Dr.Marty and his whole team made me feel extremely comfortable and they really care about your concerns and your pets health and wellbeing. Even the vet owner called to check on an injury my cat gave me while we were there (my oldest cat does not like the vet at all, so he lashed out and bit my thumb while we were trying to get his nails cut). You know those Vet's that want to do unnecessary surgery in order to drain your wallet? This is one of those places. I used to have great experience with Dr Lobo here but when new young vet moved in she wanted to do surgery that other vets warned me against. Also began calling and harassing me at home and said if you don't love your animal maybe you should give them up to someone else who can do the surgery. Finally after ignoring harassing calls I received a visit from Calgary Humane Society and I showed them he was in good health. I am finding a new Vet and I recommend you avoid this place like Ebola.

We absolutly love our Vet Dr.Marty and his staff. We cannot say enough great things about this clinic. They are always quick to get my 3 dogs in if need be and available for any questions and concerns that we have. The Vet is very comprehensive in his examination and we never feel rushed or as though he pushing us to spend money. Exceptional compassion and serviceExceptional compassion and service In the past 10 years, we've been to this vet clinic a handful of times - typically for simple check-ups. Attentive service as one would expect. However, the level of compassion and service we received last week when we came in to euthanize our family's cat, Holly, exceeded expectations. (note to the reader: this was a scheduled visit, not a random walk-in... that would be weird). Dr Marty was exceptionally thoughtful and articulate when explaining the process of euthanasia to my family - which included our 12-year-old daughter (it was ultimately her cat). Today, we received a handwritten note in the mail expressing heartfelt condolences, written and signed by Dr Marty himself, and signed by his staff. How kind, how thoughtful. Thank you so much, Dr Marty and team. Your care and attention given to our family, and Holly was greatly appreciated.

Today was my first time at VCA Canada McKenzie Towne. It was a great experience! The front office staff were friendly and welcoming. Preliminaries were performed without fuss or delay in a very efficient manner. Dr Erin Denny made me, and more importantly my dog feel comfortable and cared for. There was no rush as Dr Denny made a detailed and thorough examination of my pooch both to check general health and as a preliminary to addressing my pooch's issue. Dr Denny was friendly, informative, professional and had a fantastic "bedside manner" keeping my pooch engaged and interested. I am a dog walker/pet sitter and, as such, I probably have visited more than my fair share of vets. Dr Denny's approach was a refreshing and welcome change, with an obvious passion and enthusiasm for her craft. All options were clearly explained and at no time did I feel that Dr Denny was looking to make sales as opposed to solve problems...a very much appreciated approach. It's very comforting when you find a person that you know you can trust. I do not hesitate in recommending Dr Denny for a consultation.

You rarely find an exceptional clinic like McKenzie Town. Not only are the vets all tops in their field ESPECIALLY DR. MARTY!!!!! The staff remembers your name and your pets names. All three of my Yorkie do not get the shakes or anything. They all trot in with their tails wagging excited to see everyone. Dr. Marty has put down on of my old sick dogs and the whole clinic was so sympathetic. I have tried other clinics but I will keep driving 45 minutes to see Dr. Marty!

Dr. Marty is the best vet I have ever dealt with. Not only does he truly care about his patients (pets) but he always gives us options which we love. Some other vets rush to tests, medication etc. all adding up to a lot of money. Dr. Marty always has at least 2-3 options for us to pick from or suggest for care. Our dog recently had to have emergency back surgery at CARE and he set everything up for us to get in right away. He and his staff have personally called us about 3 times now to ask for follow ups to see how he's recovering. Such an amazing place. PLEASE DON'T EVER RETIRE MARTY!! I don't think we'd ever find such a great place to take our pets than this clinic!

I am extremely upset with this clinic. My dog has a long history of constipation issues and once in a while it's required a 'manual' clean up. After being loyal and going to this clinic for many years, today I was told 'we are fully booked for tomorrow and the vet cannot see your dog' (even after I explained that today is the 3rd day of intense 'trying' and he cannot wait until next week for the next available appointment). In this case, I was told to take him to the Care Centre (animal hospital).

Very good care and follow up. I've been a customer for a while, but I've called needing medical advice twice now, and gotten a personal phone call from the Vet within half an hour, to get the details and let me know if my dog needed medical care or not. No charge, just great service. My dog was also very sick in emergency one time, and when they sent his chart to my vet at Horizon, Dr Lovo called me at home the next day, unsolicited, to make sure everything was going well and my dog was improving. The receptionist is also very helpful and submits everything you need for insurance directly to the company for you. Huge time and headache saver! Can't recommend Horizon enough.

Dr. Marty and the staff at McKenzie Towne Animal Clinic are incredible. We have three dogs - one of which is almost nine, diabetic and has a thyroid condition, so he's pretty famous there! That being said, despite our every visit involving poking of some kind, Baxter always loves going back to see everyone. Dr. Marty is always available to give advice over the phone and genuinely cares about his patients and their owners. Even if we moved across town, we would keep coming here. The prices are reasonable and the service is exceptional!

I had been taking my 18 year old cat, Buddy to see Dr. Marty since I moved to Calgary in August 2013. I started going to this clinic, because when I was phoning around for a new Vet, I had the wonderful experience of speaking with Amanda. She made me feel comfortable & assured me that Buddy would get the best of care. Unfortunately, Buddy had a stroke last month & there was nothing more that could be done for him as he lost the use of his back legs. Needless to say, I was devastated as Buddy had been a major part of my life for 17 years. Dr. Marty was so kind & compassionate & sent Buddy on his journey with such feeling & gentleness. I will never forget how kind he was. I have just rescued a little girl kitten named Precious & she already has her first appointment booked with Dr. Marty. I wouldn't take her any where else. McKenzieTown animal clinic has been our vet clinic for years and love them there, I am always happy with the care they provide but wanted to give a big shout out this time for going above and beyond. We took my daughters hamster in on Friday as she was very sick and suffering and we were leaving for the weekend so had to take the hamster in to have it euthanized and cremated and yes most wouldn't do this nor would I but this circumstance I had too. They gave her the time in the room to cuddle Milkshake before they took her as she was devastated about this so it was really nice. That was Friday and today in the mail we received a beautiful card with a really nice message and little footprints for her as well. This was really thoughtful and is such a nice keepsake for my daughter, just wanted the clinic to know how much it was appreciated. Thank you so much for the wonderful job you all do.

My dog has been a patient at the clinic for 12 years. Since VCA took over the clinic from a vet I have noticed an increasing level of fees and sometimes advice that is contrary to the best interest of the owners. Today I received a phone message informing me that they wished payment for a fecal test. I called back and said I would pay for the test once they provided the results of the test to me. I was told that the results would be sent and then our interaction was interrupted as another customer had arrived. 2 hours later, no test result had arrived as promised but another person called and requested payment. I said I would pay once someone shared the result of the test. At that point I expressed dis-satisfaction with the process. I was told the test couldn't be sent to me but a vet would call me. I held firm and said that once the result was shared I would pay. The test was on dropped off on Friday and it is Tuesday so this is hardly overdue. 2 hours later they sent me an invoice from a do-not-reply email address. I am actually feeling very angry still at this kind of behavior. Unprofessional, and disrespectful. Considering just not going there anymore. BEWARE. No respect for owners at all.

Extremely disappointed with the front desk service during our visit. They were unfriendly and lazy!!!! We were asking questions about our VCA careplan. We pay almost $100 a month, of course we want to use up all the remaining service that we can use. They were unapproachable to begin with. They didn't even say Hi when we came in. They didn't acknowledge us at all. And the way they answered our questions, they were very condescending. Instead of educating us about what we can do, they made it seem like we were burdening them with our concerns and just by being there. They didn't really answer our questions, it's like they were already expecting us to know what to do. All the vets that we had in this clinic in the past were amazing. But oh my god, the two receptionists during our visit on the afternoon of December 14, 2021 were extremely rude and made us feel uncomfortable. We didn't get the support/ service that we need for what it's worth.

My 13 year old dog Copper was sick and I had to make the decision to get Copper euthanized.. was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. Everyone at this clinic was supportive and the Doctor explained the procedure clearly to me and assured me of everything that would happen. He was very experienced and very calming. I would recommend this vet 100 percent and will be using them in the future!

I will never say anything other than we had outstanding care at this clinic for many years! What did change for us was the vibe of the clinic when it amalgamated with VAC Canada. Different staff moving through the clinic all the time, some vets not even introducing themselves (I had to ask them their names) and everyone was in such a rush. Dr. Marty will always be the high standard to which I will hold all other vet's to. We are just simple, rural folk and we loved this clinic because it once had such a small town feel but that is no longer the case. There are truly no words for the experience we had with Dr. Cormack. A person with her demeanour and lack of compassion should not work with people or animals. We brought our dog in to be assessed for a mass. Dr. Cormack was comfortable treating it palliatively. Without seeing our dog again, she insisted our dog was experiencing too much pain. She requested us to come by for a recheck. Her request was made through a text message service. Fast forward a few weeks and Dr. Cormack demands we come in for a recheck or she is going to file a complaint with the Calgary Humane Society on us. We bring our dog in. She barely looks at our dog and makes a judgement call - surgery or euthanasia. Upon this, my husband walked out of the appointment, appalled by her approach. I followed up with a phone call and Dr. Cormack demonstrated a level of unprofessionalism and lack of compassion that I cannot even explain. She proceeded to give me the same options - surgery or euthanasia. We had a week to decide or she would be calling CHS. We called around to get in for a second opinion and were able to secure an appointment with a non-VCA clinic the next day. Not even 24 hrs after our recheck appointment with Dr. Cormack, I received a call from CHS that she filed a complaint against us for “neglecting our pet and not providing adequate care” I explained my side of the story to the peace officer. She understood my confusion with Dr. Cormack’s approach and directive. The second opinion we received was a completely different approach. The vet we saw was kind, compassionate and took the time to examine our dog in detail. The vet saw our dog had a good quality of life, yes she has cancer but she is happy, eating, playing and not showing signs of pain. She has discomfort but not pain. The vet was willing to continue to treat our dog palliatively until her quality of life began to diminish. We have been patients of McKenzie Towne Animal Clinic since 2012. However since they moved over to being a VCA clinic, they have become horrible. Upon sharing our recent experience, we have heard from MANY people that VCA is full of money grab attempts, and threats. I will never return to a VCA clinic nor will I recommend a VCA clinic to anyone. I would especially steer clear of Dr. Cormack. She has no place in animal medicine.

Dr. Justine Williams is such a wonderful vet. Not only are the staff kind, the clinic is very clean and both my pup and I felt very comfortable and confident in the care of Dr. Williams. I am so thankful for people like her, she obviously loves animals. I highly recommend this place as well as Dr. Williams.

The veterinarians here are awesome. They have a true love for animals. They are very considerate of our feelings too. They make sure you understand exactly what they are telling you. Highly recommend these doctors.
