You will be able to see the information of real people like you who purchase the products and services of VCA Canada Calgary Trail Animal Hospital (Veterinarian) in Alberta (Canada).
Right now the firm receives a score of 4.6 stars out of 5 and this rating was based on 127 reviews.
You must have seen that its rating is basically the best one, and it is founded on a high number of reviews, so we can be pretty sure that the evaluation is quite accurate. If people have bothered to value when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to write reviews when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Veterinarian is included in the category of Veterinarian.
I have never stepped inside this business, but it is a great place to bring your pets for medical needs.
The vets here are awesome !!
The staff there are thorough and patient. They have done so much to care for my animals over the years and I am thankful.
After years of searching for that special doctor for my pets, I've finally found her. Dr. Kathy Chappell has become part of my family and loved by my pets. Her compassion knows no bounds and I don't know what I would have done without her. The staff at this hospital has always been incredibly patient and kind with my pets for any procedure they've needed to perform. Just the best place to take your fur family.
Even making the appointment was frustrating. Over priced, sat down with the doctor, reviewing the invoice with lots of unnecessary charges and tests. Called for a 2nd opinion got exactly what I needed from general Vet hospital along with exceptional service from professionals that know exactly what the issue with no BS charges no suggested testing at LESS THEN HALF THE PRICE!
My little Hedgie Lestat and my kitten Hades both loooove Dr Van Boxtel!! Can be pricey here, but the care is always top notch and I don't have many options for exotic pet vets so I don't mind
Staff are second to none. Great people, really great vets. We have been clients for 10 years. Only reason for 4 stars is that now they are part of vca they are insurance churners. Bring your wallet if you don't have pet insurance.
Amazing staff and Vets for reptiles . Quickly saw my bearded dragon the other day . Thanks again!
In the last 3 years, I have acquired 2 cats and a Great Dane into my family. They are all really healthy animals but sometimes they have their problems. We had some allergy issues with our first cat which Dr. Fredlund took care of. When we started having stomach problems with our second cat, she also found out what was going on and resolved that. And recently our Great Dane has had some health issues and we have brought him in for that, and they take such good care of him. There is clear communication at all times. They give you forms to fill out that can't be misinterpreted. My animals are my family. Money is no object. I have seen here in a review that they had a problem with the billing. This vet clinic is top of the line for care. They all genuinely care about your pets. I have heard horror stories from other vet clinics. Not saying they are all bad, but if you want a good one, a trustworthy one, a compassionate one... these are the people you want to take them to. From Britney in Reception, to Ashley in the back and Dr. Fredlund and all the other staff, you honestly couldn't ask for better care!
Wouldn't take my beloved pets anywhere else ♡
My favourite vet place. I have a lot of trust in my vet Dr. Kosolofski and staff. I highly recommend her. She is super patient, kind and professional. She takes good care of my girl Doodle every time we come there. And reception just adores her. There is lots of care in this place. I also used to have a bunny named Ginger who had past away a couple years ago and they did a very professional job in handling it. Had good services a little bit pricy but really worth it for the little guy.
Dr. VanBoxtel is the best vet!! Very caring and trustworthy! I would recommend this place but their prices are a little on the higher side.
Dr Fredlund is the best and so caring!
I liked this vet. Very modern and spacious. The staff are very friendly but it seems to be a busy vet so you may have to wait a bit. But the give a pretty thorough service so it is entirely worth it. Prices are pretty similar to other vets. And they carry a large selection of food and treats, as well as high quality toys as well. Great vet.
Wonderful staff and service
Love the place and the people working there. We have been going there for seven years now... my pets get anxious and the doctors and the vet technicians help them to keep their anxiety at bay
The staff here are SO kind, all the receptionists, vet techs, and the Dr I saw (Dr. Ogle) are the most pleasant people. They all genuinely care about your animals and truly do their best to help. Prices are reasonable. Definitely check them out.
I would like to send out a big thank you to Dr. VanBoxtel thank you for going above and beyond today with Liam. I very much appreciated the help with getting him back in the kennel today and continuing the exam even though I should have called ahead and got some sedative beforehand. I was pretty anxious the whole time, I think animals in general sense that. I very much appreciated the service today, thank you so so much!
In this place they take care of my cat, they have very good service, very efficient and a payment plan suitable for each individual.
Best I have ever been to. Took great care of my dog when she had canacer. They know what they are doing.
Of the very best animal care hospitals around!
Took our bird in on such short notice and actually LOOKED her over rather then saying she was fine. I had went to 2 vets within Edmonton and both wouldnt even really look at my bird. They lofted her wings and said "shes okay" But VCA vet hospital not only TOOK her in but they EXAMINED her thoroughly. They listened to her heart beating, they used the microscope for her eyes. Lifted her wings, swabbed her beak ect... and came back with a flu like for birds.. THAT COULD KILL HER. where other vets couldnt give a rat's a$$ These ladies here immediately went into action but taking blood, getting her set up and on some meds. Not only did they do an amazing job in such a shirt period of time, but they also checked in on us.. by giving US a call to see how she was!!! Such a great loving vet hospital that I truly recommend.
My dog loves coming here to visit his girlfriends (the techs), being loved on and getting spoiled.
Great staff and doctors
The staff are very helpful here. We have never had any issues. They treat our cat like it's one of there own.
We always have a positive experience. Friendly staff and our pups loven them... well one more than the other haha.
The staff is always ever so pleasant and they treat us and our dog with respect.
Very friendly staff. Building is easy to get to and clean. I've only had good experiences in the last 4-5 years.
I bring my cat and my two ferrets to this place. I've been really happy by the care provided. Dr Chappell is very knowledgeable about ferrets and the staff is always very friendly. I recommend this hospital. I give 4 stars though because a previous vet at the facility didn't see an important issue with one of my ferret.
I go here because they take rabbits, and I had heard good things. I never have to worry that my rabbit won't be in good hands at this hospital. Dr Chapel is lovely and knowledgable. I would recommend anyone with an exotic or non exotic animal to go here.
I go here to get last minute pet chow. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Knowledgeable and willing to help!
We always feel welcome and well taken care of here by all staff from receptionists to vets. They are genuinely interested and caring towards us and our pet. Would recommend.
I have never had anything but amazing service at the Calgary Trail Pet Hospital. All of the vets know their stuff, and the staff are all friendly and incredibly helpful. I tell all my friends that they must take their animals to this clinic!
Usually went there annual for my cats needs healthy my cat really enjoying see the friendly nurse staff went there for almost 7 years recommend it I wouldn't go anywhere either in Fort Saskatchewan Alberta vet too costly much either dogs. I don't mind go Southside of Edmonton Alberta.
Great place to take your pets and they are so helpful!
Friendly staff! They are fantastic with my dogs, and always inquire about them when I stop by for medication refills etc.
They are amazing. They really care about your pet and take time to answer all of your questions.
Beautiful clinic, with wonderful staff always greet you when you walk in and helpful and friendly. Loved taking my kitty here for neutering, made sure I felt comfortable with procedure and even sent photos upon recovery from surgery to me! Wonderful staff and vet clinic!
Brought in a new puppy today, and they were great in getting my shy puppy to feel comfortable and have a good experience with visiting the vet.
Brought in a new puppy today, and they were great in getting my shy puppy to feel comfortable and have a good experience with visiting the vet.
Calgary Trail Pet Hospital is the best. Each vet takes their time and answers all my questions.
We have been going to this clinic since it was next to Petsmart. The front counter staff are out of this world...so friendly and always love to see the animals. The doctors and techs are the same so gentle and have a genuine care and love for all the patients. The office is large and always clean. I would say this is the best vet office in Edmonton and if you are thinking of taking your pets here...you will not be disappointed.
We were long term clients of this clinic before it came under the VCA (American) umbrella. We hadn't dealt with them since we had our dog spayed in 2014. We were about to add two new female dogs to our household and phoned to get a quote on having them spayed. We were shocked to find that their prices have more than doubled. This may be the influence of the American business profit model but it pays to shop around. We did.
Was just quoted DOUBLE from a previous surgery. My cat had 3 teeth extractions 2.5 years ago at another Edmonton Vet clinic, totalling just under $900 for dental exam, blood analysis, IV fluids, anesthesia, teeth removal, nail clippings, etc. Upon receiving a recommendation to inquire at VCA - their quote was over $1700! ???????????? I recognize clinics will have varying degrees of price points, but this cost differential is absolutely EGREGIOUS!!! #shocking #cashgrab
Very kind staff, always treated our pets well
Wouldn't go anywhere else. The entire team has been warm and welcoming to me and my fur family. I've had the chance to meet just about everyone at this point, and I have no complaints. Office is always clean, wait times are reasonable, though its been rare to have to wait at all. You can tell they all care about the animals that they see, but also show care and attention to us humans. Well done CTPH! :-D
I have never stepped inside this business, but it is a great place to bring your pets for medical needs.
Expensive...
Excellent service,Great Doctor had no problem handling my macaw. Reasonable prices also.
Very friendly, they remember you and your pets everytime you come in.
Clean facility. Everyone is helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!
Great place great staff the animals in there care are well taken care of.
Vet was really good. We have to get special food for our kitty, we always get it here.
The staff here are amazing! I love how clean and spacious it is here.
Friendly and loves your animals like they were their own. Also huge selection of food, both Rx and just high quality.
They are super human beings first off, very caring and very knowledgeable. I have brought 2 animals there for many services and I am very impressed. Sadly I had to let an animal go and they have so much compassion and understanding.
Sammy our guinea pig was very sick with his back teeth causing problems. The vet was very gentle and helpful and now Sammy is fit and well and back to his usual self. Thank you!
Fantastic. Highly recommend. Skilled, caring, and professional staff that treat your pets like family.
They overcharge for almost all procedures, phone around before you decide to get anything done or even a check up. Unreliable and even canceled an appointment on my even though my dog needed care, no clear answers on what was wrong with my dog only price tags, not worth your time or money.
I have been taking my dog there ever since I brought him home and I will never go anywhere else. They are all very friendly, the place is always kept clean and I trust them to take care of my dog.
Everyone's always super professional and the Vets are great but I constantly feel like I'm being pushed for sales
Fantastic, such good care. Even given the docs personal cell phone in case of after hours emergency
I brought my cat in to them today and I had a wonderful experience! I feared my cat had a urinary blockage, which is a very costly emergency, and they were very kind on the phone while I figured out if I was going to bring him in. When I got there, the staff were all so friendly, helpful, and helped me out so much with a bag of sample urinary food and donation pain medication that I didn't have to pay for. Their clinic isn't close to my apartment, but it was 100% worth the drive! I would strongly recommend them!
My skinny pigs needed some care, Boss Hogg, Rico and Sauve... I found a vet that was exceptional! The ladies at the front got me in ASAP and I received a warm welcome and quick check in when I got there, the care from the Dr. put my mind at ease. I was hesitant on bringing 3 pigs in but as it turned out the care and the cost will keep me coming back. I give my 5 star approval on my first visit to this office! Lisa
Everyone here is super nice. They are all friendly, caring and attentive. Our vet is always thorough and compassionate and always follows up to see how our pet is doing. I never feel rushed here, they always have time for us.
I had a hedgehog named Murphy. A couple months ago I had to put him down because he had a tumor. The vet I took him to sent me a card with his little paw prints in it and today I got a card in the mail saying that they made a donation to the Edmonton Humane Society in his name. This clinic went above and beyond when it came to his care. If you have a cat, dog or exotic animal, take them to VCA animal clinic on Calgary Trail. They are absolutely amazing and I have to thank them for all that they did.
Sweet place, they take really good care of my dog for me he's a big dog at almost 13 now
Sweet place, they take really good care of my dog for me he's a big dog at almost 13 now
Really wonderful vets. I've seen three here and each person was lovely in their own way. Even when getting bad news or on bad days the experience was always made better by the people who worked here. Thank you for helping my senior dog pass peacefully. My vet even gave her a big hug on her way out.❤️
Very nice staff and they all seem to really love animals
This clinic has to be one of the most efficient, friendly, caring facilities in the city. Our pets love coming here and the doctors and techs are amazing!
Hi all today was a day of first for Lily my cat and my self . I want to say thank you for a great experience . Lily playing with her new toy thank you Sheri Trumbley
They are amazing! They helped me through loved my much loved pet, and I received very kind cards from them. Now that I've decided to have another fur baby, they were my first choice for check up's!
Outstanding team! Professional, caring and everything you could want in a medical team
I brought in my 14 week chihuahua puppy when she had an ear problem, I could not be happier with how we were treated by the staff and the vet. A few days later my little girl is causing all sorts of trouble again I would highly recommend anyone taking their pets here
I am extremely happy with the care my rabbit received here. He had a case of GI stasis and they were able to see him right away! Dr. Van Boxtel really knows her stuff! The staff are warm and welcoming and they really helped me out with my rabbits urgent care. I highly recommend.
Staff forgot vital notes to give our pet antihistamines before shots. We were encouraged to upgrade our pet insurance to $127/month to help pay for a procedure that after paying for 5 months they ended up not being able to do the procedure, costing us excessive and unnecessary fees. I would avoid this particular location.
I respect the clinic but they charge me to much. Because only I know that our bill is around 2300 to 2500 and that was fixed already and when time we took the bills I'm shock because our bill is going up to 2800. I dont know what's going on there but I just want to say that dont charge to much your costumers, please. Don't give us options, just give us the best option for our pets. And you know what? You guys are over priced.
Ok so I think I have been officially priced out of going to this clinic. A standard teeth cleaning for my dog now starts at $1500+ and I regularly have her teeth cleaned. I respect the clinics that purposely charge less for this service or have dental month promotions to offset costs for pet owners so it can be done once a year. But who can afford to have it done yearly at that price?! I have felt for a while that they gauge clients, and this was proven when I took my dog to another vet for a teeth cleaning, including extractions, x-rays, meds and it was A THIRD OF THE PRICE of their quote for the exact same service. My pet had very good care and I was happy with how it was done. I have been a long-time client at this clinic since 2005 but I just can't afford their exorbitant prices anymore. I feel they overcharge considerably compared to other vets. I have heard that they are now owned by a chain that is notorious for their expensive fees so I anticipate the overcharging will only get worse and Vet tech did mention that their prices go up every year as per some standard vet association pricing scheme. I'm out!
The staff here are amazing! I love how clean and spacious it is here.
I appreciate the attention of the staff the doctors in the hospital clinic, a super great team of professionals. especially from doctor magi for her patience with my viki pet I recommend 100% that you go to that hospital
Double the cost to get your pets neutered and require a checkup before hand which is the most costly I've seen from any other place. The checkup is to find out if they're a male or female and check their temperature? Horrible scam artists disgusting excuses for humans. Look around elsewhere these people will take every last penny you have I guarantee it.
Best care for your furry family members. Dr. Ogle is amazing
The staff and the doctors at this location really care for your pets. I would recommend this veterinary clinic
Great VETS , Great TECHS, and Great RECEPTIONISTS.The care for my Cat (PHOTO INCLUDED) always EXCEEDS MY EXPECTATIONS . The value for your money is excellent. 10/10 would Recommend this clinic to anybody I know.
Amazing vets, amazing staff, had a very sick cat in distress, Rufus, & they would check in with us on a daily basis , they were only 1 call away for any help we needed, very organized, prompt & highly trained in Feline health issues. Rufus wasn't the most cooperative patient but they had no problem in working with him thru his illness & helped us to help him every step of the way. We never felt alone as this was a very stressful situation for the entire family. They provided us with training to administer his IV , pills & his feeding method. We are absolutely convinced that they saved Rufus's life and we have now found our forever vet, THANK YOU!!!
Great staff!
Visit was great, staff very professional. Dr Shetfield, I'd highly recommend
VCA calgary trail is so amazing, the front lady named Sam is always so helpful and friendly. She treats us and our animals like family, reason we keep coming back. Thanks VCA and Sam
Over the past 15 years, I have been bringing my dog to the Calgary Trail animal hospital. Up until now, my experience has been positive. Unfortunately, my recent visit to VCA has left me feeling very mislead about the services that were pushed onto me unnecessarily. I received several emails reminding me that my dog had an upcoming appointment. I called the office and had a discussion with the receptionist, stating that I only wanted to bring my dog in if he was due for shots that were absolutely needed, not optional. Due to COVID-19 financial circumstances, I was not interested in optional shots for my dog. Furthermore, I had no concerns about my dog's current state of health, so going in for a routine check-up that costs over $100 was not an absolute necessity at this time. I was reassured that this upcoming appointment was necessary for my dog and that there were some shots that needed to be updated. As a result, I went in for my appointment. During the exam, the vet reviewed the records on the computer and asked me if I wanted any of the shots she indicated. Again, I asked if these were mandatory and she said no. Due to finances, I opted out just as I had explained initially. After the vet completed the basic check-up, I was told I had to pay the full cost of the bill, despite not having any of the vaccines done. I am very disappointed in the fact that I was mislead and that there was a lack of honesty with billing. Additionally, I had a difficult time dealing with the staff about my concerns as clearly they were not addressed. Again, I would not have taken my dog in for the appointment in the first place, as I had no concerns. Therefore, I have decided to take my business elsewhere as I am not interested in dealing with VCA's untrustworthy services. A word of caution to (potential) clients of VCA: please be sure to ask questions before you get any services done - you could end up with a bill that you weren't expecting!
I am posting pictures of my estimated costs for treatment on Yelp!. I'll leave it up to your judgement to decide what is fair in this scenario... I'm not intending to malign with this review, simply asking that you please consider the other options before you spend too much money here for the same result. My cat wasn't eating or drinking - and it turned out she had pancreatitis. CTPH gets one extra star because they recommended the right medication to heal my cat. When I brought my cat in and she was diagnosed, they presented me with the first bill (900$+). I then broke down in tears because I'm a server and a student, and there is no way I can afford this without going into debt...So my cat is going to die? That's basically the reaction I had. The veterinarian then said directly that if I couldn't afford veterinary fees then perhaps I should contemplate not owning animals. Then he said that he'd see what he can do about bumping the cost down. The vet returned with the second bill (380$) and again, I received the message that due to my inability to pay for all the treatments, that my cat would be getting "subpar" care (vet's words). Implicit in this statement is that, because I'm low income, I cannot properly care for my cat. I left, I treated her in a "subpar" way, and guess what: she's well again and thriving. I didn't need any of that extra stuff. For example- day hospitalization. 52$... I just had to stay an extra hour while she had tests completed. Tell me again: Which option shows more care for the cat? TL;DR the CTPH are slick, which might lead you to think that paying upwards of 1000$ per visit makes you a good and caring pet owner. Almost a year later - I've been going to The Mill Creek Animal hospital for my pet's needs (two cats and two visits so far) and they have been outstanding in terms of integrity, cost, and compassion. I waited to post this negative review because I still didn't know what an honest veterinarian looked like in Edmonton. Please consider the other options before you spend too much money here for the same result. Even just call on the phone and compare prices, you'll see.
I have been going to CTPH for 17 years. I knew all the staff and they knew me. Up until about 2 years ago I had been happy. I found myself forced to LEAVE this clinic after all these years because they have changed. Since They sold out to a huge, uncaring company called VCA. They DO NOT CARE like they used to. It is now an overly busy, big box-store like clinic and you will rarely be able to get into the Doctor you want to see. There is a SERIOUS lack of communication between staff members which leads to NO FOLLOW-UP and what comes across as FAKE CONCERN in communications with clients. You will get a "how's so-and-so doing?" email and when you reply, thinking they actually want to know because they asked, you WILL NEVER get a reply leaving you to wonder if your message was ever delivered. From my direct experience THEY WILL NOT BE THERE WHEN YOU REALLY, REALLY NEED THEM. Since they have sold the practice to this big conglomerate, They only seem interested in the quick, easy, money-making stuff. Let me tell you it is NOT the optimal time to try to find a new veterinarian when your dog was as ill as mine was -- save yourself some grief and find a clinic that is willing to help you both in good and bad times....
My tiny mouse got injured, and she's so skittish and difficult to handle. They got me in for an appointment within an hour, and I was amazed at how gently and effectively the vet was able to handle her for an examination. They took great care of her, were very understanding of my budget limitations, and provided lots of follow up advice and care. I'm very impressed with the care here and would recommend them to anyone looking for a good small animal vet.
We take both our dogs and our cat to Calgary Trail...we have had nothing but positive experiences with the doctors and staff!
We love the care/love they have for our animals!
Calgary Trail Pet Hospital is such a wonderful clinic. When you walk in, the facility is clean, quiet and very spacious. The front staff know and remember each pet and seem genuinely excited to see them at each visit. We feel very fortunate to have had Dr. Neufeld take care of our very senior cat Whiskers during her last days in Oct 2014. He treated us with kindness as we had to make very difficult decisions and he was so calm and gentle with Whiskers. He gave us the time we needed with her, and needless to say, a few tears were shed when we later received a card from the Edmonton Humane Society, letting us know that that a donation had been made in Whiskers’ name by the Calgary Trail Pet Hospital. We still have 2 senior cats, Muffin and Casanova, as well as 2 new kitties, Lynx and Daisy. We continue to bring them in to see Dr. Neufeld and Dr. Chappell, who is also amazing with our little family members. You can see how much they love animals and how much they enjoy their jobs. They are able to fit us in very quickly if we have any concerns. Truly, I think my cats come home with really big egos because they are treated like they are the most handsome, beautiful and well behaved animals in the world. It feels like the staff at the Calgary Trail Pet Hospital are part of our extended family and I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a new vet.
Friendly staff
My partner and I brought our hamster, chickpea, here when she wasn't doing well. Unfortunately due to old age she had likely developed cancer and we decided a couple days later to put her to sleep. Dr. Ogle and the rest of the staff here were really great in supporting that decision, answering all our questions and making it a comfortable and gentle process for us and little chickpea. Often times people think small animals are not as important as a cat or a dog, but I've never gotten that feeling from any of the staff here. I would highly recommend Dr. Ogle to anyone looking for a great vet to take there rodents to.
This place is nothing short of fantastic, and their staff are honestly the best in the world. I always brought my guinea pig, Sir Roger Gilroy *waits a few seconds for the snickers to die down*, here for nail trims and check-ups. When he passed away a month and a half ago, they seemed so genuinely sad to hear about it over the phone, and later sent me a condolences card. Now today I just received a card from the Edmonton Humane Society informing me that the Calgary Trail Pet Hospital made a donation to EHS in honour of Sir Roger Gilroy. It honestly made me tear up! It was so incredibly touching and just another example of how they go above and beyond the call of duty with showing how much they care about the animals that are brought to them. Thank-you for everything you did for little Sir Roger! I can't wait for you to meet my new baby... Frances Peabody... she's another friendly little pig with a big personality. :)
Moved 5 years ago to this Vet and never looked back. Great customer service and wonderful with my dog
Great Vets.
I won't be back
I love this clinic. I came here a year ago with my tortoise. I have seen 2 vets with my dog, cat, tortoise and foster animals. These guys actually care about the well being of a pet over making a profit. Everyone is always smiling too. So nice to find a clinic that has an amazing exotic vet. I have never been more pleased with a clinic before. Please take your fur/scale babies here!! ????????????????????
I WAS very pleased with Calgary Trail pet hospital (5 stars), but since the change of management over to VCA it is not the same. Many of the regular staff left after the change, and I will be following one of the original vets. They treat my fur kids like family
Calgary Trail Pet Hospital is where we regularly take our furry friends for their checkups...or if something is amiss with them. I have never been to veterinary clinic as good as this one, and I had been to several before finding this one. We almost always see Dr. Fredlund but on occasion, like when our cat Nemo injured her paw, we have seen other vets. All of them are fantastic. They care, and that is evident through: how they handle your pet, how thorough they are during exams, the amount of time the vet spends with you, and their patience with owners who ask a lot of questions. Over the past several months we have been to see Dr. Fredlund several times. Our big tom cat needed dental surgery, and when we got the quote we were a little overwhelmed. We saved the money and when we arrived to pay, Dr. Fredlund came in over $275.00 below the bottom end of the quote. The surgery was done flawlessly and Jasper had no complications. As a side note, when my boy was in for the dental surgery, I was super worried about him. The staff knew this, and took the time to take a picture of my groggy guy and send it to me. I have never experienced that level of care and concern outside this clinic. We also welcomed a new kitten into our home a few months ago. Since we have had her, Nemo has been to the vet at least five times. She had some issues her spay, which was done at the Humane society, as well as a torn claw. The trouble we have had with Nemo alone could've broken our bank, but Dr. Fredlund has seen us a number of times for rechecks, which Calgary Trail Pet Hospital does for free. The clinic is always clean and the staff are friendly. They have a good variety of food and supplies that you need to take care of your four legged pals. Unlike other clinics, I never feel pressured to buy anything from them. Ultimately, we have and will always take our pets to Calgary Trail Hospital whenever they need anything. Dr. Fredlund is our preferred vet and she will take good care of any pets that you bring to her for care.
My family and I are so pleased with the staff at Calgary Trail Vet hospital. Dr. Van Boxtel and the front staff (Jen and Brittany are two that come to mind) are so incredibly welcoming, genuine, kind and caring...not to mention helpful. Just like the rest of us, I'm sure they all have good and bad days, but honestly I can never tell if it's a bad for them when we are there. They are so very professional and respectful all of the time. Dr. V and the upfront ladies genuinely love our dogs and that makes us feel safe trusting them to their care. I was actually overwhelmed when, after receiving the sad news that one of our pups passed away a few days prior, Dr. V phoned our home to sincerely convey her sadness for us. She was so genuine and her compassion so real. You just cannot fake that kind of emotion. I also greatly appreciate their honesty! No pushing for unnecessary, expensive tests or procedures. I trust them, and that is a wonderful feeling. Anyway, we feel blessed to have found Calgary Trail Vet hospital. I hope that we can be a blessing to them in return in whatever way possible.
Friendly knowledgable staff
Dr. Ogle and staff took great care of my rabbit during his first tooth trim. Very helpful and caring staff. Very informative and went above and beyond to help, even after he had gone home. Definitely recommend this clinic. His update photo was adorable too!!
Great team!
Horrible staff, horrible vets, MONEY GRABBERS. There are PLENTY OF REPUTIBLE VETS IN THE AREA. Go elsewhere if you love your pets
I will never be able to express how much i freaking love Calgary Trail Animal Hospital i take both my furbabies here, Dr Sherry Van Boxtel is amazing, the Vet Techs and everyone are always so wonderful. Besides coming here for normal questions and concerns ive had two emergencies with my cat Frank and they were willing to move around their schedule and fit him in. Most recently my cat got hit by a car, and after spending all night at another vet i called Calgary Trail Hospital as soon as they opened as they are my regular vet and were willing to do whatever it took to get my boy in within the next hour that same morning and perform his leg amputation. They also let me borrow a crate for as long as i needed this hospital goes above and beyond and im forever grateful!
Our dog Keiko and cat Dr. Cuddles both love going into see Dr. Chappell and we feel confident in the care our loving family pets receive
Always friendly and caring
We are taking care of my pets like they were my children absolutely amazing services and loving caring compassionate people
Took our cat here for the first time this past week. The staff were all very kind and I appreciated the way the veterinarian explained what she was doing and would also let us know the different options and costs of everything. She followed up with a phone call after investigative blood work :) I would definitely feel confident bringing our kitty back again in the future!
Great vets, techs and staff. Have been taking my cats there for years. Dr. Sheffield rocks!
We started coming here for the care of our Rabbit, under Dr Van Boxtel, and have been coming here ever since. The care of everyone: Dr Van Boxtel, the front desk staff and the techs is absolutely brilliant. I feel closer to the veterinary clinic staff than I do to my own physician, and I wouldn't have it any other way! Our Rabbit had continuous problems with her teeth, and Dr Van Boxtel worked meticulously to help her get better. She often spoke of new research she was following to help with the numerous procedures our Rabbit had to go through. Whenever we had a medical emergency the staff were able to see us right away. It became clear pretty quickly that she came to love Molly as much us! We also have a now six month old kitten that has had a handful of medical problems, and this vet clinic has been amazing. Dr Van Boxtel recently did the second part of his leg amputation and once again went above and beyond for this surgery. She brushed up on new research, consulted with other veterinary professionals and sent some of her staff to specialist clinics for education to ensure that they did the best job possible. Dr Van Boxtel follows up after procedures, even when she isn't working, to see how our little family members are doing and she always recommends what's best for them. We are so lucky to have a vet clinic this compassionate in our life. The staff care, they are available and we wouldn't be where we're at today without them . Thanks so much for everything that you do! I'll forever bring my fluffs here!
The doctor was very patient and helpful with my rabbit. She took the time to clarify all the questions I had about the treatment and general care.
They were very professional, and it is a beautiful clinic.
In response to the owner's comments. I got a second opinion in regards to my cat losing weight and found out he never had kidney disease, instead he has Inflammatory Bowel disease. I had to pay about $800 for an US at Guardian to confirm this diagnosis. Even after I spoke to the hospital manager, I still had to fight to get my money back for the lack of service and misdiagnosis of my cat. My poor cat wasting away and in abdominal pain because the vet never took the time to investigate his weight loss. Two different vets confirmed it was not kidney disease and yet they are too stubborn to admit their mistakes. They wonder why I want my file transferred. Well geez I wonder why. It has been about a week and a half and finally with the proper veterinarian care from Currents Veterinary Clinic my cat is starting to feel better. I highly recommend whomever reads this that if you care about your animals like family then you will not take them to this place because they really don't care about you or your animals
My two cats and my rough collie have been patients at Calgary Pet Hospital all their lives. The personal care and concern they receive is fantastic. The veterinarians and staff are excellent--professional, personable, and caring. Many thanks to them for all they do.
I've had to bring my hedgehog Bruce Quillis here a few times in the last month and all the staff and vets I've spoke to have just been phenomenal and I could not recommend them more
"Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your hearts" Winnie the Pooh We have been clients of VCA Calgary Trail Animal Hospital since 2006. Dr. Deborah Sheffield gave Bell her initial examination and at that time recommended pet insurance. She also told us that Bell could be trained to use a litter box. We took her advice on both issues and this began our journey and relationship with Calgary Trail Animal Hospital. Kelsey joined us in 2008 and we also insured her through Trupanion. Dr. Deborah Sheffield, Dr. Sherry Van Boxtel and Dr. John Neufeld (retired) all helped us through Bell's two luxating patella surgeries, bulging disc surgery, and Addisonian crisis and management. They were also there for Kelsey's congestive heart failure and diabetes diagnosis. The front end reception staff and techs in the back were amazing, kind and efficient. There is something special about a good vet and we were blessed with so many. In their senior years, both Bell and Kelsey declined quickly and needed so much more attention - we never felt alone in our journey. We lost Bell November 14, 2019 and Kelsey February 25, 2020. We were so grateful that the painful decision to let them go was made much easier knowing the advise we were given was just as difficult for Dr. Sheffield. We have wonderful memories of a great business that we would highly recommend to any pet lover. Jerry & Geri
Kind employees and they truly care about your pet here.
They took very good care of my kitten and she was better in a couple days. Very friendly staff and very welcoming!
Came for an emergency, made them our regular vet. Very transparent with costs, excellent staff, and I'm an unclear situation, made sure to provide differential diagnoses, possible treatment plans, and costs and let us make the decisions. Couldn't be happier!
Professional, polite, and quick.
Dana is the only nice receptionist here. Every other brunette couldn’t give 2 craps. Take you’re money to summerside animal hospital. They actually care and don’t rip you off.
Great place to take your.pets for care.
Calgary Trail Pet Hospital is the most kind and caring place to take your pet. Front staff are wonderful! Thank you Dr. Fredlund and Dr. Neufeld for being so great with my little Sox:-)
Friendly and fast
Amazing. They took amazing care of my sweet Guinea Pig Pumpkin when he had a infection. The vet took the time to answer my questions in detail.
One of the few places that take exotics. The staff I talk with is always nice, though one of the receptionists is overdue for a holiday to bring that cheer up again.
They always take fantastic care of our guinea pigs and hedgehogs.I
Dr Sheffield is the most kind and informative vet we have dealt with, she is willing to go through every aspect of your pet with you and is so patient with your questions. All of the staff that we have dealt with have been amazing! Highly recommend this clinic.
Great place. Great people.
Very kind and accommodating staff. The vets here really care about the wellbeing of your animals and personal situations
All of the staff are amazing! I've been going here for years, since before it moved locations! I recommend it to everyone I know. We have 4 cats & all of them love our vet Dr. Van Boxtel(she's AMAZING????!) We adopted our 4th kitty from here as they cared for him till they could find a caring home. It's a great experience & they truly care about your fur family ???? I'd never go anywhere else!
They always take great care of our pets.
Very friendly and great service!!
Friendly staff. Will never take my pets anywhere else. Prices are reasonable and the selection of food if good.
I called to consult about our cats final day and was told I could bring him in any time and they would make sure they had space for me. We did the hard goodbye with our kids then called the clinic to say we were in our way. This time the receptionist told us we received wrong information a few days before. We now had to book an appointment for a consultation before euthanasia and that they didn't have space for us at that time. This isn't a bad policy we just should have been given the correct information. Then, when the error was discovered, we could have been prioritized like an emergency appointment, or something. This clerical error made our families worst day even worse.
Everyone treated our fur baby, Buttercup, with such gentleness and caring while treating her liver disease. Their understanding of our grief at her sudden and unexpected passing was truly appreciated.
After seeing a couple different vets that we're not very knowledgeable about rabbit care, I was recommended Calgary Trail Pet Hospital during an emergency situation last summer. They were very kind and were able to get me in to see Dr. Neufeld quickly. Since then, we have seen both him and Dr. Van Boxtel numerous times, as my rabbit's health deteriorated. I am positive that if it was not for the exceptional care provided by them and the rest of the wonderful staff that he would not be here today. They are all incredibly compassionate and highly skilled. It is clear that they are very passionate about what they do - it is not just a job to them. They care about the well-being of my rabbit just as much as I do. They are easily accessible - I love the online records feature! - and their facility is beautiful, spacious and always meticulously clean. They also have great service hours, which is beneficial for those with busy schedules. If you're looking for a fantastic vet, look no further. I HIGHLY recommend them, and I have sung their praises to many animal owners, ESPECIALLY to those with exotic animals, as knowledgeable vets are hard to find! They are more than worth the hour drive from where I live!
Excellent and caring customer service for a reasonable price. I have complete trust in them to look after my pets.
Love this vet clinic. Dr. Sheffield and her staff are amazing and always take such good care of my little dog.
Awesome staff and prompt, compassionate care when our little dog had an issue that needed immediate attention. Highly recommend!
I have been taking my pets to Calgary Trail Pet Hospital for 15 years. And in the last 15 years they have never skipped a beat. They are always caring and always attentive to my pet's needs. This team is amazing, from the ladies at the front to the vets in the examination rooms, Most notably Dr. Deborah Sheffield. She has been our vet since I got my first dog Zeus who I am glad to say is still with us 15 years later. We now have two more dogs and two cats who all are never weary of a vet visit. They are happy to see everyone because everyone is happy to see them :) I couldn't dream of a better team to trust in my pets health and wellness, we've had a long time to decide ;) thanks for being so excellent and wonderful! Xoxox, Zeus, Shamus, Maliika, Pumba and Thoth. And in spirit our dearly missed Timone <3
Excellent attention to Miss Mew. Professional and on time.
Fantastic. Highly recommend. Skilled, caring, and professional staff that treat your pets like family.
Dr. Chappell has been our vet for almost 8 years! We first got her because she takes care of exotic animals as well, and we had three ferrets. She did an amazing job. When we eventually got our two dogs, we went to her as well! She's always realistic, direct and super friendly. Our dogs adore her. When Duke had to get dental surgery, something went very wrong with the drug he was put on to go under, he didn't react well, and she called me almost every hour to update me, and did everything she could and now he's happy and healthy!! The front desk staff are polite, and interested in our animals. You really won't find a better clinic! AMAZING!!!
We have brought our 2 cats here a few times now and are very happy with the level of care and service we have received. All the staff we have dealt with have been great, and the veterinarians have been understanding of our concerns and caring towards our cats. I'm very happy to keep bringing our cats here!
I came here recently when my puppy got sick. Everyone was so helpful and caring right from the start!!! They call and check on you long after you leave the clinic. We’ve been coming ever since & love everyone there, especially Dr. Kosolofski, Danijel & and the team at the front. :)
