. The quote for their service was way too high. They still charged me over $200 just to look at the dog and fix nothing! Avoid this place. I went to the animal hospital in Bradfod and they removed an insect larvae in minutes of seeing the dog and threw in some medication all for less than 150. Go to Bradford save a lot of money. Will never go to 404 for anything again. Rip off!

Jon

NOT AN ANIMAL HOSPITAL JUST A CATS AND DOGS HOSPITAL. I could go on and on but this place is pretty useless unless its a cat or dog kinda dumb for the only emergency clinic in this area. Like theres probaly 20 other cat and dog vets on town at half the price so thanks for making a profit in the worst way.

Tasha Hanson

We had an emergency situation with our 10 year old dog. They gave her the best care they could and were very compassionate. They explained her situation to us clearly and honestly. Their prices are completely reasonable for emergency services, we actually paid less than the vet had initially quoted. We brought her Saturday around midnight and had to return Sunday morning to say our goodbyes as her condition had worsened. The staff were incredibly compassionate, explained every step of the process and did not rush us through it. They have an excellent system for caring for pets and their owners when the time comes and although we were devastated, the doctors not only assured us that we had made the right choice at the right time but treated us like family, making it a little easier on us and our girl. Big thanks to this clinic for the outstanding care and compassion that comes with the excellent service they provide.

M Gasser

I have been meaning to leave a review for this clinic for a long time, and just used them again and was reminded of how great they are. I see many negative reviews and to be honest this doesn't surprise me since who really has a great time when the are with their sick pet at an animal hospital? Is it expensive? Absolutely - however, this is just the norm, and any other clinic would charge the same (I believe their entry price is $110-$120). When i say they really do care about your pet, they do. We brought our cat here, and unfortunately left without her. They gave us two choices, and didn't push us or make us feel rushed in any way. They even allowed us to come back to the private area where she was, and although it was sad to see all the tubes, I was so happy I got to be with her. I was absolutely heart broken after they performed the euthanization, and they were so respectful. The vet's allowed me to be alone with her in the room and gave me as much time as I needed. About 3 weeks after, we received a card in the mail, with the vet extending their condolences. I was surprised to see that many of the techs had also signed the card. We had also asked for them to make copies of her paw prints so we could later have them for tattoo's, and they did this right away for us. We have also brought our dog Otis here a handful of times for things like allergies/upset stomach, and other than one time their wait times were very minimal. They are really helpful and warm in the office, and this makes a great space especially for a building that holds a lot of stressful and negative energy. They are also great for over the phone help. Right now with COVID-19, they have techs reaching out to you once you fill out and ER form, and they will help triage/suggest if you need to come or not. We called today as Otis had an accident with his dew claw, and they could have easily told us to come in, when we really didn't need to. Instead, they helped instruct me on what to do, and this saved us a big bill/potential exposure. All in all, this ER animal clinic is great, and we have never had any negative experiences.

Pagan

Staff are extremely understanding and professional in their approach to treating their patients and their distraught people. The wait time was not excessive and the hospital is fully equipped for surgery to rehabilitation if required. Most importantly, vets are knowledgeable and deals with emergencies with professionalism and compassion.

Andrew Mortensen

Our dog Finn had 2 life saving surgeries at VCA Newmarket . The experience from reception, to the techs and doctors (especially Dr. Scott) was always very good. They were responsive , caring and easy to deal with. The care was excellent and we are very happy with VCA.....THANK YOU VCA

Mike Antone

The prices here are outrageous...

Kim Jensen

These vets are amazing! They saved my dogs life. Yes they are expensive but the care that you are getting is unmatched by any where else. They even helped get financing and kept the bill as low as possible. We got daily phone calls not just from a tech but from the surgeòns themselves. The staff here are knowledgeable and kind and dealt with a crying owner in such a gentle way. I would highly recommend them whenever your pet's life is in jeopardy. Thank you so much for giving me my Brody back.

Rick G

It's terrible to see how these organizations take advantage of our love of our pets. We brought our dog in with some symptoms of vomitting and stomach issues. They asked for $2700 for a diagnosis + 'estimated' treatment. Found another vet that treated our dog for a little under $500. This should be criminal. If you can wait take your animal to your trusted family vet!

Dawn Young

After an hour and 45 mins waiting in my vehicle in 30 degree weather with a sick 4 month old kitten... and another hour and a half of me waiting in my vehicle in 30 degree weather for ANY type of communication, they finally told me they were running tests after I called to find out what the hell was going on. 30 minutes after I left, they called to say my pet could go home. Absolutely no concern for the fact that it was 30 degrees out. No communication at all. They should have taken my pet inside, sent me home and called me when they were done ... not tell me they had more critical cases and they would get to me when they could.

Jt Residences

There's a reason my vet said go to Toronto vet hospital and it's because of the rates and scammer here. Had 2 friends go here with horrific results

Thankful that my cockapoo's ear infection and rear limb paralysis was resolved during my visit. Dr. Giglio called multiple times with updates and was pleasant, informative and patient. I went in weary of a quick diagnosis but was pleasantly impressed with the level of care and detail that was provided. Thank you Dr. Giglio!

Tim N

We took our puppy that was in serious condition.. We were prescribed some antibiotics. When we called and had explained that our puppy had thrown up her antibiotics and to ask if we should give it to her again "the receptionist laughed at this and thought it was funny." Our puppy is dead now, but it wasn't a laughing matter you need to show SYMPATHY for people we know your a business, but there should be a level of customer service that should be upheld. The behaviour of the receptionist who spoke to us is disgusting.

Dec. 9, 2020 - called at 7:57 p.m. to say we needed help and to start intake. 18 year old kidney cat was straining to pee bloody urine. We were in the parking lot as of 8:08 p.m. and called to confirm arrival. I was called at 8:20 p.m. by the tech and we did further questions. I was told they'd be coming to get her. I called again at 9:36 p.m. to see what was going on because my cat had a further accident in her carrier. I was called at 9:51 p.m. and they said they were coming for her shortly. My cat was not taken inside until after 10pm - 2 hours after arrival and I was told she'd be seen right away. I called again at 10:48 pm and was told she was being examined and I'd be called shortly. I called again at 11:19 p.m. and actually, my cat had NOT been examined and the vet was in the middle of a procedure on another animal. I was not able to leave instructions in advance for overnight care. When asked when she would actually, realistically be seen, I was told not before 1 or 2am. I was then told they had 14 patients that evening - at which point I told front desk that I should have been told that at 8pm because there are 2 other emergency clinics which would have taken her if this garbage hospital actually communicated. Absolutely disgusting service. I took her home just before midnight because at that point I was furious with the service and obviously they decided she was not a priority and she could wait to see her regular vet the next morning. FRONT DESK WILL LIE TO YOU. STAY AWAY. Money hungry clinic.

Hilary Allen

If I could give zero stars I would. I genuinely feel sick writing this. DO NOT GO HERE. This place is a total scam and it is disgusting... they take advantage of pet owners who are desperate for answers. An X-ray, an ultrasound and a bottle of pain medication for my dog cost over $1300.00 for zero answers. Nothing has been resolved and they couldn't give me any justification as to why my dog is limping and whining in pain. She came out of this clinic worse than when she went in, she is refusing to walk now and is even growling when I touch her. I never would have taken her here if I knew it would cost the amount it did for minimal to no care at all. It is so evident that this places motives are solely money.

Prince Adam

This is a vet clinic that is primarily focused on over-charging people. They not only over-charge you just for visiting them, they then charge $600.00 just for an x-ray and another $300.00 just for blood work. This is just another form of extortion. In other words, over $1,000.00 just to find-out what is wrong with your pet. Not to mention doing this to people when they are un-employed during COVID-19. They should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of people. Horrible!!!

Bay Breezes

I had occasion to bring my sheltie to the 404 referral hospital due to a leg fracture when she was a puppy. My own vet was recommending immediate surgery and putting a pin in the leg. Since this was going to be a dog that participated in agility, I wanted the best care possible for her. The 404 specialist recommended crate rest with monitoring via x-rays to ensure that the fracture was healing properly. The fracture healed perfectly with crate rest and you would never know that there had been a fracture. I would definitely recommend the 404 referral hospital!

Oleg Waisberg

I wish they'd have a zero star rating here. Brought my dog in with constipation and hernia problem. Two surgeries were done within 6 months overall charges $10k and the problem is still there. If you complain about it they simply send you back to the forms you signed which state that they are not responsible for anything. Unprofessional, arrogant, strictly profit oriented. Avoid this place!

Mike James

After we spent over 4k with your establishment on my dog to find out she has cancer and were told she needed radiation but there was no knowing it would help her. It would be aggressive treatment. She also has stress colitis from the anxiety of going to vet appointments. Your staff said there wasn't anything else you could do for my pup. We asked for a palliative home care plan for our dog. The advice given was to see a regular vet in 6 weeks. My dog suffered while waiting for your team to get in and then suffered after as well. Aftwr a couple weeks we thought she was going to die. We called a hospices vet to come look at our dog, expecting to put her down. That vet gave us better news and had meds with them to start before they left. My dog is not suffering as much as before and she's doing so much better to now and I wished you had offered us this kind of treatment. I'm very disappointed and disgusted with how it looks that when there isn't big money to be made you just give up and tell people to go away and good luck.

Dianna Haughton

I can absolutely say you will not find a better place to take your baby to. I drive 2 plus hours to see him and do not want any other vet touching my kids. Staff are beyond kind and helpful and go so over and above. Everyone is down to earth and professional. They truly care about your kids and do everything they can to help keep the costs low. They are thorough. I know my dogs have had the most gentle handling and great experience here. You won't find better. Thank you for for always fitting me in. Thank you for your kindness. Thank you for your help. My chihuahuas will only be with you no matter how many hours away i have to drive. Thank you again.

Brian Morris

Not impressed. Went to visit them today, and they have quite the scam going on, with a mandatory telephone consultation which they charge $113. I don’t need a phone consultation, I needed a Vet to examine my dog, and provide treatment. Obviously, this did not pass the sniff test, and we moved on to another vet hospital that is not trying to take advantage of their customers during this covid recession. I will be having words with my Vet for giving me this referral.

Lynn Henderson

I find the staff at this clinic to be very knowledgeable and caring for the animals they see. My questions are always handled with patience and I never feel as though I am a bother (even though I am sure I often am!). The facility is beautiful and many features have been put in place with the animals' comfort in mind. I have had consultations with many of the specialty services and have not yet met a doctor or staff member that I did not like. I routinely recommend this facility to my friends and family, and will absolutely continue to do so!

Brenda Griffiths-Nanacsik

Our Lily had a sudden intestinal bleed, and as you can imagine we were so worried for her. The veterinarians and technicians took such good care of Lily, and us as well. No question was left unanswered, no concern left unaddressed. We brought Lily home today after a week of round the clock care at 404. Thank you so much to Dr. Walter, Dr. Keefe, Dr. Krizmanich and Dr. Turnquest, as well as all the technicians who had her in their care, and the reception staff who were so kind and caring. Lily received excellent care at 404.

Sabrina M

When my dog Turner was having issues they took her in immediately and gave her vip care. I trust the team, they are knowledgeable and kind and made sure my dog came out of their doors alive and healthier than when she was carried in. Incredibly impressed and grateful.

Skilled staff, but appointment times mean nothing to them. Be prepared to wait an hour even with an appointment (3x had to wait 1hr plus before the appointment). Once I had to wait another 30 minutes after seeing the doctor, just to pay "no one was available" to take my $ (it was 3 pm on a Wednesday). A little bit of professionalism and punctuality would go a long way. And no, I don't want a Tim's card while I wait another 30 minutes (60 minutes in total)..

We had to call the 404 emergency vet clinic twice for our 2 year old cat. They were not only supportive but also incredibly compassionate, patient and answered all of our questions. Such a comfort to know we have such dedicated veterinarians and vet assistants who are going to love our fur babies as theirs. Thank you VCA Canada 404 vet

Went to this emergency clinic yesterday with my dog who was suffering from a UTI. Arrived at 4pm and at 6pm I asked how much longer as I have a very senior dog at home and a puppy that can’t go too long without bathroom breaks and food. I was told it was at least another couple of hours. If I had been told that when I arrived , I would have gone elsewhere but by then it was too late. My dog literally needed a 10 minute consult. Wound up leaving and got an appointment the next day with a vet in Newmarket.

Suzanne Brooke

I have had to take my dog to this clinic several times and I know as soon as I get there that my puppy will get the best care possible. The vets, vet technicians and the wonderful people who work reception are all very dedicated, professional and caring. If there were ten stars I'd give them to them !

Yesterday was our first time bringing our dog coco to this emergency vet. This was the only clinic that was able to take in our dog right away ( we had called 5 emergency vet clinics)I’m so thankful they were able to take her in when they did, the staff was super helpful and I’m beyond thankful for the vet and techs who were able to take care of our coco and make her comfortable and well enough for us to bring her back home !

I have used the 404 on several occasions - both for emergency treatment and as a referral hospital, and I am always very happy with the service provided. Most recently I needed their emergency service and was not disappointed. My girl received wonderful care. I noticed some of the comments posted complain about the cost. Emergency service and referral service are specialized services and you are going to pay a premium. Health care for your pet is expensive, just like health care for people is expensive (we are lucky here in Canada). I understand that the overhead to keep a facility staffed 24/7 with board certified specialists and top notch vet techs and support staff is high. I have an awesome regular vet clinic which is always my first choice, but in a time sensitive situation I need to know that my pet will be triaged quickly and responded to based on the seriousness of their problem - the 404 does just that. They provide great care and have a wonderful staff.

Madelaine Rostek

They took great care of my dog who ingested a toxin and required immediate attention. It was really scary but they assured me she would be okay and only charged $35 for a test. Very affordable for the knowledge and support they provided.

Lindsay-Isabel Quesnelle

We had to take our dog here on Thanksgiving 2018 to be put down after he suffered a major stroke. They were efficient, but my biggest complaint comes from them promising that they'd send our dog's paw print in the mail as something to remember him by. It's now late April -- no paw print. Even after phoning a couple times in late October and November. It's not a big thing in the big picture but it's a big thing to us.

Heather Little

I have been here on several occasions and couldn’t ask for better! From the minute we walk in every person who we have contact with is excellent. So happy with this place.

Brooke Simmons

I'm so grateful that we have this place in our community! They really saved my dog and also were very caring and considerate to me. The team was so compassionate overall during a very stressful time. They also were very good with communication, both during and post surgery.

Meredith Blunt

Wonderful emergency care. Efficient, friendly, clean and quiet. Easily accessible for a 4AM emergency visit. Compassionate and concerned, technicians and vets. Dr. Crain spoke to me plainly and descriptively and with care through my dog's examination, never missed a beat to keep me informed of her thoughts and findings and recommendations. Very fairly priced services, including sending along the visit info to our regular vet for follow up care. Though I hope we don't need another emergency visit for our dog, I would bring her back to them without hesitation.

James Queen

They prioritize money over your dog's health.

Our cat, Bisous, is not just a pet, she’s a part of our family. This week we watched her deteriorate rapidly and felt utterly helpless. The team at 404 was quick to jump in and offer their help - attending to not only Bisous’ health, but also my troubled heart. Tara Harrington (the Client Care Supervisor) was extremely patient, empathetic, and humble. She was able to bring a smile to my face, despite the grey cloud hanging over our shoulders, and made me feel like I was a cherished friend (rather than a client). She offered her genuine opinion, and helped my husband and I find the best option to finance the expensive surgery that was required to save her life. Let’s be clear - a trip to this clinic is very expensive. But you’re paying for board certified surgeons that are the best of the best. In some cases this may not be necessary (a less qualified vet may be able to jump in), BUT if you fur baby has a complicated emergency this is the place to be. While I hope you never need to visit 404, all I can say is: you’re in great hands.

Thanks for the misdiagnosis twice. Also thank you for refusing entry due to the fact that your opinion was wrong. It was not epilepsy. It was inflammation in the brain causing seizure. What school of medicine did you all attend. That is second thing you look for 1 head injury 2 inflammation Dont assume a diagnosis i told you all and you said. “ they are knowledgable doctors and know what they are doing” 3 clearly no. He is dead. 3/3 screw ups. Good job

Honestly so impressed with the staff! I have a fear reactive Chihuahua which makes vet visits super difficult and stressful. I went in worried my little guy would probably have to be sedated because he was having his eyes checked out (which can be scary for fearful dogs having strangers in your face). My little guy was so much more calm than I have ever seen him! Despite there being many new people (vets and vet techs) in the room and being handled by them, he was not reactive at all! They were all so kind and very well educated and ended up giving us a diagnosis and peace of mind for a lifelong issue of his. The fee for seeing a specialist was definitely worth it!! I no longer have to worry about issues that other vets didn't have answers for or spend hundreds of dollars on "this might help" temporary fixes. I am so happy I came to this clinic.

Sharon Steinman

We have been taking our cat and dogs to 404 for acupuncture and rehabilitation. The service we received there has been excellent. Dr. Mosley has been incredibly compassionate, supportive and accessible . We recently had to euthanize our 20 year old cat and we ended up going to 404, it was positive experience during a very difficult time.

Lindsay MacDonald

I took my cat here on the holiday Monday evening. I was particularly stressed out about having her seen because she was unwell and I would be leaving the country for 10 days the following day. The vet NEVER came to see her and the nurse did not even touch her. I thought she had a urinary tract infection, which I explained. The nurse came back after about 1 hour and said that I could attempt to get a urine sample at home and bring it back. I locked my cat up by herself, stressing her out even more, and finally got the sample and returned it that night. The next day when I finally got a follow up call from my own vet, she told me that they didn’t even test my cats urine... they just discarded her sample. This was extremely annoying to me, because I then had to proceed having my boyfriend look after her and try to get another sample. Why would you make me get a sample for nothing??? This is horrible customer service. I will not return.

Mr.Potatoe

There too many vets on staff in here. You don't know who your going to get and what their experiences are. Under their recommendation to leave our dog on observation over night we did. Within an hour your decided to use your so called drugs and killed her! What happened to just keeping her under observation? This should have never happened" and that's all they had to say to us. Thanks for robbing us of our money and our family member.

Alanah

Amazing experience Dr. Kisiel is one of a kind and the staff are wonderful. They have taken care of my dog Bowser and going above and beyond is an understatement. Also thank you Robin ! Highly recommend

Took great care of our sometimes trouble-making pup on two occasions where he got himself into health trouble. Bills were a little outrageous, but I guess that’s to be expected for emergency service?

K J

Brought my puppy here around midnight one night due to some issues got there they put me in a room right away they said just a few minutes we waited about 20 to 30 min until vet came in... the assistant nurse came in twice to check on us and ask some questions. The Male Night time vet is very nice guy wanted to run a bunch of tests some i feel were not needed but I agreed just in case. So an hour later they came back and wanted to keep my pup overnight on IV fluids and collect urine sample I did agree due to her symptoms. They did draw me up a quote about 1800 for blood work urinalysis xray IV fluids overnight stay. Next morning they called said they found infection in her uterus said she needed to be spayed we were reluctant because we want to breed her when she's old enough once! then fix her! They tried to push for an immediate spay we said no whats the other options. They said antibiotics i feel like this was a try to grab some extra money from us! And was not even told all the options just was told to spay her immediately. We chose antibiotic route. They told us come at 1pm to get her!!! we sat there 1 hour from 1 to 2 and our dog still was not ready to leave we were told to wait because the vet was with another patient.... we didn't end up getting our dog until 3pm!!!! And at 3 vet was still busy i had to tell them to give me my dog now !!!! rudely. So vet technician brought her out ... and gave her to us! Waste of two hours! Of our dog in cage in back and us sitting in waiting room!!! After they got our money the night before they didn't seem to give a sh*t making us wait two hours for our dog. They gave us results for everything said they would call us later that day for the urinalysis results.... they did not call us that day or the next finally I called on the third day asking results they said they had to get vet to call me when she had time later that day. They did not call so finally the next day after me calling again i did speak to female vet was told my dog needed antibiotics for a uti. They did find out what was wrong! but the lack of good customer service is where it all goes wrong plus once you pay they don't seem to care you have to follow up with them! Don't expect them to remember.

My dog wasn’t feeling well after going a walk and I was beyond concerned. I took him to 404 Vet Hospital and in less then 2 hours they were able to examine him, give him an injection and send him back home with me. They did not take advantage what so ever and I know now where I will be taking my dog if there is ever another emergency. Thank you to your vet team! I did not feel rushed, they stayed on the phone with me and answered all of my questions. Really appreciate it and recommend it.

I am in the automotive business and people think our industry is bad for prices. This clinic takes advantage of people everyday. I don't think they own pets themselves, and if they do, they obviously aren't paying over $1,000.00 just to see what is wrong with their pet. That is just another form of theft. Not to mention the wait time of over 4 hours just to get this done. Clinics like this should feel ashamed for charging customers this way. It is unjustifiable.

Sharon S

Great staff. Beautiful, comfortable clinic. No long waits. We love Dr Waisglass the dermatologist we visit at the 404.

We can not thank the staff at VCA 404 enough for the compassionate care they gave to our sweet boy, Steve. After months of being run around by our family vet with no answers, we were referred to the Internal Medicine Team at VCA 404. Dr. Walter and her team took only 48 hours to diagnose our boy with Stage 4 Lymphoma. Dr. Walter and the team put together a Chemotherapy protocol for our boy and started his treatment immediately. His treatment took place during a province wide Covid-19 lockdown and we were so worried his treatment might be delayed, but members of the Internal Medicine team made his treatments a priority and rearranged appointments so that he received all of his treatments on schedule! They were so dedicated to his care. Unfortunately, we caught his cancer too late and we lost our sweet boy a few weeks into his treatment, but we can not sing enough praise for the Internal Medicine team at VCA 404. They took such diligent, loving care of our Steve during the darkest hour our family has ever faced and they deserve to be recognized for it. Thank you, we appreciate you all, for everything you do! Love from The Eadie Family

Rachel Robinson

We took our dog in today. Wasn't a "emergency " however our dog is family and we don't want him to be uncomfortable. The staff were extremely kind and took great care of our boy , even with real emergencies going on the staff were still calm and happy to quickly help those people with there pets. A very good experience for us and our boy.

Our Standard Poodle Charlie suddenly collapsed on a Friday afternoon. We took her to our vet who said he thought she had a pericardial effusion and sent us to your hospital, 60 minutes away. We weren't sure she(Charlie) would survive but after the vet removed 250 cc of fluid from her pericardial sac we were able to take her home. The service was terrific as was the care. Everyone at the hospital had empathy for us and Charlie. We recommend the hospital highly for its compassionate and efficient care.

Staff is extremely caring , helpful, and they truly care about your pets wellbeing. Unfortunately our dog likes to get in to everything eat stuff he shouldn’t so we’ve been there one too many time. But every time it’s been the same experience when it comes to the staff and them being knowledgeable and caring for the situation. It is expensive however it is an emergency clinic. Thank goodness for pet insurance

we had to take our old sick dog on the weekend to the vets but our regular vet was closed so we ended up taking him here for the first time. They rushed us in immediately and our dog was seen and we were given a proper diagnoses with options on how to proceed. Everyone was so sweet, nice and caring. Thank you so much for taking care of our sweet boy while he was with you ❤️

I am so impressed with the service I received from every single staff member I spoke with. they were all so very kind, compassionate and pleasant. Dr. Allegrini is a treasure and I wish she could be my full time vet. my bill was less than half of what I expected. recommend highly.

My 12 year old Papillon was referred to the 404 Veterinary Emerg & Refer. Hosp. by her regular Veterinarian because she was suspected of having a collapsing trachea. The staff of Internal Medicine at this facility left no stone unturned when it came to testing and letting me know the options I had for her treatment and prognosis for the future. I let them know exactly what I needed from them and they certainly delivered. My dog and I were there for about two and a half hours while tests, x-rays and examinations were carried out and the ones that could be read immediately were while others had to be sent out. I am certainly impressed and so very thankful for all their work and courteous diligence. I will contact them again if necessary and won't hesitate to bring any pet I have referred to this facility if the need arises. I recommend the 404 Vet. Emerg. & Ref. Hosp. to anyone. A big thank you to everyone involved.

After dealing with Animal Welfare and appointments with other vets we were referred to Newmarket to get a severely abused kitten assessed. We were under the impression that the owners of the kitten were under investigation by Animal Welfare and the vet in Newmarket would not release the kitten back to where it was abused. The kitten was on an I V drip and was in critical condition yet it was released back to the abusers within a couple of hours, not only did they give the kitten back they gave it back to them in our cat carrier. I feel that Newmarket being in charge of the welfare of this kitten should not of released their responsibilities of care to someone who is known to of not cared for this poor kitten in the first place. We have rescued numerous cats for over 30 years, we have dealt with many vets, in my opinion Newmarket is by far the most irresponsible one we have had to deal with. As the pictures show this was a very serious situation the kitty was in.

Dr. Justin Levasseur, Laura, and the team at the 404 Vet Hospital were wonderful to work with during the difficult decision to put our beloved Meca to rest on December 25. The team was responsive and compassionate. They walked us through the process and gave us plenty of time with our girl.

It's a great place if you want to pay an absurd amount of money for useless tests on your animal. This place is exactly like that mechanic shop you DON'T go to (because you'll be paying for stuff you never needed in the first place). This place is nothing short of a scam, stick with your local vet if you can.

Daniela Giampietro

My dog has a small piece of branch stuck on the roof of his mouth at the back of his molars and could not swallow properly. We rushed him to the hospital and they took him in right away when I indicated it seemed like he was in distress while we were waiting. They got the piece of branch out so quickly and sent us on our way. What a huge relief. I felt like he was in really good hands there. Thank you to the staff that helped him. I am forever grateful !!!

Stephanie Mayes

Honestly I would give 0 stars if I could and I haven't even stepped foot into your practice. I think your customer service skills are 0. Who ever takes care of phone calls is very unpleasant to talk to. Your rates are absolutely outrageous. I mean 270 to just look at my pet ? That's foul. Also when asking about payment plans the woman on the phone sounded like I was crazy or something for asking.

My Husband and I had to rush our 2 yr old Chihuahua mix in last night after a sudden collapse and vomiting. The staff helped us right away and took excellent care of our baby. The vet's and technicians explained everything to us and were quickly able to diagnose him with a sever allergic reaction. They gave us all our treatment options and were able to treat our baby right away. Today he is doing amazing and it is all thanks to the staff at 404 Emergency and Referral Hospital. On behalf of our family Thank You so much for you compassionate and professional care!

I had a great first time experience at 404 Vet. My 10 year old pooch had 3 seizures in one day, 404 were great at seeing me at 10pm at night, explaining clearly what my options were and making me feel sure she was in good hands when I chose to leave her there overnight. The team are lovely friendly people, I was allowed to visit my dog in the back before I picked her up. It's clean and welcoming. So happy to have found this place!

Kind, friendly, and professional staff. This veterinary centre gave us the best possible experience during a very difficult time. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a caring place to bring their pets.

I would highly recommend this 24/7 veterinary emergency clinic. The staff were kind, professional and very dog-friendly (not out experience at the emergency clinic down the road). Our dog was well taken care of by vet tech Laura Perry and Dr. Levis who each took the time to explain everything in a very compassionate way. Service was swift and reasonably priced. The consultation fee was $137 and included an examination and some extra testing (QATs). We had a good feeling when in the waiting room we met a couple who drives all the way from Pickering for pet emergencies because of the amazing service here in Newmarket - now we know why!

I took my 4 years old dog, who is a rescue and can not walk, to this clinic because of a 2 day high fever. The staff at reception were great and friendly. After initial assessment, I was told that he needs to be hospitalized. Since he was refusing to eat for the last 24 hours, I agreed to keep him there for couple of nights in hope that he will receive some intravenous fluid to keep him hydrated and for the source of fever to be discovered. Next morning, I went back to check on him. They took me inside where they keep animals. I approached his cage and my dog was even unable to shake tail for me. To my surprise, he was more dehydrated than when I left him. He would only opened his eyes when I called him. There were no water or food within his reach. As I am writing this, I still shake in anger and sorrow. I asked why there was no water and was told by staff that water was just removed from his cage. I asked for him to be taken out of the cage. When I offered him water he drank a full dish of water immediately. I asked to talk to the vet. After waiting for half an hour she showed up. She told me they were unable to locate the source of fever. I asked why there was no water available, why his mouth is dry she said since he was receiving intravenous fluid there were no need for water! Since I am a doctor myself, I asked to check his medical chart over the last night to see how much fluid he was receiving. It was not even half of the amount he was supposed to receive(according to weight, dehydration and fever). I got very upset and asked who is responsible for this. Instead of accepting her fault and trying to fix it, the vet told me that she will not argue my dog's treatment with me and tried to minimize my concerns for my poor dog who was burning in fever to financial concerns and the costs that I had payed so far. when I found out talking to her is pointless I asked to talk to the chief of hospital who was not available at the time. Since my dog was ill and i did not want to waste anymore time I asked for a copy of his medical chart including the details of intravenous fluid he had received to take him to another hospital downtown Toronto. The staff at reception told me that according to the vet I am not allowed to have a copy of the overnight stay chart!! and that only the results of tests will be sent to the next hospital I chose to take my dog to. I was so devastated at the time by my beloved dog sickness and my poor choice to keep him for a night without water and food in that clinic that I did not argue back. I took my dog to another hospital where he was diagnosed with a large abscess in his neck. no need to say that my dog was not even fully examined by the vet at the 404 hospital or the large abscess would have been detected. I gave 2 star for the staff at reception who were helpful. Definitely not recommend the medical care.

I can not begin to even express my gratitude to this veterinarian office. They are compassionate and caring and helped me through one of the hardest moments in my life. My cat Tie ended up becoming very ill and I called them despite some of the reviews here. They helped me throughout the process, going above and beyond to reach out to me since I couldn’t be there with him (I had surgery so my husband had to take him), and showing nothing but a deep understanding with me. Sadly my cat had to be put down, but the staff talked me through the entire process and left nothing out. It was a tragic moment letting go of our beloved guy, but it could have been so worse with an office that didn’t show the level of caring, empathy, compassion, and professionalism that they displayed. Thank you guys 100% over!

This place was absolutely fantastic! We brought a little cat here because she was having breathing problems. They took her to the back immediately put her on oxygen did some X-rays and came to a conclusion very quickly about her condition. Price is fair, it is pretty on par with what you would pay for your regular/normal vet. They're very friendly and care so much about your animals. When they got extremely busy new people that came in they suggested they go to the other emergency clinic down the street, sounds odd but I commend them for that because they cared so much about the animals they didn't want them waiting when they knew they couldn't get to them very fast. It's not normal to send people to your competition but they do that because they care more about animals than they seem to about money. It is also very clean, well kept, and very modern.

Where do i even begin ? Around 230am In the morning my 3 years old teacup chihuahua was what we believed to be having a seizure or stroking out. Only place around was the 404, unfortunately I wish I had read the prior reviews before taking my dog there, but in a state of emergency your seeking medical attention for your animal. When I arrived to "404 animal hospital clinic" once given a brief description of what my dog was experiencing as my teacup chihuahua tongue is literally sticking to the side of her mouth, they grab my dog and immediately take her to the back, out of eye view. Came back 15 min later asked us to fill out paper work, still no information to what is going on with my dog. After 25 min the VET FINALLY decided to come out, what I was hoping was to get information about what was going on with my dog. Instead 30 more minutes was wasted with the Vet constantly repeating herself not answering in a professional educated way. The only thing she knew was how to convince people to swipe their cards. I was only in there for maybe 35minute , I was already at 160$ without any constant or information to what I was being billed for. Than the Vet explained that I would walk out of here spending at least 500-800$. With the state my dog was in the VET needed extensive blood work, the VET did basic blood work, so that they could build on the price, than she was talking about CT SCANS, MRIS something clearly my dog did not need at moment. They insulted me and my partner on countless times, that our dog looked un healthy, and judging the resources we currently had. Not many working independent students with no family, usually doesn't have $800 laying around at 3:00am. All I asked was to give me a couple hours to come up with such a large amount of money , and if I need to spend 800$ that I would absolutely pay it if it saved my dogs life. I offered to leave my vehicle, keys, owner ship just so they would continue with medical treatment. The Vet REFUSED to work on My dog without any further payment, which I had already paid 120$ but would refuse to go forward if i did not swipe my card for another additional $200 for BLOOD WORK! Which they did not have my constant to draw blood in the first place. And $200 extra to draw more? We finally got a hold of my partners father and he stated that it was a complete rip off and to bring the dog down to guelph at the emergency clinic there. We had asked the vet to leave the catheter in the dog so we can transfer her to a more PROFESSIONAL vet. Than the Vet started to argue stating we were inhumane by transferring our dog to a more professional vet, than the vet stated that she wouldn't be able by law to release my dog to me in the state she was, BUT YET IT WAS OKAY FOR MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS TO DECLINE MEDICAL TREATMENT AND JUDGE ANTHER HUMANE FOR NOT HAVING ACCESS OR FAMILY AT 330am? We were discriminated by all staff, treated unfairly, calling us "inhumane" by not paying this ridiculous vet bill. I WOULD ADIVSE NO ONE TO GO THERE, They are inhumane people, they do not care about animals, and unless you have money or family don't bother going in. After stepping into this vet I have actually lost hope in humanity. How dare health care professionals refuse medical treatment in a state of emergency, we are CANADA not America, absolutely no compassion that this place had. The sad part is that vet and staff would have watched my dog die if I didn't swipe my card. I took a risk and made a sacrifice and took my dog to another vet right after, it was ACTUALLY 120$ that included ( a re check, physical and extensive blood work) to figure out what was wrong with my dog. Not 500-800 of scans, MRI, or 200$ worth of blood work. The second Vet I went to it was a relief day and night. We were never judge once or taking advantage of In a state of emergency. Terrible people. I would drive the extra whatever time it is, even in a state of emergency. I refuse.

I cannot begin to describe how amazing this clinic is after the nightmare I had to deal with at another emergency vet clinic. The doctors at this clinic are caring and thorough with their examinations. I felt they genuinely cared about the well being of my cat when he was there. I was given options to how to proceed with treatments, the pros and cons of each option and I never felt pressured to do anything I wasn't uncomfortable with. At no point did I feel like they were ordering tests that were unnecessary as a cash grab. My experience with this clinic was absolutely wonderful.

I was lucky to talk to a kind receptionist. Don't know much about the rest because I ended up in the ER myself instead of my dog. But I thank that kind person for talking nice to me after a horrible night of jumping from one hospital to another. It is a better place than the ripoff Toronto veterinary ER. Worth a travel.

I wrote a review previously for 5 stars, but after a recent visit, I think another review is needed as it was vastly different than the last time we were there. Not sure what has happened to the place, but it's changed. Too many issues to post including just a real lack of communication overall and slow to get communication (like days) when I have an animal that is deteriorating. My biggest issue was calling to get x-rays sent to my vet ASAP (as they had not sent them at all). After a long wait (5 hours after my request...days after they should have been sent) the receptionist "Jill" basically told me she wasn't going to bother any of the vets again with my request since she sent them a note before. When I asked her then what should I do, since we're waiting on this information and I have a very sick dog, she replied rudely "I have no idea, I'm not a medical professional". These types of people should not be dealing with sensitive situations.

My 4 year old devon rex, Bijou, had lesions on her belly and armpits, loss of fur, and yeast infections on her paws. My vet recommended that I take her to a dermatologist to determine the cause of her problems. Dr. Beck and the staff were wonderful! Dr. Beck was very methodical as she explained everything she could about her problem, took pictures, and asked if I wanted to take an aggressive approach to determine what was causing the problem. She gave me an estimate of the costs, which was high but considering the blood work, medications, shampoo, food, antibiotics, ointments and how to go about treating her, I found it reasonable for what was done. Within a week, Bijou started to improve and after my own vet found that she also had bad teeth that needed to be removed, a drastic improvement happened. I followed Dr. Beck's instructions on her treatments and after the teeth were removed she improved rapidly. When I phoned to cancel the follow up appointment 2 months later, since she seemed fully recovered, Dr. Beck and the staff were happy that everything had cleared up and were glad to cancel the appointment but did advise me that if anything started to reappear, not to hesitate to call. I have continued the special food diet but am now mixing in her previous food. I now have back my healthy and very active cat . Her coat has all grown in, she doesn't seem to miss the teeth that were removed and I feel I owe it all to Dr. Beck and my vet at Pinegrove Veterinary Hospital for giving me back my special girl! I only wish I had gone right away to specialists instead of trying to self treat her. My sincerest thanks to Dr. Beck and the staff at 404 who were kind, concerned and compassionate. They truly love animals and do all in their power to help make them well. To those complaining about the cost, I just have one thing to say, my pet's health is worth the money for the professionals who treated her. After all if you take on the responsibility of taking a pet into your care, then you do it in sickness and in health or you shouldn't have a pet! Thanks for everything Dr. Beck. Sincerely, C. Baranowski

Had my cat Vader, in hospital 2x in one week, for extreme constipation. They were nothing short of fantastic, took excellent care of him. Called me every morning with update and when I brought him home, followed up again with a call asking how he was doing. This is by far the best and highly recommended clinic I have ever dealt with. All the staff there. are excellent. best vet's and tech's I have had the pleasure of dealing with. Special thanks to Dr. Lawson and Dr. Crain, Vader says Meow xo

The staff at 404 Vet Emergency made one of the hardest days/decisions of my life as bearable as I could have imagined it to be. From the moment I called them to the last minute when I was sitting there saying goodbye to my baby girl they did not rush me or pressure me in anyway. They offered us a private quiet room which allowed us to have all the privacy we needed. Thank you for being compassionate, gentle and understanding. Thank you for helping me help my little girl.

My tiny chiuhuahua was stung by a wasp and started showing signs of an allergic reaction; large bites, skin was pink and her eyes/face were swollen. She also was have difficulty breathing. We described these symptoms to the clinic and were concerned it was only getting worse, we were desperate for medical attention! The clinic had no empathy towards our situation and brushed us off during our entire conversation AND refused to take our chiuhuahua on as a patient. If you won't take emergency situations, why be open as 24hr emergency clinic ? Why make it difficult and push patrons away claiming it to be a 5-8 hour wait ? I realize policies are in place however, this establishment does not care about animals or humans for that matter. The lack of customer service was such a massive turnoff especially in a stressful situation such as this ...makes it even worse ! Who needs the extra stress from talking to an uneducated person with no personable skills. I would not recommend this place AT ALL - bad vibes. I'm greatful they declined my pet, I can only imagine how they would have treated her after the way they spoke with me !

I had a very bad experience in 404 while I took my dog there two days ago. My dog was suffering the kidney disease and was very ill. our family vet suggested us to visit 404 due to the reason that they had more equipment and resources which would help my dog more. We have been in 404 many times in the past few years. My dog's kidney decease was diagnosed there and we went to see the specialist several times for all kinds of tests. As of the recent visit we have expended around $4000 -5000 in 404 Hospital. I called around 5am to the hospital asking for the same specialist we met before and was told she was fully booked but I could go to emergency and the doctor could come to see my dog a little bit to give advices. While I drove my dog there and there was another young doctor saw us. She was very rude while she came to me, questioning me “WHAT ARE YOU DOING” while I was filling the water in a bowl from the faucet for my dog to drink coz he was very thirsty. After a very quick check, she told me the specialist refused to see my dog because she called me before(don’t know when) but we did not come. I told her at that time my dog's situation was very stable, so we went to our family vet for blood urine tests and medications since the vet was cheaper than the hospital. This young doctor obviously talked to me without going through my dog's file nor checking with our family vet. She gave me the options but to me it sounded like no option but just “GET OUT”. But what annoyed me most was her manner and unprofessional behavior of her and that specialist. My dog is dying but they did not even care, punishing my poor dying dog because we did not come to give their business (what I understand). I was very very upset so I told the front desk I did not like the doctors’ attitude and manner so I would leave now. And then this young doctor came back to me again and gave my poor dog a needle for vomit. Again she gave me the same options and hinted to me to put him to sleep but not in rush (means my dog won’t die that quick). I paid almost $600 for this visit including one internal blood test, one needle, 3-days-pills for vomit and these doctors’ attitudes. My dog died same day evening. While I am thinking back, if I was not fighting with them, they would not give the needle to my dog for vomiting; If I was not told that the specialist could see me as emergency, I won’t go there and waste my time that day; If they cared about my dog, they could check him more in details and gave him a treatment instead of telling me to come back another day; if they were professional with heart, the specialist who knew my dog could at least come out to take a look or said hi, but she did not show up at all. Today is the 2nd day after leaving the hospital, no follow up call from them.

I visited this veterinary emergency clinic twice in the last year. The staff were incredible. Professional, compassionate, knowledgable. I hope to never need to visit them again but it is comforting to know that they're there if my pet needs them.

After initially being at another emergency vet for some porcupine quill removal, I called here to switch my dog over as fast as possible to get her out of there (bad vibes, extortion costs etc) 404 was utterly fantastic. Amazing care, honest billing, vet who did the procedure (it was 2am at that point so the name escapes me) was knowledgeable, personable and thorough, the vet techs were phenomenal, the covid safety system was efficient and did not feel impersonal. And the cost was realistic and a pleasant surprise. Easily one of the best emergency clinics I've ever worked with. Would give them 10 stars if I could.

My advice to people is to only go here if you have concerns that are not more than you can afford to lose or more than the price of the pet itself. If it requires an overnight stay, simply keep your money in your pockets. You need to be pragmatic about your decisions with pets. If they are in ‘fatal’ condition and they offer no guarantee, why would you spend $3000-$10000 to just ‘hope’ they might figure out what’s wrong? The animal will most likely pass anyways. Let them do it in peace at your own home and save your bank account. There’s plenty of new pets out there in need of homes. My experience was good when I came in but they left a bad taste in my mouth as I left. Their true intentions come out when you don’t cooperate with their plan for your pet. So don’t be surprised if they give you a hard time or so a lack of enthusiasm when you decline their prosposal. Stand up for what you think is right for your pet and keep emotions out of your decision making.

Can't say enough about how great this hospital is. I've read some reviews about the prices being high but getting proper care for your animal is expensive. In my opinion the prices at this hospital are in line with what all high quality vet care costs. Case in point my Bulldogge Bowser tore his acl and required surgery. There's various forms of surgery but TPLO seemed to be the best bet. He's in his 12th week of recovery and doing well. Total costs around $5K including 6 rehab sessions. That does not seem unreasonable to me at all. All the staff were extremely professional and friendly and I would highly recommend this vet to anyone. Thank you for the friendly care and professional service!

I found the staff to be extremely professional and compassionate . They saved my cat Simon. I was kept informed of his condition day and night. His interest and my concerns were always at the forefront of their care. I cannot thank them enough. Lori Preston

Based on the reviews of this emergency vet and the other one north of here I'm curious if some reviewers have the two confused. Regardless, my dog walker recommended this one to me and I called after my dog puked a couple times during the day, unlike her usual self. The lady on the phone was patient, very attentive, listened to my concerns/questions and asked her diagnostic questions and gave me some monitoring directions. Great customer service and put my at ease for calling back if needed as I was uncertain after reading the reviews.

Jason Dorrington

Worst set up ever , brought my dog for urgent care and i was told triage is 6-8 hours. I understand less urgent situations can wait but if i feel the need to drive almost an hour for my furry friend to get care i would at the least expect a professional to put eyes on my dog quickly and ensure me waiting is an option ! If humans where treated this way the hospital would be CLOSED !

Nader Halabi

Our dog was in need of immediate medical attention due to a puncture wound in the neck that was bleeding pretty bad. We waiting for almost an hour before leaving to another emergency hospital. I asked for a compress or anything I could use to slow the bleeding down and no one brought us anything out. Terrible service if you have a real emergency on your hands

DO NOT GO HERE. MONEY GRABBING AND NO PROPER CARE FOR YOUR PET. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING DOCTORS AND RECEPTIONISTS

I recently just had my 8 year old German Shepherd dog transferred to this clinic from Cambridge. My dog had fallen extremely ill and he needed a more specialized hospital and care. I was BEYOND impressed with this clinic, the doctors and staff. They got to the root of my dogs illness quickly and provided excellent care. He had 24/7 ICU care and even provided me a photo of my boy resting comfortably since I could not be with him due to Covid protocol and I was so worried and missing him dearly. They saved my dog's life. I am truly thankful for the kind and wonderful staff and the amazing doctors in this clinic. I highly recommend this clinic if your pet needs specialized care.

terribly bad service! I feel sorry for our animals! I had to urgently check the dog. our doctor could not accept us. decided to go to this hospital. they called us that no people and you can come. I ride 30 minutes to them. we arrived, we were recorded and sent to wait in the room. after 10 minutes the assistant doctor came and measured the dog and left, said they would come to us soon. an hour passed, no one came. I went out to find out where the doctor is. and how many more do we have to wait? I was rudely answered wait. I waited another hour and went out again; find out when the doctor will be. they started talking rudely with me and told me that we could stay here until morning, if necessary! I didn’t like this conversation. the woman at the reception understood that they simply beat us up, began to speak differently, but didn’t even apologize. I understand that there may be different situations, but they can tell us about the situation. I lost 3 hours of time with trips, I started looking for another clinic, and go there.

Worst experience. Doctor was unsure of what was wrong with my puppy. Diagnosed us to wait 36_48 hours to see the progress with NO MEDICAL attention. Was quick to charge 150$ . After 36 hours my puppy still did not feel any better and so I called them back. That's when they said in order to see the doctor again there is a 78$ charge since its passed our ^24 hour recheckup^ policy. So I guess that's why the doctor told us to wait an extra 12 hours to ensure no free reexaminations. when I complained a couple of days later, the manager was VERY rude and unpleasant in their response to help my puppy out who was still sick at this point. On top of that, they never allowed me to be present for the examination with my puppy and doctor insisted for us to wait outside (heard our dog scream very loud inside) and finally they had lost the towel I brought my puppy in and gave me a CAT towel instead to wrap my sick helpless puppy. The worst experience I have ever had and highly suggest other medical clinic options. All they care about is money and have a very unprofessional and rude manager employed.

If you go there prepare yourself to get a loan. It was sunday and I had no choice so I took my dog there for bite injury. They asked me to do several tests and showed me a bill to pay in order to discharge my dog. Just take a deep breath before checking the bill.

Diana Aversa

We paid 404 emerg over $12,000 for care and surgery. They refused to deal with a wound in which the stitches weren't done right and then got infected. Eventually Scarborough emergency fixed the sloppy work of 404. emergency.

I trust the 404 Vet hospital and their staff. Our dogs have gone through everything from luxating patella's to hemorrhagic gastroenteritis and everything in-between. Dr. Isakoff has been absolutely wonderful. He explains everything, he is a great surgeon, and he honestly cares about the wellbeing of our two Yorkies. We have used the rehabilitation services several times, and I appreciate the great staff there. When the owners of 404 Vet moved to the current location, we followed them.

Sneha Mand

My family and I had the unfortunate experience of having to put our dog to sleep. Having to experience such a sad ordeal, the clinic was so respectful of us and provided us such a dignified service. We were never rushed, they booked our the examination room for us for as long as we needed. They came to check on us often, and explained everything so clearly. The room was so clean, and they made sure she got the best send off possible. They never took advantage of our situation

If something ever goes wrong this is the place to go! They have better facilities than SUNNYBROOK. Very knowledgeable Staff. THANKS

My cat had to be operated on during the Holiday weekend because she had a bowel obstruction and she was worsening by the hour. I am very glad that we brought her to this clinic. The staff and the doctors were the most professional, caring and respectful of our wishes. I was most pleasantly surprised by the professionalism of the diagnosing doctor, Dr. Michael Astin and the surgeon, Dr. Chris Jordan. They have consulted and involved us in the decision making process and informed us regularly about my cat's state throughout the entire process. They have called us before and after the surgery, every step of the way. The quote we were given was quite accurate, the price ending up being the lower end of the quote (obviously this is dependent on additional findings during the surgery and the animal's condition to handle the stress of of it, so we were lucky). Sure, we had to occasionally wait a bit longer, but not sure what some complaining reviewers expect in an emergency clinic, where the most serious cases take priority...Surgeries cost nowadays unfortunately, but we didn't get the impression they wanted to take advantage of the situation, as sometimes is the case in other places. Overall, we thought this is a very professional clinic, knowledgable staff caring of their patients. Many thanks to the doctors and staff for saving my Frida! She is back home feeling a great deal better!

Samantha Snow

The junior vet was very helpful and nice but Dr. Phil didn't care about our cat at all!! He was all about the money and not about my pet!! We took our cat in to check his breathing because he's been having some issues. So long story short, our cat has some fluid around his lungs and Dr. Phil wanted to do surgery to remove it (apparently would last a few hours/a week and would be $3,000). When we refused that because the fluid does come back, he mentioned that we should do the worse lung at a lower cost. When we refused again, he said we should put him down cause he was in pain. Our cat wasn't because he was moving like normal and eating fine. Again, when we said NO, he said "I can't let you have him". He wouldn't even let us take our own cat home!! We told him, we wanted to pay our bill and take our cat home. He finally agreed. After that, our cat was completely fine (minus the breathing). He was acting like himself. If we listened to him, our cat wouldn't be here right now. I recommend to NOT go to this vet (or at least don't have Dr. Phil).

Barbara Allan

As sad as the occasion was, putting down my beloved pet was a peaceful experience. The facilities were clean and comfortable, the staff was very sympathetic. It meant so much to be to be allowed to be with my cat Jasmine at the end and I knew that she wasn't alone. Kudos to this clinic for making this as easy as it could be.

My girl recently spent two nights here; the first as an emergency patient and the second as an admitted overnight care patient. Both experiences were very professional, compassionate and practical. The quality of care was excellent and the prices reasonable. Emergency and intensive veterinarian care can be pricey but my invoices were fair in my opinion. I was able to consent to procedures and did not feel swayed into any additional interventions. In fact, I received a significant refund on my deposit for overnight care. I was also very impressed with the patience and dedication in answering all of my questions and liaising with my primary care vet to ensure a smooth transition in treatment. I would not hesitate to return here in the future.

I just got off the phone with Brenna and she was incredibly kind and helpful! I’m in Toronto and called worried about my rat and she took notes and reassured me and got the doctor’s opinion and even offered me a consultation. I can’t recall the doctor’s name but it was the exotic vet. Thank you to you both for being so sincerely kind tonight.

My Dog had 2 seizures yesterday (Sunday) when I called I was so panicked and I wish I got names but every person I talked to we so good, taking time to make sure I was okay, explaining what I should do and then when my dog was admitted just walking me through what would happen. I was so worried about him being away from us for the night I called to check if he was doing okay, and they let me know how he was. In the morning when I got an update call I felt so much better because every person I talked to seemed like they really cared. Honestly I hope I do not have anything like this happen again but if I do I will be back. Thank you so much to all the staff

jenny kipczak

Thank you so much to the awesome staff at 404 Vet Hospital! Unfortunately I had to bring our chihuahua in a few days ago after he drank some dirty/stagnant water while outside. He soon began vomiting continuously for several hours and was quickly becoming dehydrated. The staff and doctors were so kind and extremely thorough. They calmly explained everything to me and did not pressure me to do anything that wasn't necessary. After giving him some medications he finally stopped vomiting but then had an allergic reaction to one of the meds (he's super sensitive to ANY kind of medication) so I had to bring him back (they didn't charge me for the 2nd visit since it was within 48hrs) once again the staff was so kind and gave our dog so much love. Would definitely recommend this hospital! Especially in an emergency situation!!

Michael Petrolovic

Horrible staff. Disgusting behaviour. Terrible protocols during covid.

Very devious business practice! Do not recommend! The vet charged $113 for a phone call of which gave us absolutely no information. During the call, they advised that there is nothing that they can do over the phone and that we would need to bring in our pet (of which would not be covered in the already paid fee), rendering our $113 phone call useless! They advised that the visit will be expensive. Ridiculous.

Lawrence Artin

Horrendous service! Our dog got blood work done at 2am in the morning and we were told to go home as the results were pending. Twelve hours later at 2pm we still didn't hear back so we called the vet to follow up and the receptionist said she can't see the results in his folder but will have the vet call us. An hour later we called again to follow up as we were hugely concerned and the same person answered with an attitude saying she has now found the results in his file but can't share them and we will need to wait for the vet to do so. FIVE hours later we still hadn't received a call so i call again and the same person picks up with a tremendous attitude so I ask her to email us the results until the vet calls and she hangs up on my face once I say thank you. Terrible customer service!!!

Emma Butcher

We had to put down our beloved family dog without much warning and the clinic managed it wonderfully. They have comfortable private rooms with separate exits so you don’t have to walk back through the waiting room after your pet has passed. The rooms have mats on the floor so we were able to sit with our dog as he passed. They told us what to expect and gave us plenty of time to say goodbye. The vet and techs were excellent, very kind and professional. It was only about $40 more than our regular vet would charge even though it was during emergency hours. If you have to say goodbye to your pet I’d recommend here even if it’s not an emergency because of how well they handled it and how comfortable the experience was. They made a difficult day as easy as it could be.

Lyndsey McGill

Everyone at this clinic went above and beyond to help my dog. They were so amazing and I can't thank them enough!!

AMAZING staff!!! I can't speak highly enough. You care so much about the animals coming through your doors. You provide top notch care with the latest that science has to offer in diagnostics and you do it all in the warmest most loving environment!!!

1st time here. Our 6 lbs puppy was stepped on with 140 lbs bodyweight. She was screaming so badly. Pup had a wound on the head that didn't look so bad. But was convulsing & would yelp when we touched her in spots, so we thought she was hurt. We were turned away by 6 other places closer to our home but 404 took us in. The staff were kind & kept us updated. The vet took ultrasounds & told us she thought our pup was ok. Thank goodness. But if it had been worse we're grateful 404 was there. Honest place & cost seems fair. Thank you.

Ingrid Lightfoot

The doctor and staff were great in my Angel Dean's last hours ???? So professional, kind and understanding ❤ Much more so than my own vet where my last Dog and Dean were taken care of. Dr. Larson was wonderful and I also appreciate the heartfelt card that was sent❤ Thank you Ingrid Lightfoot

Still waiting for a call from the technician from 9:30 last night. Luckily Murphy made it!!

Worst experience with a vet ever!!! We took our cat there Wednesday night because he had a really bad hairball that was impairing his breathing. Instead of treating him for it. He wanted to run diagnostics for $2800.00. I told him we're on disability and can't afford it and asked him for a shot to make him throw up but he didn't want to without running diagnostics. I was finally able to get him to prescribe a medication for him to pass the hairball. He was very rude and it seemed that he cared more about the money than to treat my cat. 0 stars and highly NOT recommended. I think it's really fishy that everytime someone has a complaint you never seem to find them in your records. I have a receipt for the visit and medication from your MALE vet Dr Armia Beshay. I also purchased a bag of cat food. So yes I completely sure that I was there. Maybe you should get a better system and record your clients records. And stop telling everyone to call and ask for Scott. It's just another way to NOT deal with the problem which Is that you guys are really horrible when it comes to treating pets and their owners. Shame on you

Kendra Floyd

We brought our 7 year old dog in as he was more ill than we realised and our vet refured us on to them. We had him sitting in our car with the back hatch open and him sadated and we were in a very time sensative situation. The only reason for 4 stars onstead of 5 the secrtary seamed to get very overwhelmed and when we explained we needed to bring him in immediately she had us wait 15 - 20 mins filling out paer work. Fortunately one of the vets came out and farther explained to the secretary we needed to bring him in immediately and she apologized for hplding us up. But the bets did a omce over and got a more thurough understanding of what was going on with him and she gave us a very in depth explaination of everything and treatment options. Unfortunately she cpuld not guarentee je would make it through the procedure or this problem would not came back. He also had alot more going on than we originally thought so we had to say goodbye. As far as their euthanasia procedure I could not have asked for a better experiance. They are very patient with you and understand that this is your family member. They bring the payment options right to you in the room and allow to leave through a door within the room so you never have to walk out where people are waiting while you are upset. They explain the procedure throughly prior to administering the euthanasia and allow to spend as much time as u want with your dog prior to and after the procedure. Wonderful experiance overal as for the price with it being a saturday it was reasonable as were there technically after hours.

Thank you to all who helped with my cat Oreo last week. Special thanks to Julia that came to the rescue at the right time and place. Also thank you to Dr Martin and other doctors that helped out. I can not remember everyone but you know who you are. With love from Oreo She's doing great.

I had to take my 11 week old puppy here as my cat scratched her eye. The staff here are fantastic. My puppy is still here and the vets and staff are taking very good care of her. The Dr.s call me regularly to keep me updated on her condition. I highly recommend this hospital!

I would have to say my over all experience at the 404 was amazing i had my boston terrier there for rehab and surgery for his cruciate ligament all the staff were super friendly and very knowledgeable. Ive been using the 404 for couple years now and are my go to vet. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them as they have always been professional and compassionate :)

Beware of the bill when you have an emergency situation at this clinic. Austin our male Siberian Husky was a patient of Dr. Beckett (dermatologist) for ongoing skin issues he had. She was always very nice to deal with. My issue has nothing to do with the care they provide, but rather their billing policy. During a walk in the park, Austin collapsed from a massive brain seizure that didn't stop until we were in the parking lot of the 404 Emergency Clinic. He stopped breathing, but the staff put him on a gurney and asked us if we wanted them to resuscitate him...to which we said yes. Less than 5 minutes later they told us there was nothing they could do. While I was putting him back in the car to take him to Thistledown Pet Crematorium in Uxbridge, my wife was given a credit card machine to pay $345 + HST = $389.85 for their services. Again less than 5 minutes of service. When I questioned the bill in an email, I was told there was a flat $250 fee for CPR and $95 for the vet to determine that he was dead. We were floored by this extra charge and truly insulted that they would not reverse it. You would think the flat $250 fee for CPR would include telling us if he was dead or alive. Brutal!

Luis Collado

Last week I brought my Shitzu at 5 AM to the clinic to be looked at for vomiting , and I was trying to find out what the problem was. The vet ran a series of tests and consulted what it could be and after offering a couple of treatment options ($270.00 blood work and supportive care medication price unknown but I am sure it would be a lot) we decide not to proceed and instead chose to take our dog to his regular vet. When we said this to the vet her response was " Why did you bring him here int he first place"? I think this was inappropriate comment and made me think that it was more about money than the well being of my dog. Thank God we left the clinic . The next day we found out that my dog was fine and full of energy. We have gone to this clinic before and have had excellent service from another vet.

Carol Sheardown

Every time we've needed the services of 404 Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital, we have been completely happy with the level of care, knowledgeable staff, and caring treatment of both us and our pets! Highly recommended!

Most redeculece and money grabing place . last week i took my dog there after an ubject was stuck in his throuth. poor dog was in ageny and it was an erent emergency. all they were talkig about was to take %85 of cost beforeadmition otherwisetey wont be able to admit the dog and although they are 27 hours but doctor would not take the dog after 5:45 and they wouldnt care about taking care of the dog and free him from pain. poor dog had to take that pain untill i took him to brichmond animal hospital rightaway they took the dog in and did what needed to be done but unfurtunately damage was to much for the dog to handle and day after we had no choice but to put our love one to sleep???????????????????? thats all because they wanted money before taking the dog in and wouldnt stay a bit longer while they saying that they take emergency untill 6:30 but at 5:45 we were regected???? our dog lost his life after going true lots of pain and ageny????????????????????????????????????. all love for animal and caring for our 4 leged friend are just BS at this place. we find out the price they gave us was about $1000 more than brichmond also. i wish i wasnt waiesting my time trusting this place and was taking my loving dog to brichmond at first place.everytime i remember how my dog died i remember 404 animal hospital part in his death. ????????????????????????????????????

I had the unfortunate event of having to have my beloved pet put to sleep and since it was a holiday weekend, I had to go to this facility. The staff are absolutely incredible!! Very caring and took me right away. The environment is quiet and very clean. Despite the sad circumstances, the professional and empathetic demeanor of the entire staff made the experience more comfortable and tolerable. 5 stars!!!!

Excellent care, quick, cost friendly and super nice staff ! Thank you again SO much taking care of our little girl. Truly recommend to anyone

Tania Kruzhinski

they misdiagnosed my dog and wanted me to put her down, we went to get another opinion and it turned out to be a simple infection!!after antibiotics she was back to normal in 2 weeks!

Lindsey Charpentier

Vet and staff were all wonderful. Price was more than reasonable.

Susan Jenkins

Very caring people. Great follow-up with our regular vet. And when we had to put one of our dogs to sleep, the people at the facility were very kind and considerate. Back again 7 months later when our remaining dog developed cancer and needed surgery. Extraordinary care! I understand why my regular vet (Oak Ridges Animal Hospital) recommends them so highly. From the reception desk to the support staff to top physicians and surgeons, it doesn't get any better than this! Wonderful people! Update: Back again with our dog who was operated on last spring. His cancer returned. Once again the team did an extraordinary job! Everyone at the facility is wonderful!

Alexandria Jolliffe

Supportive and caring staff. Didnt take advantage of my wallet in a time of crisis. I appreciate how they dealt with my situation. hopefully won't have to return to the there emergency services but I will always be speaking highly of them.

Kerri-Ann Sagert

THE MOST OUTSTANDING, understanding, compassionate staff who treat your fur baby like their own. I can’t thank you enough for your help and love!!! #superheros. ❤️❤️

Abby-Lou Miller

No diagnosis - $4,500. Overnight stay and tests. I would never trust them w/ any animal

Dianne Brown

All they care about is money!! I brought my dog there for a second opinion on his complicated case... they would not give me one. They said that they cannot override the referring vet. They wanted to do all kinds of testing and wouldn't look at what was already done. Why didn't someone tell me that before I bothered wasting all the money and time to go there for a second opinion?! Then in addition to that they call your referring vet to check up on you like you are a bad pet owner. Do not bring your pet here.

They saved Nala’s life and made time for every worried phone call from me when she was hospitalized there after being poisoned. They were so kind and helpful and I felt so gracious for the kindness they showed me and the care they gave my puppy. I’ll never forget it and I will always be indebted to them for saving Nala’s life.

In a nutshell if you can go to your regular vet. While the services are pricy I am sure that any pet parents thinks of the health of their four legged family member first. So my issue is not price. I have visited this clinic a number of times and I find the service very inconsistent. I found the receptionist rude and the technican impolite. It seems they don't understand basic etiquette and have no apparition for where their pay cheque comes from. This was my last visit. I Google and there are a number of alternative clients in the area. Hopefully I won't need them but if I do my next visit will not be here.

Horrible horrible veterinary hospital. These people that run the show just care about money. And I feel bad for other people with pet's that do not have funds. I brought my dog in because she wasn't doing so well. And right off the bat they told me to put down my dog. I said no way she needed surgery and the way the doctor was talking it was 50/50 my dog survived with flying colors and she is doing well. Her name is Coco you guys can run it in your system. Not only are these people money hungry I paid $3500 out right. I don't know what person does that most people don't even make that much a month. My dog was in there for about 3 days and the total sum was roughly around 10k. And everyday they were hounding for more and more money I spoke with them I can't transfer large sums of money on the weekends but that didn't seem to click upstairs. Anyways long story short these people are super negative and very snobby its quite amusing how stuck up they are. Its a pet hospital and they have no regard for pets our the owners. If anyone is reading this do avoid this hospital. And yes I am in your system, look up my dogs name. If I could rate this place a 0 star I would.

Being a new pet owner, I was completely lost when my little lab (Toby) started feeling unwell. When we called the 404 vet emergency, they were super understanding and helpful. The process of getting Toby in was painless. I felt that the vet that was there was very helpful and answered all our questions. She also did an amazing job and examining and providing us with a detailed report. The price is on par with what you would pay on your local vet. We are in the process of changing our existing vet, as it was because of their mess up Toby was in the ER over the weekend. Thank you 404 for all your help.

Santina Cassano

From my initial phone call, staff were very prompt with helping me with my cat. When I visited the clinic, staff were very kind, helpful and knowledgeable. Thank you 404 for being very supportive with my decision for my beloved Rocky.

Shelby Burns

They were absolutely amazing today when I had to euthanize my Belle. They were very sympathetic and I was able to be with her as she passed. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You helped in a difficult time.

jake king

Avoid this place! Scammers they are unprofessional and dont know what there doing.

Amanda Mendes

The receptionist has no empathy, people like this shouldn't deal with people no customer service what so ever.. Attitude and laughed at an aftercare question regarding my dog..

Sabrina M

When my dog Turner was having issues they took her in immediately and gave her vip care. I trust the team, they are knowledgeable and kind and made sure my dog came out of their doors alive and healthier than when she was carried in. Incredibly impressed and grateful.

Sheryl Taylor

Dr. Sarah Boston, Dr. Matthew Boylan and all staff Thank you for your loving care of our Hugo and exceptional knowledge and skill during his stay with you that helped to bring him home to us.

Melissa Capogna

Our family dog Ruckus passed away suddenly at home two weeks ago. We contacted VCA for information and assistance on how to proceed with after care for our beloved pet. The moment we arrived at hospital, the team was kind, empathetic and caring towards our dog and us family members. We were able to spend a few more moments with him in a quiet and comfortable space. The team supported us with the after care process and explained our options with care and patience. Today we picked up our boy’s remains from VCA and our family was reunited. Although our dog did not receive care while alive and well at this care clinic, we have no doubt that he would have received the best of care there. To the team at VCA, thank you for taking care of our dog and us during this difficult time.

Hello there, I just wanted to share how pleased I was today with the service. The Veterinarian and staff were very compassionate with what we went in for. We brought in a very sick little bunny named Star. Highly recommend the 404 Veterinary Emergency Hospital. We really don't want any more emergencies but if so, wouldn't go anyway else. Many thanks xox

Patricia Gazey

12 Year old lab had tie back surgery with Dr Isakow. Follow up with Dr.Kessel and another surgeon. Doctors and other staff were fantastic through a tough period. Well worth the fees incurred. You get what you pay for here. Not sorry we made the decision. Dog is now doing well Thank you.

Chelsey G

The only reason I can't give you five stars is due to your rude secretary. She clearly doesn't understand English well enough, which results in her being frustrated and curt with your customers. We sat there for hours, and we noticed that this was consistently the case, not just with us. What a terrible first impression for your clinic. With regards to other customers making payment complaints before being served etc., we also watched this secretary give one of the customers a hard time... so while the other staff are great (and you may have payment policies stating that animals won't be refused service) the front desk, of all people, should be well aware of these policies. While this customer was doing everything she could to figure out payment, the secretary was still dragging her heels, obviously making the customer more upset not knowing whether or not her dog would be okay. Finally, another staff member intervened and diffused the situation. The customer's plan for payment was actually fine, so if the secretary had just said this from the get-go, this whole situation could have been avoided. As far as treatment is concerned, we have brought our dog here twice, and both times the service was phenomenal. Staff gave us regular updates, thoroughly discussed differential diagnoses, showed us x-rays and blood work, came up with several different treatment plans and discussed the pros and cons of each... they were awesome. You can just tell that the rest of the staff at this clinic genuinely care about your pet. Prices are emergency prices--that is to be expected. Yes, they're expensive, but in an emergency situation, I think this is understandable. And the last time we were here, our vet even waived the ultrasound fee because she wanted to rule out anaphylaxis; this was a definitive tool in which to do so (again, they wanted to do what was best for our pet, so without charge, they provided this service). This is now our 'go to' clinic, despite the fact that we live in Toronto. We most definitely will continue to make the drive. Highly recommend!

Nancy Ling

I recommend this Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital. I contact them and asked for a triage, and after some questions they triaged my dog almost right away by a veterinary tech. I had contacted them by phone 3 times before this in-person visit and each time the veterinary techs were knowledge, compassionate and patient. Thank you! This is after being put on hold for close to 3 hrs by a nearby referral hospital and being 'tiraged' by filling out a form and observing other 'more serious' cases go before us.

Olivia Montez

Very good emergency clinic that doesn't scam a lot of money from you like other emergency clinics which is all about money. Had 2 incidents which I had to take my client's cats to this place. Doctors are very professional.

V

I had brought my senior German shepherd, Bear, here for hydrotherapy to help with his DM and arthritis. I’m happy to have brought him here for his last few months, he was handled with so much care and love. All the treatments certainly helped in making his senior life more comfortable and manageable, and we were glad to have gotten a few more months with him. I appreciate all the staff who were very patient, kind and respectful with him and every interaction I have had. I was glad that we euthanized him here as well in the end. The staff prepared a room for all of us to say goodbye to him and we were able to spend all the time before we were ready to let him go. .

Lori Greene

What can I say I had to take my fur baby to the 404 last Sunday and was greeted with kind arms. She is much better now and on the road to recovery. I would not hesitate to promote their hospital at all. Good people Thank you

Brad Thompson

Had my dog in for tplo.surgery on left hind leg on May 29 2019.Staff at front desk were pleasant and helpful.Dr.Gill explained thouroly the procedure and recovery for Minetta.Six days later I am pleased to report her incision is dry and clean, eating and drinking regularly, and now gently putting some weight on this leg. This is an outstanding place to bring my BEST FRIEND for care????????

Kaylee Barton

Terrible, terrible place. The only thing the people in there care about is your money. Told me my dog was going to die if we didn't spend 7,000 dollars on surgery when they already charged us 3,000 dollars for something that didn't work. Took our dog to the barrie vet and they charged us 2,000 for the same surgery. Please please please do not take your pet here, do not let them trick you, they take advantage of the feelings you have for your pet and try to get as much money out of you as possible. They are terrible people. I wish I could give this place zero stars instead of one.

Lisa RAWSON

My son took his dog to the clinic on Sunday morning, his dog need what we thought was a few stitches for a small cut. They were told it would be surgery and a general anesthesia. Quote was for $1000-1300. I told them to get a second opinion, and hold off until Monday. They then too their dog to their vet and was told it looks fine. Antibiotics and keep it clean. $130.00. Later. Not happy with this clinic at all.

Daniel J

I have used this clinic as my ER clinic for the past several years. The receptionists, technicians, veterinarians, and specialists are all a joy to work with. They are very friendly, helpful, sympathetic, and most importantly competent. Both Dr. Walter's and Dr. Beck's team have been phenomenal to my girl. The only real complaint I can think of is that the wait time can be long because they have alot of patients. Aside from that, our community is very lucky to have these guys.

Amanda D

I just wanted to extend my biggest thank you to the amazing medical team at VCA for taking exceptional care of our dog Ruby in a high-stress, very time-sensitive situation. I would HIGHLY recommend care here. We were away from home, far from our own vet, on a weekend, in the evening. Everything was stacked against us. The wonderful team here instantly responded to our call and advised we bring her in (I called other 24hr emergency vets, and there is nothing more fear--inducing than hearing a voicemail on the other line in an emergency). From the moment we entered VCA until the time that we left, Ruby received top care. The vet-tech who was supporting us was professional, knowledgeable, and provided us with information about risks/next steps for us to make important choices. The receptionists and front-desk staff were extremely kind and compassionate. They spoke to us, and it helped calm my nerves. The vet tech came out 3 times to give us updates. Overall the outcome was good due to the excellent care and fast-responding team here at VCA. As an added bonus, the price of our visit was a fraction of cost of our own vet or what we would have paid for an emergency service closer to home, taking away yet another stress (there is nothing worse when your fur-baby is sick to also have to worry about a heavy fee). The waiting room was clean and well-staffed. We will be highly recommending our friends/family here. Thank you for taking the best care of our dog and us.

Wendy Au Yeung

as an emergency clinic i do recommend this one.

OMRA Toronto

This Clinic is the best one. They helped keep my dog alive for 2 years after he was diagnosed with a mass in his spleen. After surgery I have had another 2 years with him until another cancer showed up which is fatal. I would recommend this clinic to anyone in a heartbeat. Reception right through the Dr's, technicians are amazing and very caring. Thank you

Julia B

Couldn't have had a worse experience at all. Don't go here they are not here for you or your pet just themselves

Marie Stainton

I had to come in to put my childhood cat down. Dr. Deena Larsen was very calm and took her time with me while I was struggling to say goodbye for the very last time. Reception put us into a room right away when we arrived so that we could have our privacy. They gave us the time we needed to say our final goodbyes. When everything was over there was a door from the room that we got to leave from instead of walking through the front. The staff were very professional and thoughtful during the very emotional time I was having. I highly recommended this place! Thank you Dr. Deena Larsen for being there with me.

Amy Rajic

My pup has received the best care in their hands, doctors are extremely well informed and the staff is really kind and provides you with all the information you need. They are never tired or get a sense that you are bothering them if you call back again with another question. Wonderful staff, so grateful we had the best care and thank you so much!!

Azad Kaveh

Attitude... Poor customer service. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE .( horrible Receptionist )

Priscilla Kasimos

Recently brought my cat in after she wasn't eating, walking and in clear abdominal pain. Within an hour we were speaking with the doctor. Tests we done instantly. Without a doubt you can tell all the staff are companionate and love animals. Fortunately we learned there was no foreign body stuck in her. We were sent home with medicine but no antibiotics and also no answers. I was told to go to my regular vet if the problem persists- which it did. For the average person they prices are way to high and even though I would do anything for her, to spend almost a thousand dollars and given no answers is absurd. I went to my regular vet (Quaker Hill Newmarket) the next day and within a day they had her diagnosed and given proper medicine and she is back to her old self. Overall stick to your regular vet, this place isn't worth the money.

Rosa Loreto-Lee

We were referred to VCA 404 from our family vet in Etobicoke as our 9 yo rabbit required dental procedures that were outside the scope of our family vet's practice. When our rabbit unfortunately had complications from the anesthesia, Dr. Kabakchiev and Vet Tech Erin went above and beyond to try and bring our bun back to good health. Over the course of about 3 weeks, they were very thorough as they explained procedures and possible outcomes, and incredibly patient as they fielded our questions. We were well informed and never felt rushed to make decisions. When our rabbit suddenly took a turn for the worst, Dr. K and Erin went so far as staying after hours for us, knowing we would otherwise be stuck without a rabbit savvy vet over the weekend. We are forever indebted to the staff at VCA 404, especially Dr. Kabakchiev and Erin, for their unparalleled dedication and kindness during a very difficult time for us.

Leah MacDonald

Everyone, from the staff at the front desk to the team of veterinarians, was extremely patient, caring and competent. My first experience dealing with an animal emergency and I felt completely taken care of. Lynn Henderson and Laura Perry were especially considerate in balancing our financial concerns and care of our pet. They really went above and beyond to find an option that suited everyone. I appreciated their genuine and down to earth manner. No matter how busy things were that day, I never felt rushed. Thanks to all!

My pup decided to jump out the car window on the way to the park the other day. I immediately started to panic and worry about his injuries. I called 404 immediately and they did an over the phone assessment with me. They told me it would be a couple hours but that he'd be ok. When I finally got the call to take him in the staff were so friendly. The Dr called me to go over the initial assessment and what steps they recommended next. They took care of my baby and kept me calm. I cant thank the team enough for getting Benny and I through it

Jennifer Batz-Babin

My dog was having seizures and I'm not one to leave any reviews. But I must admit,in an emergency at 1:00 am they were there.... I ended up having to put my 8 yr old pup down but the were so nice and helpful ....and then because of it being the holidays they worked with me with a payment plan.... And to be honest I respect that.. I loved the service I received but not the reason I was there...

Emma Carter

This vet was the most helpful, we had to put our dog down, and we couldn't have imagined a better environment to do it. The staff was very caring understanding and helpful, and made sure our pet was comfortable and well taken care of, they were very compassionate.

Reza Tehrani

Thanks to all the wonderful staffs.

April B

They did EVERYTHING they could to make sure my cat Pepper was given the BEST care. They went above, and beyond. I had called several Vets, and Animal Hospitals before we landed here. They CARE. They WILL help your best friend. Thank you guys.

I wish I could give 0 stars

Saveria Burdi

I had the best experience at 404 veterinary emergency! The team was so patient and competent with me and my Boston Terrier and made us both feel we were at the right place. They kept me up to date with their services to see what was wrong with my dog and how they can make him recover. I appreciate how they handled the situation and the options they provided me with. I will definitely go to them or refer them to my family and friends to get the best quality service and care for their furry companions.

C Strome

I went to this clinic for a second opinion to assess the condition and possible treatment of my beloved 15 yo cat. She has a thyroid problem but quite recently has also developed a presumptive feline injection site sarcoma, which was very concerning. There are no words to express the quality of care my cat and I received. All of my questions were answered along with the very detailed hand holding to make a decision on possible treatments and future implications that surpassed my expectation. Simply said this clinic is the best of the best. Highly recommend.

jill michalski

I brought my dog Kaia here for severe GI virus. 7 months old she was severely ill and I think another day and it would have been not good. We landed on their doorstep scared, desperate and needing some professionals to take the "reigns" and help our puppy. Let me tell you, the welcome, care, triaging, compassion was phenomenal. Many people talk about prices-I wasn't going to do a price check in an emergency. It was expensive but top notch care and well worth it. I mean, are you really going to call everywhere and compare all pricing of emergency items? That wont guarantee care and compassion. Be careful what you ask for. You will not get better emergency care elsewhere. Let's be realistic about $ and to add..this clinic treated my dog better than most adult healthcare services. I'm not kidding. I wont cut pricing for my dog and I will NOT take my dog anywhere else. Thank you 404 animal hospital for taking compassionate, effective care of my puppy!

J Thibs

I have experienced the wonderful care at the 404 when some coworkers and I brought a beagle found on the side of the road with a broken back. The staff bent over backwards to help this little girl. I can't say enough of the care they gave her. We raised money to pay for it and they went above and beyond for her. I get sick of people thinking that vets should just work on any animal regardless of whether or not they will be paid. They would be closing their doors pretty quickly if they operated like that. I know their staff would like to be paid as they have families to feed too. Also...they arrange to be available 24 hours a day. True you pay a premium for that service but thank goodness it's available to us when we need it rather than waiting for the regular business hours of your regular vet. Do your research when you are thinking of getting a pet. This stuff comes with the territory.

My boy Rex was stung by wasps and within ten minutes he was covered in hives and his face was swelling up. He was having trouble breathing on the car ride so needless to say we thought the worst. As soon as we got there they rushed him in even though the wait was over two hours. This was a holiday with nothing else open so I'm assuming that's why the wait was so long. Everyone was wonderful and they even fed him because it was dinner time and he was hungry. No needles tests or meds were pushed. When we got the bill I was expecting a huge amount but it was only a couple hundred dollars. Great place!

I have utilized their services now for over 2 years., I had a Pomeranian dying of stage 4 renal disease , was told he also had cardiac failure and needed to take him to specialists in Toronto. I did as they said and $2,000.00 later was told NO he DID NOT have heart failure just the renal failure. Went constantly back and forth after that to the 404 I never not paid or disputed my bill. They ended up eventually when it was time putting my boy to sleep. I have another dog who also would go there for services and I had made an appointment for the Dr. Walters to please recheck him for several issues mainly his trachea collapse and took the morning off from work only to get a call from them to say Dr Walters is doing virtual visits? so now I missed work and she never got to examine my dog. After I was told I would still have to pay her as though she examined my dog 85$!!! I disputed this with them as it was not a useful visit just a phone call and now they are harassing mew for the $85. I HAVE SPENT OVER 4,000.00 WITH THEM AND HAVE ALWAYS RECOMMENDED THEM AND NOW THEY HAVE THE AUDACITY TO HOUND ME FOR $85. I have now found another emergency clinic.

Anthony D

Absolutely disgusting that a 24h emergency veterinarian has refused to see my sick dog because they are to busy. I called early in the afternoon and they said to call somewhere else. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Michelle Cudworth

I brought my cat in, in an emergency the staff and receptionist were great.... unfortunately my poor girl didn't make it :'( I had her cremated and a paw print done (was suppose to) but was informed a few weeks later that they had a "miscommunication" so the paw print didn't get done and she was laid to rest in the wrong earn.. this breaks my heart completely! Her paw print can never be replaced. So it is something I have to live without, and know that a screw up prevented me from having that keepsake along with the wrong earn..

Lorraine Chadwick

No. It is not about the animal or its suffering, it is all about the money. I question how an "emergency" hospital can be so callous. My 9 month pregnant daughter waited for 6 hours for someone to see her cat and there was no water, no litter, no nothing. And then charged her 500 dollars to put him to sleep 3 weeks later.

No Name

My family and I have been dealing with the 404 clinic for many years. We have dealt with every department, under many different circumstances. From emergency situations, to referrals, to surgery, to consultations, euthanasia, and rehab. You will not find better care or better people anywhere! They have saved the lives of 2 of my beloved pets and continue to help us keep then healthy. They are a very professional, compassionate, and caring group of people. I, simply, can not say enough good things about them! I would also like to mention, the following; I, personally, take 2 golden retrievers (who have "issues") to the rehab department, twice per week. We have been doing this for more than 4 years. We are always treated EXTREMELY well. The ladies who care for us are amazing!!! The dogs love it and the therapy has kept them comfortable and mobile. Thanks Drew, Brenna and Virgilia. You guys are the best! Maggie and Finn say hi.

Melissa Adams

Absolutely terrible.Im don't know how they consider themselves to be a hospital. I called in an emergency 2 days ago as our dogs eye was really bad, 4 other vets said can't leave it. I am still waiting to hear from them. When I was told Friday night that someone would contact me in an hour. I am just disgusted.

Alyssa Fuller

After our dog was left sitting for over an hour at the Veterinary Emergency, Urgent Care & Referral Clinic of York Region down the road with over 100 porcupine quills in his mouth and a quote of over $2000 dollars, we called VCA. They were happy to take him right away with a quote that was almost a third of the cost of the other emergency vet clinic. The staff were polite and professional. Very happy with our experience!

Lusia Malik

Lisa Wardrop

The best emergency vet I've ever been to! Twice now VCA Canada has helped me in emergencies. Once when my shepherd got a porcupine last fall and today when my husky had plastic stuck in her teeth. I found their pricing extremely reasonable for an emergency vet and the staff are always super courteous and helpful. They haven't pushed for extra tests or services. I would recommend this office to anyone who has a problem with their animals.

Scammers! do not go there! they will misdiagnose your pet and will charge you an arm and a leg for it!

Vtsotsos2

I called 404 at 4am after finding out my rabbits had eaten his fair share of one of my house plants that was deemed ‘toxic to pets’. They were so kind and compassionate. They conducted some quick research and set my mind at ease that the risk was relatively low in this particular case. I’m so thankful for the advice I received and the time they took to help me. Attaching a photo of the plant muncher for penance.

About 3 months ago I took my cat in to the 404 veterinary hospital because he was throwing up all night and my regular vet was closed on Sundays. After blood work and x rays ,my cat was sent home with a can of cat food.Three months later I find out from another clinic the vomiting was caused by a tumour. One Sunday I rushed my cat in to the 404 veterinary hospital to administer iv fluids into my cat which would not have taken up too much time and they sent me home because they said they were full. If it was not for another amazing clinic in Aurora that took my cat in even though they were busy my cat would have died. I did call back the 404 veterinary hospital and expressed my concerns over this situation and asked them how can they possibly send a dying animal home. They replied "we were full". To add insult to injury they sent me a registered letter stating I am not welcome back there. I phoned them and told them I would not go back there with a 10 foot pole! They evidently do not care about the animals! Terrible place!

Kris Nin

Yesterday (Sunday) morning my 10 year old Yorkie had a seizure for the first time and it was absolutely heart breaking as we have never had any medical issues with her. vet’s office was closed and the other emergency hospital in Richmond Hill told me they are too busy, which was disgusting. Thank god I was able to take her to 404 and they took her in RIGHT AWAY even though it was a further drive for me. She was barely conscious, vomiting and unresponsive in real bad shape. This place is clean and has a large staff of knowledgeable vets with all the tools who specialize in different areas. They did blood work (among other tests) and it revealed she has pyometra and would need surgery asap. They kept her at the hospital for 24 hours and called me later in the evening with updates. In total my bill was about $1600 which is fine with me because it was an emergency and they took her in right away. We picked her up early this afternoon (Remembrance Day Monday) to transfer her to a vet for surgery and she was doing amazing compared to yesterday. I sincerely thank the staff and the vets that took care of Lola for 24 hours and explained the situation to us and what our options were. THANK YOU!

Sandra Orr

Great group of people right from the front desk to the surgery. Very impressive in their organization and thoroughness and always very very kind to the animals.

samantha sh

If there was a zero star option, then that's what they deserve to get. Staff are extremely rude; save your time and money and don't waste a dollar at this clinic that has zero understanding on how to treat their customers. After long time waiting, they cancelled my app. without calling or sending an email, but were insisting that they did email me and if I tell them no, then is better I just take my business elsewhere! Their manager was extremely rude and kept putting me on hold and disconnected the call. I booked my cat with another facility, and based on my experience and some other reviews, I'm glad I did!

Sam S

MAKE SURE TO GET A SECOND OPINION- I brought my dog in to this location almost 2 years ago with fluid in her abdomen. After an examination the vet told me that she likely wouldn't make it through the weekend and should be put down. I wasn't ready to do so, and brought her home to spend what little time I had left with her in comfort. Monday came along and I went to my personal vet who did simple blood work and assessed that whatever was causing the fluid to build up was not critical and we had time to do proper testing. Fast forward 2 years later with a proper diagnosis and medication for a heart condition and she is still a very happy pup! If I had listened to the vet at this location my dog would have lost her life far too soon.

Jordana Masi

This is the best hospital in the world! We brought our 12 year old Bailey in a few weeks ago after our family vet referred us there for a more specific treatment of his sudden anemia. After extensive testing and hospitalization, he was diagnosed with a pretty severe auto-immune disease called IMHA. This disease is really scary, and the discharge rate for dogs is only 50%. Luckily, our boy made it home. He was in the hospital for 7 nights total, under constant care and LOVE by the 404. It was a really scary and intense time for us, and we couldn't have made it through without their wonderful staff. Dr. Walter, Dr. Percival, and all the technicians went over and above with Bailey's treatment. With multiple calls a day to report on Bailey's progress, and very informative and thorough explanations of his condition. They continue to navigate us through his recovery, and we are so grateful we brought Bailey here. Having experienced a few different pet hospitals, this is hands down the best and most professional place we've ever been! I cannot recommend them enough!

BP M

Not impressed. Went to visit them today, and they have quite the scam going on, with a mandatory telephone consultation which they charge $113. I don’t need a phone consultation, I needed a Vet to examine my dog, and provide treatment. Obviously, this did not pass the sniff test, and we moved on to another vet hospital that is not trying to take advantage of their customers during this covid recession. I will be having words with my Vet for giving me this referral.

Antonella Catalanotto

Awesome service. Wasn't sure if my pug had eaten something that could have potentially made him really sick, he was acting off so I decided to bring him in. I was seen right away, and not pressured to have him go through any unnecessary testing. Reception was great, doctors were great, good customer service. Very happy, thank you!!

paula g

We had a traumatic accident happen to our Mia she had fallen off a 5 story balcony. This hospital was ready to immediately take her in their care, and Dr.Justin did an amazing job was very kind and patient with us and helped with explaining to us in all details the nature of her injury & all our options with surgeries at the referred clinics. They even took some extra xrays for her without charging us which was so nice. Reception had given us referral to vet clinics for further surgery & recovery information. Very professional & helpful hospital. Thank you to the whole team for all your help. Paula & Anton

We had an emergency situation with our boy Tyson. We were well looked after and the staff was very compassionate to our situation and answered all questions and did many tests to confirm that the decision that my wife and I had to make was the right choice for our boy Ty. During a very upsetting time they looked after us all the way through the process. I highly recommend them to anyone that needs the best care available.

I was very impressed with the professional manner the 404 Emergency and Referral Hospital took care of my Cat who was in distress. They treated her and kept her overnight she was fine when I picked her up the next day. I would recommend them to all, also the premises is well taken care of and very clean, you would not know that you are in a Animal Care Center. Thank you for your help Linda Wolf.

We were referred for our cat Dini's reoccurring ear infections that could not be cured for more than a month at a time. She was uncomfortable and irritable with pain and it was unbearable to watch. Our vet took a scope and found a growth in her inner ear that will need to be surgically removed now. We are confident that this will be done with great care and benefit to our beloved feline.

My regular vet told me to get my rabbit to this emergency clinic. I had to rent a car (1.5 hour drive), take time off work, only to be told it could be this or that and only an xray could rule out a tumor. But they could only do it two days from now?! What a waste of time and money. What's the point of being an emergency clinic if you won't do the minimum of an xray.

Had to bring my cat in for emergency care. The staff were so kind and caring. I went in feeling totally worried, left feeling completely reassured.

Dr. Gigilo sucks and is very rude

Its $195 for a consultation with a surgeon, outrageous!. I work with a surgeon (for humans) and they charge half of their fee. I went elsewhere

jean jensen

very caring staff, and very reasonable price. I pray I never have another emergency but if I did I would come to here

Don James

Horrible people! Worst place to take any animal you love. All they care about is money.

I would never recommend taking a pet here. Took our dog here on the weekend with an abscess. Was told it was a long slow growing mass that had been there for a long time and that the dog was not in any pain. Was given anti anxiety meds because she had "white coat syndrom" . I told vet that the dog had a history of developing abscess' that had previously been treated by draining and antibiotics. Was told that this was different and the ultrasound said it was a solid tumour. Also repeated that dog was not in pain and had no temperature . 5 hours later I returned with the dog because she was clearly stressed and in pain after waiting for 2.5 hours at clinic because this was not an "emergency" was given the same diagnosis and told to take her to the family vet on Tuesday for further evaluation. The following day (sunday) the dogs condition had clearly worsened. We found another vet who came to the house. The dog had a fever of 104 and was basically on her way out. This vet treated her immediately lanced the abscess gave her antibiotics and within 30 minutes the dog began to improve. If we had waited another two days our dog may not have survived. Never under any circumstances take your pet here.

Why do all these vets always try to force and push for euthanasia. Sometimes our beautiful animals can survive with little to no pain in treatment, stop taking advantage of vulnerable pet parents.

We had to go here in the middle of the night a month ago. Our 16-year old cat had to be put to sleep. The staff here were amazing! They took us in right away and the assistant set us up in a quiet room. We waited for a bit, as other emergencies were going on with other pets. However, she checked in on us quite often to make sure everything was okay. She was very kind and compassionate. The vet in charge, Dr. Justin Levasseur, was also very kind and compassionate. He walked us through everything and assured us that it was time to put our beloved Paws to sleep. We would definitely recommend this clinic in case of any pet emergency if your main vet is closed. The cost involved was reasonable.

Shameless people who only want your money, not to help you or your pet.

I called because my cat is limping around and I just wanted to see what I can give him to make him a little more comfortable and they told me if I didn't bring him there they were going to tell me what to give him unless I brought him in and pay them for a check up he doesn't need a check up just something for pain and they refused to tell me what he can take for that

3 stars, because I'm not actually sure how the service would have been if they took us in. Prices are reasonable and the receptionist was lovely. This mid-range review was not her fault at all, whatsoever. My dog had an emergency last night. He ate an entire treat pouch, leather included. The receptionist spoke with the vet, who recommended inducing vomiting. This is a time-sensitive issue that needed to be done within 2 hours of ingesting the thing. They turned us away -- told us they were "all hands on deck" and couldn't take my dog in. They referred us to another clinic in Vaughan that was easily 20 minutes further from where we lived. Also double the cost. We ended up going to Whitby, which was just as far, but because we have history there and we know their prices are also reasonable, we went. What I don't understand is this: What if my dog had eaten chocolate? What if my dog had collapsed? What if he had experienced a seizure? What if he ingested poison? Would this clinic have turned us away because they were "all hands on deck"? EVERY other clinic I know triages their pet patients and turns nobody away. They take the pet that is the highest priority and everyone else can wait. If this was a true-blue emergency, I would have taken my butt to the nearest emergency clinic and called on the way. So, I would like to hear from the owner: would you have turned my dog away if he was in a life-or-death situation? If this is the case, then I would not use this clinic as my go-to emergency clinic. When you live rural, everything is far. And you have to make a decision quickly. And really, 404, you guys are the only emergency clinic in the Whitchurch-Stouffville area, so there aren't a lot of options for people within a reasonable driving distance.

Ollie Vern

Do not trust these people, they will take your money and not take care of your pets. Moron's are running this place

Amazing! My dog, Remy, has had 2 knee surgeries here and the staff and Doctors are absolutely amazing with not only Remy but with me as well. They are so patient, caring, and understanding. They know how to read Remy and when he is feeling nervous or uncomfortable and they know how to explain everything in a way that makes sense and makes you feel good about what is going on. I would highly recommend them! I am so so grateful for everything that they have done for us!
