As of day this firm has a score of 4 over 5 and this rating has been based on 88 reviews.
You may have noticed that its rating is quite high, and it is founded on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may think that the assessment is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to leave their feddback when they've done well, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to write feddbacks when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Veterinarian belongs to the category of Veterinarian.
Dr Jennifer and her team are the absolute best. If you are currently looking for a vet, I highly recommend.
Our fur babies very favourite vet. We have been patients for many many years.
Caring place. Always come in with questions and ask for alternative medicine (e.g., what if we give my dog...)
DrJen is amazing! Saved my Frosty the Rabbit’s life, he had head tilt disease and now it totally symptom free! I was so grateful for the compassion and genuine concern for my rabbit’s health. My dog and cat are now patients. I was very upset when my cat had infection of her gums and required 7 teeth removed (she had been at her previous vet ) months before - Dr. Jen saw the problem right away. My cat was sent to a veterinary dentist. I wish my pet had been a patient here since I adopted her 8 years ago. I believe her teeth would have been saved. I totally trust this vet’s advice! Great and compassionate staff!
My Dog Bailey for some unknown reason is nervous around vets that was until we met Dr. Jen. Bailey just adores her and now gets excited every time we say want to go see Dr. Jen. All the doctors and the staff do a great job of making us feel welcomed and I can tell that the team here actually cares about Bailey's health and wellbeing. I would recommend this Animal hospital to anyone looking for a great vet.
Dr.Jen Thompson is a wonderful vet. All the staff are friendly and compassionate. I feel they take amazing care of my cats and I'm very satisfied with the service I received.
They are wonderful to my dog and my family.
Great vet and staff
PS- they have never seen/ treated any of my animals. This is regarding something else. I did an interview with them approx. 4-5 months ago. They said they weren't interested. Ok. That is fine. But I have been checking indeed (the website I used to apply) and they are ALWAYS hiring a receptionist/ vet assistant. Every 2-3 weeks they post a new posting for this position. A place with that much turnover in staff is very fishy and makes me wonder what the problem is and makes me very hesitant to apply again. So if you are reading this review because you are thinking of applying or have applied. Please be aware of this. Clearly people get fired, or they leave, or every person who has applied/ interviewed isnt good enough, etc. Again, they have never seen or treated my animals. I do not know the quality of the work of the staff/vet(s) here. I am just starting a tend I have seen in their constant state of hiring people and thought I would help people out by making them aware. MY RESPONSE TO THEIR RESPONSE: Well clearly there is still a problem with people "meshing" with your staff as you've been hiring for many many months now. Either your standards are too high and the (I'm sure MANY) people who have applied, none are good enough for you. Or alot ot them have withdrawn after meeting you. Either way. There is a clear issue here and I am informing other member of the Veterinary community before they make any decisions to come here.
After taking my dog here for years, we decided to look elsewhere. The staff is friendly and seem competent, but too many unpleasant experiences, usually surrounding the bill. I remember recently I was asked if I would like to protect my dog against something-or-rather as he got his standard shots. The needle was explained to be $30. For an extra thirty bucks, why not? After asking a few questions, the $30 I was quoted did not include the booster shot he would need in a week, nor the appointment to get the booster. All in, I would have been on the hook for $120 when all I was quoted was $30. Similarly, our dog had a major procedure done, where we were quoted somewhere between $500 and $1500, depending on several factors once the surgery started. While we were fortunate to get a "best case scenario", we still paid upwards of $900 because they used double the anesthetic quoted, and just plain forgot to put the x-rays on the quote. If something is left off the quote, I think it should be left off the bill. Anyhow - these are fine people that work here - but looking around the city, there are absolutely better vets out there for loving but budget-conscious pet owners.
My pet is an old patient at the clinic so when he went for his last check up we realized that the ownership of the clinic had changed. Since you are already used to someone it takes time to get used to a new set of people. Our experience was very pleasant and my pet got good attention and excellent treatment. In fact the staff and the Vet on duty were nice and very professional. My pet needed a second visit and this time the procedure was long. However we are very happy with that treatment and my pet recovered fully. Thanks to the staff there. I would recommend Glen Erin Animal Hospital
Very friendly staff and usually have the supplies I require
We went there about three days ago, my lovebird was attacked by our car pretty serious. Dr Thompson was there , immediately she did everything possible to help our bird and right after she recommended us to drive straight to Guelph Estate Animal Hospital who are 24/7 emergency clinic. We were so lucky to have her because the first our was so crucial for our baby , as we followed up with her advice we went to Guyabd had another pretty amazing experience with also very professional and carrying vets on site! Thank you all to help save our little baby lovebird without you guys things would be different and not so happy! I give 5 stars for knowledge and care!
Avoid at all costs if you have a bird. My mother's cockatiel injured himself. Not knowing of any avian vets I searched for the nearest one. This was it. Since it was late into the evening they were closed. I emailed them asking if they could do a house call. No response at all. When my mom called they said the doctor who specialized in birds was not in. By the time she heard from the doctor it was late and she had given a referral to another avian vet. The clinic is currently moving and unorganized. They could have placed a comment on their website or refered my mother to another avian vet earlier on. Even if they had an auto response on their email. But nothing of the sort. I know people who had upstanding experience with vets who were busy and couldn't take any more calls but gave advice and kept calling every two hours to check in on how their pet was doing. You won't find any of that sort of care here. I would not recommend this "hospital". Unfortunately our pet passed away.
Always great
Friendly staff and experienced vets make sure to give the best care for your pets. They work with you to form a plan to address any issues that may arise. They have cared for some of my reptiles and one of my birds so far.
What a great team. If you’re looking to have a trusted vet, this is the place to go to!
The groomer knicked the paw pad of our sweet, nervous guy. He needed a staple and the caring, gentle staff at Glen Erin Animal Hospital were wonderful and kind, alleviating his anxiety and ours. If you feel that your companion animal is part of your family, you can count on this clinic to take extra special care of them. We had no worries at all in their capable hands. And his paw mended perfectly!
They are the best in town!! They treat your animals like family and with the upmost care. You feel welcomed the moment you walk in until you leave!
I am also looking for a new vet. My three cats had been patients at Glen Erin for over 10 years. The new owner immediately tried to sell me expensive food and said all three cats were overweight. This completely contradicted the assessment of the previous vet. How can my cats all be healthy for 10 years and suddenly need a special diet? I wouldn't trust this new owner. #Moneygrabber.
This was my first time visiting Glen Erin Animal Hospital. I don't normally travel outside of my area to visit vets, but I didn't have much of a choice since the rodent specialist in my area was all booked up. I've been to a few different vet clinics over the last 20 years and I thought Glen Erin's front desk staff/vet techs were the most friendliest, warmest and respectable staff I've seen. The actual visit was little bit different, however. Dr. Thompson made me feel very uncomfortable and I felt like I was being pressured to spend more money. The vet had trouble catching the mouse, because I had transported her in her large cage, and she kept running away. The vet KEPT REPEATING out loud how she'll have to charge overtime if it takes longer to catch the mouse. This was very unpleasant, because it was obvious that she cared about her money more than my pet. Then I was given an option of spending around $1,000 for emergency care for a mouse. She had first given me that option WITHOUT mentioning the cost, which I thought was very unprofessional. I told the vet that I'm willing to spend money on the assessment, antibiotics (if needed) and/or euthanization, but nothing else. As my mouse was dying (the vet DROPPED the mouse, and then gave her some needle. This caused the mouse to quiver and die), the vet asked me again if I wanted to put the mouse on oxygen, etc. I said no. Then after she died, I was given an option of performing an autopsy on the dead mouse. The way she was trying to upsell was SO AGGRESSIVE, that I almost laughed out loud. Of course, I understand that it's her job to let me know what the options are, but I felt she was very pushy. The problem here was that: 1) I had to repeat myself a few times about how much I was willing to spend on a mouse. I thought I had made it very clear, IN PLAIN ENGLISH, that I was not willing to spend that kind of money on a rodent. 2) She initially gave me the treatment options WITHOUT mentioning the cost. I know that my regular vet would've NEVER done that. I'm sure the vet knows exactly what she's doing: when people are put under such pressure in front of a dying animal, they are willing to fork out whatever they can. Also, not everyone is capable of saying "no" under such circumstances, due to fear of being judged for being a bad pet owner, etc. With this experience in mind, I would not recommend Glen Erin Animal Hospital to others. I have never seen such unprofessional, aggressive "saleswoman" at a vet clinic. There are many other vets in the GTA who are more considerate, honest and caring. -this review has been edited approx. a year after, because I had forgotten to include the fact that the vet had dropped my mouse-
Great service and highly knowledgeable regarding ferrets.
Charges high fees
We have taken our cats here for years & Dr. Jennifer Thompson has saved our cat Salem’s life two times now. Once he needed surgery to remove a button obstruction that he swallowed, another time he suffered from acute kidney disease. Without the highly knowledgeable and exceptional care of the clinic staff I believe our beloved cat wouldn’t be here today. As for cost we have found them very comparable to other veterinary clinics. I highly recommend Glen Erin Animal Hospital. We entrust them with our beloved pets care & wouldn’t go anywhere else.
I was at first nervous to have my pet handled by the doctors, but they blew me away with their care and expertise! They are so careful and kind to the animals here! I have never had my pet handled with such care and gentleness. The knowledge of the doctors here is extensive–they were able to diagnose my hamster very quickly and save her a lot of suffering. Thankful for Glen Erin Animal Hospital <3
Dr. Jennifer Thompson and the staff showed great compassion and kindness to our beautiful cat Tiger and patience with us in explaining his situation and helping us to understand his care. Dr. Jennifer was exceptional in reading Tiger's signals and respecting him. We were extremely grateful for the above and beyond level of care and accommodation we were shown and highly reccommend this clinic to anyone especially cats.
Always a pleasure coming here.
Fantastic clinic, especially Dr Sudds and Thompson. Dr Sudds is very caring and wonderfull to me and my dog.
Excellent care for pets!
Great staff
Very helpful and my cat was really conapated doctor helped him. Thank u.
I and my cat had a horrible experience at Glen Erin Animal Hospital in 2013. A female vet there poorly handled the euthanasia of my elderly cat, traumatizing us both and leaving me with terrible last memories. Had I not heard the yowls from my cat and investigate after being told I should stay in the waiting room until she returned with him, I wouldn't have discovered she had strapped him down and covered his head to tranquilize him. This after I offered to hold my cat to sooth him during the process & she waved me off that she'd first give him a sedative. Naturally I've carried guilt about agreeing to that arrangement ever since. So this is an attempt to inform others to take care where they go when it's time to release an elderly pet from their suffering and stay alert to what's being done with their pet. A capable vet will allow the pet owner to hold their pet during the process, which is normally peaceful for both and eases the sorrow of parting.
Great vet's
My pet died because of this clinic. Dec7 I took my sick bird to this clinic. The place is very unprofessional and overly priced. My bird was sick and I need urgent care for her . Dr didn't pay attention to my bird instead she was too busy teaching her student. I was really upset but I need to treat my bird asap. She was taking her sweet time with her student. She should of pay attention to my budgie first . It's all about money . I felt Dr didn't care . She should of suggest something for my bird to cure her better . She knew she was breathing hard . I am so dispointed with this clinic . I will never take my pet there. Please don't visit this clinic. My bird died today Dec 8 . I don't what kind of treatment she gave her that last night she died . I am so upset . It is not a good clinic. Bad experience and I lost my beloved bird .
I just started coming here with my cat and staff is always beyond friendly. I even forgot about my appointment once and had to show up late and still staff was friendly and welcoming. My cat got sick after eating a plant so I called the office, expecting to be asked to come in right away or pay for advice. Instead, the vet called me personally with tips about the situation and what to look out for (and was super friendly). It's a good thing I got this advice and symptoms to watch for because I ended up taking my cat to ER later that night and thankfully now she's happy and healthy! The animal hospital emailed me to follow up on my cat's well-being, and didn't force me into a follow up visit, something I expected could happen and dreaded after the heafty ER bill. Ps. I enjoy the follow up and reminder calls. My cat was newly adopted and I was eager to make sure she's happy and healthy (we had a bad experience before her where we accidentally adopted a different, very sick cat without being told) so to have the office call or email and ask how my cat is doing after the visit is wonderful. In these calls and emails, I could vent my paranoia and get proper information in return (ie. my new cat has the sniffles! Is she sick?? Oh this could be normal for a newly adopted pet? I feel much better.) Thanks guys! And a shout out to Nelly, you're great with the animals and their owners :)
Just had my two boys, Piper and Hickory, in for their check up with Dr. Sudds. What an amazing vet! 100% the best vet ever! The boys have never been so calm! Thank you!
I had to go here for an emergency when my regular vet was unavailable. I was late by 30 mins and they staff were still very pleasant with me. The vet (owner) had a good attitude and spent ample time with both my pets giving a thurow diagnosis . Although in my opinion she recommended a form of treatment that was above the bare necessity of what my pet needed (ie antibiotics for scabing) it was comforting to know that my pet recived proper care. I'm not an expert (that is why we have veterinarians). The vet and staff gave full recommendations to form of treatment and options for care. I was sceptical based off of some of the previous reviews saying that they were money hungry. I can assure you that at the end of my visit the $450 I spent on 2 rats I felt was justified. I was shown pricing options and the whole process in my opinion was very transparent. The saying you get what you pay for is true for so many things, when it comes to the health of my pet I want to be sure that they receive proper and insightful professional care. Maybe because healthcare is free in Canada people forget how expensive it can really be. The price for a session with other vets is comparable to what I paid from previous experience. In terms of recommending this place to other rat owners I would say there is absolutely no problem trusting GEAH for sound medical advice on your pet rat. The only recommendation I would make is to format the patient form a little more. I rated 5 stars because I feel the 2.5 star it currently holds is not a true reflection of service.
Friendly staff. They really care about your pets.
Dr Thompson takes great care of my rabbit. She has plenty of patience for both animals and humans.
I am a new client to Glen Erin Animal Hospital and recently had to bring my Border Collie there after an unfortunate accident. The staff was compassionate while being informative and an emergency surgery was performed. I appreciated the follow up calls while he was recuperating and I'm happy to say that my boy has now healed completely.
Best vet in the GTA hands down. So thoughtful and caring!!!
Very caring staff. Not trying to sell a product, genuinely interested in your pet's well being
I've been bringing my 7 year old dog here since she was a puppy. The veterinarians are professional and friendly. They take the opportunity to get to know you and your pet and personalize visits. Check ups are on time and they go above and beyond to keep you informed about what's going on that could affect your pet.
Excellent vet and the staff are wonderful. Would recommend this place 100 percent. I come from Toronto. And would not go anywhere else. Many thanks to the whole staff. You have all been so wonderful and kind. Thanks for all your help. The Moore family.
I take my bunny there .i find them competent and very professional .plus very freindly.
They’re fantastic with my little guy! He’s a big scaredy cat… literally… they do such a great job comforting him and making him feel safe during all kinds of visits
Friendly staff. Very helpful
The ownership changed a few years ago . The reception and new owner are terrible .. I’ve since found a new vet .. it sucks because they used to be really good and very friendly , now you feel like a number and a $ sign walking in ..
Horrible
What turned me away from this vet, was the constant calls. Stop harassing your clients One voicemail is plenty!
Glen Erin Animal Hospital is on a class of it own! Great service and care. The vet was very helpful and understanding about the situation with my little kitty. They were very clear with their assessments and pricing. They gave me all the time in the world to come to a decision and guided me with great insight. Highly recommend coming here!
Great place!!! Kind and understanding Vet and staff. Even though we not a client they took us. The first Aninal Hospital I called refused to take us. Avery got sick very fast. He was dragging his back legs and did not make a sound when I would pick him up so I knew he was in rough shape. The vet took him in and 10 mins latter she came out and told me that during her examination she found that he was now blind and the only place he seemed to have any feeling was in his right front paw. Between the two of us we made a decision what to do with him. The vet and her staff were very understanding and comforting when the decision was made.
I have been going here for years and ever since i learned about the new owner, it is not like it use to be. First off most of the staff I loved is gone, and the new staff is very rude and don't seem to care. The owner told me I have to get blood work on perfectly healthy 2 year old dog. I didn't feel comfortable with my animals there and I have been going there for 10 plus years. I also heard the groomer wasn't there anymore and I use to take my animals to Sue for years, and I got told that it wasn't clean and Sue didn't care about her animals she groomed and that is not true. The new staff seemed a bit disorganized and didn't know what they were doing. I also thought that the new staff were fake and I just don't get the feeling of a welcoming clinic. I have switched vets as I just didn't want to take my pets to a place like this. I have heard too that a lot of the old staff were treated badly and aren't there anymore. I do not recommend this place.
Dr. Sam is one of a kind. He is professional and hardworking. He clearly loves his profession and makes you feel at ease leaving your pet with him. Highly recommend him.
Read the 1 star reviews first and you'll be better off. The other day was my last attempt at making an appointment staff are rude and looking further into the reviews my daughter pointed out there are only good reviews from the old ownership.
I am appalled by the level of incompetence and dishonesty on the part of the vets in this clinic. Here is my story: I purchased a 3-4-week-old bearded dragon that was active and energetic from Petsmart in the beginning of July. Despite my excellent husbandry (as I was told by the vets themselves before, during, and after the treatment process), he would not eat sufficiently in the days and then week following his purchase. Unbenounced to me at the time, he was displaying all the tell-tale signs of adenovirus (ADV), a virus commonly occurring amongst dragons who fail to thrive within the first 3 months of their life. This common disease, I later came to find out, has an extremely high mortality rate. Rather than bringing this to my attention early on, the vets proceeded to administer antibiotics 4 times (even giving an accidental double dose on the last admin as evidenced by the last invoice ml amount) to a malnourished, dehydrated, underweight, and weak bearded dragon without any concrete evidence of an infection (negative stool sample, inconclusive ocular examination, and no signs/symptoms of respiratory/skin infection). To the tune of $700, I was left with a dead bearded dragon. Had the vets told me in the beginning about ADV and it’s near certain death sentence, I would not have continued to pursue veterinary treatment with a prognosis so grim. Clearly, these vets have no scruples and morals as they deliberately withheld information in order to string me along to syphon as much money as possible over the 4-5 visits we had. I find it hard to believe that expert exotic vets would not make me aware of such a common disease occurring in young dragons failing to thrive. Very crooked and sketchy operation here! DO NOT BRING YOUR EXOTICS HERE!
Enter from Durwin.
I've had issues with this clinic before however with having exotics (ferrets), I decided to try the experience again (previous issue was with the poor customer service by the receptionist who is no longer there btw). Once again, massive issues - I had a very sick ferret, left her for the day, other clinics that I go to (small companion), I would get an estimate of costs so I can decide how to proceed. I didn't get that from the clinic - when I got there to pick her up, the bill was $1200!!! And to top it off, they never followed up on my pet - radio silence (she is dead btw). I had another ferret that I paid almost $1000 worth of tests that were inconclusive and because I dropped a grand, she waived the referral fee for the specialist, Now, I have another sick ferret and they are sticking me with a referral fee to go to a specialist because I only had vaccines done there and not a bunch of tests that would have cost $$$! STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLINIC - they say they will "provide all services to your beloved pets" - all they belove and care about is taking $$$ out of your pocket!
Always great
Wonderful veterinary office. Polite and professional. Top notch staff, very dedicated to the health of your pet.
Glen Erin Animal hospital has been around for over four decades. The staff and vet are veterans in the care and well being of pets and also have experience dealing with wild animals such as raccoons. They take extra care when handling high strung or difficult cats and ensure pet owners' experience is always a positive one. They are true animal health professionals. I have a very difficult cat and was initially concerned they wouldn't be able to manage the high strung feline but it turns out they specialize in feline care and behavior. Needless to say, they knew exactly what to do and took care of my cat's needs quickly. I was late on a couple of occasions and their willingness to accommodate me was greatly appreciated. Throughout the years our family has put 3 of our pets in the care of Glen Erin vets and they have never disappointed us. Lulu and Lucky are now resting in peace but they received great care from these vets. The previous vet even rushed to our house when our cat Lucky had an allergic reaction after being administered a rabies shot. Now it's Felix's turn to carry on with the tradition at Glen Erin Animal hospital.
Dr Thompson is great and the staff know what they are doing
We have been clients at Glen Erin Animal Hospital for 30 + years and have always been pleased and confident with the care until the change to the newest ownership. We were very disappointed to hear that the practice has changed so significantly in that follow up appointments are now being charged. This was the final "straw" for us as clients as we have been concerned about the steady shift in practice with the new owner(s). We feel that the priority now for Glen Erin Animal Hospital (GEAH) is for "upselling" clients with outrageous charges, recommendations, etc. We no longer feel confident in the practice as we are unsure if our pets really require a treatment, service or product or whether it is just a "money grab" for generating more income for the business. I am not alone in my concerns as I have been informally surveying friends and family that, like us, have been going to GEAH for decades. We have now saught an alternate veterinarian service.
ALWAYS hiring. Be aware of that if you are looking for a job here. I get emails all the time from indeed over the last year or so saying "new job postin from Glen erin animal hospital" It is kinda sketchy. Clearly there is soemthing wrong with this picture. They keep hiring n letting go? Idk...
Upon reading the reviews here, I have to agree with the negative ones. I have been bringing my animals to this location for at least 28 years. The previous owner and staff were excellent and do miss them. This new owner is only out for the money, also looking for a reason to poke your animal for blood or running the same test a few times to get the same results. I swear they are sneaking in fees into the totals to cover you saying no to stuff. Going to the vet for any animal is stressful enough. I had to put one of my dogs down last year and was the most horrible experience... not that losing your animal is easy but how they did it and made my baby girl suffer was inexcusable. We did go in with the doctor and she did explain the procedure, gave her a sedative, but they poke her with a needle 5 TIMES.... even though the tech told the doctor which needle to use, she blew the tech off and kept abusing my dog!! in the end, she ended up using with the tech suggested. If my dog was well enough to go home and to do another day at another place I would have but she was not well and to know her last moments were so abusive is extremely painful. I am also looking for a new vet as I do not trust the care or service of this location anymore. Its not about the animals anymore!! I miss the old owner and his staff, Always did right by us!
