Friendly staff, great doctors, genuine care for the animals. Both myself and my animals have always been treated with consideration, humour when appropriate, compassion when appropriate, and all around decency. The only issue I have, which to be fair is the case for all city vets of which I'm aware, is that the pricing is quite a bit higher than what you would find with most country/small town vets. That said, pricing wise, they are right on par with other city vets (definitely lower than downtown vets, though!) but with the added perks of their friendliness and care.

The Vet was friendly but they clearly were more worried about selling x-rays and blood work than my pet's well being. Will not ever take any of my pets there again. :(

WOW, most terrible customer service ever. I called ahead and ordered a bag of dog food from them because the price they quoted me was $83 + GST. When I got there to pick it up I was charged $89.59 + GST. When I questioned the price, the lady said "oh, sorry, no idea where the mistake happened". I said that this is very disappointing, most businesses honor their quotes and that I won't be buying from them again. I got no response, she stopped talking to me. When she handed me my change, she missed my hand and several coins landed on the floor. Not a word, not even an apology for dumping my change on the floor. How they manage to stay in business with such poor staff and business practices is beyond my comprehension. This was the first and last time I ever went to this vet clinic. What an incredibly disappointing experience.

Generally good experiences with some of the actual Veterinarians, but some of the front end staff are unhelpful to the point of crazy-making (strongly urge businesses not to hire people in clinics - of any kind - as their first job). Our dog had surgery here in 2018 (Varsity location, that has now relocated to Dalhousie) and the follow-up from the front end staff and between the two Vets involved was a complete schmozzle (everything from failing to book appointments, errors in documentation, pretty sure our dog's information was mixed up another dog). Ultimately, we were so frustrated with booking the stitch removal that we contacted their head office and were put in touch with another clinic to have his stitches removed, after receiving a long-awaited apology for all the service related nonsense that was totally avoidable. As a side note, the Vet that we did get to encounter at the new clinic was wonderful. So, I wouldn't rule out VCA, but beware that there are some staff issues. Also, for products, beware that VCA's margins are high. If if you shop around, for things such as dog food time you can find lower prices in many local vet clinics.

recently booked an appointment to have my 17 year old cat euthanized after careful consideration with all family members it was decided that it would be best for her. arrived at appointment and was informed that the vet would do an exam first since my cat had not been seen for quite some time. i was agreeable to same. The Vet then asked about symptoms my cat was having and thought perhaps her condition was treatable, and that many cats live till they are 22. I had already made the heart wrenching decision to euthanize my cat, she was going deaf,blind,had a huge lump on the side of her head and could only eat small amounts of chicken and salmon and would throw up all other cat food,she was constantly hungry and meowing all the time. I reminded the vet that treatment was not my intent. She then agreed to euthanize .She gave pre sedation to make my girl groggy and and she was becoming groggy i picked her up to cradle her.She was sedate in my arms and the office attendant came in with the interact machine for me to pay. I could hardly reach my purse and was fumbling for my wallet and she asked if she could help..i was gobsmacked at the insensitivity. Following my cats death i was offered time in the room. once the staff left i picked her up and held her, and not more that what seemed 5 minutes had passed and a head poked in saying Oh do you need more time? oh brother! Finally I was leaving and The vet had the nerve to say to my"these are always hard decisions" I felt like saying..and you mace it no easier! My cat was treated well, but I was not..I am a hospice nurse and was upset with the lack of human compassion and sympathy.

Have been going to this clinic for 20 years or so. Dr. Prince is amazing. The staff is so caring and accommodating and truly care about your fur babies. Recently saw a new Dr when I needed to bring in my cat for a quick look and she too was fabulous. Thanks for all the years MacEwan!

Dr. Theresa and her team are always there for my Charlie. She had patience with me to keep trying to work on Charlie's skin issues and she has never given up on finding better solutions for him. No dog loves a vet, but my boy's tail always wags when they see him. I would recommend them.

We have been taking our pets to this veterinary hospital for a few years. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, and we have always been happy with the level of care they provide our pets.

My dog is getting older, and I am well aware of dental issues that he has. I have had mobile dental services treat my dog in the past , however she is no longer in business, so it has not been done in some time. His teeth have continued to be an issue, among other age related issues. I received a quote months ago from this clinic that was more than I would pay for my own teeth. On further review of the quote, there is a box where they want you to authorize further costs, if needed, and supply a $ amount (as if the original amount wasn't enough). On a recent visit, I was told I was bordering on neglect if I didn't do the treatment, however no other options were given. If they truly had the pet's best interest in mind, they would offer cost effective options, or reduce their prices to accommodate, instead of shaming the pet owner, who is already dealing with the reality of an aging dog. We decided to go elsewhere to seek treatment, and was surprised to find that clinics outside of the city offer the same services for less than half the price. I was not shamed for my reasoning behind not getting it done sooner, they were very supportive of my pets needs, as well as my wallet. VCA is definitely gauging the customer. We will not be back to this clinic.
