I was using a vet way far away and then I came across a vet that was right across the street… Whitemudcrossing veterinary clinic Has been a godsend in so many ways… They are always friendly, Vet does an excellent job and the workers are just wonderful! So if you live in the Erminiskin, Empire Park and surrounding areas and have a fur baby….this is a great veterinarian clinic and we should ALL support our local community services!

best service! I'm a single mother and I'm on medical assistance right now I have no other income. My cat was in a really bad way when we took her in. This is a cat I've had for 14 years. I was there when she was born and she's a part of our family. She was the only one who helped me through my horrible labor. Never once leaving my side. We've been through a lot together. So when I wasn't sure I could pay for her care and worried what was going to happen to her. I was amazed and relieved that the whitemud crossing animal hospital could help her right away. And that their cost of care was lower then other places I tried. I truly believe I got the best help here. The staff was wonderful and really helped calm me from a very stressful situation. My 12 year old greyhound was having trouble with his paw after having an operation at another vets. His paw became infected and after several visits back to the same vet we decided to take him to Dr. Shilton. Dr. Shilton was kind and sweet to our dog, and prescribed a treatment, he had our dogs paw back to new in 10 days. Since then he’s been our pets doctor. The clinic is very friendly with wonderful caring service to both my pet and me as a client. I strongly recommend Dr. Shilton to those I meet who are in search of a vet.

Dr Shilton, in one word, is amazing. I've met many vets that are caring and really show their love for animals through their work, and he is no exception. His staff are all competent and helpful. I've never received an ounce of rudeness from any of them. The facility itself is always clean. We receive follow up emails for all of our visits (something I've never actually experienced with a vet before), including our first initial visit which was on a whim. They do not push the more expensive options, as long as it is not urgent. Overall, I'm happy I found Dr. Shilton and his wonderful staff.

It's not enough to call the Vets here great. They really go above and beyond to help folks with pets who either just need a check up or their shots or if they are going through really terrible or sad times in the lives of our furry family members. I'll always be grateful for the extra mile they went when my cat was near the end of his life, and how kind and understanding they were with me when the two new kittens we got a few months later snuck into my kids Easter chocolates. (Don't worry, they were both fine after thanks to the great folks at Whitemud Crossing.) Much love. Much respect. They are whole heartily endorsed by me.

The nurses and reception were amazing, I was a little worried about having my dog neutered but they made me feel very comfortable. Honestly when the doctor came out to tell me The surgery went well I didn’t think he was the doctor. 2 weeks later my dog had a scab over the incision the doctor PULLED IT OFF. I left there feeling a little confused it he assured me my dog was fine and he could go back to normal activities. 2 hours later he starts bleeding so I take him back the doctor goes yeah since I pulled the scab off it ripped some of the healing skin off, he will need to wear the cone for another 3 days and make sure he doesn’t bleed more later. Never taking my dog back here because of that doctor. IF IT WAS JUST THE NURSES AND RECEPTION I WOULD CHANGE VETS TO GO HERE BUT THE DOCTOR RUINED MY EXPERIENCE of this place.

Dr. Sheldon was amazing veterinarian. staff was friendly and I can say I will not change my vet at all. Highly recommended. We have two dogs one is cross terrier and other one is my pomeranian. Cross terrier used to be in other vet clinic, we decided to transfer all his record to this clinic with my pomeranian as I am very happy with the service and really affordable price. I started at this clinic after adopting a kitten from Zoe's Animal Rescue, but I also had an adult cat of 5 years that has suffered much illness for over 2 years who I transferred to the care of this clinic. I appreciated very much the vet seriously listened to my concerns and came up with a long term treatment for my cat's chronic conditions. It's been about 2 months now and what a great improvement the adult cat has in his health now, and I am much less worried and stressed now that my cat is doing so much better, purrs more, more playful and eating better. The clinic has friendly pleasant staff, great hours and open 7 days-a-week pretty much.

Highly recommended! I took my toy American Eskimo dog in for a dental check up, complimentary I might add. The vet was amazing with her and accommodated her skittish behavior. They were able to get her in quickly and the estimate for the work were extremely reasonable. When I advised them that I was not able to find the record of her shots and they would not give her any unnecessary shots, very high integrity.

They helped us put our little cat buddy Gibby down when he was really sick and old. Gibby was the only pet I've personally had from start to finish and so it was really rough to see him go. Whitemud Crossing was really great about the whole thing made it as easy as they could. They let me have whatever amount of time I wanted with him before and after. They even settled the bill before hand so I didn't have to worry about it after...which is good because I sure as hell didn't want to be paying anyone anything after. I recommend them for your own little buddy.

MONEY GRAB - I do not recommend this place. In the last week of August 2021, I took my two cats for their annual examination and to update their vaccinations. One of the vaccines they got was leukemia which they were getting for the first time. I was told to come back in 3-4 weeks for a booster shot for both cats. I went back for my second appointment in the beginning of October 2021. I was surprised to see that they charged me again for examinations when it was done in my first appointment just 4 weeks prior. At first I thought it must have been a miscommunication, so I sent an email to ask about the second examination charge ($145 for 2 cats). The response that I got was that the examinations are done "as per ABVMA mandate" and that it's required to make sure that pets are in good shape before they get their vaccination. I've talked to few friends who are pet owners, but they all said they've never been charged again for examinations for their booster appointment. So I called ABVMA to confirm if I was informed correctly by the hospital. I spoke with the Complaints Director on the phone and confirmed that no, it is not in their "mandate' that examinations are mandatory for every vaccination. It was not my intention to file a formal complaint so I never shared the hospital information with ABVMA. So I brought this information to the hospital and requested to be refunded for the following reasons: 1) fees are excessive for examinations that were very basic (ie: weight, temperature) 2) I did not ask for another examinations and 3) it is not mandated by the ABVMA standards. My communication with the hospital was all done via email and all my back and forth were with their Customer Service Manager. I asked to be connected with the doctor directly to discuss whether or not I can be refunded for the second examinations and tried to deal with this situation amicably. But not once did the doctor give me a call back or a reply to my email. The Customer Service Manager sent me an email to notify that I am no longer their client and that they have issued me a cheque to refund me $145 for the second examinations. No single apology was received throughout the email correspondence. I am very disappointed with their poor communication and misinforming their clients. I do not recommend.

Saw lots of positive reviews for this clinic so we took him in for a check up. Pretty sure Dr. Shilton is an animal whisperer. Wow! Amazing! My dog was injured today and I was pretty lost as to what to do. I called a couple offices open on Sundays and I was having a difficult time getting the help I needed until I called this magical place. The reception staff (Amanda) and the veterinarian who offered advice were so helpful! They may not have been paid for there services today, but I will keep them in mind the next time I need to refer my clients to a clinic on a Sunday. I highly recommend Whitemud Crossing Animal Hospital and Dr. Shilton Cheriaparambil. Our 14 year old Manx cat suffers from megacolon and over the last couple of years Dr. Shilton has been very compassionate with Tommy and knows exactly what procedure has to be done and how to do it. During a recent episode we took Tommy to a different Animal Hospital and the Vet there was unable to perform the necessary procedure successfully and wanted us to return and pay an additional large sum of money and put Tommy under a general anesthetic and told us that Tommy might not survive. The next day we took Tommy back to Dr. Shilton and within 30 mins Dr. Shilton had Tommy's colon free and clear without sedation or anesthetic. A great big "Thank you!" to Dr. Shilton. The staff is very friendly, the hospital is clean, and there's ample parking.

Not only was I happy, but the puppy's little owner felt much happier knowing the puppy is in good hands. I posted this 7 months ago, (These guys are amazing, up front with costs and expectations.) however recently we had an issue with one of our cats. She became lethargic and refusing to eat/drink. I called the office, and they took her in, advised me to force feed her and give her 2 types of medication as she is only a year old. This didn't work as 3 days later i found her barely breathing and laying in her urine. I called the office, they advised me to bring her back in. They kept her all day and put her on iv fluids, antibiotics and did blood work on her. The blood work came back with some bacterial issues. They asked me to bring her back the next day so they could put her back on them, and gave me 5 more days of antibiotics to give at home. Thanks to Shilton, we have a healthy, energetic even more friendly beautiful kitty at home. We can not thank them enough for all they have done for us. I am extremely happy I found these guys, and will continue to bring all my animals there.

I cannot express how much we appreciate Dr. Shilton and his team (extra thanks to Rachel & Cassidy). I was concerned to take our very high energy pup anywhere but the patience of every worker at the clinic makes every appointment so much easier. Our pup Emilio had an infection after his neutering (due to him licking) and he subsequently needed more medication and further appointments. This added a bit of stress into our lives at the time and Dr Shilton showed true concern and a lot of care for Emilio. They also seemed to go out to their way to make OUR lives easier/less stressful at the time. Everyone at the clinic truly cares about the patients and their customers. Dr. Shilton has been the best vet I've ever had. He truly cares for your pets best interests even if it means sending you to someone else because of expertise. I recently took my cat in because she wasn't feeling well, without any appointment he took a look at my cat and ran some tests, a few hours later he called back and I went to go pick her up, he told me how serious the complications were and the specifics about how complicated the surgery would be, he suggested a few options and already had quotes from them on how much it would be. I eventually went with the option that was most affordable for me which turned out being Dr Shilton doing the surgery on thanksgiving at no extra charge. I am so grateful to him and would recommend him and his clinic for the many times we've been there.

I was recommended to see Dr. Shilton by a friend and when I finally took my dogs in I was mad I didn't do it sooner! I've spent more money at another place just trying to trouble shoot and problem solve some allergy issues with one dog and then bladder and incontinence issues with the other. It's frustrating because I'm on a budget and it's stressful to spend lots of money to have no solutions. Immediately I was impressed with him and his office before I even met him!! Dr Shilton always checks in after every visit, especially when one of my dogs had suffered from diarrhea earlier this year. Dr Shilton had answered my emergency questions outside of office hours quite a few time and was able to accommodate a couple of last minute appointments to make sure my dog was all right. The staff is very nice and helpful. I couldn't find my dog's vaccine records for boarding serves. I was very impressed that Dr. Shilton's assistant responded my email and provide all the records in 5 minutes! I would highly recommend this vet clinic.

I have taken my puppy here since I got her from the breeder 4 months ago. Dr. Shilton, Sara and Amy have been absolutely tremendous in their support of my puppy. I am an overly concerned fur-baby mom and Dr. Shilton has taken his own time to respond to emails and phone calls, reassuring and answering all questions and inquiries. I have been able to go to the clinic whenever I felt my puppy was in need of care due to allergies, growing pains and pica behaviour (which has been more often than what I think is "normal") and have recently just had her spayed. Dr. Shilton did such a fabulous job, my puppy has recovered so quickly from the operation, she is acting as if she didn't have surgery just a week ago. I am thrilled that he was recommended to me and will be my puppy's forever doctor as he is professional, caring, patient and totally understanding. I would highly recommend Dr. Shilton to anyone that cares about the welfare of their pet as he goes above and beyond any veterinarian I know, from past experiences.

It seems like they are not very experienced with cats. The Dr. Did not look comfortable holding my cat or examining her. They also gave a wrong diagnosis, which was a waste of money. I did enjoy talking to the receptionist, she was very friendly and I'd say even more helpful than the doctor. *please note that my experience was with a cat, they could be good with dogs.

We have a very timid large dog. Dr. Shilton is amazing and always takes things slow with her. With any test results he takes the time to personally call and review results. The clinic prices are very fair as well in my opinion as well. I definitely recommend Whitemud Crossing Animal Hospital.

Recommend not visiting this location if you value customer service. I had a extremely rude receptionist and asked to not deal with her anymore, if I was able able to speak with another receptionist very politely. I then encountered extreme rudeness from their whole front end team. I had been taking my dog here for 4 years and then took both my dogs recently. It is really sad that they developed a good relationship with Dr. Shilton only for front end staff to treat customers this way. I will be looking for a new clinic as the ladies at the front are extremely rude. There is also no complaint process that they will give to address any of this. The receptionist told me they are all managers. No follow-up or anything. I called today to ask a question about a prescription that was given to my dog by there vet and the front staff said there was a note on my account that I was unhappy with the service and told me ‘if I’m unhappy with the service, I need to find somewhere else to go’. They wouldn’t even book me a appointment to speak with the vet about a prescription they gave. Extremely unprofessional.

If I could give zero stars, I would. One star is too generous for what they put our family through. We have a 10 year old Havanese dog who started sneezing about 2 weeks ago. We just moved to this area 1.5 years ago and needed a new vet. We have used this vet once before who was referred to us by my in laws so we decided we wanted to get our dog checked out for the sneezing, which we were pretty sure was caused by allergies but we wanted to be on the safe side and get her checked out. The vet looked over our dog and advised us that she had a sinus infection and dental disease. He prescribed 10 days of antibiotics and advised us she would need to have surgery to remove the K9’s to stop the infection in her sinus and he also advised us that we would need to pull some of her other teeth because she does have some rotten teeth. He gave us a price range of 1400.00 - 1900.00. We came home and discussed the price and options. We know havanese usually live for 12-15 years so I decided to call the vet with some follow up questions. When I called him he advised me that even after the surgery there could still be a chance that the infection could spread to her organs. We have spent money to have surgeries on other pets in the past, which ended up with those pets succumbing to their injuries/diseases. We thought long and hard and made the decision to have our dog put down due to costs and age. We let our 8 year old son know as well which was very difficult. I called back to set up an appointment to have our dog euthanized, which the secretary/assistant was very empathetic and sympathetic but the vet called me back about 45 minutes after we booked the appointment to put our dog down. He told me that he could find someone who could adopt our dog, pay for the surgery and then our dog would live with this new family to live out the rest of her life. To me, this was extremely unethical and very unprofessional. It seemed to me this vet was more concerned about doing the surgery and having money in his pocket, then the well being and quality of life our dog would have. The cost of the surgery was never an issue to us and if we felt it would prolong her life without any other complications coming from the surgery, we would have paid for it, no questions asked. To call me and say he would find someone who could pay for the surgery and then keep our dog is absolutely appalling to us and didn’t seem right. As soon as we hung up the phone we decided we were going to get a second opinion. We spent a day talking to family and friends and got recommended to another vet. We took her in and the new vet looked our dog over and told us that the sneezing was in fact from allergies. I asked her how she knew it wasn’t a sinus infection and she told me that there was no discharge from her nose or from any of the teeth. In regards to the teeth, she didn’t think they were infected or had dental disease but she couldn’t be 100% sure without doing X-rays. She advised that our dog did have very bad gingivitis and that the only recommendation she had was to have the gums cleaned, do blood work and x rays. It’s been a week since we took our dog to the other vet and the sneezing has completely stopped. She is not in any pain and there is still no discharge. We will NEVER bring any of our pets back to this vet as I personally believe he was only wanting to do a surgery to put money in his pocket/business and when we decided not to do the surgery, he wanted to find someone who would pay him to do the surgery at the expense of us giving our dog away to another family who could ‘afford it’. You almost pushed us to kill our dog!! Hope you sleep good at night. Will never recommend you to anyone else. Wouldn’t wish this on anyone with pets. Disgusting experience with this vet.

Dr Shilton not only took advantage of seniors for a money grab, he also hung up on them when they were discussing their unhappiness with their vet visit a week ago. The family pup has not been doing well the past few weeks, dropped significant weight. It doesn't take a vet license to see that this family pet didn't have long to live. Instead of advising otherwise, he went on with charging them for unnecessary shots. So the vet bill was 200. And now have to spend another 400 to put the pet down a week after their vet visit. I have called the vet and left a message and have yet to hear back. Great ethics.

The fees were reasonable and I felt very confident in the diagnosis and outcome. The clinic went out of its way to fit us in. If I lived in Edmonton this would be my full time vet. Took my dog in for some blood tests. The doc didn't know how to deal with pitbulls. He got in her face and jammed a stethoscope in her face. She reacted and he said he would sedate and muzzle her. Why. Because she is nervous and reacted at something basic idiots know to avoid. She's great with every other vet. Won't be returning or recommending ever again. What a joke

This Whitemud Crossing Animal Hospital is like no other. They worked with our family to offer fair pricing so my cat could have dental surgery. Other vets had provided quotes that were as much as three time what Whitemud charged us, for the same surgery. Whitemud Animal hospital staff provided thorough and courteous responses to our initial phone call. Our questions were answered without any pressure to "come in and have the cat examined". My daughter went in for the initial visit, and she was treated with such respect. They reviewed all the steps involved for the surgery, and provided her with a written copy of the estimate. The doctor ended up having to remove two teeth instead of just one, and did not charge us extra for the second extraction. I can't say enough how compassionate, courteous and professional our experience was. I 100% recommend their services for anyone who loves their animal and wants to offer them responsible care, without having to break their budget. Thank you to the whole team.
