They are awesome here. Nicest staff. Love Crystal! Vets are on point. Always great with my pets, and fair with what is needed. Highly recommend this place!!
Great vet for small animals, birds, cats and dogs but don't go for reptiles.
Late night service
They have an awesome front desk team. Smiles all around. Vets are knowledgeable and they give you options and even personal recommendations. Unfortunately, this vet location continues to increase prices of initial visits and other services. They never let you know prior that there might be a price increase, until you are at the end of your visit with a bill higher than what you thought. My advice: if you have deep pockets come here. If you care about honesty, transparency, and a vet to not break the bank, travel 30mins outside of the city. It will cost you 50% less
Let me start by saying the staff here are friendly and the vet was also very nice. My main issue is a lack of transparency and greed. My cat went in 1.5 weeks ago for a full exam because of loose stools and litter box issue (not going in his litter box). Yesterday he was showing discomfort while urinating and had trails of urine all over. I called prior to making an appt to get a quote. The receptionist said it would be $90 because it’s going to be a recurring visit for bladder and litter box issues. I made the appointment. When I got there, I had to wait about 30 mins - which is a bit irritating but things happen so that’s ok. The issue was when I was paying, the receptionist did not tell me a breakdown of what I’m paying. She just said the full amount of $190. Wanting to get out of there fast with a stressed cat, I didn’t bother and just paid (also was wondering if the meds and tax might be the reason for the total). When I finally got in the car I took a look at the receipt - they charged me for a full exam. I actually ran back to reception and told her I was quoted for recurring visit after telling the receptionist EVERYTHING on the phone. What did they say in return? Oh this is a “different issue” earlier it was diarrhea and this time it’s urine. Our receptionist must’ve miscommunicated. If the receptionist miscommunicated then maybe it’s not the clients fault? Perhaps train better staff. You have enough money to, I’m sure. EDIT: since you responded, I will have you know that the first visit was NOT "happily" resolved (maybe check your own records before making a statement). there was no diagnosis, no treatment from that visit. my cat only recovered from the diarrhea by himself. and the diarrhea overlapped with the urine issue when I visited the second time. if you want to get technical, I can too - but lets just save each other's time. With this kind of greed and rudeness, I'd rather take my money elsewhere.
Fantastic vet and service. Would recommend to anyone who needs exotic pet visits. Assume they are equally great with the dogs and cats I see there.
Great care for both my pets
117 dollars to look to look at my bird for literally 5 min....biggest rip off of my life lol jokes
Took my 32 year old African Gray Parrot there for the first time today. Impressed by the facility, the friendliness of staff (especially reception), loved Dr.Allen on how she handled my bird efficiently. Will definately recommend the clinic and looking forward to a long relationship. I was stressed as my bird does not like to be handled but, Dr.Allen and her tech were absolutely awesome. Thank you Dr.A
Dr V is amazing very knowledgeable and understanding ! Only vet place I would trust with my macaw, they have good cheap toys and food. The assistants are great really nice and helpful, a bit pricey with procedures but its a given with the great service, better to be safe than sorry ! :)
We have been going here for about 20years now with all of are animals. Have always found the staff polite and helpful, have always treated are dogs with love and care during there vists or if they needed to stay over. Even when we had guinea pigs they were well taken care of. Would just like to say thank you for keeping are current (Yuki,Kai,Bear,Daisy) and past (Bella,Hoochie,Sherlock) furry friends in good health over the years.
Friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive staff
My dog died on the table during a routine neuter procedure..... I have to wonder if they weren't so pushy about pulling baby teeth taking X-rays if he would have made it through just the procedure we ask for! The procedure would have cost with microchip teeth X-rays etc 970.00 RIP - Rosco 0ct 2015- May 2016
I received a great service from this hospital. Dr. Samantha Johnson examined my hedgehog and it was clear to me that it's better to euthanize him, something I suspected and came to this hospital for to begin with. Her thoutful way of communicating the procedure to make feel comfortable was great. She asked me my wishes, if I want to be present during procedure. I declined to witness the process, too painful for me. But I'm glad she confirmed it several times just in case I changed mind. Left with great sense of how good my hedgie was cared for in the last minutes of his life. Thank you.
Very friendly and professional.
The staff is knowledgeable. I also like the covid measures in place over here, they screen you and make sure there is one client inside the building at a time
They are very good and professional!
Thank you to everyone at Britannia Animal Hospital who tried their very hardest to keep our Guinea Pig, Winston happy and healthy. He had an incurable disease and Dr. Johnson and the team did their absolute best to ensure he was comfortable and not in pain. Winston is devastatingly not with us any more, but we are forever grateful to everybody there for treating our little man with so much love and care during a very hard time. We thank you all so much, truly an amazing team of humans.
I called early Friday morning last week, in a bit of a panic with a wounded animal, amongst all the covid19 closures and shut downs. Immediate pickup of my phone call, a calm and kind voice asking how they could help. When I explained my situation, they told me to bring in my animal right then and they would help me. I can’t thank them enough. Their kindness and professionalism helped me and my daughter immensely that morning. Thank you!
Professional vets that treat your pets with respect and humility. Definitely recommended.
Horrible dirty looking place, with the worlds most arrogant money grabbing Dr. The College should investigate this place now.
Very nice and caring staff, but I found their prices to be quite steep compared to the vet clinic we usually visit (Cheltenham).
Great place. I have been bringing my pet here for years. Amazing and friendly staff.
I hope this is taken as more of constructive criticism and not hate. I’m coming from a place as a past client sharing my experience in hopes that changes can be made. I believe a prescription should not be given to a client without instructions. I was given ear cleaner for my bunny, upon pick up I asked for instructions to which she replied “it’s on the bottle.” When I go home on the bottle it says “use as prescribed by vet.” I then had to call the clinic. The lady phoned me back and said “cleaning bunnies ears can be tricky you should book an appointment so the vet can show you.” I was completely shocked because it is pure negligence giving a client a prescription if you think they are not in capable hands of using it appropriately. I asked the price and it was $145(I might be off by a few dollars) which is a full examination price! I told her that I was in for a check up less then a month ago but she didn’t have anything to say. I ended up finding another vet shortly after this call. On another note I noticed a lot of people are saying this clinic over charges and I can’t say I disagree. During the full examination everything came back as normal, no gas, literally nothing wrong yet the vet prescribed pain medicine. I asked her why and she said “they can’t talk so you don’t know when they are in pain” like what?!?! I was so confused…left with a 300$+ bill. I’m not upset about paying that much, I just wish she had helped me understand why pain medication was even necessary in the first place.
We have 2 birds that we have been taking to see Dr. White and Dr. Jaques for the past 5 years. Both doctors are always very gentle with them and thorough. I have witnessed the atmosphere in the clinic after a client had to bring their pet in to have it euthanized and was touched by how the entire staff seemed to be genuinely upset and were very respectful. The clinic has a family type feel to it and the receptionist, Gloria, in particular, is always very pleasant and welcoming. Also, if you board your birds there, the staff actually take the time to give them individual attention.
I used their services for my bird twice. The doctor just wants to make money by using scare tactics and has no clue about birds. My $600 spent wasted. Also, the doctor prescribed a lot of medications for a simple eye infection. Bird did not recover, instead died of a massive heart attack. We were devastated.
@Kavin Ranges, I am so sorry you lost your bird. Birds are very lovely pets and are my favorite pet to have. As a seasoned bird owner, I can tell you that all birds mask their symptoms of illness. This is why regular veterinary care is so so important for the health of your pet. If you wait until the bird is visibly sick to seek veterinary care, then it is likely already too late. I have been a long time client of Britannia Animal Hospital and I can tell you and anyone seeking a veterinarian, that the level of care and the degree of competence of all staff is exemplary. With respect to the $150 charge, @Kavin Ranges, time is money. Regardless of the outcome, the doctor's time has value. I hope if you decide to buy another bird or exotic pet that you will be sure to take it for its check-ups every six months, as recommended.
I understand that it is difficult to find a clinic that you trust when bringing your exotic animals for care. I was recommended to visit Britannia to care for my almost 10 year old mini Rex bunny. Staff here was very accommodating and professional. You can put your trust in the doctors to make sure that your furry friend is safe and well taken care of. Thank you so much Britannia for all of your help while caring for my bunny we appreciate you all.
Very knowledgeable and helpful Doctor
Happy to be there
Very expensive!!This place is a scam!I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone that has small pets.
Still our best veterinarian clinic for our yellownaped amazon. 12 years and going.
They were so helpful when my bunny fell ill and no one else was able to help us
I am at a loss for words, speechless of how horrible my experience was just today. I brought my daughters Leopard Gecko who is obviously not well, to this Animal Hospital. The doctor came in spoke to me for a couple of minutes, explained that the shedding of the reptile was an issue along with other issues. She then advised to put the reptile ‘down’ and for me to take time to call my daughter. After that point no one came to offer anything and left me in the room to the point I had to literally pack up our pet and leave the room myself. No care or consideration, just three woman talking even when I approached the counter, I literally had to ask to pay. I would never recommend this place to anyone, and the person(s) who recommended me here will be displeased to hear of this experience. If you want to simply donate your money to this hospital this is your place.
Very helpful, took good care of my rabbit.
Dr Vasalmis is fantastic and very knowledgeable
Great caring Staff
Was unable to see my regular veterinarian, so I was very surprised and pleased they could accommodate my needs immediately. Friendly staff and thorough vet. She even made sure to contact my usual vet for my rabbit's medical history. They also have strict covid protocols in place, which is very important during a pandemic. I would definitely recommend this clinic to friends and family!
Very friendly and clean and very knowledgeable
Brought my pet green cheek conure here for the first time. Staff was amazing answered all my questions (even the dumb ones). It was our first time taking our little guy to the vet which can be a scary experience but they made sure we were comfortable. Thank you so much ! Would recommend bringing your bird here !
Just AWEOSMEEEE
Very nice staff! Had to bring my two guinea pigs for a check-up, and the assistant and doctor were VERY welcoming, nice, informative and GENTLE- and I think that’s important. Will most likely be my go-to vet place!
Very wonderful staff. My bunny was sick and they took amazing care of him. They were so helpful and supportive .
Beak trim for my parrot. Before and after pictures.
Helpful and knowledgeable but felt too much of cross-selling taking place
Great place, caring staff
Hi I have a question, my cockatiel is acting very weird and breathing with his mouth open and not eating anything. I was wondering how much would it cost to for the check up. I got my parrot just two months ago so I’m not trying to lose him.
The vet and receptionist were extremely caring for my old guinea pig. I wish I had found them years earlier.
The doctor was really good. However, I did not appreciate the pressure tactics by the doctor. The doctor tried to put a lot of pressure on us to purchase additional services which I did not appreciate and also threatened to call animal services.
Really knowledgeable vet with my small dog problems
Pts my ferret. They were really good with him. Just a little pricey
I really like place Because Dr Young and staf on main desk or I would say everyone in Britannia Animal Hospital are very very helpful. Specially speaking about Dr Young she is very nolige
Friendly and helpful staff. Small store, so easy to shop in a hurry.
Doctor Johnson helped me in saying goodbye to one of my budgies Kiwi last year, who will always be missed. She was very kind and patient, it was a very difficult time but I appreciated her guiding me through it. Now she is caring for my bunny Bugsy, who was feeling very ill about a month ago, but now I am so grateful to have him roaming around happy and giving me licks and kisses... he is still under care, but hopefully I will have more days like this with my sweet boy. She truly cares about our babies and is very knowledgeable. ☺️
Always courteous and prompt and they take the best care of my Lindo
Very professional. My parakeet was very sick with the crop infection. Dr explained all the steps and fees. Within a day by parakeet was eating and much better. I would recommend this place.
I went there ONCE, what a rip off, brought my parrot there for nail clip, they said the would have to do a complete physical on my bird, I have hade her for 30 yrs and is healthy as can be but they wanted to extort extra money f me, I told them to go to hell.
Dr. Valsamis is awesome. He’s taken care of my parrots the last 10 years or so and you can tell he loves birds. Everyone else (techs, like Carley, and reception staff, like Gloria) is also very nice!
Cannot agree with the pricing they quote on regular treatment for a dog
I go here regularly with my cockatiel to get him a checkup and wing trim. Dr. White and the whole team there are just great. I wouldn't ever bring my bird anywhere else. An excellent practice.
Great staff friendly and they know their stuff.
They KILLED MY Bird and made me pay $150!! Very Uneducated Doctor. I took my bird in for a checkup as it felt a bit sick, the bird was eating and drinking fine. The doctor did not allow me into the room during examination and the doctor cut my budgie's nail without asking me!!!! your not supposed to cut budgies nail while they are sick, it stressed them out more!!!!!! and died shortly during examination. The doctor is new and Very Uneducated! They killed my budgie and made me pay, they wouldn't give me my budgie back.
Staff is super friendly and caring. I always feel like my bird is in good hands. They also called the next day to make sure my little guy was still doing okay!
They have a great doctor for birds.
Routine spay for pet rabbit, ended with a dead rabbit. Perhaps not their fault,?...perhaps we should have done more due diligence with respect to experience of the doctor performing surgery. Nice staff, but that doesn't make up for the end result.
Great Staff and Doctors. Always available to help our Dogs ????
Really good service! They took good care of my little guy. They are professional, patient and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place for your companions!!
The only Vet I would take my parrot to.
Great Dr. and staff been going there for over 25 years, very caring people and very helpful . Although my bird is not a very good patient, Dr john is great with him.
I had a hedgehog with an sudden infection on her face. They were able to get me a next-day appointment on a Saturday, and they provided excellent and, compassionate care at each appointment. When Cinnamon unfortunately passed aw a few weeks later, they sent a sympathy card that was much appreciated at the time.
The vet and staff was cooperative, They took care of my kittens because following covid -19 protocol, I was waiting for them outside in my car.. I am satisfied with their services and welcome kitten programme. Will recommend it..
Great place for exotics. They are very nice
I took my adopted bearded dragon here. He seemed a bit off when I got him. 2 months later. After everyone telling me he was just fine I took him to this veterinary practice. I spent over $500. And the female vet said he may have worms... after learning more and taking him everywhere I could think of I learnt he has mild metabolic bone disease... the veterinarian did not mention that at all... not even a suggestion that it could possibly be the case... money grubbing loser who should not advertise as a vet who sees exotics if she has even less knowledge then a layman. Since discovering what was/is actually wrong he has made great strides, thank goodness (and a very unthankyou to the vet) I am so glad I caught it early and so unhappy I ever went to this vet. Maybe they’re good with other animals but do not take your reptiles here!!
After a horrible horrible experience at credit view hospital, i decided to take my quacker here in hopes that I can help my feather baby recover. I was able to book an emergency appointment the same day, Staff were super friendly, great service, showed real concern about my parrot, ran all the tests required to find out the root of the issue, provided us with manuals and instructions on how to raise our quacker in the best health possible, the vet went out of his way to do everything he could, all for a reasonable cost. This is my 2nd time ever writing a review, but I feel the need to express how grateful i am, my feather baby is finally on the road to recovery and I wond hesitate to take him back here if god forbid i needed to. thank you so much for everything you do.
We love Dr Young. We recently brought our bun Floof in for an ear infection - he received stellar care from Dr Young, who is always very thorough. Dr Young took the time to explain things to us in detail, and make sure that all bases were covered in diagnosing and treating Floof. He's now on his way to recovery. We feel that the team at Britannia care about our fur babies as much as we do, and we've never trusted a clinic more. Thank you!
Great, caring and knowledgeable staff work here! Makes the stress of taking your pet to the vet alot less then it would normally be! I will definitely be coming back!
A great Animal Hospital with a caring, friendly staff and doctors. Dr White has been taking care of our animals for decades with understanding, dedication and concern. Fully recommended!!
i took my cat there. Extremely welcoming and very knowledgeable from staff to Doctors.
BE AWARE they share and disclose your personal information to third parties. Even veterinarians are bound by doctor patient confidentiality and this hospital has no respect for it. There are many incidents in which they disclosed personal information about your pet to others without your consent, who’s not to say they didn’t share you address, phone number, or even credit card info. I have personal seen my pet’s information online without my consent and a LAWSUIT is being filed against this hospital for violating patient’s confidentiality. This is not a false posting or a scam, there are many incidents online where they released sensitive information.
Found this place when I had an emergency with my rabbit. So grateful for this factastic clinic! The doctors are so kind and helpful and they were able to cater to my bunny within 15 minutes of me calling!
Very expensive but very knowledgeable and good vets.
November 15, 2018: Worst experience of my life, it was my 3rd visit to this place to get the treatment for my Cat which cost me about 200 dollars. After the treatment around 6:45 pm, tried to call cab/uber, no one was picking the phone. While I was waiting, receptionist ask us to leave, I told her that I am waiting for a cab, weather is too cold and snowy. At 7:00 pm receptionist told me that she can not wait any longer, asked us to step out and shut the door at my back. I end up walking 15 minute with my poor cat, without snow hat and boots, went to shop in plaza and called my friend to pick me up. I haven’t experience this kind of unhuman behavior. I still can not believe that someone can this to anyone. For sure I will not go to this place again. no choice, have to give 1 star to post this review. 2018-11-24: Hello, Why didn't you tell us that your daughter slid into a ditch with her car and that's why you were anxious/needing to leave to attend to her? But, I hope your daughter is fine. Maybe it was a 3 minute walk for you, but it wasn't for us in that kind of weather. Also, what if the shops weren't open at that time??? This statement by you "We also have a covered porch with seating that was offered for you to wait at while your cab arrived. " not true at all... all you did was "asked us to step out and shut the door at my back. " Thanks!
Really nice staffs and DR. Samantha Johnson was really nice and knowledgeable, she really took good take of Romeo (my bunny). Thank you so much DR Samantha Johnson and the staffs.
Always friendly service. I take my bird here :)
Never take your bunny(s) to this clinic, they don't know what to do and asked a lot of money for no reason. Worst excuse and the receptionists never follow-up, I have been waiting more than a year. Receptionists and doctors must call and follow up on their patients after have visited within a week or so, but I got zero calls. I believe 27 years of experience to have the worst doctors and receptionists.
I would NOT recommend this place! I brought my pet here and because of the medicine she gave us my pet is almost dead. So sad.
Dr. V . is the Best
AMAZING STAFF CARING FRIENDLY HELPFUL INFORMATIVE
I have been visiting the BAH for almost three decades now. They always take care of myself and my animals with the utmost in Excellency and professionalism. Certainly my favorite clinic for Avian veterinary care and an excellent choice for anyone looking for a great local animal medicine clinic in general!!
I love Dr. Jaques! She truly loves animals and does not try to sell you on services not needed.
The compassionate professionals at Britannia comforted us and our beloved guinea pig, Widget, in her final hours. I can't thank them enough.
Very professional personnel????
I came across this hospital via a referral this morning (July 31st) and want to commend them for the professionalism and compassion they demonstrated. Thank-you very much for you assistance. -Matt
Great care for your animal!
Very Kind and friendly staff. Best place for care of your Rattie family
This was the best vet experience anyone could ask for. Our little hedgehog Ruby was seen by Dr. Young many times since she was nearing the end of her life and had many complications. Dr. Young was very knowledgeable and compassionate. You can really tell she cares for her clients and animals in general. She did a great job with giving us as many options as possible and reassuring us that our decisions were good ones and that we were doing a great job with Ruby. With COVID we were not allowed to go in for the appointment but Dr. Young spent a lot of time with us over the phone during the appointment to walk us through her examination. She always apologized for talking too much but it helped me stay calm :) In the end Ruby did pass as we expected but we gave her the best quality of life for as long as we could. We even received a card in the mail from Dr. Young sending her best wishes. We have had many animals in the past and many vets when we lived in another city. Dr. Young, by far is the most amazing vet we have had the pleasure of meeting. I would definitely bring back our current and future pets.
I have nothing but the nicest things to say about my experiences every time I've taken my bunny Trevor there. The vet and staff are very professional, amazing, friendly, patient and always take time to explain and answer all my questions. The vet was very knowledgeable and genuinely cared about the well being of my bunny and checked for everything during her examinations of him while explaining everything to me and making suggestions. They would also call after Trevor's appointments to see how he was doing. Other Vets I had taken Trevor to before lacked the compassion, sensitivity, patience or knowledge on the proper care and handling of him. I highly recommend Britannia Animal Hospital.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Quick and easy to get an appointment, available next day.
So pleased with the care my rats received at this vet hospital. The vets are super professional - They don't try to upsell and really want what is best for both animal and owner. I feel much more assured knowing I have a reliable vet now!
Very nice and friendly staff. Special thanks to Dr. Allen for her compassion and understanding.
Really good vets.
These doctors dont even know to diagnose the problem..last month i took my budgie for yearly check up and they said he is doing good...last 2 days back my budgie was not well..he collapsed we got afraid and asked for an immediate appointment they gave us appointment 3hrs later but my budgies condition worsed so we called back and requested if we can get an emergency appointment and they said to bring him..the doctor dint even diagnose properly and said he had some metal mass inside him. And his survival chances are too slim and charged us double the price because it was an emergency and prescribed medication and said there is low chance of him surviving ny husband brought the budgie back home and after discussing we thought we will try the medication anyway if low chance also then again husband went back to buy the medication(before giving medication)within 2hrs the budgie tried to get back the normal but we were in such trauma that he will pass away..they charged us around 350$ which is not a small amount...we couldnt sleep whole night..next day morning my budgie showed signs of airsac rupture but he started eating and returning to normal...now this is second day his cheast inflammation is getting back to normal and he seems ok..so long story short these people care about only money not the animals..they never even called back to even enquire how my budgie is doing after the charged huge fee..i will never go back to these people again..These people traumatized my whole family by falsely diagonising my bird..i already lost a bird in September we took him to a hospital in oakville they valued our feelings and never charged me after telling my bird passed and put him in a small box and respected that little animal and us..that is how the doctor should be..i dont even mind these people charging me but these people took advantage of my situation and charged me double the money and wrongly diagonised and advised me to buy medication from them which is of no use...i will never ever trust these people again and will tell my experience to every pet owner i know so that they dnt go through the same situation..According to me money shouldnt be everything the love towards the animal should be priority if a avian does his job properly as a pet owner we will be very happy to pay whatever they demand.. Edit:We never asked to do anything for free and we paid rightaway and dint ask for anything back so there is no point of accusing abt the money....My point is your diagnosis was wrong and u charged double the money for a treatment which dint make any sense..moreover if we had gone for treatment which you suggested it would have been waste of money because the initial diagnosis was only wrong so that doesnt make any sense to waste money to hear back that there is nothing wrong with the bird after performing all the unwanted tests..
Unfortunately I had to put our little furry friend Hammy down. Dr White was very sympathetic and kind. She gave me her honest opinion on which direction to go and made this difficult situation a little easier. I left feeling that I made the right decision knowing that our pet is in a better place.
Vet and staff are friendly and caring
